TAKATA RECALL: I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET MY RECALLED AIRBAG REPLACED SINCE MAY, 2016, EVER SINCE RECEIVING NOTIFICATION FROM NHTSA. CHEVROLET HAS BEEN ALTERNATELY SAYING THAT A) PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE B) MY VEHICLE IS NO LONGER AFFECTED AND C) THEY'RE CURRENTLY WAITING FOR AN ADJUDICATION FROM/WITH NHTSA. IN MY PHONE CALL TO CHEVROLET AFTER SEEING THAT THE RECALL IS STILL IN FORCE PER WWW.SAFEAIRBAGS.COM, I WAS TOLD THE RECALL NUMBER (9152) AND THAT NO REPAIR WAS CURRENTLY "AVAILABLE"; BUT THEY DID ESTABLISH A CASE FILE FOR ME [XXX]. I TOLD THEM THAT LIVE WITHIN 20 MILES OF THE ATLANTIC OCEAN (HIGH HUMIDITY ALLEGEDLY ADDS TO THE DEGRADATION OF THE AIRBAGS) AND THAT HAVING PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AS A USED VEHICLE IN OCTOBER, 2013, I HAD NO IDEA OF WHERE THE VEHICLE "LIVED" PRIOR TO MY OWNING IT - THAT FOR ALL I KNEW, IT COULD HAVE SPENT ITS "PREVIOUS LIFE" IN ANY OF THE GULF STATES. TAKATA RECALL THIS IS TAKING AN EXCESSIVELY LONG TIME TO RESOLVE. "INCOMPLETE" RECALL STATUS AND "REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE" IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AFTER GREATER THAN 3 YEARS FROM THE INITIAL NOTICE OF THIS POTENTIAL DANGER.

I RECEIVED NOTICE IN 2016 THAT MY CAR IS AFFECTED BY THE TAKATA RECALL, AND NOT RECEIVED ANY MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS GETTING CORRECTED NOR HAVE I BEEN CONTACTED ABOUT GETTING THE AIRBAG FIXED. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED TO HAVE THE RECALL ADDRESSED WITH MY VEHICLE. IT HAS BEEN OVER THREE YEARS, AND THIS RECALL IS POTENTIALLY DEADLY.

MY CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW IN DECEMBER 2006. IN JULY 2016, I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTIFICATION FROM GM REGARDING THE TAKATA AIRBAG, RECALL 49151. I HAVE BEEN CHECKING IN QUARTERLY WITH MY LOCAL DEALER, NOW CAVENDER CHEVROLET, BOERNE, TX AND RECEIVE THE SAME ANSWER THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. MOST RECENTLY, THE DEALER REPRESENTATIVE INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE MAY NOT EVER BE FIXED. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 96,494 MILES AND I AM STILL IN FEAR FOR MY WIFE AND PASSENGERS THAT HAS TO SIT ON THAT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. WHAT ARE MY LIABILITIES IF AN INJURY OR DEATH OCCURS DUE TO THIS PROBLEM? I CAN'T EVEN SELL OR TRADE THE VEHICLE DUE TO THIS RECALL NOTICE AND HAVE POSTPONED MANY LONG TRIPS DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I THINK AFTER 2016 WHEN TEKATA DECLARED THE AIR BAG TO BE UNSAFE THEY HAVE HAD MORE THAN AMPLE TIME TO MANUFACTURE NEW ONES.GENERAL MOTORS NEEDS TO BUY BACK THE VEHICLES AFFECTED AND ALL COST OF MAINTENANCE OF THEM AND THE AND THE PURCHASE PRICE OF VEHICLE IF THEY CANT COMPLY TO THE RECALL. AFTER ALL THE TAXPAYERS MONEY SAVED THEM FROM GOING UNDER AND NOW THE GOVERMENT IS ALLOWING THEM TO NOT CONFORM TO A SAFETY RECALL THAT KILLS PEOPLE.

MY STRABILITRAK AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL BEGAN FLASHING ON AND CAUSED THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO TURN OFF. THEN IT READS, ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. THIS BEGAN IN NOVEMBER 201. I HAVE TAKEN IT THREE TIMES TO BE FIXED. FIRST I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY, THEN A SWITCH GEAR, THEN A FUEL INDUCTION CLEANING SERVICE. IT IS STILL HAPPENING, JUST TWICE THIS WEEK. THE ENGINE SLOWING DOWN WHILE ON THE FREEWAY PROVES TO BE DEADLY. IN REVIEWING COMMENTS IN THE CHEVROLETFORUM.COM MANY CONSUMERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE SAME RESULTS (A GUESSING GAME) WHY ISN'T THIS A RECALL?
ON THURSDAY MAY 19TH AT 8:35 PM, WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME ON I-696W WHEN MY DRIVER'S SEATBELT BELT DISENGAGED AND RETRACTED ON ITS OWN. WHILE DRIVING, I IMMEDIATELY TRY TO RECONNECT THE BELT INTO THE BUCKLE, BUT IT WOULD NOT GO IN. I MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RECONNECT. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO GET IT INTO THE BUCKLE. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME IN MY GARAGE AND PRECEDED TO GET OUT, THE SEATBELT WOULD NOT COME OUT. I HAD TO STRUGGLE AND PULL ON THE SEATBELT SEVERAL TIMES WHILE TRYING TO PUSH THE BUCKLE RELEASE BUTTON. AFTER 10 MINUTES, I WAS FREE. THE NEXT MORNING (5/20/16) WHILE GOING TO WORK, THE SEATBELT CAME OUT AGAIN. IT WOULD GO IN AND IF I MOVED FORWARD, THE BELT WOULD DISENGAGE. MY SEATBELT CONTINUED TO SLIP OUT OF THE BUCKLE. AS OF MAY 23RD, MY SEATBELT WILL NOT EVEN GO INTO THE BUCKLE. I CANNOT ENGAGE THE DRIVER'S SEATBELT AT ALL!! THESE SEATBELTS SHOULD NOT BE DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD LAST THE VEHICLE LIFE.

TAKATA RECALL: I RECEIVED A LETTER IN JULY 2016 ABOUT A RECALL THAT OCCURRED IN MAY 2016 FOR MY PASSENGER AIRBAG. IT HAS BEEN OVER 2 YEARS AND THERE HAS BEEN NO CHANGE IN THE STATUS OF THE REMEDY (REMEDY NOT AVAILABLE). THIS IS AN UNREASONABLE DELAY. TO TELL ME THAT MY AIRBAG SHOULD BE REPLACED AND THEN NOT GIVEN ME A REMEDY IN OVER 2 YEARS. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE AND UNWILLING TO PUT A PASSENGER IN THAT SEAT WHILE THE AIRBAG IS UNDER RECALL. THAT MAKES ME VEHICLE DEFECTIVE AND I CANNOT IN GOOD FAITH, SELL IT TO SOMEONE ELSE WHILE IT IS UNDER RECALL.
130,000 MILES ON THIS 2007 TAHOE. HAD JUST EXITED THE FREEWAY AND WAS GOING ABOUT 30 MPH ON A HIGH TRAFFIC STREET (SPEED LIMIT IS 55) WHEN MY CAR STARTED SHAKING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON, ENGINE STABILIZING, BRAKE LIGHT TURNED ON, TRACK CONTROL STABILIZING, EVERY LIGHT/SENSOR TURNED ON AS MY CAR WAS SHUTTING DOWN. THE ENGINE WAS STILL ON AND WAS SHAKING BUT I COULD NOT DRIVE. I TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON JUST SO I CAN TRY TO GET BACK TO WORK. TAKING IT TO THE SHOP AFTER WORK TO SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING.

TAKATA RECALL I HAVE CONTACTED DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY DO NOT HAVE PARTS AVAILABLE. I AM DRIVING A VEHICLE WITH A FAULTY AIR BAG AND I DO NOT WANT ANYTHING TO HAPPEN TO MY PASSENGERS. I EITHER NEED TO SELL MY VEHICLE AND TAKE A LOSS BECAUSE OF A FAULTY AIR BAG RECALL OR I NEED THIS FIXED. ITS BEEN WELL OVER A YEAR WITH NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE.

TAKATA RECALL - I HAVE RECEIVED INFORMATION ABOUT THE RECALL AND WHEN I MAKE THE APT WITH THE CAR DEALER THEY SAY THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. I WANT TO KNOW WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE SO I CAN HAVE IT FIXED. THIS IS FOR THE AIRBAG.
TAKATA RECALL MY VEHICLE WAS IDENTIFIED IN THE AIRBAG RECALL 18 MONTHS AGO AND STILL NO ACTION IS AVAILABLE. ALSO, I LIVED IN HOUSTON, TX FOR 15 MONTHS WHERE THE HOT HUMID CLIMATES CREATED A HIGHER RISK OF MALFUNCTION. CHEVROLET CORPORATE OFFICES AND SEVERAL CHEVROLET DEALERS HAVE TOLD ME THERE IS STILL NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO MAKE THE REPAIRS, 18 MONTHS LATER. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FULLY UTILIZE MY VEHICLE (I.E. I DRIVE IT AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE) OUT OF FEAR FOR THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND MY PASSENGERS.

2007 CHEVY TAHOE, DASH HAS CRACKED IN TWO PLACES. ONE CRACK IS IN THE LEFT CORNER AT THE AIRBAG (COMPLETE CRACK TOP TO BOTTOM). THE SECOND IS AT THE LEFT SIDE OVER THE STEERING WHEEL (WITHIN 1 INCH BEING COMPLETELY CRACKED FROM TOP TO BOTTOM). THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE MATERIALS NOT ANY INCIDENT THAT CAUSED THIS TO CRACK. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS AND ALL DASH CRACKS ARE BASICALLY IN THE SAME AREA. VERY MUCH A SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY IF A CRASH OCCURRED. POSSIBLY COULD CAUSE SHATTERING OF THE DASH PIECES AND CAUSE INJURIES OR POSSIBLY INTERFERE WITH AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT.
PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG EXPLOSIVELY INFLATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES PER HOUR ON AN INNER CITY STREET. NO JARRING OR COLLISION OCCURRED DIRECTLY PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. THIS APPEARS UNPROVOKED AND POSES A MAJOR SAFETY RISK TO CONSUMER. WE HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN WHO COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN THIS INCIDENT. THANKFULLY THEY WERE NOT IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME AND IT WAS THE PASSENGER SIDE WHICH EXPLODED AND NOT THE DRIVER SIDE. ANY OF THESES SCENARIOS WOULD HAVE (AND DID) EASILY ENDANGER THE DRIVER AND OTHER INDIVIDUALS ON OR NEAR THE ROAD WHEN INCIDENT OCCURRED. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED INTO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND AM CURRENTLY AWAITING WORD ON WHAT EXACTLY CAUSED THE AIRBAG INFLATION.

MY DASHBOARD FIRST CRACKED WHERE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTS TO THE DASHBOARD AND NOW IS CRACKED IN 3 OTHER PLACES: 2 ABOVE THE CONTROL PANEL CONNECTED TO THE VENT AND ONE ABOVE THE RADIO. IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING AND HAS GOT TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE LOCATION OF THE AIRBAG AND THE CRACK. I AM NOT WILLING TO PUT MY FAMILY AT RISK TO JUST WAIT AND SEE OR TAKE SOMEONE'S WORD THAT "IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE". A NEW DASHBOARD IS VERY EXPENSIVE. I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM AMONG MAY TAHOES ALONG WITH OTHER MODELS. THESE CRACKED DASHBOARDS ARE A LAWSUIT WAITING TO HAPPEN WHEN THEY ARE NOT DEPLOYED APPROPRIATELY DURING AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE NOT SEEN WHEN THESE 4 CRACKS OCCURRED, BUT THE CRACKS ALLOW FOR THE DASHBOARD TO SHIFT AND CRACK MORE WHEN DRIVING OVER BUMPS, ETC.
THE MAIN CALL TO ACTION HERE IS SAFETY. DASHES THAT ARE CRACKED IN PLACES AROUND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG CAN BECOME FLYING PROJECTILES IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT WHERE THE PASSENGER OR SIDE IMPACT AIRBAG DEPLOYS. PREVIOUSLY STATED, GENERAL MOTORS OBVIOUSLY RECOGNIZES THIS AS A PROBLEM AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. PLEASE HELP...
DASHBOARD IS CRACKED WITH THE POTENTIAL OF SHARP SHRAPNEL BEING BROKEN UP AND CAUSING INJURY IN CASE OF AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT.

IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR SINCE I GOT THE LETTER RECALLING MY AIRBAG AND I HAVE HAD NO OTHER INFORMATION. I CALL THE DEALER AND THEY TELL ME I HAVE TO WAIT FOR CHEVY TO SEND ME ANOTHER LETTER SAYING I CAN GET MY TRUCK REPAIRED. MY WIFE IS PREGNANT AND THAT IS HER ONLY CAR AVAILABLE TO DRIVE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAHOE WAS INVOLVED IN FRONT COLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE AND BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. BUMPER, HOOD DAMAGED. BUMPER METAL BRACKET PUSHED IN.TAHOE WAS TURNING LEFT ON LIGHT WHEN STRUCK BE ANOTHER VEHICLE LIKE HEAD ON.
DASHBOARD IS CRACKED IN THREE LOCATIONS. 1ST AND 2ND: OVER PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG FROM UPPER CORNERS OF THE AIRBAG TO THE AIR-VENT PANEL 3RD: APPROXIMATELY 8 INCHES ALONG THE TOP OF THE DRIVER INSTRUMENT PANEL TO THE AIR-VENT PANEL. ADDITIONAL SEPARATION BETWEEN PANELS IS CREATED DURING TEMPERATURE CHANGES OR RUNNING THE HEATER IN COLD WEATHER. HAVE HAD TWO DEALERSHIPS TELL ME IT IS A NORMAL, KNOWN, AND REOCCURRING PROBLEM WITH THE BODY-STYLE BUT OFFERED TO REPLACE IT FOR OVER $1,000.
MY DASH HAS CRACKED OVER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL STARTING AT AROUND 65K MILES I NOTICED IT AND IT ALSO HAS CRACKED OVER THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG CAUSING THE DASH TO SEPARATE FROM THE AIRBAG WHICH WOULD CAUSE PART OF THE DASH TO POTENTIALLY SHATTER UPON AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT CAUSING SERIOUS OR FATAL INJURY.
TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED NOTICE OF THE RECALL IN MAY OF 2016. I HAVE MADE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT LOCAL CHEVY DEALERS AND TO DATE NO RECOURSE. I HAVE HAD A "SERVICE AIR BAG" LIGHT ON FOR CLOSE TO TWO YEARS BUT THE REPAIR SHOP DOES NOT WANT TO PROVIDE SERVICE ON THIS BECAUSE OF THE RECALL. I CAN, AT TIMES, DRIVE UPTO 1000 MILES A WEEK, IT WOULD BE NICE IF THIS COULD BE TAKEN CARE OF.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT, AND STABILTRAC WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND FAILED TO RESPOND. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY OR PARKED, IT BACKFIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 171,000.
