THESE ARE ALL OF THE PROBLEMS FIXED AT THE DEALER WITH THIS TRUCK SO FAR: REAR SWAY BAR LINKS REPLACED, REAR WIPER BLADE CAME OUT OF ALIGNMENT 2 TIMES, RIGHT REAR DOOR IS WARPED, DRIVER SIDE REAR MOLDING IS LOOSE, BACK PLATE RUBBER SEAL OUT OF ALIGNMENT, WINDSHIELD WIPER TANK REPLACED SINCE IT WAS LEAKING, A/C LOW PRESSURE SWITCH INOP THEN REPLACED, WINDSHIELD WIPER MODULE REPLACED BECAUSE WIPERS WOULD NOT TURN OFF, SWAY BAR LINKS REPLACED FOR A SECOND TIME. ALL OF THESE HAVE BROKEN OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS AND NINE MONTHS AND DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER WINDOW FOR THAT DOOR IS LOOSE. STILL IS A NOISE IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION THAT MAKES A HARD KNOCK ONTO THE STEERING COLUMN BUT DEALER DENIES HEARING IT. *NM
NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 04V527000 CONCERNING BRAKE LAMP FAILURE. IT'S HAS BEEN OVER SIXTY DAYS, AND THE DEALER DOES NOT HAVE THE PARTS AVAILABLE. *AK
SINCE JANUARY OF 2005 MY 2003 TRAIL BLAZER HAS BEEN BLOWING THE IGNITION FUSE EVERY TIME I START MY TRUCK. IT WILL TRY UNTIL I TURN IT OFF AND THAN NO POWER. WHEN THIS HAPPENS MY TURN SIGNALS GO OUT, AND MY GAUGE GOES HAY WIRE. I THOUGHT IT HAD TO DO WITH MY REMOTE START, AND I HAD THAT COMPLETELY REMOVED. NOW IT DOES IT MORE OFTEN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY CHARGED ME $20 TO PUT A FUSE BACK IN WHICH I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP THAT IS WHAT I HAVE TO DO TO GET IT STARTED, BUT IT WILL BLOW AGAIN. BEFORE I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP THE FUSE BLOW THE SERVICE MANAGER JUST CAME OUT AND REPLACED THE FUSE AGAIN AND DID NOT CARE THAT IT WAS GOING TO BLOW AGAIN. HE BASICALLY JUST WANTED ME TO LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP. GUESS WHAT BEFORE I EVEN TURNED OUT THE FUSE WAS BLOWN AGAIN. WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS CAUSING THIS TO HAPPEN, BUT THEY SAID THEY REPLACED THE FUSE, AND IT WAS FINE. IF I WANTED THEM TO LOOK INTO IT FURTHER IT WOULD COST $300. JUST TO LOOK AT MORE. I AM PRETTY MUCH AT A LOSS BECAUSE MY VEHICLE IS OVER THE MILES, BUT IS ONLY A 1 AND A HALF YEARS OLD. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I THINK IT WAS REALLY BAD THAT BEFORE I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM , AND THEY WERE FINE WITH LETTING ME LEAVE. *AK
FAN CLUTCH FAILED IN NEAR FULL ON MODE CAUSING EXCESSIVE AIR FLOW WHEN DURING WINTER SEASON. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES HIGHWAY TRAVEL ATTEMPTING TO RETURN FROM A VACATION THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. READOUT OF THIS ERROR WAS P0495 FAN SPEED HIGH. *NM
I TOOK MY 2002 TRAILBLAZER TO THE DEALERSHIP IN DEC. BECAUSE THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE WAS NOT OPERATING (I HADN'T NEEDED TO USE IT IN MONTHS) THE WASN'T ANY SERVICE LIGHT ON THE VEHICLE WHEN I TOOK IT IN. MAGICALLY, WHEN I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP THE "SERVICE 4WD LIGHT" WAS ON. AFTER THEY CHARGED ME AN 80.00 DIAGNOSTIC FEE I WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW TRANSFER CASE MODULE THAT WOULD COST $400.00. I HAVEN'T HAD TIME TO TAKE THE CAR IN OVER THE HOLIDAYS. TODAY WHEN MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE CAR HE HAD SHUT IT OFF AND JUST FOR KICKS PUT IT IN 4 WHEEL HIGH AND IT WORKED!! HOWEVER, HE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND TRIED TO TURN THE CAR INTO A GAS STATION AND IT SHUTTERED AND DID NOT WANT TO TURN. HE DID GET IT INTO A PARKING SPOT, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND SHUT IT OFF. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS OFF IT LUNGED FORWARD ABOUT 4 FEET. I CALLED GM IMMEDIATELY WHEN HE CAME HOME AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD CONTACT ME DEALERSHIP AND THE BEST THEY COULD DO IS PAY FOR HALF OF THE REPAIR!! ALL I CAN SAY THAT I THANK GOD THAT THERE WAS NOT ANOTHER CAR OR PERSON IN FRONT OF MY CAR WHEN IT MYSTERIOUSLY JUMPED 4 FEET FORWARD. I HAVE NOTICED ON THE WEBSITE THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS CONTROL MODULE-IT IS JUST AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. ALSO, WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT (IM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR) THEY SAID THE SOONEST THEY COULD TAKE ME WAS ON TUESDAY( 4 DAYS FROM NOW)-EVEN AFTER I HAD EXPLAINED THE WHOLE SITUATION. *JB
DT: CALLER SAYS THE BALL JOINTS STARTED GOING BAD ON JANUARY 13, 2005. THE RIGHT FRONT FELL OFF, AND WAS REPLACED AT 35,000 MILES AND AT 40,000 MILES. IT WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, AND AT 43000 MILES THE RIGHT AND LEFT WERE DEFECTIVE. DEALER OFFERED TO REPLACE THE BALL JOINTS AND THE SPINDLES. MANUFACTURER SAID CONSUMER COULD TRADE THE VEHICLE IN AND WOULD GIVE HIM $750.00. IN ADDITION, CALLER WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE, AND FELT HE WAS BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BECAUSE MANUFACTURER HAD THE UPPER HAND. *AK
HAVE HAD MY 2003 TRAILBLAZER LT 2WD V8 IN THE SHOP UNDER WARRANTY MANY TIMES. FIRST WAS A RECALL ON THE DRIVE SHAFT WHICH WAS REPLACED 3 TIMES. STILL HAVE A NOISE THE DEALED SAYS THEY DON'T HEAR! NEXT CAME THE TAILLIGHT RECALL. NOW I HAVE A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH A DEAD BATTERY. THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME AND NOTHING HAS BEEN LEFT ON TO CAUSE IT. I CAN GO INTO A STORE AND COME OUT TO FIND IT DEAD. WHEN YOU CHARGE THE BATTERY, THEN EITHER THE HEATED SEATS WORK IMPROPERLY, THE BLOWER WON'T COME ON, SOMETHING DIFFERENT EVERY TIME. *JB
FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT FASTENED, UPON IMPACT SEAT BELT WAS IN A LOCKED POSITION. *BF THIS OCCURRED WHEN THE CONSUMER WAS REAR ENDED. *SC
DT: 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STABILIZER LINKS KEEPS COMING LOOSE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE SHE PURCHASED VEHICLE 5 TIMES. THEY REPLACED THE STABILIZER LINKS 5 TIMES. THE PROBLEM RECURRED. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, AND THEY ALSO REPLACED THE STABILIZER LINKS. THE VEHICLE SHOOK, AND SHIMMIED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE WHILE TURNING A CORNER. THE VEHICLE SHOOK WHILE DRIVING DOWN A HILL AND THERE WAS ALSO NOISE AT THAT TIME. THIS PROBLEM STARTED ON DECEMBER 22, 2004. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY WORKING CORRECTLY. THERE WAS A LOUD HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. IT WAS SHIFTING CORRECTLY. THE CONTACT TO IT TO A DEALERSHIP , AND THEY TEST DROVE VEHICLE. THEY STATE THE TRANSMISSION MECHANIC WAS ON VACATION AND IT WOULD HAVE TO BE BROUGHT IN AT A LATER TIME. THE CONTACT CALLED ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, AND THEY WILL INSPECT THE VEHICLE. *AK UPDATED 2/13/2006 - *NM
WHILE DRIVING, THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS INOPERATIVE. THE CONSUMER COULD NOT TELL HOW FAST SHE WAS DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE CAUSE HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED AT THIS TIME. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
GM T-BODY 4 WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES 2002 > LOSS OF CONTROL DURING 4-WHEEL DRIVE CONDITIONS. TRANSFER CASE SHIFTING IN AND OUT WITH OUT WARNING, CAUSING A SLIDE AND SPIN OUT CONDITION. HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH GM AND WAS TOLDS CONDITION IS NORMAL. THEY BLAME THE DRIVER IS DRIVING TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS. OTHER VEHICLES HAVE NOT LOST CONTROL UNDER THE SAME CONDITIONS AND SPEED. *AK
GEAR SHIFT KNOB CONTINUALLY LOOSENS; REPORTED TO DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT, HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. WHEN IT IS REAL LOOSE IT MAKES IT HARD TO SHIFT INTO GEAR AND THE POSSIBILITY OF NOT GETTING THE VEHICLE INTO "PARK"
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE'S BRAKE PUMP FAILED. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO THE SERVICE DEALER SEVEN DIFFERENT TIMES SINCE DEC 2004 AND THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT.

VEHICLE SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, IGNITION LOCKED. CONSUMER SHOOK THE STEERING COLUMN AND IT STARTED. THERE WAS A MULTIPLE VEHICLE COLLISION SINCE THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AT 65 MPH. *AK
FUEL LEAK AT THE FUEL TANK NECK WHERE RUBBER HOSE RUNNING FROM FUEL FILLER PIPE IS ATTACHED TO FUEL TANK. (HOSE IS SECURED TO FUEL TANK BY A HOSE CLAMP). THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, DEALER SIMPLY RESET THE LIGHT. THE LIGHT WAS BACK TWO DAYS LATER AND THERE WAS A GAS SMELL. I LOOKED AT THE FUEL TANK AND SAW FUEL WAS SEEPING AT THE FUEL TANK NECK.
THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN JUN 2003. WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY, VARIOUS RECALLS WERE ISSUED FOR STEERING, BRAKE LIGHTS AND REAR HATCH LOCKING/HANDLE ASSEMBLY. SINCE THEN, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN A LEMON. POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACED TWICE (FIRST ONE I PAID FOR, SECOND INDEPENDENT AND VERY RELIABLE MECHANIC SHOP PAID). NEXT THE ENGINE COOLING FAN BEARING HAD TO BE REPLACED. LATER, THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REBUILT. I ALSO HAD TO GET THE COMPUTER CHECKED AND RESET TO AVOID SURGING ENGINE RPM AND RESULTANT SPEED DEVIATIONS. REACHING A POINT OF FRUSTRATION AS NEVER BEFORE, I WROTE GM ASKING FOR CONSIDERATION REPAIRING THE TRANSMISSION AND RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. I KNOW THEY RECEIVED THE EMAIL SINCE I HAD A "RECEIPT REQUESTED" FEATURE ACTIVATED IN MY OFFICE COMPUTER. I SENT A SECOND EMAIL STATING I WAS AWARE OF THE EMAIL RECEIPT AND THAT I EXPECTED A RESPONSE. NO SUCH LUCK. ALL THESE PROBLEMS MANIFESTED THEMSELVES WELL BEFORE THE 100,000 MILES WERE REACHED. NOW AT APPROXIMATELY 132,000 MILES, I HAD TO REPLACE THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD DUE TO A CRACK, THE VEHICLE HAS LOST POWER ON TWO OCCASIONS, THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD HAS GONE TO ZERO AND BACK TO NORMAL SEVERAL TIMES AND THE LATEST IS AN ENGINE NOISE THAT MY VERY RELIABLE, 6 YEAR AUTO SERVICE PROVIDER HAS TOLD BE IS RELATED TO THE TIMING BELT ASSEMBLY/MOUNT POINTS AND AS IT GETS LOUDER, THE ENGINE WILL BE GETTING READY TO FAIL. SO, I READ ALL THESE COMPLAINTS TODAY AND FELT LIKE I COULD HAVE SUMMARIZED EVERYONE'S COMPLAINTS AND CONCERNS. I AM AN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATOR AND HAVE NO DOUBT THAT THIS VEHICLE WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS ONE OF THE MOST UNRELIABLE AND DANGEROUS CARS EVER BUILT. SHAME THE FEDS HAVE NOT TAKEN THE EXTRA STEPS TO REMEDY THE ISSUES AFTER SO MANY COMPLAINTS YET, THEY WENT AFTER TOP SELLING TOYOTA AT A TIME WHEN THE AMERICAN MADE CARS WERE BARELY ABLE TO STAY AFLOAT. NHTSA RECALL 04V527000, AFTER ALMOST BEING REAR ENDED CONSUMER WENT TO THE DEALER AND A NEW MOTHER BOARD WAS PUT ON. BATTERY EXPLODED. CONSUMER WENT TO RETRIEVE THE VEHICLE AFTER DEALER MADE THE REPAIRS AND IT WILL NOT START.*AK
SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IMMEDIATELY AFTER FILLING TANK WITH GAS. TOOK TO MECHANIC AND THEY TIGHTENED THE GAS CAP AND THEN RESET THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT AND DROVE AROUND AND NO LIGHT CAME ON. THREE DAYS LATER THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. TOOK BACK TO MECHANIC AND THEY RAN MORE DIAGNOSTICS AND FOUND THREE CRACK S IN THE OPENING (NECK) OF THE GAS TANK. I HAD TO HAVE THE TANK REPLACED IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO FUNCTION WITHOUT THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. A NEW GAS TANK ON A 2003 VEHICLE IS UNHEARD OF AND I WONDER HOW MANY OTHER GAS TANKS ON 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS OR OTHER GM VEHICLES HAVE HAD TO REPLACED DUE TO THIS SAME PROBLEM?? *JB
COMPLAINT RECEIVED VIA E-MAIL. MY SON WAS DRIVING CAR AT 45 MPH, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE REAR END CAME LOOSE. THIS MADE HIM LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. MY SON HAD MINOR INJURIES. HIS INITIAL STATEMENT TO THE DEPUTY WAS, THE VEHICLE FELT LIKE THE REAR END CAME LOOSE. THE DEPUTY LOOKED UNDER MY SUV, AND FOUND THE SWAY BAR WITH A CLEAN BREAK ON IT. HE THEN PROCEEDED TO HAVE SOMEONE ELSE LOOK AT IT ALSO. THEY BOTH STATED THERE WAS NO TWISTING OR DISTORTION OF THE SWAY BAR. IT APPEARED THE SWAY BAR JUST BROKE. *AK. REAR SWAY BAR WAS REPLACED.*AK
MY RIGHT FRONT HEADLIGHT WAS BURNED OUT, AND UPON INVESTIGATION, I DISCOVERED THAT THE PLUG AND BULB SOCKET HAD MELTED ALONG WITH SEVERAL INCHES OF WIRE. IT WAS REPAIRED AFTER SOME BACK AND FORTH DISCUSSION WITH THE CHEVROLET DEALER. I THOUGHT THIS INCIDENT WAS STRANGE, BUT THOUGHT IT WAS A RANDOM INCIDENT UNTIL I READ ON A WEB FORUM THAT THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE.*AK
DT: LEFT DRIVER'S SIDE OUTSIDE MIRROR IS NOT HOLDING THE CORRECT SETTINGS, AND CLICKS CONSTANTLY. THE MIRROR IS HITTING AGAINST SOMETHING, AND TURNS COMPLETELY TO THE GROUND. WHEN USING KEYLESS ENTRY THE MIRRORS ALSO TURN TO THE GROUND. THE MIRROR IS CHANGING BY ITSELF, AND IT IS NOT GOING BACK TO THE CORRECT SETTING. THE MIRROR IS ALWAYS MAKING A CLICKING NOISE AND IT IS FACING DOWNWARD. THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE RIGHT SIDE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE RIGHT SIDE MIRROR, AND FROM THEN ON THE LEFT SIDE HAS NOT WORKED. CONSUMER HAS TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP 4 OR 5 TIMES TO BE CHECKED. DEALERSHIP INSISTS THE MIRROR IS WORKING FINE. BUT AS SOON AS THE CONSUMER LEAVES THE DEALERSHIP THE MIRROR WILL WORK FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS AND THEN STOP WORKING PROPERLY. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE MECHANIC DIDN'T WRITE DOWN THE PROBLEM WITH THE MIRROR IN HIS PAPERWORK, AND THIS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. *AK WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE THE VEHICLE JERKED AT TIMES. THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE WAS REPROGRAMMED. THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THAT THE REPROGRAMMING RESULTED IN POOR FUEL ECONOMY. THE CD PLAYER MADE A HISSING NOISE. WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED THEY WOULD GRIND. THE 4-WHEEL DRIVE SWITCH SHORTED. WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR FAILED. RIGHT SIDE TAG LIGHT BULB BLEW. *NM
THERE HAS BEEN AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL NOT WORKING. WHEN VEHILCE IS ON THE PANEL GUAGES HAVE NO READING - SHOW THERE IS NO FUEL, BATTERY IS DEAD, SEAT BELT IS NOT FASTENED (WHEN IT IS HOOKED UP) PARKING BRAKE IS ON (WHEN IT IS NOT ENGAGED) OIL NEEDS REPLACED LIGHT STAYS ON FOR PROLONGED PERIOD, GEAR SHIFT INDICATED BAR DOES NOT SHOW UP TO TELL DRIVER WHAT GEAR VEHICLE IS IN. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THREE TIMES. IT IS THERE RIGHT NOW. FIRST SERVICE CALL - THE REMOTE START WAS DISCONNECTED TO SEE IF THAT WAS THE PROBLEM - PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR FOR AGAIN FOR APPROXIMATELY A WEEK AND HALF. REMOVE START WAS HOOKED BACK UP AND NEW STARTER PUT IN THAT WAS ON 11/ 23 PROBLEM WITH PANEL GOING OUT OCCURED AGAIN ON 11/25 . TAKEN BACK TO SERVICE ON 11/29 STILL HAVE NOT LOCATED THE PROBLEM. ORIGINAL SERVICE CALL WAS ON 11/3. *AK
THE LEFT BRAKE LIGHT OF MY 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER HAS FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE DEALER I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM REPAIRED THE LIGHT THE FIRST TIME. NO ACCIDENT HAS RESULTED FROM THIS PROBLEM.*AK
THE TRANSMISSION IS VERY SLUGGISH AT TIMES. UPON ENTERING A HIGHWAY OR PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE WILL PERIODICALLY TAKE OFF VERY SLOW. IN A COUPLE INSTANCES WE WERE ALMOST HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION KICKED IN. UPON TAKING IT TO THE DEALER FOR THE FOURTH TIME IN LESS THAN TWO YEARS, THEY STILL INSIST THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE ON-BOARD COMPUTER HAS NOT RECORDED ANY CODES. I'M GETTING VERY FRUSTRATED BY THIS ANSWER, BECAUSE I FEEL THE ONLY WAY THEY WILL ADMIT THE TRANSMISSION HAS A PROBLEM IS WHEN WE ARE FINALLY INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, MAYBE WITH A FATALITY. I WOULD RATHER NOT GET A RESOLUTION THROUGH THIS RESULT. *AK
A COUPLE DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT THE USED VEHICLE I NOTICED THE DRIVER FLOOR MAT VERY SATURATED AND SOAKING WET WITH WATER AND NOW I NOTICED ALL 4 DOORS HAVE WATER LEAKING INTO THE DOOR CAUSING ALL THE DOOR SPEAKERS TO BURN OUT. *JB
WENT OUT TO START VEHICLE ON SEPTEMBER 18, 2004 - TUNED KEY AND NOTHING HAPPENED, NO STARTER MOTOR, NO DASHBOARD LIGHTS, NOTHING. KEY REMIANED LOCKED IN STEERING COLUMN, COULD NOT BE REMOVED. STILL HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP - DEALER CHECKED BEHICLE OVER AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 23RD, CAME OUT OF BANK AFTER RUNNING ERRNAD, TURNED KEY IN VEHICLE - NOTHING HAPPENED AGAIN. KEPT TURNING KEY OFF AND ON FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES UNTIL VEHICLE STARTED OUT OF THE BLUE. DROVE STRAIGHT TO DEALER. DEALER REPLACED IGNITION SWITCH. VEHICLE WORKED FINE UNTIL SUNDAY, JANUARY 23RD. WENT TO START VEHICLE AND ONE AGAIN, NOTHING HAPPENED, NO LIGHTS, NO STARTER - NOTHING. KEY ALSO LOCKED IN STEERING COLUMN. DEALER TOWED VEHICLE THE NEXT DAY. DEALER COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG, THEORIZED AN INTERIOR LIGHT WAS LEFT ON (BUT I KNOW IT WASN'T). DEALER REPLACED SOME ENGINE FAN THEY THEORIZE WAS TURNING ON AFTER ENGINE TURNED OFF AND DRAINING BATTERY - I TOLD THEM THAT'S FINE BUT DOESN'T EXPLAIN WHY TRUCK WILL START DAYS AFTER AN INITIAL FAILURE. THIS INTERMITTENT FAILURE IS FRIGHTENING AS IT SEEMS TO BE A POSSIBLE PART OF A LARGER SYSTEM FAILURE - AS NOTED ON THIS WEBSITE BY OTHER OWNERS - WHEN THE TRAILBLAZER WILL FAIL AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY DID NOT START. THE DEALER REPLACED THE IGNITION TWICE. *JB
THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD MULTIPLE FAILURES IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS. LEFT SIDE BRAKE LIGHT REPLACED TWO TIMES BEFORE BRAKE LIGHT CIRCUIT BOARD WAS REPLACED. RIGHT SIDE HEADLIGHT FAILURE, BULB REPLACED. AC QUIT WORKING. TWO TRIPS TO THE DEALER TO A FIND COMPRESSOR FAILURE. THE COMPRESSOR WAS REPLACED. LATEST AND WORST FAILURE WAS A TOTAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE. ONLY THE ITEMS CONTROLLED BY THE RAP WERE FUNCTIONAL. THE VEHICLE QUIT RUNNING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. COULD NOT BE RESTARTED AND THE TRANSMISSION COULD NOT BE MOVED FROM THE PARK POSITION. VEHICLE HAD TO BE LEFT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND ABANDON FOR SAFETY OF THE PASSENGERS. THIS WAS ALSO A HAZARD TO OTHER VEHICLES. IF THERE IS AN OVERRIDE TO GET THE VEHICLE OUT OF GEAR IT SHOULD BE IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE DRAGGED UP ON THE TWO TRUCK. VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALER AND NO RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN FOUND. *AK
THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN. VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED AND DUPLICATED TWICE. COMPUTER CHIP WAS REPLACED TWICE, THE HARNESS REPLACED TWICE, AND THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED TWICE. CURRENTLY, VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALER. *AK...*AK
WHILE DRIVING ANY SPEED SPEEDOMETER WOULD READ THE WRONG MILEAGE. CONSUMER WOULD NOT KNOW WHAT SPEED THEY WOULD BE GOING. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT HAS A SIX MONTH INFANT THAT IS IN A REAR-FACING CHILD SEAT AT THE DRIVER SIDE REAR. THE AIR CONDITION WILL NOT REACH HIM. SHE TRIED OTHER PLACES IN THE VEHICLE BUT NONE SEEMED TO HELP. WHEN IT IS REALLY HOT OUTSIDE CHILD CANNOT GET COOLED OFF BECAUSE AIR CONDITIONER WILL NOT WORK. *AK
WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS TIGHTENING THE LUGS:NUTS:BOLTS ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE, TWO OF THE STUDS BROKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE STUDS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK *JB
WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH IN A RAIN STORM VEHICLE DROVE OVER AN OIL SLEEK IN THE ROAD WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LOSE CONTROL AND ROLL OVER. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NO INJURIES REPORTED. *AK
1ST PROBLEM (EXACT DATE UNKNOWN, WINTER 2003-2004): THE "CHECK 4WD" LIGHT CAME ON. THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPT SAID GM HAD NO REPAIR FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THAT IT WAS COMMON IN TRAILBLAZERS, AND THEY SIMPLY RESET THE FUSE. THEN (MAY 2004): VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A GROWLING NOISE. WE TOOK IT IN AND THE MECHANICS SAID THAT ONE OF THE BEARINGS WAS BAD, AND THEY REPLACED THE BEARING AND REBUILT THE TRANSFER CASE. A MONTH LATER (JUNE) WE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THAT TIME, ALL OF THE BEARINGS AND THE OIL PUMP WERE "SCORED." NOBODY SUGGESTED A REASON FOR THIS. THE TRANSFER CASE WAS REBUILT AGAIN. NOW (6 WEEKS LATER) THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL IS LEAKING OIL FROM AT LEAST TWO LOCATIONS AND IS CURRENTLY BEING REBUILT. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPT THAT THE REASON IS LIKELY THAT "EITHER IT WAS PUT TOGETHER WRONG AT THE FACTORY OR THE SEAL WAS BAD TO START WITH." IT SEEMS TO US THAT THE ENTIRE 4WD CAPABILITY OF THIS VEHICLE IS COMPROMISED. WE LIVE IN THE COUNTRY WHERE THE ROADS DON'T GET PLOWED WITH ANY REGULARITY, AND WITH WINTER COMING, I AM GOING TO NEED THE 4WD, BUT I'M AFRAID TO USE IT. I ALREADY SPUN OUT ONCE LAST WINTER BECAUSE THEY TOLD ME NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR IN A4WD BECAUSE IT'S BAD FOR THE CAR, SO I WAS DRIVING IN 2WD WHEN I UNEXPECTEDLY LOST TRACTION AND DID A 360 AND ALMOST WOUND UP IN THE DITCH. EVEN WITHOUT SNOW, I AM NOT CONFIDENT THAT THIS CAR WILL GET ME "FROM HERE TO THERE" WITHOUT A PROBLEM. *JB
WE WERE INVOLVED IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING A 2003 TRAILBLAZER XT. A DRIVER TURNED IN FRONT OF US AT AN INTERSECTION ON A BUSY HIGHWAY WHILE WE HAD A GREEN LIGHT. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES SLOWING DOWN TO WHAT WE BELIEVE TO BE AROUND 35 MILES PER HOUR, AND WE HIT HEAD ON INTO THE SIDE OF HIS RANGE ROVER. NEITHER FRONT AIRBAG DEPLOYED. I SUSTAINED A BROKEN RIGHT FOOT AND MULTIPLE BRUISES TO MY KNEES. I ALSO HIT THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MY CHEST AND HAD MANY BRUISES TO MY CHEST. I AM DOING PHYSICAL THERAPY FOR THE INJURY MY SHOULDER SUSTAINED FROM HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CAR HAS AROUND $10,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END. I REMEMBER OFFICIALS ON THE SCENE WERE SURPRISED OUR AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND ENCOURAGED US TO LOOK INTO THAT. I AM SCARED TO HAVE THE CAR BACK. IF A HEAD-ON COLLISION LIKE THAT WILL NOT DEPLOY MY AIRBAGS, WHAT WILL? CAN I TRUST THEM IF I'M IN AN EVEN MORE SEVERE ACCIDENT. AFTER EXTENDED DRIVING OF MY 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER LT EXT, MY HEAT (AUTO. DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL) BEGINS TO BLOW COLD AIR, AND DURING THE SUMMER IT BLOWS HOT AIR. *JB
1ST INCIDENT (JULY 2004): WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 20 MPH, VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. COULD NOT GET IT TO START AND KEY LOCKED IN IGNITION WHILE TRUCK WAS STILL IN GEAR. OTHER TIMES PREVIOUS, VEHICLE TOOK A FEW TIMES TO START. IGNITION SWITCH WAS INTERMITTENT. WHILE IN FOR REPAIR FIRST TIME, FOUND THAT WHEN VEHICLE STALLED, IT LOST IGNITION INPUT. CODES THAT CAME UP WITH SCAN CHECK WERE U1000, U1016, U1152, B1372 AND U1088. IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED WITH NEW, FP#12450251-SWITCH 2.188 R. ALL OTHER FUSES AND WIRING TO IGNITION WERE FOUND TO BE "OK". 2ND-CURRENT INCIDENT (OCTOBER 2006): VEHICLE TOOK SEVERAL TIMES TO START (SAME AS ORIGINAL PROBLEM). VEHICLE WOULD TURNOVER BUT WOULD NOT START ENGINE. TRIED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE BATTERY DIED. CURRENT EVALUATION FROM SERVICE TECH IS THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH IS BAD. KEY IS LOCKING IN IGNITION AND CAN'T MOVE GEARS. TOW DRIVER HAD TO "JUMP" BATTERY TO GET VEHICLE IN AND OUT OF NEUTRAL FOR TOW AND TO REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION. STILL WAITING ON EXTENDED WARRANTY PROVIDER TO APPROVE THIS REPLACEMENT (ALTHOUGH THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY PROVIDER IS NOW BANKRUPT). WE MAY HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR OUT OF POCKET IF WARRANTY ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED. *NM
BRAKE LIGHTS KEPT GOING OUT AFTER REPLACEMENT. *LA
THE CONSUMER WENT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE HIS WINDSHIELD WIPERS REPLACED AFTER HE WAS CAUGHT INTO RAIN AND THE WIPERS WOULD NOT WORK. AFTER HAVING THEM REPLACED HE RECEIVED A LETTER OF RECALL TO HAVE THE UNIT REPLACED AT NO COST; HOWEVER, CONSUMER IS CONCERNED THAT HIS SAFETY WAS PUT IN JEOPARDY, BECAUSE HE HAD TO DRIVE WITHOUT WIPERS. *LA
PROBLEMS WITH 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT.*MR WHEN THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SKID. THE CONSUMER TRIED TO TURN THE WHEEL TO STRAIGHTEN OUT THE VEHICLE, BUT THE BRAKES LOCKED AND THE STEERING WHEEL CONTINUED TO GO TOWARD THE LEFT. THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND SUBSEQUENTLY COLLIDED WITH A SEMI TRACTOR TRAILER. AFTER THE IMPACT, THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE CONTINUED GOING LEFT TOWARD ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND EVENTUALLY WENT LEFT INTO A RAVINE/DITCH. THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE INCIDENT, THE CONSUMER HAD HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP OR SLOW DOWN. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. *JB

CONSUMER HAS TO WAIT APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MINUTES FOR VEHICLE TO COOL DOWN AND RESTART. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR THIS PROBLEM ON JULY 9, 2004, AUGUST 26, 2004, AND SEPTEMBER 28,2004. HAPPENED AGAIN ON MAY 27, 2005, AND JUNE 2, 2005, AND IS CURRENTLY AT DEALER FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. SUDDENLY VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, BUT MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH CONSUMER HEARD A NOISE, FOLLOWED BY LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS RESULTED IN VEHICLE GOING INTO THE MEDIUM AND TURNING OVER. DRIVER SUSTAINED 3 BROKEN RIBS. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A GARAGE WHO INDICATED THAT THIS OCCURRED BECAUSE THE TIE ROD BROKE. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH MALFUNCTIONED. *AK ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD BLINKED BEFORE THE CONSUMER EVEN REALIZED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD NO POWER. *SC *JB

HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN 2004 FOR THIS FAILURE AT 40,000 MILES. THE DEALER INSPECTED BOTH LIGHTS AND DISCOVERED THAT ONLY THE DRIVER'S SIDE TAIL LIGHT WAS DEFECTIVE. THE PASSENGER SIDE LIGHT WAS NOT AFFECTED AT THE TIME, BUT CURRENTLY IT IS BEGINNING TO FAIL THREE YEARS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT SINCE IT WAS PREVIOUSLY TESTED AND DIAGNOSED, THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 121,839 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
