WE BOUGHT OUR 04 TRAILBLAZER USED ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO. IT WAS OWNED BY ENTERPRISE BEFORE AND THEREFORE ALREADY HAD 30000 MILES ON IT BUT WE KNEW THAT IT WAS MAINTAINED WELL. IT IS NOW AT 71000 MILES AND WE HAVE DONE ALL RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE. YESTERDAY, WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE THE TRANSMISSION LOST THIRD GEAR AND ABOVE. THIS WAS DANGEROUS BUT LUCKILY I GOT OFF OF THE INTERSTATE WITH NO INCIDENCE. THIS MORNING WE TOOK THE TRUCK TO OUR LOCAL AND TRUSTED MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHOT. HE CALLED JASPER TO GET A PRICE ON A NEW TRANSMISSION AND DURING THAT CONVERSATION, JASPER INFORMED HIM THAT THEY HAVE DONE 15 UPGRADES TO THIS PARTICULAR GM TRANSMISSION AND THAT EVEN GM IS BUYING REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSIONS FROM THEM. I THINK THAT GM SHOULD CONSIDER SOME TYPE OF RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSIONS DUE TO THE OBVIOUS AMOUNT OF PROBLEMS THEY ARE CAUSING. NEEDLESS TO SAY.. MY WARRANTY IS EXPIRED AND I HAVE TO SHELL OUT $3000 TO REPAIR A 3 YR OLD VEHICLE. *JB
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP FOR AN INSPECTION ON 1/9/07. HE WAS INFORMED BY THE MECHANIC THAT THE VEHICLE WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION NEXT YEAR BECAUSE OF THE BRAKE ROTORS. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INDICATED THAT ALL 4 ROTORS WERE WARPED. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE ROTORS SHOULD NOT BE IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT AT 21800 MILES. *AK UPDATED 01/31/07. *JB

SPEEDOMETER QUIT WORKING. *TR
TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAIL BLAZER EXT WITH AN ODOMETER READING OF 40,000 MILES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000. THE FIRST INCIDENT INVOLVED LEAK IN A FUEL HOSE AND THE SECOND WAS A CRACK IN THE FUEL TANK. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL AND COMPLAIN TO NHTSA SINCE THE 2004 ARE NOT UNDER THE RECALL, AND THE 2002 ARE UNDER RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE DEALER HAD TEMPORARILY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SMELLS FUMES WHILE DRIVING. THE FUMES ARE DETECTABLE WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE CONTACT DID NOT HIT ANYTHING TO CAUSE THE DAMAGE. THE CONTACT HAS REPAIR INVOICES AND PICTURES.
WE BOUGHT A 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER BRAND NEW. WE HAD ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE PERFORMED. THEN IN DECEMBER 29TH OF 2006 IN THE EVENING WE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF THE TRANSMISSION IN THIRD GEAR. WE WERE TRYING TO MERGE ONTO A HIGHWAY AND WERE ALMOST REAR ENDED BY A SEMI-TRACTOR TRAILER TRUCK. I QUICKLY PULLED OFF TO THE BREAK DOWN LANE TO AVERT AN ACCIDENT. IT HAS BEEN ROUGHLY BEEN SIX WEEKS SINCE WE DROPPED THE VEHICLE OFF AT A AUTHORIZED CHEVY DEALER. OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY WANTS TO REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION. THE CHEVY SERVICE DEPARTMENT WANTS TO REPLACE IT. THEY ARE AT A STALEMATE. THIS VEHICLE HAD ONLY 68000 MILES ON IT. *JB
LEAKING FUEL TANK. NO FIRE YET! ENVIRMENTAL HAZARD. *TR
TL* - THE CONTACT HAS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER WITH 17000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, THE LIFTGATE DOES NOT LATCH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT FIRST HAPPENED ON 12-23-06 AND IT HAS NOT WORKED SINCE. THE CONTACT SAID THAT SHE HAS TRIED THE POWER LOCK, AND THE KEY FOB/REMOTE AND IT STILL DID NOT LOCK. *AK
TL* - SOMETIME IN LATE SEPTEMBER 2006, WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP. THE VEHICLE SOUNDED AS IF IT WANTED TO ACCELERATE, BUT COULDN'T. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CONTINUED TO HAVE THE FAILURE FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS. THE VEHICLE ALSO HAD THE SAME TYPE OF FAILURE WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT. WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE'S SPEED DECREASED TO 5 MPH FOR ABOUT 20-30 SECONDS. ON 10/11/06 CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE EXHAUST CHECK VALVE. ON 10/17/06 VEHICLE CONTINUED TO HAVE THE SAME FAILURE AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS TURNING ON,. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REPLACED THE OXYGEN SENSOR. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO HAVE THE SAME INCIDENT WITH THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON. CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 10/3106, AND THEY REPLACED THE VALVE BODY. IT CONTINUED TO HAVE THE SAME INCIDENT WITH THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, BUT THIS TIME THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT SHOWING. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 12/20/06, AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WASN'T ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CURRENTLY HAS THE VEHICLE PARKED AT HOME AND DOES NOT PLAN TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE HE DOESN'T FEEL SAFE IN VEHICLE. *AK UPDATED 2/26/2007 - *NM
THE SPEEDOMETER IN MY 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER BEGAN TO SHOW THE WRONG SPEED AT ABOUT 45,000 MILES. THE NEEDLE WOULD INCREASE WITH SPEED AS IT SHOULD HAVE BUT WOULD NOT GO BACK DOWN AGAIN LIKE IT SHOULD. THEN IT QUIT WORKING ALTOGETHER AND THE NEEDLE JUST HANGS LIMP. WE HAD THE SPEEDOMETER DIAGNOSED AT ANOTHER FACILITY SINCE THIS OCCURRED AROUND THE HOLIDAYS AND GM DEALERS COULD NOT GET US IN. MY WIFE HAS BEEN COMMUTING 20-30 MILES DAILY HAVING NO IDEA HOW FAST SHE IS GOING BECAUSE GM REFUSES TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR STORIES AFTER RESEARCHING IT ON THE INTERNET. EVERY PERSON I KNOW WITH A LARGE GM VEHICLE HAS HAD TO REPLACE IT BETWEEN 40,000 AND 50,000 MILES. THE FACILITY THAT DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM SAID THAT THE SPEEDOMETER HEAD WAS STRIPPED AND THE DEALERSHIPS KNOW THE PRICE OF THIS PART OFF THE TOP OF THEIR HEADS, PRESUMABLY BECAUSE THEY REPLACE MANY OF THEM. *JB
MY 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS SPEEDOMETER STARTED MALFUNCTIONING. IT WILL REGISTER SPEEDS 25-35 MILES PER HOUR OVER ACTUAL. IT ALSO DOES NOT OPERATE SMOOTHLY BUT JERKS TO THE NEXT NUMBER. VERY DANGEROUS, AND VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX. IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS ALSO HAPPENING ON THE ENVOY, TAHOE AND AVALANCHE MODELS. THIS SHOULD BE QUALIFIED AS A SAFETY RECALL. *JB
SNAPPING AND POPPING FROM FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE STABALIZER LINKS. THIS SEEMD TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM FOR A WHILE. NOW THE NOISE IS BACK AND AT TIMES IS QUITE LOUD. VEHICLE HAS 21,000 MILES. *JB
DASH CLUSTER: TACHOMETER FAILED A 62,000, SPEEDOMETER AT 120,000, NOW THE GAS GAUGE IS ACTING UP. IF 2005-2007 ARE BAD NEED TO ADD 2004.
WHILE I'M DRIVING THE CAR WILL JUST TURN OFF. I CAN BE AT A LIGHT, TURNING, MERGING ONTO TRAFFIC OR JUST SITTING IN TRAFFIC. I'VE BEEN ABLE TO AVOID THREE ACCIDENT TO DATE. I DID BRING THE CAR IN TO THE DEALER - THEY FIXED IT. UNTIL IT HAPPENED THREE DAYS LATER. IT HAPPENS 6 OUT OF THE 7 DAYS A WEEK. *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET TRAIL BLAZER. DURING A SNOW STORM THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH, AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS. THE MANUFACTURER SENT AN INVESTIGATOR TO ACCESS THE DAMAGE, AND STATED THAT THERE WAS $10,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE, AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY TRAVELING 8 MPH. *AK
I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 2 1/2 YEARS. THE FIRST PROBLEM WAS NOTICEABLE ONLY AT NIGHT WHEN THE WINDSHIELD GLARE WAS SO BAD ON THE FREEWAY THAT I COULD NOT SEE VERY WELL. WE HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED. THE SECOND PROBLEM HAS BEEN ON-GOING FOR THE PAST SIX TO EIGHT MONTHS. THE SPEEDOMETER SOMETIMES WORKS, BUT IS USUALLY NOT VERY CORRECT, AND MOST OF THE TIME IT JUST PICKS A NUMBER AND SITS THERE FOR SEVERAL DAYS, WHETHER THE CAR IS RUNNING OR NOT. I USUALLY USE THE RPMS TO FIGURE OUT HOW FAST I AM GOING UNTIL MY MECHANIC CAN FIX IT FOR MORE THAN A WEEK AT A TIME. *TR
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER STARTED GOING BAD IN 2006 AND EVERY YEAR ANOTHER GAUGE IS FAULTY - FIRST IT WAS THE GAS GAUGE, NEXT THE OIL, ETC AND 4 YEARS AGO THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED STICKING. I TALKED TO THE DEALER AND THEY WANTED $800 TO FIX IT. I HAVE RESEARCHED AT THE TIME AND THIS IT IS A VERY COMMON COMPLAINT. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED. I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT FOR YEARS AND EVEN CALLED GM - NO HELP AND I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO REPAIR THIS. I WOULD APPRECIATE HELP WITH THIS AND FEEL THAT GM HAS KNOWN THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE. I DRIVE A LOT OF KIDS IN MY CAR AND I AM AFRAID THAT ONE DAY THIS IS REALLY GOING TO BE A PROBLEM. *JS
VEHICLE SWITCHING INTO 4WD/AWD ON ITS OWN - MALFUNCTION TOOK VEHICLE IN BECAUSE VEHICLE WAS TRYING TO SWITCH INTO AWD AND 4WD ON ITS OWN AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, ENTIRE VEHICLE JERKS WHEN SWITCHING (ON ITS OWN) FROM 2HI TO AWD. CHEVY SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOUND PROBLEM IN TRANSFER CASE MODULE. THEY REPLACED MODULE AND PROGRAM. VEHICLE 4WD MALFUNCTIONED AGAIN. VEHICLE TRYING TO SWITCH INTO 4WD AND AWD ON ITS OWN. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO SERVICE DEPARTMENT. SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPLACED ENCODER MOTOR. VEHICLE IS STILL SWITCHING INTO 4WD AND AWD RANDOMLY. I WILL TAKE IT IN AGAIN. THESE PROBLEMS STARTED WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE UNDER 43000 MILES ON VEHICLE AT THIS TIME. INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS MANY TRAILBLAZER OWNERS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE AT A STOP, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS ADJUSTED, BUT WOULD NOT LOCK IN POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SALES/SERVICE DEALER. ON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TILT RACK WOULD NOT LOCK AND THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED.

MY 2004 TRAILBLAZER SPARE TIRE WINCH WOULD NOT CRANK MY TIRE ALL THE WAY DOWN I WAS ON THE SIDE OF THE EXPRESSWAY AND COULD NOT REMOVE MY TIRE SO THAT I COULD CHANGE IT. *NM
THE SPEEDOMETER & TACH DO NOT WORK PROPERLY THEY READ WRONG OR NOT AT ALL. YOU CAN BE DRIVING AT 50 MPH YOU THINK, BUT IT MIGHT BE 60 OR 70. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER SERVICE THE REP SEAMED TO KNOW RIGHT AWAY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. COST $400.00+ TO FIX. *NM
AT APPROXIMATELY 36,000 MILES THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY CHEVY TRAILBLAZER STARTED ACTING FUNNY. AT APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES IT STARTED TO GET STUCK. AT 45,000 MILES IT STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER. IT IS NOW STUCK IN THE DOWN POSITION POINTING TOWARD THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. I HAVE SPOKEN TO NUMEROUS CHEVY TRAILBLAZER OWNERS AND HAVE VISITED A NUMBER OF ONLINE DISCUSSION GROUPS AND HAVE FOUND OUT THAT A NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, WHICH CAN LEAD TO INJURY OR DEATH. *NM
THIS IS THE SECOND COMPLAINT I AM SUBMITTING ABOUT THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. I JUST WANTED TO INCLUDE SOME LINKS TO CUSTOMER DISCUSSION FORUMS, IN WHICH YOU CAN SEE THAT THIS SPEEDOMETER IS A BIG PROBLEM. GM TRIES TO IGNORE THE PROBLEM AND MOST CUSTOMERS HAVE NO OUTLET TO VENT THEIR PROBLEMS, OUTSIDE OF THE DEALERSHIP WHO IS TRYING TO HIDE THE PROBLEM. PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT SOME OF THESE DISCUSSIONS AND YOU WILL SEE HOW GM IS IGNORING THIS VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WITH THE CHIMING OF A WARNING ALARM, FOLLOWED BY THE MALFUNCTION OF ALL OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER THREE TIMES BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THEY COULD DO NOTHING TO ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,400. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,460. UPDATED 07/08/11*LJ UPDATED 11/28/11
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED BY ITSELF FROM 25 TO 30 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEALER.*AK UPDATED 01/19/07.*JB
2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE VEHICLE'S A/C AIR OUTPUT WORKS FINE, BUT WHEN YOU SWITCH IT TO HEAT, THE OUTPUT FOR THIS IS DIMINISHED CONSIDERABLY. THE VEHICLE HEATS UP FINE, BUT EVEN WHEN THE AIRFLOW IS ENTIRELY AT THE DASH (NONE DIRECTED TO THE FLOORBOARD) THE OUTPUT OF AIR FOR THE HEAT IS VERY LOW; SO LOW IT CAN'T EVEN BE FELT UNLESS THE HAND IS PLACED DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE VENT NO MATTER HOW HIGH THE SETTING IS. VEH HAS BEEN TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER (UNDER WARRANTY), AND WAS TOLD NO DIAGNOSTIC PROBLEM WAS DETECTED; EVERYTHING IS WORKING PROPERLY. COMPARED MY VEHICLE TO OTHERS OF SIMILAR MAKE/MODEL/YEAR, AND DEALER SAYS ALL WORK THE SAME. THIS IS NOT TRUE BECAUSE LAST YEAR, I COULD NOT STAND THE HEAT ON SETTING OF MORE THAN TWO BECAUSE THE OUTPUT WAS VERY GOOD. NOW, IT CAN BE PUT AT A HIGHER SETTING, BUT WITH LITTLE HEAT OUTPUT. I COMMUNICATED WITH AN INTERNET SERVICE TECHNICIAN WHO SAYS IT IS THE AIR FLOW DOOR THAT IS NOT SEALING PROPERLY. THE INTERNET SERVICE TECHNICIAN ALSO SAID IT IS DIFFICULT/TEDIOUS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I THINK THE DEALER JUST DOESN'T WANT TO MESS WITH IT AS IT IS UNDER WARRANTY. *NM
I WAS SIDE SWIPED BY ANOTHER CAR THAT WENT THROUGH A RED LIGHT. MY TRUCK THEN PROCEEDED TO HIT ANOTHER CAR AND FINALLY THE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK GOT AIRBORNE AND LANDED WITH THE TIRES IN THE FRONT WINDSHIELD OF ANOTHER CAR. THE TRUCK SUSTAINED OVER $6,000 IN DAMAGE AS WELL AS THE FRONT FRAME WHERE THE MOTOR SITS WAS DAMAGED. INSURANCE COMPANY SAID IT COULD BE REPLACED. NOT SURE HOW BECAUSE IT WAS WELDED IN PLACE. AND MY AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. *TR
THIS CAR HAS HAD PROBLEMS BEFORE CUTTING OFF FOR NO REASON. THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT FROM SAID THAT "THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT". NOW THE CAR GAUGES AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. THEY SOMETIMES DO NOT WORK AT ALL AND AFTER A WHILE TURN ON. *JB
SPEEDOMETER STARTED ACTING ERRATICALLY. EITHER POSTS NO SPEED, OR SHOWS A SPEED THAT IS OBVIOUSLY NOT CORRECT. TURNING OFF CAR, AND RESTARTING CORRECTS THE PROBLEM FOR THE MOMENT. *JB
HEADLIGHTS BLINK WHILE DRIVING AND SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER STOPPED WORKING. *JB
I HAVE A 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. EARLY LAST MONTH I DISCOVERED MY SPEEDOMETER METER NOT STOPPING AT 0 MPH WHEN I APPROACHED A TRAFFIC LIGHT. IT STOPPED AT 20 MPH. THIS MEANT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS INDICATING A SPEED FASTER THAN I WAS ACTUALLY GOING. WHEN I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF THAT EVENING AND BACK ON THE NEXT MORNING, IT RESET AND RETURNED TO 0 MPH. AS THE MONTH PROGRESSED, THE SPEEDOMETER INDICATOR CONTINUED EXHIBITING THIS PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM HAS CAUSED THE INDICATOR TO EXCEED PASSED THE 120 MPH INDICATOR. THE ONLY RESOLUTION HAS BEEN TO CONTINUOUSLY TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON. DEPENDING ON WHERE THE INDICATOR STOPS WILL DICTATE HOW MANY TIMES I'LL HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON TO GET THE INDICATOR BACK TO 0 MPH. *NM
WENCH HOLDING SPARE TIRE ON 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER WAS STUCK AND WOULD NOT LOWER THE TIRE. HAVING A FLAT TIRE IS BAD ENOUGH BUT BEING TOLD THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO CUT AND DESTROY THE WENCH MECHANISM IN ORDER GET THE SPARE TO PUT IT ON IN PLACE OF THE FLAT ONE WAS NOT GOOD NEWS. I TOLD AAA TO PROCEED AND CUT THE CABLE AND MECHANISM SO THEY COULD CHANGE MY FLAT TIRE. I FOUND THIS IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND IT COST $137.00 TO REPLACE THE WENCH. THIS HAPPENED IN AUGUST 2006/ IN OCTOBER, MY WIFE HAD A FLAT AND GUESS WHAT THE WENCH WOULD NOT LOWER THE SPARE AND AGAIN THE MECHANISM HAD TO BE REPLACED. I PUT MY SPARE ON MY WIFE'S 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER SO SHE COULD CONTINUE HER TRIP TO IOWA. HER WENCH WAS REPLACED AT A COST $143.00. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS AS IT HAPPENED WITH MY 2002 AND MY WIFE'S 2004. THERE IS NEVER A MENTION IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL ABOUT ANY MAINTENANCE ON THE WENCH. TO FIND THE PROBLEM WHEN YOU HAVE A FLAT IS NOT THE RIGHT TIME TOM DISCOVER THE WENCH DOESN'T WORK. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH GENERAL MOTORS ON MONDAY OF THIS WEEK AND WAS TOLD THAT ALL COMPLAINTS ARE REVIEWED BY SUPERVISORS. I SIMPLY REPLIED THAT IT WAS HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT I WOULD EVER HEAR FROM ANYONE AT GM ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *NM
THE PROBLEMS STARTED IN 2006 AND WERE VERY INTERMITTENT. THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, LIGHTS, BATTERY , AND OTHER UNKNOWN ITEMS. THE DEALER CHECK THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WHEN IT STARTED, BUT COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. SOMETIMES, WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE LIGHTS WENT OFF, AND I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, CHECK ANY FUSES AND RELAYS, AND THEN THEY WOULD COME BACK ON. THE NEXT ELECTRICAL ISSUE WAS WITH THE SPEEDOMETER, WHICH ON A TRIP ACROSS TO FLORIDA IT WOULD BE ERRATIC AND INDICATE I WAS TRAVELING OVER 120 MILES AN HOUR WHEN MY GPS SAID I WAS DRIVING AT 65. AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH REPLACING MULTIPLE BATTERIES WHICH GO DEAD EVERY 4 OR 5 DAYS DEPENDING ON USAGE. AFTER THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING, EACH OTHER INSTRUMENT PANEL ITEM WORKED ON AND OFF. THIS INCLUDES THE GAS TANK GAUGE, THE AMMETER, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE, TACHOMETER, AND THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE. THEY ALL WORKED ON AND OFF FOR THE NEXT 3 YEARS, AND NOW NONE OF THESE VERY IMPORTANT INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES HAVE WORKED FOR OVER 2 YEARS. I WONDER IF THE ELECTRONICS THAT EFFECT THE AIR BAGS WOULD WORK IF I EVER HAVE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE REPLACED MANY BATTERIES, I STILL HAVE TO CHARGE EACH ONE EVERY 4 OR 5 DAYS OR I CANNOT START THE TRUCK. I HAVE CHECKED ONLINE AND THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF TRAILBLAZER, AND THEIR RELATED GM VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. I HEAR THAT A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE GMC-ENVOY WHICH IS THE SAME RELATED PARTS VEHICLE BUT THERE IS NOT ONE FOR THE TRAILBLAZER? I AM DEALING WITH THESE ISSUES AND HOPING FOR THE RECALL THAT WE ALL HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR. THANK GOD I HAVE A 97 TOYOTA CAMRY THAT RUNS WELL. I WISH [XXX] WOULD READ THIS. ONE DAY I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT ABOUT 40 MPH, BUT WHEN I LOOKED AT THE SPEEDOMETER IT WAS READING 90. FOR ABOUT A MONTH THE SPEEDOMETER NEVER REACHED ZERO AND PERFORMED NORMALLY. ONE DAY IT FINALLY DID REACH ZERO AND ACTED PROPERLY FOR ABOUT A WEEK, THEN BEGAN ACTING UP AGAIN. SINCE THEN, IT HAS GOTTEN STUCK POINTED DOWN AND DOES NOT MOVE AT ALL. ALSO, MY RPM BEGAN ACTING UP AS WELL. NOW IT STARTS BELOW ZERO AND ONLY MOVES OCCASIONALLY. THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN FOR ME BECAUSE I CAN HANDLE NOT KNOWING THE EXACT SPEED OF MY VEHICLE, BUT NOT KNOWING THE RPM ALSO MAKES IT DIFFICULT BECAUSE I HAVE NO REAL WAY TO DETERMINE MY SPEED. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT MUST BE ADDRESSED. I HAVE A FRIEND WITH A TRAILBLAZER LIKE MINE AND HE HAS A SIMILAR PROBLEM. SPEEDOMETER DOESN'T WORK. THE SPEEDOMETER IN MY 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER WILL GET STUCK AT VARIOUS POSITIONS (CURRENTLY AT OVER 120 MPH). THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THIS IS TO DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL ON THE BATTERY OR STOP/RESTART THE CAR NUMEROUS TIMES. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW FAST I AM REALLY GOING WHEN THIS PROBABLY OCCURS BECAUSE THE BASELINE FOR THE SPEED IS NO LONGER AT ZERO. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE. SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET HAS SHOWN THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 03 TO 06 GM CARS AND TRUCKS, AND PARTICUARLY THE 04 TO 05 MODELS, AND IT SEEMS TO OCCUR AFTER THE WARRANTY IS OUT FOR MOST PEOPLE. GM KNOWS THEY HAVE A PROBLEM AND CHARGES $500+ FOR THE FIX, BUT INDEPENDENT SHOPS CHARGE LESS THAN $200. NOT HAVING AN ACCURATE SPEEDOMETER IN A CAR THAT IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND HAS ONLY 50,000 MILES BECAUSE OF LOW QUALITY COMPONENTS USED IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND GIVEN THE NUMBER OF ISSUES OUT THERE AND THE COST TO FIX I FEEL THE THE NHTSA SHOULD FORCE GM TO RECALL OR OFFER THE FIX WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS TO OWNERS OF 03 TO 06 GM PRODUCTS FOR FREE. *TR
SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK, SO I DO NOT KNOW HOW FAST I AM GOING. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE SOMETIMES SAYS MY ENGINE IS TOO HOT WHEN IT IS NOT, SO NOW I AM NOT SURE ABOUT THE STATUS OF MY ENGINE'S COOLING SYSTEM. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED AND DISCOVERED ON THE INTERNET THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM.

THE PANEL FOR THE POWER SEAT CONTROLS ON THE DRIVER'S SEAT IS DESIGNED SUCH THAT IT IS BROKEN LOOSE EASILY BY SIMPLY ENTERING AND EXITING THE VEHICLE. IT'S DESIGN AND MOUNTING LOCATION CAUSES IT TO HAVE TO SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF THE DRIVER AS HE ENTERS OR EXITS THE VEHICLE. ONCE THE MOUNTING SUPPORTS BREAK, THE CONTROLS ARE ONLY SUPPORTED BY THE WIRING. *NM
I HAVE HAD MY TRAIL BLAZER FOR 1 YR AND 1 MONTH. IN THAT TIME I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE FRONT AND BACK PADS AND ROTORS, BALL JOINTS, CATALYTIC (SP) CONVERTER, AND NOW THEY JUST TOLD ME I HAVE TO REPLACE THE HEAD GASKET ON THE MANIFOLD. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH THIS VEHICLE. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT. THE OTHER DAY THE RADIO JUST STOPPED PLAYING AND THEN THE SERVICE 4 WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT CAME ON. *NM

DEALERSHIP STATED FRONT BACKING PLATES WERE CONTACTING STEERING KNUCKLE. 04/21/06 BEGAN DRIVE FROM OKC, OK TO VANOUVER, WASHINGTON, MIDTRIP NOTED SAME NOISE. ON TRIP NOISE BECAME EXTREMELY LOUDER. STOPPED AT CHEYENNE WY DEALERSHIP COULDN'T GET APPT FOR SEVERAL DAYS. HUSBAND REMOVED HEAT SHIELD IN EVANSTON WY ON 8/23 AND DISCOVERED CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD. 41000 MILES ON VEHICLE. 2 DEALERSHIPS IN EVANSTON WY WOULD NOT TOUCH US FOR SEVERAL DAYS. CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE WHO CONTACTED DEALERSHIP IN SLC,UT WHO WOULD LOOK AT VEHICLE. DROVE THERE BUT BECAUSE OVER 36K, WARRANTY DID NOT COVER AND THEY WOULD NOT FIX VEHICLE UNDER WARRANTY AND COULD NOT FIX SAME DAY. CONTACTED DEALERSHIP IN VANCOUVER WA UPON RETURN AND THEY ARE TRYING TO REPAIR BUT HAVE NOW DISCOVERED 3 CRACKED HEAD BOLTS IN ADDITION TO CRACKED MANIFOLD. REFUSING TO COVER UNDER WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH IN FOR PREVIOUSLY. HAVE ADMITTED TO NOT ADDRESSING HEAT SHIELD AT ALL IN APRIL. EXTREME STRESS, INCONVENIENCED AND WORRY ON VACATION. NO ETA ON REPAIRS. TRAILBLAZER WAS TAKEN TO PLACE OF PURCHASE TO REPAIR PULSATING BRAKES. VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY WITH UNDER 26,000 MILES. DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR. SAID GM WOULD NOT PAY FOR REPAIRS. RUSTY ROTORS WAS THE DIAGNOSIS. CONTACTED GM REP (LISA) AND SHE TOLD ME I LIVED IN THE RUST-BELT AND THAT WAS THE REASON FOR THE RUSTY ROTOR CONDITION, NOT DEFECTIVE PARTS. SHE REFUSED TO AUTHORIZE REPAIR. SUGGESTED I RETURN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, HAVE THEM CUT THE ROTORS (AT A RATE OF $150 PER AXLE). SUBMIT THE BILL TO GM AND THEY WOULD DECIDE WHETHER TO REIMBURSE ME. *NM

(3) TOLD BY THE DEALER WHERE VEHICLE PURCHASED THAT THIS ITEM IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR CONSUMER USE BY GM PARTS AND SERVICE. TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT UP TO 3 MONTHS FOR ITEM TO BE AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC RELEASE. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE ON A LEASED VEHICLE. PAYING TO NOT BE ABLE TO USE VEHICLE TO FULL POTENTIAL. MAJOR LOSS. THANKFULLY WE WERE IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND NOT ON THE FREEWAY. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A FAULTY ACCELERATOR POSITION MODULE AND THE PCM NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY. LOSS OF ENGINE POWER CAUSED A NEAR MISS WITH A TRACTOR TRAILER TRAVELING BEHIND ME. CAUSE WAS CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 37000 MILES ON IT. OXYGEN SENSOR ALSO FAILED, THIS IS THE SECOND ONE REPLACED. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE 4 MONTHS AND ONLY PUT 5000 MILES ON IT. 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER EXT- WINDSHIELD WASHER UNIT WILL NOT TURN OFF, EVEN WITH IGNITION TURNED OFF AND KEY REMOVED. HAD TO REMOVE FUSE TO SHUT THE SYSTEM DOWN. CERTAIN 2003 TRAILBLAZER MODELS HAD RECALL FOR THIS SAME DEFECT. *NM
ON 8/1/06 I WAS AWAKEN BY A NEIGHBOR AT 1 AM SAYING MY CAR WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED BUT THE ENTIRE INTERIOR WAS DESTROYED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SAID IT HAD TO HAVE BEEN AN ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED SINCE 8 PM THAT NIGHT AND IT WAS LOCKED. THERE WAS NO SIGN OF FORCED ENTRY AND NO SIGN OF ANY OTHER REASON FOR THE FIRE. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW IN 10/04 AND HAD LESS THAN 30,000 MILES ON IT. I USED THE ROADSIDE WARRANTY TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A DEALER BUT THE DEALER REFUSED TO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT. IT TOOK TWO WEEKS FOR GM TO SEND A FIRE INVESTIGATOR OUT AND THEIR INVESTIGATOR SAID HE COULDN'T DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE VERMONT STATE ATTORNEY'S OFFICE BUT GM DID NOT RESPOND TO THE COMPLAINT. I HAD ELECTRICAL REPAIRS DONE JUST A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE TOO AND THE STEREO SYSTEM HAD STOPPED WORKING JUST A MONTH BEFORE THE FIRE. THE CAR IS STILL SITTING AT THE DEALERSHIP. I DID NOT HAVE COLLISION INSURANCE BECAUSE THE CAR WAS PAID IN FULL AND MY CURRENT FINANCES DID NOT ALLOW ME TO MAINTAIN ANYTHING MORE THAN LIABILITY INSURANCE. SO NOW I HAVE NO VEHICLE AND THIS IS TOUGH WITH 3 YOUNG CHILDREN. GM REFUSES TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY AND INSISTS THAT THIS MODEL VEHICLE DOESN'T HAVE ELECTRICAL ISSUES. IT'S TIME SOMEONE MADE GM HONOR THE WARRANTY THEY CHARGE FOR WHEN YOU PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE. *JB
2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. INTERMITTENT ENGINE STALLING SINCE NEW. MANY SERVICE VISITS TO CHEVY DEALERS TO FIX, HOWEVER MECHANICS STUMPED. LOCAL GAS STATION MECHANIC FOUND THE PROBLEM HAVING TO DO WITH COMPONENTS IN THE EMISSION CONTROL / VAPOR RECOVERY SYSTEM. NOW CHEVY NEEDS TO FIGURE OUT THE CURE. IN THE MEANTIME I GET TO DRIVE AROUND WITH THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT ON. I GUESS THIS IS BETTER THAN BEING CRASHED BECAUSE MY CAR STALLED IN AN INTERSECTION OR ON THE HIGHWAY. CHEVY MECHANICS AND ENGINEERS NEED TO GET THE "DUH" AWARD. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DIAGNOSTICS PERFORMED BY CHEVY. I WOULD STILL LIKE TO HAVE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO GO OFF, AND HAVE THE ENGINE NOT STALL IF THAT IS POSSIBLE. PLEASE SEND INFO TO HAVE THIS DONE IF POSSIBLE. *JB
