2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER 2 WHEEL DRIVE (2WD) TRANSMISSION FAILURE. TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE UNDER NORMAL HIGHWAY OPERATING CONDITIONS, SPEED APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, TWO LANE HIGHWAY, SURFACE CONDITIONS DRY, MILEAGE 25605. FAILURE PROCEEDED BY STRANGE NOISE, THEN COMPLETE DISENGAGEMENT / LOSS OF POWER. SERVICE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT ILLUMINATED; LATER DIAGNOSED BY GMC DEALORSHIP AS AN OPEN / LOOSE GAS CAP AS TH E CAUSE. THE VEHICLE WAS MANUEVERED / COASTED WITHOUT POWERTRAIN ASSISTANCE TO PARKING LOT ADJACENT TO THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT INJURY / INCIDENT. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALORSHI ON . 6/15/07) INFORMED BY GM REPRESENTATIVE THAT COMPONENT REPLACEMENT / REPAIR NEEDED, SPECIFICS UNKNOWN, COST $2400 OF WHICH GM WOULD PAY 50%; MY COST $1200. *AK
DAILY FAILURE OF SEEDOMETER ON MY 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THIS WAS IN ADDITION TO FAILURE OF THE FUEL GAUGE. THE SPEEDOMETER PROBLEM WAS INCONSISTENT AND MADE ME QUESTION THE ACTUAL SPEED AT EVERY MOMENT AND MADE ME MEASURE BASED ON OTHER TRAFFIC. IT IS A VERY DISTRACTING WAY TO DRIVE WITH ALL GAUGES MOVING AT TIMES AND THEN RETURNING TO A FIXED SETTING. I HAD THE CLUSTERBOARD REPLACED BY THE DEALER WHO CLAIMED THIS WAS NOT A COMMON PROBLEM. INSTRUMENT PANELS ON 3 YEAR OLD CARS DO NOT FAIL UNLESS THERE IS A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM. PLEASE PREVENT ACCIDENTS IN THE FUTURE THIS IS NOT A SAFE WAY TO OPERATE A VEHICLE. *TR
SWAY BAR LINKS (ALSO CALLED STABILIZER LINKS) REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES ON MY 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER: I HAD ALL 4 REPLACED IN MAY 2007 BY A LOCAL REPAIR BUSINESS, THEN 10 MONTHS LATER THE REAR 2 WERE REPLACED BY AUTODEALERSHIP IN MARCH 2008, THEN YET AGAIN 8 MONTHS LATER I HAD THE RIGHT REAR ONE REPLACED BY SAME AUTODEALERSHIP (IN ALL CASES PARTS WERE ONLY GOOD FOR 12,000 MILES AND I HAD TRAVELED OVER THE LIMIT). I ASKED THE AUTO DEALERSHIP IF THEY THEMSELVES HAVE SEEN A TREND IN REPLACING THESE PARTS THEY GAVE ME A GM# TO CALL - WHICH I DIDN'T. I FIGURED I WOULD START HERE FIRST. (I KNEW THERE WAS SOME KIND OF PROBLEM IN ALL THREE CASES WHEN I HEARD LOUD RATTLING NOISES COMING FROM REAR OF THE SUV - I ADDITIONALLY HAD ALL 3 REPAIR PLACES SHOW ME THE OLD SWAY BAR LINKS TO OBSERVE DAMAGE.) I DO HAVE HIGH MILEAGE ON MY TRAILBLAZER BUT REPLACING SWAY BAR LINKS 3 TIMES ON SAME VEHICLE SEEMS EXCESSIVE. *TR
ABS ACTIVATION AT LOW SPEED AND THEN ABS HOLDING UP. I ALMOST GOT INTO 3 ACCIDENTS WITH SMALL CHILDREN IN CAR. I HAVE REPLACED BRAKE PADS, ROTORS, ABS SENSORS, CALIPERS, BRAKE LINES AND BRAKE SWITCH. NOTHING WORKS. FRONT TIRE AREA CATCHES ON FIRE IF DRIVEN FOR LONG DISTANCES. HARD TIME STOPPING. GM WILL NOT RECALL OR REPAIR. THERE IS A TSB (020525006) ON SAME PROBLEM BUT NOT FOR MY STATE. RECALL IN OTHER PARTS OF COUNTRY FOR SAME PROBLEM, BUT GM STATES NOT FOR MY STATE EVEN THOUGH IT IS FOR SAME PROBLEM. VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. *TR
THE VEHICLES CLUSTERS WILL MALFUNCTION SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK. FOR EXAMPLE THE RPM GAUGE WILL STOP FUNCTIONING AS WILL THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE AND THE FUEL GAUGE WILL ALSO MALFUNCTION. SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT POPS UP ONCE A MONTH TAKEN VEHICLE TO SHOP BUT VEHICLE HAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. I BELIEVE IT HAS TO DO WITH VEHICLES CLUSTER THAT IS CONSTANTLY NOT WORKING , IT GOES CRAZY ALL OF A SUDDEN. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE VEHICLES CLUSTER FOR THIS PROBLEM TO BE CORRECTED. *TR
PULLING INTO TRAFFIC FLOW FROM A STOP TO 45 MPH WITHIN A SHORT DISTANCE THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY WIFE'S 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER INDICATED I WAS DOING 75 MPH. CONTINUING AT THE TRAFFIC FLOW SPEED OF ABOUT 45 WITH SLIGHT SLOWDOWNS AND SPEEDUPS FOR APPROXIMATELY 1.5 MILES THE SPEEDOMETER CLIMBED TO 85 MPH. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP IT WENT TO 80 MPH. THEN, ACCELERATING TO 35 MPH, IT NOW READ 105 MPH. WHEN I REACHED MY DESTINATION AND SHUT OFF THE TRUCK IT WENT TO 80 MPH NOT 0. TRUCK HAS 43,000 MILES ON IT. **AK
IN THE 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER ENGINE CHECK LIGHT STAYED ON. UNFORTUNATELY, NONE OF THE 10 CHEVROLET DEALERS WE TOOK THIS VEHICLE TO COULD DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM W UNTIL WE WERE PAST THE 70,000 MILES EXTRA WARRANTY CHEVROLET ADDED TO COVER ALL THE VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM. WARRANTY INFORMATION WAS ADDRESSED IN SPECIAL POLICY ADJUSTMENT- FUEL TANK INLET CHECK VALVE FRACTURE #05012 ON MARCH 14, 2005. APPARENTLY, AS WE WERE TOLD BY A CHEVROLET DEALER THIS VEHICLE HAD A FRACTURE IN THE GAS TANK, AND THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT WAS TO REPLACE THE TANK. THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM, BUT I HAVE FOUND NUMBER OF ARTICLES OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING OF THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET. THIS WAS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY FOR US, AS THIS VEHICLE WAS THE PRIMARY TRANSPORTATION FOR MY CHILDREN TO AND FROM SCHOOL. *AK
MOST DASHBOARD GAUGES FAILED ON THE 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. TOTAL LOSS OF FUEL GAUGE, AMP GAUGE, TEMPERATURE GAUGE AND OIL PRESSURE GAUGE. IN ADDITION TO THESE FAILURES ODOMETER DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. ALSO, OTHER DRIVER INFORMATION COMPUTER ITEMS DID NOT FUNCTION. ABS, PARKING BRAKE AND BATTERY LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. AFTER A WHILE OF DRIVING ALL DASHBOARD FUNCTIONS RETURNED TO NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST FEW DAYS.
THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I NEVER KNOW WHAT SPEED I AM GOING. IT READS 120 MPH WHEN I AM AT A RED LIGHT! I'M CONSTANTLY IN FEAR OF BEING PULLED OVER BY POLICE WHETHER I'M IN THE CITY OR OUT IN THE COUNTRY BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW IF I'M FOLLOWING THE SPEED LIMIT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THE WHOLE DASHBOARD NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE PRICE OF THE PART IS @ $280 PLUS LABOR. SOME OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS HAVE BURNT OUT AND LABELING OF KNOBS HAVE FADED. THE HUB CAPS ON THE 17" WHEELS AREN'T SECURE ENOUGH. THEY COME OFF EASY WHEN DRIVING THROUGH WATER. I LOST THEM DURING A STORM AND HAD TO REPLACE THEM WHEN I SAW THEY WERE MISSING. OF THESE, WHAT WORRIES ME THE MOST IS THE SPEEDOMETER AS IT IS IMPORTANT FOR SAFE DRIVING. *TR
MY SPEEDOMETER STOP WORKING. ONE DAY WHILE DRIVING, I CHECKED MY SPEED ONLY TO REALIZE THE SPEEDOMETER WAS NOT WORKING. A FEW DAYS LATER IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN. NOW THE NONE OF THE GAUGES (SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER , ECT.) ARE WORKING. *TR
INSTURMENT PANEL NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE SPEEDOMOTER STARTED OUT SHOWING RANDOM SPEEDS AND NOWWA S PERMENANTLY STUCK AT 89 MPH NO MATTER IF THE CAWASS RUNNING OR NOT. THE RPM GAUGE ALSO DOID NOT MOVE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL, THERE APPEARSE DTO BE A LARGE PROBLEM WITH THIS ISSUE. *AK
2004 TRAILBLAZER. 45,000 MILES. SPEEDOMETER AND RPM GAUGE GOES UP AND DOWN, STICKING OR NOT MOVING AT ALL. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 TRAILBLAZER. I HAD TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BECAUSE OF ISSUES WITH IT. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ALL THE TIME. IT WOULD REV UP THE RPMS FOR NO REASON AND MAKE A WEIRD SOUND. IT WOULD NOT GO INTO 4 -WHEEL DRIVE OR OUT OF IT LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO. AND OTHER THINGS. I HAD IT CHECKED, AND THEY SAID IT WAS ALL FINE AND THEY COULDNT DUPLICATE THE ERRORS. HOWEVER, SUBSEQUENTLY, THE TRANSMISSION HAS GONE OUT 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 4 MONTHS. I HAVE HAD IT REPLACED 3 TIMES. IT IS NOW AT THE TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THEY STATE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE HAS TOO MUCH TRAVEL TO IT FRONT TO REAR. THE CRANK SHAFT SPECIFICALLY WHICH IS ALLOWING THE TORQUE CONVERTER TO PULL AWAY FROM THE FRONT PUMP AND BREAK THE ROTAR ASSEMBLY IN THE FRONT PUMP OF THE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS GETTING EXPENSIVE AND FRUSTRATING. ARE THERE ANY OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME ISSUES OR IS THERE AN ISSUE WITH THE CRANK SHAFT? COULD IT BE THE TRANSMISSION IS BUILT WRONG? THIS IS REDICULOUS!! I HAVE ONLY 70,000 MILES ON IT. WHY WOULD I BUY CHEVY PRODUCTS IF THEY CONTINUE TO FAIL AT SUCH LOW MILES. *AK
WHILE SLOWING FOR A STOPLIGHT THE VEHICLE COMPLETLY SHUT OFF INCLUDING THE STEERING. THE CAR SWERVED INTO ANOTHER CAR'S LANE. AFTER I STARTED IT AGAIN, AND IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO MCCOMB CHEVROLET. THEY SAID IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE ELECTRONIC COMPUTER, AND RESET THE COMPUTER. THE SECOND TIME I WAS SLOWING TO GO AROUND A CURVE AND IT SHUT OFF AGAIN, AND THE VEHICLE WENT INTO A DITCH. MY DAUGHTER BUMBED HER HEAD ON THE SIDE DOOR. THIS TIME MCCOMB SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG ,BUT MAYBE IT WAS WATER IN THE FUEL LINE. THE THIRD TIME I WAS SLOWING AGAIN AROUND A CURVE AND IT SHUT OFF, AND VEERED OFF THE ROAD. I HAVE NOT CALLED MCCOMB AS OF YET. THIS WAS VERY ALARMING AND DANGEROUS. I AM NOW SCARED TO DRIVE IT ESPECIALLY WITH MY CHILDREN.*AK
I PURCHASED A 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER IN AUGUST OF 2004. OVER TWO YEARS AGO MY SPEEDOMETER STARTED TO FLUCTUATE SHOWING I WAS GOING 10 MILES AN HOUR WHILE I WAS IN THE FAST LANE ON THE FREEWAY GOING AT LEAST 65. AFTER MONTHS OF FLUCTUATING IT STOPPED WORKING. I NOW HAVE 84,000 MILES ON MY CAR. I AM GUESSING THE SPEEDOMETER IT WENT OUT AROUND 65,000. I DO NOT FEEL THAT A CAR THAT IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD SHOULD HAVE A SPEEDOMETER THAT WON'T WORK ANYMORE. I FOUND THAT THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH OTHER MODELS BESIDES THE TRAILBLAZER. I CALLED MY LOCAL GM DEALER AND THEY ADVISED THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. I CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE THIS FIXED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT GM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING. *TR
GAUGES STOPPED WORKING ON MY 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER FIRST THE RPM GAUGE THEN THE OIL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE FOLLOWED AND NOW THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING IM WAITING FOR MY FUEL GAUGE TO GO NEXT. AIR CONDITIONER CONTROLLER WILL NOT WORK ON THE #1 SETTING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN SHE STEERED THE VEHICLE SHE HEARD A GRINDING NOISE AND SOMETIMES FELT VIBRATION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN TURNING OR JUST SWITCHING LANES. SPEED WAS NOT A FACTOR. THE NOISES BEGAN THE FIRST WEEK OF APRIL 2007, AND BECAME MORE DISTINCT, CONSISTENT, AND LOUD. ALSO, THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THEREWAS NOW A PERIODIC RATTLING AND CLUNKING SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 62,400, AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000. THE CONTACT HAD THE NAME OF THE DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, BUT COULD NOT PROVIDE THE ADDRESS OR TELEPHONE NUMBER. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER EXT. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH THE TOP MOLDING ON THE REAR WINDOW SUDDENLY DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE COLD AND WINDY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS THE CONTACT'S FAULT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 78,000.*AK
MY VEHICLE HAS NUMEROUS TIMES QUIT RUNNING (SINCE PURCHASE 2004) BY FIRST BEING UNSTABLE AND ROUGH ENGINE IDLE. IT'S MORE NOTICEABLE AFTER DRIVING FOR LONG PERIOD OF TIME ON HIGHWAY AND THEN COMING TO A FULL STOP AT AN EXIT; VEHICLE WILL SURGE AT LOW SPEED/SHUDDER AND WILL STOP RUNNING. THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP VEHICLE RUNNING IS BY PRESSING GAS AND BRAKE (NOT SAFE). TALKED TO DEALERSHIP AN THERE IS NO FIX. *TR
MY SPEEDOMETER SOMETIMES READS ABOUT 20 MPH OFF THEN WON'T RESET WHEN I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. IT JUST STAYS AT 20 MPH...THEN SOMETIMES IT DOES RESET AND WORKS FINE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT SINCE THE PROBLEM WASN'T HAPPENING AT THE TIME I TOOK IT IN THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING EXCEPT RE-PROGRAM THE SPEEDO. THAT DIDN'T HELP, IT HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER THAT. *JB
2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. IT SHOWED ZERO WHEN I AM GOING AT LEAST 40 MPH, THEN MOVES A LITTLE, AND NOW IS SHOWING LIKE 110 MPH WHEN I AM GOING AROUND 50 MPH. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE. I HAVE AROUND 56,000 MILES ON IT. IS GM PLANNING ON A RECALL, THISWASA EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BEAR THE COST OF REPAIRS. *AK
I WAS REAR ENDED BY A GUY DOING 40 MPH. MY TRUCK WAS LIFTED IN THE AIR AND PUSHED INTO THE REAR END OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. MY AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED AND MY SEAT BROKE!! POSSIBLE DEFECT IN THE SEAT? I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT WHEN THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED. THE SPARE TIRE HOLDER WAS RIPPED OFF MY TRUCK. *TR

INTERMITTENT HEADLIGHT AND VOLTAGE PROBLEMS, THE VEHICLE IS A 2004 TRAILBLAZER, THE PROBLEM BEGAN IN THE FALL OF 2004...HEADLIGHTS AND VOLTAGE GAUGE WOULD DIM AND DROP, WOULD CONTINUE TO DO THIS INTERMITTENTLY...DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR TWICE..ALSO THE DASH HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE DUE TO THE VOLTAGE SPIKES CAUSED BY THIS...THE LAST TIME I TOOK IT IN THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT GM HAD ISSUED A BULLETIN ON THIS SAYING IT WAS " THE NATURE OF THE BEAST" THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY A SECONDARY SMOG PUMP THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO COME ON ONLY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS 1ST STARTED...BUT COULD ALSO KEEP KICKING IN AND OUT CAUSING A SEVERE VOLTAGE DRAW...MY TRUCK NOW HAS 50,000 MILES ON IT, AM AFRAID THESE VOLTAGE SPIKES WILL TAKE OUT ANOTHER DASH, I FEEL GM HAS A SERIOUS DEFECT WITH THIS AND FEEL THIS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS THE HEADLIGHTS ALL BUT GO OUT AT LOW SPEEDS, THE DEALERSHIP HERE HAS DONE ALL THAT GM WILL ALLOW THEM TO DO ACCORDING TO THEM. *JB

2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. CONSUMER WAS DRIVING 65-70-MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE BROKE OFF THE VEHICLE. *MC ALL SIX BOLTS WERE BROKEN WITH THE NUTS STILL SCREWED ONTO THE BOLTS.(OHIO TRAFFIC CRASH REPORT) *JB
WHEN CHECKING MY BRAKES I NOTICED THAT THE INSIDE OF THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WHERE CORRODED AND RUSTY. THE VEHICLE IS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER WITH 32,262 HIGHWAY MILES. APPROXIMATELY 25-30% OF THE INSIDE OF THE ROTOR WERE RUSTED AND HAD WORN DOWN THE BRAKE PAD. SO ONLY 70% OF THE INSIDE BRAKE PAD WAS BEING USED FOR BRAKING. THIS CAUSES THE BRAKE PADS TO WEAR UNEVENLY. APPEARS THAT THIS COULD BE SERIOUS IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. I CHECKED THE REAR ROTORS AND THEY ARE STARTING TO DO THE SAME BUT ONLY 1/2" ON THE OUTER EDGE OF BRAKE ROTOR IS RUSTED. I CHECKED THE RECALLS AND THERE WERE NONE FOR BRAKES. I CHECKED WITH CHEVY AND THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS. IN CHECKING WEBSITES, TRAILBLAZERCLUB AND TRAILVOY, OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME OR SIMILAR ISSUE. I WOULD ASSUME THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE METAL. *NM
SPEEDOMETER FAULTY AND SHOWING WILDLY INACCURATE SPEEDS. WHEN DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, THE SPEEDOMETER WILL RANGE FROM 10 MPH TO 120 MPH! WHILE CONDUCTING RESEARCH ONLINE, THIS APPEARS TO BE A MAJOR WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH GM TRUCKS AND THEY HAVE NOT TAKEN ANY ACTION TO CORRECT THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION. MY VEHICLE IS RECENTLY OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE REPAIR WILL COST OVER $600. *JB
2004 TRAILBLAZER LS WITH CODE P0455 DIAGNOSED WITH BROKEN/CRACKED SEAM ON FUEL TANK INLET NECK. VERY STRONG FUEL ODORS BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE VEHICLE. CHEVY ACKNOWLEDGED THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 2002 MODELS VIA CAMPAIGN #05012. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, CAN LEAKING FUEL AND/OR BREATHING FUMES BE DEEMED AS SAFE? CHEVY NEEDS TO STEP UP AND PROACTIVELY FIX THE PROBLEM ON ALL TRAILBLAZER MODELS. I KNOW BOTH NHTSA AND CHEVY KNOW OF THIS PROBLEM ALREADY, SO ARE LIABLE IF NOTHING IS DONE. *JB
SINCE 2007 MY INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER OF MY 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER (WHICH I PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2004 FROM DEALERSHIP) GOES ON AND OFF SOME DAYS IT WORKS AND SOME DAYS IT DOES NOT. I COULD BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH AND GAUGES GO OUT. I AM UNSURE AT TIMES HOW MUCH GAS IS IN MY CAR AND JUST HAVE TO ESTIMATE AND FILL THE TANK. I ATTEMPTED TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP HELP ME OUT BECAUSE I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT THEY WERE BOUGHT OUT BY ANOTHER DEALER. I WROTE TO CHEVROLET AND THEY REFUSED TO HELP ME OUT. I AM UNABLE TO PAY THE $700 TO $800 THEY HAVE QUOTED ME TO PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED. THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM SO IT SHOULD BE RECALLED BY CHEVROLET. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE ALL OF THE LIGHTS GO OUT SOMETIMES AT NIGHT SO I HAVE REFRAINED FROM DRIVING AT NIGHT VERY MUCH. *TR

I HAVE OWNED MY TRAILBLAZER FOR ABOUT 1 1/2 YEARS. IN THE LAST YEAR MY GAUGES ARE NOT WORKING. I DON'T KNOW HOW FAST I AM GOING, I DON'T KNOW IF IT OVER HEATS BECAUSE IT IS STUCK IN THE HOT, I DON'T KNOW IF MY OIL PRESSURE IS TO HIGH AND IF MY MOTOR WILL BLOW UP. IT ONLY HAS 66,800 MILES ON IT. FROM WHAT I HEARD GM SAYS IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM, BUT YET THEY ISSUED RECALLS FOR DASH CLUSTERS FOR OTHER MODELS FOR THE SAME EXACT REASON. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO HAVE IT FIXED, IT IS A DEFECT THAT GM SHOULD OWN UP TO. IT IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE IF THE GAUGES DON'T WORK FOR ME TO KNOW THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG AND LEAVES ME AND MY FAMILY SETTING IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. ODOMETER FAILURE AFTER 81,000 MILES... ODOMETER WILL LOCK ON DIFFERENT SPEEDS, FROM 10-40- 110 MPH EVEN THOUGH I AM NOT TRAVELING THAT SPEED. MY MECHANIC SAYS THAT THIS PART NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BECAUSE HE HAS HAD TO REPLACE SO MANY CHEVROLET TAHOE AND TRAILBLAZERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS PART CAN RUN OVER $300.00 SOMETIMES. *JB

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. SHE STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER AND THE GAS GAUGE WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN SHE HEARS A HUMMING NOISE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEMS HOWEVER; THEY SUGGESTED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BE REPLACED. THE DEALER HAS NOT MADE THE REPLACEMENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
I HAVE A 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER LT. ON THE GAS TANK WHERE THE FILL NECK IS CONNECTED TO IT, THE SEAM IS CRACKED AND LEAKS GAS. I HAVE TRIED TO HAVE THE TANK REPAIRED BUT WITH NO SUCCESS. I HAVE CONTACTED GM AND VISITED A CHEVY DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS CONCERN AND THEY WANT ME TO PAY $1,300 + PLUS CHANGE THE TANK. THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DAMAGED IN A WRECK. THIS IS SIMPLY A DEFECTIVE PART THAT CAUSES A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME. I HAVE READ OF OTHER TRAILBLAZER GAS TANKS CRACKING AT THE SAME LOCATION THAT RESULTED IN A CAMPAIGN TO REPLACE THEM. I THINK THAT GM SHOULD REPLACE THESE TANKS THAT CRACK BEFORE THEY RESULT IN A FIRE AND CAUSE DAMAGE OR INJURY. GM AND THE DEALERSHIP HAVE DEMONSTRATED NO CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY AND THAT OF MY FAMILY. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FROM 5 TO 50 MPH, FULL PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE BRAKES DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. DRIVING INTO A CURB WAS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE VEHICLE. RESULTING IN TIRE AND WHEEL DAMAGE. NO PERSONAL INJURY WAS CAUSED. *NM
AT 40,000 MILES MY CHEVY TRAILBLAZER'S SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING- AT 120 MPH AND HAS BEEN STUCK THERE FOR A WEEK. *JB

BEGINNING IN JANUARY OF 2007, THE GAS GAUGE FAILED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, WHICH PREVENTED THE CONTACT FROM KNOWING THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. SOON AFTERWARDS, THE SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION AND BEGAN DISPLAYING INACCURATE READINGS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED, BUT ARRANGEMENTS ARE BEING MADE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,585 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,068.

OCTOBER 5, 2005 I BOUGHT A 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. AT TIME OF PURCHASE, I WAS OFFERED A TIRES FOR LIFE DEAL. ALL THAT WAS REQUIRED OF ME WAS TO HAVE THE MAINTENANCE DONE AT CHEVY AND TO HAVE TIRE ROTATIONS AND OIL CHANGES EVERY 3000 MILES. I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS. LAST OIL CHANGE AND ROTATION ON JAN 8, THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED FRONT BRAKES. 57,500 MILES ON VEHICLE. I SAID OKAY AND SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR JAN.15. AT THAT TIME, THEY TOLD ME I WOULD NEED NEW ROTORS ALSO. AT THIS POINT I WAS STARTING TO MISTRUST THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY PUT MY VEHICLE BACK TOGETHER AND I WENT TO BIG O TIRES FOR A SECOND OPINION. UPON THEIR CHECKING MY VEHICLE, THEY FOUND ALL FOUR ROTORS TO BE BAD! IT APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER IS USING A DEFECTIVE METAL TO MAKE THE ROTORS. BIG O CLAIMS THAT IT IS A POTENTIAL LAW SUIT AND THEY SHOULD DO A RECALL. THEY HAVE HAD NUMEROUS CASES COME IN LIKE MINE NOT ONLY ON THE TRAILBLAZER BUT OTHER CHEVY TRUCKS AND SUV'S. THE BRAKES WEREN'T ACTUALLY WORE THAT BAD BUT ALL FOUR ROTORS WERE RUSTED AND PITTED. THESE ROTORS HAD NEVER BEEN TURNED THEY STILL HAD MANUFACTURER CLIPS ON THEM. IT WAS DEFINITELY A SIGN OF POOR QUALITY PARTS NOT REGULAR WEAR AND TEAR. ALSO, CHEVY MAKES ME WONDER WHY THEY DID NOT NOTICE THIS EARLIER? I HAVE BEEN IN THEIR SHOP EVERY 3000 MILES FOR ROTATION, THEY SHOULD HAVE NOTICED THIS RIGHT AWAY. IT IS AS IF THEY WERE TRYING TO HIDE SOMETHING. HERE IN 2 WEEKS I WILL BE GETTING NEW FRONT ROTORS AND BRAKES. THEN AS SOON AS I CAN AFFORD IT I AM GOING TO GET THE BACK ROTORS REPLACED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A RUBBING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. SHE THEN NOTICED A BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE OIL CAP FOR THE FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE FAILED. THE CAP WAS REPLACED AT THE COST OF $5 AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO NEVER PLACE THE VEHICLE INTO FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE. ONE YEAR LATER, WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT HEARD A HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. SHE WAS ABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO HER DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THE TECHNICIAN DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FAILED. THE REPAIR WOULD COST $2,000. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE DID NOT RECEIVE REGULAR MAINTENANCE FROM A DEALER, NO COMPENSATION WOULD BE PROVIDED TOWARDS THE REPAIR. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
DASH WARNING LIGHTS COME ON/STAY ON/GO OFF RANDOMLY. ADDITIONALLY, ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS, DECREASED ENGINE POWER HAS OCCURRED. SHUTTING VEHICLE DOWN WITH A RESTART HAS ALWAYS SOLVED THE "DECREASED POWER" ISSUE. BUT DEALERSHIP & AN INDEPENDENT GARAGE CANNOT FIX DUE TO "NO CODES STORED". WARNING LIGHT INVOLVED ARE: SERVICE ENGINE SOON, OIL CHANGE DUE AND REDUCED POWER. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM HAVING STARTED ALMOST AS SOON AS WE TOOK DELIVERY OF VEHICLE NEW WITH 250 MILES .*JB
TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON 1/13/07 HE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE WITH HIS 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE ODOMETER READ 33,000 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. HE WAS DRIVING AT 45 MPH AND COLLIDED WITH THE SECOND VEHICLE IN A PERPENDICULAR ANGLE "T-BONE" STRIKING IT ON THE SIDE AS IT CROSSED IN FRONT OF HIM. THE DRIVER WAS THE ONLY OCCUPANT IN THE VEHICLE AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG NEVER DEPLOYED. THERE WERE 5 PEOPLE INJURED IN THE SECOND VEHICLE. *NM
