I HAVE ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM WITH THE SPEEDOMETER NOT WORKING PROPERLY OR NOT WORKING AT ALL IN SOME CASES, SOMETIMES GET STUCK AT A CERTAIN SPEED
FUEL GAUGE INOPERATIVE. NEEDLE SWINGS FROM EMPTY TO FULL ERRATICALLY. WHEN TANK IS RE-FILLED, GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY WITH WARNING LIGHT AND CHIME ON. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE GAS TANK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET TRAIL BLAZER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 50 MPH ON A SLICK MOUNTAIN ROAD WHEN THE VEHICLE HYDROPLANED AND CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF A MOUNTAIN BEFORE FALLING INTO A DITCH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE CONTACT AND TWO PASSENGERS SUSTAINED INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED FOR THE FAILURE OF THE AIR BAGS. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED BY HIS INSURANCE ADJUSTER THAT THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
FUEL GAUGE IN 2005 TRAILBLAZER DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. IT SHOWS AS BEING EMPTY WHEN FULL AND 1/4 FULL WHEN ALMOST EMPTY. *TR
I OWN A 2005 TRAILBLAZER THAT I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE SPEEDOMETER THAT AT CERTAIN TIMES WILL EITHER STOP WORKING OR READ INCORRECTLY (EITHER OVER OR UNDER) THE SPEED OF WHAT THE TRUCK IS ACTUALLY DOING. MY WIFE DRIVES THIS VEHICLE AND I'M CONCERNED ABOUT HER DRIVING IT AND GM IS SAYING THAT IT WILL COST AROUND 500 OR MORE TO REPAIR, BUT YET THEY HAVE A RECALL FOR THE 03-04 BUT NOT THE 05 OR NEWER, WHY? WHAT CAN BE DONE TO GET THIS SITUATION REPAIRED SINCE THEY DEFINITELY HAVE A FAULTY PRODUCT?? *TR
FUEL WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF AT WILL. FUEL GAUGE WORKS WHEN IT FEELS LIKE IT SHOULD. NO CONSISTENCY. *TR
SPEEDOMETER WILL SIT AT 0 MILES PER HOUR OR WILL BE 30 MILES PER HOUR LOWER. SPEEDOMETER WILL SIT BELOW 0 WHEN IDLE. WHEN I RESTART IT, IT MAY BE FINE OR GO BACK TO BELOW 0 TO VERY LOW MILES. I HAPPENS MORE WHEN WARMER AND RUNNING A WHILE. I SEE THAT IS A PROBLEM FOR MANY CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZERS.
MY 2005 TRAILBLAZER SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING. WHILE DRIVING THE SPEEDOMETER WILL READ 120 MPH OR MORE WHILE I AM ONLY DRIVING 70 MPH. I VERIFY MY SPEED THROUGH MY GARMIN GPS. THIS HAPPENS FOR NO RHYME OR REASON SOMETIMES IT WORKS FINE AND THE NEXT MINUTE IT IS BROKEN AGAIN. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS I WAS TRAVELING 250 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY AND THOUGHT I WAS TRAVELING AT 70 MPH BUT I WAS REALLY DOING 50. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT EVERYONE INCLUDING SEMI TRUCKS WHERE WHIZZING BY MY AND I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHY. THIS CAUSED ME TO BE ALMOST RUN OFF THE ROAD AS A SEMI ALMOST REAR ENDED ME AS HE SLAMMED HIS BRAKES ON. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM YET AS GM WANTS 450 DOLLARS TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED. I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF POSTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS EXACT PROBLEM ON 2005 TRAILBLAZERS. APPARENTLY THERE IS A RECALL ON OTHER GM VEHICLES WITH THIS SPEEDOMETER JUST NOT ON THE TRAILBLAZER. *TR
I WENT TO FILL UP MY GAS TANK AND THE GAUGE READ EMPTY. I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND WAS TOLD IT WAS BECAUSE OF FAULTY EQUIPMENT. I CAN NOT TELL HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE IN MY TRUCK AND I'M AFRAID THAT MY TRUCK WILL GIVE OUT OF GAS, STALL, AND I GET REAR ENDED. THIS IS DANGEROUS. ALSO, AT ABOUT 85,000 THE SPEEDOMETER HAS FAILED. IT READS 0 WHEN I'M DRIVING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED AN IMPROPER READING WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
FUEL GAUGE QUIT WORKING. NOW THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE WORKS ONLY SOME OF THE TIME. *TR
GAS GAUGE SENSOR DEFECTIVE IN MY 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. SAFETY ISSUE; I HAVE PERSONALLY RAN OUT OF GAS BECAUSE OF THIS. REPLACED ONCE WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, REPLACED AGAIN 6/28 OUT OF POCKET COST BECAUSE WARRANTY NO LONGER VALID. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE AND TALKING TO OTHER TRAILBLAZER OWNERS, THIS PROBLEM IS PRETTY COMMON AND BELIEVED TO BE A DEFECT WITH THE VEHICLE. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER (77,000) MILES. THE SPEEDOMETER AND TAC HAS GONE HAYWIRE. WE HAD A VERY WARM DAY AND WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THE POINTER WAS AT 6:00 O CLOCK WHEN I STOP IT SHOWS THAT THE CAR IS GOING 110 MILES PER HOUR. MY TAC IS ALSO GOING WACKO. I HAVE BEEN READING THAT MAY OTHERS WITH TRAILBLAZERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I CALLED GM AND THEY TOLD ME THEY DID HAVE A RECALL ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WITH OTHER VEHICLES BUT NOT THE CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER[XXX] . THE APPROX COST FOR REPAIR IS $550.00. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY THE GAS GAUGE INDICATOR BEEPED INDICATING THAT I WAS LOW ON FUEL. I WAS NOT SURE WHEN I FILLED UP LAST SO I STOPPED AND FILLED UP WITH GAS. AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS, I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, THE GAS GAUGE STILL READ EMPTY. TWO MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS I HAD TO REPLACE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ON THE DASH (SPEEDOMETER, ETC), SO WITH THIS BEING THE CASE, I DETERMINED THAT THE GAS SENDING UNIT WAS FAULTY OR BROKEN. FROM WHAT I READ, THE COST TO FIX THIS VARIES FROM $650 TO $850. I'VE PUT OFF THIS REPAIR SINCE I FIND THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND HAVE HEARD NEWS REPORTS ABOUT A POSSIBLE RECALL FOR THIS. BASICALLY NOW, THE GAUGE IS NEVER CORRECT AND FLUCTUATES BETWEEN EMPTY & 1/4 OF A TANK. IT WILL DROP OR RISE MULTIPLE TIMES IN A 20 MILE TRIP.
I OWN A 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. RECENTLY, MY GAS GAUGE BEGAN ACTING UP. IT STATES THAT THE GAS TANK IS EMPTY RIGHT AFTER I FILL UP. IT CONSTANTLY READJUSTS ITSELF. I NEVER KNOW EXACTLY HOW MUCH GAS IS IN MY CAR. IT IS A VERY FRUSTRATING PROBLEM AND AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. EXTENSIVE INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR OTHER TRAILBLAZER OWNERS AS WELL. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY GM HAS NOT RECALLED THIS. *TR
THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHERE MY HEADLIGHTS (ONLY) WILL NOT COME ON AT NIGHT OR THEY WILL SHUT OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING. AGAIN IT IS ONLY MY HEADLIGHTS. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY. ONE DAY IT WILL DO THAT AND THE NEXT DAY IT WON'T SO OF COARSE WHEN I TAKE IT TO THE SHOP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT EVERYTHING IS FINE. HOWEVER I KNOW I AM NOT ALONE BECAUSE OF THE WEB SEARCHES I HAVE DONE ON THE ISSUE I CAN SEE THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. *TT
MY 2005 TRAILBLAZER EXT WILL NOT READ THE CORRECT LEVEL OF FUEL. MOST OF THE TIME IT WILL NOT READ ANY FUEL AT ALL. IF IT SHOWS ANY AMOUNT, THAT AMOUNT WILL BE VERY INACCURATE. WITHIN A 10 MILE DISTANCE, THE RANGE WILL CHANGE FROM 400 MILES TO 85 MILES. VERY UNSAFE CONDITION DUE TO HIGH POTENTIAL OF RUNNING OUT OF FUEL IN A HIGHWAY SITUATION. *TR
WE PURCHASED A 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER LS AND ABOUT A TWO MONTHS AGO THE SPEEDOMETER WILL BEGIN TO STOP WORKING PROPERLY. AFTER 40 MINS OF DRIVING THE GAUGE FAILS AND WILL STAY AROUND 20 OR BE BELOW 0 MPH EVEN ON THE HIGHWAY. I CONTACTED A LOCAL DEALER WHO SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS MODEL AND IT WOULD COST ME OVER 500 DOLLARS TO REPAIR. I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS VEHICLE AS I HAVE HEARD HUNDREDS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME FOR THIS MODEL, AND OTHER GMC MODELS. IS ANYONE GOING TO STAND FOR US, THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A FAULTY VEHICLE. PLEASE HELP. *TR
THE GAS GAUGE BEGAN BY ONLY WORKING PERIODICALLY AND NOW EITHER INDICATES A FULL TANK OR EMPTY TANK, (MOSTLY EMPTY) AT ALL TIMES REGARDLESS OF THE ACTUAL LEVEL IN THE TANK. *TR
WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY TO FLORIDA FROM OHIO I FELT A BUDGE AND THEN HEARD THE VEHICLE SOUND LIKE IT WAS DOWN SHIFTING AND THE RPMS WERE HIGH. I PULLED OFF THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND HEADED BACK HOME DOING 40 MPH SINCE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT PAST 2ND GEAR. ALSO THE VEHICLE SHIFTED GEARS HARSHLY. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD INFORMED ME THAT I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THE THIS SAME SUBJECT. I AM ASSUMING THAT MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW WHERE TO REPORT SUCH INCIDENTS. *TR
AFTER STARTING MY VEHICLE SOMETIMES THE RPM GAUGE WILL NOT MOVE, LIKE THE VEHICLE HAS NOT STARTED, THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO TURN THE KEY AGAIN CAUSING MY STARTER TO MAKE AN AWFUL SOUND, SINCE THE CAR WAS ALREADY RUNNING, RPM GAUGE HOWEVER WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. MY SPEEDOMETER WILL START OUT AT 0 LIKE NORMAL BUT THEN WILL STICK AND GO BACK DOWN TO 0 WHICH DOESN'T ALLOW ME TO SEE THE SPEED I AM GOING, AT TIMES IT WILL STICK AROUND 40 MPH. THE FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT WORK IT ALWAYS SAYS I AM EMPTY. WHICH BRINGS ME TO MY FINAL POINT, MY ODOMETER HAS STARTED STICKING, I GAUGE MY GAS MILEAGE BY MY ODOMETER, THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS PROBLEM SINCE THE ODOMETER IS STICKING, I COULD BE THINKING I HAVE ENOUGH GAS WHEN IN REALITY I DO NOT, THIS COULD CAUSE ME TO RUN OUT OF GAS, NOT TO MY OWN ERROR BUT DUE TO THE MALFUNCTIONING GAUGES, WHICH COULD CAUSE ME TO STALL AND BE REAR ENDED. I TRAVEL ON THE INTERSTATE ALMOST EVERYDAY AND I AM SERIOUSLY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHER DRIVERS. *TR
I BOUGHT MY 2005 TRAILBLAZER NEW IN 2006. THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR QUIT WORKING AND I HAD TO USE A BUNGEE CORD TO KEEP IT SHUT UNTIL I GOT IT IN TO A MECHANIC TO LOOK AT. I WAS TOLD THAT SOMEHOW WATER GOT INSIDE THE DOOR AND DAMAGED THE COMPONENTS MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO GET THE DOOR TO SHUT BUT WARNED ME IF IT WAS OPENED AGAIN IT MAY NOT SHUT SO IT HAS BEEN DUCT-TAPED UP SO MY CHILDREN WON'T INADVERTENTLY USE IT. I NOTICED RUST ON THE TOP OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF THE MOON ROOF VERY EARLY ON. THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR HAS TO BE OPENED GENTLY FROM THE BACK PORTION OF THE HANDLE AS IT APPEARS IT IS GOING TO BREAK OFF IN THE NEAR FUTURE. THE REAR HATCH AND ALSO THE GLASS PORTION OF THE HATCH BACK HAS NOW STOPPED WORKING. IT WAS BROUGHT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND I ASKED THE MECHANIC TO CHECK IT OUT HE WAS ABLE TO GET IT UNLOCKED A COUPLE TIMES BY PRESSING THE AUTO UNLOCK ON THE KEY REPEATEDLY (MORE THAN 3 TIMES HE SAID) I HAVE NOT BEEN AS FORTUNATE AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE THE REAR QUARTERS NOW BECAUSE OF THIS. *TR
AT APPROX 36,800 MILES THE GAS GAUGE NO LONGER FUNCTIONED. THE LOW FUEL LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON AND THE GAS GAUGE ALWAYS SHOWS EITHER EMPTY OR 1/2 FULL EVEN AFTER A FILL UP. IN ORDER TO NOT RUN OUT OF GAS, YOU NEED TO KEEP TRACK OF MILEAGE WITH TRIP METER AND FILL UP AT 150 TO 175 MILES. THE COST TO FIX THIS MALFUNCTION IS OVER $500. IN ADDITION, THE THERMOSTAT FROZE OPEN AND NEEDED REPLACED ALONG WITH THE SENSOR INSIDE THE THERMOSTAT. THIS HAPPENED AT 48,000 MILES. *TR
ROUGHLY ABOUT 6/7/10 MY FUEL GAGE QUIT WORKING AND NOW ON 11/2/10 MY SPEEDOMETER GAUGE STARTED ACTING UP AND IS NOT WORKING. THIS HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL BEING BAD.
2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER EXT - SPEEDOMETER HAS CEASED TO WORK. I EITHER SAYS I AM GOING ZERO OR 120 MPH. HAVE NOW GOTTEN 2 SPEEDING TICKETS AND CAN NOT GET INSPECTED UNTIL THIS ISSUE IS RESOLVED. I HAVE BEEN ON THE INTERNET FOR HOURS NOW AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME THING WITH THE SAME YEAR CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS. NEXT STEP ACCORDING TO MOST IS THE GAS GAUGE CEASING TO WORK. THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE ON THE RECALL LIST LIKE THE OTHER CHEVY VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT WORK ACCURATELY. I HAVE RAN OUT OF GAS TWICE BOTH TIMES THE GAUGE SHOWED THAT THERE WAS APPROX. 1/4 OF TANK REMAINING. OTHER TIMES AFTER FILLING THE GAUGE WILL DROP TO EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT AND CHIMES WILL COME ON WHILE DRIVING. VERY ANNOYING AND DISTRACTING. NO ACCIDENTS. *TR
2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAS INTERMITTENT FAILURE OF SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER. HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL YEARS, GM WANTS $600 TO REPLACE CLUSTER. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAS BEEN RECALLED ON EVERY OTHER GM VEHICLE THAT USES THIS CLUSTER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN FILLING THE VEHICLE WITH GASOLINE FUEL, THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR WOULD READ FUEL LEVELS AT EMPTY. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 72,000.
2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER FUEL GAUGE FLUCXUATING EVEN WHEN THERE IS A FULL TANK OF GAS. THIS CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STOP, STALL, CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. CAUSING EXTRA AMOUNTS OF MONEY TO PUT IN THE TANK WHEN NOT REALLY NECESSARY. THERE HAVE BEEN MORE THAN ENOUGH COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE, AND SHOULD NOT TAKE SOMEONE GETTING HURT IN ORDER FOR THE RECALL TO BE PASSED. YOU EXPECT US TO PAY $800-900 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED BUT WHEN IT IS RECALLED, IT WILL TAKE MONTHS TO EVEN GET REFUNDED FOR THE $$ WE PAID OUT FOR THE PROBLEM. I DIDN'T HAVE AN ACCIDENT, HOWEVER, I DID HAVE MY SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR WHEN IT STOPPED IN 90 DEGREE WEATHER IN CHARLOTTE NC. WE HAD TO WAIT FOR OVER AN HOUR FOR HELP TO ARRIVE. *TR
CLUSTER PANEL GONE BAD. SPEEDOMETER WAS SHOWING 21 MPH WHILE I WAS STOPPED. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED WITH THE CLUSTER PANEL BEING BAD. GM HAS HAD OTHER RECALLS FOR SIMILAR PART AND THIS SHOULD BE NO EXCEPTION. 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER 59,000 MILES. *TR
SINCE JUNE 2010, THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE ON MY 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER HAS NOT FUNCTIONED PROPERLY. REGARDLESS OF THE ACTUAL FUEL LEVEL, IT READS AT 1/4 TANK OR BELOW, WHICH CAUSES ME TO RELY ON MY TRIP ODOMETER TO ESTIMATE MY CURRENT FUEL LEVELS. I HAVE CHECKED WITH THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIPS, AND THEY ARE CHARGING BETWEEN $500 - $800 TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM! AS THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF TWO GM VEHICLES AND THE DAUGHTER AND GRANDDAUGHTER OF GENERAL MOTORS RETIREES', I AM SORELY DISAPPOINTED IN GENERAL MOTORS REFUSAL TO ADMIT THE FAILURE OF THE FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM THAT HAS AFFECTED THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES.

HE STATED THAT HE HAD TO REFUEL EVERY TWO HUNDRED MILES AND THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WOULD SHOW AN EMPTY READING DESPITE THE FUEL TANK BEING FULL TO CAPACITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

ABOUT A YEAR AGO MY SPEEDOMETER WOULD RANDOMLY SHOW A LOSS OR GAIN OF SPEED. ABOUT 8 MONTHS AGO IT QUIT WORKING ALL TOGETHER. IT DOES NOT REGISTER IN THE NUMBERS. DURING THE SAME TIME I RAN OUT OF GAS TWICE WHEN MY GAGE HAD REGISTERED FUEL AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT WAS NOT REGISTERED. IT HAS SINCE QUIT WORKING ALL TOGETHER. I RECENTLY CALLED TO ASK HOW MUCH AN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WOULD BE TO REPLACE AND WAS GIVEN A TOTAL OF ABOUT $600.00 THIS IS A VERY DISHEARTENING SITUATION. I HAVE READ ALL OTHER COMPLAINTS ON LINE AND THEY SAY THE SAME THING. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE AND AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED THAT IT HASN'T BEEN RESOLVED BY THE COMPANY. *TR
I STOPPED FOR GAS COMING HOME FROM LONG TRIP. ABOUT FIVE MILES LATER MY FUEL GAUGE WENT TO EMPTY. IT WOULD WORK SPORADICALLY FOR A FEW MONTHS THEN NOTHING. I HAVE NOTICED THAT INSTRUMENT PANEL GOES REALLY DIM ONCE IN A WHILE FOR NO REASON ALSO. I HAVE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM STATING THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR AND THEY ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR 50% OF COST TO FIX. IF THEY KNOW THEIR PART IS DEFECTIVE SHOULDN'T THEY RECALL AND TAKE CARE OF THEIR FAULTY PRODUCT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE, WINDOW SWITCH BEGAN TO SMOKE SO I PHYSICALLY REMOVED THE SWITCH AND HAVE SINCE NOT HAD POWER WINDOW ACCESS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT DOOR. THE COST TO REPLACE WAS TOO GREAT AND AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PRIORITY LIST. MORE RECENTLY, MAYBE 2 MONTHS AGO, THE DRIVER SIDE SWITCH SHOWED SIGNS OF THE SAME RESULTS AFTER A SMELL OF BURNING ELECTRONICS AND HEAT TO THE TOUCH SO I SIMPLY UNPLUGGED THE SWITCH ALL TOGETHER. THE COST TO REPLACE THESE SWITCHES IS QUITE SIGNIFICANT AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY LUCK WITH CHEVROLET IN THE PAST WITH COMPLAINTS SO I FIGURED I WOULD WAIT UNTIL I HAD A LITTLE EXTRA MONEY TO REPLACE THESE SWITCHES. ON THE NEWS TODAY I HEARD THE END OF A REPORT AND ONLY CAUGHT THE WORDS GM AND WINDOW SWITCHES SO I CAME HOME AND SEARCHED AND CAME ACROSS SO ARTICLES INVOLVING 2006 MODELS. THAT IS HOW I CAME ACROSS THIS WEBSITE. I WOULD VERY MUCH HATE TO FIND OUT THAT THE COMPANY DOES NOT KNOW THE PROBLEM EXISTS FURTHER THAN 2006. AN UNRELATED PROBLEM I ENCOUNTERED WITH THE VEHICLE, WHICH WAS QUITE UNNERVING, WAS THAT THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY CAME OFF WHILE DRIVING ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY AT @ 65 MPH APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS AGO. THE FIXTURE BECAME UN ATTACHED FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE AND WAS "FLAPPING" OFF THE DRIVER'S SIDE. ONLY FOR A MATTER OF TIME, I'M SURE. LUCKILY OUR FAMILY WAS BEING FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER FAMILY AND THEY NOTIFIED US BY CELL PHONE AND WE WERE ABLE TO REMOVE THE FIXTURE WITHOUT INCIDENT ON THE SHOULDER. IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITHOUT DOUBT HAD IT COME COMPLETELY OFF. WHEN WE NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP, THEY TOLD US WE WERE OUT OF OUR WARRANTY AND WERE ON OUR OWN. I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. MY FUEL GAUGE NO LONGER WORKS. THE ONLY WAY I CAN TRACK HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE IS BY KEEPING UP WITH MY MILEAGE. WHEN I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALER I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN TRAILBLAZERS AND THAT IT WOULD COST $500-$600 TO REPAIR. WHEN I DID A QUICK SEARCH ONLINE I FOUND HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF OTHER TRAILBLAZER OWNERS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT! I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND WANT TO KNOW WHY THIS WASN'T A RECALL! I GOT NO ASSISTANCE FROM THE GENERAL MOTORS AND WAS ONLY TOLD TO "GO THROUGH MY DEALER."DEALER DIDN'T CARE. ONE MINUTE IT SAYS I HAVE GAS THEN THE NEXT, EMPTY. *TR
MY FUEL GAUGE COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. THE HIGHEST IT WOULD GO WAS 1/4 TANK OF GAS AFTER PUTTING IN $70 WORTH OF GAS. AND THAT FLUCTUATED EVERYDAY. ONE MOMENT IT WOULD HAVE 1/4 THEN NOTHING. I HAVE A 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER WITH 75,000 MILES ON IT. WITH NO WARNING, MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. THE CAR IS WELL CARED FOR AND REGULARLY SERVICED. FUEL GAUGE IN MY 05 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER JUST QUIT WORKING CAUSING ME TO RUN OUT OF FUEL ON THE FREEWAY. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING ON I-85 IN VIRGINIA WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED RACING. WE LIMPED INTO A SERVICE STATION AT THE NEXT EXIT TO HAVE THE TRAILBLAZER LOOKED AT. WE ONLY HAD 1ST AND 2ND GEAR REMAINING ON OUR TRANSMISSION AND HAD TO HAVE THE SUV TOWED TO THE NEXT MAJOR CITY AND SPEND THE NIGHT UNTIL THE DEALERSHIP OPENED ON MONDAY. THE END RESULT IS THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AT LESS THAN 64,000 MILES. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE TRANSMISSION HOUSING ESSENTIALLY DISINTEGRATED AND THERE WERE A LOT OF METAL FRAGMENTS INSIDE THE HOUSING WHICH WERE A MAJOR FACTOR IN THE TRANSMISSION FAILING. THIS LEVEL OF CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF A MAJOR DRIVE TRAIN COMPONENT SHOULD NOT OCCUR AT SO LOW A MILEAGE. WE, AS THE CONSUMER, WERE FORCED TO PAY $3200.00 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. PLUS THE COSTS OF HOTEL RENTAL AND A RENTAL VEHICLE TO RETURN HOME AND MISSING WORK TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. *TR
WENT TO DEALER FOR VEHICLE INSPECTION AND OIL CHANGE ON MY 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WAS TOLD THAT THE SENSORS ARE INDICATING THAT THERE IS MOISTURE GETTING INTO MY TRANSMISSION DUE TO A ISSUE WITH THE DIP STICK NOT SEALING PROPERLY. WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $192.00 (PARTS AND LABOR) TO REPAIR. THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, I WAS TOLD THAT IF MY TRANSMISSION DID GO OUT DUE TO THIS PROBLEM, AND MY VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER THE WARRANTY, THAT THE WARRANTY WOULD COVER A NEW TRANSMISSION. DOESN'T MAKE SENSE THAT IF THERE IS A DEFECT IN SUCH A MINOR PART AS THE DIP STICK SEAL, WHY THE WARRANTY WOULDN'T COVER THE REPAIR. *TR
