TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING, THE FUEL GAUGE PROVIDED AN ERRONEOUS EMPTY READING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,500.
FUEL SENSOR FAILURE. I HAVE OWNED MY VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 3 YEARS NOW I'M BEING TOLD MY FUEL SENSOR IS BAD. MY ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON AND HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS GOING TO COST OVER 700.00 DOLLARS TO REPAIR. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PULL UP 15 PAGES OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAMETHING. WHEN IS SOMEONE GOING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH THE 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS. *TR
1) FILLED GAS TANK FULL ON 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER LT 2) BEGAN DRIVING AND GAS GAUGE DROPPED TO EMPTY AND WARNING LIGHT CAME ON- AFTER APPROX. 10-20 MILES GAS GAUGE GOES BACK UP TO FULL - THOUGH UNSURE IF IT IS ACCURATE - THIS HAPPENS AT EVERY FILL UP 3) SPOKE WITH GM DEALERSHIP - $450.00 TO DROP GAS TANK AND REPLACE FUEL GAUGE SENDER/SENSOR - HAVE NOT REPLACED YET DUE TO COST - AND AFTER DOING RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH TRAILBLAZERS - REQUESTING RECALL. *TR
THE GAS GAUGE BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION, INDICATING THAT THE TANK WAS EMPTY WHEN IT WAS NOT OR INACCURATELY MEASURING THE AMOUNT OF FUEL. THIS ALSO TRIGGERS THE ENGINE LIGHT TO GO ON AND NOW HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED ON. THE VEHICLE HAS 60,000 MILES AND THE PART WAS REPLACED FOR $530. *TR
GAS GAUGE IN 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER WENT OUT AND IS STUCK ON "E". NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU WILL RUN OUT OF GAS, WHICH IS A HAZARD ON THE ROADWAYS. CAR ONLY HAS 39,300 MILES ON IT. *TR
THE DRIVER'S DOOR CONTROLS STOPPED WORKING AND THERE WAS AN IMMEDIATE ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL AND SMOKE. THE WINDOWS STOPPED WORKING ENTIRELY. IT WAS VERY APPARENT THAT SOMETHING IN THE DOOR HAD MELTED OR BURNED (NO VISIBLE APPEARANCE OF FIRE ON THE OUTSIDE, NO FLAMES). I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A GM DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS, WHICH I OPTED FOR BASED ON THE SEVERITY OF THE ISSUES AND WOULD OTHER CAUSES MAY BE AT WORK (WOULD THIS HAPPEN AGAIN? WHAT ELSE WAS AFFECTED?), AND THEY REPLACED THE DOOR CONTROL (NOT INEXPENSIVE). I BELIEVE THIS MATCHES GM#12180 AND NHTSA # 12V406000. THE ACTUAL EVENT OCCURRED A FEW YEARS AGO- THE DATE IS VERY APPROXIMATE AND MAY NOT BE ACCURATE. THE AREA IS NJ. THERE WERE NO OUT-OF-THE-USUAL CIRCUMSTANCES WITH THE USE OF THE VEHICLE. IN COMING ACROSS THIS WHILE RESEARCHING IT, I THOUGHT I WOULD INCLUDE MY EVENT FOR YOUR PURPOSES. THE RECALL PROCESS HAS BEEN SLOW; PERSONALLY NOT VERY SATISFIED, I'VE SPOKEN WITH GM AND THEY ARE STILL WORKING ON SENDING THE LETTERS TO REIMBURSE THOSE OF US WHO ACTUALLY ENCOUNTERED THIS. *TR
ABOUT LAST JANUARY MY GAS GAUGE STARTED ACTING UP. I WOULD FILL MY TANK WITH GAS AND THE GAS GAUGE WOULD READ EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE GAUGE WOULD BOUNCE AROUND AND CAUSE MY LOW FUEL LIGHT TO GO ON AND TURN OFF. THE AUDIBLE ADVISOR WOULD DING AT ME 5 TIMES EVERYTIME IT HIT EMPTY. NOW, TODAY, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON CONSTANTLY AND THE GAS GAUGE IS STUCK AT EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT IS ON CONSTANTLY. THIS STARTED TO OCCUR AT AROUND 68,000MILES AND NOW I AM AT ABOUT 72,000. I HAVE CHECKED WITH A COUPLE REPAIR SHOPS AND THEY STATE THAT THE FUEL SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE AND IT WILL COST ME APPROXIMATELY $800 TO REPAIR. TO DATE I HAVE NOT HAD THE PROBLEM REPAIRED. I USE MY TRIP ODOMETER AND FILL UP AROUND EVERY 250 MILES. *TR
FUEL GAUGE IN 2006 TRAILBLAZER LS FAILS TO WORK PROPERLY. IT FLUCTUATES FROM EMPTY TO PROPER FULL LEVEL AND SOMETIMES FAILS TO WORK AT ALL. THIS IS A COMMON DEFECT WITH GM TRAILBLAZERS FROM 2005 ON. OTHER GM MODELS AS WELL IE, TAHOE AND UPLANDER. I HAVE 43,500 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. *TR
ISSUE: THE GAS GAUGE ON MY 2006 TRAILBLAZER IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE FUEL LIGHTS COMES ON AND STAYS ON EVEN AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK. THE ISSUE STARTED AROUND MID JANUARY 2010 AND HAS GOTTEN WORST. MY ONLY COMFORT IS KNOWING THAT I DO HAVE GAS IN MY TANK BUT IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING AND UNNERVING. I HAVE NO IDEA IF IT IS GOING TO GET WORSE. I HAVE HAD A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK TO CONFIRM THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO GET IT REPAIRED BUT NOT SURE OF THE COST OR HOW LONG I MAY BE WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION. *TR
THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR ON 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS ACTS ERRATICALLY THEN STOPS WORKING. I RAN OUT OF FUEL TWICE, ONCE ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AT RUSH HOUR, AND AGAIN AFTER HAVING WORK DONE AT THE DEALER. THEY HAD TO DRAIN SOME FUEL TO DO THE WORK AND DIDN'T TELL ME. HAVING CALCULATED HOW MUCH I HAD, I THOUGHT I WAS OK BUT I RAN OUT OF FUEL ON THE WAY HOME AT 9PM AT NIGHT ON A DARK SINGLE LANE ROAD WITH THE BABY IN THE BACK SEAT. *TR

THE DRIVER OBSERVED THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED AN INACCURATE READING INTERMITTENTLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT ANY GIVEN FUEL LEVEL CAPACITY. THE VEHICLE IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,302. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE READING FLUCTUATED AND SUDDENLY FAILED TO OPERATE. THE STABILITRAC SYSTEM ON MY 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER IS GIVING WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD BECAUSE OF A FAILURE IN A READ WHEEL SPEED SENSOR AND A STEERING WHEEL POSITION SENSOR. THESE FAILURES OCCURRED JUST ONE YEAR AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED, AND I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS INTERNET POSTS FROM OTHER TRAILBLAZER OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IF THE STABILITRAC SYSTEM FAILS, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT SAFELY NAVIGATE SLICK ROAD CONDITIONS. *TR

I HAVE A 2006 TRAILBLAZER AND ONE DAY I FILLED UP MY TANK AND MY GAS GAUGE STOPPED WORKING. AFTER A WHILE OF DRIVING IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN BUT EVENTUALLY IT STOP COMPLETELY. I HAVE HAD THE HIGH INPUT FUEL SENSOR REPLACE ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO AND NOW THE "NEW" ONE HAS STOPPED WORKING. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH SMOKE STARTED TO EMIT FROM THE DRIVER SIDE CONTROL PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V406000 (VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
DRIVING TO WORK SOON AS PULL OFF THE TRANS DOES NOT WANT TO SHIFT INTO SECOND GEAR TILL YOU REACH AT LEAST 2500 RPM'S OR HIGHER AND THEN JERKS YOU IN YOUR SEAT. ONLY DOES THIS FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR SHIFT, ALL OTHER SHIFT WORK PROPER. COULD NOT MAKE IT TO WORK THAT DAY (RESULTING IN ME BEING FIRED) INSTEAD HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE TRANSMISSION SHOP IN WHICH I PAID 160 DOLLARS TO CHANGE SOLENOIDS, FILTER AND FLUID. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. HAD 55,000 MILES WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE TRANS GUY SAYS IT NEEDS A REBUILD WHICH IS IN UPWARDS OF $2000. VEHICLE IS 2006 TRAILBLAZER SS AWD MODEL. A $45,000 VEHICLE WITH A BAD TRANS AT 55,000 MILES IS RIDICULOUS. I HAVE NOW 56,000 MILES. *TR

2006 TRAILBLAZER'S FUEL SENSOR DIED. THEREFORE IT IS NO LONGER POSSIBLE TO TELL HOW MUCH GAS IS IN YOUR TANK UNLESS YOU USE YOUR TRIP METER. I HAVE READ THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM YET THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT YET ISSUED A RECALL. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS REPAIR WILL COST A MINIMUM OF $800 AND I WOULD RATHER NOT HAVE TO PAY IT IF IT IS THE FAULT OF THE MANUFACTURER. *TR
WHEN I AM STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, MY TRAILBLAZER REVS UP AND TRIES TO ACCELERATE. I HAVE TO PUSH HARDER ON THE BRAKE TO KEEP IT FROM MOVING. *TR

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE SENSOR IGNITION WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED NUMEROUS TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUOUSLY RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. I WAS RUNNING LOW ON GAS SO I PULLED OVER TO A GAS STATION. FILLED UP, STARTED TO PULL AWAY, SAW THAT MY FUEL GAUGE WAS STILL READING EMPTY. GAUGE SLOWLY STARTED TO READ FULL AS I WAS DRIVING. PROBLEM PERSISTED NEXT TIME I FILLED UP. THE PROBLEM EVENTUALLY GOT WORSE AND THE FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING TILL I HAD TO HAVE THE DEALER FIX IT. *TR

WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 10 MPH HE ATTEMPTED TO PASS THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HIM REACHING 40 TO 50 MPH AND NOTICED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAD BECOME STUCK TO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AT SLOWING THE VEHICLE BY USING BOTH THE BRAKES AND THE HAND BRAKE, THE CONSUMER ACTIVATED THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS, SWITCHED THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL AND CONTINUED TO USE BOTH THE BRAKES AND HAND BRAKE, BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE AND TURNING OFF THE ENGINE, THE CONSUMER HAD TO PHYSICALLY PULL THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL OFF THE FLOOR WITH HIS HAND. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 48730. UPDATED 3/8/10 *CN UPDATED 05/13/10.*JB
LAST YEAR I PURCHASED A 2006 TRAILBLAZER EXT AND LAST WEEK I FILLED UP THE TANK ONLY TO HAVE THE FUEL GAUGE PEG ON E FOR EMPTY. AFTER ABOUT THREE HOURS OF DRIVING DID IT FINALLY GO TO FULL. I'M FILING THIS BECAUSE AFTER PULLING OUT CODE PO463 WITH MY TESTER AND RESEARCHING THIS FUEL SENSOR FAILURE ON THE WEB I FOUND OUT THAT ABOUT 400 OTHER TRAILBLAZER OWNERS HAVE THE SAME DEFECT. FROM THE LOOKS OF IT THE COST IS AROUND $800-$1000.00 TO REPAIR. WHY ISN'T THIS A SAFETY DEFECT ALREADY. MY WIFE AND CHILD DEPEND ON THIS VEHICLE AND I CAN,T HAVE IT RUN OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY. (USAF RETIRED). *TR
PLEASE OPEN AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE PERFORMANCE OF THE FUEL TANK SENSOR IN 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. IT IS DEFECTIVE AND THE FUEL LEVEL JUMPS AROUND CONTINUOUSLY. THE SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE AND COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE RUNNING OUT GAS AND CAUSING AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD RESULT IN MAJOR INJURIES. *JB

I HAVE AN 06 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER AND AFTER SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I HAVE FOUND THAT THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING WITH THE SENDING UNITS ON MY FUEL PUMP IS A RATHER COMMON PROBLEM. GM IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT SEEMS TO NOT CARE AND ONLY WANTS TO COLLECT THE MONEY FOR THESE REPLACEMENT FUEL PUMPS. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE GM RECALL THIS AND FIX THE PROBLEM FOR THIS, IT IS NOT JUST THE TRAILBLAZER BUT THE ENVOYS AND RAINERS. SEEMS TO BE A BIGGER ISSUE WITH THE TRAILBLAZERS. MAKES ONE WONDER HOW MANY OF THESE TRUCKS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND NOT POSTED IT ON LINE AND PAID THE 800 PLUS TO FIX IT. *TR
NO CONTROL OF WINDSHIELD WIPER. WIPERS START AND STOP ON THEIR OWN. ON/OFF SWITCH HAS NO CONTROL ONCE THE WIPERS START. THIS SITUATION WILL WEAR OUT BLADES, LEAVING THE DRIVER WITHOUT WIPER WHEN NEEDED. *TR

THE FUEL GAUGE CONTINUES TO FLUCTUATE AND STAY ON EMPTY, CAUSING ME TO RUN OUT OF GAS ON THE INTERSTATE. A POLICEMAN PULLED UP BEHIND ME AND TOLD ME TO REPORT THE PROBLEM. 4WD QUIT WORKING AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP TODAY I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE TRANSFER CASE FOR OVER $2,000. ALREADY REPORTED THE FUEL SENSOR QUIT WORKING. TOLD BY A PHONE REP FOR NHTSA IT COULD TAKE AT LEAST A YEAR TO INVESTIGATE AND WAS GIVEN A PHONE NUMBER FOR THE FTC. MY CAR HAS UNDER 44,000 AND WHEN THE TRANSFER CASE WENT IT THERE WAS A SMELL OF SMOKE. *TR

I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER LS AND I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL GAUGE SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT IT (USED). NOT KNOWING WHAT KIND OF MILEAGE I CAN GET I MUST GUESS WHEN TO GET FUEL. I HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS A FEW TIMES SINCE THIS HAS STARTED AND I WORRY ABOUT RUNNING OUT WHILE ON A HIGHWAY AND LOSING CONTROL DUE TO NOT HAVING POWER. FROM THE SEARCHES I HAVE DONE THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE TRAILBLAZER. *TR
(1) STABILITY CONTROL WAS ENGAGED WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND IT WAS NOT NECESSARY TO STABILIZE THE VEHICLE (SUV). STEERING WHEEL POSITION SENSOR REPLACED. (2) FUEL TANK ALWAYS READ EMPTY. FUEL TANK REMOVED AND REPLACED FUEL SENSORS. *TR
THE GAS GAUGE DOES NOT WORK. THE LOW LIGHT FUEL IS ALWAYS ON AND THE FUEL LEVEL ALWAYS SHOWS EMPTY EVEN WHEN THERE IS A FULL TANK OF GAS. *TR
THE FUEL LIGHT STAYS ON EMPTY EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS FULL. YOU CAN NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE CAR. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. IT GOES OFF WHEN THE CAR IS FULL FOR ABOUT ONE DAY, THEN COMES BACK ON AGAIN UNTIL YOU FILL THE CAR UP AGAIN. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE SENSOR AND IT COSTS APPROXIMATELY $800 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. THIS IS A PROBLEM IN CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS AS EVERYONE THAT I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THAT HAS A TRAILBLAZER HAS THIS PROBLEM. I EVEN KNOW A COUPLE THAT HAS A 1999 TRAILBLAZER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE FUEL GAUGE INACCURATELY DISPLAYS THE AMOUNT OF FUEL PRESENT IN THE FUEL TANK. USUALLY THE GAUGE WHEN INDICATE FUEL, WHEN THERE WAS NOT FUEL PRESENT. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED, BECAUSE THE DEALER WHILE CHARGE A DIAGNOSTIC FEE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,200. THE FAILURE MILEAGE 42,800.
GAS GAUGE ON MY 2006 TRAILBLAZER INDICATES THAT THE TANK IS EMPTY, DOES NOT PROVIDE AN ACCURATE READING EVEN WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. FUEL SENSOR QUIT WORKING AROUND 40,000 MILES AND NOW THE 4WD IS NO LONGER WORKING AT 43,000. I CAN'T AFFORD $3,000 IN REPAIRS AND AFTER LOOKING AT THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS NHTSA NEEDS TO DEMAND RECALLS AS THESE MALFUNCTIONS ARE SERIOUS AND CAN RESULT IN BODILY INJURY OR DEATH. *TR
FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING. SHOWS EMPTY ALWAYS, LOW FUEL LIGHT STAYS ON, AND LOW FUEL BELL RINGS AT RANDOM. CHEVY IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE, AS I JUST RECEIVED A LETTER WHERE THEY OFFERED TO PAY FOR HALF THE REPAIR. I FEEL THEY SHOULD PAY FOR ALL OF IT, SINCE IT IS THEIR FAULTY DESIGN CAUSING THE ISSUE. AND THEY ARE LIMITING REPAIRS TO UP TO 120K MILES. ALTHOUGH MY VEHICLE QUALIFIES, I FEEL THEY SHOULD FIX IT REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE AT 100 PERCENT! *TR
