TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO COAST VEHICLE ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE. THE FOLLOWING WARNING LIGHT INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED, SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT, ENGINE POWER REDUCED, AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTOL SENSOR AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AT LEAST THREE TIMES. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND THEN IT STALLED AGAIN. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59154.
TRAVELING AT 45 MPH OR GREATER, WARNING MESSAGE COMES ACROSS DASH "TRACTION CONTROL OFF"' WITH IN 2 MINUTES WARNING MESSAGE CHANGES TO "SERVICE STABILITRAK SYSTEM" WITHIN 2 MINUTES WARNING MESSAGE CHANGES TO "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". WITHIN 2 MINUTES OF THIS MESSAGE THE ENGINE LOSES MOST OF ITS POWER IMMEDIATELY AND CAR LURCHES TO LESS THAN 5 MPH. *TR
WHEN DRIVING NORMALLY DOWN THE ROAD WARNING TEXT FLASHES AND DISPLAYED STABILITRACK DISABLED, TRACTION CONTROL OFF, AND REDUCING ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DECELERATED AND ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH DUE TO THE SUDDEN DECELERATION. *TR
MULTIPLE TIMES WITHOUT WARNING, TRACTION CONTROL OFF LIGHT TURNS ON FOLLOWED BY SERVICE STABILIZATION SYSTEM AND ENGINE POWER REDUCED TO 10 %. THIS HAPPENED WHILE GOING 60 MPH ON A HIGHWAY WITH A TRACTOR TRAILER BEHIND ME, I SUDDENLY WENT DOWN TO 20MPH AND HAD TO SWERVE OFF THE ROAD. I WAS NEARLY HIT BY THE TRUCK AS IT PASSED ME. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT MULTIPLE TRAVERSE OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT. WHEN WILL THIS BE A RECALL? ONLY AFTER SOMEONE IS KILLED OR SERIOUSLY HURT! DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AT A COST OF NEARLY $500, A 3 YEAR OLD CAR SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE ISSUES, GM SHOULD BE PAYING FOR THE FIX! *TR
DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT HAS STARTED TO FREY. THE CAR RADIO DOESN'T SHUT OFF WHEN IT'S SUPPOSED TO. IT STAYS ON EVEN ONCE DOOR IS OPENED. YOU MUST SIT IN THE CAR AND WAIT FOR IT TO TURN OFF. THINKING THERE MAY BE SOME TYPE OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW HOW TO FIX IT....NOT EVEN THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
WHILE STOPPED AT A RAILROAD CROSSING, I WAS REAR ENDED BY A VEHICLE TRAVELING 55 MPH WHICH TOTALED MY CAR BUT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THIS VEHICLE AT RANDOM TIMES TELLS YOU THAT YOU NEED TO SERVICE YOU STAILITRAK AND TRACTION CONTROL AND REDUCES POWER WHICH IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE OF THE FACT IT LOSES POWER AND WHEN YOU WANT TO PASS YOUR NOT ABLE TO. EVEN IF YOUR CLIMBING A SMALL LITTLE HILL IT WILL BARELY CLIMB WHICH PUTS OTHERS AT RISK OF CRASHING ESPECIALLY IN ICY OR DANGEROUS CONDITIONS, OR MAYBE EVEN WORSE. THIS IS A GOOD FAMILY HAULER, BUT NOT WHEN IT REDUCES POWER AND PUTS OTHERS AT RISK. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V266000 (SEAT BELTS) AND 14V118000 (AIR BAGS), BUT THE CONTACT WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE TWO RECALL REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WAS AN ALERT ON THE DASHBOARD SAYING THAT "TRACTION CONTROL OFF" THEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER ANOTHER ALERT CAME ON STATING THAT "ENGINE POWER HAS BEEN REDUCED". I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE FULLY. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND IT RESET IT BUT THE SAME ALERTS CAME BACK ON MINUTES LATER. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR THESE VEHICLES AND AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE I HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF OTHERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND CHEVY/GM SHOULD SERIOUSLY CONSIDER RECALLING THIS PART. *TR
I GOT INTO MY CAR ONE DAY. I PULLED THE SEATBELT TO BUCKLE IT AND THE PIECE THAT HOOKS NEXT TO THE SEAT AND DOOR WAS BROKEN OFF. I TOOK IT INTO SUNDANCE AND THE MECHANIC TOLD ME ITD BE $250 TO FIX IT BUT HE'S NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT IN 40 YEARS AND THERES NO WAY WE COULDVE BROKEN IT. I STILL HAVENT HAD MONEY TO FIX IT AND ITS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY FOR SOME REASON. *JS
HEARD A NOISE IN NOVEMBER 2013 BUT JUST ONCE AND DIDN'T HEAR IT AGAIN TILL JANUARY 2014 ONLY WHEN TURNING WHEEL. I THOUGHT I WAS IMAGINING IT CAUSE NOBODY ELSE NOTICED IT WHEN I WAS TRYING TO HAVE IT CHECKED. FLUIDS WHERE FINE, NO WARNING INDICATORS. FINALLY IN MARCH 2014 HEARD IT AGAIN AND STARTING RESEARCHING WHAT IT COULD BE. FOUND A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT THE STEERING PROBLEM. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET ABOUT THIS SINCE MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY SAID IT HAD TO BE DIAGNOSED BY A CHEVY DEALERSHIP, SO I SCHEDULED TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED. DEALERSHIP SAID IT IS THE POWER STEERING AND THAT IT HAS TO BE REPLACED. I ASKED WHAT CAUSED IT AND THEY SAID IT IS A DESIGN FLAW AND THAT THEY HAVE SEEN IT IN THE ACADIA, TERRAIN AND TRAVERSE VEHICLES. I CALLED CHEVROLET BACK AND REPORTED THE DEALERSHIP FINDINGS AND THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO CONTACT ME WITH A SOLUTION ON HOW THEY CAN HELP ME WITH THE REPAIR SINCE THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND NOT SOMETHING I CAUSED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER AND THE SERVICE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT AN UNKNOWN PART OF THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,020.
WHEN DRIVING MY 2011 TRAVERSE, IT WOULD REDUCE ENGINE POWER AND ADVISE SERVICE. IT WOULD DROP POWER TO THE POINT CAR WAS NOT DRIVE ABLE. I WOULD SHUT CAR OFF. WAIT AND THEN ABLE TO DRIVE IT AT LOW SPEEDS (15 MPH). THIS OF COURSE CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
MY VEHICLE HAS HAD A WHINING NOISE WHEN STEERING. IT ALSO FEELS "LOOSE" AS IF I'M NOT IN COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE STEERING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND THE STEERING COULD LIKELY GET WORSE IF NOT SERVICED. HE ALSO STATED THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND IS VERY COMMON. I HAVE HEARD REPORTS OF OWNERS OF THE SAME VEHICLES HAVING LOST CONTROL OF STEERING. I HAVE A THREE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND SAFETY WAS A MAJOR FACTOR IN PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE KNOWING THAT THIS PROBLEM EXISTS. I HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT MY OWN EXPENSE. GENERAL MOTORS DOES HAVE A BULLETIN ON THIS PROBLEM SO THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, I BELIEVE THAT THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD INVESTIGATE AS THEIR MIGHT BE CONSUMERS OUT THERE THAT ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THEY MAY THINK THAT IT IS JUST A SIMPLE SQUEAK AND NOT AS SEVERE AS I WAS MADE AWARE. THANK YOU *JS
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM A DEPARTMENT STORE WITH MY THREE CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE WHEN A LIGHT CAME ON IN THE DASHBOARD AND SAID ENGINE HOT. SHE PULLED OVER AND CALLED ME. I TOLD HER TO CHECK THE COOLANT TANK. SHE SENT ME A PICTURE FROM HER PHONE. IT WAS FULL BUT THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING. SHE HAD TO STOP 3 TIMES ON THE WAY HOME AND WE LIVE NO MORE THAN 12 MINUTES FROM THE DEPARTMENT STORE. WHEN SHE GOT HOME SHE LOOKED UNDER THE VEHICLE AND SAID THERE WAS A SMALL PUDDLE. SHE HAS AN APPOINTMENT IN A FEW DAYS AT THE DEALERSHIP TO GET IT CHECKED OUT. I AM JUST NOT SURE WE CAN EVEN DRIVE THE TRAVERSE TO THE DEALERSHIP SAFELY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM SAN DIEGO TO AZ WITH MY 3 KIDS WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN ALL MY WARNING DASH LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING, THE RADIO LOST POWER AND I LOST POWER STEERING. THIS WENT ON FOR ABOUT 1 MIN AND THEN EVERYTHING WENT AWAY AND THE RADIO TURNED BACK ON AND THE CAR SEEMED TO BE FINE. FIVE MINS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED SO I EXITED THE FREEWAY IN ALPINE CA, AND DROVE TO THE ONLY MECHANIC IN THE ENTIRE TOWN. AFTER AN HOUR THE MECHANIC CAME AND TOLD ME MY KEY WAS BAD AND THAT THE COMPUTER WASN'T RESPONDING AT ALL TO IT. LUCKILY FOR ME I HAD THE SPARE AND HE TRIED THAT KEY AND IT TOO WOULDN'T START THE CAR. AT THIS POINT THE MECHANIC SAID I'D HAVE TO LEAVE THE CAR WITH HIM FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSING. I THEN RENTED A CAR AND HEADED TO AZ FOR THE WEEKEND. THE DAY AFTER THEY HAD MY CAR THEY CALLED ME AND SAID THE CAR STARTED UP WITH NO PROBLEM AND NOW THEY WERE GOING TO TRY TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM. AFTER 2 DAYS AND $438.00 THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR. I CAME AND PICKED UP MY CAR AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE FOR A FEW WEEKS THEN I WENT TO START IT ONE DAY AND NO POWER, THE VEHICLE WASN'T RECOGNIZING MY KEYS AT ALL. I POPPED THE TRUNK AND LOOKED AROUND THE TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND IT STARTED FINE. NOW A MONTH LATER I DRIVE TO GO PICK UP MY DAUGHTER AT A FRIENDS HOUSE AT NIGHT AND TURN THE CAR OFF FOR 10 MINS AND IT WON'T START AGAIN. THE CAR HAS POWER BECAUSE ALL THE DASH WARN LIGHTS ARE GOING OFF AGAIN BUT IT WON'T START. I ENDED UP LEAVING MY CAR AND WALKING HOME WITH MY 3 KIDS AGAIN AT NIGHT. I'M SURE TOMORROW IT WILL START JUST FINE BUT I NEED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT CAN'T AFFORD FOR THEM TO NOT FIX IT AGAIN AND JUST HAND ME A BILL FOR THE TIME SPENT ON IT! ANY IDEAS????? LOUD WHINING SOUND COMING FROM FRONT END. WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL SLOWLY YOU CAN HEAR A LOUD SCRATCHING NOISE. BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW AND ONLY HAVE 17K MILES IN 3 YEARS. ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN HAD TO BE REPLACED. POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKING. *TR

THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO PERFORM NORMALLY BUT THE FAILURE SOON RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER FOR REPAIR WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH HAVING LEAKS IN THE POWER STEERING PUMP AS WELL AS THE RACK AND PINION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE INCIDENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,632.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED ON, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ENGINE PISTONS STARTED KNOCKING, MOTOR FAILED/SEIZED. DELLENBACH CHEVROLET CLAIMS IT WAS FROM OIL FILTER BEING 1/2 TURN LOOSE. THERE WAS NO OIL ON MY DRIVEWAY, WORK, OR UNDER VEHICLE WHEN ENGINE FAILED. *TR
TOOK CAR IN FOR ODD NOISE IN STEERING. WAS TOLD PUMP WAS BAD AND SEAL WAS BAD. APPEARS THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE AND NO RECALL HAS BEEN MADE. ITS NOT JUST ONE OR TWO CARS, AFTER RESEARCH IS HUNDREDS OF CARS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE FUEL GAUGE DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY AND DISPLAYED AN INCORRECT READING, WHICH INDICATED THAT THE FUEL LEVEL WAS HALF. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR WINDOW WIPER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
TWO THINGS #1-TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE 95. RIGHT REAR TIRE BLOW. THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE RIP ALL AROUND. I HAVE A PICTURE OF THE TIRE IN TWO PIECES.IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN SEEING THE PICTURE EMAIL ME AND I WILL SEND IT TO YOU. #2-ALSO EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN SEPTEMBER 2010 THE BRAKES SQUEAKS. ITS BEEN LOOKED AT MULTIPLE TIME BY TWO DEALERS. TO THIS DAY THE BRAKES STILL SQUEAK. VERY ANNOYING. THE WARRANTY IS OUT NOW BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. LOOK AT THE HISTORY OF THE BRAKE ISSUE. *TR

JUNE 2014. WAS DRIVING ON CITY EXPRESSWAY WHEN SUDDENLY "SERVICE STABILITRACK/TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM OFF" CAME ON. OUR SUV SUDDENLY STARTED LOSING POWER. TOOK TRUCK TO CHEVROLET DEALER SERVICE DEPT. SERVICE PERFORMED. TECH SAID HE FOUND NOTHING WRONG. DID NOTE THAT I HAD OTHER RECALLS PENDING ON VEHICLE. JULY 2014. WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 40 AT 11 P.M. AND WAS 80 MILES FROM HOME. I WAS DRIVING ALONE. SUDDENLY "SERVICE STABILITRACK/TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM OFF" CAME ON. SUV STARTED LOSING POWER. WAS UNABLE TO GET ABOVE 65. AT SOME POINTS RPM WAS HIGH THEN LOSS OF POWER. SUV FELT AS IF IT WAS TRYING TO CUT OFF. HAVE READ IN A FORUM ([XXX]) THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF TRAVERSES. IN OUR 8 PASSENGER TRAVERSE WE HAVE FREQUENT TROUBLE WITH THE MIDDLE ROW, MIDDLE SEAT BELT LOCKING UP WHEN IT IS NOT USED. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN SOMEONE GOES TO BUCKLE THEIR BELT IN THIS SEAT - IT WILL NOT DISENGAGE AND WE HAVE TO MANIPULATE THE SEAT OR THE AREA AROUND THE WHERE THE SEAT BELT RETRACTS INTO THE SEAT TO GET IT TO DISENGAGE. SOMETIMES IT BECOMES SO DIFFICULT OR TIME CONSUMING WE HAVE TO MOVE THAT PERSON TO THE 3RD ROW SEATING IN THE FAR BACK. IT IS ONLY THIS SEAT BELT THAT DOES THIS AND AFTER CONDUCTING AN INTERNET SEARCH, WE ARE NOT THE ONLY CONSUMERS HAVING THIS ISSUE. THIS IS AN INCONVENIENCE AT THIS POINT BUT AM CONCERNED IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE - IF THE SEAT BELT BEHAVES THIS WAY, HOW DO I KNOW IT WILL WORK PROPERLY IN AN ACCIDENT? WHEN WE BROUGHT OUR CAR TO THE DEALER TO LOOK AT THIS ISSUE THEY TOLD US THEY COULD REPLACE THE SEAT BELT. MY WIFE RETURNED FROM THE DEALERSHIP AFTER RECEIVING AN OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION. SHE PARKED THE CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY AT THE HOUSE AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES MY FAMILY GOT IN THE VEHICLE. I SMELLED A BURNING ODOR WHILE WALKING TO THE VEHICLE. MY WIFE CRANKED THE VEHICLE AND IMMEDIATELY THERE WAS WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I OPENED THE HOOD AND THERE WAS A FIRE BURNING IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WE GOT THE FAMILY OUT OF THE CAR AND I GRABBED A WATER HOSE AND PUT THE FLAMES OUT. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES I NOTICED THAT SMOKE WAS AGAIN COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I DISCONNECTED THE CABLE FROM THE POSITIVE TERMINAL IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE SMOKED STOPPED. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE BATTERY CABLE CAUGHT FIRE BECAUSE IT WAS NOT SUFFICIENT ENOUGH TO HANDLE THE ELECTRICAL LOAD OF THE VEHICLE AND THAT THE REPLACEMENT CABLE WAS MUCH THICKER AND MORE INSULATED. THESE CABLES NEED TO BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THERE IS A LOSS OF LIFE. *TR
WHEN YOU TRY TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE CAR IS IN DRIVE TO COME OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT TURN. PERIODICALLY WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING LEFT TURNS PRIMARILY, THE POWER STEERING IS GONE. YOU HAVE TO TURN THE WHEEL VERY HARD TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. THIS HAPPENS DAILY IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS, BOTH DAY AND NIGHT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THIS IS NORMAL. HOWEVER, EACH DAY, IT BECOMES HARDER AND HARDER TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I CAN NOT MAKE ANY SUDDEN TURNS, BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT TURN AND I AM SCARED THAT MY CAR WILL BE HIT, BECAUSE I AM NOT ALWAYS ABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. *TR
I WAS PARKING, BACKING INTO PARKING SPOT GOING MAYBE 2 TO 3 MILES AND HOUR, TRIED TO PUT CAR INTO PARK, WAS A LITTLE DIFFICULT. THEN TRIED TO TAKE KEY OUT OF IGNITION SWITCH AND KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT. THEN REALIZED WINDOWS WOULD NOT ROLL DOWN (ALL 4). I LOCKED THE KEYS IN THE CAR WITH THE LOCKING FOB. LATER IN THE DAY A PERSON CAME TO ME AND SAID MY LIGHTS AND RADIO WERE ON, DUE TO THE FACT I HAD DIFFERENT PEOPLE TRY TO GET THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION THOUGHT OUT THE NIGHT I KNOW THE RADIO WAS OFF WHILE WE TALKED ABOUT HOW TO GET THE KEYS OUT. THE NEXT MORNING I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER TO BE FIXED. I HAVE A WARRANTY AFTER MARKET ON THE CAR. THE DEALER SAID THE WARRANTY COMPANY WILL NOT COVER REPAIRS. I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT IF OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM. *TR
MY WIFE HAD JUST DROPPED THE KIDS OFF AT SCHOOL AND WAS ABOUT 10 MINUTES AWAY FROM HOME. AFTER ABOUT FIVE MINUTES OF DRIVING A SERIES OF CHIMES EMITTED FROM THE CAR AND THE DASH FLASHED A LIGHT INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH THE ABS SYSTEM, FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER SERIES OF DINGS AND A BURNING SMELL. SHE THEN PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF THE CAR, AND WAITED APPROXIMATELY A MINUTE. UPON TURNING ON THE CAR SHE HEARD ANOTHER DING AND THE SERVICE LIGHTS REMAINED ON. SHE WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY DRIVE HOME BUT THE CAR EMITTED A "GRINDING NOISE" AND THE HEAT GAUGE WAS SLIGHTLY HIGHER THAN NORMAL. UPON GETTING HOME SHE CHECKED UNDER THE CAR BUT DID NOT SEE ANY FLUIDS UNDER THE CAR. WE HAVE SCHEDULED A MECHANIC TO LOOK AT THE CAR TOMORROW. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,285.
ENGINE POWER WAS SUDDENLY REDUCED WHILE DRIVING WITH THE MESSAGES: TRACTION CONTROL OFF, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRACK, ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. DEALER FOUND CODE P2135 WAS GENERATED (FAULTY THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR). THROTTLE BODY UNIT WAS REPLACED. THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED 2 YEARS LATER ON 6/12/2015. AGAIN THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACE. BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE THE THROTTLE BODY UNIT DESIGN IS SYSTEMICALLY BAD AND HAS CAUSED TWO SAFETY RELATED INCIDENTS.

TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER ON WEDNESDAY 06 / 05 / 13 SQUEAKING NOISE / WINING / IT SOUNDS LIKE COMING FROM STEERING WHEEL WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT. CHEVY DEALER FURTHER INSPECTED AND FOUND NOISE TO BE COMING FROM STEERING GEAR HOUSING. RECOMMENDED PUTTING ON REVISED HOUSING TO CORRECT THIS CONDITION AND RECOMMENDED TO BE INSTALLED AND FLUSH SYSTEM TO CONVERT TO ATF. TOLD MUST PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE TO GET RID OF NOISE. GM SHOULD REPAIR KNOWING THEY HAVE THIS PROBLEMS WITH STEERING GEAR HOUSING WITH NO CHARGE. *TR

THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE HOSE GASKET, ADDED BRAKE FLUID, AND REPLACED THE BRAKE CALIPER ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. THE DEALER ALSO NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD WORN TIE-RODS AND REPLACED THEM BOTH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE REPAIR, THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SQUEAK WHEN BEING TURNED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE STEERING HOUSING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,823.

HIGH PITCHED SQUEAL/SQUEAKY NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN WHEN TURNING EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT AT ALL FORWARD SPEEDS, REVERSE AND STATIONARY. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW SAYS THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE "RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY" AND HAS BEEN A RECALL ITEM ON 2009 & 2010 TRAVERSES, BUT NOT ON THE 2011-2013. THEY EXAMINED THE VEHICLE (FOR A COST OF $39.95) AND SAID THEY COULD REPAIR IT FOR $435.54, BUT SAID IT WOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM TO DRIVE IT AS IS UNTIL IT GETS WORSE OF AFFECTS THE STEERING OPERATION. THEY HAVE DONE 2 SUCH REPAIRS ON 2011 MODELS. I BELIEVE THAT AS THIS IS HAPPENING AT 29 MONTHS (SINCE NEWLY PURCHASED BY MYSELF) AND AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE TO HAVE STEERING ISSUES, I WOULD THINK THIS MUST BE A PERSISTENT DESIGN/ENGINEERING DEFECT. I HOPE THE NHTSA AND SAFERAR.GOV WOULD INITIATE A RECALL. MY WIFE DRIVES 140 MILE TRIPS OFTEN TO VISIT OUR DAUGHTER'S FAMILY AND OUR GRANDCHILDREN OFTEN RIDE WITH HER IN THE TRAVERSE AND WE HAVE DRIVEN THE TRAVERSE TO MYRTLE BEACH, KITTY HAWK, NC, PENNSYLVANIA AND MISSISSIPPI AND I AM CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILY'S SAFETY. CHEVROLET USA SHOULD STEP UP TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AT THEIR COST. I HAVE NOTED ONE OTHER REPORT OF THIS STEERING PROBLEM ON THIS WEBSITE AND THOSE WHO MY DEALERSHIP SAID PAID FOR THE FIX ON THEIR TRAVERSES. WE WERE MOVING FROM SOUTH CAROLINA TO WISCONSIN WHICH IS A 1,000 MILE TRIP. ON THE MORNING OF FEBRUARY 9TH, 2013 WE WERE ABOUT TO ENTER CINCINNATI ON THE SECOND LEG OF OUR TRIP WHEN ALL THE SUDDEN THE DASH DISPLAYED A MESSAGE THAT SAID TRAK SYSTEM FAILED, SOON FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER MESSAGE INDICATING THE ENGINE POWER HAD BEEN REDUCED. THE VEHICLE WENT FROM 60 MPH TO APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SHUDDER WITH A FEELING OF LOSS OF FIRING CYLINDERS, AND LOSS OF VEHICLE STEERING CONTROL. SO WE PULLED OVER, READ THE BOOK, AND SHUT THE CAR OFF LIKE IT SAID, WAITED 15 SECONDS AND THEN TURNED THE CAR BACK ON. THE CAR WAS FINE AND WE FINISHED THAT LEG OF THE TRIP HOPING NOTHING ELSE WOULD HAPPEN. IT HAPPENED ON A VERY BUSY STRETCH OF I-75N NEAR COVINGTON, KY AND IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASH. MY ENTIRE FAMILY WAS IN THE CAR. SO I CALLED AND SPOKE TO A GM TECHNICIAN AT TIRE DISCOUNTERS IN CINCINNATI WHO STATED IT PROBABLY IS YOUR THROTTLE BODY AS HE HAD JUST REPAIRED THE SAME ISSUE ON ANOTHER GM CAR. BEING THAT IT WAS SATURDAY, THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO AND WE HAD TO STILL TRAVEL AN ADDITIONAL 300 MILES TO WISCONSIN. THE CAR ONLY HAD 45,000 MILES ON IT THE DAY OF INCIDENT. THE NEXT DAY FEBRUARY 10 2013 WE CONTINUED OUR TRIP AND RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF INDIANA THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AND AGAIN WE TOOK THE SAME ACTION. AGAIN IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BUT WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER. ON TUESDAY FEBRUARY 19, 2013 I TOOK THE CAR IN TO BE LOOKED AT BY ANDREW CHEVROLET IN GLENDALE, WI AND THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THE SAME. THE THROTTLE BODY HAD GONE BAD AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPAIRED FOR $519.00. THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT THEY TOO HAD CHANGED THEM ON MULTIPLE CARS. GM NEEDS TO RECALL THE 2011 TRAVERSE AND REPAIR THIS PART BEFORE SOMEONE GETS IN AN ACCIDENT AND GETS KILLED. I ALSO NOTICED THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN THREE MONTHS NHTSA HAS RECEIVED A COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS ISSUE. *TR UDPATED 03/14/13
I FIRST TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO JIM BALL PONTIAC A GM CERTIFIED DEALER IN ORCHARD PARK, NY BECAUSE OF A WHINING NOISE BY ENGINE. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A LEAK IN POWER STEERING BOX AND SERVICED IT. THE. EXT DAY AFTER I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE I WAS DRIVING UP TO AN INTERSECTION TO MAKE A LEFT AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN WHINING REALLY LOUD. MY STEERING LOCKED UP DURING MY LEFT HAND TURN CAUSE ME TO DRIVE HEAD ON WITH 2 OTHER VEHICLES THAT WERE TRAVELING ABOUT 50 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO AVOID ACCIDENT AND AFTER I PULLED OVER THE STEERING WAS NORMAL IN ABOUT 20 SECONDS. THE VEHICLE WAS RELOOKED AT JIM BALL AND THEY BLAMED IT ON A BUBBLE IN THE LINE. I OPENED A CASE WITH GM REGARDING THIS AND I'M NOT GETTING MUCH HELP. *TR
SAME AS EVERYONE ELSE... 2011 CHEVY TRAVERSE WITH INTERMITTENT AND SPORADIC EPISODES OF "TRACTION CONTROL OFF, SERVICE STABILITRAK, AND ENGINE POWER REDUCED" BETWEEN 60,000 AND 110,000 MILES. I COULD BE DEAD MANY TIMES OVER THE PAST 3.5 YEARS DURING WORK COMMUTE ON 70MPH, 4 LANE HIGHWAY. PROBLEM RESOLVES FOR UNKNOWN AND UNRELIABLE AMTS OF TIME... EVEN AFTER RECOMMENDED FIXES. GM MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE BEFORE MORE PEOPLE DIE! I HAVE MADE SURE TO KEEP ALL DOCUMENTAION AND NAMES, FILE #S AND COMPLAINTS, SO THAT IF/WHEN A DISASTER HAPPENS TO MY FAMILY OR OTHERS, THERE WILL BE NO QUESTION AS TO FAULT.
WAS AT TARGET ONE EVENING AND NOTICED A SWEET UNUSUAL SMELL COMING FROM THE TRAVERSE. I TOOK A LOOK UNDERNEATH THE CAR AND NOTICED PINK SUBSTANCE DRIPPING FROM THE ENGINE. UPON LEAVING TARGET I NOTICED THAT THE ARM ON THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS HIGHER THAN NORMAL. I DROVE 40MPH FOR A MILE AND THE GAUGE SHOT UP TO THE TOP. I WAS 25 MINUTES FROM HOME. I HAD TO STOP 6 TIMES TO LET THE ENGINE COOL DOWN IN ORDER TO MAKE IT HOME AND I HAD ALL FOUR OF MY KIDS IN THE CAR WITH ME AS WELL. IT TOTALLY FREAKED THEM OUT. I HAD TO RENT A CAR FOR THE WEEKEND AS I NEEDED TRANSPORTATION TO GET AROUND. I HAD A COMPANY THAT WILL COME TO YOUR HOME TO FIX YOUR CAR. FOUND OUT IT WAS MY FUEL PUMP. AFTER 4 HOURS OF LABOR AND $400.00 LATER IT WAS FIXED. FOUR MONTHS LATER, TODAY MAY 10, 2013 AS I'M DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, THE CAR BEGINS TO BEEP AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT COMES ON AND SERVICE STABILITRAK SYSTEM AND TRACTION CONTROL OFF DISPLAYS IN THE DISPLAY WINDOW. IT SEEMED AS IF IT WAS HARD TO ACCELERATE AS WELL. THIS IS THE 2ND THING THAT IS PROBABLY GOING TO BE FAIRLY EXPENSIVE TO FIX THAT HAS HAPPENED TO THIS CAR. IT IS THE WEEKEND AND NOW HAVE TO TRY AND FIND A PLACE TO TAKE MY CAR AND HAVE IT SERVICED. SEEING NOW THAT THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS WITH THIS SPECIFIC COMPONENT ON THE CAR, CHEVROLET NEEDS TO RECALL THIS CAR AND FIX THIS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I THINK IT'S RIDICULOUS TO HAVE TO CONTINUE TO PAY FOR THINGS THAT CONTINUE TO BREAK DOWN ON THIS VEHICLE. I AM A SINGLE PARENT AND CANNOT CONTINUE TO FINANCIALLY BE ABLE TO DO THIS. *TR
AT 12000 MILES THE DEALER SAID I NEEDED NEW REAR BRAKES. I ASKED IF UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS TOLD NO CHARGED $700 TO FIX. NOW AT 24000 SAID FRONT BRAKES BAD AND WILL COST $550 MUST BE SOMETHING DEFECTIVE. *TR
