I GOT MY CAR 6 MONTHS AGO, SO FAR THE BRAKES WENT OUT, ROTORS WENT OUT, ALL STRUTS HAD TO BE REOLACED, HEATER BROKE, AIR CONDITIONER LEAKES, AND NOW TIMING CHAINS NEED TO BE REPLAVED. I FOUND AN INSPECTION COMPLETED 2 WEEKS BEFORE I BOUGHT MY CAR DONE AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. THE LIST OF ISSUES IS SCARY.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE I ATTEMPTED TO PASS A VEHICLE AT 70 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET TO THE RIGHT LANE SO I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO PULL OFF TO THE LEFT WHERE I WAS BEING PASSED BY VEHICLES GOING 70 PLUS MPH NEXT TO A CEMENT BARRIER. THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T RESTART OR GIVE ANY INDICATION OF DOING SO. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER I WAS TOLD THAT THE TIMING CHAIN BUSTED AND SEIZED UP THE ENGINE. I CONTACTED CHEVY AND THEY STATED SINCE THE VEHICLE HAS 129400 MOLES ON IT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THEY STATED THEY HAD NO COMPLAINTS OF THIS BEING A PROBLEM BUT THAT CONTRADICTS WHAT MULTIPLE CHEVY DEALERS HAVE TOLD ME. THE ENGINE IN THE 2011 CHEVY TRAVERSE IS APPARENTLY KNOWN TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM SO THE ENGINES ARE HARD TO FIND. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH I FOUND MULTIPLE SITES WHERE CUSTOMERS HAVE ALSO STATED THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE SEATS 7 PASSENGERS. WHILE I WAS ALONE ON THIS PARTICULAR DATE IT IS NOT ALWAYS THE CASE. I COULD HAVE HAD MY FAMILY WITH AND MAY NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PULL TO SAFETY (AS SCARRY AS IT WAS BEING STRANDED ON A FOUR LANE INTERSTATE). CHEVY FAILS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS NOT ONLY A MECHANICAL ISSUE BUT ALSO A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. THIS IS NOT A TWO SEATER ECONOMY VEHICLE BUT A 7 SEATER FAMILY VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND IT WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO PHILLIPS CHEVROLET (1400 LOCKE DR, BOURBONNAIS, IL 60914) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE SEIZED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE SAME DEALER APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR AGO FOR ENGINE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
TRACTION CONTROL OF SIGNAL ON ALONG WITH THE TRAK SERVICE LIGHT ON. RATTLING COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT WHEEL AREA. VEHICLE SHUTS OFF ABRUPTLY, WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. VEHICLE HAS 109K MILES ON IT. THIS HAPPENS AT AROUND TH 65MPH SPEED. UPON RESEARCH, THIS IS AN ON GOING ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR MAKE & MODEL & NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY BY GM, BEFORE THERE IS A TRAGEDY BECAUSE OF IT!
I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH FREON REMAINING IN MY CAR. IT HAS BEEN FLUSHED AND TESTED SEVERAL TIMES FOR INCONSISTENCIES AND THERE SEEMS TO BE NONE.PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM
SO FAR I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH MY SUV, BOUGHT A 2009 FOR 6,000 AND HAD TO PT 7,200 IN IT TO GET IT RUNNING RIGHT. I TRADED IT IN AT THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS BEING DIAGNOSED AT THANKFULLY. NOW I HAVE A 2011 AND STARTING TO HAVE MANY ISSUES UNFORTUNATELY. FIRST IT STARTED 3700 MILES AFTER I GOT MY 2011 BY LEAVING ME WITH NO POWER STEERING WHILE TRYING TO MAKE A TURN AND ALMOST WRECKED 3 TIMES GOING TO THE HOSPITAL. I WAS ABLE TO PUT POWER STEERING FLUID IN AND GOT MY POWER STEERING BACK BUT IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID IF I CAME IN AT 3500 MILES THEY WOULD HAVE REPLACED THE PUMP AND WHOLE RACK UNDER WARRENTY, BUT THEY DIDNT. SO I GOTTA TOP IT OFF EVERY FEW MONTHS, NO BIG DEAL. SUSPENSION HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE, ROUGH IDLE, TUNED UP 3 TIMES IN 42,373 MILES. A/C ONLY BLOWS COLD ON DRIVER SIDE NOW, IT MAKES A DIFFERENT NOISE EVERY DAY AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS I NEED TO HAVE THE ENGINE DROPPED AND TIMING CHAIN REPLACED. I CANT DROP 2400 BUCKS ON SOMETHING THAT DOESNT FIX THE PROBLEM! WAY TOO MANY NEGATIVE OUTCOMES THAT I'VE READ ON THE TIMING CHAIN ISSUE. PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THE ENGINE REPLACED HAD BETTER LUCK THAN A REBUILD. THIS IS ABSURD BECAUSE IT'S A GREAT FAMILY VEHICLE BUT WITH THESE ISSUES I REALLY DONT WANT TO BUY AMERICAN MADE CARS ANYMORE.
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT TURNS OFF AND ON. SOMETIMES DOESN'T GO OFF AT ALL UNLESS I HIT A BUMP. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE AIRE BAG AND RECALL NUMBER IS 14030. I CALLED GMC ABOUT THIS RECALL AND THEY TOLD ME THEY DID NOT SEE ANY RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE BUT ADVISED ME TO TAKE THE RECALL NUMBER TO THE DEALERSHIP AND SEE IF IT CAN BE FIXED AT NO CHARGE TO ME. I DID NOT RECEIVE A LETTER IN THE MAIL ABOUT THIS RECALL. I CAN'T GETC A PASSING STATE INSPECTION UNLESS THIS PROBLEM IS FIXED.
IT WAS A RAINY DAY AND HEADING DOWN A LOCAL STREET AT ABOUT 40 MPH AND THE STEERING LOCKED UP WITHOUT WARNING FOR A PERIOD OF 5 SECONDS. I'M 190 LB MALE, AND I COULDN'T BUDGE THE WHEEL HEADING FOR A TREE. I WAS ABLE TO AVOID THE COLLISION BUT I CAN GUARANTEE THAT IF MY WIFE WAS DRIVING, SHOULD WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL. IT HAPPENED TO ME TWO MORE TIMES THAT DAY BUT FOR SMALLER INTERVALS OF TIME. LUCKILY MY KIDS WERE NOT IN THE CAR BUT I AM NOW FEAR THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING. I WON'T LET MY WIFE DRIVE IT, AND I HAVE TO KEEP BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL READY TO USE ALL MY STRENGTH. THIS CARE CAN NOT BE CASUALLY DRIVEN. THIS HAS SERIOUS LIFE SAFETY CONCERNS.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT A MONTH LATER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN. 3 CYLINDERS WERE CHECKED AND HAD LOW COMPRESSION AND WAS TOLD IT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE MOTOR TO STALL WHILE DRIVING AND TO NOT DRIVE IT ANY MORE DUE TO THE DANGEROUS CONDITION THIS COULD CAUSE. NEVER RECEIVED ANY INDICATION THERE WAS A CATASTROPHIC ISSUE WITH THE MOTOR, NEVER RECEIVED LOW OIL OR HIGH TEMP NOTHING?
PURCHASED NEW AND AT 63,500 MILES THE ENGINE MALFUNCTIONED. STARTED MISSING/HESITATING ON HIGHWAY HEADING 2 HOURS AWAY FOR A WEDDING. DEALER WANTS OVER $7K TO REPAIR CRACKED PISTON/VALVE IN CYLINDER 4. ACCORDING TO CHEVY/GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE (OPENED CASE #8-4134087852), DEALER TOLD THEM IT HAD LOW OIL, WHICH IS INCORRECT BECAUSE MY HUSBAND ALWAYS CHECKS THE OIL, EVEN AT THE GAS STATION WHILE FILLING UP AND IS METICULOUS WITH MAINTENANCE. WE HAVE THE RECEIPTS AND MAINTENANCE LOG TO PROVE IT. ALSO, LOW OIL WOULD CAUSE BEARING PROBLEMS, WHICH WE DON'T HAVE. GM OFFERING SOME SORT OF GOOFY ASSISTANCE THAT IS BACKWARDS AND WILL COST US EVEN MORE. THOROUGHLY DISGUSTED WITH MY TRAVERSE, WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO EVENTUALLY REPLACE MY 2000 GMC SAFARI VAN, WHICH IS VERY MUCH ALIVE WITH ORIGINAL TRANS AND ENGINE AT OVER 165K MILES. I SEE LOTS OF INTERNAL DAMAGE/ENGINE ISSUES - WHY NO RECALL? I WONDER WHO THEY PAID OFF TO AVOID THIS FINANCIAL NIGHTMARE...
APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS AGO AFTER HITTING A VERY SMALL POT HOLE I NOTICED A LOUD NOISE WHEN I WOULD TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT ONLY 3 DAYS AFTER THAT IT'S STILL TO RIGHT AND NEVER TO THE LEFT BUT DOES MAKE SOME NOISE STRAIGHT. CALLED OUR DEALER FOR AN APPOINTMENT BUT IT'S GOING TO BE A WHILE 5-15 AND THEY CHECKED AND NO RECALLS ARE ON OUR CAR BUT I'VE READ NUMEROUS SAFETY ISSUES ABOUT THESE VEHICLES. LAST WEEK WHILE IT WAS RAINING I NOTICED MY CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS SLIDING OR SKATING ONCE AGAIN CALLED DEALER WAS TOLD STILL CAN'T HELP ANY SOONER. NOW TODAY WHILE WINDY AND RAINING IT WAS AWFUL LITERALLY A FIGHT TO KEEP IT IN THE ROAD IT WAS SWAYING AND MOST DEFINITELY DID NOT FEEL SAFE. MYSELF AND MY HUSBAND HAVE 3 SONS AND HE WORKS FOR THE STATE OF KY FORESTRY DEPT. FIGHTING WILDFIRES AND WORKS A LOT AND IS SOMETIMES OUT OF STATE FOR 21-40 DAYS STRAIGHT SO HE'S NOT HERE MUCH TO CHECK THINGS OUT. OUR BOYS ARE ALL INTO SPORTS AND OTHER AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS YEAR ROUND WITH LOTS OF TRAVELING INVOLVED. MY CONCERN IS FROM ALL THE SUSPENSION ISSUES I'VE READ THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY CAR BUT SAYS 0 WHICH DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT. I WANNA BE SURE THAT MY FAMILY WILL BE SAFE WHEN IN THIS VEHICLE AND AS IF RIGHT NOW IT SURE DOESN'T FEEL LIKE IT. PLEASE HELP ME FIND MORE INFO BECAUSE HITTING A POT HOLE (VERY SMALL BUMP ZERO DAMAGE) SHOULDN'T CAUSE ALL THESE PROBLEMS REQUIRING MY FAMILY TO HAVE TO SPEND A TON OF MONEY TO FIX. THIS ISN'T GOOD BUSINESS AND I WOULD HOPE CHEVROLET WOULD CARE IF THE SAFETY OF A WHOLE FAMILY WOULD BE IN JEPORADY OVER SOMETHING THAT SHOULDN'T BE WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE THAT BY THE WAY ONLY HAS 79000 MILES ON IT. THE AIR CONDITION SYSTEM WON'T STAY COLD HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS THE EVAPORATOR POSSIBLY MORE BUT ITS GONNA COST 1000. TO 2500.00 TO GET FIXED. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND APPARENTLY THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH TRAVERSE 'S ARE OR HAD THE SAME ISSUES. I THINK IT'S TIME FOR A RECALL TO BE DONE. MY DAUGHTER HAD 4 CHILDREN AGES 2YRS 8YRS AND TWO 10YR OLDS AND 7 AND A HALF MONTHS PREGNANT DRIVING 90 MILES ROUND TRIP TO WORK AND HOME CHILDREN RIDE TO THE TOWN SHE WORKS IN FOR DAYCARE SO THEY ARE IN THIS HOT VEHICLE A WELL. SHE IS STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON THIS VEHICLE. WE HAVE PUT FREON AFTER FREON IN TRYING TO KEEP IT MIGHT LAST 5 MINUTES TO AN HOUR IF THEY LONG. .
STEERING LOCKS UP, THERE IS POWER STEERING FLUID IN IT, BUT HAVING A MAJOR PROBLEM STEERING AND MAKING TURNS. STEERING LOCKS OR FREEZES UP AND IT WON'T MOVE WHILE DRIVING. THERE IS NOTHING LEAKING ANYWHERE. WAS THERE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE?
I HAVE A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE LTD, I'VE ONLY OWNED THE CAR 8 MONTHS. THE TRACTION CONTROL IS CONSTANTLY COMING ON! THE MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN APPEARS: SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRACK. AFTER, THIS HAPPENS, ANOTHER MESSAGE APPEARS REDUCING ENGINE POWER. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE AT THIS POINT THE MORE I TRY TO ACCELERATE, THE MORE THE ENGINE GOES DOWN. THIS IS SO VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THIS COULD HAPPEN WHEN I'M NOT ABLE TO PULL OVER! THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED OR SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED! NORMALLY, 80% OF THE TIME I'M ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE WHEN THIS HAPPENS OR I'M ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED AFTER THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS RELEASED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,470.
2011 TRAVERSE ONLY 67000 MILES ON IT BUT EXPERIENCE ENGINE ERROR CODE P0008 AND P0017 WHICH INDICATES SOMETHING WRONG WITH TIMING CHAIN. 2009 MODEL OF TRAVERSE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AND IS COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY BY GM. BUT 2011 MODEL IS NOT COVERED, AND WILL COST $3000 TO FIX AND REPAIRE
MY TRAVERSE STARTED AT THE BEGINNING OF WINTER RANDOMLY HAVING THE ENGINE LIGHT COME ON THEN THE VEHICLE WOULD DING AND I WOULD GET A MESSAGE OF "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" THEN "SERVICE STABILITRACK" AND THEN IT WOULD DING AGAIN AND I WOULD GET THE MESSAGE "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AFTER A COUPLE MONTHS THIS HAPPENED EVERY TIME I STARTED THE CAR AND WAS FINALLY ABLE TO TAKE IT IN TO HAVE THE CODE READ. TURNS OUT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS SHOT. GM REPLACED THIS UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. WELL UPON PICKING MY VECHEL UP I WAS TOLD THE REAR O2 SENSOR WAS SHOT, THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME $250 TO REPLACE IT, I OPTED OUT AND MY HUSBAND, AN ON THE SIDE MECHANIC, FIXED IT FOR A TOTAL OF $30. SERVICE LIGHT STILL ON AFTER NEW O2 SENSOR. MY VEHICLE WAS ALSO MAKING A WEIRD SOUND AT THIS TIME WHICH I DESCRIBED TO MY HUSBAND AS A GRINDING. THEY HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER AGAIN AND SAID THAT THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG INFO LAST TIME THAT IT WAS THE FRONT O2 SENSOR THAT WAS BAD BUT THAT WAS THE ONLY CODE. SO I ORDERED ANOTHER O2 SENSOR FOR MY HUSBAND TO FIX... 2 DAYS LATER MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AT ME. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND SHUT MY VEHICLE OFF. I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO AGAIN ASK IF ANOTHER CODE WAS THROWN, WAS TOLD NO... DROVE MY VEHICLE HOME AND MY HUSBAND DROVE IT. HE KNEW IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN. HE CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP ONCE MORE AND THEY QUOTED US AT $2500 TO REPLACE AS THE ENTIRE MOTOR HAS TO COME OUT. HE CALLED TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP 40 MILES AWAY AND IT WAS $1900 TO FIX. I GOT ON THE PHONE WITH GM AND WANTED TO KNOW IF THERE WAS ANY RECALLS AS THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND AT THIS TIME THERE ARE NOT SO THEY DIDN'T COVER ANY OF THE COST!!! I HAVE A COUSIN WHO ALSO HAS A 2011 TRAVERSE AND IT IS CURRENTLY SITTING AT THE SHOP WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, HOWEVER HERS ALSO NEEDS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED!!
WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHEN I WAS ON THE ROAD. STILL CONTINUE NOT TO WORK. WHICH IS NOT FUN TO DRIVE. HOPING FOR NO RAIN. NOT SURE WHY MINE DOESN'T HAVE A RECALL BEING ITS IN THE SNOW STATE AND THEY ARE REPLACING A PART. SO I AM SUPPOSE TO PAY FOR IT MYSELF? ANOTHER ISSUE, OUR WINDOWS DON'T WANT TO ROLL UP BACK UP. OUR BACK RIGHT WINDOW HAS GOTTEN STUCK DOWN. THE BUTTON BACK THERE AND IN FRONT WON'T BRING IT BACK UP. WE HAVE TO TRY IT FOR LIKE AN HOUR, TURNING THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF, REAMING ON THE BUTTONS TO GET IT UP. IF THERE IS A SHORT CIRCUIT SOMEWHERE? WE CAN'T ADJUST OUR MIRRORS. ASSUMING AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH ALL OF THIS.
BOUGHT CAR CERTIFIED USED IN 4/2014 FROM DEALER WHO PERFORMED RECALL 13079 (WATER PUMP SHAFT LEAK). WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 68 MPH, CAR LOST POWER, OVERHEATED WITH SMOKE COMING FROM HOOD. WIFE WAS DRIVING WITH KIDS IN BACK - COULD HAVE GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT OR CAR COULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE. LOCAL SHOP SAYS WATER PUMP LEAKED AND FAILED CAUSING COOLANT LEAK. CALLED GM REG. DEFECTIVE RECALL WORK AND FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIR COSTS - THEY REFUSED SAYING ITS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT THE ORIGINAL WORK WASN'T A RECALL BUT A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM. I DISAGREE - CAR COULD HAVE GOTTEN INTO ACCIDENT DUE TO LOST POWER AND COULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE. GM SHOULD ISSUE RECALL AND REIMBURSE COSTS FOR DEFECTIVE WORKSMANSHIP.
WHILE DRIVING AT LEAST 45 MPH MY CAR WAS RUNNING FINE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY LOCKS STARTED LOCKING AND UNLOCKED AND THE CAR SHIFTED SO HARD I AM SURPRISED I DID NOT WRECK MY VEHICLE WITH MY SON AND INFANT DAUGHTER. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO DO THE LOCK SWITCHING AND NUMEROUS LIGHTS WERE FLASHING ON MY DASH. I WAS SCARED TO DEATH NONETHELESS. I HAVE HAD MORE SENSORS, WATER PUMP ETC. THAT YOU CAN EVEN BEGIN TO IMAGINE ON THIS VEHICLE. IT IS BY FAR THE WORST VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED. I WILL NEVER AGAIN BY A CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. JUST HAD MY CAR SERVICES TWO DAYS AGO AND NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME BACK ON. I AM NOT EVEN SHOCKED AT THIS POINT. I AM SCARED TO EVEN DRIVE MY VEHICLE WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR BECAUSE OF THE TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE THAT WE ENCOUNTERED. I HAD THE SO CALLED ISSUE FIXED WHICH WAS A SENSOR.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IS JUST DIED AND EVERYTHING LOCKED UP AND ALMOST RAIN INTO A CURB WITH KIDS IN THE CAR. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND HAD THE CODE P008 AND CAR DIAGONOSED WITH TIMING CHAIN ISSUES AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
THE SEAT BELT RESTRAINT CABLE WAS ON A PREVIOUS RECALL, IT WAS TAKEN TO JONES CHEVROLET IN LEXINGTON TN FOR REPAIR. IT HAS THIS PAST YEAR BROKEN AND I HAD TO REPLACE IT. I WILL NEED TO REPLACE BOTH SOON AND SUSPECT THAT OTHERS ARE DRIVING AROUND WITH THESE DEFECTIVE UNITS. *TR
LOSING POWER STEERING FLUID AT THE RACK AND PINION , HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE TRAVERSE AND BUICK ENCLAVE. I THINK GM SHOULD REPAIR OR PAY FOR REPAIR OF THIS PROBLEM.
MY PROBLEM IS THAT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT THESE RECALLS ON MY FAMILY VEHICLE AND ALMOST EVER DAY HAVE THREE KIDS IN THE CAR THAT ARE IN HARMS WAY. AND STILL PAYING FOR THIS PIECE OF JUNK!
I STARTED MY SUV AND PUT IT IN REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. UPON TRYING TO TURN, NOTICED MY STEERING WHEEL WAS COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. TRIED BRAKING SO I WOULDN'T ROLL INTO THE STREET WITH MY CHILDREN. BRAKES WERE EXTREMELY RESISTANT AND HARD TO PRESS DOWN. I THEN PUT IT INTO DRIVE TO TRY TO GET OUT OF THE STREET AND MY GAS PEDAL WAS NOT WORKING. I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE FORWARD, UNABLE TO STEER, AND BARELY ABLE TO BRAKE. TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. TRIED AGAIN 2 MINUTES LATER, SAME PROBLEM PERSISTED. TURNED OFF VEHICLE AND EXITED WHILE CAR WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD STREET. 15 MINUTES LATER THE ISSUES SEEMED TO NO LONGER BE A PROBLEM AND I WAS ABLE TO MOVE MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE DRIVEWAY.

ACUTATOR WENT OUT, APPARENTLY IT'S PRETTY COMMON IN THESE
I PURCHASED THIS 2011 TRAVERSE USED IN 2013 WITH APPROXIMATELY 28,000 MILES ON IT IN AURORA, CO. IT NOW HAS ABOUT 118,000 MILES. I HAVE HAD WARNING LIGHTS ON THE ABS AND STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEMS COME ON, ALONG WITH ERROR MESSAGES INDICATING STABILITY CONTROL AND AWD ARE DEACTIVATED FOR ABOUT A WEEK THAT DO NOT RESET UPON RESTARTING THE CAR. TODAY, I EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS LOSSES OF ENGINE POWER, AS THOUGH THE CAR HAD DROPPED INTO NEUTRAL, WHILE DRIVING SURFACE STREETS AT APPROXIMATELY 30-35MPH. DESPITE PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY DROPPED DOWN TO 10-15MPH FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. RESEARCH ONLINE IN THE CHEVROLET FORUMS INDICATES A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE, BUT SHOWS NO CORPORATE INVESTIGATION OR RECALL INTO THIS, THOUGH MANY PEOPLE REPORT SIMILAR LOSSES OF POWER ON HIGHWAYS AT 60+MPH, SUDDENLY DROPPING TO 10MPH. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY IN TRAFFIC IF SUCH A LOSS OF POWER OCCURS AGAIN.

ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL RECALL I WAS DRIVING ALONG AT 60 MPH THE INTERSTATE WHEN MY ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON, THE FIRST WARNING SAID 'TRACTION CONTROL TURNED OFF', IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY 'SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL', THEN IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER WARNING LIGHT "SERVICE STABILITRACK", THEN IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER WARNING "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". THE VEHICLE WENT FROM 60 MPH IMMEDIATELY DOWN TO 20 MPH. REMIND YOU THAT WE WERE ON THE INTERSTATE, IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THIS IMMEDIATELY TURNED INTO A VERY SERIOUS SITUATION. WE ARE VERY FORTUNATE THAT WE WERE NOT REAR ENDED, AND CAUSE HUGE PILE UP. WE MANAGED TO MAKE IT OVER TO THE SHOULDER, WE ARE STILL NOT OUT OF DANGER AS SEMI TRUCKS, CARS, ARE DRIVING BY US AT VERY HIGH SPEEDS IN LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS. OUR CAR WAS BEING BLOWN SIDE TO SIDE FROM THE WIND FORCE FROM THESE VEHICLES. MY 2 YEAR OLD SON WAS IN THE BACK SEAT AND WE ARE VERY LUCKY WE WERE NOT INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE IN TO GET IT LOOKED AT, THE MECHANIC COULD NOT DETERMINE THE ISSUE AS THE PROBLEM IS ONLY SPORADIC. NOW A MONTH LATER THE VEHICLE GIVES US THESE WARNINGS AND HAS THESE SAME ISSUES DAILY. WE CAN NOT FIND A RESOLUTION. PLEASE RECALL THIS VEHICLE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED AND SO WE DRIVE IN COMFORT THAT WE WILL MAKE IT TO OUR DESTINATION AND SAFELY.
TIMING CHAIN WENT OUT AT 86000 MILES
WHILE DRIVING MY TRAVERSE MY TRACTION CONTROL WILL TURN OFF, SERVICE STABILITRAK WILL COME ON AND IT WILL SAY ENGINE POWER REDUCED AND WILL SLOWLY START TO SLOW DOWN. IF YOU COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND TRY TO HIT THE GAS AGAIN IT WILL SHAKE AND KIND OF STUDDER. THIS HAS HAPPENED BOTH ON A CITY STREET AND ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CITY STREET WAS ON A CURVY ROAD AND THE HIGHWAY WAS A STRAIGHTAWAY. THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED WHILE IN MOTION. IN ORDER FOR IT TO STOP WE WOULD HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF FOR 10-15 SECONDS AND RESTART IN WHICH SOMETIMES IT WOULD STOP FOR A WHILE AND OTHERS IT WOULD ONLY STOP FOR A MILE OR LESS. THIS IS THE SECOND YEAR IT HAS DONE IT AND BOTH YEARS IT HAS DONE IT IN THE COLD. LAST YEAR WE CLEANED THE WHEEL SENSORS AND IT STOPPED BUT THIS YEAR WE HAVE TRIED MULTIPLE THINGS AND NOTHING IS WORKING. A 3 AND HALF HOUR DRIVE HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS TOOK 7 HOURS IN THE SLEET WITH MY 3 YEAR OLD AT 3 IN THE MORNING. THAT'S NOT OKAY. I'M NOT WILLING TO HAVE THAT HAPPEN AGAIN. SOMETHING NEEDS TO CHANGE.
DRIVING THE TRAVERSE STARTED TO SMELL WIRES BURNING IN THE CABIN DASHLIGHTS STARTED GOING CRAZY AND DINGING . WAS ABOUT A MILE TO WHERE I COULD PULL OVER SAFELY .. STARTED TO PULL OFF THE BREAKS AND STEERING SEEMED TO STOP WORKING AND THE VEHICLE DIED.. I NEARLY HIT BRIDGE PILLAR NOT BEING ABLE TO STEER OR STOP.. EARLY DECEMBER I HEARD SOUND INDICATING STEERING ISSUE, SUPPORTED BY LOCAL MECHANIC WHEN GETTING OIL CHANGE. RESEARCHED CAUSES AND PRICES ONLINE AND FOUND SERVICE BULLETIN #14329A FROM GM. I ADHERED TO BULLETIN AND TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER. THEY CONFIRMED SB APPLIED TO MY VEHICLE. LATER RECEIVED A CALL THAT THE STEERING GEAR WAS ALSO AT ISSUE BUT NOT COVERED BY BULLETIN TO THE TUNE OF~ $1200.00 FOR "NECESSARY" REPLACEMENT.. I TRIED TO GET LOCAL DEALER SERVICE MANAGER AND AGENTS FOR GM CARES TO EXPLAIN HOW EITHER ORIGINAL PART WAS NOT POORLY DESIGNED OR MANUFACTURED OR THE FLUID WAS NOT ADEQUATE FOR THE STEERING ASSEMBLY TO HAVE NOT CAUSED THIS PROBLEM. WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL IN DISCUSSIONS WITH THEM. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY AN ISSUE WITH THE STEERING GM IS AVOIDING RESPONSIBILITY FOR. WHILE NOT HAPPY ABOUT BEING OUT $1200 FOR ASSOCIATED REPAIR ON A GM SERVICE BULLETIN, I AM MORE CONCERNED THAT THE STEERING ASSEMBLY OF THE VEHICLE IS FAULTY AND PLACES MY GRANDCHILDREN AT RISK. ONLY ON THE LAST DAY BEFORE DROPPING OFF AT DEALER WAS THERE ANY ISSUE WITH DEGREE OF DIFFICULTY OF THE STEERING. I REQUESTED THE STEERING GEAR THEY REMOVED AND HAVE IT IN MY POSSESSION. I HAVE AN EMAILED SUMMARY STATEMENT FROM GM CARES ON MY COMPLAINT AND A COPY OF THE INVOICE ON THE REPAIR.

THE 2011 TRAVERSE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE COST TO REPAIR IS ABOUT $4,500. GM SHOULD REIMBURSE FOR THIS ISSUE AS THE FLAW HAS NOT BEEN FIXED IN 2011 MODEL.

GM/CHEVY DENIES ANY WRONG DOING AND ACT LIKE THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE YET ITS ALL OVER THE INTERNET! THE DEALERSHIPS GUESS AT WHAT TO FIX COSTING THE CAR OWNER OUT OF POCKET FOR IT TO CONTINUOUSLY HAPPEN. THIS VEHICLE IS A DEATH TRAP! THIS VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS NUMEROUS TIME TO ME BEGINNING IN APRIL OF 2017.
I KEEP GETTING CODES FOR EMISSION AND TIMINGS CHAIN. MY BACK UP SAFETY SENSOR AND WHEEL SENSOR DOESN'T WORK.
WHILE DRIVING THE SENSOR COMES ON AND SAYS THE STABILITY CONTROL IS OFF. THEN TURNING THE STABILITY CONTROL BACK ON BY THE BUTTON IT RESETS. THEN DRIVING IT AGAIN IT GOES BACK OFF. SOME TIMES IT RESETS BY IT SELF BY TURNING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING IT. THEN THE SENOR DOESN'T GO OFF. YET THEN THE NEXT TIME IT IS RESTARTED IT GOES BACK OFF. DRIVING DOWN ANY ROAD NO WATER OR ICE ON ROAD AT ALL COMPLETELY DRY.
I ONLY MADE ONE PAYMENT ON MY CAR AND I DON'T FEEL IT'S SAFE TO DRIVE OR PUT MY KIDS IN. THE STEERING AND TIRES OR SOMETHING JUST SWAY PULL NOISE AND I FEEL I DON'T HAVE ANY CONTROL.
I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM DINNER WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED REVVING ON IT'S OWN AND THE CAR BEGAN JERKING. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE ENGINE KILLED. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTED THAT THE BATTERY WAS SUPPLING ENOUGH POWER AND THE TEMPERATURE GAGE WAS NORMAL. AT THIS TIME, THE LIGHTS STARTED TO FLICKER, THE RPMS WERE GOING UP AND DOWN FAIRLY QUICKLY AND THE WINDOWS AND LOCKS WERE CLICKING. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME (5 MILES), BUT THE PROBLEMS PERSISTED THE ENTIRE DRIVE. THE SECOND I WOULD LET ME FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL, THE ENGINE WOULD KILL. I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND HE SAID WHEN HE HOOKED IT UP TO THE MACHINE TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, THERE WAS SO MUCH WRONG HE COULDN'T ACTUALLY TELL WHAT WAS CAUSING WHAT. THE COMPUTER AND ENGINE BOTH WERE RECOMMENDED TO BE REPLACED. I LET HIM KNOW AS WELL IT HAD BECOME MORE DIFFICULT IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS TO TURN THE WHEEL WHEN GOING AT A SLOW SPEED AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO PARK. HE STATED IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR. THE STEERING, THE COMPUTER AND THE ENGINE HE HAS SEEN MULTIPLE CUSTOMERS HAVE PROBLEMS WITH.
THE HEADLIGHT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THE WIRING SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED BUT RUNNING IN A DRIVEWAY. THIS CAUSED ABOUT 2000 IN DAMAGES TO THE VEHICHLE.

THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V266000 (SEAT BELTS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,295.

THEY ARE SAYING THE FRONT TIMING COVER IS LEAKING $1314, THE STEERING RACK IS LEAKING $1804 , SWAYBAR BUSHING IS LOOSE $233 AND BUNCH OF OTHER THINGS. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED AT 100,000 MILES AND A FEW OTHE MAJOR PROBLEMS THAT WERE COVER UNDER WARRANTY

I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THE TIMING BELT WENT OUT AND RUINED THE ENGINE, TOTAL COST FOR NEW ENGINE $7250 AND DESPITE OTHER YEARS AND VIN NUMBERS BEING RECALLED THEY REFUSED TO COVER MY VEHICLE THAT ONLY HAS 52,000 MILES. MECHANIC ALL BUT ADMITTED IT WAS A FLAW AND TOLD ME TO SAVE MY RECEIPT. I ASKED HIM IF THE ONLY WAY CHEVY WILL COVER IT IS IF SOMEONE GETS KILLED, OR IF ENOUGH PEOPLE COMPLAIN AND HE SAID YES. WHY NOT BE HONEST ABOUT IT AND STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT? NOW I'M SCARED EVEN WITH A NEW ENGINE IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN, ONLY I MIGHT NOT BE LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE IN MY DRIVEWAY.
WENT FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THEN NOTICED MY COOLANT RESERVOIR COMPLETELY. I CONTACTED OIL COMPANY AND TOPPED COOLANT OFF. NEXT DAY WENT TO WORK AND OIL COMPANY CAME TO INSPECT THE CAR AND COOLANT EMPTY AGAIN. WENT TO OIL COMPANY AFTER WORK AND WAS ADVISED TO GO TO DEALERSHIP AS IT APPEARS TO BE A WATER PUMP LEAK. NEXT MORNING WENT TO SHAHEEN CHEVROLET AND PAID $101.86 AND THE ADVISED IT WAS MY WATER PUMP LEAKING AT SHAFT WEEP HOLE. I RESEARCH3RD AND FOUND RECALL 13079 AND CONTACTED GM AT 18002221020 AND S/W ANNA AND WAS ADVISED ITS NOT A RECALL BUT A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM. AND THAT I HAD THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION ON 4/19/2014 AND IT ONLY CARRIED A 12 MONTH WARRANTY. HOWEVER SINCE THIS SEEMS RELATED THEY WILL ASSIGN MY CASE TO A SENIOR ADVISOR ...CASE 8-3280633041
