VEHICLE HAD HAD BEEN SHUDDERING AND MISFIRING ON AND OFF FOR QUITE SOME TIME, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, TOOK TO SHOP FOR DIAGNOSIS. SHOP STATED CODES WERE RELATED TO STRETCHED TIMING CHAINS. I THEN TOOK TO DEALER, GOT SAME DIAGNOSIS AND A $2,000 ESTIMATE. HAD REPAIRS DONE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS NOT COME BACK ON SINCE. CAR WOULD HESITATE AND LOOSE POWER ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE WHEN TAKING OFF IN TRAFFIC. FELT UNSAFE DRIVING, AS I NEVER KNEW WHEN CAR WAS GOING ACCELERATE OR NOT.
TIMING CHAIN NEEDED AT 60,000 MILES, I WAS TOLD GM IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, IT WAS SUGGESTED TO WAIT FOR THE RECALL, AFTER WAITING ONE YEAR STILL NOTHING HAPPENED. $3000.00 TO FIX!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ONE WEEK AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING BELT WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
AS I WAS DRIVING MY TRACTION COMTROL WENT OUT AND IS TELLING ME TO SERVICE STABILITRACK..I JUST REPLACE THE THROTTLE NOT EVEN 2 YEARS AGO
A NUMBER OF MONTHS AGO, WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WENT ON AN A MESSAGE DISPLAYING "REDUCED POWER ENGINE" WAS DISPLAYED. AT THE SAME TIME, THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED., THE ENGINE POWER WAS REDUCED FOR FEW SECONDS AND THEN EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL. MONTHS BEFORE THE DESCRIBED INCIDENT, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CHEVROLET DESCRIBING THIS ISSUE AND STATING ABOUT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO COVER THIS ISSUE. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS I WILL BE CHARGED ROUGHLY $150.00 TO DETECT THE ISSUE AND, IF AND ONLY IF, CERTAIN CODES WERE DISPLAYED ON THE SCAN, IT WILL BE COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. SINCE IT WAS EXPENSIVE I DECIDED TO GO TO ANOTHER PLACE AND THE SCAN FOR FREE AND OBTAIN THE CODES. NO CODES WERE DISPLAYED. SINCE 4 MONTHS AGO THE ENGINE SHUTOFF WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING, TO START THE ENGINE IS REQUIRED TO STOP BY ANY POSSIBLE WAY, AND RESTART THE ENGINE. ONCE AGAIN, ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD TURN AND THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUTOFF. THIS HAD HAPPENED AT LEAST SIX TIMES IN THE LAST 4 MONTHS. IN ALL OF THIS INCIDENTS I CAN NOT TELL IF THE "REDUCED POWER ENGINE" MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED SINCE THE PRIORITY IS TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE COUPLE WEEKS AGO TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS CHARGED ABOUT $150.00 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE FEEDBACK FROM CHEVROLET WAS THAT NOTHING WAS WITH IN THE VEHICLE. IT IS INCONCEIVABLE THAT I WAS CHARGED THAT MUCH BY CHEVROLET TO COME BACK WITH A RESPONSE THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. CHEVROLET IS WELL AWARE (THE LETTER RECEIVED IN THE PAST) THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. FURTHERMORE, THE INTERNET IS PLENTY OF PEOPLE DESCRIBING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE TRAVERSE. I DO NOT KNOW THE PARAMETERS OF NHTSA TO CALL WHEN SHOULD BE A RECALL , BUT BASED ON THE LETTER THAT CHEVROLET SENT, AND THE MULTIPLE COMPLAINS SUGGESTS IT MIGHT BE.
MY ENGINE KEEPS USING OIL BUT NOT LEAKING ANYWHERE BETWEEN OIL CHANGES

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE CONTACT SMELLED COOLANT. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SHOTTENKIRK CHEVROLET (LOCATED AT 755 HICKMAN RD, WAUKEE, IA 50263) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. AFTER PERFORMING A ROUTINE TUNE UP ON THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (RAINBOW CHEVROLET IN LAPLACE, LOUISIANA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN MALFUNCTIONED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
ENGINE BEARING FAILURE CAUSING ENGINE TO SEIZE. WHILE DRIVING ON BUSY HIGHWAY VEHICLE STALLED CAUSING UNEXPECTED STOPPING WITH NO WARNING FROM VEHICLE.
TIMING CHANGE
THE STEERING IS HARD AT LOW SPEEDS. TRYING TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPOT THE CAR DOESN'T WANT TO TURN EASILY. AT OTHER TIMES IT WORKS FINE.
JUNE 24, 2017 DRIVING AT 70MPH ON 2 LANE HIGHWAY WITH OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE AROUND 85 DEGREES AND SUDDENLY LOST POWER, SPEED DROPPED QUICKLY, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STOPPED CAR ON SIDE OF ROAD. NARROWLY AVOIDED ACCIDENT FROM SUDDEN DECELERATION. TURNED OFF ENGINE AND WAITED ABOUT 15 SECONDS AND RESTARTED ENGINE. DROVE OK AFTER THAT. HAD SIMILAR LOSS OF POWER WITH WARNING LIGHTS OF "POWER REDUCED" AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FEBRUARY 2017 IN GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT. LEFT ENGINE OFF FOR ABOUT ONE HOUR AND THEN RESTARTED OK BUT ACCELERATION SLUGGISH. TOOK CAR TO AUTO MECHANIC AND THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG.
ENGINE FAILED CATASTROPHICALLY ON THE BUSY I10 FREEWAY AT 50 MPH. IT WAS VERY FORTUNATE THAT A PILE-UP DID NOT OCCUR. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN INJURY OR DEATH. DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO A CLOGGED CATALYTIC CONVERTER THAT STARTED TO DISINTEGRATE AND BLOW ABRASIVE CERAMIC DUST BACK INTO THE ENGINE. EVENTUALLY CAUSING IT'S COMPLETE FAILURE.
I OWN A 2011 CHEVY TRAVERSE WITH JUST OVER 80,000 MILES. I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE STREET AND STOPPED TO MAKE A LEFT HAND AGAINST TRAFFIC, AS I MOVED MY POWER STEERING LOCKED. I MANAGED TO COMPLETE THE TURN WITHOUT THE POWER STEERING. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP HAD FAILED AND THAT THERE WAS ALSO A LEAK IN THE STEERING RACK. THEY ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AS IT WAS A KNOWN FAULT AND SHOULD BE REPAIRED FOR FREE. I TOOK IT TO THE CHEVY DEALER WHO SAID THAT AS THERE WAS A LEAK IT WAS NOT COVERED BY GENERAL MOTORS AS THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF THE STEERING PUMP BY THE DEALER. IF IT IS A KNOWN FAULT GM AND DEALERS SHOULD DO A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH CODE P008, TOOK TO DEALER & FOUND 3 TIMING CHAINS NEEDED REPLACED WHICH MEANS THE ENGINE MUST COME OUT AND AN OPEN ESTIMATE OF AT LEAST $2350.00. FOUND ON CARTRUCKINFO.COM AND NHTSA.GOV THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT AND NEEDS CORRECTED BY GENERAL MOTORS AND CHEVROLET. UNACCEPTABLE FOR A 2011 VEHICLE WITH 64,000 MILES.
I HAD TO REPLACE AN ENGINE AT 30K MILES DUE TO 'METAL IN OIL". NEVER ONCE MISSED AN OIL CHANGE AND NO WARNING OF ANY ISSUE UNTIL CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD WHILE TRYING TO TURN RIGHT ONTO SIDE STREET.. AFTER REPLACING ENGINE HAD TO GET NEW WHEEL SENORS AS THEY WENT BAD 2 WEEKS LATER. ONE AND A HALF YEARS LATER HERE WE ARE DASH FLASHING SAYING 'SERVICE STABILITRACK, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, ENGIRE POWER REDUCES". CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO ON. MECHANIC SAYS I WILL NEED A NEW ACCELORATOR PEDAL ALONG WITH THROTTLE BODY. THE CAR ITSELF AT THIS POINT IS UNDER 50K MILES. ALSO PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW DOES NOT GO UP OR DOWN WITH DRIVE SIDE DOOR LEVERS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHENEVER THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO USE THE KEY TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE, THE ALARM SYSTEM WOULD SOUND. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PLACE THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION TO TURN OFF THE ALARM SYSTEM; HOWEVER, THE KEY COULD NOT BE TURNED IN THE IGNITION TO START THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IF THE KEY FOB WAS USED TO OPEN THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE STARTED AND FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING. WE WERE ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD WITHOUT GETTING HIT. VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING AND WOULD NOT START. *TR
WIPERS STOP WORKING WHEN THE LEFT SIGNAL TURN WAS ACTIVATED, WIPERS WOULD RESTART WHEN LEFT SIGNAL WAS TURN OFF AND IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION. WHEN DRIVING WIPERS WOULD PERIODICALLY STOP WORKING AND WOULD RETURN TO FUNCTIONING WHEN LEFT WIPER WAS PARTIALLY ACTIVATED AND NOT PUSHED DOWN COMPLETELY. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION.
CAR IS MAKING KNOCKING NOISIES WHEN TURNING EITHER WAY. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE TELLING ME IT US GOING TO COST $1,800 TO FIX. THE PART ONLY COST LIKE $250.00.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I OWN A 2011 CHEVY TRAVERSE AND THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE ON MY WIFE LAST WEEKEND. THIS WAS VERY SCARY FOR HER AND MY KIDS AS THEY WERE ON A MOUNTAIN GOING INTO A CURVE. SHE LOST ALL CONTROL OF STEERING AND BRAKES. I WAS WONDERING IF THERE ARE ANY RECALLS AND OR HELP FROM GM ON GETTING THIS CAR REPAIRED. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, I AM JUST GLAD MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE FINE. THE OUTCOME COULD OF BEEN DIFFERENT AS THEY DESCRIBED IT TO ME. PLEASE GET BACK WITH ME ASAP ON THIS MATTER. I WOULD APPRECIATE IT, BY TOWING THIS BACK TO MY HOUSE AND TO THE SHOP IT HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE. I THINK IT CAUSED THE MOTOR TO MESS UP AS WELL. SO, I AM LOOKING FOR HELP IN THIS MATTER. LOOKS LIKE THE DESIGN OF THIS IS QUESTIONABLE ON HOW THIS CARE WAS MADE AND CAUSES SERIOUS PROBLEMS WHEN A TIMING CHAIN GOES OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION.
WE WERE DOING NORMAL DRIVING AROUND TOWN WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE STARTED RUNNING VERY ROUGH. WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE SLOWLY AND GET THE VEHICLE HOME. THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A CHEVROLET DEALER TO BE LOOKED AT. THE DEALER SAID THE TIMING CHAIN AND PISTONS WERE OUT AND THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE MOTOR. THEY SAID THEY HAD SEEN THIS BEFORE ON THE TRAVERSE AND WOULDN'T KNOW FOR SURE UNTIL THEY TOOK THE ENGINE APART BUT THAT WAS WHAT THE DIAGNOSTICS WERE SHOWING. WE TOWED THE CAR TO ANOTHER SHOP TO GET A SECOND OPINION. THEY ALSO STATED THE PISTONS AND BEARINGS WERE BAD, THE TIMING BELT WAS BAD AND THEY WOULD KNOW MORE IF THEY TOOK IT APART. THEY ALSO RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE MOTOR BECAUSE OF THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE. WE REPLACED THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE HAD 108,000 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE ENGINE FAILURE.
THE POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT/HAD PROBLEMS TWICE IN 67,000 MILES. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE FOR MY FAMILY AND ALL THE OTHERS THAT ARE DRIVING THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. A VEHICLE WITHOUT POWER STEERING IS A SAFETY CONCERN. CHEVROLET PROVIDED ADDITIONAL COVERAGE FOR A PROBLEM THEY IDENTIFIED WITH THE POWER STEERING, HOWEVER IT DOESN'T COVER ALL OF THE REPEATED PROBLEMS OWNERS CONTINUE TO HAVE. THERE NEEDS TO BE ADDITIONAL COVERAGE SO THAT OWNERS CAN GET THE PROBLEM FIXED AND SAFELY DRIVE THEIR VEHICLES.

LOOKS LIKE CHEVY HAS HAD IT SINCE 2008 ON THAT SAME MODEL AND THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON 2008-2009 MODELS BUT NOTHING SINCE, JUST THE ISSUE STILL REMAINS. IT IS A TIMING CHAIN ISSUE THAT HAS OCCURRED IN MANY MANY CASES. AT 120,000 MILES THE VEHICLE BEGIN EXHIBITING THE ISSUES AS DESCRIBED IN SPECIAL WARRANTY 14329. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO TOLD ME THAT WHILE THE SAME TWO PARTS LISTED IN THE WARRANTY HAD FAILED THEY DID NOT FAIL IN THE MANNER THAT IS COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. I FIND IT VERY CONVENIENT THAT THESE TWO PARTS WHICH DO NOT FAIL ROUTINELY IN VEHICLES FAILED WITHIN THE WARRANTY PERIOD BUT IT WAS NOT CAUSED BUT THE WARRANTY ISSUE. UNLESS I RECEIVE THE $2000 THIS REPAIR COSTS BACK OR IT IS PROVEN TO ME EMPIRICALLY THAT THIS WAS NOT CAUSED BY THE WARRANTY I WILL CONTINUE TO PURSUE REPAYMENT OF THE MONEY OWED TO ME. I WILL ALSO ENSURE THAT NO ONE WITHIN MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS PURCHASES ANOTHER GM VEHICLE UNTIL THIS MATTER IS HANDLED. I HAVE SUBMITTED A CASE TO CHEVY WITH NUMBER 8-2782147523
SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND DISPLAYS ON MY DASHBOARD. WAS TOLD THE SEAT MODULE WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1,271.00 WHO WOULD THINK THIS GOES BAD AND COSTS THIS MUCH TOO REPLACE. THIS IS THE FIRST GM CAR I EVER HAD THIS ISSUE WITH AND I HAVE OWNED QUITE A FEW OVER THE LAST 20+ YEARS.
TIMING CHAIN, HEADS, VALVES QUIT RUNNING THE TIMING CHAIR JUMPED AND MY CAR WON'T RUN NOW. THE CHEV DEALER SAID THAT IT IS A REOCCURRING ISSUE IN 2011 CHEV TRAVERSE.
TRACTION CONTROL COMES ON STATING TRACTION CONTROL IS OFF AND ENGINE POWER REDUCES TO 20 MPH AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE PASS 20MPH I WAS ON [XXX] TRAVELING ABOUT 70 MPH WHEN THE TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON AND REDUCED POWER TO 20MPH NO THROTTLE. THIS OCCURRED 4 TIMES WITHIN AN HOUR. THE THIRD TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULDNT GO OFF. EACH TIME IT HAPPENED I PULLED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROADWAY TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON. THIS SEEMED TO RESET IT BUT THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. VERY UNSAFE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED DEC 2015. DRIVING OUT OF TOWN ON THE HIGHWAY AND VEHICLE SHUT COMPLETELY OFF BARLEY MISSED AND ONCOMING 18 WHEELER. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY INFORMED ME THAT CHEVROLET IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THEY PATCHED THE PROBLEM. TODAY 1/27/2017 A YEAR LATER THE SAME PROBLEM. DRIVING TO WORK AND THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. CALLED THE CHEVROLET CORPORATE NUMBER WHEN I WAS TELLING THEM WHAT ABOUT THE VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF. CHEVROLET CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICES MALE WAS TELLING ME WHAT THE PROBLEM MAY BE THE ENGINE AND TELLING WHAT THE VEHICLE WAS DOING WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF, HOW THE POWERTRAN LOCK. BUT THEY REFUSE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE TELLING ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. WHY, SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET WHEN CHEVROLET IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THE DEALERSHIP ALSO INFORMED ME THAT CHEVROLET IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM PUT DOES NOT WANT TO DO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. I WAS EXPLAINING THE CHEVROLET CORPORATE THAT EACH TIME THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL CAR ACCIDENT. BUT CHEVROLET RESPONSE WAS SORRY TO HEAR BUT HERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO. *TR
A BEEP OCCURS AND AN ERROR - NO TRACTION CONTROL OFF - SERVICE STABILITRACK - ENGINE POWER REDUCED; THE VEHICLE HAS 110K MILES AND THIS HAVE NEVER HAPPEND BEFORE. THESE ERRORS HAVE ACCURED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND ALSO RIGHT AS YOU START IT UP. DEALERSHIP HAS OFFED TO "TRY TO FIX" THE ISSUE FOR THE TUNE OF $5000 HOWEVER THEY DO NOT KNOW IF IT WILL ACTULLY FIX THE ISSUE. SO CHEVY WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS?
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN DRIVING ON A CITY STREET GOING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. THE NEXT DAY THE TEMP GAGE SPIKE TO 260 IN SAME CONDITIONS AND AS SOON AS PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY COOLANT SPILLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY. THE FAN CONTINUED TO RUN EVEN AFTER VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. ADDED COOLANT TO GET TO DEALERSHIP THAT IS 4 MILES A WAY. HALFWAY THERE ENGINE STARTED SMOKING, PULLED OVER & COOLANT LEAKED EVERYWHERE AGAIN. NEEDS A NEW WATER PUMP, THERMOSTAT, COOLANT FLUID EXCHANGE DUE TO LEAK, & TRANSMISSION FLUID EXCHANGE. *TR
BOUGHT THE CAR OCTOBER OF 2010 AND NOW THETIMING CHAIN NEEDS REPLACING. I READ ALL 2009 MODELS TIMEING CHAINS WERE REPLACE BY CHEVROLET UNDER A SPECIAL WARRANTY AND I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR
I HAD CONTACTED CHEVY CORPORATE ON THE STEERING ISSUE ON MY CAR WHILE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. NEEDLESS TO SAY THERE WERE NO HELP. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP MANY TIMES BECAUSE OF THE STEERING ALONE. SINCE THEN I HAVE OTHER ISSUES WITH MY 2011 TRAVERSE. NOW THE CAR SHUTS WHILE DRIVING. IT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT OF GM OWNERS OF DIFFERENT VEHICLES ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I GUESS THERE WILL NOT BE A RECALL UNTIL SOMEONE DIES OVER THIS. SOME OF THE ISSUES INCLUDED ALL 4 STRUTS WERE BAD UNDER 100,000 MILES, RACK AND PINION GOING UP, STEERING ISSUES, LEAKING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN, 3 TIMES THE AC ACTUATOR HAS GONE UP, ISSUES WITH THE LIFT GATE FAILING, LIFE GATE ONE TIME INJURED MY FATHER-IN-LAW, TIMING CHAIN FAILING PREMATURELY, AND NOW THE STABILITRAK AND TRACTION CONTROL IS GOING OFF. THE VEHICLE SHUTS UP WHILE DRIVING! MY WIFE GOT STUCK ON A BRIDGE AND WAS PUT IN DANGER DUE TO THIS. NOW THE TRAVERSE SITS IN THE DRIVEWAY. MY WIFE SAID A WARNING WAS DISPLAYED ABOUT REDUCING ENGINE POWER. THE TRAVERSE WENT DOWN TO 20MPG AND THEN SHUT OFF ON A BRIDGE. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED.
I PURCHASE THE BRAND NEW CHEVY TRAVERSE IN AUG 2011, ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO I WAS MAKING A U-TURN AND THE VEHICLE STUCK ON THE ROAD AND WOULD NOT TURN, CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID TURN OFF THE CAR AND RE START IN 2 MINUTES. I HAD AROUND 20,000 MILES AT TIME. CURRENTLY I HAVE ABOUT 27K MILES AND 6 MONTHS AGO I MENTION THAT WE HAVE SOME NOISE COMING OUT WHEN WE TURN THE STEERING, DEALER CHECKED DURING MY OIL CHANGE VISIT AND SAID ITS ALL NORMAL. THE NOISE WAS GETTING WORST SO TOOK THE CAR AGAIN AT 25K MILES AND THEY CHECKED IN DETAIL AND SAID RACK AND PINION IS GONE BAD, I WAS SHOCKED THAT AT 25K MILES HOW THIS CAN BE POSSIBLE? THEY SAID ITS VEHICLE AND ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN, THEY CHARGING ME $1861.00 TO REPLACE AS IT IS NOT IN WARRANTY. THIS IS RIDICULOUS THAT AT 25K-27K MILES, GM MEASURE COMPONENT BREAK DOWNS AND THERE IS NO RECALL, I FEEL ME AND MY FAMILY IN DANGER ON THE ROAD DRIVING THE UNSAFE VEHICLE FROM GM/CHEVY
POWER STEERING GETS HARD WHEN IN A LOWER SPEED, FRONT WINDSHIELD WASHER WORKS PARTTIME
IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES NORMALLY WHEN THERE IS SNOW ON THE ROADS, I WILL BE DRIVING THE SPEED LIMIT WHEN SUDDENLY THE TRACTION STABILIZER CONTROL/ABS LIGHTS COME ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CAR STARTED DECELERATING QUICKLY COMING TO A HALT. EVEN THOUGH I PRESS THE GAS PEDAL NO ACCELERATION HAPPENS. I HAVE TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART. THE REMAINDER OF MY DRIVE THE TRACTION STABLIZER CONTROL/ABS STAY ON UNTIL I COME TO MY DESTINATION. THIS IS NOT SAFE. THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS. THIS IS A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO HAVE A RECALL OUT ON THIS ISSUE. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, THANKFULLY THIS CAR IS DRIVEN JUST TO AND FROM WORK FOR SHORT DISTANCES. PLEASE NOTIFY ME ONCE A RECALL HAS BEEN PUT IN PLACE.

WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN (NO MORE THAN 30 MPH), A BEEP OCCURS AND AN ERROR - NO TRACTION CONTROL - SERVICE STABILITRACK - ENGINE POWER REDUCED. I AM THEN UNABLE TO GO OVER 10 MPH. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO COMES ON AT THE END OF THIS. I HAVE TO PULL OVER, STOP MY CAR AND RESTART IN ORDER TO ASSUME REGULAR SPEED, HOWEVER, IT DID HAPPEN TWICE IN A DRIVE THAT WAS ONLY 10 MILES LONG.
TRACTION CONTROL COMES ON STATING TRACTION CONTROL IS OFF AND ENGINE POWER REDUCES TO 20 MPH AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE PASS 20MPH I WAS ON THE EXPRESSWAY TRAVELING ABOUT 50 MPH WHEN THE TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON AND REDUCED POWER TO 20MPH NO THROTTLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ATTEMPTING TO TURN LEFT, THE STEERING COLUMN MADE AN ABNORMAL WHINING SOUND. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE TURN WOULD BE EXTREMELY HARD TO EXECUTE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR AND PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,522.
WHILE DRIVING APPROX 20 MPH OUT OF A PARKING LOT ONTO THE MAIN ROAD AND TURNING LEFT, I HEARD A LOUD WHINING SOUND AND FELT A "THUMP" WITH SOME VIBRATION IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THE CAR CONTINUES TO MAKE THE SAME SOUND WHEN MAKING SHARPER TURNS, LIKE GOING INTO A PARKING SPACE. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT I HAVE A POWER STEERING LEAK AND NEED A NEW STEERING RACK TO THE TUNE OF $1300-1600 REPAIR! THIS CAR ONLY HAS 33,146 MILES. *TR
WHEN RAINING WATER ENTERS INTO AC/HEATING BLOWER ACCESS PANEL AND ACCUMULATES THERE ULTIMATELY CAUSING THE BLOWER MOTOR TO FAIL. ALSO WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN WATER RUNS OUT FROM PANEL ONTO PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR. HAD TO HAVE BLOWER MOTOR REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH NEW ONE. A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM IS NEEDED AS IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES.
HAD A SQUEAKING NOISE WHEN APPLYING BRAKE PEDAL. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO SAID THE THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS LEAKING AND CAUSING THE PROBLEM. COULD EVENTUALLY LEAD TO BRAKING ISSUES. THEY ALSO STATING THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CHEVROLET TRAVERSE MAKE AND MODEL. SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE AND NOT A $600 FIX FOR ME.

IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE A 2011 CHEVY TRAVERSE LTZ WITH JUST UNDER 75K MILES. I HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED IN OCTOBER 2014 BEFORE THERE WAS A RECALL. TODAY, I GOT OUT OF CLASS, PICKED UP MY CHILDREN FROM SCHOOL AND WENT TO THE GROCERY STORE. THIS IS A 2 MILE TRIP ROUND-TRIP. I WAS DRIVING PAST THE KIDS SCHOOL STRAIGHT AHEAD ON CITY STREETS DOING ABOUT 15 MPH, JUST A FEW BLOCKS FROM OUR HOUSE, THE WARNING LIGHTS BEGAN TO BEEP AND THE DIC HAD SEVERAL MESSAGES. "ENGINE HOT A/C OFF" "ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED" AND "ENGINE OVERHEATED IDLE ENGINE". IT BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO HANDLE THE TRUCK. THE HIGH IN CHICAGO TODAY WAS 60 DEGREES AND I ONLY MADE THE ONE TRIP MENTIONED ABOVE. I PLAN ON TAKING IT TO THE DEALER TOMORROW BUT I WANT TO KNOW IF THIS IS A PROBLEM PEOPLE ARE HAVING. *TR

PULL OVER AND LET IT "REST" FOR 15 MINUTES, IT WILL RESUME DRIVING. HAVE ALREADY HAD THIS ISSUE "REPAIRED" FROM CHEVY STORE10 MONTHS AGO. MOSTLY OCCURS WHILE IN MOTION, ONCE WHILE DRIVING 70MPH ON HWY DECELERATED TO 35 MPH AND ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENT. NOW DEALERSHIP IS SUGGESTING I MAKE ANOTHER EXPENSIVE FIX, WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THIS CAR IS A LEMON!!!! TODAY WE ARE BLOCKING TRAFFIC IN A PARKING DECK BECAUSE IT HAS DECIDED TO HAPPEN AGAIN, NO DRIVE, BUT REVERSE WORKS FINE. *TR
