Shift into park message just started coming on even though car is in park. There are numerous complaints and lawsuits online regarding this. You have to jiggle the shifter to make it go away. Waiting for a response from local dealer regarding a quote to fix issue.
When the car is in park the vehicle does not believe the vehicle is in park and will not turn off. There is a service bulletin from GM about the issue but has not been recalled. You must press the start button and shift into a gear at least ten times before the shift to park error goes away.
Shift to park problem. When the car is in park there is an error message stating ‘shift to park.’ I am unable to get out of my car, the car does not turn off or lock and I am trapped in my car in Florida heat with a car beeping or honking if I leave it
After putting it in park, turn off car and it stated it’s not in park! Sometime I can get it to shut off by messing with shifter. Sometimes just let it run until it shuts off!
Put the car in park and turn off and I get a Shift To Park message although the car is already in park. After researching, this appears to be a very common problem on these vehicles. Why is there not a recall to have this fixed? Although my car only has 28,000 miles, it is outside of the 3 year warranty. I transport children every day and it's frustrating when I can't get out of my car until I figure out how to get the message to go away. Shame on Chevrolet! Have an appointment with dealership in the morning!
The vehicle has a bucking motion while accelerating from stop up to speeds in excess of 25 mph . The bucking only occurs while shifting. The cars RPMs drop during this bucking and the vehicle comes close to stalling. The vehicle has 42,000 miles on it. Dealership is saying this is common in all traverse Ciocca dealership Lawrence township NJ but changed transmission and still bucking they said they cant do nothing and keep driving it till 1500-2000 miles
I PURCHASED THE TRAVERSE IN MARCH 2023 AND TRULY ENJOYED IT. BUT IN THE LAST WEEK IT HAS BEEN GIVING PROBLEMS TO PUT IT INTO PARK AND TURN OFF ENGINE, IT KEEPS SAYING TO "SHIFT TO PARK" AND I HAVE TO RESTART AND CHANGE GEARS TO REDO THE PARKING IT MAY BE THE GEAR BOX NOT OPERATING CORRECTLY, AND IT WILL CONTINUE TO DO THE "SHIFT TO PARK" MESSAGE UNTIL I HAVE TO KEEP REDOING THE PARKING AND EVENTUALLY IT WILL STOP. I AM SO WORRIED IT WILL COME OUT OF PARK AND ROLL DOWN THE DRIVEWAY TO STREET, AS I HAVE A SLANTED DRIVEWAY AND NO OPTION TO PARK IN STREET. COULD YOU PLEASE ADVISE ME IF THERE IS A RECALL TO REPAIR THIS. MY DAUGHTER SAID SHE SAW A NOTICE OF IT ON HER PHONE BUT I COULDN'T FIND IT. I AM 75 YRS OLD ON LIMITED INCOME AND DONT WANT TO HAVE ANY ACCIDENTS OR CAUSE ONE. THANK YOU
Car died in middle of intersection. Had it towed to repair shop and replaced starter and 350 AMP fuse. Had car back for less than a week and the exact same issue occurred at a stop light. Had it towed to same repair shop and after checking all wiring mechanic found teeth missing on flywheel which broke the brand new starter. Mechanic states entire engine has to be removed in order to replace flywheel.
Car keep having message “shift to park” this is dangerous issue and should be covered in the warranty why isn’t this covered.
The dashboard message at instrument cluster says " shift to park" and an audible warning alarm keeps on beeping. eventhough THe car shift lever is in Park. engine shut off. I'M very afraid that the car may move and hurt people or my self even though the shift lever is ON PARK. * yes, the car is available for inspection. * safety of others or my self at risk if the car moves. *Not inspected by dealer yet. not by police. not by insurance *Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? answer: Message is "shift to Park". Happened on May 8. 2023 several times every time the car is ON Park and engine shut down.
When you put the transmission into park, but the Driver info screen comes on and asks you to shift to park as your shutting the Traverse down. I did have it to my mechanic for an oil change and he checked the tranny cable and said it was ok. He had to like wiggle the shifter to get screen to clear. He said it may be electrical. I have a appointment at a transmission shop but it isn't for a couple weeks yet.
BACK BRACKET ON EXHAUST THAT IS WELDED ON HAS FAILED. THE WELD HAS FAILED CAUSING A HOLE IN THE EXHAUST. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT JUST 43K MILES. THERE IS ALREADY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE ON THE FRONT BRACKET ON THE 2019 CHEVY TRAVERSE.
Shift to park error message after shifting into Park. Required replacement of wire harness which dealer was aware. Seems to me that should be a recall item.
The backseat seatbelt is not working. When you insert the metal part of the seatbelt in the clip, it won’t clip. You have to push the button numerous times then it clicks. However, I’m not sure if it’s safe enough to trust since it’s faulty at the insert. Also, the passenger seatbelt is faulty. When seatbelt is on, the seatbelt stays in a lock position and doesn’t loosen, it stays tight although brakes weren’t applied, to promote it to lock. I can send a video ob both faulty seatbelts.
Shift indicator message comes on dash after engine shut off. When the warning lamp would trigger the switch with the shifter handle assembly would not message the body module of the action. A technical service bulletin recommended the shifter & electrical harness be replaced.
When I shift into park and try to turn car off, I get a warning message saying shift into park. It takes several retry attempts of up to 1 hour to get car computer to register it is in park. I can't leave car until it stops this for fear of it rolling as this did start rolling once already.
The vehicle has a bucking motion while accelerating from stop up to speeds in excess of 35 mph. The bucking only occurs while shifting. The cars RPMs drop during this bucking and the vehicle comes close to stalling. The vehicle has 42,000 miles on it and TASCA Woonsocket, RI dealership says there is service bulletin on it.
1.Shift to park issue, button on shifter has to be flicked a coupe time for sensor to realize it’s in park. 2. Speeds at 25mph then accelerating, transmission kicks. Transmission also whistles when cold.
THE SHIFT TO PARK ILLUMINATIONS COMES ON WHEN I STOP AND PUT THE SHIFT LEVER IN PARK POSITION. THIS APPEARED APPROXIMATELY 1 WEEK AGO FEBRUARY 10, 2023. IT IS STEADILY GETTING MORE FREQUENT.SOME TIMES THE CAR WILL NOT TURN OFF UNTIL IT IS BACKED UP SEVERAL TIMES AND THE WARNING GOES OFF .THE CAR IS SCHEDULED FOR REPAIR BEFORE FURTHER TRAVEL IS TAKEN.THE DEALERSHIP HAS STATED THAT IT NEEDS A NEW SHIFTING HARNESS.
Bought car 3 days ago . Everything was fine. Parked in parking spot at grocery store today and dash said “shift to park” even though shifter was in park. Jiggled it, warning went out. Got to work an hour later and it happened 3-4 times. This is very concerning ! I have two small children and when this happens I cannot lock my car or leave it.
My Traverse intermittently displays 'shift to park' message and I was not able to shut the SUV all the way off. I would have to play with the shift gear in order for it to turn off. I am under 50k miles.
Everytime I set my car to park it says shift to park, also whe I pull it all the way to the letter L it’s really stiff it doesn’t set.
When I put my 2019 Traverse in park, it gives a shift to park error message, even though it IS in park. I can't shut it off so I put the gear shift in drive and back to park a few times and the message would finally go away and let me shut it off. The problem is constant now. Very frustrating!! Now I'll have to take it to the dealer and hopefully they can fix it and without me having to take it in again to be fixed. And my warrant is expired now (42 months) so I'll have to pay for an expensive electrical fix. I've done some research and a lot of people are having this issue. Why hasn't there been a recall issued yet???
When I shift the vehicle from "gear" to "park" the electric system does not register that the car is in "park". I receive a message on the dash (Shift Vehicle to Park) when my vehicle is already in "park". If I try to get out of the car with the dash stating to (Shift Vehicle to Park) the horn starts to beep. I have to keep putting the car in and out of gear and eventually it will electronically realize the vehicle is in "park". Sometimes it takes one or two tries for it to turn off and I can exit my vehicle or it has taken me 10 minutes of continuing to put the car in and out of gear. This started a few weeks ago and has slowly gotten worse. My Traverse is currently at Chevrolet to get fixed and I was quoted $692 plus tax to repair the issue. I have googled this issue and found this same problem posted dating back to 2020 yet this still is not a recall 3 years later. When I called/ dropped off my Traverse at Chevrolet they knew exactly what was happening without me fully explaining. This is a known issue that they stated was a transmission emergency and I was offered a same day appointment vs. waiting for a normal appointment for two weeks.
3 major issues—1. The driver side seatbelt does not latch any more. This started happening 11/1/2022. 2. The "Shift to Park" message continues to appear while the car is in park. The vehicle at times will not shut off due to the message even thought it's actually in park. This has been happening for over a year without a fix and now we're over our 3 year warranty. 3. The car has 45 miles on it before it needed to refuel, however, it stalled and completed shut off in the middle of traffic causing a jam behind us! We had one of our toddlers in the car too which could have ended much worse. The car was towed to Chevy ($160 bill for us), and Chevy said it stalled and turned off because the fuel was empty even though it the dashboard said 45 miles on it.
This is a 8 seat SUV. The second row center seat belt is not working - will not latch. This is caused because the buckle is positioned between the 60/40 moving seats. When people are in the third row seating area and the second row seats move forward to exit it crushes the buckle. After repeated crushes it now does not operate. The second row center seat person can not keep the seat belt latched and is not restrained.
2019 chevy traverse check engine light came on then went off for a couple of weeks. The engine light came back on and I took it in to dealership. They found code p0420 which is fail code catalytic converter. They call me to shop an showed me a leak on pipe near a weld which was cracked no sign of someone causing damage to it just a cracked weld. This pipe was directly under the passenger and driver which could have been causing the gasses to leak into the vehicle. This carbon monoxide could cause safety risks to passengers. I contacted General motors about this issue and they investigated it but said it was not covered so I paid out of my pocket for the repair which cost $1600 .
Vehicle was in driveway at slight incline. Vehicle was able to be shut off while in drive and rolled backwards. No warning to shift to park
The car has continued issues with the “Shift to Park” defect that prevents drivers from shutting off and locking their vehicles. This keeps happening when the car is in park and for some reason doesn't read that it is. This a tremendous issue with this vehicle that GM should be covering because it's for multiple models and a huge safety concern. Customers should not be spending any money out of pocket for this safety concern that needs to be rectified by GM. Car currently at the dealer to get issue fixed to be told that this is a huge known issue that GM refuses to issue a recall on and that they have seen many vehicles come in and they have to replace the unit at the customers cost which is not fair. I've only had this vehicle for one year and no reason I should have had this many issues with this vehicle and such a big one that isn't covered.
When the car is in Park, it gives a shift to park error, even though it is in Park. It began about a week ago. I use to be able to wiggle the gear shift a bit and it would go away. Now the problem is constant. And you can’t just ignore it as it beeps and the lights stay on draining the battery.
On 10-31-2022 my Chevy app sent email that my vehicle was experiencing starter engine issues and that my vehicle could not start. Except my vehicle was starting and being driven at the time. Shortly after that my vehicle gave notification by dashboard that my steering assist was reduced and to drive carefully but I am not aware of having that feature or how it was reduced in the first place. On 11-1-2022 my vehicle was being reversed into parking and the camera view displayed the scene as if my course was clear but I was not and the vehicle collided with a pole. I’m not sure how this is even possible but I no longer feel this vehicle is safe for me and my family.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were flashing on and off. The vehicle restarted after approximately five minutes. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
My wife and I were t-boned in the front end of our 2019 Chevy Traverse. I am familiar with how airbags operate and the force necessary to activate the trigger switch. At the force we were hit, the airbags should have deployed. None of the airbags worked. The car that hit us was totaled. Their front end was completely demolished to the firewall and all airbags were deployed. Our car had $11,000 plus worth of front /side damage. Our bodies are recovering from injuries we should not have sustained if the airbags were functional. We will be contacting the dealer.
On our 2019 Chevy Traverse, the check engine light came on and off several times over the last couple of weeks. After filling up with gas, it would often take 4 to 5 times to get the engine to start as it would keep stalling out after starting. Additionally, on two separate occasions the car stalled out unexpectedly - once while turning onto a road out of a parking lot that almost caused us to get hit, and a second time while in a round-a-bout. The car was checked by a Chevy dealer and it was found that there was a bad purge valve creating this issue. This had previously been recalled on earlier model year Traverses, but not for 2019. It appears this is still an issue for this model year and should be addressed.
We bought the Chevy Traverse from Eagle Pass, Texas AutoWorld Dealership. We test drove the vehicle and made the car dealer aware that some of the seatbelts were not functioning and also that the breaks were making a screeching sound. The car dealer made notes and said he would have the seatbelts and brakes looked over at a later time. We. Still bought the vehicle and followed up with the dealership only to be told the car sales man no longer works there and that we would be charged a fee for having the seatbelts looked at totally disregarded the break issues. Now we have a newer vehicle but with faulty seatbelts and breaks.
This morning, the steering system went out on me, all of the sudden while driving down the road the steering stop working and was unable to control vehicle. Lights came on on the dash. Telling me that to be careful, going into safe mode problem with steering column. This was a very horrifying moment, as the truck was doing all over the place and was unable to take steering control. I was blessed to be alone on the street and manage to side park on the curve. I cannot image if this would happen in the freeway in high speed. Now I am afraid, this safety issue must be addressed by the chevy company/dealer as it is a safety issue and a high risk where lives can be lost!!!!
When shifting to park, the car indicates that the car has not shifted and has not engaged the parking break. The car remains on and has rolled back as a result. The dealership refuses to acknowledge the problem and it is endemic with General Motors vehicles across the family of brands.
The seatbelt buckle in the middle row jams and makes the seatbelt unusable. I took the vehicle to the dealer and was told I had to pay for this repair when this is clearly a safety issue that Chevrolet should take care of. There is a defect in the seatbelt buckles for this vehicle. When I first purchased it in July 2021 they had to replace one seatbelt buckle and now a second one stopped working.
When the car is idling and you place the car from drive to park, it gives you an error message "shift in park" and and will allow you to kill the engine but the alarm goes off. You don't know if the car is still in drive or still in park. There are two service bulletins on this. 19-NA-206 is one. GM knows there is a safety defect and should issue a recall for a car that can't tell you safely if it's in park or drive. my car is being worked on for this at Hendrick Chevrolet in Cary nc. happens multiple times a day.
Auto stop continually stops but delays to turn on. Service esc goes on and off even after being fixed. Several Mechanics have “fixed” this issue but it still happens. This is going to cause a serious accident.
I'm having problem when I turn my Traverse off it beeps at me and i get a message that says shift to park. I wiggle the gear shift until it stops. This has been going on for quite a while now.
When shifted to park and trying to turn off car light comes on saying vehicle needs to be in park. Additionally when stopped at a light when letting off of break and pushing on gas transmission will not in gauge for several seconds than goes and causes tires to peel out.
I get “shift to park” warning even when car is in park. I have to jiggle the gear shift In order for it to recognize it is in park.
Every time I put it in park the car will not turn off. I get a shift to park warning light and the car remains running. I was told at the dealership that it is frequent but GM will not recall it because they don’t want to replace the parts. I can’t get out of my car when I go places because it won’t turn off!
When placing into park , message coming displays place in park, after many attempts it shifts into park, but has rolled into roadway while in park.
The issue is that after driving the vehicle when it is shifted into park the transmission fails to recognize that it is in park and sends a message to the screen to shift into park. It appears to be related to a buildup of material on the contacts for the sensor. The situation can usually be overcome by wiggling the shifter until the contacts make a proper connection.
Vehicle has a shift to park error and doesn’t recognize when the car is in park so will not allow the vehicle to turn off.
BOTH REAR TOE LINKS WERE CORRODED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 38,000 MILES. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AS THE SERVICE TECH SAID HE HAD SEEN IT IN THE EQUINOX AS WELL. IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND INJURY BY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO VEER UNCONTROLLABLY DUE TO LOSS OF STEERING. THERE IS ALREADY A RECALL FOR SEVERAL GM VEHICLES. THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE THE 2019 TRAVERSE. THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TOE LINKS AND THE COST OF THE WHEEL ALIGNMENT THAT IS REQUIRED SHOULD BE COVERED. https://gmauthority.com/blog/2022/01/gm-expands-chevy-malibu-buick-regal-and-lacrosse-toe-link-recall/ https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2021/RCSB-21V633-9123.pdf
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while parking the vehicle, the gear shifter was shifted to park(P) however, a message to “Shift to park” was displayed. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to turn off. The contact stated that after several attempts the vehicle turned off. Additionally, the lock button had to be pressed several times before the vehicle responded. The vehicle was not diagnosed; however, an appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was contacted, and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was 43,550.
I was driving to take my daughter to school and my truck made a loud click noise and it sounded accelerated and it won’t go more then 10 miles per hour which almost made a car crash me . Also the pass anger seat belt does nit work properly
