I think it is crazy that my 2020 chevy trax doesnt have a temperature garage, there was a 2019 recall concerning leaking coolant, and I believe a recall on something dealing with the oil cap or component all of which I am having problems with. First in February of 2026 I was on a busy multiple lane express way and all of a sudden my coolant image warning light came on and indicated :engine overheating idle engine". No pre-warning or nothing , no temperature gauge to even see if the car was running hot. So I had to merge over 3 lanes at night on a busy highway in order to get off on the next exit. My issue was my coolant reservoir only had a spoon full of coolant all the coolant was gone. The shop told me my water pump was leaking and that was causing the coolant leak. This was repaired. A month later I have another coolant leak in a different spot and now I have oil leaking from somewhere. Firestone told me there is a oil cap or component recall but I can't find any recall on an oil component using my VIN numbers. This is so disappointing that I've only had this car for 4 years and 3 months and I'm having these issues related to recalls and complaints Ive seen from other owners.
I was driving my car and was at a stop sign and the vehicle started acting odd and it felt like it was lunging me forward. I was concerned that it was going to do it without my control and after that it almost sluggish and stalling until I could get it out of the intersection. Took it to a repair shop and the whole turbo unit needs to be replaced with 38,000 miles on it.
For coolant reservoir being made out of polypropylene materials that is resistant to expansion and cracking, the overflow line into my reservoir is severally cracked causing excessive leaking of coolant causing steam and engine overheating.
Driving on a main road on news year eve on my way home from work in a snow storm, my vehicle decides to only drive 9mph or less indicating that it has gone into limp mode. Unable to go up hills of any incline caused panic from the drivers around me. Luckily I was able to pull into a parking lot and sit and call for help. My vehicle was showing a code for the accelerator pedal position sensor indicating an issue with the voltage difference between the APP and the Throttle position sensor. The computer was able to be reset and my car then drove fine but the next day, it did it again. And without the scanner being plugged in the entire time, My car was not drivable.
Every winter because of the cold weather the tube for the turbo cracks and causes performance problems such as lack of throttle, sluggishness, limp mode activates. In limp mode the vehicle will only go about 10 miles per hour. This has happened on multiple occasions. In the warmer weather this problem does not arise. It is only in the winter time because the particular tube is made from plastic which breaks in cold weather.q
The manual parking brake system (hand lever) failed to adequately restrain the vehicle when fully engaged. The component is available for inspection upon request. My safety was put at risk because the vehicle failed to remain securely parked with the parking brake fully engaged. If parked on an incline, this defect creates a risk of the vehicle rolling and causing an accident. Additionally, a fully functional parking brake is a critical emergency braking backup system, which is compromised by this malfunction. I have not gotten to a dealer to get it checked yet. There was a warning light eventually. After a couple of times, I pushed on the accelerator once I realized the parking brake was on. I turned it off. It was only when I noticed it was a bit jankey when attempting to reverse is when i noticed it
The CarPlay no longer gives me accurate directions. The directional arrow drifts on the map and sends me everywhere except the direct route. I've tried using both Google and Apple maps to no avail.
My display screen that shows the speed, odometer intermittently stops working, preventing me from seeing anything on the screen.
Breaks lock down when driving. Had multiple things replaced and it still does it. Said they don’t know what could be still causing the problem.
When putting shell premium gas I noticed my cars Rmps is way lower than usually and my acceleration is a lot slower/delayed I never had this problem when I put regular and midgrade (plus) gas furthermore I noticed I got a weird B3935 error check code but I don’t think that’s related to the gas though
The coolant reservoir is missing hoses which are supposed to be connected. The head gasket is completely blown out, which is under warranty. Excessive overheating—three signs light up on the dashboard: red thermometer indicating an overheating engine; check engine light; and check engine light with arrow pointing downward indicating engine speed to be reduced. Trax stopped in the middle of the traffic light on and 7/26/25 and had it towed.
I got a code for the electronic brake control module, and my front brakes kept locking up. took it to the dealership and they kept telling me that it’s fine. My safety was put at risk when I was going 60 down the interstate and the brakes locked up. The service stabilitrak light came on too.
Canister purge valve
Turbo has failed twice causing loss of power and it is EXTREMELY dangerous on highway. As it takes considerable amount of time to reach highway speeds. And the risk for getting in an accident is VERY high. There shouldn't be a turbo replacement every 4 months. Considering each replacement at the dealership ~ $2000. I find it hard to fathom how the 2017-2018 Chevrolet Trax get special coverage up to 120,000 mi. for failed turbo chargers yet I have the same scenario for a 2020 Trax. But EVERYTHING is out of my pocket . I have a [XXX] son and would prefer not to tell his mom we were rear ended due to a sudden lose of power in a vehicle that is becoming completely unsafe. When driving my car around a 15 mile drive my car displays a Engine Overheating - Idle Engine message on my dash display and I go straight home to inspect the car and notice as shown in the photo I took the cap slowly after the car cooled down and I refilled it with antifreeze and close it and the hose/cable for the antifreeze was squeezing in antifreeze normally it would be out and took it for a little drive and someone from the outside of the car too see for any leaks it wasn’t leaking visibly it seems to be internal or a thermostat issue when driving for 5 minutes almost all of my antifreeze was drained this can be a safety issue especially if I kept driving as the engine would most likely stop to prevent engine could be especially harmful if I was on the turnpike or expressway
The Instrument panel that shows the Tire Pressure, Speed, Oil, Mileage etc. goes blank black then comes back on. Its been happening for a year and I did contacted Chevy about it. I waited for them to contact me back but they never did. I have taken it for the oil changes at the dealer but its usually on. I explain to the Chevy Dealer service about it over the phone, they told me it would cost a certain amount to fix and they needed to do a diagnosis first. This has been going on for 3 years (the turning blank on and off) while driving .

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from underneath the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the engine overheated. The engine temperature warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. Most recently, the vehicle was repossessed. The dealer made the manufacturer aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.
The dash screen behind the steering wheel (showing the speed/milege/trip info) randomly stops working. According to forums, this is a common issue with this make and model.
The touch screen on the front dashboard and the interior lights get so hot sometimes that you cannot touch them. Definitely an electrical issue causing both of those issues. Part of the air vent next to the touch screen has actually melted from the heat! Also, you cannot drive with the air conditioner on. The car gets no power at all. Just to go 30 mph, you have to go all the way up to almost 5 RPMs. The only way to cancel this out is to pull over, turn the car off and than back on (with no AC on). All summer long it has been doing this… possibly a transmission issue. I’ve personally only owned the vehicle for 2 yrs and the year of the car is a 2020, so there’s no reason it should be doing this. There is no exact date. It happens all the time, so I’ll just put the beginning of the spring
It wouldn't pass smog due to an air/fuel intake. Coded every time. This caused it to go into " low engine power" after the mechanic looked at it, he said the oil had gotten into the manifold, the tubes and the turbo which apparently is a design flaw, and now my turbo is on its last leg. which is going to cost thousands. I am told it will do the same thing after a a year or so and will have to repeat this process. I can't pass smog. There is too much air coming out, and you can't block the airflow. So basically, I will have to replace the turbo, and the manifold, we already put in an oil tank to divert it. If I had known this was going to happen, I wouldn't have purchased this vehicle. I need to travel and now I do not feel safe in this car. This issue should be on the recall list to repair for those unsuspecting customers. I am in the hole for the repairs that need to be done currently as well as 3 more years of paying this off.
Compré este carro en medio de una necesidad al dealer REAL TRUCKS AND CARS en buenas condiciones con 2000$ de downpayment y nunca me respondieron por la garantía del carro y encima tuve más de 2000$ en gastos y el día que decido cambiar el carro me llega la información de que ese carro tenía un título rebuild y dos choques fuertes en el pasado con daños en el chasis y el historial que me habían dado en el dealer estaba adulterado porque evidentemente no aparecía nada de lo detallado, posteriormente al reclamo, la persona que me lo vendió me amenazo con agredirme cuando se encontrara conmigo y se burló mío por el dinero que me quitó y lo que ganó él y todo lo que yo perdí… incluso quiero una compensación reclamando todo el dinero que le invertí al carro, el downpayment y daños y prejuicios causados…
Digital Display & information screen goes black, you can't see anything at all. I had an issue with my Trax not to long after I purchased it had to take it back to dealership told service manager about it, nothing was done about the display. With the display out you couldn't read any warnings at all not even temperature and blown my engine. My Trax didn't have regular gages. The dealership had free lifetime powertrain warranty, now they don't want to put a new engine it.
Repeatedly disply reduce engine warning, , stabiliTrak / traction warnings, loss of power while driving, and dashing board goes dark.
I was forced to sell my Jeep and buy a chevy trax at Friendly Chevrolet back in 2020 because supposdely there was a pandemic and the economy shut down. It has been giving me lots of problems. I have taken it to Friendly Chevrolet, Young Chevrolet and Lakeside Chevrolet several times since 2020 and they always say: leave it here, we cannot loan you a car, it will take 5-7 days to repair it. It jerks when I drive it, every time I get gas, the car doesn't start unless I push the speed pedal and drive. The worst and recent incident was 2 weeks ago when I was driving in [XXX] , and the car turned off completely as if they had turned off the light of your house, it blacked out. I stayed on the road and I could see my death nearby. The cars that were driving behind me almost killed me and a multiple fatality accident is almost caused. Fortunately, I'm fine and the others are fine because they managed to slow down their speed in time or dodge me to avoid a wreck. I took my car to Lakeside Chevrolet to get it serviced and this is what the advisor told me: it will take 5-7 days to get your car ONLY diagnosed and it will cost you more than $200 for this step. I begged for a car loaner and he said that the owner of the dealership doesn't have money to give me one. He also mentioned that because the pandemic, he had to spend money from his savings to get his business-dealership going. My car is still there and they called me last friday to tell me that they cannot fix my car because Global Company is out of miles range. They told me that is was safe to drive my car to Friendly Chevrolet and take it there to get it fixed. I called Friendly Chevrolet and they said they cannot bring my car to them because they do not pay for towing. (What kind of stupid person they think I am to tell me to drive a unsafe car from Rockwall to Dallas?) These dealerships are not helping me, they are just [XXX]! I do not have money!!! At 20,000 miles I was doing 70 which was the speed limit the engine light came on and flashed and put itself into limp mode it acted fine once the car was turned off and back on the dealer hooked a scanner up and said nothing but the electronic port was wrong which the charging port wouldn’t work half the time. At 149000 miles the water pump went out as soon as I paid it off due to Chevy dealer avoiding warranty work causing it to over heat and blow a head gasket.
Stabilitrak keeps coming on along with 3 other warning lights. I lose speed driving is off and it's hard to maneuver. Had 3 tests ran no response lights went off. then back on on a consistency that is getting annoying and now 3 shops can't diagnosis whats wrong. I don't have thousands to send to dealership for what was supposed to be a brand new car and this is driving like it's a 25 year old car. I think you need to check that a majority of your trax 2020 customers are also experiencing the same and this issue needs to be a recall. especially since mechanics can't diagnos this.
My 2020 Chevy Trax did not deploy the air bags, at all, when hit cement wall head on. The impact to my chest area caused a wire from a chest surgery to snap, and is now dangling inside the middle of my chest, near my heart. I have the pictures & the witness was a Sheriff. It make no sense that none of the air bags deployed. NONE. I want to report it as will be pursuing, and to make sure others know that this is an issue that can cause bodily harm and there are no recalls on these cars. That's scary. No idea now what I must go thru due to this injury which never should've happened.
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving and making turns, the steering wheel had to be turned to the intended direction completely for the vehicle to turn as needed. The contact also stated that while driving and depressing the brake pedal to come to a complete stop, the vehicle failed to respond as intended, causing the braking distance to be extended. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the front passenger's side lower control arm had failed due to defective factory assembly. The dealer replaced the lower control arm, and the vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the A/C system was inoperable, and the infotainment system screen was significantly hot and turned off intermittently while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the A/C system motor was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact was advised that the A/C system motor was not the cause of the failure, and the contact was referred to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
On Oct 08, 2024 Milan Tire and Brake replace wiper motor part. Since then the wiper motor part only works for about 2 months . They replace it going on 3 times . Just went out yesterday again. On January 29, 2025 Milan tire and brake and Brake replace wiper transmission .
I am not sure of what actual component(s) failed, but I do know that a brake line that had braided steel broke and spewed brake fluid failed- this line comes off the master cylinder to ABS module. Mechanic attempted replacement and there is still no pressure in the brake line. Mechanic believes it is the brake booster now that caused the line failure to occur. The vehicle and components are available for inspection. What happened was that when I was driving on a city road at 35 MPH, a vehicle in front of me was driving reckless and when I changed lanes I approached a traffic signal that changed to yellow and when I went to slow i felt a pop in the brake pedal and the pedal went all the way to the floor and i was unable to stop when the light changed to red and rolled through the intersection. I was able to finally stop approximately 300 feet after applying the brakes. There were no warning indicators or lamps that illuminated prior to this occurring and as a result of the brake failure a collision was narrowly avoided.
Brakes have been known to fail. I have to press brake serval times to gain brake control

The contact removed her foot off the brake pedal and the vehicle rolled backwards. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the vehicle was purchased; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer again. The contact was informed that the vehicle was taken to the Chevrolet dealer for a diagnostic test. The contact was informed that the failure was not duplicated. In addition, the contact was informed that it was normal for the vehicle to roll backward when the brake pedal was released. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure had started seven days after the vehicle was purchased. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,900.
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that the instrument panel would suddenly blackout for approximately 15 - 25 minutes before returning to normal operation. The failure occurred intermittently while driving or the vehicle was idling. The dealer was contacted but the vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,000.
My vehicle lost all its antifreeze. It was the day before filled to the proper level in the overflow container. The IDLE ENGINE ALERT CAME ON. When I opened the hood, no antifreeze coolant in my square overflow bottle. My vehicle has 58, 000 miles approximately on it. I purchased at Autolenders in Turnersville, NJ at approximately 32,000 miles on it. When purchased Autolenders replaced the air conditioning unit & they replaced a radiator because I smelled antifreeze. My concern is related to the 2015-2019 recall by the NHTSA. Repair of my vehicle may be over $3,000 estimated. I need your assistance.
1 problem happen several times last year 2024 my radiator fan stay on for long time after the car was turn off it should shutoff after 15 min but it stay on when I try to start my car the battery is dead, So I took to Carroll Chevrolet and they look at the car couldn't find any problem no light can on the dash board, No indicator light can on, So they told me there was nothing wrong, When the battery is dead no indicator light come on the dash to indicate that there is a problem, This happen at least 7 times last year during the Summer Months, So what I have to do is disconnect the battery and when I ready too get back in my car I have to re hook up the battery so I can start my car. I shouldn't have to do this. No invoice
I was driving to the post office and it was raining heavily so i turn on my wiper blades however after a couple minutes of doing so I saw my MICHELIN wiper blade silicone pealing off I was about to stop the blades but the Michelin blade broke in half and got blew away by wind if i was driving at night and the rain was more heavy and both blades were the same model I probably would’ve have crashed
The driver information center in the cluster intermittently goes completely black or glitches while driving. It will go into all white dots, completely black out, or be garbled. You lose the ability to monitor your speed digitally and it causes issues with safety because it will change in and out at random times and you are forced to change your attention to the needle instead of focusing on the road. No warning lamps or trouble codes present. I have not contacted the manufacturer but have had a mechanic inspect it and he cannot find a cause but thinks possibly is an electric short or fault module. This began happening in June 2024 and is now getting worse and very unreliable.
The driver information center in the cluster intermittently goes completely black or glitches while driving. This is a safety concern because it is distracting while driving and removes important trip and vehicle information. I paid $222.79 for the dealership to inspect and they were not able to recreate the issue. They stated that the entire cluster would need to be replaced. I called GM to report the problem, but received no further options. After some research I found many posts online from others having the same issue with their 2020 Chevy Trax. I also saw that the 2024 Chevy Trax was recalled for the same issue stating it is a safety concern. My car is available for inspection upon request.
June 2024 all dashboard lights flickered on then went off, radio wouldn't turn on so dealership replaced the instrument cluster. Last night had to jump car off, the battery and alternator checked out fine. However, the radio/back up camera didn't come back on. This is the only car I have and now in the shop 2 tines in 6 months for the same thing.
The service stabilitrak and service powersteering will come up. Have had vehicle hooked up to computer multiple times no codes. The vehicle would not drive. The vehicle has started shaking. The engine light comes on. There is 30k miles on the vehicle. I bought this 3 months ago to have a safe vehicle. My spouse and I are disabled and we do not feel secure. I googled and it says probably a computer error from factory. I'd appreciate if I can get my vehicle recalled & fixed. Thank you
The digital cluster went out I see that the 2024 model has been recalled for the same issue Why isn’t the 2020 models also included just had the car in the Hutch Chevy service department and was quoted $665.00 to replace, I am unable to see the speed I am going or any menu items because the digital readout isn’t showing.

The contact stated that the smoke came into the interior through the vents. The contact stopped the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power and the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that immediately after exiting the vehicle, the vehicle was in flames. The Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The vehicle was condemned total loss. The contact did not sustain any injuries. A Police report was filed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and an inspection was completed. The contact was informed that the failure was not a manufacturer defect. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
TURBO Charger Internal Failure. It is available for inspection upon request. It put my Turo driver at risk of being stuck in the middle of no where. The vehicle has been inspected by Hennessy Mazda, Buick, GMC Certified Mechanic at the dealership. It was also inspected by Turo Specialist. The check engine light came on.
I was driving to My college from my home and around 3.8mi on my route when I heard a loud sound from my car I also noticed the vehicle was unstable so I went to the nearest gas station at Westar to put in a spare I had in my car the Yokohama tire was P 205/ 70R16 96H I never got it inspected by anyone and I did get a warning 0 psi low tire please add air to your tire and a Service Tire Monitor System after I installed the spare and I never contacted the dealer or service center regarding the problem my tire is available for inspection if needed and my safety could've been at risk or others due to me driving at a high traffic route
This vehicle currently had 48,568 miles at time of repair. Windshield wipers were not working properly. Had the issue diagnosed at RD Banks Chevrolet in Champion, Oh. They determined it to be a windshield wiper motor. Seems too soon to have to replace. It did however, correct the situation.
Hello So recently just after an oil change my cars check engine came on. I check with the app, it stated both a stabli-track issue and an emission. Which those 2 things don't connect in any way I know, they are 2 different systems. Then I went to a local auto parts store, AutoZone. We check the engine code and it was an emissions issue. It was my vapor canister purge valve malfunction. The other thing that this issue cause a rough start when you 1st the car in the morning. That sometimes it causes the stabli-track alert on the dashboard to come on, for a couple of moments. The reason Im contacting you about this. Is because that the app is telling the customer me that there is 2 issues that specific issue comes on and that if no fix right away. The rough start up will cause the stabli track alert to come on. Even though it is not a stabli-track issue.
Vehicle hesitates upon accelerating. Have had it at dealership/ mechanics 4 times for the same problem without a solution. Has created numerous unsafe situations when it does not accelerate as expected when pulling out in traffic.
THE DASHBOARD GOES IN AND OUT WITH THE SCREEN, CAN'T SEE MILEAGE, SPEED, OR ETC CONTROL PANEL. THE SEAT BELT CAME UNLATCHED IN THE PROCESS OF SLOWING DOWN, PERSON WAS SLAMMED INTO THE DASH. NERVOUS TO DRIVE THE CAR WITH SEATBELT DELATCHING NO MESSAGE DUE TO THE DASH BEING OUT, AND NO ALERTS THROUGH ON STAR. DASH LIGHTS GOING OUT FOR ABOUT A MONTH, SEATBELT INCIDENT HAPPENED TWO DAYS AGO, STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE PASSENGER-SIDE FRONT SEAT BELT. CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP CANT BE SEEN FOR TWO WEEKS
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet TRAX. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel independently turned to the right and seized. The contact's vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was uncontrollable. The contact stated that the failure occurred in a residential neighborhood. The contact's vehicle was damaged to the front passenger's side fender area. The parked vehicle was damaged to the driver's side fender area. The contact stated that she bumped her head during the crash, however did not seek medical treatment. No Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, however the failure was not duplicated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The manufacturer ordered an investigation and determined the failure was not due to a manufacturer defect. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.
The initial problem was a defective shifter. It took over a month for a Chevrolet service department to get the vehicle in and fix the problem. By the time I brought the vehicle in to fix the shifter, the transmission was hesitating to switch gears, jerking at highway speeds and overall failing to shift and accelerate properly. This high speed jerk causes the seatbelt to lock up and hit my chest-causing pain while driving. This defect has caused pain, soreness and stiffness in my chest and neck. Dealership 1 (coggin Buick gmc of orange park- Jacksonville,fl) was notified upon drop off and did not fix the transmission issue. They claimed the only issue they found was the shifter. Dealership 2(Gordon Chevrolet- orange park fl) has made 3 attempts to locate and repair the problem and were “unable to duplicate the concern ” I have additional documentation from dealer 3(carmax Jacksonville west-Jacksonville, fl) where they have duplicated the concern 3 times on a 1 hour test drive. Chevrolet/General Motors are not taking accountability despite the vehicle still being under warranty.
