Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2005 Chrysler 300C. The contact stated that while attempting to register the vehicle, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 105,000 and at the time of registration, it was discovered that in 2021 the mileage was 144,000.
The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light would remain illuminated. Occasionally the lights on the dashboard and inside the vehicle would randomly blink off and on. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. During the diagnostic test, the electrical fuses continued to malfunction. No further information was available. The manufacturer was not yet notified. The failure mileage was 137,000.
II OWN A 2005 300C WITH 1001,500 MILES. I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR RUNNING OUT OF GAS WHEN THE GAGE WAS STILL SHOWING GAS IN THE TANK WILE DRIVING IN CITY STREETS, AND ONCE IN HIGHWAY. LUCKILY I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE. I COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER IN TWO OCCASIONS OF THIS OCCURRENCE. FINALLY THE TANK WAS REPLACED AROUND 2014. AFTER THAT, I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS COMPLAINING THAT AFTER FILLING MY TANK WITH GAS THERE WAS A STRONG SMELL OF FUEL. THEY KEEP TELLING ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. FINALLY IN OCTOBER 2019. I TOOK CAR BACK AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS A CRACK ON THE AT TOP OF FUEL TANK PUMP HOUSING R/H, AND GAS WAS LEAKING FROM THE ATTACHING RING AND THE RUBBER HOSE AND ACCUMULATING ON SOME CAVITIES AT TOP OF PUMP. THE DEALER QUOTED ME ABOUT A THOUSAND DOLLAR FOR THE JOB, AND NEEDED KEEP MY CAR FOR 3 DAYS. I GOT A SECOND OPINION AND WAS TOLD THIS HAS BEING HAPPENING FOR A LONG TIME. I EVENTUALLY HAD THE CAR REPAIRED AT THE SECOND LOCATION FOR LESS THAN $450 DOLLAR INCLUDING PARTS, AND THE WAS CAR FIXED IN 4 HOURS NOT 3 DAYS AND A THOUSAND DOLLARS. ALSO! I HAD AN INCIDENT WERE THE FACTORY BATTERY IN THE CAR EXPLODED IN THE TRUNK OF THE CAR WILE I WAS DRIVING. APPROXIMATELY 2011.
THE SHIFT WON'T WORK IT'S STUCK ON PARK AND I SAW THE K39 NOTIFICATION WHICH KIND OF EXPLAINS WHAT HAPPENED AND WE HAVE ALREADY TRIED TO UNLOCK IT WITH THE PINK BUTTON AND THE CAR TURN ON GOOD AND EVERYTHING.

LITHIA CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM FIAT OF SANTA FE (4470 CERRILLOS RD, SANTA FE, NM 87507, (505) 629-0746) STATED THAT THERE APPEARED TO BE AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE AND WERE CHECKING ALL THE WIRING ON THE HARNESS WITH MULTIPLE CODES APPEARING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
THE MAIN GROUNDING WIRE PASSENGER-SIDE ENGINE BLOCK CONTACT POINT HAD CORROSION(RUST) LIMITING ELECTRICAL CURRENT FLOW TO THE WIRING HARNESS. THIS CAUSED TOO MUCH CURRENT TO FLOW TO 2 SMALLER 16 GAUGE GROUNDING WIRES ATTACHED TO THE REAR OF EACH HEMI CYLINDER HEAD TO FRY. THIS DIRECTLY AFFECTS THE CCN BUS COMMUNICATIONS TO THE CPU. ANY DEVICE, MODULE, OR SENSOR ATTACHED TO THE CCN BUS CAN HAVE INTERMITTENT BEHAVIOR. EXAMPLES OF VERY BAD BEHAVIOR IN MY CAR: 1. THE ALARM RANDOMLY GOING OFF WHILE PARKED OR WHEN DRIVING THE CAR. 2. WHILE PARKED AND THE ALARM SET THE SUNROOF DECIDED TO OPEN UP DURING A RAINSTORM FILLING MY CAR WITH 3 INCHES OF RAIN. 3. THE 300C DOESN'T USE A THROTTLE CABLE. IT UTILIZES A THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR THAT COMMUNICATES WITH THE CPU OVER THE CCN BUS. JUST TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL WAS THE SAME AS PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. IT'S A GOOD THING THAT WHEN THIS HAPPENED TO ME THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC ON THE ROAD AND I WAS CLOSE TO HOME. SINCE THIS IS CCN 2-WIRE TWISTED PAIR BUS COMMUNICATION ISSUE ANYTHING THAT COMMUNICATES WITH THE CPU CAN HAVE A RANDOM INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. SINCE THESE CARS ARE GETTING OLDER I HAVE TO THINK THAT THERE ARE OTHER CARS THAT ARE OR WILL HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES. PRAY TO GOD THAT YOUR THROTTLE DOESN'T STICK WIDE OPEN LIKE MINE DID. I HAD TO KEEP MY FOOT BURIED ON THE BRAKE WHILE I WAS SCREAMING DOWN THE ROAD UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION. HAVE FUN COMING TO A STOP OR DRIVING HOME AFTER THAT HAPPENS. FORMALLY I WAS AN I2C BUS COMMUNICATIONS(2 WIRE BUS) EXPERT AT BOTH INTEL CORP AND CISCO SYSTEMS. I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. TODAY I TALKED WITH A BREMERTON CHRYSLER/DODGE/JEEP TECHNICAL SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. BOTTOM-LINE OVER $3000 TO FIX. THERE MAY HAVE BEEN SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE THAT IS DEAD BECAUSE OF THIS FACTORY DEFECT AND NO ONE IS THE WISER. WHY NOT A FACTORY RECALL ISSUE?

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER SWITCH TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DOORS ONLY WORKED TO UNLOCK THE FRONT DOORS. ADDITIONALLY, THE KEY FOB ONLY UNLOCKED THE FRONT AND NOT THE REAR DOORS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED TO FUNCTION AS DESIGNED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000.
VEHICLE HAD A DELAYED START. WHILE IN MOTION THE CAR WOULD DEACCELERATE, SLOW DOWN, AND MISFIRE. THE ESP/ABS INDICATOR LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND AN ALERT WOULD CONTINUE TO SOUND UNTIL THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF. THE CAR MAY OR MAY NOT START AND WHEN STARTED IT CONTINUES TO ALERT THE NEXT DAY. THE CAR CONTINUES TO MISFIRE AND DRIVING OVER 30 MPH IS UNSAFE. THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN TO A MECHANIC SEVERAL TIMES BUT HAS NEVER BEEN PROPERLY FIXED.

COMMENTS THE DASH LIGHTS AND THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKER OFF AND ON AT NIGHT. THEY COME ON IN THE OFF POSITION AND TURN OFF IN THE ON POSITION. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ALMOST A YEAR. I HAVE NOT HAD IT CHECKED OUT FOR FEAR THAT IT WILL BE COSTLY. ANYONE HAVE SUGGESTIONS ON A RESOLUTION? DASH, INTERIOR LIGHTS, DOOR LOCKS, AND TRUNK. DON'T WORK TROUBLE LIGHTS ALL FLASH THEN HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS GO OUT. I TURN THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH FROM "AUTO" TO "MANUAL" AND THE HEADLIGHTS COME BACK ON. DASH LIGHTS CONTINUE TO FLICKER INTERMITTENTLY BUT AT LEAST I CAN DRIVE IT - AFRAID THIS SWITCH TRICK WILL QUIT WORKING ONE NIGHT WHILE I'M ON AN UNLIT COUNTRY ROAD! 2005 CHRYSLER 300 189,000 MI, THE DASH LIGHTS AND THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKER OFF AND ON AT NIGHT. THEY COME ON IN THE OFF POSITION AND TURN OFF IN THE ON POSITION. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ALMOST A YEAR. ON GOING ISSUE...CONCERN THAT THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE TO MYSELF AND THE PUBLIC.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED A REPLACEMENT KEY FOB, WHICH ALSO FAILED TO UNLOCK THE DOORS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT POURED WATER TO STOP THE SMOKE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL OTHER TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THAT MADE NO SENSE AS THERE HAD TO BE A REASON FOR THIS. WAS FINALLY DIAGNOSED AS OIL SLUDGE AND ENGINE WAS DESTROYED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, BECAUSE IT CAUSED THE LIGHTS TO BE ON FOR SO LONG, I NOW NEED TO HAVE THE COMPUTER REPLACED THAT CONTROLS THE SENSORS FOR THOSE.
TAKATA RECALL- MY ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL SHUT MY ENGINE DOWN WHILE ON THE EXPRESS WAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THE GAS PEDAL WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE THE CAR. I HAD TO TRY TO GET OVER AND PUT MY HAZARDZ ON. I COULDVE DIED AND IT WAS NIGHT TIME. THIS PART SHOULD BE RECALLED.
