The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler 300. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH the ABS and traction control warning lights illuminated. The warning lights remained constantly illuminated whenever the vehicle was started. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the ABS module needed to be reprogramed. The independent mechanic informed the contact that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 06V493000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,200.
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. WE GOT INTO THE VEHICLE TO DRIVE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF "PARK". AFTER DOING RESEARCH, AND LEARNING IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE PARK RELEASE BUTTON, WE WERE ABLE TO MANUALLY GET THE CAR INTO "DRIVE". THIS WAS NECESSARY BECAUSE WE WERE PARKED AT THE ER OF A HOSPITAL. SINCE WE COULDN'T PUT THE CAR IN "PARK" AND WE WEREN'T ABLE TO GET IT TO A MECHANIC RIGHT AWAY, WE WOULD PUT IT IN "NEUTRAL" AND USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE PROBLEM IS THE EMERGENCY BRAKE STARTED FAILING, WHICH SEEMS ODD SINCE IT WAS ONLY USED A FEW TIMES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHRYSLER 300. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MOORE CHRYSLER JEEP IN PEORIA, ARIZONA 85382, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A PLUG BECAME DETACHED FROM THE FRONT ABS, WHICH CAUSED ALL OF THE BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE HYDRAULIC PUMP WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ABS, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, AND THE BRAKE WARNING LAMPS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. I JUST PURCHASED MY CAR IN LATE APRIL IT IS NOW NOVEMBER. I DIDN'T NOTICE THE BRAKE PROBLEM WHICH IS A VIBRATION WHEN I CAME TO A STOP, UNTIL A WEEK AFTER. I FIGURED I PROBABLY NEED NEW BRAKE PADS. ONE OF MY LEAST CONCERNS. BUT LAST MONTH I BEGAN TO SMELL GAS. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST THE OTHER VEHICLES AROUND ME OR THE LOCATION I WAS AT. I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND THERE'S WAS NO LEAK. I KEPT DOING THIS WHEN I SMELLED GAS AND NOTHING. LAST NIGHT NOVEMBER 6 2011, I FILLED UP MY TANK TO GO OUT OF TOWN. WHEN I WAS LEAVING TO GO BACK HOME FROM THE LONG RIDE, THE PARKING AREA SMELLED LIKE GAS! IT WAS LEAKING FROM MY CAR! ABOUT A QUARTER OF GAS LEAKED. THIS TIME I SAW A PUDDLE ON THE GROUND WHERE THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE WOULD BE. NOT ONLY WAS THIS EMBARRASSING BUT I HAD MY WIFE AND CHILD WITH ME IN THE CAR THAT I HAD TO TAKE HOME SMELLING THIS AS WELL AS TAKING THE RISK OF BLOWING UP! I PURCHASED A CHRYSLER 300 ON 11/19/09. I HAD AN ACCIDENT ON 12/10/09. I HAVE LEARNED SINCE THE ACCIDENT, THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS MODEL CONCERNING THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. SINCE WE PURCHASED USED, I DON'T KNOW IF THIS WAS EVER CORRECTED ON OUR VEHICLE. THE ABS LIGHTS STAYS ON AND MECHANICS SAYS IT IS NOT DANGEROUS, JUST THE CRUISE WANT WORK. WE HAVE CARRIED THIS CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND SPENT OVER $2,000. ON REPAIRS AND NOW THEY TELL US IT CAN'T BE FIXED AND WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR EVEN THOUGH THEY SAY IT IS O.K. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE ROTORS AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED WHO STATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHRYSLER 300 AWD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, THE BRAKES SUDDENLY LOCKED WITHOUT WARNING DURING APPLICATION. THE CONTACT VEERED TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID ANOTHER VEHICLE AND IMMEDIATELY ENGAGED THE BRAKES REPEATEDLY BEFORE THE BRAKES BEGAN TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TWICE FOR THE SIMILAR FAILURE AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS RECENTLY TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE ABS CONTROL MODULE. THE MECHANIC ALSO DISCOVERED A RECALL RELATED TO THE DEFECT UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V493000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: ANTILOCK: CONTROL UNIT/MODULE). THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,200.
