CAR SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, THERE WAS A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE, TURNED BACK ON AFTER A FEW MINUTES,GAS CAP LIGHT CAME ON, WENT TO AUTOZONE TO RUN SCANNER AND GOT CODE P0440, CHECKED ALL EVAP COMPONENTS AND LINES AND NOTICED SOMETHING LOOSE ON TOP OF FUEL TANK, ROLLOVER VALVE POPPED OFF AND THERE WAS FUEL ALL AROUND IT... I'M LUCKY THERE WERE NO SPARKS FROM ANYTHING,HAD A FULL TANK!
CAR DIES RIGHT AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED, IDLING AWAY FROM THE GAS PUMP, OR STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT. LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED, I WAS ALMOST HIT IN THE REAR AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WHEN THE CAR STALLED. LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY PART THAT IS MOLDED INTO THE 19 GALLON FUEL TANK BUT SAID MY CAR WASN'T COVERED. MY MECHANIC VERIFIED THAT THE "ROLLOVER" VALVE IN THE TANK WAS INDEED FAULTY. HAVE TALKED TO CHRYSLER TWICE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY HAVE FLATLY REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE EVEN THOUGH THEY AGREED THAT MY CAR HAS A 19 GALLON TANK. I KNOW THAT CHRYSLER HAS ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE OVER 150K OF THESE FAULTY TANKS. MINE IS FAULTY ALSO BUT THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING. THIS IS A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAVE PARKED THE CAR FOR NOW OUT OF CONCERN FOR SAFETY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WITHNELL DODGE (2650 COMMERCIAL ST SE, SALEM, OR 97302 (877) 303-1959) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK MALFUNCTIONED. A PART WITHIN THE FUEL TANK NEEDED REPLACEMENT ALONG WITH THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE 2005 AND 2006 CHRYSLER 300 HAD A RECALL FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000. *TT UPDATED 9/19/18*JB
VEHICLE DIES WHILE DRIVING AND WILE COMING TO A STOP IN TOWN. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. NO CODES - TOOK IT IN TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND THEY DIAGNOSED A BAD FUEL TANK. THE INLET FLAPPER ON THE FUEL TANK IS DEFECTIVE ALLOWING FUEL TO OVERFLOW THE CHARCOAL CANISTER. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE 2005-2006 MODELS THAT NOW COME WITH A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON FUEL TANKS. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO WORK WITH ME TO REPLACE IT OR CONSUME SOME OF THE COSTS, AND IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IT HAS DIES OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION OVER 10 TIMES AND WONT ALWAYS RE-START. SOMETIMES IT TAKES 5-10 MINUTES, AND OTHER TIMES IT STARTS RIGHT BACK UP. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN AND THE CAR STALLED OUT AND I ALMOST HIT THE VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT OF ME. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE INCLUDED IN THE LIFETIME WARRANTY ISSUED TO 2005/2006 MODELS.

THE TOWING COMPANY NOTICED AN EXTENSIVE LEAK AND PARKED THE VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION FROM THE STATE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE FUEL LEAK FUMES BEING A HAZARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SECOND DEALER AND THEY DID NOT DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND KEPT THERE FOR WEEKS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING ON AN URBAN STREET AT 30 MILES PER HOUR THE CAR LOST POWER, AND THEN ACCELERATED, AND THEN FAILED COMPLETELY. IT WOULD NOT START, BUT AFTER WAITING A SHORT TIME, IT DID START. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER 2 SENSORS, ASSOCIATED WITH THE THROTTLE CONTROL MODULE, WERE REPLACED. TEN MONTHS LATER IT RECURRED - WAS "FIXED" , AND NOW IT HAS OCCURRED FOR THE THIRD TIME.

MY CAR CUTS OFF VERY FREQUENTLY WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW. WE READ THAT IT COULD BE THE FUEL SENSOR BUT I CAN HAVE A FULL TANK OF GAS OR HALF TANK AND IT STILL CUTS OFF. IT HAS CUT OFF AT THE RED LIGHT, GREEN LIGHT WHILE CROSSING THE INTERSECTION, GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY ETC. WE HAVE BROUGHT IN TO PLACES BUT THEY CANNOT FIND WHAT'S CAUSING IT TO SHUT OFF. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT FROM DRIVE TIME AND IT'S STILL UNDER WARRANTY SO WE ASKED DRIVE TIME TO ALLOW US TO BRING IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP BUT THEY REFUSED AND SAID THEIR SHOPS SHOULD BE SUFFICIENT. I WAS TRAVELING NORTH ON I-95 AT 70 MPH IN SOUTH CAROLINA. FUEL GAUGE INDICATED 1/4 TANK OF GAS AND OVER 100 MILES TO EMPTY. THE OBD LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR SLOWED DOWN (5-10 MPH). I WAS ABLE TO ROLL IT OFF THE ROAD ONTO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. GAS GAUGE INDICATED A 1/4 TANK OF FUEL. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND SAT FOR15 MINUTES. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE, IT ACTED AS THOUGH IT HAD NO GAS. HOWEVER, THE GAUGE SHOWED A 1/4 TANK FULL. VEHICLE WAS TOWED (AAA) TO AN EXXON STATION IN GABLE, SC. FUEL WAS ADDED TO THE TANK AND THE CAR COULD BE STARTED. THE ADDITION OF $25.00 OF FUEL (6 GALLONS?) DID NOT MOVE THE GAUGE FROM THE 1/4 TANK LEVEL. AN ADDITIONAL $25 FUELING BROUGHT THE GAUGE ALMOST UP TO FULL. I DROVE IT ROUGHLY 500 MILES FROM SC TO MD WITHOUT INCIDENT. HOWEVER, I DID NOT ALLOW FUEL LEVEL TO DROP BELOW 1/2.
2007 CHRYSLER 300 WITH 43,684. PROBLEM FUEL CAP LEAKING. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP GALENA CHRYSLER WOULD NOT PAY FOR REPAIR. CALL CHRYSLER HEADQUARTERS(REF# 19582516) SAID NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON I TOOK IT TO GALENA CHRYSLER IN FORT MYERS FL. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ONE YEAR AGO TO THE DAY, SAME DEALERSHIP, SAID NOTHING WRONG. I THINK FUEL AND VAPORS HAVE BEEN LEAKING FOR OVER A YEAR WITH THIS CAR. I FEEL THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO. I KNOW IT MUST BE A PROBLEM, BECAUSE NO ONE FROM CHRYSLER HEADQUARTERS CALLED ME BACK OR EMAIL.
