I CAME OUTSIDE TO FIND THAT THE REAR WINDOW OF THE CONVERTIBLE TOP HAD COME LOOSE AND WAS LAYING ON THE REAR DECK BEING HELD TO THE FABRIC IN 1 SMALL PLACE. THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED OUTSIDE FOR 1 DAY. LUCKILY IT DIDN'T FALL OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING, POTENTIALLY SHATTERING THE GLASS NEAR MY HEAD. UNTIL THE CAR IS REPAIRED IT IS UNUSABLE IN FOUL WEATHER DUE TO WATER RUNNING IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR WINDOW SEPARATED FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
REAR GLASS HAS SEPARATED FROM CONVERTIBLE TOP FOR NO APPARENT REASON.
THE GLASS REAR WINDOW HAS COME UNGLUED FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. CHRYSLER WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THIS DEFECT EVEN THOUGH IT IS WIDELY REPORTED, UNLESS THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD IN ONE OF 7 SOUTHERN STATES. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A DEFECTIVE GLUE PROBLEM AND THEY SHOULD STAND BEHIND IT. OWNERS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND ALTHOUGH IT MIGHT BE MORE PREVALENT IN THE SOUTH, IT STILL HAPPENS ON NORTHERN CARS. CHRYSLER, STOP THIS RIDICULOUS PETTINESS AND FIX THESE CARS!
MY CAR IS GARAGE KEPT. I WENT TO VISIT A FAMILY MEMBER AND THE NEXT MORNING WALKED OUTSIDE, GOT IN MY CAR, STARTED TO DRIVE OFF ABOUT 0.1 MILE AWAY NOTICED MY BACK WINDOW SHAKING. I LOOKED BACK AND NOTICED MY BACK WINDOW HAD BECOME UNGLUED ON THE LEFT SIDE, RIGHT SIDE AND BOTTOM. IT WAS STILL HANGING ON AT THE TOP BY ONLY A LITTLE GLUE. I AM BLESSED THAT I WAS NOT DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY OR AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND THE WINDOW BECOME TOTALLY UNGLUED. I HAD TO PLACE TOWELS IN THE WINDOW TO GET THE WINDOW TO SIT UP IN ORDER FOR ME TO DRIVE ONE HOUR HOME. I AM NOT ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE OF THIS AND CALLED FOUR DEALERSHIPS AND TWO UPHOLSTERY PLACES TO FIND OUT IF THEY CAN REPAIR THIS AND IF IS UNDER WARRANTY. TWO UPHOLSTERY PLACES GOT BACK TO ME, ONE QUOTED $120 FOR A TEMP FIX THAT HE CANNOT GUARANTEE WILL LAST OR REPLACING THE WHOLE ROOF FOR ABOUT $1800-$1900. ANOTHER UPHOLSTERY PLACE GOT BACK TO ME, $395-$500 FOR A TEMP FIX NOT GUARANTEEING IT AND IF IT DOES NOT HOLD UP HE WOULD CREDIT ME 80% OF WHAT I PAID TOWARDS HIM REPLACING MY ROOF FOR $2,400-$2,500. ONE DEALERSHIP GOT BACK TO ME AND KNOWS ABOUT THE ISSUE, LOOKED UP MY VIN AND MY CAR WAS NOT MADE IN A STATE THAT CHRYSLER COVERED UNDER THE SERVICE BULLETIN AND RECOMMENDS REPLACING IT WITH THE PART THAT CHRYSLER ASSIGNED TO THE SERVICE BULLETIN SO IT WOULD COST LESS, PRICE QUOTE $1,750. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED THAT CHRYSLER WOULD NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR CARS AND RECALL OR FIX THE ISSUE WITH ALL CARS THAT HAVE THIS ISSUE. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHERE THE CAR WAS MADE, THE CAR OBVIOUSLY WAS MADE WITH A DEFECT THAT POSES A SAFETY PROBLEM. I WILL NOT BE PURCHASING ANOTHER CHRYSLER CAR BECAUSE OF THIS. UNFORTUNATELY, MY AUNT PURCHASED A CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE BECAUSE SHE SAW AND LIKED MY CAR. I ALSO PLAN ON CONTACTING A LAWYER AND CHRYSLER CORPORATE OFFICE TODAY TO SEE IF ANYTHING CAN BE DONE.
AS I WAS LEAVING WORK I NOTED A LOUD RATTLE BEHIND MY HEAD. I STOPPED TO SEE WHAT WAS CAUSING IT. THE BOTTOM OF THE BACK WINDOW HAD SEPARATED FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP AND WAS RATTLING AGAINST THE BODY OF THE CAR. BY THE TIME I HAD DRIVEN THE 4 MILES HOME, THE SEPARATION HAD SPREAD TO NEARLY HALF OF THE WINDOW.
REAR WINDOW FELL OUT. LUCKILY, I WAS NOT DRIVING. IF I HAD BEEN, WINDOW MAY HAVE COME OUT AND HIT A VEHICLE BEHIND ME OR HIT A PEDESTRIAN WHICH PROBABLY WOULD KILL A PERSON ON FOOT. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. MY INSURANCE REFUSE TO REPLACE IT BECAUSE IT IS A "CAR DEFECT". CHRYSLER REFUSING TO REPAIR "JUST CAUSE". THIS COULD BE LIFE-TAKING UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES.
VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVEWAY WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE REAR WINDOW WAS COMING OFF THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. IT WAS COMING LOOSE FROM THE UPPER LEFT CORNER AND DOWN ACROSS THE BOTTOM. IT HAS SINCE COME LOOSE EXCEPT ON THE RIGHT SIDE AND CORNER.
THE REAR WINDOW SEPARATED FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP WHILE I HAD THE CAR PARKED OUTDOORS. I FOUND THE CAR WITH THE REAR WINDOW AREA OPEN AND THE GLASS LYING ON THE INTERIOR OF THE BACKLIGHT AREA. THE GLASS REMAINED CONNECTED TO THE TOP BY ABOUT 1/3 OF THE ORIGINAL GLUE. THE REMAINDER HAD COME APART FROM THE GLUE LEAVING THE GLASS MOSTLY DETACHED.
THE GLASS REAR WINDOW HAS SEPARATED FROM THE FABRIC CONVERTIBLE ROOF. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 2005 MODEL AND HAS BEEN RECALLED IN SEVERAL STATES. MINE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE COVERED BY THE RECALL BUT I HAVE THE ISSUE.
REAR WINDOW FELL OUT. CAR WAS SITTING AT WORK ALL DAY. I'M WALKING TO CAR TO LEAVE WORK AND SEE THE BACK GLASS LAYING DOWN IN THE BACK. GLUE HAD COME LOOSE. CHRYSLER REFUSES TO REPAIR, THOUGH THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. MY INSURANCE REFUSE TO REPAIR BECAUSE IT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT.
I GET OFF WORK, GO TO CAR TO GO HOME, BACK WINDOW LAYING DOWN INTO THE CAR. CHRYSLER AND MY INSURANCE COMPANY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING. PEOPLE PAY $26,000/30,000 FOR A VEHICLE AND THEN HAVE TO PAY ANOTHER $2000 TO REPAIR WHAT CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF AND RESPONSIBLE FOR. I'VE READ MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS WITH NO SOLUTIONS. SOMETHING IS TERRIBLY WRONG WITH THIS. SOMEBODY SHOULD BE ABLE TO FORCE CHRYSLER TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. "WHAT IF" WINDOW HAD BLOWN OUT WHILE DRIVING CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO PERSONS BEHIND VEHICLE.
THE REAR WINDOW IN THE CONVERTIBLE TOP SIMPLY FELL IN.
2 WEEKS AGO WHEN I WENT TO DRIVE MY CAR I NOTICED THAT THE REAR WINDOW SEPARATED FROM THE ROOF. I PROCEEDED TO DEPARTED OVER THE NEXT DAY. I TRIED TO REATTACH WITH AN ADHESIVE BUT IT IS FALLING. I FOUND ON LINE THAT THE COMPANY HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS PROBLEM, I DID CONTACT CHRYSLER BUT THE COMPANY STATED THAT MY VIN DID NOT MATCH THE COVERED VEHICLES. ONLINE I FOUND THAT THIS CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE WITH OTHER UNCOVERED CARS
WOKE UP THE THIS MORNING AND DISCOVER THE REAR WINDOW OF MY 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE HAD SEPARATED FROM THE ROOF. THE CAR ONLY HAS 21,000 MILES ON IT. THE CAR HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT IN A NORTHERN STATE. THERE IS NO REASON THIS SHOULD POOR WORKMANSHIP/ QUALITY. HAD THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AND ACCIDENT. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED BY MANY CONSUMERS.
WENT TO PUT THE TOP UP AND NOTICED THAT THE SEAL AROUND THE REAR WINDOW OF CONVERTIBLE IS PULLING AWAY.
IN JULY, THE REAR GLASS WINDOW FELL OUT (PART OF THE GLASS IS STILL ATTACHED) WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A STREET. UNKNOWN TO ME, THIS ISSUE WAS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THE 2005 MODEL (THE GLASS ADHESIVE FAILED). ALTHOUGH CHRYSLER EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE TOP FOR 10 YEARS, THE WARRANTY COVERS ONLY CARS PURCHASE WITH SPECIFIC VINS. UNFORTUNATELY, MY CAR WAS NOT COVERED OR I WAS NOT NOTIFIED. , THE WINDOW REPAIR (ACTUALLY A TOP REPLACEMENT) IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE PROPED UP THE WINDOW SO I CAN DRIVE THE CAR, THE ALTURNITIVE IS TO A NEW TOP. FOR ABOUT $2,000
AS MANY 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE TOPS , THE REAR WINDOW GLASS IS SEPARATING FROM THE CONVERTIBLE FABRIC. THE ADHESIVE HAS TO BE DEFECTIVE ON ALL TOPS...NOW PEOPLE ARE SAYING THAT 2008 ARE SEPARATING ALSO....THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE SOME WINDOWS HAVE DETACHED DRIVING. CHRYSLER DID RECALL TOPS FOR SOME CARS,BUT ONLY IN A FEW STATES IT IS HAPPENING MORE THEN THEY HAVE MADE IT OUT TO BE. ATTENTION: JOHN ABBOTT I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS CAR. THERE IS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY UNDER A TSB ISSUED BY CHRYSLER CALLED X31. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, X31 SAYS THAT 2005 CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLES THAT ARE UNDER 10 YEARS OLD AND UNDER 100,000 AND DELIVERED IN ANY OF 9 STATES ARE COVERED BY X31. MY CAR WAS BOUGHT IN DALLAS (ONE OF THE 9 INCLUDED STATES) IN JULY 2005 (UNDER 10 YEARS OLD) AND HAS UNDER 31,000 MILES. THE CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGE KEPT. WHEN WE PURCHASED THE CAR THE DEALERSHIP LOOKED NATIONWIDE FOR THE CAR WITH EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED AND FOUND ONE IN WISCONSIN. THE DEALER IN DALLAS, BOUGHT AND SHIPPED THE CAR TO PRESTON CHRYSLER, WHERE I PURCHASED IT. CHRYSLER SAYS THE CAR WAS DELIVERED TO WISCONSIN AND THEREFORE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. EVEN IF THE CAR WAS ORIGINALLY DELIVERED TO A DEALER IN WISCONSIN, IT WAS PURCHASED, NEW, IN TEXAS. I UNDERSTAND CHRYSLER NOT HAVING THIS CAR ON THEIR RECALL LIST, BUT I DON'T BELIEVE IT SHOULD TAKE THAT MUCH EFFORT FOR THEM TO REALIZED THAT THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW IN TEXAS AND INCLUDE THIS VIN IN THE WARRANTY. CHRYSLER HAS AGREED TO OPEN A CASE AND I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP TODAY. I AM DETERMINED TO GET THIS RESOLVED IN MY FAVOR. CHRYSLER HAS NOT SAID THEY WOULDN'T FIX IT, BUT IS TALKING ABOUT DEDUCTIBLES OR OUTRIGHT COST TO ME. THOUSANDS OF THESE TOPS HAVE FAILED AND HUNDREDS WERE FIXED FOR FREE. REAR WINDSHIELD STARTED FALLING OUT OF THE CONVERTIBLE TOP WHILE CAR WAS SITTING IN THE GARAGE. WOULD HAVE BEEN DANGEROUS IF IT CAME OUT ON THE HIGHWAY.

REAR GLASS WINDOW HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM CONVERTIBLE TOP. OTHERWISE THE TOP IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION
THE REAR WINDOW SEPARATED FROM THE CANVAS TOP.
THE REAR WINDOW OF THE CONVERTIBLE TOP HAS COME LOOSE. THE ADHESIVE FAILED. THIS DISTORTS THE REAR VIEW PRESENTING A SAFETY HAZARD. THIS IS MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND SHOULD BE FIXED THEM.
I HAVE A TWO 2005 CROSSFIRE SRT6 ROADSTER THAT THE REAR WINDOWS HAVE DETACHED FROM THE CANVAS AND FALLEN OUT. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME IT HAS OCCURRED ON BOTH VEHICLES. THE 1ST TWO TIMES THE DEALER/CHRYSLER REPLACED THE TOP WITH A DEDUCTIBLE PAYMENT.OF $200. THURSDAY, 5/14/2015 THE WINDOW CAME APART FROM THE CANVAS (3RD TIME ) THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN THE CROSSFIRE COMMUNITY. IT IS A POTENTIAL HAZARD IF THE WINDOW FLIES OUT WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING. I AM IN CURRENT CONTACT WITH CHRYSLER AS THE INITIAL DATE OF SERVICE WAS 04/15/2005. THEREFORE THE VEHICLE IS 1 MONTH OUT OF THE 10 YEAR/100K REPLACEMENT BY 1 MONTH.UNDER THE TPA CHRYSLER IMPOSED AND GUARANTEED FOR ONLY SPECIFIC STATES. (WARM WEATHER STATES)
REAR WINDOW HAS COME UNGLUED FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP CAUSING THE REAR WINDOW TO SEPARATE FROM THE TOP.
THE GLASS REAR WINDOW PANEL IN MY CONVERTIBLE TOP BEGAN DETACHING FROM THE TOP. IT APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN HELD ON ONLY BY ADHESIVE. THERE ARE A REMAINING 6 INCHES ON THE TOP THAT ARE STILL GLUED, BUT I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR FEAR THAT THIS WINDOW GLASS WILL FLY OUT AND INJURE OR DAMAGE ANYONE DRIVING BEHIND ME. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE CONDITION, AND I HAVE FOUND THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THIS SITUATION TO BE REPAIRED, AN ENTIRELY NEW TOP MUST BE INSTALLED. FOR A VEHICLE ONLY 10 YEARS OLD, WITH WELL LESS THAN 100,000 MILES, THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!

THE GLASS REAR WINDOW OF MY CAR IS DETACHING FROM THE CONVERTIBLE SOFT TOP. HAVING BEEN TO SEVERAL CHRYSLER DEALERS OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS, WITH MUCH DIFFICULTY FINDING AUTHORIZED REPAIR TECHNICIANS, I DID NOT TAKE IT IMMEDIATELY TO A DEALERSHIP. IT SEEMED TO BE GLUED IN ORIGINALLY SO I BEGAN WITH MY LOCAL AUTO BODY SHOP WHO REFERRED ME TO A CONVERTIBLE TOP SPECIALIST. I DISCOVERED THE ENTIRE TOP HAS TO BE REPLACED WHICH IS VERY EXPENSIVE. IN RESEARCHING ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS ONLINE, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS DEFECT IS VERY COMMON IN THE 2005 MODEL AND CHRYSLER HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY IN SOME CASES. I REACHED OUT TO CHRYSLER, ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ONLY APPLIES TO CERTAIN "WARM" STATES, NOT CALIFORNIA. I'M NOT SURE HOW THEY MADE THAT DETERMINATION OF WHICH STATES ARE WARM BUT NOT COVERING CALIFORNIA WHICH IS ONE OF THE WARMEST STATES MAKES NO SENSE TO ME. AFTER HEARING THE MANY HORROR STORIES CAUSING INJURY, I HAVE NOW RESOLVED TO KEEP MY CAR IN THE GARAGE UNTIL THE TOP CAN BE REPLACED.
ON MY WAY TO WORK HAVING JUST PASSED SEVERAL CARS, TRAVELING @70+ MILES/HR. ON THE INTERSTATE, I NOTICED WOBBLING & THE LOSS OF CONTROL & IMMEDIATELY MOVED TO THE RIGHT LANE & STEERED TOWARDS THE RIGHT SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY, THANKING GOD FOR NO ACCIDENT. I PUT THE GEAR IN~PARK~TURNED THE IGNITION SWITCH OFF & CHECKED THE EXTERIOR TO NOTICE MY NEWLY PURCHASED REAR PASSENGER TIRE WAS PREMATURELY BLOWN(RECENTLY PURCHASED TIRES). I CALLED A TOW TRUCK(2ND TIME THIS MARCH MONTH BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T CRANK IN MY DRIVEWAY): UPON THEIR INTERSTATE ARRIVAL, I LEARNED THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEM/ENGINE HAD SHUTDOWN WITH AN 'INABILITY TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL GEAR OR ANY GEAR IN ORDER FOR THEM TO TOW IT. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THE ENGINE HAS LOCKED LIKE THIS. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 8(EIGHT) MONTHS NOW SINCE MARCH 23, 2015 & THE CHRYSLER MECHANICS ARE IN 'AWE' AS IT SEEMS TO BE IRREPAIRABLE. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION SINCE MARCH, 2015. CHRYSLER COMPANY, PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM: I & OTHERS COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED ON THE INTERSTATE & I HAVE BEEN TOWED THREE TIMES BECAUSE THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY SHUTDOWN, BUT THIS HAS BEEN THE LONGEST & WORST. IN THE PAST, I HAVE HAD THE HOOD-CEILING, IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED & BEFORE THIS, I WAS ABOUT TO HAVE THE SILVER OUTSIDE WINDOW BORDERS REPLACED. THERE HAS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS ELECTRONIC SYSTEM JUST SHUTTING DOWN WHILE I AM IN THE MIDST OF DRIVING AS THIS BEING THE 3RD TIME SHUTTING DOWN & I DO HAVE A NEW BATTERY, THEREFORE THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND TURNED OFF, IT WAS UNABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE KEY DID NOT TURN THE IGNITION WELL ENOUGH TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OLD AND WAS NOT SOLD BY THAT DEALER. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE BACK WINDOW IN THE CONVERTIBLE TOP IS UNATTACHED AND IF DRIVEN, IT COULD FLY OUT AND HURT SOMEONE HARM OR EVEN TO ANOTHER CAR.
THE BACK WINDOW BECAME UNGLUED FROM THE TOP.THE CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN BECAUSE IT CAN FLY OUT AND HURT SOMEONE. I SAW THERE IS A RECALL ON CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS.
I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH AND THE REAR CONVERTIBLE WINDOW DETACHED FROM THE TOP. IT APPEARS THAT THE ADHESIVE NO LONGER HOLDS THE WINDOW TO THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT SHOULD BE FIXED BY CHRYSLER BUT IT IS NOT COVERED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, THE REAR WINDOW IN THE CONVERTIBLE TOP DETACHED AND FELL OUT, CAUSING THE CAR BEHIND ME TO...REACT IN A VERY UNSAFE MANNER. THE SUDDEN WIND INSIDE MY CAR CAUSED A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO A NUMBER OF CROSSFIRE OWNERS. BIG PROBLEM. WHEN IT DETACHED, IT RIPPED OUT THE WIRING FOR THE DEFOGGER AND SCRATCHED THE TONNEAU COVER. *TR
THE VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE AIR CONDITION HESITATE TO COME ON AND THE TIRE SENURE LIGHT STAYS ON. *TR
PARKING THE CAR I MUST HAVE HIT THE GAS INSTEAD OF THE BRAKE, THE CAR DROVE OVER TWO CURVES, MADE A TURN, AND IN MY PANIC I HIT THE GAS EVEN HARDER THINKING IT WAS THE BRAKE. I ENDED BECAUSE I HIT A TREE THAT STOPPED THE CAR. THE AIRBAG DID NOT EXPLODE. THE CAR WAS TOTALED AND I STILL HAVE HEALTH ISSUES WITH MY HEAD. *TR
REAR WINDOW ADHESIVE FAILURE WHILE THE CAR WAS IN STORAGE
IGNITION STICKS. AT TIMES WHEEL WILL NOT TURN AND CAR WILL NOT START. DON'T KNOW IF IT CAN LOCK UP WHILE THE CAR IS OPERATING. NUMEROUS ON-LINE COMPLAINTS APPEAR REGARDING THE CROSSFIRE WHEEL LOCK AND IGNITION MALFUNCTION. RECALL BEFORE IT CAUSES ACCIDENT WOULD BE WARRANTED. *TR
MY 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE WAS ON THE CA-10 INTERSTATE AND THE REAR WINDOW DETACHED FROM THE VINYL DURING DRIVE. WAS NOT ABLE TO MOVE IT WHILE DRIVING CAUSING HAZARD TO DRIVERS AROUND MY VEHICLE AND LIMITED VISIBILITY.
I WAS STOPPED FOR TRAFFIC AND THE CAR JUST STALLED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I HAD TO PUSH IT TO THE SIDE OF THE RODE AND WAIT 5-7 MINUTES BEFORE THE CAR WOULD START. I WENT TO THE CROSSFIREFORUM.ORG WEBSITE AND WITH FURTHER RESEARCH FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON DEFAULT WITH THIS CAR/ENGINE. THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR APPARENTLY BECOMES DEFECTIVE, AFTER AWHILE, AND RANDOMLY MALFUNCTIONS CAUSING THE CAR ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN AT ANYTIME UNTIL IT RESETS ALLOWING THE ENGINE TO RE-START. I PURCHASED A REPLACEMENT SENSOR FROM AUTOZONE FOR $55.00, IT IS AN DURALAST #SU4740. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN DECEMBER OF 2008 WITH 28,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS SENSOR HAS MALFUNCTIONED. *TR
