RIGHT REAR RIM BROKE IN HALF. THIS BREAK WAS ON THE INSIDE OF THE RIM ABOUT 1" FROM THE SPOKES. THE BREAK WAS AROUND THE ENTIRE RIM. NOT ACROSS THE RIM; AROUND THE ENTIRE RIM. I CAN PROVIDE PICTURES AND STILL HAVE THE RIM. *TR
THE REAR WINDOW OF MY 2005 CROSSFIRE LIMITED CONVERTIBLE HAS ALMOST COMPLETELY BECOME DETACHED IN THE OKLAHOMA SUMMER HEAT AT 52,000 MILES. AFTER NOTICING THE TSB AND THE FACT THAT CHRYSLER DID IN FACT STATE THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE GLUE ON CERTAIN MODELS, I CALLED CHRYSLER TO INQUIRE ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO SINCE A) THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY AND B) I WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER. I PURCHASED THE VERY WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE IN JUNE, 2013 WITH ONLY 49,000 MILES. CHRYSLER HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THE FACT THAT IT IS A FACTORY DEFECT WITH THESE MODELS....IT ONLY SEEMS REASONABLE THAT THEY CHRYSLER AT LEAST REPLACE THE "DEFECTIVE PART."
THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES SERVICE BULLETIN 23-035-11, DATED SEPTEMBER 01, 2011, WHICH SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM YOUR FILES. THIS IS A COMPLETE REVISION AND NO ASTERISKS HAVE BEEN USED TO HIGHLIGHT REVISIONS. SUBJECT: CONVERTIBLE SOFT TOP BACK GLASS LOOSE AND/OR DETACHED FROM FABRIC (10 YR. / 100,000 MILE WARRANTY EXTENSION) OVERVIEW: THIS BULLETIN INVOLVES INSPECTING THE CONVERTIBLE SOFT TOP BACK GLASS AND IF NECESSARY REPLACING THE CONVERTIBLE TOP COVER. MODELS: 2005 (ZH) CROSSFIRE ROADSTER NOTE: THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH CONVERTIBLE SOFT TOP. SYMPTOM/CONDITION: THE CUSTOMER MAY EXPERIENCE CONVERTIBLE SOFT TOP BACK GLASS LOOSE AND/OR DETACHED FROM FABRIC. DIAGNOSIS: IF THE CUSTOMER DESCRIBES THE SYMPTOM, PERFORM THE REPAIR PROCEDURE. MY REAR GLASS FELL OUT OF MY CONVERTIBLE WHILE IT WAS SITTING STILL, I DID MY RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 YEAR MODEL. I FOUND THAT CHRYSLER PUT A TEN YEAR 100,000 MILE WARRANTY ON THE TOP WHICH IS COVERED BY THE SERVICE BULLETIN LISTED ABOVE. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD THAT NOT ALL ARE COVERED BECAUSE THEY ARE STATE SPECIFIC WHICH IS BULL AND THEY SHOULD COVER ALL TOP THAT DEVELOP THE PROBLEM NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE, A DEFECT IS A DEFECT NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE. *TR
THE REAR WINDOW CAME UNGLUED FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. IF THE DEFROSTER CABLE HAD NOT HELD THE WINDOW WOULD HAVE FLOWN OUT, AND COULD HAVE SERIOUSLY HARMED OTHER MOTORISTS. CHRYSLER KNOWS OF THIS ISSUE AND HAS ISSUED TSB 23-035-11 WHICH ACKNOWLEDGES THE DEFECT AND WILL REPAIR IT, BUT ONLY FOR CARS SENT TO CERTAIN DEALERSHIPS. THIS SHOULD BE FIXED ON ALL 2005 CROSSFIRES. THE VEHICLE IS NOW UNDRIVEABLE AND HAS TO HAVE THE ENTIRE TOP REPLACED. *TR
THE 2005 (ONLY) CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE HAS A FAULTY SEAL BONDING THE BACKGLASS TO THE TOP CAUSING IT TO BECOME DISLODGED FROM THE TOP TRAVELING OR PARKED. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE DEFECT CALLING IT A "TRIM" PIECE. A VEHICLE TRAVELING ON THE EXPRESSWAY OR HIGHWAY LOSING ITS' BACKGLASS IS NOT A TRIM BUT A DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT MUST BE RECALLED. MODELS AFTER 2005 HAD THIS DEFECT CORRECTED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR GLASS HAD BECOME PARTIALLY DETACHED FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE CONVERTIBLE TOP WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000. *TR
NOTICED THE REAR WINDOW HAS STARTED TO DETACH FROM THE TOP. THIS IS A KNOW FLAW AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. THIS IS A MAJOR HAZARD AS THE CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN AS IS. *TR
THE REAR GLASS WINDOW OF THE CONVERTIBLE TOP BECAME LOOSE, SEPARATING FROM THE FABRIC TOP OVER A 19-INCH LINEAR LENGTH, POSING A SERIOUS HAZARD WHILE DRIVING WITH THE TOP UP; WITH THE POTENTIAL THAT IT MAY COME COMPLETELY OFF WHILE TRAVELING AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE BACK WINDOW FELL INTO MY DRIVER SEAT. IT JUST POPPED OUT. I WAS VERY LUCKY NOT TO HAVE HAD AND ACCIDENT. *TR
REAR GLASS HAS SEPARATED FROM CONVERTIBLE TOP AT THE BOTTOM FOR 10 TO 12 INCHES. FEAR THAT THE REST WILL PULL FREE IF I CONTINUE TO DRIVE. CALLED REPAIR PLACES AND WAS TOLD IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED DUE TO THE WAY IT WAS MANUFACTURED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. CAR IS GARAGE KEPT AND DRIVEN 3500 MILES A YEAR, TOP LOOKS LIKE NEW OTHERWISE. HAVE INFORMED MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAVE INSPECTION AND OIL CHANGES PERFORMED AND WAS TOLD THAT SOMEONE WOULD CONTACT ME. NOTHING AS OF YET. *TR
I HAVE HAD MY CAR SINCE 2006 HOWEVER I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE IGNITION SWITCH DOESN'T TURN. I WOULD GET IT FIX OUT OF POCKET BUT I ONLY HAVE 33,000 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT, AND I DON'T THINK A CAR THAT HAS THIS LITTLE OF MILES SHOULD HAVE THIS KIND OF PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR WINDOW WELDING FAILED AND CAUSED THE WINDOW TO DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT REPAIR THE REAR WINDOW DUE TO NOT HAVING THE PROPER EQUIPMENT. THE DEALER STATED THE CONTACT HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
THE REAR WINDOW GLASS ON THE ROADSTER HAS SEPARATED FROM THE ROOF LINING. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT CAN NOT BE REPAIRED ONLY REPLACED. THIS PRESENTS A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN THE ADHESIVE FAILS COMPLETELY AND THE GLASS FALLS OUT ON A ROADWAY OR TURNS INTO A PROJECTILE INSIDE THE CAR WHILE DRIVING. *TR
THE BACK WINDOW IN MY 2005 CROSSFIRE CAME UNGLUED AND NEARLY FELL IN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I HAD TO GET OFF THE ROAD AND FOUND A WAY TO GET HOME WITH IT BARELY HANGING ON. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER ONLY TO LEARN THAT THEY HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON 2005 CROSSFIRE TOPS BUT BECAUSE MY CAR WAS NOT SOLD IN ONE OF THE NINE SOUTHERN STATES THEY WOULD NOT HELP ME. I WAS ABLE TO FIND SOMEONE TO RE-ATTACH THE WIDOW ON A TEMPORARY BASIS BUT IT KEEPS COMING UNGLUED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE ONLY PERMANENT SOLUTION IS TO GET A NEW TOP. I'VE SPENT 2 YEARS LIMPING ALONG WITH MAKE DUE REMEDIES. PLEASE HELP US.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT THEY REFUSED TO ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE. WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A CLICKING SOUND AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR GLASS WINDOW SEPARATED FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. THE FAILURE COULD EVENTUALLY CAUSE THE TOP TO DETACH COMPLETELY AS THE GLASS CONTINUED TO STRIKE THE ROLL BAR OF THE DRIVER SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.

CHRYSLER RESTRICTS THEIR REMEDY TO ONLY VEHICLES FIRST SOLD IN ALABAMA, FLORIDA, GEORGIA, LOUISIANA, MISSOURI, NORTH CAROLINA, SOUTH CAROLINA, TENNESSEE, AND TEXAS, DESPITE THE FACT THAT ALL OF THESE CARS WERE IMPORTED FROM THE SAME SOURCE AT THE SAME TIME. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE IN THE PRODUCT DEFECT THAT HAS OCCURRED NATIONWIDE. THE NHTSA MUST FORCE CHRYSLER TO HELP ALL AFFECTED OWNERS! WHAT CHRYSLER IS DOING IS JUST SO WRONG! PLEASE HELP US! THIS SERVES AS AN ADDENDUM TO OUR (AND MANY OTHERS') COMPLAINTS. THE CHRYSLER TSB THAT YOU HAVE ON FILE, ONLY LISTS THE AFFECTED SYSTEMS AS "VISIBILITY", AND IT CALLS FOR REPAIR (?) WHEN IT ACTUALLY SPECIFIES REPLACEMENT AS THE ONLY RECOMMENDED REMEDY, AT A TYPICAL COST OF $2,500; TO BE PROVIDED OR REIMBURSED TO A SMALL SELECT GROUP OF OWNERS, EVEN THOUGH THIS FAILURE CONTINUES TO OCCUR NATIONWIDE. THIS IS ABSURD. WE SHOULD NOTE THAT THE TERM "STRUCTURE" AS AN "AFFECTED PART" NO LONGER APPEARS IN YOUR E-MAIL COMPLAINT FORM (WE WONDER WHY?) ALL MODERN CONVERTIBLE ROOF TOPS AND WINDOWS ARE INTENDED AND DESIGNED FOR SAFE, LONG TERM USE IN ANY EXPECTED DRIVING CONDITIONS, THUS THE USE OF DOT APPROVED SAFETY GLASS AND ELECTRONIC REAR WINDOW DEFROSTERS, ESPECIALLY WHEN CONDITIONS REQUIRE THE ROOF TOP TO BE IN THE "UP" POSITION. THE NEGATIVE RESULTS OF ANY WINDOW DETACHMENT, VISIBILITY, STABILITY OF THE VEHICLE, SAFE REACTION BY THE DRIVER, WEATHER PROTECTION, ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION ETC., BOTH IMMEDIATE AND POTENTIAL LONG TERM, IN A CASE WHERE THE VEHICLE MUST STILL BE DRIVEN ANY UNKNOWN DISTANCE UNPROTECTED FROM WHATEVER CONDITIONS POSSIBLE, MAY WELL PROVE CATASTROPHIC AND MUST BE CONSIDERED COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE BY ANY STANDARD, ESPECIALLY THAT OF OUR U.S. GOVERNMENT. REAR WINDOW BECAME COMPLETELY DETACHED (LOOSE) FROM THE MOUNTING SURFACE. HAVING THE CHRYSLER GROUP SERVICE BULLETIN (23035-11 REV A) ON FILE, WHICH SPECIFIES A 10YR/100,000 MI. WARRANTY EXTENSION (2005 MODEL) ALONG WITH AN AMPLE AMOUNT OF EVIDENCE THAT THIS DEFECT HAS OCCURRED IN ALL REGIONS OF THE U.S., TO A VEHICLE THAT WAS IMPORTED FROM ONLY ONE SOURCE IN GERMANY; WHY HAS THE NHTSA FAILED TO REQUIRE THE CHRYSLER GROUP TO COVER ALL OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES REGARDLESS OF WHICH STATE THEY WERE FIRST SOLD IN???

THE REAR WINDOW IN MY 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE ROADSTER BECAME UNGLUED AND WILL NOT STAY IN PLACE; THIS MAKES THE CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE, AS THE WINDOW MAY COME OUT AT ANY TIME, STRING SOMEONE OR CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED IN NOV 2008 WITH ONLY 16,800 MILES ON IT, AND HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT SINCE. THIS IS A KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT, HAVING AFFECTED DOZENS OF THESE CARS, AS WELL AS OTHER CHRYSLER CONVERTIBLES PRODUCED DURING THAT TIME. CHRYSLER HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE, BUT WILL ONLY REPAIR VEHICLES DELIVERED TO SPECIFIC SOUTHERN STATES, NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE, BOUGHT THE CAR, ETC. *TR
THE REAR GLASS WINDOW IN THE CONVERTIBLE SOFT TOP HAS COME UNGLUED AND IS FALLING OUT. THIS IS A SEVERE ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE OF CAR AND CHRYSLER REFUSES TO REPAIR OR REPLACE IT. AT ONE TIME, CHRYSLER AGREED TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THESE VEHICLES TO 10 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES BUT ONLY TO CROSSFIRES THAT WERE SHIPPED TO CERTAIN SOUTHERN STATES, SUCH AS SOUTH CAROLINA, GEORGIA, FLORIDA, TENNESSEE, ALABAMA, MISSISSIPPI AND TEXAS. THEY FEEL ONLY THE CARS THAT ARE IN THESE WARMER CLIMATE STATES WILL BE AFFECTED. MY CAR IS A 2005 MODEL THAT I PURCHASED AS A USED VEHICLE FROM CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IN JULY 2012, WHO DID NOT TELL ME ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND REFUSE TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE TOP. IT WAS SHIPPED TO MI IN 2005 AND THEN WAS REGISTERED IN SC IN 2006. MY FEELING IS ALL OF THE AFFECTED CARS SHOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY AS IT'S A MANYFACTURER DEFECT. NOW I WILL BE RESPONSIBLE TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL $2,300 FOR A NEW TOP THAT WILL EVENTURALLY HAVE THE REAR WINDOW FALL OUT AGAIN. GOOGLE THIS PROBLEM AND YOU WILL SEE IT'S NATIONWIDE IF NOT WORLDWIDE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE REAR WINDOW DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THE WINDOW WAS A FACTORY DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEFECT WAS THE ADHESIVE THAT HELD THE REAR GLASS TO THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. THE TOP WAS CONSTRUCTED OF EXCELLENT QUALITY GERMAN CANVASS. THE GLASS DETACHED AND WAS TETHERED TO THE TOP SOLELY BY THE WIRE CONNECTING THE REAR GLASS DEFROSTER, AND THERE WAS NOTHING HOLDING THE GLASS TO THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 10/31/13

IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE HAD IT COME LOOSE AT A HIGHER SPEED, BUT IN THE END THE MAJOR ISSUE IS NOW THE LARGE HOLE ALLOWING WATER INTO THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. CHRYSLER HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS ISSUE BUT ONLY IF THE CAR IS ORIGINALLY SOLD IN CERTAIN STATES. THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN THOSE STATES ALMOST THE ENTIRE TIME IT HAS EXISTED, BUT BECAUSE IT WAS SOLD IN CALIFORNIA ORIGINALLY IT IS DEEMED NOT COVERED. *TR

WHEN IT STALLS, IT USUALLY STARTS RIGHT UP, BUT A FEW TIMES IT HAS STALLED AND WHEN I TRY TO RESTART IT THE ENGINE DOES NOT TRY TO TURN OVER. THE LIGHTS STAY ON SO THERE'S POWER, BUT WHEN I TURN THE KEY...NOTHING! IT USUALLY STARTS UP AFTER A FEW MINUTES THIS MAKES ME VERY NERVOUS THAT SOMEONE WILL CRASH INTO ME! I REPLACED THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR SO THAT'S NOT IT. ANY SUGGESTIONS? HAS ANYONE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS? AS A RESULT, THE REAR WINDOW GLASS BECAME SLIGHTLY DETACHED. THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE HOWEVER, A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN WAS ISSUED UNDER NHTSA ITEM NUMBER: 10042531 (VISIBILITY:GLASS, SIDE/REAR). THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,700.
BOUGHT A 2005 CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE IN 2006. WAS "NEW" BUT DEALERSHIP PUT 3,000 MILES ON IT. SECURITY SYSTEM NEVER WORKED PROPERLY (CAR NOT RESPONDING TO PANIC BUTTON, SIREN DID NOT WORK). WAS TOLD BY DEALER SERVICE SECURITY DISABLES THE IGNITION, AND PANIC BUTTON NOT WORKING JUST WEAK BATTERY IN REMOTE (WHICH I DID NOT BELIEVE). JANUARY 2013, CAR IN GARAGE,15,000 MILES AND LOCKS WOULD NOT RESPOND TO REMOTE. UNLOCKED CAR WITH KEY. CAR WOULD NOT START, AND WAS DISABLED. HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALER. HAD $900 REPAIR FOR NEW ELECTRONIC ENTRY PART UNDER DASHBOARD. END OF SEPTEMBER 2014, CAR 17,000 MILES, LOCKS DID NOT RESPOND TO REMOTE. OPENED DOOR WITH KEY. SIREN WENT ON, AND IGNITION WAS DISABLED. CAR WOULD NOT START. HAD IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP OCTOBER 7, 2014. CAR STILL AT DEALERSHIP. THEY BELIEVE IT IS ELECTRONIC PART IN TRUNK, CANNOT OPEN TRUNK. WILL COST $350 TO DISASSEMBLE ENOUGH TO GET INTO TRUNK TO CONFIRM THAT IS THE FAULTY PART. ALSO, TOLD ME THERE WAS WATER IN THE DASH BOARD, AND OTHER CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE'S LEAK WATER INTO DASH AND INTO TRUNK CAUSING ELECTRONIC FAILURES. CAR WAS TOWED YESTERDAY AND WAS IN DEALERS LOT LAST NIGHT STRANDED FOR SEVERAL HOURS LAST NIGHT. I HAVE KEPT THE CAR IN GARAGE SINCE I BOUGHT IT, AND ONLY DROVE IT IN NICE WEATHER. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE FINAL COST WILL BE, BUT PROBLEM OF ELECTRICAL FAILURE SEEMS COMMON WITH 2005 CROSSFIRES FROM WHAT I HAVE READ. I NO LONGER TRUST THE CAR. I NEVER KNOW WHERE OR WHEN IT WILL STRAND ME. I PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS CAR. I HAVE TAKEN GOOD CARE OF THE CAR. IT IS A POOR DESIGN LEADING TO THESE COSTLY REPAIRS AND SAFETY CONCERNS (CAR CAN LOCK YOU OUT AND STRAND YOU AT ANY TIME AND PLACE). THIS CAN LEAVE ONE AT RISK IN MANY AREAS AND SITUATIONS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL OR CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. THE OWNERS PAID A LOT OF MONEY IN GOOD FAITH AND DESERVE TO HAVE A RELIABLE PRODUCT IN RETURN. THE CONSUMER STATED THE SKREEM MODULE WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES, AND THE CENTRAL TIMING MODULE WAS REPLACED. ALSO, WHEN THE CONSUMER WENT TO OPEN THE DOOR, THE DOOR HANDLE SLICED OPEN HIS FINGER. THE REAR GLASS ON THE CONVERTIBLE TOP COMES UNGLUED FROM THE CANVAS CREAATING A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION WHEREBY THE GLASS CAN ACT LIKE A PROJECTILE TRAVELING EITHER FORWARD, INJURING OR KILLING THE PASSENGERS, OR BACKWARDS, WREAKING HAVOC ON VEHICLES BEHIND. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THIS CONDITION YET MOST OF THE EMPLOYEES I HAVE COME IN CONTACT WITH CLAIM TO HAVE NEVER HEARD ABOUT IT. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OR MORE VEHICLES INVOLVED. CHRYSLER HAS ADOPTED A POLICY OF RANDOMLY CHOOSING TO REPAIR SOME VEHICLES WHILE NOT REPAIRING OTHERS. THEY HAVE REJECTED MY CLAIM TWICE, WHILE OTHER OWNERS I HAVE SPOKEN WITH WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ARE AWAITING REPAIRS AS SOON AS NEXT WEEK. THEY HAVE CLAIMED THAT THEY ARE ONLY FIXING CARS IN CERTAIN STATES. CALIFORNIA IS NOT ONE OF THEM, ALTHOUGH I WOULD THINK THAT THEY SOLD MANY CROSSFIRE ROADSTERS HERE. PURCHASED CROSSFIRE IN CALIFORNIA IN DECEMBER OF 2012 WITH 45000 MILES ON IT. COMMENCING JANUARY 2013, REAR GLASS COMMENCED COMING DETACHED FROM CANVAS CONVERTIBLE TOP. CONDITION CONTINUES AND IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR BOTH PASSENGERS AND DRIVERS BEHIND CAR. IF GLASS BREAKS LOOSE IT COULD CAUSE SERIOUS BODILY HARM. CHRYSLER IS VERY WELL AWARE OF THE SITUATION AND HAS PAID TO REPAIR THE VEHICLES ON A SPORADIC BASIS. THEIR LAST COMMENTS TO ME WAS DUE TO MY VEHICLE BEING FIRST DELIVERED IN CALIFORNIA, IT WAS EXEMPT FROM THE RECALL FOR EIGHT SOUTHERN STATES. THIS IS QUITE PERPLEXING AS THE VEHICLES ARE IDENTICAL, WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. ONLY IN DIFFERENT STATES. I HAVE JUST LEARNED THAT THEY REPLACED THE TOP ON A VEHICLE IN CHICAGO. CLEARLY NOT ONE OF THE STATES NAMED IN THE SOUTH. I WOULD LIKE THEM TO HONOR WHAT THEY ARE DOING ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. PERHAPS IT IS BECAUSE THEY PROBABLY SOLD THE MOST OF THESE VEHICLES HERE IN CALIFORNIA. THEY ARE ALSO EXCUSING THEMSELVES FROM DOING REPAIRS BECAUSE THE CARS WERE NEVER CLIMATE TESTED IN CALIFORNIA. AFTER SOME TIME, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF THE LOWER GEARS WHILE IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THREE DIFFERENT DEALERS FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT NO CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE COULD BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

ADHESIVE ON REAR GLASS WINDOW COMING LOOSE, HAS BEEN FOR MONTHS NOW. WINDOW IS NOW BARELY HELD IN BY TOP STRIP OF GLUE & COULD FALL OUT AT ANY MOMENT. ISSUE IS COVERED UNDER A SERVICE BULLETIN FROM CHRYSLER BUT THEY ARE DENYING MY CLAIM BECAUSE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN A DIFFERENT STATE. IF THE WINDOW FALLS OUT IT COULD HURT A PASSENGER OR EVEN FLY OUT FROM THE CAR AND HARM SOMEONE ELSE ON THE ROAD. THIS ISSUE HAPPENS TO ALL 2005 CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLES DUE TO A DEFECT IN MANUFACTURING. *TR
CAR WOULDN'T START SEVERAL TIMES SINCE PURCHASE. THE BATTERY WAS FULLY CHARGED, TOOK IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALER WHO "CLEANED UP SOME GROUNDS". THE LIGHTS, STEREO, ETC WORKED BUT THE MOTOR DIDN'T EVEN MAKE A SOUND WHEN TRYING TO START. ONE TIME WHEN IT DID START I WAS MAKING A TURN WHEN THE CAR COMPLETELY DIED...I DIDN'T REALIZE IT AT FIRST BECAUSE THE HEATER, RADIO, PANEL WERE ALL LIT UP AND WORKING. I WAS VERY LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO MAKE IT SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED BACK TO THE GARAGE. WHEN THEY STARTED WORKING ON IT, THE PANEL BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX STARTED SMOKING. I NOW HAVE A VERY NICE, USELESS LITTLE CAR WITH ONLY 50,000 MILES ON IT BECAUSE #CHRYSLER CAN'T FIX IT FOR ME. *TR

I PARKED MY CAR AT A SHOP'S PARKING LOT AND DIDN'T HAVE ANY ISSUES. ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER I CAME BACK TO MY CAR AND TRIED TO GET THE ENGINE TO TURN OVER AND THE IGNITION WOULD NOT TURN. I TRIED WITH BOTH OF MY KEYS AND I COULDN'T GET THE IGNITION TO TURN. THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO WAS LOCKED UP. I HAD TO TAKE APART MY DASH BOARD TO GET TO THE IGNITION SO I COULD RELEASE THE LOCKING PIN. ONCE THE PIN WAS RELEASED I HAD NO PROBLEMS STARTING THE CAR. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 15MPH, I HEARD A RATTLE AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR WINDOW HAD DETACHED ON THREE SIDES. THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE TO CHRYSLER AND HAS BEEN ADDRESSED BY A TSB. HOWEVER, THIS TSB IS LIMITED TO ONLY CERTAIN STATES. WHEN I PURCHASED MY, I WAS NOT INFORMED OF ITS ORIGIN. MY CAR WAS ORIGINALLY SOLD IN A STATE NOT COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY INCLUDED IN THE TSB DATED 9/8/11. HOWEVER, I BOUGHT AND HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR IN A STATE WHICH IS INCLUDED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR SIX YEARS AND IT WAS ONE YEAR OLD WHEN PURCHASED. ALL OF THE CROSSFIRES MADE IN THIS YEAR WERE MADE IN GERMANY. CHRYSLER HAS DECLINED TO HONOR THE X31 EXTENDED WARRANTY INCLUDED IN THE 2011 TSB IN MY CASE. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW CHRYSLER CAN REFUSE TO CORRECT A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE. I FEEL CHRYSLER SHOULD BE ORDERED TO RECALL ALL 2005 CROSSFIRE ROADSTERS. I WAS TOLD THE NHTSA WAS FOR VEHICLES DELIVERED ONLY IN CERTAIN STATES. WHAT DOES THE STATE HAVE TO DO WITH A FAULTY ADHESION PROBLEM? AFTER A NUMBER OF EMAILS AND PHONE CALLS CHRYSLER HAS TURNED DOWN THE REQUEST. CONCERNED THERE IS A DANGER IF THE WINDOW COMES OUT ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR

MECHANIC STATED HE HAS REPLACED AT LEAST TWENTY IGNITIONS ON CROSSFIRES, IN THE LAST TWO YEARS, WITH THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM. MINIMUM COST FOR REPAIRS IS $2000.00. IGNITION HAS TO BE RE-LASER CUT TO FIT EXISTING KEY. *TR
