I OWN A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. MY COMPLAINT DEALS WITH THE TOTAL LACK OF VISIBILITY WHEN ONE IS BACKING UP. SPECIFICALLY, SINCE THE REAR WINDOW IS SO HEAVILY TINTED YOU CANNOT SEE ANY ILLUMINATION THROWN OUT BY THE INADEQUATE BACK-UP LIGHTS. IF THE AREA AROUND THE CAR IS POORLY LIT, ONE CANNOT SEE ANYTHING OR BODY BEHIND YOU. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 45 YEARS AND HAVE A VERY GOOD DRIVING RECORD. THIS IS THE MOST DANGEROUS VEHICLE I HAVE EVER DRIVEN!! I WILL NOT DRIVE IT IN THE EVENING ANYMORE DUE TO THE TOTAL LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE. INSTEAD, I DRIVE MY WIFE'S HONDA CR-V. ON FEBRUARY 7, 2005 I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE REP SAID THAT I COULD PEEL OFF THE TINTED CELLOPHANE STRIP FROM THE REAR WINDOW. THIS IS LUDICROUS. THE TINT ON THE GLASS IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE PANE. HE WAS ABSOLUTELY USELESS. ON FEBRUARY 8, 2005 I COMPLAINED TO MY DEALER. HE WOULD NOT REPLACE THE REAR WINDOW BUT WOULD SELL ME A BACK-UP SENSOR SYSTEM FOR THEIR COST OF $417.00. THE PROBLEM IS NOT SOLVED. THIS IS A PROBLEM OF SAFETY. ALL I WANT IS A WAY OF USING MY CAR 24/7 WITHOUT FEAR OF STRIKING SOMEBODY OR AN OBJECT, THROUGH NO FAULT OF MY OWN. I DO NOT FEEL IT IS APPROPRIATE FOR ME TO PAY FOR THIS SERVICE. 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA DEVELOPED PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND THE WHEEL BEARINGS. *MR THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED PROBLEM UPON THE ARRIVAL AT HOME ON THE FIRST DAY OF PURCHASE. THERE WERE CLUNKING SOUNDS WHEN IN DRIVE, REVERSE, SHIFT OR REVERSE TO DRIVE, A WHINE WHEN DECELERATING AT 30-40 MPH, EXCESS BACKLASH IN THE DIFFERENTIAL. THE SERVICE DEALER NOTES STATED THAT THERE WAS INCORRECT GEAR LASH AND BEARING PRELOAD UPON ORIGINAL ASSEMBLY FROM THE FACTORY. THE DEALER FIXED THE WHEEL BEARING AND STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS NORMAL. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED A REFUND. *SC
REAR GRINDS AND SMOKES. HEAVY VIBRATION THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL THAT IS SO BAD THAT IT IS DIFFICULT TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL. *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ACCELERATOR WOULD INTERMITTENTLY BECOME FROZEN AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO ENGAGE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. WHEN THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR, THE CONTACT WOULD MOVE THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROADWAY, SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART THE ENGINE AND DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WITH EXTREME FORCE UNTIL IT WOULD ENGAGE. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HAVING THE DEALER DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,336.
PARKED CAR FOR THREE DAYS ON FIVE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND THE POWER SUPPLY WAS DEAD WHEN I TRIED TO START THE CAR. THE DEALER SAID I MUST REMOVE A MODULE UNDER THE HOOD ANYTIME THAT I LEAVE THE CAR FOR MORE THEN TWO DAYS. THIS PROCESS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND CAUSES PROBLEMS FOR ANYONE WHO TRAVELS AND LEAVES THEIR CAR IN A LOT WHILE FLYING. THEY STATE THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAVE NO FIX FOR IT. *JB
REAR HATCH WOULD NOT WORK. IN FOR REPAIR 3 TIMES. RONT END THUMPS UPON HARD BRAKING. IN FOR REPAIR 4 TIMES WITH NO RESOLUTION. CAR WILL NOT START. IN FOR REPAIR CURRENTLY FOR THE 3RD TIME. DRIVERS SEAT MOVES UPON ACCELERATION AND STOPPING. IN FOR REPAIR 4 TIMES, STILL NOT RESOLVED. CD PLAYER HAS STATIC BETWEEN SONGS. REPLACED CD PLAYER ONCE. STILL HAPPENS WITHOUT RESOLUTION.*AK
2004 PACIFIC (6 MONTHS OLD) AND 9,000 MILES WOULD NOT START UNTIL JUMPED. HAD TO BE JUMPED TWICE IN 1 WEEK TO START CAR WHEN WE WERE AWAY ON VACATION. APPEARS TO BE LOSE CONNECTION BETWEEN ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY. DEALER COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM BUT SAID WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN HAVE IT TOWED AND THEY'LL FIX IT THEN. *AK
I PURCHASED MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR AGO. I CURRENTLY HAVE OVER 18,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, WHICH HAS BEEN PLAGUED WITH PROBLEMS. MY ENGINE LIGHT HAS STAYED ON ALMOST CONTINUOUSLY SINCE JULY 2004. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CAN'T SEEM TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. THE EGR SENSOR FAILED ON A RECENT TRIP AND MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER AND MAKE LOUD NOISES THAT COULD BE HEARD BY OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. THE BALL JOINTS HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE AXLE SEALS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND NOW AN AXLE HAS TO THE REPLACED. EITHER MY VEHICLE IS THE ONLY LEMON IN THE ORCHARD OR CHRYSLER HAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE PACIFICA.*AK
THERE HAS BEEN NO ACCIDENT FOR ME BUT I AM SURE IF YOU SEARCH YOU CAN FIND THIS PROBLEM. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FREEZES UP WHEN THE WEATHER IS VERY COLD AND WET. THE DEFROSTER DOES NOTHING TO HELP KEEP THE WIPERS IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE AND MADE A THUMPING SOUND. THE VEHICLE ALSO TENDS TO PULL TO THE RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUES. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,200 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000. UPDATED 6/16/08 *CN THE LEFT REAR SEATBELT WOULD NOT RETRACT, THE OUTER TIE ROD ENDS, THE BLOWER MOTOR AND RESISTOR WERE REPLACED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE DIDN'T HAVE ANY HEAT, THE BATTERY WAS STALLING. BRITAX MODEL # E9L0605, DOM 08/01/2003. CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 04C002000. HOWEVER, NO PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. *AK
LEASED PACIFICA 7-2004. BY 11-2004 9000 MILES STARTED MAKEING LOUD POPPING SOUNDS FROM FRONT END. DEALER TRYED TO CONCEL PROBLEM WITH PTO UNIT THAT THEY KNEW WAS FAULTY, AFTER TAKING CAR HOME, ON A WE HAD TO ORDER NEW PART THEY LET ME DRIVE THIS CAR WITH NO REPAIRS MADE AT THAT TIME. 2 WEEKS LATER WE CONTACTED THE SERVICE DIRECTOR AND HE REVELED THE PROBLEM AND PART WAS REPLACED. NOW IN MAY 2005 IT IS MAKING LOUD THUMPS IN THE FRONT END WHEN DECELRATING AND ACELERATING CAR IS AT THE DEALERSHIP AT THIS TIME. ONE OTHER PROBLEM WAS WATER ON PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR THEY HAD NOT SEALED A TUBE PROPERLY AT TIME OF MANUFACTURE.
ON WEDNESDAY I HAD HEARD A NOISE FROM UNDER MY HOOD, I FIGURED I WOULD BRING IT UP WHEN I BROUGHT MY CAR IN NEXT WEEK FOR AN OIL CHANGE. ON FRIDAY I WAS DRIVING IN A PARKING GARAGE (WHICH I HAVE DONE HUNDREDS OF OTHER TIMES) WHEN MY CAR HIT A COLUMN AT THE TOP OF THE TURN. IT WAS A HARD LEFT TURN, AT 5-7 MPH. THE RESULTS OVER $12,000 OF DAMAGE! THE AXLE WAS RIPPED OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION ALONG WITH MANY OTHER BROKEN PARTS. BASICALLY MY FRONT LEFT TIRE WAS HANGING LIKE A LOOSE TOOTH. ALL THE BROKEN PARTS WERE PUSHED TO JUST UNDER MY PEDALS.THE APPRAISER SAID THAT IF THIS HAPPENED AT HIGHER SPEEDS IT WOULD HAVE BROKEN MY LEGS. ALL PARTS WERE REPLACED (THROUGH MY INSURANCE) BUT NOW I HAVE A NEW CAR THAT I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN. AT THE TIME THE CAR HAD 4,800 MILES ON IT. AFTER READING CASES LIKE 10096021 AND 10087837, DID I HAVE A DEFECT? IS IT A GOOD THING THAT IT DID NOT HAPPEN ON A HIGHWAY?*AK
EXTENSIVE RUST FORMATION ON ALL SUSPENSION COMPONENTS AND IN PARTICULAR THE ENGINE CRADLE. ON THE ENGINE CRADLE, RUST IS MOST PROMINENT ON THE WELD SEAMS AND THE LOWER PORTIONS WHERE MOISTURE PROBABLY IS POOLING ON THE INSIDE AND PENETRATING WHAT MUST BE UNUSUALLY POROUS AND/OR UNTREATED METAL. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND I NOTICED A RUST COLOR ON THE VARIOUS SUSPENSION PARTS EARLY IN THE OWNERSHIP. I MENTIONED THIS COLORATION TO THE DEALER AND THEY EXPLAINED IT AS A CLAY COMPOUND SPRAY THAT IS APPLIED AT THE FACTORY TO PROTECT UNDERCARRIAGE FROM CORROSION DURING SHIPPING. AT THE TIME, I ACCEPTED THIS EXPLANATION AT FACE VALUE BUT IN HINDSIGHT IT PROBABLY WAS PREMATURE RUST. I CAN'T FIND ANY INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET THAT SUGGESTS SPRAYING CLAY IS ACTUALLY A REAL PRACTICE. FURTHERMORE, THE CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN CANADA. NOT MUCH RUST CONCERNS BETWEEN CANADA AND THE US. SOMEWHAT PLAUSIBLE IF SHIPPING OVERSEAS. UNLESS SOMEONE INFORMS ME OTHERWISE ON THIS CLAY SPRAYING , I THINK I WAS DUPED. AT FIRST THIS RUST WAS JUST AN ANNOYING COSMETIC BLEMISH BUT IT HAS PROGRESSED TO THE POINT WHERE I AM CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY. *TR
2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA AWD WITH SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING A COLLISION. VEHICLE WAS STRUCK, BY A SECOND VEHICLE TRAVELING AT A HIGHER SPEED THAN SUBJECT VEHICLE WAS MOVING, BROADSIDE. THE IMPACT WAS AT 90% TO LEFT SIDE OF VEHICLE. DRIVER DOOR, CENTER POST AND REAR PASSENGER DOOR SEVERELY DAMAGED. ROCKER PANEL ALSO SEVERELY DAMAGED. CENTER POST ENTERED PASSENGER COMPARTMENT APPROXIMATELY 5+ INCHES. DRIVERS SEAT DAMAGED. DRIVER EXPERIENCED INJURY TO LEFT SIDE OF HEAD, SHOULDER, BACK, LEFT HAND AND LEFT ANKLE. LEFT CALF OF LEG AND WHIP LASH TO NECK. DRIVER WAS WEARING SEAT AND SHOULDER BELT AT TIME OF COLLISION. VEHICLE DAMAGE SEVERE AND DETERMINED TO BE TOTALED BY INSURANCE COMPANY ADJUSTER. *NM
MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA HAD A FIRE IN THE REAR SIDE WALL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE CAR WAS PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND AN INVESTIGATOR WAS SENT. THE INVESTIGATOR TOLD ME THE "HOTTEST PART" OR STARTING POINT FOR THE FIRE SEEMS TO BE IN OR AROUND THE REAR OF THE MOTOR FOR THE REAR WIPER BLADES WHICH WAS INSIDE THE SIDE WALL OF THE CAR. I RECEIVED A FORM LETTER FROM CHRYSLER STATING THE REPORT WAS INCONCLUSIVE AND THEY HAVE NO LIABILITY. I DO NOT AGREE WITH THEIR REPORT AND HAVE REQUESTED A COPY OF THEIR INVESTIGATOR'S REPORT WHICH THEY HAVE REFUSED TO SEND. THE IS NO WAY THIS FIRE AND DAMAGED CAUSED BY THIS FIRE WAS ANYTHING OTHER THAN A DEFECT OR PROBLEM WITH EITHER WIRING OR A MOTOR INSIDE THE SIDE WALL OF THE CAR. *TR
CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL 04V13000 CONCERNING TRANSMISSION FAILURE. NO PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. *AK
THE TRANSMISSION WAS MAKING A CLANKING NOISE. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND HAD THE TRANSFER CASE REPLACED ON TWO OCCASIONS, YET THE PROBLEM RECURRED. THE CONSUMER LATER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, WHO WAS UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM. *AK THE NOISE WAS HEARD WHEN SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF PARK, DRIVE AND REVERSE, THE VEHICLE LEAKED A BROWNISH COLOR FLUID AND THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD GO IN AND OUT. *SC
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA - PURCHASED RIVER OAKS CHRYSLER HOUSTON:1) I HAVE HAD ON-GOING MINOR PROBLEMS WITH THIS VECHICLE SINCE I PURCHASED IT. THESE PROBLEMS HAVE REQUIRED FOR ME TO TAKE THE CAR IN TO THE RIVER OAKS CHRYSLER SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON A REGULAR BASIS DURING THE PAST YEAR (LEMON?). 2) YESTERDAY OCTOBER 18, I EXPERIENCED ONE OF THE WORST PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR. I WAS LEAVING MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND WAS AT A STOP SIGN. I STARTED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN WHEN I HEARD A LOUD NOISE AS IF METAL WAS BREAKING AND CRACKING. THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. I HAD TO GRAB ONTO THE STEERING WHEEL VERY HARD TO CONTROL IT. I HAD TROUBLE STEERING IT AS THE WHEELS DID NOT SEEM TO WANT TO MOVE. I WAS ABLE TO PULL IT TO THE SIDE AND GET ASSISTANCE (I FEEL FORTUNATE THAT IT DID NOT HAPPEN ON THE HGWAY, AS THE CONSEQUENCES WOULD PROBABLY NOT HAVE BEEN GOOD). THE CAR HAS 20,000 MILES. I DO NOT TRAVEL FAR AS I AM A STAY HOME MOM AND MOST OF MY DRIVING IS DOING ERRANDS AND TAKING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO RIVER OAKS, CHRYSLER IN HOUSTON WHERE THE CAR IS SITTING IN THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THE LATEST I HEARD WAS THAT THE AXLE BROKE. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS IS A 1 YEAR OLD CAR AND IT HAD A MAJOR FAILURE SUCH AS THIS ONE. SO MANY THINGS HAVE GONE WRONG WITH THIS VECHICLE THAT I FIND IT UNRELIABLE AND UNSAFE AND I HATE FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ELSE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER. THIS COMPLAINT RELATES TO MY PROFESSIONAL OBSERVATIONS CONCERNING TAIL-LIGHT VISIBILITY DEFICIENCIES ON CHRYSLER PACIFICA VEHICLES (I'M AN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATOR AND FORENSIC PHOTOGRAPHER). THE TAIL LIGHT DESIGN ON PACIFICA VEHICLES IS LARGE, HOWEVER, THE AMOUNT OF RED LIGHT ACTUALLY TRANSMITTED THROUGH THE TAILLIGHT IS ONLY A THIN CIRCLE. FURTHERMORE, THE CIRCLE OF RED LIGHT CAN ONLY BE SEEN WHEN DIRECTLY BEHIND THE VEHICLE...FROM ANY OFF-AXIS POSITION, SUCH AS IN THE NEXT LANE, ONLY A SMALL ARC OF RED LIGHT CAN BE SEEN. IN BRIGHT DAYLIGHT CONDITIONS, BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE UNLESS ONE IS FOLLOWING DIRECTLY BEHIND THE PACIFICA; AT NIGHT, THE TAIL LIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ARE EASIER TO SEE, BUT REMAIN EXTREMELY HARD TO SEE IN COMPARISON TO ALMOST EVERY OTHER VEHICLE ON THE ROAD. THAT IS, OTHER VEHICLES EASILY TRANSMIT THE RED ILLUMINATION ACROSS THE ENTIRE REAR QUADRANT OF 180-DEGREES OR MORE, SO VEHICLES FOLLOWING CAN SEE THE LIGHTS NO MATTER WHAT LANE THEY ARE IN BEHIND A VEHICLE. THE PACIFICA ONLY TRANSMITS THE FULL EXTENT OF RED ILLUMINATION ACROSS A VERY NARROW RANGE...MAYBE 10 OR 20 DEGREES...DIRECTLY BEHIND THE PACIFICA. OFF-AXIS VEHICLES IN THE SAME OR ADJACENT LANES DO NOT SEE THE FULL RED ILLUMINATION, AS THE TAIL LIGHT DESIGN HAS SOME TYPE OF PRISM EFFECT THAT LIMITS THE TRANSMISSION OF THIS LIGHT ACROSS THE ENTIRE REAR QUADRANT. I'LL BE HAPPY TO PHOTOGRAPH THIS DESIGN ISSUE IF NEEDED FOR YOUR INVESTIGATION.*AK
I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM CARMAX 08/03, WITH 500 MILES ON IT. AT THE END OF 09/04, WITH 2200 MILES, I BEGAN TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL LIGHT. I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE FOR THE FUEL LIGHT ON 10/6, 10/11, 12/18, AND 12/27/04. EACH TIME SERVICE SAID IT WAS DUE TO A GAS CAP NOT BEING TIGHTEND, AND OR GAS WAS BEING TOPPED OFF. THEY DIDN'T TELL ME THEY REPLACED A C34 FUEL LINE CLIP ON 12/18, AND ON 12/27 THEY REPLACED THE EGR SYSTEM. I CONTINUED TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS 1/11 AND 1/17/05. ON 1/17/05 THEY REPLACED A DETECTOR FOR GENERAL EVAP SYSTEM FAILURE/REPLACE NVLD PUMP. 1/25/05, SERVICE AGAIN FOR THE HEADLAMPS NOT WORKING, THEY FOUND NO PROBLEM. I WAS NOT TOLD THEY DID A RECALL ON 10/06/04 ON THE AUTO TRANSMISSION POWERTRAIN CONTROLE MODULE. I FOUND OUT, VIA THE INTERNET THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE HEADLAMPS, AND THEY COULD GO OUT ANYTIME. I RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL IN THE MAIL ON THE SEAT CONTROL MODULE AND DRIVERS DOOR HANDLE, SO I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR BOTH RECALLS 03/31/05. I GOT HOME THAT EVENING, AND NOW I CAN'T GET INTO THE CAR THROUGH THE DRIVER'S SIDE! THIS WHOLE CAR IS A LEMON AND SHOULD BE RECALLED! *AK
FAILURE OF LEFT OUTER TIE ROD END (WORN AND EXCESSIVELY LOOSE) WAS DISCOVERED WHEN CAR WAS BEING SERVICED FOR STRANGE FRONT-END NOISES. SERVICE DEPARTMENT INDICATED THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE LEFT OUTER TIE ROD END HAD TO BE REPLACED AFTER ONLY 18,911 MILES. *NM
WHILE DRIVING, THE CONSUMER WAS FLAGGED DOWN BY ANOTHER MOTORIST ON THE HIGHWAY AND WAS INFORMED THAT SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE PASSENGER 'S SIDE TIRE. THE CONSUMER PULLED OVER. THE PASSENGER 'S SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. MICHELIN, ENERGY MXV4 PLUS, 235/6517 RADIAL XE, DOT AP87W3XX2003. AUTO ACCIDENT. 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC. A CAR ATTEMPTING TO CUT IN FRONT OF NON-MOVING CHRYSLER PACIFICA FROM RIGHT SIDE, SEVERELY IMPACTED PACIFICA ON FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF PACIFICA. IT IMMEDIATELY SURGED FORWARD AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND, DESPITE HAVING BOTH FEET PRESSING ON THE BRAKE, PACIFICA COULD NOT BE STOPPED UNTIL, IN DESPERATION, DRIVER THROUGH THE PACIFICA INTO PARK. WHILE TRAVELING WEST ON I-80, (THE OHIO TURNPIKE) MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA, LOST ALL POWER FROM THE POWER TRAIN. THIS HAPPENED SUDDENLY,WITH NO PRIOR INDICATIONS OF A PROBLEM, IN HEAVY TRUCK TRAFFIC, WHILE TRAVELLING AT 75 MPH. *AK IT REQUIRED OVER FOUR DAYS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, AS THE TECHNICIAN DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD NO PRESSURE. THIS WAS CAUSED BY A BURNED-OUT ROUTER IN THE TRANSMISSION PUMP. I WAS WAS SHOWN THE REPLACEMENT PART AND NOTED THE INTERIOUR WAS MACHINED TO A INTIRERLY DIFFERENT CONFIGURATION. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE INITIAL PRODUCTION RUNS ALL HAD THIS DESIGN FAULT. THE TECH. THAT REPAIRED THE AUTO ,ALSO STATED THA THEY WERE INFORMED OF THIS AT THEIR TRAINING SCHOOLS. CHYRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THIS DEFECT..A VERY COSTLY RECALL, I'M SURE. THE CONSEQUENCES OF A FAILURE OF THIS NATURE IS NOT VERY DIFFICULT TO FORSEE, AN INEXPERPERIENCED DRIVER PASSING A LINE OF CARS ON A TWO LANE ROAD, OR ,IN MY CASE, TWO DAYS PRIOR TO THE SUDDEN FAILURE, WE WERE DRIVING IN THE STEEP MONTAINS OF TENNESSEE, AND NORTH CAROLINA IN FAIRLY HEAVY , FAST MOVING TRAFFIC. THE AUTO WAS REPAIRED AT NO COST TO ME, HOWEVER I NO LONGER HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THE CAR, DUE TO THE COMPLEXITY OF THE REPAIR, AND THE CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGE THAT THE FAULITY DESIGN HAD ON THE AUTO BOTH PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, DURING THE FAILURE, BUT ALSO DUE TO THE COMPLEXITY OF THE REPAIR
AIR CONDITIONER MAKES HISSING SOUND EVERY FEW SECONDS. DOOR SEALS WERE NOT FITTED PROPERLY, LET WATER LEAK INTO CAR. SEAT MODULE FAILED AFTER ONLY A COUPLE OF WEEKS.*AK

WHILE ENTERING A CONSTRUCTION ZONE ON INTERSTATE 95 ON MAYLAND NEAR PERRYVILLE, I WAS TRAVELLING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH AND WAS STRUCK FROM THE REAR BY A MAZDA 6 TRAVELING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED. THERE WERE NO SKID MARKS. WHEN MY CAR, A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WAS STRUCK IN THE REAR, THE DRIVERS SEATBACK FAILED AND I WAS THROWN IN THE BACK SEAT AGAINST MY 14 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. THE SEATBACK CRUSHED HER KNEE AND SHE WAS TAKEN TO TEH HOSPITAL. THE PASSANGER SIDE FRONT SEAT ALSO FAILED IN A SIMILAR FACHION AND MY WIFE SLIDE INTO MY 12 YEAR OLD, SHE WAS NOT INJURED. MY 9 YEAR OLD WAS IN THE THIRD ROW SEAT WHICH WAS BROKEN IN THE CRUMPLE OF THE REAR, AND WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL AS SHE WAS COMPLAINING OF SHORTNESS OF BREATH, SHE IS OKAY NOW AS I WRINTE THIS.*AK

AUTOMATIC MEMORYY SETTINGS FOR OUTSIDE MIRRORS DO NOT RETURN TO THEIR "SET" POSITIONS. I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE TO 2 DEALERS. NEITHER COULD FIND THE CAUSE.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED. AS A RESULT, VEHICLE STALLED, AND CONSUMER HAD TO VEER OF THE ROAD. A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND WAS REPAIRED, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
LESS THAN 24 HOURS OF TAKING POSSESION THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT GOT STUCK IN THE RECLINE POSITION MAKING IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE.*AK
CAR HAS DIED WHILE DRIVING ON THREE OCCASIONS. THE FIRST TWO WERE WHILE DRIVING 45 MILES PER HOUR AND CAR STALLED, ALL SYSTEMS DIED. THE THIRD OCCASION THE CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON HIGHWAY WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PASS A CAR. THE VEHICLE IS 6 MONTHS OLD AND HAS UNDER 8,000 MILES. DEALER HAS SAID PROBLEM WAS "FIXED" AFTER DOWNLOADING SOME NEW SOFTWARE BUT PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED. THIS COULD RESULT IN A TERRIBLE CRASH!*AK
MY PACIFICA HAS HAD POWER MEMORY SEATS REPAIRED 5 TIMES. MY AIR COMPRESSOR REPAIRED X2. A "DAMPENER" PLACED TO TRY AND MINIMIZE THE NOISE FROM THE A/C. THE DASH ELECTRONIC MODULE REPLACED X1. THE WHEEL PLASTIC COVERING JUST CAME OFF WHILE DRIVING. MY TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS HAVE HAD TO BE RESET X2. THE EXHAUST MADE A RATTLING NOISE THAT HAD TO BE REPAIRED. THE RIGHT FRONT BUMPER HAD TO BE TIGHTEN AS EXCESSIVE WIND NOISE WAS HEARD BY SERVICE DEALER. IT STILL MAKES AN AUDIBLE CLICKING, KNOCKING TYPE NOISE ON ACCELERATION THAT THEY CLAIM TO BE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE. IT HAS A LOUD POP ON SHARP RIGHT TURNS. AND THE A/C STILL CYCLE ABRUBTLY AND LOUDLY APPROX EVERY 30-45 SECONDS. I HAVE HAD THE CAR SINCE AUG 2003 AND CHRYSLER REFUSES TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBLITY AND ALLOW ME ANOTHER VEHICLE WITHOUT OBTAINING A LAWYER. I CLEARLY EXCEEDS THE MINIMUM CRITERIA FOR THE LEMON LAW. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN A HUGE INCONVENIENCE TO MY FAMILY AND I. CHRYSLER STATES THERE IS NOTHING TO BE REPAIRED ON MY VEHICLE AND WILL NOT HELP ME IN ANY WAY. I LOVE THE VEHICLE WHEN IT IS PROBLEM FREE WICH IS RARE AND I JUST WANT THEM TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND STOP GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND. IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED WAY TO MANY TIMES ALREADY.*AK
REMOTE FOB IS INTEGRATED IN KEY HAS A SMALL HOLE FOR THE KEY LOOP SPRING. WHEN DRIVING ON A LONG TRIP, I ADJUSTED POSITIONS ON LEGS AND BUMPED THE KEYS THAT HANG DOWN. DUE TO SMALL HOLE, THE HANGING KEYS DON'T FALL OUT OF WAY, BUT RATHER CREATE A RIGID LINK THAT CREATES THE KEY TO TURN FROM "ON" TO "OFF" AND LOCKS STEERING WHEEL. FORTUNATELY, WHEN IT HAPPENED, I NOTICED IT RIGHT AWAY AND WAS ON A STRAIGHT ROAD (BUT GOING 65 MPH WITH A LOCKED STEERING WHEEL). *JB

I HAVE TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE GAS MILEAGE THAT MY VEHICLE IS GETTING. IT IS SUPPOSED TO GET 17 IN TOWN AND 24 HIGHWAY. I AM ONLY GETTING 12.8 IN TOWN AND 13 ON THE HIGHWAY. THEY TELL ME TO WAIT UNTIL IT GETS TO 5,000 MILES AND IT WILL GET BETTER. WELL, I'M AT 4,660 AND IT IS STILL BAD!! DEFINITELY NOT THE MILEAGE POSTED ON THE DEALERSHIP PAPERS IN THE WINDOW OF MY CAR WHEN I PURCHASED IT 5 MONTHS AGE. PURCHASED CHRYSLER PACIFICA 2004 6-4-04. IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE BEGAN TO MAKE A LOUD CHIRPING/SQUEAKING NOISE. BOUGHT IN FOR REPAIR 6-10 (144 MILES). SERVICE ADVISED DEFECT HAD BEEN REPAIRED ( NEW BELT ). PICKED UP CAR ON 6-14-04 NOISE WAS STILL VERY EVIDENT/NOT FIXED. ON 6-15 REPORTED DEFECT WAS STILL NOT FIXED. 6-16-04 DROPPED OFF CAR FOR SAME DEFECT (268 MILES). 6-19 ADVISED THEY HAD CORRECTED DEFECT( REPLACED BELT AND SHIMMIED POWER STEERING PUMP). PICKED UP 6-19 NOT FIXED. DROPPED OFF THIRD TIME ON 6-22 (367 MILES). 6-24 SERVICE DEPARTMENT ADVISED FIXED CAR(FILED REP ADVISED SHIM POWER STEERING PUMP/ PULLEY). REMOVED ENGINE MOUNT AND POWER STEERING PUMP. PICKED UP CAR 6-26 STILL MAKING LOUD CHIRPING NOISE. NOISE WAS CONSTANT. BROUGHT IN MY CAR FOR 4TH TIME FOR SAME DEFECT. DROPPED OFF CAR 6-30. AS OF TODAY, DEALER IS CLAIMING THEY ARE STILL WORKING ON CAR AND CANNOT FIX DEFECT. THEY NEED MORE TIME. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS DEFECT AND UNDERSTAND THERE WAS A BULLETIN RELEASED (10005991) ON FEB. 17, 2004 THAT SOUNDS VERY MUCH LIKE THE DEFECT I AM REPORTING TO DEALER/SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I FEAR DRIVING THE CAR AS I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS AND CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE DEALER/SERVICE DEPARTMENT CANNOT FIX THIS DEFECT. AFTER HAVING THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE REPROGRAMMED, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND STALLED. TRAVELING EAST ON I80 IN ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ APPROXIMATE MILE MARKER 37. HEARD A LOUD BANG, MOON ROOF SHATTERED AND AS SHADE WAS OPEN, BROKEN MOON ROOF GLASS FELL INTO PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. PULLED OFF HIGHWAY TO SHOULDER AND THE REMAINING GLASS AROUND PERIMETER OF MOON ROOF LOOKED AS IF IT EXPLODED UPWARD. THERE WERE BROKEN GLASS PIECES FOUND ALONG THE TRACKS OF THE VEHICLES ROOF RACK. THE WEATHER AND HIGHWAY WAS CLEAR AND DRY, TEMPERATURE IN THE 40'S. THERE WAS NO APPARENT OBJECT THAT STRUCK THE VEHICLE.*AK
