SUB FRAME RUSTED
I JUST PURCHASED MY VEHICLE A MONTH AGO AND I ALREADY HAVE ENGINE CRADLE CORROSION I WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND WAS TOLD IT CAN SNAP AT ANY MINUTE WHICH CAN CAUSE FATALITIES OR SERIOUS INJURIES. I WAS ALSO TOLD MY VEHICLE HAS NO RESALE VALUE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. I WAS DRIVING ON CITY EXPRESSWAY AND STREETS AND NOTICED IT SOUNDED FUNNY DRIVING TOOK IT IN TO GET LOOKED AT AND THE MECHANIC EXPLAINED THE ISSUE WAS SERIOUS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE GAUGES ON THE VEHICLE MOVED UP AND DOWN INDEPENDENTLY WHILE THE ENGINE SEIZED. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ALSO OPERATED INDEPENDENTLY BY DISPLAYING INACCURATE READINGS. THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V432000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER AND GINN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE (5190 US-278, COVINGTON, GA 30014, 770-679-2202) WERE NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 134,000. *DT THE CONSUMER STATED THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL SENDER UNIT FAILED. *TP
I CAN'T COMPLETELY FILL MY FUEL TANK. AT 1/2 TANK IT BOTTOMS OUT TO EMPTY. THE FUEL GAUGE IS COMPLETELY UNRELIABLE.WHEN MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN WHEN THE FUEL IS LOW IT WILL STALL AND SPUTTER. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH THAT THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP RIGHT AFTER I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE I RAN OUT OF FUEL ON A TRIP TO OHIO FROM ILLINOIS BUT IT DIDN'T FIX THE ISSUE. I ONLY DRIVE IT IN TOWN BECAUSE I'M AFRAID OF RUNNING OUT OF FUEL. APPARENTLY THIS IS VERY COMMON WITH THIS VEHICLE AND I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. THIS ISSUE COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, SOMEONE TO BE STRANDED IN EXTREME COLD/HEAT. IT'S UNRELIABLE AND A MAJOR THREAT TO SOMEONE'S SAFETY. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE ASHAMED.
VEHICLE SHUTS OFF UNEXPECTEDLY, GAS GAUGE SUDDENLY DROPS TO EMPTY, VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY REGISTER INVALID KEY FOB. VEHICLE HAS SUDDENLY STOPPED ON CITY STREET 5 TIMES IN PASS 3 MOS. RESEARCHED YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL, FOUND THERE IS A RECALL. CALLED DEALERSHIP, THEY STATE MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL. I FEEL CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. CAN'T AFFORD REPAIR TO PCM, NOR TCM. WOULD COST OVER 1,000 DOLLARS AT DEALERSHIP. CAR NOT REPAIRED AS OF 7-24-2017
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL CRACKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS CRACKED AND RUSTED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 205,000.
PURCHASED A USED PACIFICA 2006 AND HAD OIL CHANGED AND FROM FURTHER WORK BECAUSE OF STRIPED OIL PLUG DISCOVERED SUB FRAME COMPLETELY ROTTED. HAVING TO LOAN MONEY FROM FAMILY, HAS CAUSED A HARDSHIP ON MY WIFE AND I AS WE ARE BOTH ON DISABILITY.
MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA SEEMS TO HAVE SOME VERY COMMON AND RELATED ISSUES TO AN EXISTING RECALL. MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCES ALL KIND OF ISSUES RELATED TO A FAULTY FUEL PUMP/TANK DESIGN AND POSSIBLY SOFTWARE ISSUES ALSO. MY VEHICLE CAN BE VERY HARD TO START. MY VEHICLE CAN SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. (NO OTHER KNOWN ISSUES) MY VEHICLE TENDS TO THINK THE GAS CAP IS BAD. DISPLAYING GASCAP IN THE ODOMETER AREA. WE EXPERIENCE POWER LOSS, STALLS, POOR FUEL ECONOMY, FUEL CAPOR SMELL ON OCCASION THAT COULD IGNITE, IF FOR ANY REASON THE FUEL SYSTEM IS SLIGHTLY OVERFILLED BY EVEN TEN CENTS WORTH OF FUEL IT CAN POOR FUEL ONTO THE GROUND. THIS HAPPENS ON TOP OF THE TANK. NOT AT THE FILLER HOSE. CHECK ENGIN LIGHT CODE POINTS TO EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN AUGUST 2005. I BELIEVE THE FUEL PUMP MODULE IS BAD AS WELL AS POSSIBLY SOFTWARE. IF YOU DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH YOU WILL FIND THIS CAR IS KNOW TO HAVE EVAP SYSTEM AND FUEL SYSTEM ISSUES. LOTS OF THEM. ONE THAT COMES TO MIND IS A CONNECTOR ON THE PUMP OR MODEL CRACKING AND ALLOWING FUEL /AIR TO ESCAPE. I AM TERRIFIED MY CAR MIGHT BLOW UP WITH MY CHILDREN IN IT. I CAN'T GIVE EXACT DATES BECAUSE THIS HAPPENS ALL OF THE TIME. EVAP CODES RETURN, FUEL SMELLS, POOR ENGINE PERFORMANCE POWER LOSS, IF IT DOES SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING IT BECOMES HARD TO STEER. ETC ETC
2006 PACIFICA WITH 105,000 MILES. TOOK IN FOR SERVICE AND MECHANIC FOUND BADLY CORRODED ENGINE CRADLE. I CAN PEEL THE RUST AWAY AND PUT MY FINGERS IN THE HOLES AND GAPS IN THE CENTER SUPPORT TIE IN. IN ADDITION TO STRESS CRACKS IN THE LH SIDE OF THE ENGINE SUPPORT. DEALER TOLD ME NO WARRANTY COVERAGE, NO RECALL. CANT AFFORD REPAIR AND CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. FRAME RUSTED OUT AFTER ONLY 11 YEARS OLD!! WHAT HAPPENED TO "MADE IN AMERICA" STOOD FOR QUALITY AND BEING A GOOD THING.
CAR BEGAN TO MAKE LOUD, ABRUPT KNOCKING NOISE FROM RIGHT SIDE, PASSENGER FRONT OF VEHICLE. WE TOOK IT TO THREE SEPARATE REPAIR SHOPS FOR EVALUATION AND AT ALL THREE REPAIRS SHOPS WERE TOLD THAT OUR ENGINE CRADLE WAS SO BADLY ROTTED AND RUSTED THAT THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE. IT WAS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AS THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION CAN BOTH DROP OUT OF THE VEHICLE AT ANY MOMENT WITHOUT WARNING. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE TO CHRYSLER AND THEY ARE NOT ASSISTING CURRENT OWNERS WITH REPAIR.
SPEEDOMETER IS READING 30+ MILES OVER THE ACTUAL SPEED. ORIGINAL RIMS AND TIRES ON CARE NO TRANSMISSION ISSUES.
A-FRAME ON CAR HAS RUSTED OUT WHICH AT ANY TIME COULD SNAP CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE TO DROP WHICH WILL CAUSE THE RIGHT PASSENGER WHEEL AXLE AND BEARING TO BREAK AND SNAP OFF WHICH IS A HAZARD. ALSO EMERGENCY PARKING BREAK HAS RUSTED OUT OF NOWHERE AND FELL INTO THE DRUM OF BACK WHEEL AND RUBS CAUSING A HAZARD AND LOUD NOISE., CHRYSLER COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY EITHER ONE OF THESE THINGS HAPPENED WHEN NEITHER ARE BEING USED AND THE CAR WAS PURCHASED CERTIFIED NEW USED FROM DEALER 5YERS AGO. ALL OF THIS WAS DISCOVERED WHILE DRIVING AND I HEARD A SNAP AND A RATTLING SOUND WHILE DRIVING AND DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO A SHOP AND THEY FOUND THE BIGGER PROBLEM.
ENGINE MOUNT/CRADLE HAS RUSTED THROUGH. THE CAR DOESN'T HAVE 100,000 MILES YET. THIS ISSUE PROBABLY STARTED YEARS AGO AND NO MECHANIC NOTIFIED ME BEFORE THE WARRANTY RAN OUT. I UNDERSTAND THAT CHRYSLER ISN'T COVERING 2006 MODELS EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THIS IS AN ISSUE. I WAS TOLD CONTINUING TO DRIVE THE CAR WAS DANGEROUS, BUT THIS IS A VERY COSTLY FIX - MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH - CONSIDERING CHRYSLER WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR NOT COATING THE ENGINE CRADLE TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING. IT IS AFFECTING STEERING AND HANDLING OF CAR AS WELL.
WE TOOK OUR CAR IN FOR A FRONT END ALIGNMENT AND THANK GOD WE DID. OUR MOTOR WAS MOMENTS FROM FALLING OUT OF THE CAR! THERE WAS SO MUCH RUST AND CORROSION THAT THE SHIMMY AND PULL AND LUNGING WE FELT WAS THE WEIGHT OF THE MOTOR COMING LOOSE! THE FACT THAT THIS HAS BEEN A RECALL ON CHRYSLER PACIFICAS OF ADJACENT YEARS AND DUE TO THE NUMBER OF ONLINE COMPLAINTS WE FOUND WHEN SEARCHING FOR A RECALL SHOULD BE ENOUGH OF A REASON FOR CHRYSLER TO APPLY A RECALL BUT APPARENTLY THEY WANT TO WAIT UNTIL PEOPLE DIE BECAUSE THEIR ENGINE FALLS OUT OF THEIR CAR GOING 70 MPH ON A HIGHWAY. WE ENDED UP PAYING ABOUT $2500 TO HAVE IT FIXED. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. A SAFETY ISSUE LIKE THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN DEALT WITH YEARS AGO.
ENGINE CRADLE ROT DISCOVERED AT STATE INSPECTION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING IN A STORM, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND POWER WINDOWS FAILED, AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000. UPDATED 06/21/17*LJ
MY VEHICLE HAS FAILED NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE SAFETY INSPECTION BECAUSE OF SUB FRAME RUST. I AM TOLD THAT THIS COULD RESULT IN A FAILURE THAT COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY LOOSE HANDLING ABILITY OR LOSS OF THE ENGINE MOTOR-MOUNTS ABILITY TO HOLD THE ENGINE IN THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS BEEN ESTIMATED TO BE A VERY COSTLY REPAIR. MY CONCERN IS THAT PREMATURE FAILURE HAS COST ME HARM TO EITHER DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE I LIKE IT OR EVEN TO TRADE IT BECAUSE OF THIS UNEXPECTED FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT FRAME WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,495.
WENT TO CHRYSLER DEALER FOR OIL CHANGE. WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTED, WHERE CENTER STRUCTURE MEETS SIDE ARMS OF CRADLE IS SEVERELY RUSTED. CRACKS ARE FORMING ON SIDE ARMS. ADVISED CRADLE WILL EVENTUALLY FAIL. ESTIMATED COST TO REPAIR $4,000-5,000. RECOMMENDED GETTING RID OF THE CAR (NOT SURE WHO I WOULD GET RID OF IT TO AS IT IS BASICALLY WORTHLESS AT THIS POINT). DEALER WOULDN'T EVEN RECOMMEND SELLING ME AN OIL CHANGE 4 PACK BECAUSE THEY DON'T THINK THE CAR WILL LAST THAT LONG. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 133,000 MILES ON IT AND WE HAD ANTICIPATED DRIVING IT FOR MANY MORE YEARS.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING A FRONT END ALIGNMENT, THE TECHNICIAN DISCOVERED THAT THE SUBFRAME AND ENGINE CRADLE WERE SEVERELY RUSTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
HAD TO GET TRANSMISSION REBUILT-AND THE TRANSMISSION MOUNT REPLACE-CATALAC CONVERTER REPLACE--THAN A THUGGING AND CLANGING STARTED--ANOTHER MECHANIC REPLACED BOTH TIRE INNER AND OUTER RODS REPLACED, AND NOW MECHANIC IS SAYING THE SUBFRAME IS CRACKED AND CORROADED AND MAY HAVE TO HAVE SUB FRAME MOUNTS REPLACED
ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTED THROUGH. WHERE CENTER STRUCTURE MEETS SIDE ARMS OF CRADLE IT IS SEVERELY RUSTED. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 64,890 MILES ON IT.
TAKATA RECALL, I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE WHEN IT JUST CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.I POPPED THE HOOD TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG,AND UNDERNEATH MY HOOD,SPARKS WAS FLYING EVERYWHERE.I TRIED JUMPING MY CAR TO GET IT HOME AND IT MELTED THE BATTERY CABLES
I WAS ON FREEWAY DOING 60_70 MILES PER HOUR WHEN I NOTICED MY CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS NOT ACCELERATING AND GAS PEDAL FELT STIFF LIKE WHEN CAR IS OFF. I HAD MY WHOLE FAMILY IN CAR AND I COULD OF WRECKED IF I DIDN'T NOTICE IN TIME TO PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED IT SOME HOW BEFORE WE GOT REAR ENDED. I GOT OFF FREEWAY SOMEHOW AND TURNED CAR ON AND OFF AGAIN A FEW TIMES AND IT SEEMED LIKE IT WAS A ONE TIME THING . A FEW MILES LATER IT DID SAME THING AND I WAS STALLED OUT IN MIDDLE OF ON COMING TRAFFIC . CARS BRAKED AND SWERVED OUT OF MY WAY TO AVOID REAR ENDING US . MY CHILDREN WERE SCARED CAUSE OF THIS HAPPENING OUT OF THE BLUE. I NOW HAVE NO DESIRE TO EVEN DRIVE MY CAR WITH ANY OF MY FAMILY IN IT INCASE THIS HAPPENS AGAIN. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER BUT THEY CLAIMED MY VIN WASN'T PART OF THE F44 RECALLS BUT I KNOW IT IS SAME ISSUES...I WILL BE TAKING CAR TO CHRYSLER FIRST THING IN MORNING TO LEAVE THEM CAR TO FIND OUT WHY MY FAMILY ALMOST GOT IN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS ISSUE. SO IN TOTAL IT STALLED OUT ON ME 6 TIMES TWICE ON FREEWAY THE REST ON CITY STREETS JUST TO GET HOME ....THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT COULD OF KILLED EVERYONE IN MY VEHICLE IF I DIDN'T REACT FAST ENOUGH TO AVOID THAT FROM HAPPENING..
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS PREMATURE RUST AND CORROSION, WHICH DETERIORATED THE QUALITY OF THE ENGINE CRADLE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE TO DETERMINE IF THEY COULD PROVIDE A SOLUTION AND DETERMINE IF THE SAME OEM PART WAS IN PRODUCTION OR IF A NEW MANUFACTURER DESIGNED THE ENGINE CRADLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED AN ABNORMAL NOISE IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS DETERIORATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
I BOUGHT MY CAR AT A DEALERSHIP PUT MONEY DOWN, IT PASSED INSPECTION IN OCTOBER OF 2015. I HAD IT REINSPECTED IN JUNE OF 2016 THEN NOT ONLY 8 MONTHS LATER THE WHOLE BOTTOM OF MY CAR WAS ALL ROTTED OUT, I HAD IT LOOKED AT, I WAS TOLD IT SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN INSPECTED 8 MONTHS BEFORE AND THIS WAS FEBRUARY OF 2017 WHEN I WAS TOLD THIS. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER THAT I BOUGHT IT FROM BUT FAILED, TALKED WITH ONE OF THE OWNERS OF THE DEALERSHIP BUT FAILED. I'M ON DISABILITY AND I COULDN'T AFFORD TO GET ANOTHER CAR BUT HAD TO BECAUSE OF DR APPOINTMENTS ECT. SO THIS INCIDENT PUT ME IN THE ARMS OF SEVERE FINANCIAL HARDSHIP. FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD BY A COUPLE GARAGES MY CAR WAS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE, WITH THE SUB FRAME BEING ROTTED OUT, THE ROCKER BEING ALL RUSTED ALL THE WAY THROUGH I BELIEVE THE REINSPECTED AN UNSAFE VEHICLE FROM THE DATE I HAD IT REINSPECTED BY THE DEALERSHIP. IF YOU NEED REPAIR PAPERWORK FROM THE DEALER AND FROM ANOTHER SOURCE I DO HAVE HOW MUCH AND WHAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED.

TOOK MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND MY MECHANIC SAID THAT I HAVE A HUGE RUST PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE CRADLE. DID SOME ONLINE RESEARCH IN CASE I MISSED A RECALL, DID NOT FIND A RECALL. BUT DID FIND A TON OF COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER CHRYSLER PACIFICA OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.
THE SUB-FRAME HAS AND IS RUSTING FROM INSIDE OUT WITH HOLES AND SUCH, I WOULD THINK THIS IS A TRUE SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE ON RECALL SEEING HOW IT WON'T PASS SAFETY INSPECTION IN NEW YORK STATE. I'VE NOTICE THAT THERE ARE HUNDREDS COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME ISSUE, WHAT GIVES? THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE I USE FOR WORK COMMUTE AND SUCH AND AT THIS MOMENT IT HAS 145121 MILES ON IT AND I CAN'T AFFORD A NEW CAR.

TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF RUST ON FRAME AND MULTIPLE OPEN HOLES ALLOWING YOU TO SEE THROUGH THE FRAME WERE DISCOVERED WHEN A LOCAL SERVICE CENTER REPLACED THE FRONT STRUTS .SHOCKED THAT PREVIOUS VISIT TO A CHRYSLER DEALER TO REPLACE AN ALTERNATOR MADE NO MENTION OF THE CONDITION OF THE FRAME.
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR I TURNED ON MY TURN SIGNAL TO TURN RIGHT ONTO THE HIGHWAY, AND UPON ACCELERATING MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEEPED AND TURNED ON, THEN AS I TURNED MY WHEEL AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE IT WOULDN'T AND THEN MY CAR DIED. I THEN HAD MY CAR TOWED TO MY HOUSE WHERE IT REMAINS UNTIL I HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH SEVERE ENGINE CRADLE RUST. THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO BE DRIVEN AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
THE ENGINE CRADLE SUB FRAME HAS ROTTED TO THE POINT WHERE THE CAR WILL NOT PASS A NY SAFETY INSPECTION. ALL OTHER FRAME COMPONENTS ARE IN GOOD SHAPE, SO IT BEGS THE QUESTION AS TO WHAT WAS DIFFERENT ABOUT THE MANUFACTURING OF THE SUB-FRAME? THE ISSUE IS REPAIRABLE, BUT IT IS A PRETTY COSTLY FIX (APPROX $2000) AND IT INVOLVES FINDING A REPLACEMENT PART FROM A VEHICLE OUTSIDE OF THOSE STATES THAT ROUTINELY DEAL WITH ROAD SALT IN THE WINTER.
THE FRONT ENGINE CRADLE IS ROTTED WITH HOLE, WHEN DRIVING AND TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENGINE FEELS HAS IT GOING TO FALL OUT.BECAUSE THE CRADLE IS WEEK IT WEARING OUT THE ENGINE MONT.
DRIVING 70MPH ON INTERSTATE, CAR SUDDENLY FEELS AS THOUGH IT IS HYDROPLANING BUT ROAD SURFACE IS DRY, NO CONTROL OVER STEERING. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP WHO SAID REAR SUSPENSION HAD COLLAPSED THE WEIGHT FROM THIS HAD SHREDDED BOTH NEW BACK TIRES DOWN TO STEEL BELT $1200 REPAIR BILL...ALSO UNDERCARRIAGE IS STARTING TO RUST OUT, HAVE SEEN COMPLAINTS OF THIS ON INTERNET..CHRYSLER WILL DO NOTHING. *TR
I HAVE OWNED THIS 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA FWD TOURING MODEL SINCE BRAND NEW. WE LIVE IN MICHIGAN SO OF COURSE THERE ARE WINTER ISSUES ASSOCIATED WITH CARS IN GENERAL. HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE IS IN GREAT CONDITION GARAGE KEPT ALL OF ITS LIFE UNLESS DRIVING, NO SURFACE RUST,ETC ETC. BASICALLY A GREAT CAR. I WENT TO GET THE OIL CHANGED AND THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME BY THE WAY THERE IS A BIG RUT HOLE IN THE SUB FRAME AND YOU MIGHT WANT TO HAVE THAT LOOKED AT. HE ALSO STATED IT LOOKS STRANGE BECAUSE THE REST OF THE CAR IS IN SUCH GREAT SHAPE. I HAD NEW STRUTS AND TIE ROD INSTALLED ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO SO I TOOK IT IN THERE TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT NEXT. I WAS THEN TOLD THIS IS AMAZING, BUT WE HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE ON THESE CHRYSLER PACIFICAS! (RED FLAG). THEY TOLD ME TO CHECK WITH THE DEALER BECAUSE THERE IS PROBABLY A RECALL ON IT. I THEN CALLED THE DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THE SERVICE TECH TOLD ME HE KNOWS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT AND TOOK MY VIN NUMBER OVER THE PHONE. AFTER A FEW MINUTES HE TOLD ME THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS CASE AND UNFORTUNATELY IT DID NOT COVER MY VIN. THEN HE SUGGESTED I CALL CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE TO COMPLAIN AND SEE WHERE IT GETS ME. (NICE). AFTER SPEAKING WITH CHRYSLER AND TOLD THEM THE STORY AND HOW IT BASICALLY RENDERS MY CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE SHE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THERE WAS A WARRANTY FOR A 6 WEEK PERIOD IN 2004 AND I DID NOT QUALIFY. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS ARTICLES ON THE INTERNET NOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND POSSIBLE CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I DRIVE AROUND WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND THIS THING IS A TIME BOMB AND CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ADMIT THERE IS A PROBLEM AND WARN ALL CURRENT OWNERS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR KILLED!
THE FRAME (ENGINE CARRIAGE) IS ROTTING OUT TO THE POINT THAT IT WOULD BE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IT. CHRYSLER WILL NOT HELP EVEN THOUGH THIS PROBLEM AFFECTS THOUSANDS OF PACIFICAS. IT WILL COST AT LEAST $1600 TO REPLACE AND THEN IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN TO THE "NEW" FRAME SINCE IT IS THE SAME PART. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO A 10 YEAR OLD CAR. MY MECHANIC IN 35 YEARS HAS ONLY REPLACED ONE AND IT WASN'T AS BAD AS MINE. ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT CHRYSLER ABOUT THE PROBLEM WERE NOT MET WITH SUCCESS! THERE ARE STORIES AND PICTURES ALL OVER THE INTERNET OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.
'EXCUSE ME, BUT I BELIEVE YOU DROPPED YOUR ENGINE BACK THERE.' SOUNDS RIDICULOUS, RIGHT? AND IT IS ' UNLESS YOU OWN A 2004'08 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WHICH HAS THE DUBIOUS NICKNAME OF 'ENGINE-DROPPER.' OK, I MADE THAT UP ' BUT THOSE CARS DO HAVE A KNOWN ISSUE WHERE THE ENGINE CRADLES RUST, ROT AND SPLIT APART TO THE POINT WHERE THE ENGINE CAN ACTUALLY FALL OUT, SO THAT NICKNAME IS ENTIRELY POSSIBLE. BUT WHY THESE YEARS SPECIFICALLY? AND WHAT IS CHRYSLER DOING TO CORRECT THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM? (SPOILER ALERT: IT'S NOT MUCH)
THE ENGINE CRADLE AND THE SUB FRAME HAS SEVERE CORROSION AND THE MECHANICS TOLD ME IT IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE AND REPAIRING IT WILL REQUIRE MORE THAN $5000. THE CAR ONLY HAS 60K MILES ON IT.
GAS CAP LIGHT ALWAYS REMAIN ON. MY RPM GAUGE IS JUMPING AN ALL OF MY INDICATOR LIGHTS ARE ON. THESE THINGS HAPPEN UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A ROUGH IDLE AND I HAVE TO PUSH A PINK BUTTON TO SHIFT HERS. THE GEARS WILL NOT SHIFT. I SEE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR VEHICLES OF MY BRAND BUT MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. WHEN I HAD MY VEHICLE CHECKED, I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL THAT WILL TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUES THAT I AM HAVING
OUR 2006 PACIFICA WAS MAKING NOISE WHEN TURNING AND WE TOOK IT IN TO BE LOOKED AT. TURNS OUT, THE CROSSMEMBER IS RUSTING THROUGH AND NEEDS REPLACED ASAP BEFORE IT CAUSES MAJOR DAMAGE AND A POTENTIALLY LIFE-THREATENING ACCIDENT. IT IS APPARENTLY A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR MADE FROM 2004-2008, AND IT IS DUE TO CHRYSLER'S NEGLIGENCE. THEY KNEW IT WAS A PROBLEM AND THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING TO RECALL OR REPLACE THE PROBLEM PART OUTSIDE OF A VERY NARROW SWATH OF 7000 CARS. WE ARE SCARED TO DRIVE OUR SMALL CHILDREN IN THIS CAR UNTIL WE GET IT FIXED (AND SPEND $2500 WE DON'T HAVE!)
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2016 THE ENGINE CRADLE RUSTED THROUGH AND THE ENGINE LOWERED AND THE CRADLE ITSELF WAS DRAGGING ALONG THE STREET. MY WIFE WAS LEAVING OUR TOWN OF OWOSSO, MICHIGAN TO GO TO DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS IN LANSING, MICHIGAN ABOUT 35 MILES AWAY. THE PACIFICA HAD 119,101 MILES ON IT AND WAS OTHERWISE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. WE HAD PURCHASED THE CAR FROM A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP ABOUT 15 MILES AWAY ABOUT SEVEN YEARS PRIOR WITH 42,000 MILES ON IT. IT HAD ALWAYS BEEN SERVICED AT THE DEALERSHIP UNTIL THE DEALERSHIP WAS SOLD IN FEBRUARY 2016. WITHOUT REPAIR THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE WAS JUST SCRAP METAL, REPAIR WAS AN ABSOLUTE TO SALVAGE ANY VALUE, THE REPAIR COST $3214.07. *TR
TAKES FOREVER FOR ME TO PUMP GAS IN TO THE VEHICLE IT CAN SAY IT'S EMPTY AND I WILL PUT 15 DOLLARS OF GAS IN IT AND IT WILL REGISTER FULL AND WHEN IT GETS TO A HALF A TANK IT WILL DROP TO EMPTY AS SOON AS IT HITS THAT POINT. PLEASE FIX THIS RECALL

DRIVING HOME FROM WORK A GOOD SAMARITAN PULLED ME OVER AND ADVISED ME THE GAS WAS POURING OUT OF MY CAR, CALLED FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THEY PLUGGED LEAK AND I HAD IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THEY ADVISED ME THERE WAS QUESTIONABLE DAMAGE TO THE TANK AND IT DIDN'T LOOK LIKE ANYTHING WAS RUN OVER OR HIT BUT CORNER OF GAS TANK WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED, LOST 3/4 TANK OF GAS ON ROAD. THE DEALERSHIP LOOKED OVER MY VEHICLE, I CALLED INSURANCE COMPANY TO REPORT INCIDENT. THEY DETERMINED THAT THE GAS TANK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE FUEL NECK FILLER VALVE AND BOTH FUEL PUMPS. I HAD ALL THE SUGGESTED WORK DONE AND TWO WEEKS AFTER HAVING MY CAR BACK I WOULD NOTICE THE TANK GO FROM 1/2 TANK TO EMPTY QUICKLY, NO LEAKING GAS SO I WOULD TRY TO PUT IN GAS AND ONLY ABLE TO PUT IN 2-3 GALLONS AT A TIME, IT THEN SHOOTS FROM EMPTY TO HALF TANK BACK DOWN, BACK UP AND DOWN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND THEY DETERMINED INSTEAD OF THE USED GAS TANK A BRAND NEW ONE WAS NECESSARY. GOT MY CAR BACK ON 12/30 IMMEDIATELY WENT TO PUT GAS IN SINCE THEY HAD TO DRAIN TANK AND ONCE AGAIN THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED. I CANNOT PUT MORE THAN 2-3 GALLONS IN GAUGE FLUCTUATES BETWEEN 1/2 TANK TO EMPTY, RAN OUT OF GAS ON HIGHWAY CAR STALLED IN LEFT LANE LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER GET IT TOWED WHERE THEY TOLD ME IT HAD GAS IN IT, THEY PUT IN 2 GALLONS AT THE DEALERSHIP AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND AM SCARED TO DRIVE AROUND THREE KIDS IN CAR IF IT IS GOING TO STALL. THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH FUEL SYSTEM. CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY ASSIGNED ME A CASE MANAGER AND CASE NUMBER AND PROMISED TO WORK WITH DEALERSHIP TO GET CAR FIXED. I HAVE ALREADY BEEN WITHOUT MY CAR 4 TIMES AND A TOTAL OF 5 WEEK SINCE I BOUGHT CAR ON 9/07/16. I WOULD LOVE A SOLUTION AS I LOVE THE CAR. *TR
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A SIMPLE OIL CHANGE. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE ENGINE CRADLE IS SO RUSTED THAT HE CAN STICK HIS FINGER THROUGH IT. HE SAID IT WAS DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO RUSTING THROUGH TO THE POINT WHERE MY ENGINE COULD FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE!
VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN FOR ALIGNMENT AND I WAS INFORMED THE ENGINE CRADLE IS ROTTED OUT AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. I DID SOME HOMEWORK AND LEARNED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ALL PACIFICA'S. CHRYSLER HAS ONLY REPAIR ROUGHLY 7,000 VEHICLES MADE IS 2004 DURING A ONE MONTH PERIOD. THIS IS A MODEL/YEAR WIDE PROBLEM. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT CURRENTLY PENDING.

WHEN I CALLED CHRYSLER UP TO REPORT THIS ISSUE THEY TOLD ME THAT MY VIN # IS NOT ON THE RECALL AND CAN NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. BUT AS I READ ON HERE CHRYSLER SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I HAVE MY GRANDSON IN MY CAR A LOT OF THE TIME AND I HOPE AND PRAY NOTHING HAPPENS TO EITHER ONE OF US WHILE I AM DRIVING THIS CAR. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO GET THIS FIXED BECAUSE IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR. *TR
