TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENTIRE THEATER SYSTEM FAILED AND THE BACKUP SYSTEM WOULD BECOME STUCK IN CAMERA MODE WHILE DRIVING. THE FAILURE INTERMITTENTLY OCCURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SOFTWARE ON THE TV MONITOR AND THE VIDEO MODULE UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT WERE REPLACED AND UPDATED AT COAST AUTO CENTER CHEVROLET (530 CHETCO AVE, BROOKINGS, OR 97415, (800) 342-9438). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE CONTINUED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SAME DEALER ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE CONTACT WANTED TO KNOW WHY THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V886000 (EQUIPMENT, BACK OVER PREVENTION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NUMEROUS UNKNOWN CASE NUMBERS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 36,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
VEHICLE STALLED OUT WHILE DRIVING. EMITTED A BURNING SMELL. MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SAW SMOKE. OPENED THE HOOD AND SAW THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS GLOWING RED. HUGE RISK OF FIRE.*DT*JB *JB *DT*DT*JB *DT
VEHICLE EXHIBITED "UNINTENDED ACCELERATION"; THE ENGINE AND VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN WHILE MAKING A SLOW (10 MPH) LEFT HAND TURN. VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD AND ACCELERATED. ACCELERATION LASTED FOR A FEW SECONDS AFTER I APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT DID STOP ACCELERATING AT THAT POINT. I WAS ABLE TO STOP JUST SHORT OF A PARKED CAR I WAS TRYING TO PARK BEHIND. THIS IS THE ONLY TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE OR SINCE THE INCIDENT. NOTE: I AM AN EX POWERTRAIN CALIBRATION ENGINEER SO I KNOW UNINTENDED ACCELERATION FROM MY PREVIOUS EMPLOYMENT. ALSO, MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE GAS PEDAL WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED. AND THERE WAS NO FLOOR MAT INTERFERENCE (PEDAL PHYSICALLY CAN'T REACH THE FLOOR).
MY CAR WILL STALL OUT ON ME WHILE DRIVING. THE SCREEN WILL FLASH STABILITY CONTROL ERROR AND REQUIRES ME TO PUT IT IN PARK BEFORE RESTARTING THE CAR.*DT*JB
THE VEHICLE STALLS AND HAS TROUBLE STARTING AT TIMES, THE STEERING PULLS AND CAUSED 1 ACCIDENT AND ALMOST CAUSED 2 MORE ACCIDENTS, SLIDING DOOR DOESN'T OPEN WITH KEY FOB OR PUSH BUTTON IN VEHICLE AT TIMES. BROUGHT TO DEALER 2 TIMES FOR ISSUES TO DATE. THERE R RECALLS FOR THESE ISSUES BUT NOT FOR MY SPECIFIC VAN. IT'S AFFECTING MORE THAN TH ONE LISTED FOR RECALLS
THE UNPREDICTABLE NATURE OF INTERMITTENT ELECTRONIC START/STOP OPERATION CREATES UNCERTAINTY FOR THE DRIVER, AND DISTRACTS ATTENTION CONDUCIVE TO CAUSING A CRASH. DOCUMENTATION IMPLIES THAT OPERATION FOR A FEW MILES MAY BE NECESSARY TO RE-CHARGE SUFFICIENTLY FOR ESS. HOWEVER, OVER TIME ( 6-9 MONTHS ACCORDING TO MY DETAILED MAINTENANCE LOG), THE ALTERNATOR'S CAPACITY TO RE-CHARGE LAGS SUCH THAT ESS CEASES TO FUNCTION ALTOGETHER. 3.WHEN OPERATING PROPERLY, THERE IS A SLIGHT PAUSE BETWEEN TAKING ONE'S FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND ENGINE RESTART. THIS PAUSE IS MILDLY ANNOYING, BUT THE DRIVER CAN BECOME ACCUSTOMED TO IT, IF THE OPERATION IS CONTINUOUSLY RELIABLE. WHEN IT IS NOT RELIABLE, THE DRIVER TENDS TO PAUSE EVEN WHEN THE ENGINE HAS NOT STOPPED. THE DRIVER CAN THEN BE EMBARRASSED, AND 'JACK-RABBIT' UNNECESSARILY. ALTERNATIVELY, IF THE ESS HAS UNEXPECTEDLY RESUMED FUNCTIONALITY, THE DRIVER MAY ACCELERATE PREMATURELY WHICH CAUSES A SIGNIFICANT JERK ONCE THE ESS KICKS IN. EVENTUALLY, THE OPERATOR WILL BE DRIVING ERRATICALLY, CONSTANTLY DISTRACTED BY THE UNCERTAINTY. NEITHER DEALERSHIPS, NOR MECHANICS HAVE OFFERED A LONG-TERM SOLUTION. THUS FAR THEY ARE ONLY REPLACING OR RE-CHARGING THE BATTERIES. 5.I HAVE PROGRESSED THROUGH THREE DISCHARGE AND REPLACE/RECHARGE CYCLES IN A NEW VEHICLE IN JUST 17 MONTHS AND 15,000 MILES. I WAS ABLE TO EXTRACT FROM MY DEALERSHIP'S GENERAL MANAGER THAT THE ENTIRE INVENTORY OF BATTERIES ON WHICH THEY ARE REQUIRED TO DEPEND IS INFERIOR; AND SAID CHRYSLER MIGHT BE 'GOING BACK TO INTERSTATE BATTERIES'. FOR ME, THIS ERRATIC OPERATION HAS BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE. I AM INTERESTED TO KNOW NHSTA'S POSITION.
The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the main battery and the auxiliary battery had been replaced on multiple occasions. The dealer had not yet determined the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the frequent battery failures caused the vehicle to stall while driving at various speeds with the battery and check engine warning lights illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was diagnosed with a cylinder #3 misfire. Also, the contact mentioned that the vehicle would jerk forward upon depression of the accelerator pedal without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnostic test; however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.
I HAVE JUST BOUGHT A CHRYSLER PACIFICA 2018 AND IM VERY UPSET WITH THE PURCHASE. THE SLIDING BACK DOORS OPEN AGAIN WHEN THEY ARE ABOUT TO CLOSE. I HAVE TO TRY SEVERAL TIMES BY PRESSING THE BUTTON ON THE DOOR UNTIL IT CLOSES. EACH TIME I HAVE TO DO IT ABOUT SIX TIMES AND IT'S BOTH DOORS. IT IS ANNOYING AND SHOULD NOT HAPPEN BECAUSE IT CAN BECOME A DANGER ON THE ROAD BECAUSE THEY CAN OPEN THEMSELVES WHILE DRIVING

ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ARRIGO DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM SAWGRASS (5901 MADISON AVE, TAMARAC, FL 33321, (954) 515-5800) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE ENGINE AND EMERGENCY BRAKE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V348000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,127.
WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS (30 MPH OR LESS) THE TRANSMISSION KICKS GOING FROM FIRST GEAR INTO SECOND AND NOW IT IS KICKING FROM SECOND GEAR TO THIRD GEAR. IT IS A HARD BANG THAT FEELS LIKE I AM BEING REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE.
MY CAR IS 3-4 MONTHS OLD. AROUND 7K IN MILES ON IT. THIS AFTERNOON CAR DID NOT STARTED, START BUTTON WAS SHOWING AS RUN CREATED A KIND OF CHAOS IN TERMS SEEMS THE LIKE CAR IS READY TO RUN SHOWING ALL RUN SIGNALS BUT WAS NOT RUNNING, HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT SO I WAS CONFUSED WHAT STATE SHOULD I LEAVE THE CAR IN AS NOT ABLE ABLE TO SHUT DOWN THE CAR & DONT KNOW WHETHER IT WILL START RUNNING BY HIMSELF, SWITCHED ON THE PARKING BREAKS JUST TO MAKE SURE IT DOES JUST START RUNNING & RUINS SOMEONES CAR, IT WAS KIND OF SCARY. MORE SCARY THINGS HAPPENED WHEN THE TOWING TRUCK GUYS SHOWED UP TO DRIVE THE CAR TO DEALER. HE WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHERE IS THE BUTTON TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, CALLED DEALERSHIP NO ONE KNEW, LOOKED AT A VIDEO WHERE IT SHOWED THERE IS A SMALL BOX UNDER STEERING WHICH HAS A RIBBON TO PULL TO MOVE THE CAR TO NEUTRAL MODE. WHEN THE TOWING DRIVER OPENED THAT SPACE THERE WAS NO RIBBON. THESE ARE PART OF SAFETY ISSUES WITH THE CAR, TIS TIME IT HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT IF IT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED ON THE LIVE ROAD THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS.
THERE HAVE BEEN NO MAP UPDATES TO THE BUILT-IN GPS NAVIGATION SYSTEM IN TWO YEARS. WITH CONSTANTLY CHANGING ROADS, REGULAR MAP UPDATES ARE VITAL. THE LACK OF MAP UPDATES IS A DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE, AS THE BUILT-IN GPS NAVIGATION SYSTEM CANNOT BE RELIED UPON. I HAVE MONITORED THE OFFICIAL CHRYSLER SOURCE FOR MAP UPDATES, AND THERE HAVE BEEN NONE. NUMEROUS TELEPHONE CALLS TO CHRYSLER HAVE CONFIRMED THAT THERE ARE NO MAP UPDATES AVAILABLE, AND NO PREDICTION AS TO WHEN OR IF SUCH UPDATES WILL EVER BE AVAILABLE. *JS
I WAS DRIVING IN MY 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA ON A RURAL STREET WHEN IT SUDDENLY FELT LIKE THE FRONT PASSANGER SIDE TIRE HAD BLOWN OUT. THE CAR WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL & AND PULLED TO THE RIGHT, PUSHING UP AGAINST THE CURB. THE CAR STARTED TO SMOKE AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. CONCERNED IT WAS GOING TO GO ON FIRE, MY DAUGHTER & I RAN OUT. WHEN WE WERE OUT OF THE CAR I SAW THAT THE FRONT AXLE CONNECTING THE TIRE HAD COME COMPLETELY DISCONNECTED AND DROPPED TO THE STREET WHILE DRIVING. I CALLED 911 FOR HELP. THE FIREMEN ARRIVED FIRST. THE CAR WAS STILL REVVING & SMOKING BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO SHUT IT MANUALLY SO THEY HAD TO LIFT THE HOOD & CUT THE WIRES. THE POLICE ARRIVED & INVESTIGATED THE AREA. THEY SHOWED ME THE GAUGE MARK FROM WHERE THE TIRE AXLE DROPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF STREET WHICH WAS BEHIND WHERE THE CAR STOPPED AGAINST THE CURB. THERE WERE ZERO INTERFERENCES IN THE AREA (POTHOLE, DEBRIS, SIGNS, RAILGUARDS ETC.). IT WAS A SMOOTH STREET WITH A LOW, GRADUAL CURB. THE OFFICER TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT MY FAULT & DUE TO A MECHANICAL FAILURE ON THE CAR. HE WROTE THAT IN HIS REPORT AS WELL AS ON THE NOTEPAD PAPER WITH HIS INFO & PHONE # TO GIVE THE THE DEALERSHIP. 2 2018 RECALLS THAT MAY EXPLAIN THE PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH MY VIN IS NOT AFFECTED - WHICH I WOULD LIKE FURTHER INSPECTED, SO I'M CONTACTING THE NHTSA TO HOPEFULLY EXPAND THE RECALL VIN #S. *2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA RECALL, THE FRONT-AXLE HALF-SHAFTS MAY HAVE BEEN INCORRECTLY ASSEMBLED, PREVENTING THE SHAFT FROM BEING PROPERLY SECURED TO THE CONSTANT-VELOCITY JOINT. IF THE AXLE SHAFT DISENGAGES FROM THE CV JOINT, THE MINIVAN WILL HAVE A LOSS OF DRIVE OR ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO MOVE. *CHRYSLER IS RECALLING 47,771 OF THE 2018 PACIFICA AND PACIFICA HYBRID MINIVANS BECAUSE PARTS THAT CONNECT KEY SUSPENSION AND STEERING COMPONENTS ON THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL MAY FAIL, WHICH COULD LEAD TO A CRASH. *DT*JB*DT *AS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DARCARS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF MARLOW HEIGHTS (5060 AUTH WAY, CAMP SPRINGS, MD 20746, (301) 423-5111) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT IT WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK BEFORE THE DEALER WOULD BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,100.
WHILE IN MOTION, AT LOW SPEED AROUND THE INTERSECTION, THE CAR STALLED AND LOST ALL POWER, THE BRAKE PEDALS BECOME HARDER TO PUSH, AND THE POWER STEERING WAS GONE. THIS HAPPENED 5-6 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF 3 MILES THAT WE HAD TO TRAVEL HOME.
FREQUENTLY THE DRIVER SIDE REAR POWER DOOR DOES NOT REMAIN SHUT. WHEN THE POWER DOOR CLOSURE IS ACTIVATED, THE DOOR SLIDES ALL OF THE WAY CLOSED AND THEN FREQUENTLY WILL REVERSE, CAUSING THE DOOR TO OPEN COMPLETELY AGAIN. THIS CAN CAUSE THE DRIVER TO THINK THE DOOR IS CLOSED IF A CHILD CLOSES THE DOOR OR IF SOMEONE WALKS AWAY AFTER HITTING THE POWER CLOSURE BUTTON, BUT MAY NOT BE, CAUSING A SAFETY CONCERN. I SEE OTHERS ONLINE ARE HAVING SAME ISSUE. THE DEALER INDICATES IT IS A FIRMWARE/SOFTWARE ISSUE AND IS REQUIRING A SUBSTANTIAL FEE TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE/FIRMWARE TO FIX THE ISSUE. THE ISSUE CAN HAPPEN WHEN ON A FLAT OR INCLINED TERRAIN. IT STARTED HAPPENING SHORTLY AFTER WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW.
NEW VEHICLE WITH 58 MILES CAUGHT ON FIRE DUE TO A DEFECTIVE ELECTRICAL CONTROL MODULE THAT DRIVES THE FRONT GRILL VENT ANGLE FUNCTION.THE FIRE CONSUMED THE COMPLETE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE INCLUDING THE AC CONDENSOR,LINES AND BUMPER.THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY TO A CHRYSLER DEALER TO PERFORM THE TWO RECALLS .THAT WAS DUE.*DT *TP
VAN WILL RANDOMLY NOT START AFTER JUST BEING DRIVEN. DASH BOARD LIGHTS UP AND ENGINE CLICKS BUT WILL NOT TURN OVER. SEVERAL MESSAGES COME UP FOR SERVICE. (SEE PICTURES ATTACHED.) HAS HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO AND THERE'S NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY IT STARTED BACK UP AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR OF PROBLEM SOLVING. BATTERY WAS FINE. HEADLIGHTS, HORN, INSIDE LIGHTS AND RADIO ALL WORKED FINE. WHEN CLICKING ON PARKING BRAKE BUTTON, THE LIGHTS FLASH ON THE DASH AND CAN HEAR CLICKS BUT WON'T TURN ON THE BRAKE.
SERVICE AIRBAG SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT KEEP COMING ON. VAN HAS BEEN IN SHOP 5 TIMES AND CAN'T FIND A PROBLEM WITH THE SYSTEM. SHOP TECH SAYS HE DON'T THINK THEY WILL EXPLODE WHILE DRIVING BUT DON'T KNOW IF THEY WILL WORK IN AN ACCIDENT. WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS PROBLEM STARTED WHEN VAN WAS ABOUT 6 MONTHS OLD.

A WEEK AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT START. IT HAD POWER, BUT THE KEY FOB COULD NOT BE DETECTED. THE SLIDING DOORS REOPENED AFTER BEING CLOSED. THE VEHICLE APPLIES THE BRAKES WHEN REVERSING OR GOING FORWARD AS IF TO STOP A CRASH. THE VEHICLE JOLTS/LUNGES AND ROLLS A LITTLE WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. THE ENGINE RATTLES FOR A FEW SECONDS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE STALLED/IDLED AND SHUT DOWN WHILE AT A STOP SIGN AND IN TRAFFIC. THE DASH DISPLAYED ENGINE STOP START SYSTEM MALFUNCTION. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE RETRIEVING HER DOG FROM THE BACKSEAT, THE SLIDING DOOR BEGAN TO CLOSE. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE AS TO WHETHER SHE DEPRESSED THE SLIDING DOOR BUTTON OR NOT. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND HAD TO MANUALLY PULL THE DOOR BACK WHILE THE DOOR WAS CRUSHING HER LEFT ARM. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES TO HER LEFT ARM, SORENESS AND BRUISING; HOWEVER, NO MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NEEDED. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT NOTIFIED A DEALER OR A MANUFACTURER OF THE VEHICLE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 8,700. *DT*JB *DT*JB *TR
THERE ARE TWO ISSUES: 1) ON CITY STREETS WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE WHEN PUTTING PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR. THERE IS NO REVVING OF THE MOTOR, NO RESISTANCE ON THE ACCELERATOR. FEELS LIKE THE VAN IS SHUTTING OFF (BUT IT ISN'T). I CAN PUSH THE ACCELERATOR ALL THE WAY DOWN WITH NO INCREASE OF SPEED. THIS LASTS ABOUT 4 SECONDS. IT HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES 2) THE VEHICLE WILL VIOLENTLY SHIFT AT LOW SPEEDS. 10-15MPH. THE VEHICLE ACTS LIKE IT IS SEARCHING FOR THE GEAR (SLOWING) AND THEN SHIFTS HARD! FEELS LIKE YOU ARE BEING HIT FROM BEHIND. THIS HAPPENS ON ALL STREETS AND AT ALL TIMES (TURNING, GOING STRAIGHT) STAR CASE IS OPEN WITH FIAT.
WHEN I AM ACCELERATING, THE VEHICLE IS SLIPPING 30-40 MPH, ALMOST LIKE A VIOLENT JOLT. (AT TIMES SEEMS LIKE SOMEONE IS REAR ENDING US) I HAVE BROUGHT IT 2 DEALERSHIPS, 1 SAID IT COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE, THE OTHER DEALERSHIP SAID IT'S A NORMAL FEATURE OF THE CAR. The contact also stated that the rearview image would remain on the radio display. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with the radio software needing to be updated. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was relating the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19V886000 (Back Over Prevention, Equipment). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and informed the contact that the part was not yet available. The failure mileage was approximately 800.
I'VE HAD IT HAPPEN TWICE NOW WHERE THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET TO AROUND 64 MPH, AND WHEN GOING DOWNHILL, THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTED. HOWEVER, THE CAR THEN ACCELERATED BEYOND 70 MPH BOTH TIMES, AND DIDN'T LET GO OF THE ACCELERATOR UNTIL I TURNED THE CRUISE CONTROL OFF.
WE BOUGHT THE CHRYSLER VAN NEW IN 2018. ONE YEAR (~10,000 MILES) LATER, THE VAN DEVELOPED ROUGH UPSHIFTING. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME BUT IT OCCASIONALLY BANGS INTO GEAR VERY VIOLENTLY UNDER SLOW ACCELERATION AT 30 - 35 MPH. WE TOOK THE VAN TO CHRYSLER MECHANICS BUT THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE ROUGH SHIFT SO THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. EVERY TIME IT HAPPENS, IT SCARES ME TO DEATH. IT FEELS LIKE A SLEDGEHAMMER HIT THE VAN!
The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving from a complete stop, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle hesitated to respond and then surged forward. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving however, the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times where an unknown computer software was updated; however, the failure reoccurred intermittently. Additionally, the contact stated that while his wife was coming to a complete stop, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond and stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact’s wife noticed that the gear shifter had moved from drive(D) position into park(P) inadvertently. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000.

TURNED CAR ON WITH AC TO COOL, TOOK DAUGHTER OUT AND PUT IN CARSEAT, CLOSED DOOR AND DRIVER DOOR LOCKED. HAD SPARE IN HOUSE. SERVICED AT DEALERSHIP AND TOLD ALL FINE. THREE WEEKS LATER, SUNROOF WOULD NOT CLOSE, AND DAUGHTER LOCKED IN CAR AGAIN FOR OVER 30 MINUTES. GRANDMOTHER HAD TO BRING SPARE KEY TO PUBLIX. SERVICE ONCE AGAIN SAID ALL WAS FINE. SAFETY LOCKS, WE WERE TOLD, WOULD NOT LOCK IF KEY WAS IN CAR WHICH IT WAS. SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR MY DAUGHTER AND THERE HAS BEEN TIMES ENGINE SHUT DOWN. *AS *TR
THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING SIDE DOORS(AND PROBABLY THE AUTOMATIC REAR LIFT GATE) DO NOT STOP IF SOMETHING -- LIKE AN ARM OR A LITTLE KID -- IS BLOCKING IT. IT COULD CRUSH SOMEONE TO DEATH. ALSO, THE REGULAR DRIVER'S DOOR IS SO HEAVY AND IT IS NOT WEIGHTED PROPERLY TO STOP AT CERTAIN INCREMENTS SO I ALMOST SEVERED MY LEG WHEN IT SLAMMED SHUT ON ME. *DT *TR *DT *TR *TR
POWER WILL BE LOSS INCLUDING RADIO FREQUENTLY. WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS SUCH AS IN TRAFFIC THE ENGINE WILL STALL AND JERK.
WHEN DRIVING FORWARD SPEED AROUND 10-20 MILES AN HOUR OR 1500 -1750 RPM, THE TRANSMISSION WILL SHIFT EXTREMELY HARD (IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE IS HITTING THE CAR FROM BEHIND-IT IS A VIOLENT SHIFT). I HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE IN SEVERAL TIMES SINCE PURCHASING NEW IN FEBRUARY 2018. THEIS OCCURS TWO TO THREE TIMES A DAY OR EVEN MORE DURING THE WEEK. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE PULLING FORWARD FROM MY DRIVE WAY TO GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ACCELERATING. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE DONE FLASH RESETS SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS. I THINK HAVING A BRANDNEW VEHICLE DOING THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND VERY DANGEROUS WITH THE VIOLENT SHIFTING. I WAS TOLD THE NEW 9 SPEED TRANSMISSIONS ALL ARE HAVING THIS TYPE OF ISSUE.
CAR STOPS AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T TURN ON
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE 10/29/18 AND ITS BEEN A GREAT VEHICLE TIL ABOUT JULY 2019. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO FIX A CLICKING NOISE IN THE FRONT LEFT SIDE AND EVERYTIME THEY CHANGE A BUNCH OF PARTS BUT DONT FIX IT. NOW ITS A LOUD SQUEEKING NOISE EVERYTIME I BACK OUT MY DRIVEWAY OR PULL OFF IN DRIVE. IVE TAKEN 3 TIMES AND THEY CANT FIGURE OUT WHAT IT IS. IVE HAVE TO RENT A VEHICLE AND THE DEALER ALSO LET ME USE A 2 DOOR LOANER KNOWING I HAVE 4 KIDS. THEY KEEP SAYING BRING IT BACK MONDAY. SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THE REASON I PURCHASE THE 2018 PACIFICA WAS BECAUSE I HEARD IT WAS A GOOD CAR AND DEPENDABLE AS I HAVE 4 CHILDREN THAT I HAVE TO GET TO AND FROM SCHOOL , DOCTORS AND SPORTS. VERY FREQUENTLY THE UTHEATER APPLICATION WILL NOT WORK AFTER SHUTTING VAN OFF AND RESTARTING. WE HAVE GONE THROUGH 1 BATTERY A YEAR EVEN THOUGH IT IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A 5 YEAR LIFE. AFTER STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT THE AUTO START/STOP CAUSES THE VAN TO DIE. I HAD TO COMPLETELY RESTART THE VAN. OUT OF NOWHERE DRIVING HOME DOING ABOUT 50 MPH IT FLASHED A LOW BATTERY ALERT THEN DIED WITHIN 2 MINUTES WHILE DRIVING. THANK GOD I WAS ONLY A BLOCK FROM HOME AND IT WAS DOWNHILL. MY VAN JUST HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED AGAIN AND AGAIN WON'T START. THIS BATTERY IS 2 WEEKS OLD. I HAD TURNED OFF THE AUTO START/STOP AS DIRECTED BY MY DEALERSHIP AND IT CONTINUES TO DRAIN BATTERIES. AFTER DOING RESEARCH I FOUND ABOUT 100 CASES WITH THE SAME ISSUES. IF I WOULD HAVE STILL BE ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT DIED I COULD HAVE BEEN HIT. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT A DOZEN OR MORE TIMES IN THE YEAR AND A HALF WE HAVE HAD THE VAN. THE FIRST TIME THE BATTERY DIED WAS LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VAN. NEW BATTERY WAS PUT IN AT REQUEST AT PURCHASE. DIED AFTER GOING MAYBE 20 MILES AN HOUR.
COMING HOME FROM CHURCH, A NEIGHBOR WAS OUT WASHING HIS CAR, AS HE MOVED TOWARD THE ROAD I BEGAN TO APPLY THE BRAKES AND THE ENGINE SPED UP TO A HIGHER SPEED. AFTER I STOPPED THE CAR, I LOOKED DOWN TO SEE MY RIGHT SHOE WAS ON BOTH PEDALS. THIS HAD HAPPENED THREE TIMES BEFORE. MY SON WENT OUT AND CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID AND FOUND IT AT THE MINIMUM LEVEL. HE TOPPED IT OFF TO THE MAXIMUM LEVEL. MY SON BELIEVES THAT WILL TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. BUT REPORTING IT MIGHT BE BETTER FOR OTHERS. SINCE I HAD TAKEN IT INTO CHRYSLER A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO AND THEY SAID THEY HAD PREFORMED A 32 POINT SAFETY INSPECTION, I DID NOT SEE HOW THE COULD HAVE MISSED THE LOW BRAKE FLUID, OR HAVE NOT TOPPED IT OFF. IT SEEMS THE BRAKE PEDAL IS UP HIGHER THAN THE GAS PEDAL BY SEVERAL INCHES WHEN THE CAR IS FIRST STARTED, BUT AFTER SEVERAL MILES - MORE THAN 11 MILES - IT LOSES THE HEIGHT IT STARTED WITH. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AT LESS THAN 20 MPH ON A SUBDIVISION STREET. THIS HAD HAPPENED THREE TIMES BEFORE, WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING PLACE OR DRIVEWAY, MOVING AT LOW SPEED. EACH TIM AFTER HAVING DRIVEN A LONGER DISTANCE THAN NORMAL. OVER 11 MILES. THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD GONE LOWER TO THE FLOOR AND WAS AT OR BELOW THE LEVEL OF THE GAS PEDAL. IF THIS IS TO BE EXPECTED, THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDAL ARE MUCH TOO CLOSE TOGETHER, ONLY 3 INCHES BETWEEN THEM, AND THIS IS THEN A PROBLEM.
WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, THE AUTO STOP ENGAGED. WHEN TAKING THE FOOT OFF THE BRAKE TO DISENGAGE AUTO STOP, THE VEHICLE STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. HAZARD LIGHTS WERE ENABLED; HOWEVER, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY SHUT DOWN, INCLUDING THE HAZARD LIGHTS. THIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS FOR THE PREVIOUS 20 MINUTES WITHOUT ANY INDICATION OF THE IMPENDING FAILURE. DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT INITIALLY BELIEVES FAULT LIES WITH THE BATTERY, BUT HOW DID THE CAR GET 20 MINUTES FROM HOME ON A DEAD BATTERY???
WHEN STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT, MY CAR USED THE STOP/START FUNCTION. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR STALLED AND WOULDN'T LET ME TURN IT BACK ON OR TURN THE DIAL TO MOVE IT TO NEUTRAL. IT STAYED LIKE THAT FOR A COUPLE MINUTES AND THEN I WAS ABLE TO START IT, BUT NOW I HAVE A LIGHT ON MY DASHBOARD INDICATING THAT THE STOP/START ISN'T AVAILABLE. I WAS TRAVELING 500 MILES FROM HOME ON VACATION WITH MY FAMILY.
WE HAVE RENTED A CHRYSLER CAR FOR 1 DAY FROM BUDGET RENTALS TO TAKE US FROM RALEIGH, NC TO DULLES AIRPORT, VA. WE DROVE THE CAR TO DC. WE DID SETUP THE CRUISE CONTROL ON 76 SPEED IN 70 MPH ZONE. THE POLICE STOPPED US ON THE I-95 IN VA AND GAVE US A SPEEDING TICKET, ACCORDING TO HIM, WE ARE DRIVING IN 86 MPH. WE DID NOT REALIZE THE SPEED BECAUSE NOT TOO MANY CARS AROUND, DRIVING AROUND 3AM. WE WERE SO SURPRISED ABOUT THAT TICKET AND HOW COULD THIS EVEN HAPPEN. WE THOUGHT THAT WE WERE MISTAKENLY READING THE ODOMETER READINGS. WE RECEIVED THE TICKET WITH RECKLESS DRIVING OF 86/70 MPH. WE TOOK DEEP BREATH AND STARTED DRIVING AGAIN. WE SAID OK LET'S SETUP THE CRUISE CONTROL THIS TIME TO 75 AND WATCH IT CAREFULLY. WITHIN LESS THAN 20 SECONDS FROM SETTING UP THE CRUISE CONTROL, ANOTHER POLICE STOPPED US WITH SPEED OF 85/70 MPH, RECKLESS DRIVING. WE HAD NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON. THE TWO TICKETS WERE ABOUT 5 MILES APART ON THE I-95, VA. WE DECIDED THIS TIME NOT TO USE THE CRUISE CONTROL AND FOLLOW THE CARS FLOW AROUND US. WE DID THAT FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP, DRIVING WITHOUT THE CRUISE CONTROL. ALL OF THE PREVIOUS PROBLEMS WERE NOTHING IN COMPARISON TO THE FOLLOWING. AS WE DRIVING IN VA, AROUND 7AM WHERE MANY CARS ON THE I-95 TO FOLLOW THEIR PATTERN. WE SAID LET'S JUST SETUP THE CRUISE CONTROL FOR FEW SECONDS AND COMPARE IT TO THE CARS BESIDE US. WE SETUP THE CRUISE ON 75, WE NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT SPEED INCREASE. I PUSHED THE BRAKES, IT DID NOT STOP THIS TIME. THE CAR WAS DRIVING IN HIGHER SPEED. WHILE I WAS TRYING TO ACT AS FAST AS I COULD, I PUSHED THE BRAKES AND SWITCHED THE STICK FROM D TO N. I TRIED TO DISABLE THE CRUISE CONTROL THIS TIME, IT DID NOT WORK. WE PARKED IN A NEAR GAS STATION, TOOK DEEP BREATH, TURNED OFF THE CAR, WENT TO THE BATHROOM AND GOT BACK ON THE ROAD. THANKFULLY, THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS DISABLED.
THE ELECTRONICS THROUGH UCONNECT SHUT OFF RANDOMLY OR WILL NOT ALL WORK RANDOMLY. WE HAVE HAD THE SOFTWARE UPDATED BY OURSELVES AND THE DEALERSHIP ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. WHILE DRIVING OR IN PARK. NEXT, OUR DASH LIGHTS WOULD NOT GO OFF ONE NIGHT NO MATTER WHAT WE DID TO SHUT THEM OFF AND ENDED UP KILLING THE BATTERY BY MORNING.
THE TRANSMISSION HAS SLIPPED AND/OR JERKED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. AS MANY AS 50. WHEN DRIVING FROM A STOP IT WILL NOT GO INTO GEAR FOR SEVERAL SECONDS OR WILL JERK INTO GEAR. WHILE PUTTING IN PARK IT WILL JERK CAUSING IT TO JUMP FORWARD WHICH COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT.
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY DURING POURING RAIN, WITH WIPERS ON HIGH AND HEAD LIGHTS ON, DASH AND TOUCH SCREEN WENT OFF/BLACK FOR UP TO 15 MINUTES THEN TURNED BACK ON AGAIN. THIS OCCURRED THREE TIMES WHILE DRIVING. I WAS UNABLE TO PULL OVER ON THE THRUWAY AND WAS UNABLE TO ASSESS IF MY HEAD LIGHTS WERE AFFECTED AS WELL. WE HAD BEEN DRIVING ABOUT AN HOUR WHEN THIS OCCURRED. THE CAR HAD BEEN CHARGED FULLY BEFORE BEGINNING OUR TRAVELS THAT DAY.
THE VEHICLE HAS 9700 MILES ON THE OD. AS IT WAS SLOWING FOR A STOP AS IT WAS STILL IN MOTION THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF FORCING THE VEHICLE TO ABRUPTLY STOP. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE PLACED INTO PARK AND TURNED BACK ON TO CONTINUE.
MULTIPLE ENGINE STALLS WHEN SLOWING TO TURN OR STOP, AT LEAST 9 TIMES. THE ENGINE DIES, YOU HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP TO BE ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE TURNING, WHILE COMING TO A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT AND JUST WHILE SLOWING DOWN. ONE INSTANCE OF THE BRAKES AND STEERING LOCKING UP AS I TRIED TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT. I WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP AND RAN THROUGH THE RED LIGHT. I HAD NO STEERING OR BRAKES. WHEN I DID COME TO A STOP, I TRIED TO BACK UP TO GET OUT OF THE MIDDLE THE ROAD AND THE GEAR SHIFT WAS ALSO LOCKED UP. THE VAN HAS A BEEN IN FOR SERVICE 5 TIMES AND 49 DAYS SO FAR AND CURRENTLY HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT SINCE JUNE 11. TOOK VAN IN 6/5/2019 TO COMPLY WITH RECALL V53 AND ON 6/11/2019 THE ENGINE STALLED AGAIN. I HAVE DOCUMENTS I WANTED TO UPLOAD BUT THEY EXCEEDED THE 5MB LIMIT. ALSO IN THE "AFFECTED PARTS" SECTION I WANTED TO SELECT "BRAKES" IN ADDITION TO THE STEERING, ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL BUT I WAS NOT ABLE TO ADD ANOTHER SELECTION.
Sometimes when I am accelerating it feels like I am being rear-ended. The whole vehicle jumps as if it is being pushed. I have tried to reset the Transmission by watching YouTube videos that show the same problem. But it has not fixed it. It also happens when I am driving. I am worried that it may not shift gears at all. I use it for all my long distance trips and do not want to break down on Interstate 95 in the dark. I have had it back to Auto Lenders in EHT, NJ multiple times from 2019- 2021. I gave up bringing it back because it never got fixed. Now it is happening almost every week.
ELECTRICAL AND SENSOR ISSUES. WHEN MY 2018 PACIFICA IS STARTED IN THE MORNING I RECEIVE A FCW (FRONT CRASH WARNING) AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY ONE HALF MILE AND STOPPING AT A STOP LIGHT NEAR MY HOUSE. I HAVE THE GAS SAVER ON AND MY VAN WILL USUALLY SHUT OFF. WHEN I STOP AT THE LIGHT, THE CONSOLE WILL FLASH FCW WHEN NO OBJECTS ARE IN FRONT OR NEAR ME AS WELL AS TWO OTHER CENSORS FLASHING. THE VAN COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN AND THEN FLASHES "START STOP REQUIRED". I THEN HAVE TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK, TURN IT OFF, RESTART IT, THEN SHIFT BACK TO DRIVE ALL WHILE IN AT AN INTERSECTION. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 12 TIMES AND CREATES A RISK OF BEING REAR-ENDED. SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VAN IN AUGUST 2018, WE HAVE HAD: THE UCONNECT CENTER REPLACED ON SEPTEMBER 7 2018, THE RADIO IMPROPERLY ACTIVATED OR TURNED OFF INCORRECTLY COMPLETELY DRAINING THE BATTERY REQUIRING TOW AND SERVICE ON APRIL 12 2019, AND THE FCW WAS SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED ON MAY 21 2019. ALTHOUGH IT WAS "FIXED" THE FCW ALERT HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES SINCE IT WAS RETURNED LESS THAN 3 WEEKS PRIOR.
WAS TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS UNTIL ROAD CONSTRUCTION SLOWED EVERYTHING DOWN TO STOP-AND-GO. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF THIS, WE WERE ABOUT TO GO AGAIN AND THE CAR JUST STOPPED. NOTHING WAS WORKING. CALLED CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IN ST LOUIS WHERE WE LEASED THE CAR. THEY TOLD US THERE WAS A WAY TO RELEASE THE CAR SO WE COULD PUSH IT OFF THE HIGHWAY. DIDN'T WORK. FINALLY HAD CAR TOWED TO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IN SPRINGFIELD, IL. WHEN WE GOT BACK TO ST LOUIS, FOUND A SAFETY RECALL LETTER: V53/NHTSA19V-348. AM ENCLOSING REPAIR SHEETS.
ON MAY 25, 2019, AS I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 40 MPH WITH TWO LITTLE CHILDREN IN THE CAR, MY CHRYSLER PACIFICA SUDDENLY STALLED AND THE ENGINE DIED. TWO ERROR MESSAGES CAME UP: ONE A PICTURE OF A BATTERY AND ONE A PICTURE OF A TURTLE. THE CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND IT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY IN RAINY CONDITIONS. I HAD TO WAIT FOR A TOW TRUCK IN RAIN AND IN DANGEROUS CONDITIONS TO GET IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT ENGAGE EVEN AFTER BEING JUMP STARTED.
I RETURNED HOME AND TURNED OFF MY CAR AND SHUT THE GARAGE DOOR. MY PURSE WITH MY KEYS WAS STILL IN THE CAR. I CAME DOWNSTAIRS 45 MINUTES LATER AND HEARD THE CAR RUNNING IN THE GARAGE. I DON'T KNOW HOW LONG IT WAS RUNNING WITH THE GARAGE DOOR SHUT, BUT IT TERRIFIED ME. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT WAS STARTED. I DID NOT USE REMOTE START, SINCE THE KEYS WERE IN THE CAR.
DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR REPEATEDLY REOPENS AND FAILS TO CLOSE WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. THIS FAILURE OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY AND SEEMS TO COINCIDE WITH A CLICKING NOISE THAT COMES FROM UNDER THE DASH AT HIGHWAY SPEED.
ON 05-11-2019 MY 2018 (PURCHASED NOV. 2018) CHRYSLER PACIFICA TOURING L PLUS VAN WAS STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY (7,000 MILES). VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. VEHICLE BEGAN GIVING ERRATIC DASH DISPLAYS, FOR EXAMPLE IT ADVISED THAT THE CAR WAS NOT IN PARK. IT ADVISED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT NEED SERVICE.
