THE SAFETY PULL ON THE SEAT BELT DID NOT LET UP WHEN UNBUCKLING. IT FORCED MY DAUGHTER INTO ALMOST SUFFOCATION AND ULTIMATELY NEEDED TO BE CUT (BACK ROW, PASSENGER SIDE). I'VE NOW NOTICED THAT THE MIDDLE ROW, MIDDLE SEAT (8 SEATER) HAS A SIMILAR ISSUE. IT CONTINUES TO TIGHTEN AND DOES NOT LET UP ON, WHAT SEEMINGLY SHOULD BE A SAFETY FEATURE. SEE ATTACHED PICTURES
The informational screen when turned on get super super hot and has slightly warped the dashboard. I believe There is a connection between Having the informational screen on while driving and the steering wheel sticking. It sticks less when the informational screen is turned off. I worry that if I’m driving with the radio on it will catch the car on fire
WHEN DRIVING AND STOPPING AT A SIGNAL, ENGINE GOES INTO AUTO START/STOP, CHIMES WITH ERROR, AND MUST DO A MANUAL RESTART BY PLACING INTO PARK. HAS DONE THIS MANY TIMES AND COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS IF STOPPED IN AN INTERSECTION. THE ONLY REMEDY IS TO START ENGINE AND TURN OFF AUTO START/STOP.
2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA LIMITED. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ISSUES WITH ACTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (ACC). *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE ACC WAS NOT RELIABLE IF THE VEHICLE WAS ON A SLIGHT INCLINE OR SLIGHT DECLINE RELATIVE TO THE TARGET VEHICLE. POWER STEERING LOSSES ALL ASSISTANCE AND ITS VERY HARD TO HANDLE THE VEHICLE . MESSAGE SHOWS UP ON DRIVER DISPLAY THAT SAY POWER STEERING SYSTEM IS NOT AVAILABLE. THIS HAS HAPPEN NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE DRIVING FROM 20 TO 50 MPH AND SOME TIMES WHILE STOPPED. VEHICLE HAS 19K MILES ON IT. HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER 2 TIMES AND HEADING BACK A THIRD TIME WITHIN THE LAST 2 WEEKS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. FIRST THEY CHANGED THE GEAR RACK 19001012 AND EPS MODULE RETURNED VEHICLE. DID NOT EVEN LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP PARKING LOT AND THE PROBLEM WAS BACK. RETURNED VEHICLE FOR ANOTHER SERVICE AND THIS TIME THEY CHANGED EPS WIRING HARNESS. HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 3 DAYS AND PROBLEM IS BACK, TAKING BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE 3RD TIME. THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND WILL LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT AND MAYBE EVEN DEATH.
WHEJ I'M DRIVING THE VAN IT SHUTS OFF WHILE IT'S IN DRIVE. A ALERT COMES ON SAYING SOMETHING RELATED TO FCC. I TRY TO TAKE A PIC BUT IT GOES AWAY QUICKLY. IT'S HAPPENED AT STOPS AND WHILE MOVING. VERY SCARY. CHRYSLER ACTS AS THOUGH THEY DON'T WANT ME TO BRING THE CAR IN. VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY. I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE IT. THIS VEHICLE IS MY DAUGHTERS WHEELCHAIR VAN WITH LESS THEN 3000 MILES ON IT.
ON TWO OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED AT A STOP LIGHT WITH THE AUTO STOP/START DISENGAGED. ON BOTH OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE INFORMATION SYSTEM SAID TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AND RESTART IT. I'VE CHECKED WITH THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE ISSUE BEFORE.
TWO INCIDENTS WHICH HAPPENED WITHIN 4 MONTHS OF EACH OTHER. I HAVE HAD THE CAR LESS THAN 9 MONTHS. MOST RECENT WAS APRIL 3RD, 2019. I WAS WAITING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WHEN I WENT TO LET MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE TO DRIVE WHEN ALL OF SUDDEN THE CAR STALLED. AN ALERT CAME UP ON THE SCREEN TO TELL ME THE THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN TO GET IT TO DRIVE. I HAD TWO SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR BOTH TIMES IT HAS HAPPEN. IT'S MY ONLY CAR. IT SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS. WHEN YOU GOOGLE THIS PROBLEM THOUGH APPARENTLY IT'S VERY COMMON WITH THIS VAN AND CHRYSLER HAS NO FIX. MANY PEOPLE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THEM WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. THIS IS EXTREMELY CONCERNING & YOU SHOULD DEMAND CHRYSLER FIX THIS ISSUE PLEASE.
TAKARA RECALL. WHILE TAKING OFF FROM A STOP MY TRANSMISSION SHIFTS INTO A GEAR VERY HARD. IT MAKES A LOAD BANG AND YOU CAN FEEL IT. IT FEELS LIKE YOU GOT HIT. IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE.
WHILE CAR PARKED, TURNED CAR ON, CAR STUCK IN "RUN" POSITION, UNABLE TO CHANGE GEARS, UNABLE TO TURN CAR OFF.
WE BOUGHT THE CAR AS A CERTIFIED USED CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP IN FEBRUARY, 2019. THE CAR IS A 2018, AND HAD 22,000 MILES AT TIME OF PURCHASE. THE CAR FIRST STALLED IN LATE MARCH, 2019. IT STALLED WHILE AT A RED LIGHT, AND CARS HAD TO BE DIRECTED AROUND THE CAR. MY CHILD WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME AT THE TIME. AN ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED WITH SOMETHING REGARDING THE STABILITY CONTROL. SINCE THAT FIRST TIME, THE CAR HAS STALLED AT A LIGHT 2 MORE TIMES. WE ARE BRINGING THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. WHEN WE CALLED TO LET THE DEALER KNOW THE ISSUE, THEY SAID THEY'VE NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING. I FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE WITH SO MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT IS NOT BEING ADDRESSED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND RESUMED NORMAL DRIVING. THE CONTACT THEN RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V348000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOM AHL CHRYSLER, DODGE, JEEP, RAM LOCATED AT (2525 ALLENTOWN RD LIMA, OH 45805) FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO LIBERTY CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM LOCATED AT (12895 WORTHINGTON RD, PATASKALA, OH 43062), WHERE A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO BYERS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM LOCATED AT (465 S HAMILTON RD, COLUMBUS, OH 43213) BUT NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *BF CONSUMER HAS TRIED TO GET IT REPAIR SEVERAL TIMES.*JB
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND THE VEHICLE JUST SHUT OFF. A LIGHT FOR LANE ASSIST CAME ON THAT SAID SEEK SERVICE ASAP. IT WENT RIGHT BACK OUT THOUGH. I IMMEDIATELY SCHEDULED IT TO BE CHECKED OUT. THE DEALERSHIP IN HERMITAGE, PENNSYLVANIA SAID THEY HAD ANOTHER WOMAN WITH SAME VEHICLE AND SAME PROBLEM. THEY WERE WAITING ON A RECALL TO KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. UPON RETURNING TO FLORIDA, I ALSO WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM. THE SERVICE MANAGER HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. HOWEVER, WE INFORMED HIM WE HAD LOOKED IT UP ON LINE AND THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW.
2018 CHRYSLER TOURING L PLUS PURCHASED 4/23/2018. ON 3/25/2019, WHILE DRIVING ON A CLEAR DRY ROAD IN LATE AFTERNOON AT 50 MILES/HOUR ON A MAIN ROAD LEADING INTO OUR CITY, THE STEERING SUDDENLY TURNED HARD RIGHT (COULD NOT CONTROL IT) AND THE VEHICLE WENT OFF THE ROAD. NO INJURIES (SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED), BUT SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. IT MAY BE A TOTAL LOSS. IT'S UNBELIEVABLE THAT NOBODY WAS KILLED OR HARDLY PHYSICALLY INJURED, BUT BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER (A VERY YOUNG CHILD) ARE TRAUMATIZED BY THE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS NEW VEHICLE. *DT*JB
WE ARRIVED HOME FROM THE GROCERY STORE, I PARKED THE CAR IN THE GARAGE TURNED IT OFF AND BEGAN UNLOADING THE GROCERIES. ABOUT 2 AM THURSDAY, THE INDOOR SECURITY SYSTEM WENT OFF, SAYING "ALERT CARBON MONIXIDE." I THEN WENT OUT TO THE GARAGE AND FOUND THE ENGINE HAD BEEN RUNNING FOR SEVERAL HOURS. THE HOOD OF THE CAR WAS TOO HOT TO TOUCH. I THEN SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND OPENED THE GARAGE DOOR TO BEGIN AIRING OUT THE GARAGE. THEN GOT MY WIFE UP AND BEGAN AIRING OUT THE HOUSE. MY DAUGHTER CAME OVER AND CONTINUED OPENING WINDOWS TO AIR OUT THE UPPER FLOOR OF THE HOUSE. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THE ENGINE RESTARTED OR WHY IT REMAINED RUNNING FOR SO LONG. I HAVE SINCE REALIZED THE SPARE CAR 'KEY' WAS HANGING JUST ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WALL TO THE GARAGE, WELL WITHIN THE 5 FEET FROM THE VEHICLE, WHICH IS NECESSARY FOR THE CAR TO KNOW THE KEY IS NEARBY, ALLOWING THE DOORS TO BE OPENED, ETC. I TOOK THE CAR OUT THE FIRST TIME AFTER THE INCIDENT, THE TRIP INFORMATION SAID THE CAR HAD DRIVEN A TOTAL OF 120 MILES SINCE BEING REFUELED, FOR AN AVERAGE MPG RATING OF 4.7 MPG. SINCE THE AVERAGE FUEL USAGE IS BETWEEN 24 AND 31 MPG, I MUST ASSUME THE EXTRA FUEL WAS USED TO IDLE THE ENGINE FOR SEVERAL HOURS. SINCE WE WERE ALONE IN THE HOUSE THERE WERE NO INJURIES, BUT HAD SOMEONE BEEN SLEEPING UP STAIRS, I AM SURE THE WOULD HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY OR KILLED BY THE CARBON MONIXIDE. I ALSO FEEL THAT THE INFORMATION NEEDED TO GO TO SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE AUTO MANUFACTURER. *DT*JB *DT*JB
VEHICLE AUTO SHUTDOWN AND WILL NOT RESTART AT STOP LIGHT. LIFTING FOOT OFF BRAKE PEDAL WILL NOT HAVE THE VEHICLE DISABLE THE FUEL SAVING AUTO SHUTDOWN AND VEHICLE WILL NOT RESTART. FORWARD COLLISION WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND AUDIBLE ALARMS ACTIVE. MUST DO A COMPLETE RESTART OF THE VEHICLE ENGAGING BRAKE PEDAL AND PUSH BUTTON START.
CAR TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY
VEHICLE STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES REQUIRING SHIFT TO PARK AND MANUAL RESTART. VEHICLE WAS AT IDLE IN LEFT TURN LANE OF MAJOR CITY ROAD WITH 4 OCCUPANTS. VEHICLE HAS STALLED AT LOW SPEED IN PARKING LOT IMMEDIATELY AFTER STATING TO MOVE FROM A STOP WITH 4 OCCUPANTS. *TR
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED. FORCING US TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART THE ENGINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED PULLING INTO BUSY INTERSECTIONS AND ONCE OCCURRED ON TRAIN TRACKS. MY WIFE AND I ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE OUR BRAND NEW MINI VAN.
MY 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA CAR STOPPED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I HAD SLOWED DOWN TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AND IT SHUT ITSELF OFF. IT QUICKLY FLASHED A MESSAGE ABOUT STABILITY CONTROL AND THEN SHOWED STOP, START, RESTART REQUIRED. THE CAR WAS STILL IN DRIVE. WHEN I TRIED PRESSING THE BRAKE IT WAS VERY HARD AND WOULDN'T MOVE. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TRIED SHUTTING IT OFF AND RESTARTING IT, BUT COULDN'T. I HAD A LINE OF CARS BEHIND ME, INCLUDING A SCHOOL BUS AND PUT MY HAZARDS ON. I'M NOT SURE HOW MANY TRIES IT TOOK, BUT I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET IT TO START AND DRIVE HOME. I HAVE SINCE DRIVEN THE CAR WITHOUT INCIDENT BUT I AM VERY NERVOUS THAT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. IT SEEMS LIKE A HUGE SAFETY RISK.
VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP AND THEN SHUTDOWN SUDDENLY. VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO INPUT AND CREATED A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND WE WERE STOPPED IN A DIVIDED MEDIAN WITHOUT POWER. DISPLAY SAYS "FCC SERVICE REQUIRED" AND THEN PROCEEDS TO SAY START/STOP REQUIRED AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO DIE. REQUIRED PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK, RESTARTING THE ENGINE, AND THEN PUTTING BACK INTO DRIVE.
PROBLEM OCCURS AT SLOW SPEEDS OR WHEN STOPPED. THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF. THEN WE HAVE TO QUICKLY SWITCH INTO PARK, RESTART, THEN SWITCH INTO DRIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 8 TIMES WHILE DRIVING. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. CHRYSLER SAID TO TURN OF FRONT COLLISION WARNING COLLISION UNTIL THEY HAVE A SOLUTION. SINCE THAT TEMP FIX, THE CAR FAIL 2 MORE TIMES ON 3/6/19. ONCE WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN IT DIED BEFORE THE TURN WAS COMPLETED, AND ONCE MORE COMING OUT OF A PARKING LOT TURNING ONTO A MAIN ROAD. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE RECTIFIED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE HAS A CRASH. THE CAR JUST SHUTS OFF. THE CAR IS ONLY A FEW MONTHS OLD AND IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED OUT WHILE WAITING FOR STOP LIGHTS AND JUST IN A STOPPED POSITION. IN ORDER TO RESTART THE VEHICLE IT HAD TO BE PLACED IN PARK. IT DOES START IMMEDIATELY HOWEVER IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN LEAVING US TO WONDER IF THIS WILL OCCUR DURING ACTUAL DRIVING.
INTERMITTENTLY WHEN STOPPED , THE CAR STALLS. MESSAGES FLASH SAYING "FCW UNAVAILABLE" AND "ACC UNAVAILABLE" "LANESENSE UNAVAILABLE" SERVICE REQUIRED. THE CAR HAS TO BE RESTARTED. I HAVE HAD IT AT DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY CANNOT FIX. IT'S DANGEROUS AS I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED AT STOP SIGNS OR STOP LIGHTS SINCE IT'S STALLED. I HAPPENS USUALLY RIGHT AFTER STOPPING. THERE IS NO PATTERN BUT HAPPENS ABOUT 25% OF THE TIME I AM DRIVING.
WE HAVE A 2018 PACIFICA THAT WE BOUGHT NEW A YEAR AGO. OUR VAN CURRENTLY HAS 8,000 MILES ON IT. MY WIFE RECEIVED A WARNING ABOUT A BATTERY FAULT WHILE SHE WAS TAKING OUR KIDS TO SCHOOL. THE VAN THEN SHUT OFF IN MORNING RUSH HOUR WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING AT AROUND 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND ABILITY TO SAFELY STEER AND BRAKE WITH THE ELECTRIC ASSIST. SHE WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY GET THE VAN TO A STOP ON A SIDE STREET. THE VAN IS AT THE DEALER NOW AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. I WAS TOLD THE BATTERY APPEARS TO BE TOTALLY FLAT, BUT IF IT WAS JUST A SIMPLE BATTERY REPLACEMENT, WE WOULD HAVE HAD OUR VAN BACK BY NOW.
ENGINE RANDOMLY STALLS. WE'VE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 8 MONTHS AND IT HAS RANDOMLY STALLED MORE THAN 10 TIMES REGARDLESS OF THE SCENARIO (DRIVING, STOPPED AT A LIGHT, PARKED). THE LATEST INCIDENT BEING TODAY, 3/4/19. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN BASED ON IT HAPPENING WHILE DRIVING WITH OUR CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE.
WHILE IN MOTION, A LOSS OF POWER STEERING IS OBSERVED. THERE DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE ANY SPECIFIC SEQUENCE OR EVENTS TO CAUSE THE ISSUE, AND APPEARS TO OCCUR RANDOMLY. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INDICATES THAT THERE IS A LOSS OF POWER STEERING, AND TO SERVICE SOON. A RED LIGHTNING BOLT IN THE UPPER LEFT CORNER REMAINS ON FOR AS LONG AS THE POWER STEERING LOSES FUNCTION. ISSUE HAS OCCURRED BETWEEN 1 - 4 TIMES IN A DAY, AT WIDE SPECTRUM OF SPEEDS (STATIONARY AT RED LIGHT, AND BETWEEN 30 - 125 KM/HR)
IN THE FALL, THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED LEAVING MY CAR COMPLETELY INOPERABLE. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR. THANK GOODNESS WE WERE IN A SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD GOING AT A SLOW RATE OF SPEED.IT TOOK OVER A WEEK TO "FIX" THE PROBLEM AND WAS GIVE A WHOLE NEW "COMPUTER". ON SATURDAY 3-2 AT 10:30 PM, I WAS DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN ON THE OHIO TURNPIKE GOING 70 MPH WHEN THEN POWER STEERING FAILED. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. I DID NOT HAVE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO LOSS OF STEERING AND HAD TO PULL THE WHEEL HARD TO THE RIGHT TO GET OFF THE ROAD. THANK GOODNESS, I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE. IF I WERE IN THE LEFT LANE ON THE HIGHWAY, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN POTENTIALLY FATAL. BOTH OCCURRENCES COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY OR HAVE BEEN FATAL. WE RESEARCHED THE ISSUES AND FOUND A NYTIMES ARTICLE ON THESE FAILURES. THIS CAR HAS PUT MY FAMILY'S SAFETY IN DANGER.
MANY TIMES WHEN I OR MY WIFE HAVE PRESSED THE BRAKES THE VAN SURGES FORWARD OR LUNGES FORWARD. VERY SCARY. HAPPENS A LOT. IT FEELS LIKE WHEN WE PRESS THE BRAKES THE ELECTRIC ENGINE JUST FOR SOME REASON TURNS ON AND PUSHES THE VAN FORWARD, FIGHTING THE BRAKES. IT IS CRAZY. HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND SHIFTING FROM SECOND TO THIRD GEAR, WITHOUT WARNING, THE VEHICLE JERKED BACKWARD THEN FORWARD WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THREE SEPARATE CHRYSLER DEALERS; ORLANDO DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (4101 W COLONIAL DR, ORLANDO, FL 32808), AIRPORT CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (5751 EAGLE VAIL DRIVE, ORLANDO, FL 32822) AND CENTRAL FLORIDA CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (8675 COMMODITY CIR, ORLANDO, FL 32819) HOWEVER, THE MECHANICS WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE DEALERS. NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,000.
AUTOMATIC RESTART FEATURE STALLS THE CAR AFTER THE FEATURE TURNS OFF ENGINE AND DRIVER TRIES TO DRIVE AGAIN. IF CAR HAS NOT BEEN RUNNING FOR A LONG TIME, THEN AT FIRST STOP (STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT) THE AUTOMATIC RESTART FEATURE WILL TURN OFF THE ENGINE AS EXPECTED BUT WHEN DRIVER TRIES TO DRIVE AGAIN, THE ENGINE STALLS. DRIVER FORCED TO PUT CAR INTO PARK AND USE START/STOP BUTTON TO COMPLETELY RESTART THE ENGINE. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE AS THE CAR STALLS COMPLETELY AND PUTS DRIVER AT RISK OF GETTING REAR-ENDED SINCE CAR WILL NOT MOVE WHEN LIGHT TURNS GREEN. THERE IS NO WAY TO PERMANENTLY DISABLE THIS AUTOMATIC RESTART FEATURE, SO DRIVER MUST REMEMBER TO DO IT MANUALLY BY PUSHING A DASH BUTTON WITH A ON IT.....ELSE THE CAR WILL STALL AT FIRST STOP.
The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that since 2019, the "Auto START/STOP feature unavailable" message was displayed on the instrument panel. Due to the failure, the vehicle intermittently failed to start, the vehicle was jerking and hesitating while depressing the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle also shut-off unintendedly while driving at various speeds. The vehicle had been towed to a dealer on several occasions and the auxiliary and the main batteries replaced; however, the failure returned approximately a year and a half later. To prevent the failure from recurring, the contact disabled the Auto START/STOP feature to prevent the vehicle from stalling. The contact stated that numerous repairs had been performed on the vehicle and that the only other solutions would be to replace the transmission, perform a software update or replace a possible unknown sensor. Additionally, the contact stated that while turning off the vehicle there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was given a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.
THE ELECTRONIC AUTO START/STOP IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WHEN AT A RED LIGHT THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF AND THE CAR DOES NOT START AGAIN WHEN THE GAS IS PUSHED. WE HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK THEN RESTART THE ENGINE TO PROCEED. CHRYSLER TOLD US THIS MORNING THAT IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND ARE WAITING TO SEE IF THERE IS GOING TO BE A RECALL ON IT.
WHEN I BOUGHT MY PACIFICA THE AUDIO USED TO GO LOUD AND SOFT. THE NEXT THING THAT HAPPENED WAS THE FM WOULD FLIP TO AM AND THE RADIO STATIONS WOULD CHANGE, U-CONECT WOULD CALL THE LAST PERSON I HAD CALLED THE DAY BEFORE, AND FLIP TO CLIMATE CONTROL. THEN, IT STARTED STALLING OUT AT INTERSECTIONS, A CLEAR AND PLEASANT DANGER!!! THE CAR WAS SITTING AT A LIGHT WAITING TO TURN ONE TIME AND GOING STRAIGHT THE OTHER TIME. BOTH TIMES IT HAD TO BE RESTARTED, HOLDING UP TRAFFIC. I AM NOW CONCERNED THIS WILL HAPPEN WHILE IN MOTION. OTHERS ON FACEBOOK HAVE SAID THIS HAS ALSO THIS HAPPENED TO THEM AND CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT IT, BUT CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE A FIX FOR IT. I HAVE HAD MY CAR INTO THE DEALER THREE TIMES NOW.
PACIFICA WAS COMING TO A STOP AFTER A MILITARY CHECKPOINT AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE COMING TO A STOP. THE SPEED WAS LESS THAN 30 MILES PER HOUR THE VEHICLE SHOWED A SERVICE ELECTRONIC SUSPENSION AND NEEDED TO BE PLACED IN PARK TO RESTART. IT DID RESTART IMMEDIATELY.
AN OBJECT FELL BETWEEN THE MIDDE SEAT AND THE ELECTRONIC SLIDING DOOR SO WHEN THE DOOR WAS ELECTRONICALLY OPENED THE OBJECT WAS CAUGHT CAUSING THE DOOR TO REVERSE AND TRY TO CLOSE HOWEVER I WAS LEANING THROUGHTHE DOOR AT THAT POINT AND THE DOOR CLOSED ON MY CHEST TRIGGERING THE DOOR TO TRY AND RE-OPEN. WHEN THE DOOR STARTED TO REPON I HIT THE OBJECT AGAIN IMMEDIATELY CLOSING WITHOUT ENOUGH TIME FOR ME TO GET MY BODY OUT. THE DOOR RE-CLOSED SQUISHING ME AND STOPPED. I WAS ABLE TO PUSH THE SIDE DOOR BUTTON TO OPENAND WRIGGLED OUT BUT THERE WAS A FAILURE IN THE LOGIC IF THE DOOR HITS SOMETHING BOTH OPENING THEN CLOSING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IF THIS HAPPENS THE DOOR CAN CRUSH YOU.
VEHICLE WAS BRIEFLY STOPPED IN TRAFFIC AT A LIGHT WITH ELECTRONIC START-STOP ENGAGED. WHEN FOOT WAS REMOVED FROM THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE STARTED BACK UP MOMENTARILY THEN SPUTTERED TO A STOP. THE ENGINE START/STOP BUTTON AND SHIFT KNOB WERE UNRESPONSIVE (COULD NOT SHIFT GEARS). NEUTRAL OVERRIDE CORD WAS PULLED, BUT INEFFECTIVE BECAUSE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE STILL SEEMED TO BE ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE MOVED OUT OF TRAFFIC INTO A SAFE LOCATION AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. HEATING AND POWER WINDOWS TURNED OFF AS WELL, AND POSSIBLY THE HAZARD LIGHTS WERE INEFFECTIVE (UNSURE BECAUSE IT WAS UNSAFE TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE AND CHECK).
VAN WILL STALL DURING LOW SPEED OR IDLE. STABILITY/TRACTION CONTROL WILL FLASH AND VAN WILL NEED TO BE RESTARTED. HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES IN INTERSECTIONS AND ONCE IN STOP AND GO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC.
THE VEHICLE DURING OPERATION SUDDENLY DECELERATED AND WOULD NOT MOVE ON TWO OCCASIONS. THE FIRST OCCASION HAPPENED LESS THAN 1000 MILES ON THE OD. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT 30MPH ON A CITY STREET WHEN IT LOST POWER TO THE WHEELS AND HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DRIVE. HAD TO TURN IT OFF AND ON AGAIN FOR IT TO OPERATE. THE SECOND OCCASION AT 5500 MILES IT JUST STOPPED AFTER PULLING OUT FROM A STOP SIGN IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WENT ON BRIEFLY AS IT WAS STOPPING. AGAIN THE ENGINE WAS ON BUT IT WOULD NOT MOVE. HAD TO RESTART THE VEHICLE FOR IT TO OPERATE.
TWICE NOW I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND THE CAR HAS TURNED ITSELF OFF. I LOOK AT THE DASH AND IT GIVES AND ERROR ABOUT BEING IN PARK SENSE MODE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAY I MUST HAVE HAD A VOLTAGE SPIKE BUT THEY CAN NOT REPRODUCE THE ERROR SO THEY CANNOT FIX IT. ITS PRETTY SCARY LUCKILY NO ONE WAS BARRELING UP BEHIND ME WHEN IT HAPPENED.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SUDDENLY WENT OFF AND STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING AT THE HIGHWAY SPEED LIMIT OF 65 AND AT 75. IT HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 7 TIMES DURING A ONE WEEK PERIOD WHILE ON 2 TRIPS. MY VAN HAS 15,500 MILES ON IT. SO FAR IT HAS ONLY OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE. IT HAS HAPPENED WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON AND WITH IT OFF. IT HAS HAPPENED WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID TO UPPER 20'S AND WHEN IT WA S IN THE UPPER 60'S.
THE CRASH WARNING SENSORS WILL RANDOMLY ACTIVATE WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF. HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS AND THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED.
THIS COMPLAINT IS JUST ONE OF MANY I'VE HAD. MOST RECENTLY, I'VE BEEN STALLED WHILE WAITING AT A RED LIGHT (THANKFULLY) ON A CITY STREET. I HAD AN ERROR MESSAGE COME ON SHORTLY FOLLOWED BY A PROMPT TELLING ME THAT START/STOP WAS REQUIRED. SO I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, RESTART AND THEN CAR DROVE. THIS HAPPENED TWICE IN ONE DAY AND DEALER COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. LEFT IT HAS PROTOCOL PASSED ALL RECOMMENDED CHECKPOINTS AND THAT AN ENGINEER HAS TO DETERMINE FIX.

WHILE SHE WAS EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL WAS TURNED COMPLETELY TO THE LEFT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ORCHARD CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (LOCATED AT 64600 VAN DYKE, WASHINGTON, MI 48095, (586) 430-5086) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIE ROD AND AXLES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. TWICE IN THE LAST WEEK WHEN SLOWING DOWN FOR A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE FLASHES A WARNING SIGN "STABILITY CONTROL?" AND THEN SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY. THEN A DISPLAY SAYS "SHIFT INTO PARK AND RESTART VEHICLE". THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. IF THIS HAPPENS AT A HIGHER SPEED YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2017 MODELS BUT OBVIOUSLY 2018 MODELS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
SITTING AT STOP LIGHT WAITING FOR IT TO CHANGE WHEN ENGINE JUST TURNED OFF. DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED OR WHAT TO DO, AFRAID I WOULD GET REAR-ENDED. LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I HAD NO POWER. I PUT VAN IN PARK, PUSHED THE IGNITION START BUTTON, VAN STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO PROCEED IN TRAFFIC. DIDN'T KNOW IF PROBLEM WAS RELATED TO THE FEATURE WHERE ENGINE TURNS OFF WHEN STOPPED IN TRAFFIC, THEN TURNS BACK ON WHEN YOU PRESS THE GAS. I PUSHED THE BUTTON SO ENGINE WOULDN'T TURN OFF UNTIL I GOT HOME SAFELY. NEAR ZERO OUTSIDE TEMPS AND I THOUGHT VEHICLE HAD DIED. LUCKILY, DRIVER BEHIND ME WAS PAYING ATTENTION AND DIDN'T JUMP THE GUN WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN OR I DEFINITELY WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED. APPARENTLY THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT OTHER PACIFICA DRIVERS HAVE EXPERIENCED. IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT. MAKES ME VERY UNEASY TO DRIVE IT NOT KNOWING WHEN IT MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN. WILL TAKE TO DEALER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
ENGINE TURNED OFF/STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE IN DRIVE GOING ABOUT 35 MPH ON A HIGHWAY EXIT RAMP. CHIMES STARTED BONGING AND 'D' ON DASHBOARD STARTED BLINKING. I WAS ABLE TO BRAKE TO A STOP. MSG APPEARED TO PUT CAR IN PARK TO RESTART. CAR RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY. THIS PROBLEM SOUNDS SIMILAR TO 2018 RECALL U87 FOR ENGINE STALLING, BUT MY VIN IS NOT COVERED IN RECALL. ALSO, NOTE THE 2017 RECALL U01 FOR ENGINE STALLING. SOME CONSUMERS NOTED IN THEIR COMPLAINTS THAT THE "FIX" DID NOT WORK. THIS IS VERY TROUBLING!! OBVIOUSLY TWO CONSECUTIVE YEAR RECALLS FOR ENGINE STALLING DOES NOT INSPIRE CONFIDENCE THAT THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN ADEQUATELY ADDRESSED. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR.
