Air bag warning light on
I heard a strange noise, so I looked under the front end of the car. Saw all that missing. This has happened in the last two weeks. I do not drive in bad weather.
all of the dash board instrument cluster lights turn on breifly,car speed starts to drop, lights on dash turn back off,[ all except seat belt lights] then car seems to restart itself and will reaccelerate.all this happens while we are driving in traffic at highway speeds, this is not good and could result in a very serious incident, not only for us but for othe
FUEL ODOR IN PASSENGER COMPARTMENT INVESTIGATED AND FUEL LEAK IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS FOUND. THE LEAK IS AT THE CONNECTION FROM THE FUEL TANK TO THE FUEL RAIL CONNECTION. THE CONNECTION IS ON THE VEHICLE RIGHT/PASSENGER SIDE AND AGAINST THE FIRE WALL. IF NO RECALL, AT LEAST ALL REGISTERED DRIVERS SHOULD BE NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. LEAK WAS DISCOVERED ON 1ST LOOK DUE TO GOOGLE SEARCH OF ISSUE. ISSUE IS NOTICED AT START UP AND DISAPPEARS (LEAK CONTINUES) WITH VEHICLE SPEED OR WITH AIR FLOW DILUTION. CUSTOMERS NEED TO FIX OR FACE THE POSSIBILITY OF A UNDER HOOD FIRE. THANKS.
THE CAR HAS BEEN OVERHEATING AT IDLE. WHEN DRIVING, IT MAINTAINS THE CORRECT TEMPERATURE AND RETURNS TO IT EVEN IF IT HAS GONE UP. IDLING AT A DRIVE THRU IS ENOUGH TO CAUSE A FULL OVERHEAT WITH SMOKE. WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF, A LOUD BUBBLING CAN BE HEARD. THE ENTIRE FAN ASSEMBLY AND HARNESS WAS JUST REPLACED. PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING. ORIGINALLY, FAN WOULD NOT TURN OFF ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. EVEN WHEN CAR WAS OFF. SPENT MANY MONTHS HAVING TO REMOVE THE FUSE BECAUSE THE RAN WOULD RUN THE ENGINE DRY OF POWER. THIS WOULD HAPPEN EVEN AFTER SHORT DRIVES WHEN THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND OFF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE MAKING A SHARP LEFT TURN INTO HER GARAGE, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PARKED THE VEHICLE. WHILE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE OF POWER STEERING FLUID LEAK FROM A HOLE ON THE POWER STEERING HOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO OLYMPIA CHRYSLER JEEP LOCATED AT 2110 CARRIAGE DR SW, OLYMPIA, WA 98502, (360) 754-5500, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE CONTACT INFORMED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 197,000.
I HAVE A PROBLEM WHIT MY STEERING WHEEL PUMP ON MY 06 PT. CRUISER AND FOR WHAT I HAVE. READ ON THE INTERNET THERE'S IS OTHER YEARS LIKE 03 04 05 THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND IS BEEN FIX BY DEALER BUT NOT ON THE 06 WHICH I KNOW ALOT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AS ME AND HONESTLY THIS IS PRETTY UNSAFE FOR DRIVERS
DRIVER REAR QUARTER WINDOW COMING LOOSE FROM CAR.
QUICK CONNECT FITTING ON THE PLASTIC FUEL LINE AT FIREWALL LEAKS FUEL, WHICH IS A FIRE HAZARD. THE PLASTIC FUEL LINE FROM THERE TO THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED A YEAR AGO, BUT NOW IT LEAKS AGAIN. FROM WHAT I HEAR, THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE CARS. THE O-RINGS CAN'T HANDLE THE CONSTANT ROTATIONAL MOTION BECAUSE OF THE ROCKING OF THE ENGINE BACK AND FORTH. CHRYSLER SHOULD ENGINEER A PROPER FIX.
JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR 3 DAYS AGO. THE MAIN FUEL LINE STARTED TO LEAK TODAY NEAR THE REAR ENGINE FIREWALL, WHERE THERE IS A CONNECTION TO SOME KIND OF VALVE. VERY VISIBLE FUEL LEAK AT THE CONNECTOR. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD DUE TO THE FUEL LINE LEAK BEING DIRECTLY ABOVE THE EXHAUST. CHRYSLER WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND AS I HAVE SEEN ON MANY FORUMS REGARDING THIS VEHICLE TYPE AND THIS SAME ISSUE, THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM THAT THE DEALER SHOULD MAKE RIGHT WITH THESE VEHICLES HAVING A "POTENTIAL FIRE ISSUE " AND RECALL THIS VEHICLE FOR THE FUEL ISSUE AND MOST IMPORTANT, IT'S POTENTIAL TO DESTROY THE VEHICLE AND CONTENTS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE FUEL CONNECTOR BEFORE SOMEONE BURNS UP IN THIS VEHICLE. I PLEAD WITH YOU TO HAVE THIS VEHICLE RECALLED DUE TO IT'S FUEL LEAKING ISSUE. THANK YOU. THGE FUEL LEAKS WHILE RESTING IN PLACE OR IN MOTION. THE AMOUNT THIS LEAK GIVES OUT IS MORE THAN ADEQUATE TO LEAK ONTO THE VEHICLES EXHAUST AND "BOOM", THERE GOES THE VEHICLE UP IN FLAMES.
ON 12/21/2018 I TOOK MY CAR TO THE OREGON DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY TO HAVE IT INSPECTED SO I COULD GET MY NEW TAGS. I HAD PASSED EVERY TWO YEARS BUT NOT THIS TIME. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A NEW LAW THAT REQUIRED THE VIN TO SHOW UP ON THE REPORT WHEN THEY HOOK UP THEIR EQUIPMENT TO MY ONBOARD COMPUTER/DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM AND MINE DID NOT. I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED INTO MY SYSTEM BY A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. I SPENT THE NEXT SIX MONTHS TRYING TO FIND OUT WHY IT WAS MISSING AND WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE BUT JUST GOT THE RUN AROUND OR OFFERS TO FIX IT FOR A LOT OF MONEY THAT THE DEQ INSPECTOR TOLD ME WAS UNNECESSARY WHEN I WENT THROUGH DEQ THE SECOND TIME IN MAY OF 2019. I EVEN WROTE TO CHRYSLER BUT TO NO AVAIL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY MY CAR WASN'T RECALLED IF THIS INFORMATION IS REQUIRED BY LAW BUT MINE IS MISSING AND SHOWS UP ON THE DEQ REPORT. I'VE INCLUDED THE TWO REPORTS I HAVE FROM 12/21/2018 AND 5/15/2019. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INFORMATION YOU CAN GIVE ME. THANK YOU.
CAR OVER HEATING ISSUES
MY CAR IS HANGING UP IN A LOWER GEAR MAY GEAR 2 AND THE ENGINE IS RAISING. THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. IT HAS DONE THIS A FEW TIMES WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. SOMETIMES THE ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF AND IT RUNS LIKE A GREAT VEHICLE BUT THEN IT WILL HANG UP AND GET STUCK IN A LOWER GEAR! I HAVE BEEN DRIVING INNER CITY WHEN THIS HAPPENS AND AFRAID TO TAKE IT ON THE HIGHWAY.
VEHICLE HAS SAME TIMP AND FAILED FUEL PUMP RELAY OF RECALL UNITS FROM MANUFACTURER AFFECTING 2007-2014, JEEP, DURANGO, AND TOWN AND COUNTRY. SEVERAL MECHANICS PREVIOUSLY COULD NOT FIND THE ISSUE WITH STALLING AND POOR ACCELERATION. THIS OCCURRED AND WORSENED OVER 6 MONTHS, BEFORE THE FUEL PUMP FINALLY FAILING.
AIRBAG ON PASSENGER SIDE DOES NOT WORK. HAVE HAD CAR WORKED ON SEVERAL TIMES. NEW COMPUTER INSTALLED. AM TOLD IT IS THE TIPM. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON THROWING CAR INTO LIMPING MODE. WILL NOT GO ABOVE 45 MPH. ONLY HAS 58,000 MILES ON IT. HAVENT HAD WRECK YET
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO THIRD GEAR AND FAILED TO DISPLAY THE PROPER GEAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ABERNETHY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (LOCATED AT 1442 E MAIN ST, LINCOLNTON, NC 28092, (704) 732-1890) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED (CODE: P0700). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED TWICE BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC IN DECEMBER, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,000. *DT
THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS AND REAR TURN SIGNALS QUIT WORKING. THE BULBS HAVE BEEN CHANGED AND THE CAR HAS BEEN TESTED. IT IS THE LIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM THAT IS FAULTY AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND TURN SIGNALS WILL NOT WORK AND THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE. I SEE THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE/RECALL WITH OTHER MODEL YEARS.
WHILE DRIVING, THE MOTOR SHUT OFF AND THEN STARTED AGAIN WITHIN A FEW SECONDS. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED WHEN TURNING A CORNER. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER AND AN ABNORMAL WHINING AND GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED THE FAILURE ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THE FAILURE COULD BE DUE TO THE HIGH PRESSURE HOSE RUBBING AGAINST THE TRANSAXLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 131,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND THE ENGINE INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. ALSO, THE VEHICLE RODE ROUGHLY WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE OIL, WATER PUMP, AND FUEL PUMP LEAKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,385. *TT *TR
SEAT BELT COMES UNFASTEN WHILE DRIVING. HAPPENS EVERTIME I DRIVE THE CAR. DRIVERS SIDE BELT IS THE ONLY ONE EFFECTED. HAPPENS WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED TO SECOND GEAR INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED HE PARKED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE TO HIS DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
WE ARE BEING TREATED IN A VERY UNCARING, RACIST, DISCRIMINATORY WAY BY THE GENERAL MANAGER DAN HAMRICK 702-432-2401, AT #LASVEGAS CHAPMAN DODGE #CHRYSLER' @VEGASDCJ 3175 EAST SAHARA LAS VEGAS NV 89104. HE HAS CONSISTENTLY REFUSED TO SEE US. HE HAS NEVER RETURNED OUR CALLS. I WAS EVEN THREATENED WITH GREAT BODILY HARM BY THE SERVICE MANAGER MIKE NICOSIA. I MADE A POLICE REPORT. WE TOOK OUR BEAUTIFUL PT CRUISER INTO LAS VEGAS #CHAPMAN DODGE CHRYSLER ON 10-13-17 BECAUSE THE #ENGINE LIGHT WAS STAYING ON. THEY INSTALLED AN EXPENSIVE 'DEFECTIVE' CHRYSLER #MOPAR TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) AND AN EXPENSIVE 'DEFECTIVE' MOPAR CHRYSLER POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM). BETWEEN 10-13-17 TO 11-21-17 (APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH) I HAD TO RETURN MY CHRYSLER FOR REPAIRS FIVE (5) TIMES & THEY INSTALLED THREE (3) PCMS & TWO (2) TIPMS WHICH WERE NO GOOD!!! MY CAR'S ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN ON 12-11-17 AND MY CAR ACCELERATED BY ITSELF, AND WE CRASHED!!! THIS WAS ONLY NINETEEN (19) DAYS AFTER MY CAR'S VERY LAST VISIT TO LAS VEGAS CHAPMAN #DODGE CHRYSLER ON 11-21-17. OUR CAR SUSTAINED GREAT BODY DAMAGE. IT CANNOT BE DRIVEN. THANK FATHER GOD NO ONE WAS KILLED!!! WE HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED UNTIL WE READ AN ARTICLE ABOUT CHRYSLER'S DEFECTIVE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULES PROBLEMS TITLED 'CHRYSLER TIPMS CAUSING POWER PROBLEMS - UPDATED OCTOBER 15, 2016' CHRYSLERPROBLEMS.COM/TRENDS/TIPM/. AMAZING!!! THAT ARTICLE LED US TO SIMILAR ARTICLES. THESE ARE THE RECEIPT ORDERS (WORK ORDERS) IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER: #6463649-1, #6464576-1, #6465489-1, #6467298-1, #6467796-1. THE PROBLEMS WERE NEVER REPAIRED AND MY CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN. I AM CHARGED A TOTAL OF $5,836.75 FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! PEASE HELP ME. THANK YOU.
VEHICLE ACCELERATION WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. WHILE DRIVING ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. I TRIED PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL NUMEROUS TIMES TO STOP THE ACCELERATION, BUT TO NO AVAIL. I TRIED SHIFTING THE AUTOMATIC SHIFTER FROM D (DRIVE ) TO 3RD GEAR, BUT STILL THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I APPLIED THE BRAKES WITH A FULL AMOUNT OF PRESSURE, VEHICLE WAS STILL REVVING UPWARDS.. I COULD SMELL BURNING BRAKES. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO SLOW DOWN WHERE THE ROAD WAS LEVEL, STILL WITH FULL PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES. I SHIFTED THE GEARS FROM 3RD TO NEUTRAL AND THEN PARK TO STOP THE REVVING,BUT IT CONTINUED AND I SHUT THE CAR OFF. I STARTED THE VEHICLE A FEW MOMENTS LATER AND THE REVVING NOW LONGER OCCURRED. I WAS ON AN ISOLATED HIGHWAY IN THE BACK COUNTRY. HAD I BEEN IN THE CITY THE RESULTS COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY. THIS SAME TYPE OF ACCELERATION (TOYOTA VEHICLE) HAPPENED TO A FAMILY LOCALLY AND THEY CRASHED AND ALL PERISHED IN THE RESULTING FIRE.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS NOT WORKING WENT OUT AND BOUGHT NEW HEADLIGHTS AND THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM, AND ALSO BLINKERS TO NOT FLASH FROM OUTSIDE OF CAR, ALSO WENT OUT AND BOUGHT BULBS THIS WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY RELATED DEFECT. THE INTERGRATED POWER MODULE 2006 CHRYSLER OR CRUISER CONTROLS HEADLIGHTS BLINKER IT CAN ONLY BE RESET BY DEALERSHIP OR REPLACE. I LOOKED UP F33 IT WAS A RECALL FOR DIRECTION SIGNAL BULB FICTION. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUES AND SHOULD HAVE A RECALL. PLEASE HELP I NEED TO DRIVE MY CAR. THANK YOU
WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN ABOUT OCTOBER 2014 AND WE HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED WITHIN A WEEK OF BUYING THE VEHICLE AND THE REPLACEMENT IGNITION SWITCH FAILED ON OR ABOUT SEPTEMBER 8, 2017. MY HUSBAND TRIED TO START THE CAR ON THAT DATE AND THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILED TO MAKE EVEN A SMALL NOISE LET ALONE START THE CAR. POSSIBLE LEAD IN PROBLEMS TO THE FAILURE OF THE IGNITION SWITCH WERE THE BRAKE LIGHTS BURNING OUT ONCE A WEEK AND THE ALARM INDICATING THAT THE KEYS WERE LEFT IN THE IGNITION WHEN THE DRIVER OPENED THE DOOR WHEN THE KEYS WERE IN THE DRIVER'S POCKET OR PURSE STARTING ABOUT 4 WEEKS BEFORE THE IGNITION SWITCH FULLY FAILED.
TAKATA RECALL- THE CAR WILL AT RANDOM TIMES NOT CHANGE OUT OF FIRST GEAR. I CAN PULL OVER SOMETIMES AND RESTART IT MULTIPLE TIME AND IT WOULD WORK. MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS ALSO RANDOMLY COME ON NOW. AND THE THERMOMETER SOMETIMES WILL BE BLANK AND SOMETIMES WILL SAY -12 WHEN IT IS 90 DEGREES, AND SOMETIMES IT IS ACCURATE. AND SOMETIMES IT WILL LIGHT UP SAYING I AM IN ALL GEARS, PARK, NEUTRAL, DRIVE, REVERSE. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS IF I AM ON THE INTERSTATE, OR GOING UP A HILL AND THIS HAPPENS I CAN'T GO OVER 35 MILES PER HOUR WITHOUT TAKING A CHANCE OF BLOWING MY ENGINE.
THE REAR HATCH KEEPS OPENING BY ITSELF WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR IS RUNNING AND MOVING DOWN THE STREET AND YOU HEAR THE LATCH ON THE LIFTGATE ACTIVATE UNLATCHING IT. YOU GET A CONFIRMATION NOTICE IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL THAT THE LIFTGATE IS OPEN. IT IS CONSISTENT ON THE FREQUENCY BUT NOT CAUSED BY A CERTAIN EVENT, LIKE HITTING A BUMP OR TURNING OR COMING TO A STOP, BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS. FINALLY DID SOME INTERNET SEARCHING AND IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON ISSUE WITH THE PT CRUISER LIFTGATE LATCHES FOR SEVERAL MODEL YEARS
WHILST DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY MY REAR DRIVER'S SIDE VISIBILITY WINDOW FLEW OFF OF MY CAR AND NEARLY HIT THE VEHICLE DRIVING IN THE FAST LANE TO MY IMMEDIATE LEFT AT 65MPH. THEY HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH IT. I STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PICKED IT UP.
NO HEADLIGHT, HIGH BEAM OR LOW BEAM OR TURN SIGNAL RIGHT SIDE. THIS BEGAN ABOUT 6/2017 WHEN REPLACING BULBS DID NOT WORK. A FEW MONTHS LATER THE HORN ALSO STOPPED WORKING. FUEL GAUGE STOPPED READING AND SOMETIMES READS FULL THEN DROPS TOWARD E THEN MAY SHOW HALF. NEVER A CONSTANT READING ANYMORE. ALL FUSES AND RELAYS TEST GOOD. TIPM APPEARS TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE, NO VISIBLE DAMAGE OR DEFECTS TO CIRCUIT BOARDS. NO GOOD VOLTAGE TO HEAD LAMPS OR TURN SIGNAL (METER SHOWS 11.5 VOLTS, BUT APPEARS TO BE A POTENTIAL AND NOT A GOOD VOLTAGE. CANNOT LIGHT A BULB BUT STILL SHOWS THE VOLTAGE ON THE METER), GROUNDS METER GOOD TO CHASSIS. WIRING HARNESS APPEARS GOOD WITH NO INDICATION OF DAMAGE. I HAVE SPENT SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS ALREADY ON TIMING BELTS, ALTERNATORS, INJECTORS AND OTHER MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES. DEALERS WONT LOOK AT IT WITHOUT SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS TO RUN DIAGNOSTICS AGAIN AND AGAIN. I SUSPECT TIPM AND PCM TO BE DEFECTIVE UNITS THROUGHOUT CHRYSLER PRODUCTS. YOU CANNOT DRIVE AT NIGHT BECAUSE I CANT GET THE LIGHTS TO WORK. CAR IS CURRENTLY PARKED BECAUSE IT IS UNUSABLE AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD GO HAYWIRE, GIVING FALSE READINGS. THE GAS TANK IS FULL, BUT THE FALSE ALARM SAYS EMPTY - AND THE CAR STALLS. I HAD TO PAY $1221 FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF ELECRONIC CLUSTER, LATER ON $660 FOR ANOTHER ELECTRONIC PART. THIS DIDN'T HELP AND THE CAR KEPT GIVING FALSE ALARMS. THE CAR WOULD STALL ON HIGHWAY.
WHILE DRIVING, THE INDICATOR LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL START FLASHING. THE GAS GAUGE, THE SPEEDOMETER, THE SEAT BELT LIGHT, AND OTHER LIGHTS, EXCEPT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, FLASH ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. SOMETIMES WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE FLASHING AND THE INDICATORS ARE FLUCUATING BACK AND FORTH, THE CAR HAS SLOWED AS IF IT WAS GOING TO STOP. IT HAS NOT STOPPED YET BUT THE CAR DID ENGAGE IN SOME BUCKING ACTION. IF I STOP THE CAR AND START IT AGAIN AFTER PUTTING IT IN PARK, GENERALLY THE LIGHTS DO NOT FLASH FOR THE REST OF DAY. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC MANY TIMES IN REFERENCE TO THIS ISSUE. THEY COULD NOT FIND THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY KEPT IT FOR TWO DAYS AND WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE AND THEREFORE DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. MY CAR HAS HAD EVERY CONCEIVABLE TEST AND HAS HAD PARTS REPLACED AND NOTHING HAS STOPPED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FROM FLASHING AND THE CAR NEARLY STALLING. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORP. CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO WAS NOT HELPFUL. THEY SIMPLY PUT ON HOLD FOR 45 MINUTES TO DEAL WITH MY COMPLAINT. I HAVE LOOKED ON-LINE AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH PT CRUISERS. CHRSYLER IS EMPLOYING RISK MANAGEMENT FOR THIS PROBLEM. I HOPE NO ONE IS KILLED.
I HAVE A 2006 CONVERTIBLE PT CRUISER TURBO LITE (TURBO TUNED TO TAKE REGULAR GAS) - AND HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THIS GUY I QUOTED BELOW HAD/HAS. THERE IS A SHORT JUMPER FUEL LINE (PLASTIC) THAT CONNECTS THE MAIN FUEL LINE THAT RUNS FROM THE TANK UP TO THE FIRE WALL WITH THE FUEL RAIL. THIS LINE LEAKS FUEL WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THE MAIN LINE. IT HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES AND CONTINUES TO LEAK. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE THIS LINE IS ONLY A FEW INCHES FROM THE TURBO OR EXHAUST AND ON A RIGHT HAND TURN COULD DRIP ON TO THE TURBO OR EXHAUST AND IGNITE...THE SMELL OF FUEL ENTERS THE CABIN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WHEN CODE WAS READ IT STATED THE COOLING SYSTEM WAS IN NEED OF REPAIR. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION INTO THE ISSUE WE FOUND THE FAN WORKED BUT WAS NOT BEING SWITCHED ON. SO WE REPLACED THE FAN SWITCH. IMMEDIATELY IT BLEW THE SWITCH. THE MECHANICS CANNOT IDENTIFY THE ISSUE. WHILE ADDITIONAL CODES JUST GET THROWN INTO THE PILE. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. I CHECK OFTEN TO SEE IF SOMETHING HAS BEEN RECALLED OR IF ANYONE HAS FOUND A SOLUTION THAT PROVIDES LASTING CHANGE BUT I HAVE NOT FOUND ANY ADVICE OR SOLUTION THAT ACTUALLY FIXES THE ISSUE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. THE ENGINE RPM REVS UP BUT THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT GO INTO THE HIGHER GEAR. THIS HAS RESULTED IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS WHEN THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE DUE TO FAILURE TO GO INTO THE HIGHER GEAR. THE INTEGRATED POWER MODULE WAS REPLACED. DROVE WITHOUT A PROBLEM FOR A WEEK AND THEN THE PROBLEM RECURRED. SUSPICION IS THAT IT IS THE TRANSMISSION MODULE; THAT THERE IS FAULTY COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION MODULES. ITS ALREADY COST ME OVER $1200 AND NO SOLUTION IN SIGHT. AFRAID TO TAKE IT OUT ON THE HIGHWAY AND RISK A CATASTROPHE. IF CHRYSLER IS NOT AWARE OF THE PROBLEM IT SHOULD BE. AFTER 5 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP, I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING RECURRENT PROBLEMS WITH MY 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER STOPPING WHILE DRIVING AND FAILING TO START. I HAVE HAD MY FUEL PUMP REPLACED, ALTERNATOR REPLACED, TIMING BELT AND WATER PUMP REPLACED, TRANSMISSION REPLACED, AND RADIATOR REPLACED. DESPITE THESE PARTS BEING REPLACED, MY CAR CONTINUES TO RANDOMLY STOP WHILE DRIVING AND THEN DOES NOT START. THESE ITEMS WERE REPLACED AS THEY WERE "THOUGHT" TO BE THE PROBLEM BUT OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE NOT THE PROBLEM. THESE REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COSTLY AND THEY HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. MOREOVER, THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AS THE LAST TIME MY CAR STOPPED WHILE DRIVING, I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION MAKING A LEFT TURN. I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. THIS WAS EXTREMELY TERRIFYING AND SUBSTANTIALLY DANGEROUS. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON SO THE MECHANIC IS NOT ABLE TO PIN POINT THE EXACT PROBLEM OF WHY MY CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AND THEN FAILS TO START. ALSO, AT TIMES, MY LIGHTS SHUT OFF AND TURN ON ALONG WITH THE WIPERS RANDOMLY BUT NOT WHEN THE CAR HAS SHUT OFF. THE LIGHT PROBLEM HAPPENS INDEPENDENTLY OF THE CAR SHUTTING OFF. IT SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN I TRY TO START THE CAR, IT WILL SOMETIMES TURN ON AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS BUT THEN THE CAR WILL SPUTTER A BIT AND THEN CAR SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY. I CAN NO LONGER DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY AND LOCAL DRIVING WHICH NECESSITATES STOPPING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS IS CHALLENGING TO SAY THE LEAST. BECOMING INCREASING DIFFICULT TO START; ENGINE BUCKS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP AND CONTINUES TO DO SO WHILE DRIVING. IT CONTINUES TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING AND MY MECHANIC CANNOT EVEN GET MY DASHBOARD TO FUNCTION; NONE OF MY GAUGES ARE OPERATIONAL AND OF COURSE I HAVE NO INTERIOR LIGHTING AT ALL. I HAVE READ SO MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND FIND IT DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND WHY CHRYSLER HAS NOT BEEN FORCED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES WITH THESE VEHICLES BEYOND OFFERING A KIT FOR PURCHASE WHICH WILL NOT GUARANTEE ACCEPTABLE RESULTS.
