DRIVIGN DOWN THE FREEWAY MY REAR PASSENGER SIDE STATIONARY WINDOW (WEDGE WINDOW) WAS SUCKED OFF THE CAR. UPON INSPECTION IT APPEARS THIS WINDOW WAS ORIGINALLY GLUE IN. WHILE READING OF THIS PROBLEM ONLINE FROM OTHER OWNERS I HAVE NOTICED A TREND IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN A LOT WITH THIS PARTICULAR WINDOW ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FOR THE CAR. WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED. I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE FREEWAY IN MOVING TRAFFIC BEING FOLLOWED BY CARS. THIS COULD HAVE CREATED A SEVER PROBLEM. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HIT BY THE FLYING WINDOW. *TR
STRESS CRACK IN WINDSHIELD. BEGANS BELOW THE SEAL, MIDDLE OF WINDSHIELD. CHRYSLER STATES THAT AT 35,000 MILES MY CAR IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. SERVICE MEN TOOK PICTURES AND SAID I MIGHT GET A MERIT ON WARRANTY. GLASS IS ONLY COVERED FOR 12,00 MILES. THOUGH THE SERVICE MEN DID SAY THAT IT WAS INDEED A STRESS CRACK, NO SIGNS OF IMPACT. I KNOW NOTHING HAS HIT MY WINDSHIELD, OR I WOULD HAVE TAKEN THIS UP WITH CSAA. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. CHRYSLER HAD TO RECALL 2006 QUARTER PANELS DUE TO THIS AS WELL. I HAVE A 2006 LIMITED. *TR
THE SPEEDODOMETER DROPPED TO ZERO. COMES AND GOES AND THE DEALER CAN NOT GET A READING BECAUSE IT DOES NOT DO IT WHEN THEY CHECK IT. NEXT THE AC KICKS IN AND OUT OF COOL AIR. NEXT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE CAR DIES. I HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND MANUALLY TURN BECAUSE IT DIED. I NEARLY HIT A CEMENT WALL. NOW THE DEALER SAYS HE CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. *JB

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING DOWN AND ENTERING THE HIGHWAY AT 45 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. . THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,734. UPDATED 09/18/07. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE HATCH ON THE REAR TRUNK WAS REPLACED SEVEN TIMES WHICH CAUSED THE ALARM TO ACTIVATE AND DRAIN THE BATTERY. THE WARNING LIGHT FOR THE REAR DOOR INDICATED THAT THE DOOR WAS AJAR WHICH ALSO ACTIVATED THE ALARM. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE VEHICLE IS INCLUDED IN RECALL # 07V149000 (VISIBILITY:GLASS). THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS TINTED WINDOWS AND THE DEALER IS REFUSING TO PAY THE COST TO HAVE THE TINT REPLACED ON THE REPAIRED WINDOW. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 13,000. UPDATED 02-01-08. *KB
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY THE DOOR LOCKS STARTED CLICKING LIKE THEY DO WHEN HITTING THE WIRELESS REMOTE. AT THE SAME TIME THE FLASHERS WOULD GO ON. THIS CONTINUED INTERMITTENTLY ALL THE WAY TO WORK ON CITY STREETS AS WELL. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED THE DEALER AT THIS TIME. MY PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT WENT ON, SOMETIMES WHEN I WAS DRIVING. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO MY MECHANIC IN JANUARY FOR A COMPLETE BRAKE JOB. THE ROTORS NEEDED REPLACING. I HAD LESS THAN 10000 WHEN THE CAR WOULD SHIMMY VIOLENTLY WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. I TOOK IT BACK TO MY MECHANIC, AND HE INFORMED ME THAT THE ROTORS WERE NOT OF A MATERIAL MADE TO WITH STAND MUCH HEAT. HE ADVISED A BEEFIER ROTOR. THERE WAS NOW A HEAVY DUTY ROTOR AVAILABLE ON THE AFTER-MARKET. I DID NOT TAKE THIS PROBLEM TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THEY MOST LIKELY WILL TELL ME I WAS TOO HARD ON THE BRAKES. IF THAT WERE THE CASE THE HONDA, WHICH HAD 107000 MILES ON IT WOULD HAVE BEEN IN FOR BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES BY NOW, IT WAS ON THE FIRST SET AND FINALLY NEEDED PADS. . ANOTHER CAR DID NOT SEE ME COMING AND PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME. WHEN I WENT TO HIT THE HORN IT WOULD NOT HONK. I HAD TO REPOSITION MY HAND SEVERAL TIMES TO FIND THE RIGHT SPOT AND THEN PUSH VERY HARD. I PLANNED TO GET RID OF THIS CAR AND NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER AMERICAN CAR AGAIN. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH THEM. * AK

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PART FOR THE RECALL REPAIR IS ON BACK ORDER AND THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE AVAILABLE. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
HORN WILL NOT BLOW UNLESS EXCESSIVE FORCE IN USED AND ONLY IN CERTAIN SPOTS. *AK
2006 PT CRUISER WITH RECALL ON REAR QUARTER GLASS CUSTOMER STATES THAT IT'S A TEMPORARY FIX**CC THE CONSUMER STATED THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN DUE TO A DIRTY THROTTLE. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DOWNSHIFT FROM FOURTH TO THIRD GEAR. THE STICK WENT FORWARD, BUT THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT SHIFT. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN AND CRASHED INTO A SIGN. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 23,523 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
THE 2006 PT CRUSIER HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS SINCE DAY ONE!! ALL THE LIGHTS AND GAUGES ON THE DASHBOARD WENT HAYWIRE AND THEN THE CAR SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. TOOK THE CAR TO A CRYSTLER SERVICE STATION 4 TIMES, AND THEY COULD NOT FIX IT BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I WAS ALMOST IN AN ACCIDENT YESTERDAY BECAUSE OF THE CAR JUST STOPPING WHILE DRIVING. I NEED HELP!!! I AM A SINGLE MOTHER AND TERRIFIED FOR MY SON AND MYSELF. *AK
I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON 2/24/07 IN WHICH A LADY RAN A RED LIGHT AND HIT THE FRONT END OF MY 2006 PT CRUISER AT MAYBE 30 MPH. I HIT MY HEAD FORCEFULLY AGAINST THE DRIVER PANEL NEAR THE WINDSHIELD IN WHICH MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND I SUSTAIN HEAD INJURY WITH LOSS OF CONSCIOUSNESS. I NOW HAVE A HEMATOMA WITH A BLACK EYE, SEVERE HEAD ACHES, SEVERE NECK AND SHOULDER PAIN, AND SOME DIZZINESS THROUGHOUT THE DAY, I AM ALSO SUFFERING FROM PAINFUL BODY ACHES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MY LOWER BACK AND KNEES, TOWING AND PARAMEDICS WERE CONFUSED AS TO WHY MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, ALSO THE SENSOR HAS BEEN ACTIVATED AND I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD BE DRIVING AND WITHOUT NOTICE THESE BAGS CAN DEPLOY IF THE CAR IF FIXABLE, I AM AFRAID, I HAVE 2 CHILDREN WHO RIDES WITH ME IN THIS CAR. I WAS ENTERING HIGHWAY AND I STEPPED ON THE EXCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 45MPH AND STARTED TO STALL ALL LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD LIT UP AND THERE WAS A SEMI TRUCK GOING 70 MPH COMMING FROM BEHIND ALMOST REAR ENDED ME I HAVE NOW HAD TO CHANGE 4 SENSORS IN THIS VEHICAL NOW JUST RECENTLY MY HUSBAND HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF COMPLETLY WHILE HE WAS DRIVING.,
TRAVELING BEHIND PT CRUISER WHEN LIGHTS ARE REQUIRED CANNOT SEE TAILLIGHTS. THEY ARE EXTREMELY SMALL AND DIM. ALMOST CALLED POLICE TO REPORT VEHICLE TRAVELING WITH NO LIGHTS ON UNTIL I GOT RIGHT UP ON THIS VEHICLE, VERY, VERY DANGEROUS. *NM
NEW 2006 PT CRUISER WITH 6700 MILES STARTED DRIPPING OIL AT FIRST, AND THEN LARGE PUDDLES STARTED TO APPEAR. TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER WHERE AFTER A DAY I WAS TOLD THAT THE MAIN CRANK SEAL WAS LEAKING AND BOTH CAM SHAFT SEALS WERE FOUND TO BE WET WITH OIL. DEALER REPLACED CRANKSHAFT SEAL AND CAM SEALS. PICKED UP THE CAR AND THE FOLLOWING DAY THE CAR STARTED TO LEAK PUDDLES OF OIL AGAIN. CAR WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TORN DOWN TWICE IN ATTEMPT TO FIND THE LEAK A DIE WAS ALSO ADDED TO THE OIL TO TRY AND LOCATE THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK. AFTER ONE DAY I WAS OFFERED A LOANER VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THEY FOUND THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK, THE MAIN CRANK SEAL WAS LEAKING AGAIN AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER PARTS. THE NEXT DAY I WAS TOLD WHILE ORDERING THE NECESSARY PARTS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) ISSUED BY CHRYSLER WAS FOUND AND IT STATED A DEFECT WITH THE BLOCK WAS CAUSING THE CRANKSHAFT TO WALK BACK AND FORTH CRUSHING THE SEAL. A NEW ENGINE BLOCK WAS ORDERED AND INSTALLED. *JB
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, 1 QUART /PER 1000 MILES FUTURE ENGINE FAILURE 2006 PT CRUISER WITH ONLY 4500 MILES ON IT WITH EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PT CRUISER. THE DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE CONTACT WAS IN A CAR CRASH WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH , ANOTHER VEHICLE CAUSED THE CRASH. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE FENDER AND THE AXLE WERE DAMAGED. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED, AND NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED DURING THE CRASH. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS ATTACHED TO THE FRAME, AND HE WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHY THEY DIDN'T DEPLOY. THE DEALER EXPECTED HER TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AFTER REPAIRING IT,BUT THE CONTACT DIDN'T FEEL THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE. DAIMLER CHRYSLER ENGINEERS HAVE TAKEN PICTURES OF THE VEHICLE , AND STATED THEY WOULD CONTACT THE DRIVER WITHIN 72 HOURS. THERE WAS NOTIFICATION VIA MAIL WHICH STATED THAT SOMEONE WOULD CONTACT HER IN 12 BUSINESS DAYS. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED IN TWO SPOTS. THE CRACKS ARE LOCATED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE MIDDLE VENT. THE VEHICLE IS PARKED IN THE SUN FOR HOURS AT A TIME. THE VIN AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 36,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.

STARTING AROUND NOV OF 2006 WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INDICATOR LIGHTS TURN ON; ALL THE GAUGES GO DEAD I.E. THE SPEEDOMETER, THE TACHOMETER, THE GAS GAUGE ALL GO TO ZERO. THE WARNING SOUNDS BEEP CONSTANTLY. THE 2006 PT CRUISER WILL LOSE POWER AND/OR SEVERELY HESITATES, POWER STEERING WILL FAIL, THE BRAKES WILL FAIL, I HAVE HAD TO USE THE HAND BRAKE ONE TO MANY TIMES TO SLOW THE CAR DOWN. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR MISSES WITH OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROADS. I CURB THE CAR TWICE, DAMAGING MY TIRES ONCE, SO AS TO NOT HIT OTHER DRIVERS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR NOW. I HAVE TAKING IT MASSEY-YARDLEY WHERE I BOUGHT THE PT, TO HAVE LOOKED AT OVER A DOZEN MAYBE EVEN MORE I HAVE LOST COUNT, I HAVE TRIED TO LEMON THE CAR, CHRYSLER STATED THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE TAKING THE PT TO OTHER DEALERSHIPS WITH THE SAME RESULT. JUST RECENTLY I TOOK THE CAR IN AGAIN TO MASSEY-YARDLEY FOR POOR GAS MILEAGE AND THE SAME POWER PROBLEM, THIS TIME WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ACTIVE, IN NOV OF 2007, THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A BAD INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND A BAD OXYGEN SENSOR, WHICH THEY REPLACED. I AM STILL HAVING THE ABOVE STATED PROBLEM, THE DEALERSHIP STATED ON NOV 16 OF 2007 THEY KNOW SOMETHING IS WRONG BUT SINCE THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE THE ERROR TO TROUBLE SHOOT IT THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO SAID SINCE I'M NOT HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS I SHOULD GO TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT! I'M GOING TO DO THAT BUT IT'S HARD WHEN YOU HAVE TO WORK! PLUS MASSEY-YARDLEY WILL NOT GIVE ME A STATEMENT TO THAT FACT OF UNKNOWN DEFECT IN WRITING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT TWO WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING HER VEHICLE, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND STEERING COLUMN BEGAN TO VIBRATE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH. THE MORE SHE ACCELERATES, THE MORE THEY VIBRATE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE FRONT AXLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND STEERING COLUMN CONTINUED TO VIBRATE AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANY FAILURE. ON HER NEXT VISIT TO THE DEALER, SHE WAS TOLD THAT HER VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND SHE SHOULD HAVE RETURNED SOONER. SHE RETURNED TO THE DEALER FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 37,263 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
ENTERING THE HIGHWAY, WENT TO ACCELERATE, ENGINE REVVED BY DID NOT MOVE. PULLED VEHICLE TO SIDE. COULD NOT GET VEHICLE TO MOVE FORWARD OR REVERSE. HAD TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. LOW REV SHAFT FOUND BROKEN. CAUSED DAMAGE TO TRANSMISSION. TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPLACEMENT. THIS IS A 2006 VEHICLE WITH ONLY 40,000MILES. *TR

DRIVING AT 65 MPH ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WHEN A REAR QUARTER WINDOW FELL OUT, BLOWING BACKWARDS AND STRIKING THE FOLLOWING CAR. THE WINDOW IN QUESTION WAS ONLY GLUED TO ITS FRAMEWORK, NO SCREWS OR CLIPS OF ANY SORT. A RECALL TO SECURE THE WINDOW PERMANENTLY, USING SOMETHING BESIDES GLUE, IS THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE CONTACT STATED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE FAILED. THIS CAUSES THE AIR BAG TO NOT DEPLOY, EXTERIOR LIGHTS, INTERIOR LIGHTS, AND ALL OTHER ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES TO FAIL AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AT A COST OF $100 AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THERE ARE NO RECALLS OR WARRANTY, AND THE COST OF THE REPAIRS WOULD BE $600. THE DEALER ALSO INFORMED THEM TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER AND ASK IF THEY WOULD HELP WITH THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED, AND THEY STATED THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE WOULD BE NO ASSITANCE WITH THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
ON SEPTEMBER 16, OCTOBER, 27, MARCH 6, AND APRIL 24, AFTER HAVING PARKED MY CAR ALL DAY IN THE SUN AND UPON STARTING FOR HOME WITH THE AIRCONDITIONING ON LOW, MY CAR STALLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT BETWEEN 35-40MPH. EACH TIME IT STALLED WITHIN 5-10 MINUTES OF HAVING BEEN STARTED. EACH TIME ALL THE RED INDICATOR LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD BLINKED ON AND OFF. EACH TIME I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, AND RESTART THE ENGINE TO CONTINUE HOME. EACH TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. EACH TIME THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT KEPT MY VEHICLE (A 2006 PT CRUISER PURCHASED IN FEBRUARY OR 2006) FOR BETWEEN 2-7 DAYS AND COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM OR REPLICATE THE STALL. I REPORTED THE SITUATION TO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT CHRYSLER CORPORATION IN DECEMBER AND AGAIN IN APRIL. I HAVE ALSO SPOKEN WITH THE GENERAL MANAGER AT NORMANDIN CHRYSLER. I FEEL THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE, BUT I HAVE LITTLE RECOURSE BUT TO DRIVE IT SINCE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT CHRYSLER CORPORATION WILL DO NOTHING IF THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE REPLICATED OR IDENTIFIED. I AM A LONG-TIME CHRYSLER PRODUCT CUSTOMER HAVING BOUGHT ALL OF MY CARS AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP SINCE 1979.
TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE - 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER CONVERTIBLE. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. THE OIL LIGHT IMMEDIATELY WENT OFF BUT THEN CAME BACK ON AGAIN OVER AND OVER AND OVER. I WAS WITHIN 300 MILES OF NEEDING MY SECOND OIL CHANGE. I DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THINKING IT MAY BE A COMPUTER GLITCH. WHEN I GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE. WHEN YOU SEE THREE MECHANICS LOOKING UNDER THE HOOD AND HOLDING THEIR HANDS UP WITH LOOKS OF DISMAY ON THEIR FACES......THAT IS NOT A GOOD THING. AFTER DIAGNOSTIC TESTS, THE DEALERSHIP FOUND THAT THERE WAS 1/8TH OF AN INCH OF "END PLAY" IN THE ENGINE AND THE REAR MAIN SEAL BLEW. THE CAR HAD TO HAVE A TOTAL ENGINE REPLACEMENT BECAUSE MORE THAN 70% OF THE ENGINE WAS RUINED. THE CAR WAS COVERED WITH OIL TOP TO BOTTOM ON THE OUTSIDE (PAINT AND CONVERTIBLE TOP) FOR WEEKS WHILE THIS ENGINE WAS REPLACED. AFTER THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED THE CAR SEEMED TO HAVE MORE PROBLEMS AND THE DEALERSHIP PICKED IT UP ON ROLLBACK AND AFTER ANALYSIS SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THERE WAS A SOUND OF WIND RUSHING THROUGH THE VEHICLE. SHORTLY AFTER THE SOUND BEGAN, THE QUARTER GLASS ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE FLAPPED LOOSELY IN THE WIND BEFORE BLOWING OFF COMPLETELY, AND SHATTERING ON THE ROAD. A SERVICE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE HORN IN THE VEHICLE FUNCTIONED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHERE THE HORN MECHANISM IN THE STEERING COLUMN WAS REPLACED. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED FOLLOWING THE REPLACEMENT.
THE HORN IS HARD TO LOCATE AND BLOW. TERRIBLE FUEL MILEAGE - 4 CYL CAR ONLY GETS 16 MPG AND EATS GAS BADLY. CHRYSLER'S BOOK, BROCHURES ETC. CLEARLY STATE THAT NOTHING BUT A STANDARD 2.4L 180HP TURBO ENGINE IS TO GO IN THIS CAR AND CHRYSLER PUT A REGULAR (NON-TURBO) ENGINE IN THIS CAR. CHRYSLER LIES AND SAYS THAT THE DOWNGRADED NON-TURBO ENGINE IS AN OPTION. BUT THERE IS NO OPTIONAL ENGINE AVAILABLE FOR THIS CAR AND ANOTHER ENGINE IS NOT SUPPOSED TO GO IN THE CAR. I HAD MY OIL CHANGE DONE AT WESTBORN CHRYSLER AND THE HOOD LATCH MALFUNCTIONED WHICH CAUSED MY HOOD TO OPEN ON THE HIGHWAY. THEY HAVE REFUSED TO MAKE THE PROPER REPAIRS TO A LOYAL CUSTOMER WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED MY DEATH. *JB
HERE IS AN EXTRACT OF WHAT I SEND TO CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE, WHICH THEY REJECTED- NO INJURY WAS INVOLVED: I DO HAVE AN ISSUE WITH ONE REPAIR THAT WAS NEEDED, THOUGH. I HAD TAKEN THE CRUISER IN FOR SERVICE ON AUG 7, 2006 AT THE ADVICE OF OAKLAWN MOBILE IN CRANSTON, RI. I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WITH THE CRUISER WAS TO DO WITH A STEERING RACK THAT PURITAN REPLACED IN 2003 AND REPAIRED VIA A RECALL AGAIN IN 2005. HOWEVER, IT WAS DUE TO WORN FRONT-END PARTS. SPECIFICALLY BOTH FRONT TIE RODS, WHEEL BEARINGS, AND CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS. GIVEN THAT THE CAR ONLY HAS 40,400 MILES AND HAD JUST COME OFF WARRANTY, I FOUND IT ODD THAT PARTS WOULD WEAR OUT THAT FAST. ESPECIALLY SINCE THE VEHICLE IS GENTLY DRIVEN. I DECIDED TO REVIEW THE NHTSA WEBSITE TO SEE IF I COULD FIND ANY INFORMATION RELATING TO THIS SORT OF REPAIR. IT TURNS OUT THAT THERE WERE 20 ODD COMPLAINTS ABOUT SUSPENSION PROBLEMS SPECIFIC TO THE '02 CRUISERS. MOST OF THE INFORMATION WAS REDACTED, BUT I DID FIND (AND ENCLOSE) ONE COMPLAINT THAT WAS VERY SIMILAR TO MINE. I WISH TO REQUEST FROM DAIMLERCHRYSLER WHAT I THINK IS FAIR AND EQUITABLE COMPENSATION IF THE FORM OF 90% OF THE REPAIR BILL OF $1320.64 TO BE REFUNDED. I TAKE THIS UP WITH THE COMPANY RATHER THAN THE DEALER. THE ENCLOSED COMPLAINT, AS WELL AS THE SERVICE REP AT PURITAN, STATED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH EARLY PT CRUISERS. I WOULD ACCEPT A 10% REDUCTION FOR NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE VEHICLE, AS A REASONABLE CONSUMER WOULD EXPECT SOME SORT OF SUSPENSION WEAR AFTER 40,000 MILES, RATHER THAN 100% WEAR THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. *NM

I HAVE A NEW 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER LIMITED. IT HAS APPROX 4200 MILES ON IT. LAST WEEKEND IT STARTED HEAVILY LEAKING OIL FROM THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE. THE OIL LEVEL WAS DOWN ALMOST 3 QUARTS WHEN I DISCOVERED IT, AND STILL NO INDICATION ON THE DASHBOARD. I TOOK THE CAR TO TOWN & COUNTRY CHRYSLER IN LEVITTOWN NY ,MONDAY MORNING. TUESDAY THEY DIAGNOSE THE MAIN CAM SEAL HAD BURST. THEY BELIEVE IT WAS CAUSED BY AN INCORRECT BORE SIZE ON THE BLOCK. THEY WILL HAVE TO INSTALL A NEW ENGINE BLOCK IN THE CAR. IF THE DIAGNOSES IS CORRECT, ENGINE BLOCKS TO MY KNOWLEDGE ARE NOT BORED OUT BY HAND , BUT BY ROBOTICS . THEREFORE I AM CERTAIN MY ISN'T OR WON'T BE THE ONLY COMPLAINT..THIS MIGHT BE A QUALITY CONTROL ISSUE. *JB

I WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION WITH A GREYHOUND BUS AND A PT CRUISER. AT AN UNDERPASS IN TUCSON I HIT THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE TAKING A LEFT OFF INTERSTATE 10. THE GREYHOUND BUS WAS MAKING A LEFT THAN A QUICK RIGHT. WHEN HIS BACK END WENT OUT MY CRUISER WAS HIT ON THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE, CAUSING SIGNIFICANT PROPERTY DAMAGE TO THE CAR AND LANDED ME IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM WITH FACE INJURIES. SEVERAL TIMES I HAVE HAD TO FEEL AROUND ON THE WHEEL PUSHING AND PUSHING TO MAKE IT WORK. IN A SITUATION WHERE THE HORN IS NECESSARY IT IS TOO LATE. I DID NOT HAVE THE PROBLEM WITH MY 2002 MODEL. I DO NOT USE THE HORN OFTEN BUT AS A WARNING TO AVOID INCIDENTS. IT IS A NECESSARY PART OF THE VEHICLE.
