TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A SLIGHT POPPING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. SHE LOOKED BACK AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW HAD DISCONNECTED ITSELF FROM THE FRAME. THE WINDOW WAS HANGING OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. SHE DROVE HOME AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY COULD REPLACE THE WINDOW. THE CONTACT FOUND RECALLS FOR HER VEHICLE, INCLUDING NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V149000 (VISIBILITY:GLASS, SIDE/REAR) FOR THE SAME FAILURE SHE WAS EXPERIENCING. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT IF THE FAILURES ARE IDENTICAL, THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE REPAIRED ACCORDING TO THE RECALL. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 80,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE FAILED TO START. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, HE NOTICED A POWDERY SUBSTANCE AND SEVERE CORROSION ON THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE BATTERY WAS LEAKING FLUID FROM THE POSITIVE TERMINAL. THE BATTERY AND ALL ASSOCIATED CABLES WERE REPLACED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 16,000.
MY WIFE HAS A 2006 PT CRUISER. AROUND 5/14/2009 IT STARTED SPUTTERING WHEN IT IS AT AN IDLE. THE MOTOR DOES FINE WHEN YOU ARE IN MOTION. MY WIFE WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS THE COOLING SYSTEM FAN BEHIND THE RADIATOR. THIS CAR HAS ONLY 38,000 MILES ON IT. IF I 'M NOT MISTAKEN A PART LIKE THAT SHOULD LAST LONGER AND NOT BREAK DOWN AS SOON AS THE WARRANTY RUNS OUT. I NEED TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE HAD ANY OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THIS PART AND WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO TO TAKE CARE OF IT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER VEHICLE OVERHEATED WITHOUT WARNING. SHE FOUND DROPLETS OF OIL AND COOLANT UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION, IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT THE FANS WERE INOPERATIVE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 74,000.

I HAVE AN 2006 CHRY PT CRUISER. THE FRONT WIPER POWER MODULE HAS GONE OUT ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS. SO WHEN IT RAINS I CANNOT USE MY FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS AT ALL WHEN I DRIVE CAUSE THEY DO NOT WORK AND IT IS VERY HARD AND DANGEROUS FOR ME TO TRY AND DRIVE WITHOUT THEM. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD COST $1,100. THE CONTACT WILL CALL THE MANUFACTURER FOR FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE VEHICLE HAS GOODYEAR EAGLE TIRES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEEL BELTED RADIAL SEPARATED FROM ONE OF THE TIRES AND LEFT A HOLE. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE FLATTENED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A GOODYEAR TIRE STORE AND THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY BECAUSE OF THE HOLE. THE GOODYEAR STORE STATED THAT THE CONTACT'S DRIVING AND FAILURE TO HAVE THE TIRES ALIGNED PROPERLY CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED A CLAIM NUMBER AND SENT HIM TO ANOTHER GOODYEAR TIRE STORE. THE VIN, TIRE SIZE, AND DOT NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,400.
OIL LEAKS DISCOVERED. 2 DIFFERENT MECHANICS REPLACED FRONT CRANK SEAL ONLY TO HAVE SEAL PUSHED OUT DUE TO END PLAY. HAD ENGINE REPLACED @ $3,836. WAS TOLD THAT END PLAY WAS WITHIN FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS ON 2006 ENGINE. THE PT CRUISER IS A 2006 WITH 45,000 MILES ON ODOMETER. MECHANIC STATED THAT NEW ENGINE WILL WORK FINE. OLD ENGINE HAD BUGS IN IT. *TR
MY HUSBAND WAS HEADING BACK HOME FROM IDAHO AND THE CAR OVER HEATED IN TREMONTON. HE CALLED AND ASKED IF THERE WAS ANY OIL OR ANYTHING IN THE DRIVEWAY. THERE WAS. WE HAVE NEVER HAD A LEAK UP TO THIS POINT WITH THE CRUISER. HE WAS STUCK FOR QUITE A WHILE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET HOME. WE ARE NOW WAITING ON THE DEALERSHIP TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG. IT SOUNDS LIKE FROM ALL OF THE BOARDS THAT I HAVE READ THAT IT IS NOT UST A SMALL ISSUE. WHEN IS CHRYSLER GOING TO GET IT IN GEAR AND DO A RECALL SO NO ONE ELSE GETS STUCK, HURT OR EVEN KILLED BECAUSE OF THE THEIR NEGLIGENCE? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE ENGINE UNEXPECTEDLY STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE HAD OVERHEATED AND CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE TURBO ENGINE WAS REPLACED PREVIOUSLY IN 2009. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE VEHICLE HAS GOODYEAR EAGLE TIRES, SIZE P/205/55/R16 WITH SCHRADER VALVE STEMS, MODEL TR413(NA). WHILE CHECKING THE AIR IN THE TIRES ,THE VALVE STEM ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE FAILED HALFWAY IN THE THREADED AREA, WHICH CAUSED THE TIRE TO BLOW. WITHIN THE VALVE STEM, THE CONTACT NOTICED GREEN CORROSION ON EACH TIRE WHERE THE STEM WAS LOCATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VALVE STEM FAILED AND CAUSED THE TIRE TO BLOW. THE VALVE STEM HAS BEEN REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE TIRE STEM; THEREFORE, HE WOULD NOT BE REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 14,272.
DEAR SIR/MADAM: I HAVE A 2006 CHYRSLER PT CRUISER HATCHBACK, AND FOR THE PAST YEAR I HAVE EXPERIENCED COMPLETE SHUTDOWNS OF THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENS UNEXPECTEDLY, I HAVE NO WARNING AND IT IS SCARY. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN THE CAR. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO TWO DIFFERENT CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS IN FLORIDA, AND BOTH TOLD ME THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. FIRST OF ALL, THEY OBVIOUSLY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, SO I FEEL LIKE THEY WROTE IT OFF AS OPERATOR ERROR. I DON'T CARE WHAT THEIR DIAGNOSIS COMPUTER SAID, THERE IS A DEFINITE PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE COMPUTER IN MY CAR. TO SHUTDOWN UNEXPECTEDLY, AT ANYTIME IS TOTALLY UNSAFE AND A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK TO ME AND THE TRAVELING PUBLIC. BOTH MY DAUGHTERS HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR AT SEPARATE TIMES AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME SHUTDOWNS. THIS IS A LIABILITY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE AND NO ONE AT CHRYSLER WILL LISTEN. I HAVE A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER THAT IS STALLING OUT AT RANDOM TIMES. IT HAS STALLED OUT GETTING ONTO FREEWAY, AT FULL SPEED ON THE FREEWAY IN FRONT OF TRUCKS. IT STALLS OUT IN INTERSECTIONS. I'VE HAD IT IN THE SHOP A NUMBER OF TIMES AND EVEN PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I'VE BEEN TOLD CHRYSLER HAS RULES ABOUT CHECKING TO SEE IF THERE ARE PROBLEMS W/ OTHER CARS LIKE MINE. I'VE FOUND QUITE A BIT OF INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET REGARDING THE SAME PROBLEM. I'M NOT GETTING ANYWHERE. I NEED HELP. I'VE PAID THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR WORK ON THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WARRANTY TO DRIVE A CAR THAT IS STILL NOT SAFE. I CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY A NEW ONE AND NOBODY WILL HELP ME. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS. I AM ESTIMATING MILEAGE WHEN THIS STARTED TO BE APPROXIMATELY 25,000 MILES ON THE CAR. IT WAS STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. NOW I HAVE 46907 MILES ON THE CAR AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. IT SEEMS TO BE WORSE WHEN IT IS HOT OUTSIDE. THE DEALERSHIPS RESPONSES IN LOUISIANA, ALABAMA, AND MISSISSIPPI HAVE ALL BEEN THE SAME. WE CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. WE DON'T HAVE ANY RECORD OF ANY PTS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. INTERNET SEARCHES SHOW THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM. TODAY I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP IN FLOWOOD, MS THAT THE CAR ISN'T GOING TO BE MADE AFTER FRIDAY; MAKING THE PARTS TO TRY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM HARDER MOVING FORWARD. I OR SOMEONE AROUND ME IN MY CAR OR ANOTHER CAR ARE GOING TO BE KILLED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. WHILE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED ON AND THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ACTIVATED, THE VEHICLE WOULD OVERHEAT. HE NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NO FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 29,000.
I BOUGHT MY PT CRUISER IN JULY 2008 A COUPLE MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT IT I STARTED TO EXPERIENCE SOME DASH PROBLEMS ALL THE DASH LIGHTS (OIL, ENGINE, AIR BAG, SEAT BELT, ABS,ETC) STARTED TURNING ON AND OFF AND DINGING I TOOK IT TO 2 DIFFERENT MECHANICS. THE FIRST ONE SAID IT WAS THE AIRBAGS CENSORS AND I HAD TO HAVE THEM REPLACED SO I DID THAT AND A COUPLE WEEKS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN SO I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY. COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT SO THE SENT ME TO A DIFFERENT ONE AND THEY CHECKED IT AND STILL COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. I COULDN'T AFFORD TO TAKE IT BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN SO I JUST DROVE IT LIKE IT WAS FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS AND THEN LAST YEAR IT WENT AWAY AND DIDN'T DO IT AGAIN UNTIL TODAY 5/8/2013 AND ITS BEEN DOING IT EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT I'M WORRIED BECAUSE I DRIVE MY GRANDKIDS TO AND FROM SCHOOL AND ITS MY ONLY CAR. *TR
WITHIN LESS THEN A WEEK MY BRAKES WENT FROM SOUNDING AND WORKING FINE TO MAKING A HIDEOUS GRINDING SOUND. AFTER TAKING MY CAR TO A BRAKE SPECIALTY SHOP THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH ALL MY BRAKES (WITH ONLY 17,000 MILES ON THEM) JUST THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE AND THAT I SHOULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALER BECAUSE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS RUN OFF THE ROAD BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE SPUN AROUND, STRUCK A GUARD RAIL, AND LANDED IN A DITCH. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED AND THE CONTACT WAS INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN AND WAS TOWED TO THE SHOP FOR REPAIR. THERE WERE NO OTHER PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE AND THE CONTACT WAS WEARING HIS SEAT BELT AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. THE AIR BAGS HAVE NOT BEEN SERVICED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,624.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. WHEN THE CONTACT REMOVED THE CENTER CONTROL, HE NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG MODULE WAS INSERTED BACKWARDS. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE AIR BAG MODULE WAS LABELED INCORRECTLY, BUT WAS INSERTED PROPERLY IN THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE MAY BE A POTENTIAL DEFECTIVE. THEY ALSO REFUSED TO WRITE A CERTIFIED LETTER STATING THAT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WOULD FUNCTION PROPERLY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. AS OF AUGUST 13, 2008, THE DEALER HAS POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 34,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, A LOUD POPPING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS OIL LEAKING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR BELT, AXLE DRIVE SEAL, CAMSHAFT SEAL, FRONT MAIN SEAL, AND THE SERPENTINE BELT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,844 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,000. *TR
THROTTLE SOLENOID STUCK IN OPEN POSITION CAUSING 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER TO IMPACT ANOTHER VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 50 MPH OR MORE, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD UNINTENTIONALLY SWITCH GEARS FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE WITHOUT DRIVER INTENT. THE VEHICLE SWITCHED GEARS WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A MAILBOX. THERE WAS MODERATE REAR END DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND THERE WERE NO REPAIRS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THERE CONTACT DID NOT REPORT ANY INJURIES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IF THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ACTIVATED, THE ENGINE WOULD IDLE LOW WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC, A STOP SIGN, OR RED LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALMOST STALL BEFORE RESUMING NORMAL OPERATION. WHEN STOPPED, WARM OR HOT AIR WOULD BLOW THROUGH THE VENTS. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAN MODULE REPAIR WOULD COST $700. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT TWO OF HIS FAMILY MEMBERS HAVE THE SAME MODEL VEHICLE AND ALSO EXPERIENCED SIMILAR FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 47,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IN ADDITION, THE CLOCKSPRING WAS BENT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY FOUR MONTHS LATER, SHE BEGAN TO HEAR A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE DURING COLD STARTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE LOWER SUPPORT, RADIATOR, AND TRANSMISSION WERE DAMAGED DUE TO SOME SORT OF CRASH. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 28,000.
I HAVE HAD THIS 2006 PT CRUISER FOR OVER A YEAR AND A HALF. WITHIN THAT YEAR AND A HALF, I HAVE NOW HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES, BRAKES. THE AIR CONDITIONER JUST WENT OUT. THIS CAR HAS BEEN HORRIBLE. I CAN'T BLOW THE HORN WITHOUT POUNDING IT. THE LAMP ASSEMBLIES HOLD MOISTURE, THE THING DRINKS GAS AND RIGHT NOW WITH GAS PRICES THIS IS A PROBLEM. YET, NOBODY WANTS ME TO TRADE IT BECAUSE IT ISN'T WORTH A PENNY BECAUSE NOBODY WANTS THEM. THEY NEED TO RECALL THE FACT THEY LIED ON THE STICKERS ABOUT GAS MILEAGE. I MAY GET 17 MILES PER GALLON. HORRIBLE CAR. I HOPE PEOPLE STOP BUYING THEM UNTIL THEY FIX THE PROBLEMS THEY ALREADY HAVE. *TR
ON MY 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER, THE BRAKES AND WHEELS LOCKED UP WHEN I HAD TO STOP TO AVOID HITTING A TRUCK WHO HAD SLOWED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY EITHER, EVEN THOUGH I HIT THE TRUCK AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH AND HAD MAJOR DAMAGE TO FRONT OF MY VEHICLE. *TR
MY 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER HAS HAD PROBLEMS SINCE THE TIME OF THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY RAN OUT. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DASH AND HEADLIGHTS DIMMING ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE CHILDREN AND DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING AT NIGHT BECAUSE OF THAT. WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING IS BEING USED IT IS AS IF THERE IS SHORT IN THE SYSTEM CAUSING THE AC TO GO FROM COLD TO HOT REPEATEDLY. THIS OCCURS WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD AND WHILE SITTING STILL AT INTERSECTIONS OR PARKING LOTS. I LIVE IN TEXAS AND IT IS HOT THIS SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM IN A VEHICLE WITH 36,000 MILES. THE RADIO WHICH IS MANUFACTURER INSTALLED ALSO TURNS ON AND OFF AND SOMETIMES WILL ONLY CLICK LOUDLY. THE ENGINE SEEMS TO SHIFT RATHER HARD AT TIMES EVEN THOUGH MY FLUID LEVELS ARE OKAY. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED A RED LIGHT AND THE AC STARTED BLOWING COLD AND THEN THE ENGINE STARTED TO SMOKE. VEHICLE HAD STALLED WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH. THIS DOES NOT SEEM SAFE AND THERE SEEMS TO BE MANY WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. CAR SAT FOR FIRST COUPLE OF MONTHS AND THEN WHEN WE BEGAN DRIVING IT, HAD DIFFERENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, THOUGHT TO BE LOW BATTERY, GOT BATTERY CHARGED. NEXT AND MOST CRUCIAL THING, WE WERE OUT AT DUSK IN A BLINDING RAIN STORM AND THE HEADLIGHTS, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, TURN SIGNALS AND A FEW OTHER THINGS WENT. I HAD 3 HEADS OUT WINDOWS TO GET TO SAFETY, TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY, COULDN'T EVEN SIGNAL TO GET OFF THE ROAD SAFELY - IT WAS A HAIR RAISING EVENT. CHECKED WITH CHRYSLER AND TOLD BASICALLY TO KISS OFF AS I HAD JUST IMPORTED THE CAR TO CANADA SO NO WARRANTY ALTHOUGH IT STILL HAS UNDER 28,000 MILES ON IT AND OF COURSE THERE IS NO RECALL REGARDING THE CONTROL MODULE WHICH IS WHAT WENT OUT. I FEEL SO STRONGLY ABOUT THIS - I COULD HAVE HAD A HEAD ON COLLISION WHEN I LOST MY LIGHTS AND WIPERS AND COULD HAVE BEEN STRUCK IN THE REAR BY SOMEONE WHO DIDN'T KNOW I WAS TURNING OFF THE ROAD. IT SOUNDS AS THOUGH MANY MANY PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR THINGS WITH THIS VEHICLE SO I FEEL THAT IT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. I TOOK OUR 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER BACK TO THE DEALER FOR SCHEDULED SERVICE AND INSPECTION ON FEB 21, 2008. THE SERVICE ADVISER BRUCE WARREN, CAME TO THE WAITING ROOM TO INFORM ME THAT THE FRONT BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY WERE DOWN TO 5%. I TOLD HIM TO REPLACE THEM, AND SAID I DID NOT HEAR ANY NOSE FROM THE WARNING SCRAPERS. HE SAID THEY DO NOT HAVE THEM, AND THE BRAKES DID NOT GO METAL TO METAL. I THOUGHT THEY MUST BE USING CHEAPER PADS TO GO OUT IN 19,000 MILES. BRUCE CAME BACK TO INFORM ME THAT THE ROTORS WERE BELOW MIN. THICKNESS TO RESURFACE. I TOLD HIM TO REPLACE THEM BECAUSE I NEEDED THE CAR, AND I WOULD TALK TO THE SERVICE MANAGER THE NEXT DAY. I CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER KIRK IRVINE AND ASKED WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH MY BRAKES, AND AM I GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE PADS AND ROTORS EVERY 19000 MILES. I HAD BOUGHT A USED 2006 PT CRUISER. I HAD THE CAR FOR 6 MONTHS WHEN THE FRONT CALIPER BROKE, WHICH CAUSED MY BRAKES TO GO OUT. I HAD AN ACCIDENT AS A RESULT OF THIS. A FEW WEEKS AFTER THE ACCIDENT I HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR OVERHEATING, RUNNING OUT OF OIL AND NOT HAVING HEAT. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THIS FIXED, THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE MY CAR HAD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT THAT THE WARRANTY WOULDN'T COVER MY REPAIRS AND IT WOULD COST OVER 1000.00 TO FIX. THE PROBLEMS WERE: I HAD A HOLE IN MY RADIATOR, I WAS MISSING THE CONNECTORS TO HOLD THE RADIATOR IN PLACE, I HAD NO HEAT, I NEEDED NEW SPARK PLUGS, AND THE OIL LIGHT WAS COMING ON. THEY HAD TOLD ME THAT I HAD NO OIL OR COOLANT IN MY CAR AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO GET THE CAR IN RUNNING CONDITION TO FIND OUT WHERE THE OIL LEAK WAS. I COULDN'T AFFORD TO FIX MY CAR, SO I TOOK IT TO A FAMILY FRIENDS AUTO SHOP. I HAD THE RADIATOR REPAIRED, THE CONNECTORS AND HAD COOLANT PUT IN. I THEN PICKED IT BACK UP TO TAKE IT BACK TO CHRYSLER TO HAVE THE OIL LEAK FIXED. AFTER THEY LOOKED AT IT, THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE I DIDN'T HAVE MY CAR FIXED WITH THEM, THEY WOULDN'T EVEN LOOK TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO TIGHTENED THE GAS CAP. IN SEPTEMBER 2007, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN AND AS A RESULT, THE CLOCK SPRING WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THERE WAS AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF ELECTRICAL FAILURES THAT LED TO THE VEHICLE STALLING WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH. THERE WAS NO POWER IN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE STALLING OCCURRED TWICE BEFORE THE MOST RECENT FAILURE, ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD FLASHED ON AND OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE FOR FAILURE AND THEREFORE COULD NOT REPAIR IT. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT INSPECTED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 34,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 365.
VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE BACKING PLATES ON FRONT SPINDLES. BALL JOINTS ARE ONLY .375" FROM THE FRONT BRAKE DISCS. IF THE BALL JOINT BOOT DISCHARGES EXCESS GREASE UN-NOTICED ONTO THE DISC, THE INNER BRAKE PAD BECOMES USELESS. THE ONLY WORKABLE REPAIR IS TO REPLACE THE DISC PADS. *TR UPDATED 12/04/07
THE DASHBOARD OF MY 2006 PT CRUISER IS FACTORY PAINTED METALLIC SILVER, AND I WAS CONSTANTLY HOLDING UP MY HAND AND COVERING THE DASH WITH CLOTH ETC...TO PREVENT IT FROM BLINDING ME WHILE DRIVING ON SUNNY DAYS. ON A TUESDAY EVENING IN AUGUST 2007 WHILE ENTERING ONTO A HIGHWAY THE EVENING SUN GLARED OFF THE RIGHT PANEL OF THE DASH SO BRIGHTLY IT BLINDED ME AND CAUSED ME TO BEGIN TO HAVE AN IMMEDIATE SEIZURE TYPE RESPONCE. MY EYES WERE FLASHING WITH LIGHTS, THEN MY RIGHT ARM WAS TINGLING AND WENT NUMB, THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY FACE WENT NUMB, MY RIGHT TEMPLE BEGAN TO THROB HORRIBLY, AND THIS LASTED FOR ONE HOUR. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO SO I HAD TO HAND SAND MY ENTIRE DASHBOARD WITH SANDPAPER AND EMORY BOARDS! IT LOOKS REDICULOUS AND IT IS INSANE THAT I MUST DRIVE MY NEW CAR THIS WAY. THE LASTING CONSEQUENCE HAS BEEN A RETINAL BURN THAT STAYS IN THE CENTER OF MY VISION AT ALL TIMES NOW. I AM A PROFESSIONAL ARTIST AND WRITER, SO NOW AND PERHAPS THE REST OF MY LIFE---I MUST LOOK THROUGH THIS WHITE SWIRL IN THE CENTER OF MY EYE. THE SAME SEIZURE HAPPENED A MONTH AGO WHILE I WAS WORKING IN MY COMPUTER AS I MUST DO DAILY FOR MY JOB. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE PERMENANT AND I WANT CHYSLER TO PAY. I CAN HARDLY OPEN MY EYES OUTSIDE NOW, AND I LIVE IN A CONSTANT FEAR OF THESE SEIZURES HITTING ME ANY WHERE AND ANY TIME NOW. *TR
