AT APPROXIMATELY 105,000 MILES I BEGAN NOTICING A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE BOTH INSIDE & OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE- RUNNING OR NOT. AT ABOUT THE SAME TIME I NOTICED A BIG DROP IN FUEL EFFICIENCY. WE ARE NOW GETTING AN AVERAGE OF 10 MPG. THE NORM IS AN AVERAGE OF 19 MPG. THE VEHICLE STARTS FINE & THERE ARE NO CHECK LIGHTS ON. I BELIEVE THE ACCELERATION IS ALSO SLOWER NOW. OUR FAMILY IS THE ORIGINAL OWNER & THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. COMMON SENSE TELLS US THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THERE SEEM TO BE MANY OTHERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE & IT'S DISAPPOINTING TO FIND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT. WE ARE A ONE CAR FAMILY & WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE.
AFTER REFUELING THE VAN STALLS AT LEAST ONCE BUT MAY STALL UP TO THREE TIMES. THE ENGINE SURGES IN RPM BEFORE STALLING. RESTART AFTER A STALL CAN SOMETIMES BE DIFFICULT. I HAVE LET THE VAN IDLE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AFTER REFUELING BUT IT DOES NOT STALL WHILE STATIONARY. IT USUALLY OCCURS WITHIN A MINUTE OF OPERATION ON THE STREET AND GENERALLY WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE GAS STATION LOT ONTO THE ROADWAY. ONCE THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR A FEW MILES THERE ARE NO OTHER OCCURRENCES OF STALLING UNTIL IT IS REFUELED AGAIN. THE ISSUE USED TO BE INFREQUENT A FEW YEARS AGO BUT IS NO OCCURRING AFTER EVERY REFUELING.
HELLO, I CURRENTLY HAVE A MECHANICAL ISSUE WITH MY 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. IF I FILL THE GAS TANK UP COMPLETELY, THE ENGINE WILL STALL. THIS POSES A SAFETY RISK, AS A SUDDEN STOP ON THE HIGHWAY OR CITY ROADS CAN TURN ME INTO AN OBSTACLE AND ACCIDENT RISK. CHRYSLER REFUSES TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THERE IS A CHRYSLER SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE EXACT ISSUE THAT I'M HAVING. MY VEHICLE IS AN MDH 0901XX, AND IT IS BUILT AFTER 09/01/2003. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, AND THE TECHNICIAN DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS MEANT. THE MDH FORMAT IS MMDDHH WHERE MM IS THE MONTH, DD IS THE DAY, AND HH IS THE HOUR. EXAMPLE: MDH 100819 DECODES AS: 10 = TENTH MONTH (OCTOBER) 08 = EIGHTH DAY 19 = NINETEENTH HOUR (7 PM) MY VEHICLE'S MDH IS 0901XX. IT WAS BUILT IN 09/2004. AND OF COURSE, IT'S HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT THIS NHTSA-ISSUED SERVICE BULLETIN ADDRESSES. BUT THE DEALER TECHNICIAN STILL REFUSED TO SERVICE MY VEHICLE. *MY VEHICLE IS ELIGIBLE TO BE REPAIRED UNDER THIS WARRANTY EXTENSION (15-YEAR/UNLIMITED MILES, ACCORDING TO THE DOCUMENT ABOVE). VEHICLE STALLS OUT WITHIN 30 SECONDS OF FILLING THE GAS TANK. I DON'T DOUBLE CLICK THE NOZZLE. THE PART CAUSING THE PROBLEM IS THE "ROLLOVER VALVE". THIS IS PERMANENTLY ATTACHED TO THE GAS TANK. IT IS ALLOWING RAW GAS TO ENTER THE CHARCOAL CANISTER, NOT JUST FUMES. THE TANK MUST BE REPLACED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER. (REFERENCE NUMBER: 32952411 EMAIL CASE NUMBER: 3568281) THEY SAY THERE IS NO RECALL OR EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THAT VEHICLE.
THERE IS GASOLINE LEAKING FROM UNDER THE CAR IN THE AREA OF THE GAS TANK/LINES. THERE IS ALSO A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL INSIDE VEHICLE. I NOTICE THE SMELL MORE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND OBVIOUSLY THE LEAK ON THE GROUND WHEN PARKED. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO TAKE A PICTURE OF EXACTLY, IF YOU WANT I CAN SEND YOU A PICTURE OF A STAIN ON THE GROUND.
AFTER GETTING FUEL THE VEHICLE ENTERED STREET AND WENT A COUPLE HUNDRED FEET THEN IT STALLED OUT, THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS JUST ABOUT EVERY TIME FUEL IS PUT INTO THE VEHICLE. I'VE HAD SEVERAL NEAR COLLISIONS WITH BEING REAR ENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A COUNTY STREET.
FUEL TANK MULTIFUNCTION CONTROL VALVE IS NOT OPERATING CORRECTLY, SO VEHICLE STALLS AFTER REFUELING. THE VEHICLE STALLS AFTER REFUELING BOTH WHILE STATIONARY OR IN MOTION, ON CITY STREETS AND AT GAS STATIONS. I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER CHRYSLER AND CHRYSLER REFUSED TO INCLUDE MY VEHICLE WITH THE EXISTING RECALL. I HAVE A SECOND TOWN AND COUNTRY THAT IS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, AND I HAVE ATTACHED THAT RECALL LETTER.

VEHICLE SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE AFTER EACH USE. FUEL IS VISIBLY LEAKING AT THE FUEL LINE CONNECTION TO THE FUEL TANK. THE VIN SEARCH COMES UP WITHOUT RESULTS BUT THE MAKE/MODEL SEARCH LISTS A FUEL LINE RECALL. WHAT GIVES?
I BEGAN HAVING THE EXACT SAME COMPLAINT AS THE 2004-5 DODGE VANS HAVE WITH REGARD TO STALLING ABOUT 1 MINUTE AFTER A FILL UP. IT HAS HAPPENED AT EVERY FILL UP SINCE DECEMBER 2015, AND SPORADICALLY BEFORE, BUT I DID NOT RECOGNIZE THE SOURCE OF THE STALLING. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY TOLD ME MY VAN WAS MADE IN THE WINDSOR (AFFECTED PLANT) ON 6-10-2005 BUT THAT THE RECALL/REPAIR SHUT OFF IN APRIL, I BELIEVE. IT SEEMS TOO BIG A COINCIDENCE TO ME. THIS HAS BEEN DANGEROUS SINCE ON SOME TRIPS, I AM ON THE INTERSTATE GETTING GAS AND GET BACK ON WHEN THE STALL OCCURS. IS THERE ANY RECOURSE FOR ME? IT HAS BEEN OCCURING EVER SINCE DECEMBER, THAT IS WHEN IT STARTED, AT LEAST THAT IS WHEN IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING WITHOUT LETUP.
STALLING AFTER REFUELING BEGAN ON OUR VEHICLE ABOUT A MONTH AGO. TODAY, WITH MY SON IN THE VAN, IT STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY 610 GARRISIONVILLE, STAFFORD VA.. THE DANGER WAS THAT I WAS ON A TURN AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO TURN IT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, AND MY HOPE IS THAT CHRYSLER MAKES GOOD ON A DEFECTIVE PART. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND SEVERAL ATTEMPTS HAD TO BE MADE BEFORE THE VEHICLE COULD RESTART. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT AN ODOR OF FUEL EMITTED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS, WHO NOTICED THAT AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF FUEL WAS LEAKING ONTO THE GROUND, AS A RESULT OF A RUPTURED FUEL LINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SERVICED BECAUSE THE DEALER INFORMED THAT THE PART NEEDED HAD NOT BEEN AVAILABLE FOR OVER A YEAR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. VAN HAS STARTED STALLING OUT AFTER FILLING THE TANK. IT USUALLY STALLS SHORTLY AFTER LEAVING THAT STATION WHILE SPEEDING UP AFTER A TURN. SO FAR IT HASN'T COMPLETELY DIED BUT I HAVE TO REV THE ENGINE TO KEEP IT RUNNING. I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINS ON-LINE THAT SAY THE REPAIR IS TO COMPLETELY REPLACE THE FUEL TANK AND CANISTER THE SAME AS THE REPAIR FOR THE 300, THE MAGNUM AND THE CHARGER.
VAN STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION RIGHT AFTER FILLING WITH FUEL. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME AFTER THE VAN IS REFUELED.
EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY FUEL TANK, 1 MINUTE LATER, WHEN I PRESS ON THE ACCELERATOR, THE VAN STALLS. I HAVE TO START IT AGAIN, TAKES A WHILE BUT IT STARTS. THE VAN RUNS FINE AFTERWARDS. THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME I FILL IT UP WITH FUEL.
VAN BEGAN RUNNING RAGGED AFTER FILLING UP AT GAS STATION. IT THEN STALLED ON A 4-LANE HIGHWAY. WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED. LOOKED UP SYMPTOMS ON-LINE AND SAW NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF SAME VAN AND THAT ISSUE WAS RELATED TO THE GAS TANK, FUEL ENTERING VAPOR CANISTER. *TR
AFTER FILLING GAS TANK, VEHICLE STALLED AS I WAS TURNING BACK INTO TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE HAS THREATENED TO STALL SEVERAL TIMES AFTER FILL-UPS OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE AS DESCRIBED IN INVESTIGATION PS13-016 FOR SIMILAR MODELS FROM CHRYSLER. THAT INVESTIGATION HAS LED TO A VERY NARROWLY DRAWN WARRANTY EXTENSION.
