ON 9/16/09, WITH 19849 MILES,I TOOK MY 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY TO THE DEALER COMPLAINING ABOUT MY VAN SQUEAKING WHILE DRIVING AND THAT THE SQUEAKING WOULD STOP WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THEY DID NOTHING. I TOOK IT BACK IN ON 10/9/09 WITH THE SAME ISSUE, ONLY THIS TIME THERE WAS A VERY STRONG ODOR COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE. AGAIN, I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE WEARING EVENLY AND THE CALIPERS ARE WORKING PROPERLY. ON 1/14/10 I WAS DRIVING AND THE NOISE WAS SO LOUD, I DROVE IT RIGHT TO THE DEALER WHO HAD A MECHANIC RIDE WITH ME. HE CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS THE BRAKES AND THOUGHT IT WAS THE CALIPERS LOCKING UP. ONCE HE LOOKED AT THE BRAKES HE TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED NEW PADS AND ROTORS AT 24000 MILES!! I ASKED ABOUT THE CALIPERS AND THEY DID SAY THEY WOULD GREASE THOSE FOR ME AT NO CHARGE TO SEE IF IT WOULD HELP, BUT THEY AGAIN STATED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM I WOULD NEED NEW PADS AND ROTORS. I HAVE NEVER OWNED A VEHICLE THAT NEEDED NEW REAR PADS AND ROTORS ON A VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 50,000 MILES! I CALLED CHRYSLER AND PUT IN A COMPLAINT AND WAS JUST TOLD TODAY THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO, THE BRAKES ARE A WEAR AND TEAR ITEM AND IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I AM WAITING FOR A CALL BACK FROM A SUPERVISOR IN THE NEXT DAY TO TAKE MY COMPLAINT HIGHER. I AM VERY WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND AM AFRAID THE BRAKES WILL EVENTUALLY GO OUT. *TR
I HAVE A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTY. I PURCHASED THIS IN DEC 2008. AT 15K IN FEB 2009 I HAD TO HAVE THE FRONT BRAKE PADS REPLACED. I WAS INFORMED THEN THAT MY REAR BRAKES HAD APPROX 30% WEAR LEFT. IT IS NOW OCT 2009 AND I HAVE TO REPLACE MY REAR BRAKE PADS I HAVE 26K MILES ON MY VEHICLE. MY LAST VEHICLE WAS ALSO A TOWN AND COUNTRY AND I HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT BAKES AT 20K. PREVIOUSLY I OWNED A OLDSMOBILE SILHOUETTE I TURNED THIS VEHICLE IN WITH 60K AND NEVER HAD TO REPLACE MY BRAKES. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS BRAKE PROBLEM. I HAVE SEEN COUNTLESS BLOGS CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. I TURN MY CAR IN MARCH 2010, I WILL NOT BE REPLACING THIS WITH A CHRYSLER VEHICLE. *TR
WE HAVE A 2008 TOWN AND COUNTRY. ON THE FIRST COOL RAINY DAY OF THE FALL, THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED COMPLETELY. THE VEHICLE DROVE FINE, BUT WITHOUT LIGHTS, WIPERS, HEAT, RADIO, ETC. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY COULD ONLY FIX WHILE SYSTEMS ARE DOWN. THIS SEEMS VERY DANGEROUS AND I FEEL UNSAFE IN THE VEHICLE. *TR
PROBLEM : HEARD SQUEALING NOISE AT 13,000 MILES. UNDIAGNOSED AT THE DEALER. RAISED ISSUE AGAIN AT DEALER AT 16,500KM MILES. DIAGNOSIS WAS COMPLETELY WORN (AND INADEQUATE) REAR BRAKES. DEALER TECH AGREED THIS IS A FLAW AND SAFETY ISSUE, AND QUITE COMMON AMONG NEWLY DESIGNED 2008 TOWN & COUNTRY AND SHOULD BE A RECALL EVENT. REMEDY : PARTS REPLACED AT OWNERS EXPENSE. COMPLAINT : INADEQUATE BRAKES FOR A VEHICLE THIS SIZE AND WEIGHT, PREMATURE FAILURE AT 11-15K MILES WITHOUT WARNING IS UNACCEPTABLE AND DANGEROUS. *TR
2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP BECAUSE BRAKE LIGHT WAS COMING ON & BRAKES NOT WORKING PROPERLY. DEALER SAID FRONT BRAKES WERE DOWN TO METAL ON METAL. $495 TO REPLACE PADS AND ROTORS. ONLY 23,500 MILES ON THE GARAGE KEPT VEHICLE. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. ROTORS ARE BADLY GROOVED WITH SHREDDED METAL HANGING OFF. DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAYS THE BRAKES ARE ONLY LASTING 20-25,000 MILES ON THE MINIVANS. AT A MINIMUM, THE ROTORS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT PADS AND ROTORS SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN 23,500 MILES. *TR
WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES AND ROTORS 3 TIMES IN OUR 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN. THE FIRST AT ABOUT 15,000 MILES AT A COST OF 400.00, THE SECOND AT A COST OF 300.00 AT 24,000, AND NOW AT 34500 MILES ANOTHER SET OF BRAKES. THE BRAKES ARE DEFECTIVE AND NEED TO BE RECALLED AND REPLACEMENT VEHICLES GIVEN. DEALERSHIP ADMITS PROBLEM, BUT NO RECOURSE AGAINST CHRYSLER. *TR
2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY FRONT BRAKES HAVE WORN OUT AT 21,00 MILES. WE HAVE PURCHASED OR LEASED 13 NEW CARS IN THE PAST 15 YEARS. BRAKES HAVE NEVER WORN OUT THIS QUICKLY BEFORE. CHRYSLER WILL NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
PURCHASED A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY TOURING BRAND NEW IN MAY 2008. WITHIN THE FIRST 12,000 MILES WE'VE HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THIS VAN. AS FAR AS THE SAFETY PROBLEMS SPECIFICALLY, THE BRAKE SYSTEM HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE. THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE SNAPPED IN TWO AND BECAME DANGEROUS WHEN I COULDN'T PARK ON A HILL WITHOUT IT. THIS WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP. THE NEXT SAFETY RELATED ISSUE WAS THAT THE BRAKES ON THE VAN STARTED TO SQUEAL AND WERE QUICKLY METAL ON METAL. I BROUGHT THE VAN INTO OUR LOCAL TIRE PLACE TO HAVE A REGULAR BRAKE JOB DONE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ROTORS AND PADS WERE COMPLETELY SHOT AND COST OVER $300 TO HAVE REPLACED. THE MANAGER SAID I WAS ONE OF 12 OTHER CUSTOMERS IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS WITH 2008 DODGE/CHRYSLER MINIVANS HAVING THIS PROBLEM. HE SAID THAT HE SPOKE WITH SOMEONE FROM CHRYSLER TO SEE ABOUT HAVING THIS REPAIR COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND SAID THAT THE PERSON AT CHRYSLER THAT HE SPOKE WITH CASUALLY MENTIONED THAT "OF COURSE THIS HAPPENED, THEY USED CHEAP PARTS" ON THESE VANS. I STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL ROTORS AND PADS IF ANYONE NEEDS THEM FOR INVESTIGATION. AN ENTIRE CHUNK OF METAL HAD CHIPPED OFF OF ONE ROTOR!! THE TECH. AT THE REPAIR SHOP SAID THEY WERE THE CHEAPEST MADE THINGS THEY'VE SEEN ON A NEW VEHICLE. NO VEHICLE DRIVEN UNDER NORMAL, CARPOOLING CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD EVER HAVE ROTORS AND PADS WEAR OUT AT 12,000 MILES. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS LOOKED INTO AS TO WHY THIS IS HAPPENING WITH THIS YEAR VAN THROUGH THIS MAKE. THANKS. *TR
REAR BRAKE FAILURE AT LOW MILES, EXCESSIVE WEARING, NOISE, ETC. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. SHE EXPERIENCED PREMATURE WEAR ON THE BRAKE PADS. THE BRAKES ARE BEING REPLACED AT HER EXPENSE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 20,000.
FAULTY BRAKE PADS ON 2008 CHYRSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. *TR
EXCESSIVE BRAKE WEAR AND E-BRAKE CALIPER STICKING. I HAVE A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY WITH 28,000 MILES ON IT. SO FAR I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS TWICE AND HAVE THE ROTORS TURNED ONCE. THE ABS ALSO PULSES AT TIMES WHEN I AM BRAKING AT NORMAL LEVELS AND IT SHOULD NOT BE KICKING IN. I AM ALSO GETTING SUBSTANTIALLY LOWER FUEL MILEAGE THAN ADVERTISED FOR BOTH HIGHWAY AND CITY DRIVING AND SUSPECT THAT THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS KEEPING SOME BRAKING PRESSURE ON AT ALL TIMES. I HAVE ALSO HAD EXTREMELY HOT BRAKES AT TIMES SO MUCH SO THAT THEY HAVE NEARLY CAUGHT FIRE. FORTUNATELY I HAVE NOT HAD ANY FIRES TO DATE FROM THE BRAKES. *TR
UNSAT BRAKES & ROTORS ON 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY MINIVAN. AT APPROXIMATELY 6,9,12 & 15K MILES, WHILE GETTING THE MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDED OIL CHANGES, WE STATED THE VAN HAD A HIGH PITCHED SQUEAL. ON EACH OCCURRENCE THE DEALER SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE BRAKES, BUT WE SHOULD BRING IT BACK IF IT IS STILL A PROBLEM. AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED @ 18K, NOW... WE DO HAVE A PROBLEM AND IT WILL COST $341.87 FOR NEW ROTORS AND PADS FOR THE FRONT. THE DEALER STATED THE ROTORS WERE MADE TO BE THROWN OUT AT 15K MILES AND MADE SO THEY COULD NOT BE TURNED IN AN EFFORT TO SAVE ON VEHICLE WEIGHT. WE WERE 'LUCKY' TO GET THAT MUCH USE OUT OF THEM. THE DEALER ALSO SAID THE REAR BREAKS WERE GOOD. WE BROUGHT IT IN 4 MORE TIMES FOR SQUEALING & WERE TOLD THE BREAKS WERE FINE EACH TIME. HOWEVER, I JUST SPENT ANOTHER $97.38 ON TOTALLY RUINED REAR BRAKES @ 23,445 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS LAST INTO THE SHOP @ 22,015 & 22,990 MILES WITH NO PROBLEMS FOUND. MY ORIGINAL BILL WAS ANOTHER $400.00, BUT AFTER DISPUTING THE BILL WE GOT IT LOWERED DOWN TO ONLY THE COST OF THE PADS & DID NOT PAY FOR THE LABOR OR THE ROTORS. AFTER LESS THAN 24K MILES, THE FRONT & REAR BRAKES PADS ALONG WITH ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. I PREVIOUSLY OWNED TWO HIGH TOP CONVERSION VANS THAT WEIGHED ABOUT TWICE WHAT A TOWN AND COUNTRY WEIGHS & THE WORST I EVER GOT FROM BRAKES AND ROTORS IS 35K MILES. EVEN THEN, IT WAS ONLY THE FRONT BRAKES AND THE REAR LASTED OVER 50K. PLEASE RESEARCH THIS @ WWW.EDMUNDS.COM, WWW.CARS.COM, OR MOTOR TREND MAGAZINE & YOU WILL FIND MANY CUSTOMERS WITH THE EXACT SAME STORY. WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER, POWER SLIDING SIDE DOOR, EXTREME FRONT TIRE WEAR & AN INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT MAKES ALL ACCESSORIES INOPERABLE UNTIL YOU SHUT OFF THE VAN & RESTART. I KNOW IT IS THE FIRST YEAR AFTER A TOTAL REDESIGN & THE COMPANY FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY PROTECTION, BUT A VEHICLE THAT COSTS $38K SHOULD HAVE QUALITY MATERIALS USED IN ITS CONSTRUCTION. PLEASE INVESTIGATE. THANKS. *TR
FAULTY TRANSMISSION. CONSTANTLY HARD SHIFTS EVERYWHERE. FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE EVERY TIME YOU SHIFT FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE ,OR DRIVE TO PARK, OR PARK TO REVERSE. THIS IS THE SECOND TRANSMISSION ON THIS VEHICLE. THERE ARE ONLY 65000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE OVERALL. 45000 ON THIS PARTICULAR TRANSMISSION. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND ALL THEY TELL ME IS THAT IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY. IT'S OBVIOUSLY THEIR INADEQUATE PARTS AND IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION FAILS ON THE FREEWAY AND SOMEONE GETS INJURED. HOW MANY ACCIDENTS NEED TO HAPPEN BEFORE CHRYSLER STEPS UP AND PUTS A GOOD TRANSMISSION ON THEIR VEHICLES? *TR
GENERAL ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION THAT MAKES VEHICLE UNSAFE. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, THE HORN STARTED HONKING UNCONTROLLABLY AND WITHOUT PROVOCATION. EVEN WORSE, THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND WASHERS ALSO ACTIVATED MAKING FORWARD VISIBILITY DIFFICULT ESPECIALLY GIVEN WE WERE HEADING EAST EARLY IN THE MORNING. AND, THE DOOR LOCKS ALSO CYCLED UP AND DOWN. THE DEALER RAN SOME DIAGNOSTICS AND ALSO COMMUNICATED THE PROBLEM TO THE FACTORY. THE DEALER HAD SAID THAT THE FACTORY THOUGHT THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM ORIGINATED FROM THE TIPM BUT THEY WERE NOT SURE AND SAID THE COST WOULD BE $500. BECAUSE OF THE HIGH COST OF THE REPAIR AND THE UNSURETY THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD BE FIXED, I DID NOT HAVE THEM REPLACE THE TIPM. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN SOON AFTER AND SO I PULLED THE TWO HORN FUSES. OF COURSE, THAT STOPPED THE HORN PROBLEM, BUT IT ALSO SEEMED TO STOP THE WASHER/WIPER AND DOOR LOCK PROBLEM. IN JUNE OF THIS YEAR, THERE WAS A RECALL ABOUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THE INVOLVED WATER GETTING INTO SOME PARTS OF THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. IT WAS THOUGHT THAT THIS MIGHT BE THE INDIRECT CAUSE OF MY PROBLEM AFTER ALL AND SO I REINSTALLED THE HORN FUSES. NOT TOO LONG AFTER, THE ORIGINAL HORN-BLARING, WASHER/WIPER ACTIVITY AND DOOR LOCKING AND UNLOCKING RETURNED. THIS TIME, AFTER PULLING THE HORN FUSES, I WENT TO THE DEALER TO SEE ABOUT GETTING THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM FIXED. THEY SAID THAT THE ELECTRICAL PART WAS BACKORDERED (BY SOME 450 PARTS!) AND THAT THEY WOULD CALL ME. THAT WAS A MONTH AGO AND STILL NO CALL. SO, EVEN AFTER DECIDING TO FIX THE PROBLEM, CHRYSLER IS NOT SUPPLYING THE PARTS TO DO SO! IT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITH NO HORN OR WIPERS! DOES CHRYSLER HAVE SOME 450 OF THESE DANGEROUS PROBLEMS REPORTED AND NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT? WITH THE INHERENT DANGEROUS NATURE OF THE PROBLEMS, I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. SO THIS IS WHY I AM WRITING YOU. *JS
2008 CHRYSLER T & C BRAKES FAILING & NEED TO BE REPLACED @ 20000 MILES & 12 MO. OF OWNERSHIP. HAD REPLACED BY DEALER & NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN AFTER JUST 13 MOS. & 20000 MILES MORE. CHRYSLER ADMITS TO A FLAW- THE BRAKES TOO SMALL FOR SIZE & WEIGHT OF VEHICLE. BRAKES NEED TO BE RECALLED & CHRYSLER NEEDS TO FIX FLAW. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE CONTACT WOULD APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND HEARD A GRINDING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FRONT ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AND WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FRONT AND BACK ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE GRINDING NOISE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. A TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE FRONT AND BACK ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THEY HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS AND HAVE HAD THESE REPAIRS MADE THREE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
THIS COMPLAINT INVOLVES A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY MINI VAN. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER TO INSPECT BRAKE SYSTEM. MILEAGE WAS 27, 904. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT DISC PADS AND ROTORS NEEDED REPLACEMENT AND THE REAR BRAKES WERE IN GOOD SHAPE. THIS CONCERNED ME SINCE I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE THIS EARLY ON A NEW VEHICLE. MY PREVIOUS VEHICLE WAS A 2001 TOWN AND COUNTRY, WHICH WAS TRADED FOR THE 2008. THE 2001 HAD OVER 95,000 MILES AND I WAS TOLD AFTER INSPECTION OF THE BRAKES THAT THERE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25% OF THE PADS LEFT. I ALSO OWN A 1995 DODGE RAM PICKUP AND HAD THE PADS REPLACED AT 75,000 MILES AND STILL HAD PADS LEFT. I HAD THE PADS REPLACED ON THE 2008. LESS THAN 1,000 MILES LATER I HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR PADS AND ROTORS AFTER BEING TOLD THEY WERE OK. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THIS SCENERIO. THIS CONDITION COULD HAVE LEAD TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT SINCE THE DEALERSHIP GAVE ME SENSE OF ASSURANCE THAT THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS IN GOOD CONDITION AND I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GOTTEN MORE MILEAGE ON THE REAR PADS THAN A 1,000 MILES. I FEEL THAT THERE MAY BE A DESIGN FLAW IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM SINCE MY DRIVING HABITS HAVE NOT CHANGED IN THE LAST 50 YEARS. *TR
WE OWN A 2008 TOWN AND COUNTRY. IN SEP OF 09 THE FRONT BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED (21381 MILES). THEN IN JULY 2010 THE FRONT AND BACK BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED (31088 MILES) NOW NOV 2012 THEY SAY THEY NEED REPLACED AGAIN!! (65409 MILES) THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. THE CAR IS 4 YEARS OLD AND ALREADY WE HAVE HAD THE BRAKES 3 TIMES ON THE FRONT AND TWO ON THE BACK. TALK ABOUT A SAFETY ISSUE. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF IT TOO...THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 36000 MILES. ALTHOUGH THAT DOES NO GOOD CONSIDERING THE PROBLEM IS JUST GOING TO KEEP HAPPENING. THE CARS NEED RETROFITTED WITH A NEW BRAKING SYSTEM NOT JUST REPLACED WITH THE SAME THING. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND GOTTEN NOWHERE WITH GETTING HELP, THE SAME WHEN CONTACTING CHRYSLER. FOR THE FAMILY VEHICLE THEY PROMOTED THIS CAR AS.....THEY TOTALLY FAILED. I AM AFRAID TO PUT MY FAMILY IN IT. THIS CAR HAS HAD MORE RECALLS, TSB AND EXTENDED WARRANTIES....WHEN IS IT GOING TO STOP. *TR

THE BRAKES AND ROTORS SHOULD NOT HAVE WORN OUT AS SOON AS THEY HAVE. THE CONTACT PAID $346 TO REPAIR THE BRAKES AND ROTORS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BRAKE FAILURE WAS PREMATURE. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL OR WARRANTY RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
I PURCHASED A NEW 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY MINIVAN. AFTER ONLY 25,000 MILES THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS HAVE FAILED, COSTING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN REPAIR WORK. *TR

I DRIVE TO AND FROM WORK (HIGHWAY) AND TO SPORTING EVENTS FOR THE KIDS ON WEEKENDS- NO EXCESSIVE DRIVING OR STARTING AND STOPPING. *TR
VEHICLE STALLED ON SLOW RIGHT HAND TURNS. HAPPENED 5 OR 6 TIMES. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM APPEARED TO BE DEAD, NO DASHBOARD LIGHTS AND THE INDICATORS STOPPED BLINKING. VEHICLE RESTARTED EVERY TIME AFTER STOPPING AND PUTTING THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK POSITION. CHRYSLER 5 STAR DEALER IN ELLINGTON CT COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAD THE IGNITION KEY MODULE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY PRIOR TO THIS BECAUSE IT DIED. THE DEALER DIDN'T THINK THE NEW MODULE COULD BE THE PROBLEM.
EXCESSIVE FRONT BRAKE WEAR. THE FRONT BRAKES ARE WORN OUT, BOTH THE PADS AND ROTORS HAVE FAILED AT 17,000 MILES. IN CONTACTING CHRYSLER, I AM TOLD THAT THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE BUT THAT THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM UNTIL A RECALL IS MANDATED. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR 16 MONTHS AND DO WHAT I CALL NORMAL DRIVING AROUND TOWN AND HIGHWAY. I HAVE HAULED A TRAILER ONCE, FOR 80 MILES, OTHER THAN NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY. THE BRAKES ARE IN MY OPINION NOT PROPERLY SIZED FOR THE CAR AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE AS MOST PEOPLE WOULD NOT EXPECT BRAKE FAILURE AFTER SUCH A SHORT TIME PERIOD. *TR

CAR STALLS AT HIGHWAY SPEED COMBINED WITH ELECTRICAL FREAK OUT. HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES SINCE AUGUST OF 09 WITH TWO ADDITIONAL PARTIAL INCIDENTS FOR A TOTAL OF SIX TOWS TO THE DEALER. CAR WILL COMPLETELY LOSE POWER AND CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. AT THE SAME TIME, EVERYTHING IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM GOES HAYWIRE. HORN BLASTS, WIPERS FLY, WASHER FLUID SPRAYS, BELLS RING. ONE ADDITIONAL FULL ELECTRICAL FREAK OUT WHILE IN THE GARAGE. ADDITIONAL INSTANCE OF CAR REFUSING TO COME OUT OF PARK OR START ONE DAY HOME FROM THE SHOP. MY 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY, WHICH I USED TO LOVE, JUST STOPPED WORKING LAST NIGHT. DROVE IT AROUND ALL DAY AND IT WAS FINE. WENT IN TO WORK, AND WHEN I CAME OUT THAT NIGHT TO GO HOME, THE LIGHTS WERE ALL WORKING, AND THE POWER DOORS AND WINDOWS WORKED. HOWEVER, THE RADIO STOPPED WORKING, THE POWER WINDOWS NO LONGER WORK, AND THE CAR WILL NOT START. IT WILL NOT TRY TO TURN OVER. YOU CAN TURN THE KEY AND NOTHING HAPPENS. THE STARTER DOES NOT CLICK, THE MOTOR DOESN'T DO ANYTHING AT ALL. WE REPLACED THE IGNITION/ACCESSORY FUSE BECAUSE OURS HAD BLOWN, AND IT STILL DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. SINCE WE CAN'T PUT IT IN GEAR DUE TO THE SECURITY LOCKOUT, WE HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL IN TOWING IT TO A REPAIR SHOP. I HAVE A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY WITH A SLIDING DOOR PROBLEM. I SPORADICALLY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR (HAS HAPPENED TO BOTH SLIDING DOORS BUT ESPECIALLY THE DRIVER'S SIDE) CLOSING PART WAY AND THEN OPENING. SEEMS LIKE SOME KIND OF SENSOR PROBLEM. MY WIFE PURCHASED A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY IN MAY 2008.THIS VAN WAS IN NEED OF NEW FRONT ROTORS AND BRAKES AT 13000 MILES ( WHICH WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND WE HAD TO PAY FOR) THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETED BY THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WHERE THE VAN WAS PURCHASED. THE AN NOW HAS 19000 MILES AND IS IN NEED OF ANOTHER FRONT BRAKE JOB. IT IS ALSO PULSATING FROM THE REAR WHICH MEANS THAT THE ROTORS AND BRAKES ARE GONE ON THE REAR AS WELL. IN 30 YEARS OF OWNING VEHICLES I HAVE NEVER SEEN BRAKES AND ROTORS THAT WILL BE WORN OUT AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE. 7/31/09 - 21,897 VEHICLE MILES - BRAKES BEGAN SQUEAKING - DEALER REP. RECOMMENDED WE WASH ANY BRAKE DUST OUT OF THE WHEELS TO SEE IF THAT RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. 8/5/09 - BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AS THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. IT WAS SQUEAKING AND MAKING A CRUNCHING SOUND WHEN BRAKING, LIKE METAL TO METAL. BELIEVE IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE - HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER. VEHICLE HAD 22,009 MILES. WE WERE TOLD THE FRONT BRAKE PADS WERE AT 26.97 AND MINIMUM SPECS ARE 26.4. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND FRONT ROTORS WERE TURNED. WE WERE TOLD THE ROTORS DID NOT NEED REPLACING AT THAT TIME. 8/25/09 - WE WERE STILL EXPERIENCING A PULSATION WHEN BRAKING. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO OUR PERSONAL MECHANIC. THEY REPLACED AND RESURFACED THE FRONT ROTORS THAT WERE WARPED. THE BRAKES FELT BETTER BUT WE STILL NOTICED AN UNUSUAL SHUDDERING AND HEARD A DEEP CREAKING SOUND AT THE TAIL END WHILE BRAKING. OUR PERSONAL MECHANIC ADVISED THE REAR PADS NEEDED REPLACING AND THE REAR ROTORS HAD 45% WEAR. FEARING WE WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE REAR ROTORS IN THE NEAR FUTURE, WE OPTED TO SAVE LABOR CHARGES LATER AND HAVE BOTH THE REAR PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED. THE BRAKES ARE PERFORMING WONDERFULLY NOW AND ARE VERY SMOOTH. WE FEEL THEY ARE SAFE. WE ARE CONCERNED THOUGH THAT WE WILL HAVE TO REPLACE PADS AND ROTORS EVERY 20,000 MILES AND BELIEVE THIS IS UNSAFE AND UNREASONABLE. WE HAVE OWNED MANY CHRYSLER & DODGE VEHICLES IN THE PAST AND SPECIFICALLY BOUGHT THIS BASED ON OUR PAST POSITIVE EXPERIENCES WITH THESE VEHICLES. JULY 2009 I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND CHECK UP BEFORE LEAVING TOWN FOR VACATION. BRAKES WERE SQUEAKING SO I ASKED TO HAVE THOSE CHECKED AS WELL. I DIDN'T EXPECT ANYTHING MUCH TO COME OF THE BRAKES SINCE THE CAR ONLY HAD ABOUT 12,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. THEY SAID I HAD TO HAVE THE BRAKES DONE WHICH I DID. BRAKES STARTED SQUEAKING THE NEXT DAY WHILE ON THE TRIP AND THE CAR WOULD SHAKE WHEN BRAKING (NOT SUBTLY BUT ENOUGH TO SPILL DRINKS AND TO FEEL LIKE WE WERE RIDING A BUCKING BRONCO). CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHO SAID IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL WE RETURNED TO TOWN AND COULD TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. I TOOK THE CAR BACK IN IMMEDIATELY WHEN WE RETURNED AND HAD THE PROBLEM REPAIRED. THAT LASTED A FEW DAYS AND THE BRAKES STARTED TO SQUEAK AND THEN GRIND. CAR HAS BEEN IN AGAIN AND STILL NO RELIEF FROM THE PROBLEM. THIS IS THE 4TH CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY I HAVE HAD AND THE FIRST TIME I HAVE HAD ANY PROBLEMS. I OWN A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY TOURING VAN WHICH WAS PURCHASED IN SEPT OF 2008. I HAVE 10,000 MILES ON THE VAN, AND HAD PUT ON 1300 MILES DURING THIS TRIP. WHILE TRAVELING THROUGH THE ROLLING HILLS OF WYOMING, I STOPPED AT A SCENIC OVERLOOK. THE 6 PASSENGERS GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE DEFLATED IN A MATTER OF SECONDS. AFTER INSPECTING THE TIRE, WE NOTICED THE CAP WAS NOT ON THE VALVE STEM. IN FACT THE INNER WORKINGS OF THE STEM WERE GONE. THE REPAIRMAN CONFIRMED OUR SUSPICION AND REPLACED THE VALVE STEM. WE ARE IN POSSESSION OF THE DEFECTIVE VALVE STEM. HAD WE BEEN MOVING AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL ACCIDENT. I OWN A CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY 2008, AFTER 20,800 MILES THE FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM HAD TO BE REPLACED, INCLUDING DISCS AND PADS, AND THE REAR HAD TO BE RESURFACED. I COMPLAIN TO THE DEALERSHIP, BAKERSFIELD CHRYSLER. THEY SAID IT WAS WEAR AND TEAR, BUT I ARGUED THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG IF THEY HAD TO BE REPLACED SO FAST FOR NO REASON. THE AGREED AFTER MUCH ARGUING TO COVER HALF THE COST OF THE TOTAL REPAIRS ($800). THEN, 2 MONTHS LATER , 8/17/09, I START HEARING A NOISE COMING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR AROUND WHERE THE EXHAUST IS LOCATED. I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TELL ME THAT THE EXHAUST IS HANGING DUE TO STRUCTURAL FAILURE OF THE MAIN BRACKET HOLDING THE EXHAUST. A COUPLE MORE DAYS IN THE SHOP AT THE DEALER TILL THE VEHICLE IS REPAIRED. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN ABOUT SUCH A NEW CAR WITH HARDLY ANY MILES ON IT AND HAVING SO MANY PROBLEMS, THE DEALERSHIP BLEW ME OFF. NOW, AROUND 10/9/09 AND 30000 MILES, I HEAR THE BRAKES STARTING TO MAKE A LITTLE NOISE AGAIN, THEY TELL ME THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE FRONT PADS AND DISCS AND RESURFACE OR REPLACE THE REAR BRAKES AGAIN. AT JUST OVER 16K MILES I HAD TO GET THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND DISC BRAKES REPLACED AS THEY HAD WORN DOWN TO METAL ON METAL. THE SCREECHING NOISE HAD STARTED ABOUT 3 MONTHS BEFORE THIS - ASSUMED IT WAS DIRT FROM A NEW ENGLAND WINTER. NEVER WOULD HAVE THOUGHT IT WAS THE BRAKES WEARING DOWN TO NOTHING AT AROUND 12 - 13K MILES. THIS IS UNHEARD OF FOR BRAKE LIFE. THE LINE I WAS GIVEN BY THE DEALER, WAS THAT IS NORMAL BASED ON HOW MOM'S DRIVE THE CARS AROUND TOWN ALL THE TIME. '!@#$% IF YOU ASK ME. DID THE SAME DRIVING WITH MY MAXIMA AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. TOLD MY DEALER TO KEEP THE CAR, I DID NOT WANT IT ANYMORE. WE LEASE A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. AT AROUND 15,000 MILES THE FRONT BRAKE PADS NEEDED REPLACED AND I WAS TOLD THAT "I MUST BE A HEAVY BRAKER." AT 22,000 MILES WE HAD OUR BRAKE PADS REPLACED AND ROTORS RESURFACED TO THE TUNE OF $334.63. LESS THAN ONE MONTH LATER, WE WERE GETTING THE NOW FAMILIAR GRINDING SOUND UPON BRAKING SO I TOOK IT BACK TO OUR MECHANIC WHO SAID THAT HE SHOULD HAVE JUST REPLACED THE ROTORS IN THE FIRST PLACE SO HE REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS AND ONLY CHARGED US FOR THE ROTORS AND ATE THE COST OF THE PADS AND LABOR. A WEEK AND A HALF LATER I HAD TO RETURN THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC FOR A HORRIBLE SQUEALING WHENEVER I BRAKED. HE FIXED IT AND CHARGED ME NOTHING. NOW 4 MONTHS AND 5,000 MILES LATER, MY BRAKES ARE AGAIN GRINDING HORRIBLY LIKE THEY WERE IN MAY (22,000 MI) AND THE BRAKES AND POSSIBLY ROTORS NEED REPLACED AGAIN. I HAVE OWNED DODGE CARAVANS, A 2005 TOWN AND COUNTRY AND NOW THIS ONE AND HAVE NEVER HAD BRAKE PROBLEMS LIKE THIS SO I DON'T THINK THAT MY BRAKING HABITS ARE TO BLAME. ALSO, AFTER ONE YEAR, THE IGNITION SWITCH STARTED TO "STICK" IN THE WRONG POSITION UPON STARTING THE CAR AND WOULD LEAVE ME WITH NO ELECTRONIC POWER IN THE CAR. NO LIGHTS, RADIO, LOCKS, DASH DISPLAY, ETC. WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IF I TRY TO CORRECT IT WHILE DRIVING AND THE CAR TURNS OFF, I AM MOVING WITH NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES. *TR

DRIVING WITH CRUISE CONTROL GOING ABOUT 65MPH AND ALL OF SUDDEN THE ENGINE ACCELERATED AND THEN SLOWED DOWN AND I HAD TO TURN OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL AND HIT THE GAS PEDDLE FINALLY KICKED IN NORMALLY. GOOD THING I WAS NOT IN CITY DRIVING GOING 50MPH AND HAD THIS HAPPEN. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTY AND HAD TO HAVE BRAKE PADS REPLACED AT 15000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER SEEMS TO THINK THIS IS NORMAL FOR THIS VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THE BRAKE SYSTEM INSTALLED ON THESE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE. NO ONE BUYING THIS VEHICLE WOULD EXPECT TO HAVE TO REPLACE BRAKES AT 15000 MILES THUS CREATING A SAFETY CONDITIONS FOR THOSE WHO DO PURCHASE THEM. I FEEL THEY SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED WITH PROPER PADS AND ROTOR. *TR
VERY BAD DESIGN FLAW WITH BRAKE DESIGN CAUSING MYSELF AND OTHER CUSTOMERS TO PURCHASE MULTIPLE BRAKES AND ROTORS FOR THIS BADLY ENGINEERED VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM IS ALSO GOING TO CAUSE A LOSS OF TRADE IN VALUE FOR US. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE VEHICLE SHAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL PULSATES WHEN HE APPLIES THE BRAKE WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE CONSUMER ALSO EXPERIENCES AN INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE. HE HAS HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED FOUR TIMES AT EITHER AN AUTHORIZED DEALER OR INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP. WHEN GOING DOWN A HILL AND BRAKING THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES SO BAD AND I DONT FEEL LIKE I HAVE A FULL PEDAL. HAVE TAKEN BACK SEVERAL TIMES TO ASK ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND ALL I GET IS A RUN AROUND FROM A CHRSLER GARAGE. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, TOOK IT TO GET THE CODE DETERMINED. CODE CAME UP WITH THE EGR VALVE WAS BAD, DEALERSHIP STATED I WAS TO FAR OUTSIDE OF MY 36000 WARRANTY TO GET IT COVERED. $225.00 TO REPLACE. EGR VALVES ARE DEFECTIVE. *TR

WHEN DRIVING OR PARKED MY HORN GOES OFF FULL BLAST, THE LIGHTS FLASH AND WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID SPURTS OUT LIKE A GEYSER AND THE WIPERS TRY TO WIPE YET STOP AT THE 12 O'CLOCK POSITION. THE BACK WIPER HAS WIPED, TOO. SEEMS TO HAPPEN RIGHT AFTER DRIVING AND THE CAR IS PARKED, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING WHICH WAS QUITE DANGEROUS. *TR
