TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT RESISTANCE WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AND THERE WAS A LOSS OF BRAKE LINE PRESSURE. IMMEDIATELY, THE DRIVER SWERVED AND MOUNTED THE VEHICLE ON THE CURBSIDE. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THERE WERE NO INJURIES, BUT THE FRONT BUMPER AND BOTH HEADLIGHT BULBS WERE DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 15,000. THE VALVE STEM ON TIRES HAS BROKEN 4 TIMES IN SINCE VEHICLE PURCHASED IN 2008, CAUSING THE TIRES TO IMMEDIATELY AND SUDDENLY DEFLATE. TWICE WHEN INFLATING TIRES WITH AIR, ONCE SHORTLY AFTER GOING THROUGH A CAR WASH AND ONCE INEXPLICABLY WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE LOCAL CHRYSLER SERVICE REP AT MY DEALER CONTINUALLY TELLS ME THAT REPLACING SHOULD PREVENT THE PROBLEM FROM HAPPENING AGAIN, YET IT HAPPENED 4 TIMES. FORTUNATELY NONE OF THE INCIDENTS RESULTED IN A CRASH OR DAMAGE, BUT IF THE VEHICLE WERE MOVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS THIS COULD BE AWFUL. I CANNOT BELIEVE THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ON THESE DEFECTIVE PARTS. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND UNACCEPTABLE, AND I FEEL MY FAMILY IS AT RISK WHEN WE ARE DRIVING. *TR
MY 2008 T&C MINIVAN WAS IN FOR SERVICE, BUT NO KNOWN BRAKE PROBLEM WAS PRESENT. THE TECHNICIAN NOTED THAT THE BRAKE PADS WERE "90 % WORN". THEY RECOMMENDED THAT THEY REPLACE THE PADS & ROTORS. THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE WAS 24,689. MY ISSUE IS THAT SEEMS VERY PREMATURE.
AT 16,000 HAD TO REPLACE FRONT BRAKE PADS DEALER SAID POSSIBLY ROTORS AS WELL 2008 CHRYSLER T&C TOURING VAN. ROTORS DID NOT NEED CHANGED BUT 16,000 MILES ARE RIDICULOUS FOR A BRAKE PAD CHANGE. DEALER SAID THIS IS NORMAL AND HAD SEEN PAD CHANGES AS EARLY AS 12,000 MILES...YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING! *TR
VEHICLE INFORMATION: 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY LIMITED MINIVAN, OWNED SINCE JUNE, 2008. OTHER THAN THE CHIEF COMPLAINT DESCRIBED BELOW, THIS HAS BEEN THE BEST VEHICLE WE HAVE EVER OWNED SO FAR. HOWEVER, ... THE KEY FOB FOR THIS VEHICLE CAN LEAD TO SERIOUS SAFETY AND SECURITY ISSUES. ALL THE BUTTONS ON THE FOB ARE RAISED, MAKING THEM TOO EASILY PUSHED. SEVERAL TIMES PER MONTH, WHILE IN THE KITCHEN OR BATHROOM WITH THE FOB IN MY POCKET, I HAVE LEANED AGAINST A COUNTER ONLY TO HAVE THE VEHICLES' ENGINE START WHILE IN THE GARAGE. SOMETIMES THIS HAS EVEN HAPPENED WHEN SIMPLY SQUATTING DOWN TO PICK SOMETHING UP. THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED WHEN MY WIFE HAS RUMMAGED THROUGH HER PURSE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE FOB. AT OTHER TIMES WHEN THE FOB IS INADVERTENTLY BUMPED, 1 OR MORE OF THE 3 AUTOMATIC DOORS WILL OPEN WITHOUT US KNOWING IT AND STAY OPEN ALL NIGHT, OR PERHAPS JUST THE DRIVER'S DOOR MAY BE UNKNOWINGLY UNLOCKED ALL NIGHT LONG. THE FIRST OF THESE IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT COULD LEAD TO CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING FROM HAVING THE VEHICLE RUNNING IN THE CLOSED ATTACHED GARAGE. THE SECOND OF THESE IS A SECURITY AND SAFETY ISSUE. IF WE ARE AWAY FROM HOME WHERE THE VEHICLE HAPPENS TO BE PARKED OUTSIDE AND THIS HAPPENS, IT LEAVES OUR VEHICLE TOTALLY OPEN TO THEFT AND VANDALISM, OR POSES A SAFETY HAZARD FOR SMALL CHILDREN WHO MAY ENTER AND OPERATE THE OPENED DOORS. THE FOBS FOR OTHER VEHICLES WE OWN (OR ARE FAMILIAR WITH) HAVE RECESSED BUTTONS, MAKING THEM MUCH LESS LIKELY TO BE ACCIDENTALLY PUSHED. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO REDESIGN THE FOB FOR THIS VEHICLE TO RECESS THE BUTTONS AND/OR REPROGRAM THEM SUCH THAT IT TAKES A SPECIFIC SEQUENCE OF MULTIPLE BUTTON PRESSES TO ACTIVATE THE FUNCTION. OR PERHAPS A MECHANICAL SLIDE SWITCH COULD BE ADDED TO DISABLE THE FOB BUTTONS WHILE IN ONE'S POCKET OR PURSE. IN ANY CASE, A REDESIGN AND RECALL IS VITAL TO MITIGATE THESE SAFETY AND SECURITY ISSUES. *TR
I HAD MY TOWN AND COUNTRY FOR JUST OVER 20,000 MILES AND I NEED TO REPLACE THE REAR BRAKES PADS ON MY VACATION. LUCKY I AM A MECHANIC AND COULD DO IT MYSELF. I CALLED THE DEALER DOWN IN FLORIDA AND ASKED IF THERE WAS ANY PROBLEMS WITH THAT MODEL THEY SAID NO. I ASKED FOR PRICE ON PADS AND IF THEY HAD THEM. I CALLED THE PARTS STORE AND THEY HAD THE FRONT BUT NOT HE BACKS THAT WOULD BE A DAY. THE DEALER TOLD ME 4 TO 5 DAYS FOR THE BACK AND FRONTS. I ASKED THE PRICE AND THEY WHERE LESS THEN 1/2 THE PRICE. I ORDERED AND DID THE BRAKE JOB. I HAD TO CALL A DEALER TO FIND OUT HOW TO COMPRESS THE CALIBERS THEY DID NOT KNOW. I REMEMBER THAT VOLKSWAGEN HAD CALIBERS LIKE THIS AND IS TURNED IN. I DID THE BRAKES AND NEEDED TO DO THEM 3 MONTHS LATER AND ROTORS THIS TIME. I FEEL THERE IS A FACTORY PROBLEM HERE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 TO 30 MPH ANOTHER DRIVER WARNED HIM THAT THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO ADVISED HIM THAT HE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED WITHIN EIGHT MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED SINCE CORPORATE HAD TO APPROVE THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. MY NEW 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY STALLED OUT WHILE CRUISING ALONG (50-60MPH) ON THE VERAZZANNO BRIDGE IN NEW YORK. RESULTING IN VEHICLE DAMAGE. *TR
I HAD TO HAVE THE BRAKES AND ROTORS CHANGED ON MY T & C AT 28,000 MILES. WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THE INITIAL BRAKE NOISE, THE BRAKES WERE MAKING A GRINDING NOISE. WHEN THE MECHANIC LOOKED THE BRAKE PADS DISINTEGRATED IN HIS HAND. THE ROTORS HAD A GROOVE IN THEM SO THEY HAD TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE NOW BEEN TOLD THAT BRAKES AND ROTORS ON THIS MODEL WILL NEED TO BE CHANGES EVERY 15 TO 20K MILES. OBVIOUSLY THIS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE LENGTH ON TIME FOR THE PADS MUST LESS THE ROTORS TO LAST. *CN *TR
REGARDING SAFETY RECALL: L25/NHTSA 14V-373 I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE 2008! SINCE IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES AT EAST HILLS CHRYSLER (GREENVALE, NY) IGNORED ME. I WAS TOLD REPEATEDLY THAT THERE WAS NO SUCH PROBLEM. MY CAR STALLED SEVERAL TIMES WHEN I WAS ON NY EXPRESSWAYS GOING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, AND ON NEIGHBORHOOD ROADS GOING A RANGE OF 25 TO 40. IT HAPPENED TO MY 18 YR OLD DAUGHTER ON THE LONG ISLAND EXPRESSWAY WHEN SHE WAS GOING 55. WE AND YOU ARE LUCKY NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED AND WE WERE ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR DOES NOT START PROPERLY EITHER. THE IGNITION DOES NOT CATCH UNLESS THE FOBIK IS WIGGLED OF THE BRAKES AND GAS PEDAL ARE TAPPED REPEATEDLY. I COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM EVERY TIME I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP OVER THE LAST 6 YEARS. EACH TIME, I WAS GIVEN A DIFFERENT EXCUSE. NOW EAST HILLS HAS MY CAR INDEFINITELY BECAUSE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER INDEFINITELY. TO BOOT, THE LOANER CAR WAS DIRTY, SMELLS BAD, WINDSHIELD WAS SMOKY, ONE TIRE NEEDED AIR, AND THE WASHER FLUID WAS EMPTY. I AM NOT AT ALL SATISFIED WITH THIS CAR OR THE EAST HILLS CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. MAYBE SOMEDAY, YOU WILL ALSO ACKNOWLEDGE THE BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM. FOR NOW, IT'S ABOUT TIME YOU ACKNOWLEDGED THE IGNITION/FOBIK PROBLEM! WE'VE KNOWN ABOUT THE PROBLEM FOR YEARS! *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V139000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY DOES NOT START. FROM THURSDAY 01/22/2009 TO MONDAY 01/26/2009, THIS OCCURRED ON THREE OCCASIONS. IT WAS VERIFIED THE BATTERY WAS HOLDING A CHARGE, THE SECOND TIME, THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED. WE HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 3 DAYS AND IT IS IN THE SHOP FOR THE THIRD TIME. *TR
THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR OF MY 2008 TOWN AND COUNTRY CHRYSLER MINI VAN CLOSED ON THE FINGERS OF MY 4 YEAR OLD CHILD WHILE HE WAS SITTING, STRAPPED INTO HIS BOOSTER SEAT. I DID NOT REALIZE UNTIL I OPENED THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND WAS THEN ABLE TO OPEN THE SLIDING DOOR TO RELEASE HIS FINGERS. *TR

HOT AIR WAS FELT COMING THROUGH THE VENTS. THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WAS DEACTIVATED DUE TO THE MALFUNCTION. THE CONTACT PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND INSPECTED UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE COMPRESSOR FAILED TO OPERATE AND THERE WAS NO REFRIGERANT IN THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, REFRIGERANT OIL WAS LEAKING AND PRODUCED A STRONG ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A LACK OF REFRIGERANT IN THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE LEAK WAS NOT DETECTED BY THE TECHNICIAN. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,000.
2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. 18 MONTHS, 22K MILES. FRONT ROTORS AND PADS NEED REPLACEMENT. TYPICALLY I GET 40-60K BEFORE MY FIRST BRAKE SERVICE ON ANY VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED /LEASED. I HAVE FOUND MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS HERE AND IN INTERNET FORUMS. THERE ARE RUMORS OF A TSB BUT I CANNOT FIND A RECORD HERE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2008 CHRYSLER T&C IN SEPTEMBER OF 2008. THE VAN FIRST HAD A PROBLEM WITH FRONT BREAKS AT 18K MILES. I HAD THEM REPLACED AT 23K MILES, THEN HAD THOSE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT 34K MILES. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FRONT BRAKES AGAIN AT 39K MILES AND THEY TURNED DOWN THE ROTORS AND REPLACED THE PADS. AT THE SAME TIME MY REAR BRAKES NEEDED TO BE DONE, AND I HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN TOLD I WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF DUE TO ALL THESE ISSUES, BUT A NEW TECH TRIED TO HIT ME FOR A FULL COST, SO I, WITH SOME HELP, DID THE JOB BY MYSELF. I'M NOW BACK TO NEEDING NEW FRONT BRAKES, AT 47K MILES. I'LL DO THE JOB MYSELF, BUT THE LACK OF CONCERN FROM THE DEALER HAS BEEN DISAPPOINTING. I'VE BEEN TOLD PREVIOUSLY FROM THE DEALER TECH THAT CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM OF UNDERSIZING THE BRAKES, BUT ISN'T DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. SOME MIGHT ARGUE DUE TO POOR SALES FROM 2009, BUT I BELIEVE IT WOULD MEAN A LARGE RECALL AND COST TO THE COMPANY, WHICH IS NOW OWNED BY THE GOVERNMENT. I'VE OWNED 2 PREVIOUS CHRYSLER MINI VANS, A '1999 MODEL, AND 2005 MODEL, THE BEST OF THEM WAS THE '99 FOR SERVICE AND REPAIRS. UNLESS SOMETHING CHANGES FOR CHRYSLER THIS WILL BE THE LAST PRODUCT I OWN FROM THEM. I'M SURE YOU'VE SEEN SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER CHRYSLER MINIVAN OWNERS. *CN

1. BRAKES/ROTORS ON 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY NEED TO BE REPLACED AT 12,000 MILES; 2. HAD TO REPLACE FRONT BRAKES AGAIN AT 20,000 MILES AND REAR AT 27,000 WHICH IS UNHEARD OF (I HAVE BEEN DRIVING A DOZEN DIFFERENT VEHICLES SINCE 1983). 3. CHRYSLER COVERED THE FIRST JOB SINCE THE VEHICLE HAD UNDER 12,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE SINCE SPENT OVER $600 AND BASED ON THIS FREQUENCY, WILL BE SPENDING AGAIN SOON. KEEP IN MIND THIS IS A $42,000 VEHICLE - THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. I CALLED CHRYSLER (BOTH THE DEALER AND THE MAIN CORPORATE OFFICE) AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WILL NOT COVER THIS ITEM. *TR
DURING A RECENT FAMILY VACATION, WE LOADED OUR 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY FOR THE FIRST TIME WITH A LOT OF LUGGAGE. THE THIRD ROW HAS POWER FOLDING SEATS WITH THE WIDER SIDE HAVING A CAR SEAT AND THE SMALLER SIDE UNOCCUPIED. WHILE TRYING TO RETRIEVE ITEMS FROM THE REAR DURING A REST STOP, THE LUGGAGE SHIFTED AND ACTIVATED THE POWER FOLDING SEAT. THANKFULLY, THE SEAT MY CHILD WAS IN DIDN?T FOLD BECAUSE OF THE CAR SEAT. THE OTHER SEAT PROCEEDED TO FOLD AND CRUSH EVERYTHING ON IT. THREE MORE TIMES WE ACCIDENTALLY ENABLED THIS WHEN THE LUGGAGE SHIFTED AND THE CAR SEAT AND LUGGAGE HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REMOVED EACH TIME TO ALLOW THE SEATS TO GO BACK. THERE SHOULD BE A TRAP DOOR OVER THESE BUTTONS OR A LOCKOUT SWITCH TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING! NOT ONLY IS IT VERY DANGEROUS BUT ALSO VERY FRUSTRATING. WE HAVE TO ALWAYS MAKE SURE NOW THAT WE DON'T LOAD UP ANYTHING ON THE LEFT SIDE OF OUR VAN AND IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE A CHILD IS INJURED BY A SEAT ACCIDENTALLY BEING FOLDED. *TR

WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED AND ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES, AN ABNORMAL SOUND EMITTED FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND THE BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS BECAME DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
I ORIGINALLY WROTE A LETTER TO CHRYSLER CORPORATION IN AUGUST OF 2010 AND INSTRUCTED THEM TO FORWARD THE LETTER TO YOU. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT EVER HAPPENED SO I DECIDED I SHOULD FILE A COMPLAINT. MYSELF. BACK IN 2010 CHRYSLER NOTIFIED OWNERS THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM IN 2008 TOWN AND COUNTRY'S THAT LEADS TO PREMATURE WEAR. IN THE NOTICE IT SAID THAT CHRYSLER WOULD PAY FOR THE FIRST REPLACEMENT OF BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS BASED ON LOW MILEAGE REPOLACEMENTS BEING REQUIRED. I FEEL THIS IS AN UNSAFE SITUATION THAT WITH NO WARNING WHATSOEVER THE PADS CAN JUST WEAR OUT AND THE ROTORS WARP. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT BRAKE PADS 3 TIMES WITH NEW ROTORS TWICE. REPLACED AT 12,000, 21,000, 34,000. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN THROUGH A TOTAL OF 4 NEW SETS OF PADS AND 3 SETS OF ROTORS. I ALSO KNOW THAT THERE IS A DEFECT WITH THE FRONT END GEOMETRY ON THE VAN AND THAT COULD BE A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR. AT A SERVICE APPOINTMENT SHORTLY AFTER THE INITIAL PURCHASE I WAS INFORMED THAT THE VAN NEEDED ALL NEW STRUTS, SHOCKS, BUSHINGS, AND FRONT SWAY BAR. THE SERVICE MANAGER INDICATED THAT THERE WAS A BULLETIN, AND THAT THE HEIGHT OF THE MOUNTING POINTS WERE OFF, AND THUS ALL NEW PARTS WERE NEEDED TO FIX THE FRONT END GEOMETRY, SO THE FRONT SWAY BAR WOULD NOT BREAK OR WEAR OUT PREMATURELY. I FEEL THAT THE ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM IS TOO LIGHT FOR THE OVERALL WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE AND THE HEAT GENERATED BY THE ROTORS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I WAS SITTING IN STOPPED TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY, WHEN MY 2008 CHRYSLER T&C WAS REAR ENDED BY A VEHICLE AT APPROX. 75 MPH AND THEN I REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE STOPPED INFRONT OF ME, AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF. THERE WERE 4 PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE; DRIVER, FRONT PASSENGER, TWO SECOND ROW PASSENGERS. NONE OF THE PASSENGERS FELT THEIR SEAT BELT LOCK ON IMPACT. THE DRIVER'S FACE WAS FORCED INTO THE STEERING WHEEL TWICE AND WAS ABLE TO PULL THE SEAT BELT AWAY FROM CHEST AFTER IMPACT. NO ONE HAD ANY VISUAL BRUISING OR PAIN WHERE THE SEAT BELTS LAID ACROSS THE TORSO. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND IS CURRENTLY AT A SALVAGE YARD BEING HELD BY MY AUTO INSURANCE COMPANY. *TR

THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, SO WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE TIPM MODULE AND RETURNED THE VAN WE WENT ON A FAMILY VACATION JUST FOR THE DAY AND CAME HOME THAT EVENING WHEN WE FIGURED OUT THAT THEY DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. SO ONCE AGAIN WE RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY GAVE US A LOANER CAR IF THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT TO CALL IT AND THEY HAD IT FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND THEY REPLACED A CENSOR THAT CONTROLS THE HEADLIGHTS. I JUST GOT IT BACK AND NOT SURE IF THEY ARE FIXED OR NOT BUT THEY SAID THAT THEY ARE FIXED. THE ICE CONTINUED TO BUILD UP ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND WIPERS; HOWEVER, THE DEFROST MECHANISM WOULD NOT HELP WITH GETTING THE PRECIPITATION OFF OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, THE INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING IN FREEZING COLD WEATHER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE DEFROST MECHANISM OF HER YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNDER 15,000.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE I SET THE CRUISE CONTROL WHICH BROKE FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. IT WAS HANGING BY THE WIRES INSIDE THE STEERING COLUMN. AFTER EXITING THE INTERSTATE I MADE A LEFT TURN. THE CRUISE CONTROL STALK GOT ENTANGLED WITH THE TURN SIGNAL CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL TO BECOME INOPERABLE. 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VANS NEED BRAKES WELL BEFORE THEY SHOULD. MY FIRST SET OF BRAKES ONLY LASTED APPROXIMATELY 15000 MILES AND THE VAN HAS NEEDED NEW BRAKES EVERY 3000 MILES SINCE. ACCORDING TO CHRYSLER THIS IS "NORMAL MAINTENANCE." HOWEVER MANY OTHER TOYOTA AND HONDA MINI VAN OWNERS THAT I HAVE SPOKEN WITH HAVE HAD THEIR BRAKES LAST FOR 35K TO 40K MILES. IF YOU RESEARCH CHRYSLER VAN BRAKES ONLINE, MANY PEOPLE HAVE POSTED IN FORUMS THAT THEIR BRAKES ALSO WEAR DOWN AT AN ALARMING RATE. I HAVE READ MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE LIKE THIS WITH ANY OF MY OTHER VEHICLES AND FIND THE ROTORS INSTALLED IN THE 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY UNACCEPTABLE. WELL I WENT TO LEAVE WITH MY CHILDREN AND I HAD NO FAN FOR THE A/C I TOOK IT BACK UP TO THE MECHANIC AND IT JUST STARTED WORKING AGAIN, THEY SAID THAT SOMETIMES IT JUST HAS TO REGISTER WITH THE COMPUTER AND I WENT TO THE STORE. WENT TO LEAVE AND THE A/C WASN'T WORKING AGAIN WENT TO THE DEALER COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WENT WRONG ORDERED A PART THEN IT MAGICALLY STARTED WORKING AGAIN. SO I TOOK MY CHILDREN HOME AND THE NEXT TIME WE LEFT TO GO TO THE STORE I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 70 MPH AND THE CAR JUST SHUT DOWN AGAIN LOSING ALL CONTROL OF THE CAR ELECTRICAL ABILITIES. 2008 CHRYSLER T&C LIMITED W/ 4 LITER ENGINE. SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW IT PERIODICALLY PRODUCES LARGE PLUMES OF SMOKE WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE. SEVERAL TRIPS TO TWO DEALERSHIPS RESULTED IN NO DIAGNOSTIC ACTION BECAUSE THE PROBLEM WAS NOT REPRODUCIBLE AT THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER SEVERAL CALLS TO CHRYSLER AND TRIPS TO TWO DEALERSHIPS, THE PROBLEM FINALLY SURFACED AT THE ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS A BAD PCV VALVE AND IT WAS REPLACED. HOWEVER, WHEN PICKING UP THE VEHICLE AFTER THE REPAIR, THE VEHICLE AGAIN SMOKED WHILE IN THE PRESENCE OF THE SERVICE MANAGER. THE PROBLEM STILL REMAINS AT 27,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE CONSUMES TWICE THE AMOUNT OF OIL AS THE OWNER'S 2000 CHRYSLER T&C WITH 160,000 MILES AND THREE TIMES AS MUCH OIL AS THE OWNER'S 1998 BUICK CENTURY WITH 135,000 MILES. A CONSUMPTION TEST WAS CONDUCTED AT THE 2ND DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPORTED THAT THE OIL CONSUMPTION WAS WITHIN CHRYSLER'S SPECIFICATIONS. *TR

WE ARE GOING TO GET A SPEEDING TICKET BECAUSE YOU CAN'T MAKE THE VEHICLE GO THE SPEED LIMIT WITHOUT HAVING YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE. OR WE ARE GOING TO WIND UP REAR ENDING SOMEONE, BECAUSE YOU EXPECT THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF OF THE GAS, BUT IT DOESN'T. THE PROBLEM IS CONSISTENT OVER 40 MILES PER HOUR. AND IT HAS BEEN DUPLICATED BY THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION IS A 2008, CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN WITH A 3.3L ENGINE. *TR

HE WAS CONCERNED THAT IF A CHILD WERE TO SIT IN THE SEAT AND USE THE POWER OPTION, THEY MAY BE INJURED DUE TO THE LACK OF SAFETY STOPS ON THE SEAT. THE MOUNTING BRACKETS ON THE SEAT WERE DENTED BECAUSE THE MOTORS WERE HOLDING UP THE SEAT. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO SPEAK WITH THE DEALER WHEN HE WAS THERE FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THERE MAY BE AN ISSUE WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 26,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE H-1 FREEWAY IN HONOLULU, FRIDAY AFTERNOON ABOUT 1:20 AND MY 2008 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY LOST POWER ACTUALLY THE ENGINE TURNED OFF. I WAS IN A MIDDLE LANE AND TRAFFIC WAS NOT GOOD. I ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH BECAUSE I WASN'T PREPARED FOR MY POWER STEERING TO GO OUT JUST BEFORE A CURVE. THANKFULLY, I WAS ABLE TO STOP SAFELY. I WROTE A FEW WEEKS AGO ABOUT THE DOORS ON MY 2008 TOWN & COUNTRY THAT THE OPENED ON THERE OWN AND THEN WOULD NOT ALWAYS RESPOND TO THE REMOTE. CHRYSLER HAS UPDATED THE COMPUTER IN MY VAN. RECENTLY I HAD MORE PROBLEMS OF THE DOORS NOT RESPONDING SO THE VAN WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THAT AND A NEW RADIO WITH WIRING FROM THE RADIO TO THE ANTENNA, HAD TO HAVE THE SEATS ON THE MIDDLE ROW REUPHOLSTERED AND BECAUSE OF HEAT COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE DASHBOARD. WHICH IS THE OTHER REASON I AM WRITING. THEY CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM AND IT IS NOT ALL THE TIME BUT THERE IS A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF HEAT THAT COMES OUT. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT GIVE ANY WARNING BEFORE IT SHUT DOWN; HOWEVER, IT DOES NOT OCCUR WHILE SITTING IDLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SLIDING DOORS DO NOT CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY. THE DOORS CLOSE AND THEN OPEN BACK UP. THE DOORS WILL ONLY CLOSE MANUALLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE DEALER HAD TO REPLACE THE ETESIAN INDICATOR SENSOR. THE BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE WITHIN THE FIRST 37603 MILES. THE FIRST TIME THEY WERE REPLACED AT 21000 MILES. THE REAR BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 29781. THE REAR LIFT GATE BROKE IN SEPTEMBER 2009. THE STARTER FAILURE CAUSED THE AIR CONDITIONER TO FAIL AND THE WINDOWS FROM OPENING AND CLOSING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY ALSO HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMING ON. THE CLOCK SPRING STEERING ANGLE SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WILL START AND THE GEAR SHIFT SELECTOR WOULD MOVE, BUT WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS ENGAGED THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE ROTORS, CALIBERS AND THE BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
