The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Avenger. The contact stated while driving at various speeds in the rain and snow, the windshield wipers shuddered and stopped working. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that there was corrosion detected and that the wiper motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. While driving, the windshield wipers stopped in an upward position. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
WIPERS WILL STOP IN MIDDLE OF WINDSHIELD, OR BE JERKY WHEN MOVING. IF STOPPED, MOVING WIPER CONTROL TO NEXT POSITION, OR TURNING WIPERS BACK OFF, THEN ON, WILL MAKE WIPERS MOVE A BIT MORE. IN A RAIN STORM, HAVE TO CONSTANTLY MOVE WIPER SWITCH TO MAKE WIPERS MOVE. VISIBILITY IS A DISASTER. MAKES DRIVING IN A RAINSTORM VERY DANGEROUS.
