WHEN DRIVING THE ENGINE WILL SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN WITH NO FORE WARNING. THE GAS PEDDLE WILL GO TO THE FLOOR, ALL STEERING FUNCTIONS WILL BE REMOVED. THE VEHICLE LOCKS FROM 70 TO 0 IN A MATTER OF SECONDS!!! SHORTLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WILL RESTART. THUS FAR, NUMEROUS MECHANICS HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DISCOVER THE PROBLEM.
AFTER FUELING MY 2006 DODGE CHARGER ON THE ABOVE STATED DATE THE CAR STALLED AFTER EXITING THE GAS STATION. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND PROCEEDED THROUGH AN INTERSECTION WHERE IT HESITATED AND STALLED AGAIN. AFTER RESTARTING THE SECOND TIME THERE WERE NO MORE ISSUES WITH THE CAR STALLING THAT DAY. A DAY LATER THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH BEING ABLE TO STOP THE CAR UPON PRESSING ON THE BRAKES AND COMING TO AN INTERSECTION. LUCKILY THE CAR WAS ABLE TO BE CLEAR THE INTERSECTION AND AN ACCIDENT WAS AVOIDED AT THAT TIME. A COUPLE DAYS LATER THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP AS NEEDED AGAIN AT AN INTERSECTION. DURING THE TIMES WHERE THE CAR IS UNABLE TO STOP IT SEEMS AS IF THE CAR DECREASES IN ACCELERATION AND IS UNCONTROLLABLE AT THAT TIME, AFTER TAKING IT TO A LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP I WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, WHICH IS COVERED UNDER DODGE EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT IT IS UNKNOWN AS TO WHEN THE TWO NEEDED PARTS WOULD BE IN BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIPS ARE ON RESTRICTION WITH ORDERING THE NEEDED PARTS (2 PARTS ARE NEEDED, ONE PART CAN BE ORDER 1 EVERY 7 DAYS AND THE OTHER 1 CAN BE ORDER 1 EVERY 14 DAYS). THE ONLY ADVICE THAT I AM BEING GIVEN IS NOT TO FILL THE GAS TANK ALL THE WAY UP, BUT THESE ISSUES HAVE OCCURRED WITHOUT THE TANK BEING COMPLETELY FULL. I WAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATED TIME FRAME OF 4 TO 6 MONTHS BEFORE THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE, WHICH IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE BECAUSE I HAVE TO WORK DAILY.DODGE SEEMS UNWILLING TO ACCOMMODATE CONSUMERS WHILE THIS ISSUE IN BEING ADDRESSED, WHICH IS BAD BUSINESS. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY KIDS IN A CAR THAT STALLS AT ANY GIVEN TIME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER THE FUEL TANK WAS REFUELED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
FILLED VEHICLE WITH 10% ETHANOL 87 OCTANE GASOLINE AT SELF-SERVICE STATION ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2014. DROVE AWAY AND VEHICLE STALLED AT FIRST INTERSECTION. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND STARTED IT WITH NO FURTHER PROBLEMS UNTIL I FILLED TANK AGAIN AFTER ABOUT 250 MILES. (I WAS DRIVING A 1500 MILE TRIP FROM ONE STATE TO ANOTHER.) EVERY TIME I REFILLED THE TANK, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHIN A FEW HUNDRED FEET OF FILLING STATION. THIS STALLING HAS CONTINUED THROUGH YESTERDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2014, AND I AM CONCERNED IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN WHEN I REFILL THE TANK. IF THE VEHICLE STALLS AT THE WRONG TIME, SOMEONE COULD BE SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED. *TR

THIS INCIDENT STARTED OCCURRING IN SEPTEMBER OF 2014 BUT I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS A "HICCUP" AND NEVER REALLY PAID IT ANY MIND UNTIL IT STARTING HAPPENING MUCH MORE FREQUENTLY. AFTER I FILL UP MY GAS TANK (I DON'T OVER FILL) MY CAR HAS INTERMITTENT ENGINE STALLS CAUSING ME TO LOSE THROTTLE RESPONSE AND MY POWER STEERING. SOMETIMES THE CAR HAS ENOUGH RPM TO RESTART THE MOTOR BUT MOST OF THE TIME I HAVE TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND TURN THE KEY TO RESTART. THIS IS HAPPENING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE!! SCARES ME TO DEATH. NOW I HAVE THIS STALLING ISSUE EVERY SINGLE TIME I FILL UP. WHEN SLOWING DOWN IS WHEN THE INCIDENT IS MOST PREVALENT BUT EVEN TAKING TURNS ITS HAPPENED AND I LOSE POWER STEERING. CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. *TR
I FILLED UP WITH GAS IN CALIFORNIA WHEN ON VACATION. I PULLED OUT OF THE GAS STATION AND ONTO THE FREEWAY. ABOUT A MINUTE AFTER MERGING AND GETTING UP TO SPEED THE ENTIRE CAR SHUT OFF. NO POWER, NO POWER STEERING, COMPLETELY DIED. I HAD TO MERGE THROUGH TWO LANES OF HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS TO GET OUT OF THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. CAR WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER PUTTING IT IN PARK AND WAITING SEVERAL MINUTES. HUGE SAFETY CONCERN HAVING THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF ON ME. I HAVE HAD FOUR OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS HAPPEN TO ME. THE OTHER TIMES I WAS ON SIDE STREETS OR IN THE PARKING LOT WAITING FOR THE CAR TO DIE. *TR
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND KNOCKED EXCESSIVELY AT LOW AND HIGH RATES OF SPEED. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP, IT HESITATED SEVERAL TIMES AND LUNGED FORWARD. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH FORCE TO ENSURE THAT THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT LATER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V313000 (AIR BAGS) 16V352000, BUT HAD TO WAIT FOR THE SECOND NOTICE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,200. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I STARED MY 2006 DODGE CHARGER UP ONE DAY AND IT SOUNDED LIKE A LAWNMOWER, SO I SENT IT OFF TO THE DEALER SAY IT DROPPED A VALVE, I SAY HOW THAT HAPPEN THEY TELL ME ITS A DEFECT WITH THOSE ENGINES HE GETS THEM IN ALL THE TIME. IM SO UPSET BEHIND THIS MATTER CAUSE THEY WANT $3500 TO FIX MY CAR, I KEEP MY CAR FULLY SERVICED JUST HAD A MAJOR TUNE UP & WATER PUMP REPLACED. *TR

ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY BECAME LODGED IN THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V583000 (POWER TRAIN). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
VEHICLE SEEMS TO BUCKLE AND JERK, MOST NOTABLY AFTER REFUELING. FIRST NOTICED THIS WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE TRAVELING AT 70 MPH. VEHICLE EVENTUALLY SHUTS OFF WHEN YOU NEAR A STOP AND SOMETIMES TAKES MULTIPLE TIMES TO RESTART. THE OIL LIGHT COMES ON WHEN IT SHUTS OFF BUT THE OIL LEVEL IS FINE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET IT WAS NIGHT AND MY LIGHTS COMPLETELY WENT OUT I COULDN'T SEE IT STILL DOING IT AT NIGHT GOING OFF. *TR
I LEARNED ABOUT THE FUEL TANK WARRANTY AND WILL BE GETTING THAT REPAIRED, BUT MY ISSUE IS AT 75 TO 100% THROTTLE MY CAR WILL STALL OUT. BUT MY CAR STARTS BACK UP ON ITS OWN LIKE NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. WHEN IT STALLS IT THROWS YOU FORWARD LIKE THE CAR IS BRAKING AND THEN WHEN IT FIRES BACK UP YOU CAN HIT THE THROTTLE AND IT WILL GO AS NORMAL. *TR
I FILLED MY GAS TANK GETTING READY TO GO ON A TRIP AND VEHICLE STARTED STALLING OUT WITHOUT WARNING ,ENGINE WOULD JUST SHUT DOWN. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 2006 DODGE CHARGERS WITH THE FUEL TANK. *TR
I WAS IN ROUTE HOME AND STOPPED TO GET FUEL AND PROCEEDED ON MY ROUTE WHEN MY VEHICLE COMPLETELY STALLED WITH NO USE OF BREAKS OR STEERING AVAILABLE. IN ATTEMPT TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE I CRASHED INTO A DITCH. END RESULTED IN ME WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY TOTALING OUT MY VEHICLE. I HAD NO MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION AND AT COMPLETE LOSS OF A VEHICLE THAT I FINALLY WAS THRU PAYING FOR!! I WISH SOMEONE WILL HELP ME AND MY FAMILY THE LOSS OF THIS VEHICLE TOOK A GREAT TOLL ON MY FAMILY! I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIPS AND EVEN LAWYERS!

I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE, AND HAVE REGULARLY MAINTAINED IT AND PERFORMED ALL THE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE AT THE MANUFACTURER'S SUGGESTED INTERVALS. THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY, WITH NO INDICATIONS OF ANY ISSUES. ON 8/12/14, I WENT TO START MY VEHICLE AND IT MADE A HORRENDOUS BANGING NOISE BEFORE IMMEDIATELY SHUTTING DOWN. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED HOME (AS I WAS THIRTY MILES AWAY) AND DISCOVERED THE ENGINE VALVE IN PISTON #2 HAD BROKEN AND SHATTERED, CAUSING AN ENGINE FAILURE, WITH THE ONLY REPAIR BEING A COMPLETE ENGINE REBUILD OR REPLACEMENT. A CHECK ON-LINE SHOWED THIS IS A COMMON AND RECURRING ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL AND ENGINE TYPE (2006 DODGE CHARGER R/T). I REPORTED THE ISSUE TO DODGE, AND WAS TOLD THERE ARE NO KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE OF VALVES, HOWEVER THE DODGE TECHNICIAN AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED. THE EVIDENCE TO THIS IS THE ENGINE PARTS NEEDED TO FIX THIS (BLOCK, VALVES, ETC.) ARE ON A 2 TO 6 MONTH BACK-ORDER. PLEASE HELP! I CAN NOT AFFORD TO BASICALLY PAY FOR A NEW CAR FOR A KNOWN ISSUE THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED BY THE MANUFACTURER. *TR
AFTER FILLING GAS TANK COMPLETELY, CAR STARTED STALLING GOING DOWN THE ROAD. CONTINUED TO STALL AT STOP LIGHT AND IN PARKING LOT AND WOULD NOT STAY RUNNING UNLESS HITTING THE GAS PEDAL. PROBLEM SEEMED TO RESOLVE ITSELF AFTER A FEW MILES. SAME EXACT ISSUE HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS, BUT ONLY WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK COMPLETELY. WHEN ONLY PUTTING PARTIAL AMOUNT INTO TANK, THIS ISSUE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE AN ISSUE. HAVE DONE RESEARCH ONLINE AND IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2006 CHARGER AND 2 OTHER CHRYSLER MODELS. SPOKE WITH FIRESTONE IN COLUMBUS GA AND WAS ADVISED THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND THAT MY GAS TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. CONTACTED A DODGE DEALERSHIP IN COLUMBUS GA OVER 2 MONTHS AGO AND WAS ADVISED FUEL TANK IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. *TR
AFTER REFUELING VEHICLE, THE ENGINE WOULD STALL EACH TIME THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THIS HAPPENED FOR SEVERAL MILES. AFTER SEVERAL MILES OF CONTINUOUS DRIVING, THE PROBLEM STOPPED. I'VE READ THIS IS DUE TO A EVAP PROBLEM WITH MY YEAR AND MAKE OF CAR. *TR
MY 2006 DODGE CHARGER TRANSMISSION SHIFTER IS STUCK ON THE PARK POSITION. WHEN I CONTACTED CHRYSLER IN REGARDS TO THEIR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION K39 TRANSMISSION SHIFTER INTERLOCK LEVER RECALL THEY STATED THAT MY CAR WAS NOT IN RECALL BUT ON THE NOTIFICATION IT STATES 2005 - 2007 DODGE CHARGERS WHERE ON RECALL FOR THE SHIFTER INTER LOCK BEING STUCK ON THE PARK POSITION. I WAS TOLD THAT ONLY CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS WHERE ON RECALL & THAT ALTHOUGH MY CAR IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME PART ITS NOT ON RECALL, BUT IF MY CAR WAS IN THAT SAME TIME FRAME, HAS THE SAME PARTS & IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE OTHERS THAT WHERE ON RECALL WHY IS MY CAR NOT ON THAT RECALL & WHY I CANNOT GET MY CAR REPAIRED? *TR
MY CAR WAS USING WAY TOO MUCH GAS COMPARED TO WHAT IT USED TO AND WAS RUNNING POORLY SO I TOOK IT IN FOR A TUNE UP. THE FILTERS, PLUGS, FLUIDS, ETC. WERE DONE. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AFTER THE TUNE UP I BEGAN TO HAVE TROUBLE. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS THE SHOP THAT HAD DONE THE TUNE UP BUT AFTER READING HUNDREDS OF LETTERS FROM OTHER PEOPLE, I KNOW NOW THAT IT IS THE CAR. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS: WHEN I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AFTER STOPPING AT STOP SIGN, MY CAR LOST ALL POWER AND DIED WITHIN TWO BLOCKS OF THE STOP SIGN. THE CAR STARTED UP AND SEEMED FINE. APPROXIMATELY A WEEK AND A HALF LATER, AGAIN, I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN AND THE CAR STALLED ABOUT 4 BLOCKS FROM THE STOP SIGN. THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN INTERMITTENTLY UNTIL SEPTEMBER15, 2014, WHEN THE CAR DIED WHEN I WAS APPROACHING THE STOP SIGN AND HAD TO BE TOWED. I HAVE 5 GRANDCHILDREN THAT I TRANSPORT DAILY AND THIS CAR IS JUST NOT SAFE TO DO SO ANYMORE. THANK GOODNESS I HAVE NOT GONE OUT OF TOWN WITH A CAR LOAD OF CHILDREN AND HAVE THIS HAPPEN.
I BOUGHT MY 2006 DODGE CHARGER 3.5L V6 NEW IN MAY 2006. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS CAR UNTIL SUMMER OF 2009 JUST AFTER MY WARRANTY EXPIRED, MY GEAR SHIFTER STUCK IN THE PARK POSITION AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. I CALLED DODGE TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM AFTER READING ABOUT SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAD SAME ISSUE. WAS TOLD NO, I PAID TO HAVE IT FIXED SOMEWHERE AROUND $450-500. ON MONDAY I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED BECAUSE IT BROKE DOWN ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. IT SOUNDED LIKE THE CAR WAS GOING TO EXPLODE LIKE IN A CARTOON. IT WAS MAKING KNOCKING NOISES AND SOUNDED LIKE A DIESEL TRUCK. MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT MY ENGINE WAS SHOT. HOW COULD THIS BE? MY CAR HAS 67,716 MILES ON IT!!! VERY LOW MILEAGE FOR A 2006 VEHICLE. CALLED DODGE AND ASKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ENGINE PROBLEM. I READ OF MANY, MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. NO RECALL, BUT IF I CAN HAVE IT TOWED TO AN APPROVED DODGE DEALER AND GET A DIAGNOSIS FROM THEIR MECHANIC, CALL BACK. I WAS GIVEN A CLAIM # FROM DODGE HQ. I HAVE AN INSURANCE ADJUSTER GOING OUT TOMORROW MORNING TO ASSESS THE DAMAGE AND THE PROBLEM. I AM FURIOUS! I SPENT A LOT OF MONEY ON THIS CAR AND IT SHOULD LAST MORE THAN 67K MILES! UPDATE FROM AUG 5, 2014 UPDATE: 8/5/14 INSURANCE TOLD ME THAT IT IS A KNOWN COMMON ISSUE WITH THE DODGE CHARGER AND BECAUSE OF THIS, THERE ARE NOT MANY RECYCLED ENGINES AVAILABLE OR IF THEY ARE FOUND, IT MIGHT HAVE SAME ISSUE AS MINE DID. ADJUSTER SAID THAT IT WAS A PRESSURE LEAK THAT ONLY HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING CAUSING THE FILTER TO EXPAND AND OIL TO LEAK. MY ENGINE IS BEYOND REPAIR! I CALLED DODGE HQ AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE AFTER CHECKING MY VIN#. ALSO TOLD ME THEY WILL NOT HELP ME. THEY TOLD ME I CAN FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. MEANWHILE I AM TAKING THE BUS. NOT A HAPPY CAMPER! *TR

AFTER EVERY FILL UP MY 2006 DODGE CHARGER WILL DIE. IT WILL STALL. IT WILL STOP RUNNING. THIS WILL, AND HAS HAPPENED WHILE IDLING AT INTERSECTIONS, DURING U-TURNS, LEFT TURNS, RIGHT TURNS, AT 25 MPH, AT FREEWAY SPEEDS UP TO 65 MPH, AND, OR EVERY SPEED IN BETWEEN. IT OCCURS UP TO AND UNTIL THE ENGINE BURNS OFF SUFFICIENT FUEL SO AS NOT TO EFFECT WHATEVER SYSTEM IS BEING EFFECTED/FAILING. THIS IS POTENTIALLY FATAL (ONE EXAMPLE COULD BE WHILE MAKING A LEGAL LEFT HAND TURN IN FRONT OF ON COMING TRAFFIC FULLY EXPECTING THE CAR TO CONTINUE RUNNING, AND THEN IMMEDIATELY LOSING ENGINE POWER, POWER BRAKES, AND POWER STEERING WHICH ARE ALL SUPPLIED ONLY WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. WHILE DRIVING, I HEARD A CHIME, AND THE ENGINE OIL SYMBOL CAME ON, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED. (BEARING IN MIND THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED JUST TWO WEEKS PRIOR ) . I HAVE TAKEN IT TO LOCAL DODGE SERVICE AND THEY DID NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENED SINCE FIVE TIMES. AT THE LOCAL SERVICE WHEN IT HAPPENED ON THE THIRD TIME THE INFACT KEPT IT UNTIL THE PROBLEM WAS DUPLICATED. HOWEVER,THEY ARGUED SINCE THEY WERE NO LONGER CERTIFIED DODGE DEALER THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO FIX THE VEHICLE. UNDER THERE OWN MANAGEMENT THEY TOOK IT TO A CERTIFIED DODGE DEALER. THE DEALER HAD IT SAID HE DID COMPUTER UPDATES 5 DAYS LATER THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. *TR
I FIRST NOTICED AN ISSUE NOT LONG AFTER BUYING THE CAR. AFTER EVERY FILL UP (WITHOUT TOPPING OFF), WITHIN A FEW HUNDRED FEET OF DRIVING OFF THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CAR SHUTS OFF. I WAS SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT, THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. I HAVE EXPERIENCED A NUMBER OF INCIDENTS WHERE THE VEHICLE WHILE MOVING AT A SLOW SPEED (TYPICALLY IN CITY TRAFFIC) THE VEHICLE WILL JERK FORWARD AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WILL DING. SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL PUSH THROUGH AND KEEP MOVING OTHER TIMES IT WILL STALL COMPLETELY AND NEED TO BE RESTARTED. IN MAY 2014 I RECIEVED A LETTER FROM CHRYSLER IN REGARDS TO THE FAULTY FUEL TANK IN MY 2006 DODGE CHARGER RT. THEY WROTE TO LET ME KNOW THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF A FAULTY FUEL SHUT-OFF FLOAT IN MY GAS TANK THAT WILL CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STALL. I CALLED TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIR AND WAS TOLD THAT CHRYSLER IS ONLY SENDING OUT ONE FUEL TANK PER DEALERSHIP PER WEEK AND THAT I WAS 7TH IN LINE TO HAVE MY WORK PERFORMED. SO THAT MEANT THAT I WOULD HAVE TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT WAS CONTINUALLY CUTTING OFF FOR 2 MONTHS EVEN BEFORE THEY WOULD FIX IT. I CALLED CHRYSLER TO INQUIRE WHY IT WOULD TAKE SO LONG TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT THEY KNOW IS CAUSING NUMEROUS VEHICLES TO CUT OFF AND THEY SAID THAT THE PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER. I INDICATED TO THEM THAT I HAD COME CLOSE TO HAVING NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WAS STALLING IN TRAFFIC AND YET THEY DIDNT SEEM TO CARE ONE IOTA. AFTER WAITING 2 MONTHS FOR MY TIME IN LINE TO COME AROUND I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE WHEN THE WORK WOULD BE ABLE TO BE DONE AND WAS TOLD THAT I WAS NEXT IN LINE BUT THE PART WAS STILL ON BACKORDER AND COULD NOT HAVE MY VEHICLE FIXED YET. THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE AS TO WHEN THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO GET THE PARTS IN. I FIND IT VERY HARD TO FATHOM THAT A MAJOR AUTOMAKER SUCH AS CHRYSLER/DODGE, KNOWING ABOUT A PROBLEM WITH THEIR VEHICLES THAT ARE CAUSING THEM TO SHUT OFF IN TRAFFIC AND ARE NOT EXPEDITING THE PROCESS OF HAVING THOSE VEHICLES FIXED. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAD A TRANSMISSION LEAK, AND IT SHUDDERED, THE SUN ROOF RATTLED AND THE SIDE TRIM FELL OFF. A FORMER TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST, INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE CONDENSATION DRAIN FOR THE AIR CONDITION DRIPPED ONTO THE TRANSMISSION AND POOLED AROUND THE TRANSMISSION FILLER TUBE. WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHED A 140,000 MILES, IT BEGAN EMITTING WHITE SMOKE, TO THE POINT WHERE THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO SEE OUT OF HIS REAR VIEW MIRROR. AN INSPECTION REVEALED THE VALVE SEAT OF THE #3 CYLINDER HAD DROPPED OUT, SMASHING TWO LARGE HOLES ONE ON EACH SIDE OF THE PISTON, THE SIZE OF A QUARTER. THERE WAS ALSO A HAIRLINE CRACK ACROSS THE APEX OF THE PISTON HOLE-TO-HOLE, THE DEBRIS HAD PUMMELED THE CYLINDER HEAD. ALSO, DEBRIS FROM THE DAMAGE HAD BEEN SUCKED BACK INTO THE INLET MANIFOLD DEPOSITING METAL CHUNKS INTO THE #1 AND #2 CYLINDERS DAMAGING THE PISTONS AND HEADS WITH SMALL CHUNKS OF METAL EMBEDDED IN THEM. *JB UPDATED 08/28/14

WHEN DRIVING @40MPH, ENGINE LOST POWER, DASH SIGNALED 'DING', AND THROTTLE BODY WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IT RESTARTED AS THE CAR COASTED. HAS REPEATED NUMEROUS TIMES, INCLUDING TODAY, 3 TIMES IN LESS THAN 1 1/2 MILES, AT LESS THAN 20MPH. NO TROUBLE CODES SCANNED OR DISPLAYED. SYMPTOM WENT AWAY FOR 1 1/2 MONTHS AFTER CHANGING OUT SPARK PLUGS, AS A DODGE TECH RECOMMENDED. HE ALSO SAYS THE IGNITION COILS DETERIORATE OVER TIME, AND THE INTERNAL SHIELDING DOES NOT KEEP STRAY 'NOISE' FROM TRAVELLING INTO THE ENGINE CONTROLLER, EFFECTIVELY RESETTING IT, AND SHOWING NO CODES. HAVING 8 FACTORY COILS TO REPLACE AT $55 EACH IS QUITE A GAMBLE THAT MAY NOT FIX THE ISSUE. AFTERMARKET COILS APPARENTLY DO NOT FIX THIS, EITHER. I HAVE TIGHTENED EVERY ELECTRICAL GROUNDING POINT I CAN FIND ON THE CAR, UNPLUGGED/PLUGGED NUMEROUS CONNECTORS TO RESEAT THEM. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE, AND IT APPEARS ON '06 AND SOME 07 CHARGERS. IF THIS HAPPENS AND A COLLISION OCCURS BECAUSE OF THIS, I WILL SEEK FULL LEGAL REMEDY FROM FCA(CHRYSLER) AS THIS IS AN OBVIOUS LIABILITY/SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

AFTER FUEL REFILL, MOTOR WILL STALL AND DIE MULTIPLE TIMES FOR UP TO THE NEXT MILE OF DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THIS IS DANGEROUS. AFTER ONLINE INVESTIGATION I FOUND THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH MANY CARS OF THIS TYPE. IT IS ALSO, IN MY EYES, AN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE REPAIR AS IT WILL COST ME NEARLY 1/4 OF THE PRICE I PAID FOR THE CAR. WE PURCHASED A 2006 DODGE CHARGER 3.5L FROM A LOCAL DEALERSHIP WITH AROUND 63,000 MILES. THEY FILLED THE TANK UP BEFORE WE LEFT. OTHER THAN THE CUSTOMARY LAP AROUND TOWN WITH THE "NEW" CAR, I DIDN'T DRIVE IT FOR TWO DAYS. I DROVE THE CAR 70 MILES TO ANOTHER TOWN FOR AN APPOINTMENT WITH NO ISSUES. WHEN I WENT TO LEAVE MY APPOINTMENT, I STARTED THE CAR AND ATTEMPTED TO BACK OUT OF MY PARKING SPOT. THE CAR DIED AS SOON AS I PLACED IT IN REVERSE. I THOUGHT OF REVVING THE ENGINE WHILE REVERSING TO GET THE CAR TO MOVE, BUT I DIDN'T DO IT BECAUSE OF SAFETY ISSUES. I WAS BLINDLY BACKING INTO A STREET AND DIDN'T WANT TO GET INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. MY BROTHER HAPPENS TO WORK IN THE SAME TOWN I WAS IN. HE CAME TO HELP. I STOOD IN THE STREET TO BLOCK TRAFFIC. HE REVVED UP THE ENGINE (TWO FOOTED THE BRAKE AND GAS) AND MANAGED TO BACK IT INTO THE STREET. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. I TWO FOOTED THE CAR THE 70 MILES BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP I HAD PURCHASED IT FROM. THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM SENT IT TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR AND THAT THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE ENGINE DYING. THEY STATED THAT I WAS DRIVING WITH THE PARKING/EMERGENCY BRAKE ON. I NEVER USE MY PARKING BRAKE (ALL MY CARS HAVE BEEN AUTOMATICS). MY PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT ON AT ANY TIME. MY BROTHER STATED THE PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT ON. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH HOW THE DEALERSHIP HANDLED IT. I COULD NOT DRIVE MY CAR OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. I WAS DRIVING OUT OF THE GAS STATION AND THE CAR STARTED TO STALL DO TO A PROBLEM WITH THE GAS TANK. THE CAR WOULD SHAKE FORWARD AND BACK VERY HARD THEN THE ENGINE WOULD RACE ALMOST TO REDLINE THEN THE CAR WOULD STALL. IT DID THIS THREE TIMES BUT ON THE THIRD TIME I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE MEDAL HITTING MEDAL. THE THIRD TIME I TRIED TO START THE CAR AND HEARD THIS LOUD TICKING SOUND. I CUT THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND THE SOUND WAS STILL THERE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOOK APART MY ENGINE TO FIND OUT WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD A ROD BEARING ISSUE AND MY ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS GOING TO COST ME $6300. I DON'T BELIEVE THIS IS FAIR DUE TO THE REPEATED ENGINE STALLING AND JUMPING IS WHAT CAUSED MY ISSUE IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE DEALERSHIP ORIGINALLY TOLD ME THAT THE STALLING AND JUMPING IS THE CAUSE OF MY ISSUE AND BECAUSE THERE IS A WARRANTY ON THE GAS TANK THEY WOULD REPLACE ANY DAMAGE THAT IT CAUSED. AFTER REQUESTING THE FUNDS FROM CHRYSLER CORP. THE DEALERSHIP STATED MY ISSUE COULD NOT BE CAUSED BY THE JUMPING AND STALLING. I QUESTION THEIR HONESTY. I CALLED DODGE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY REFUSE TO COVER ANY DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE DUE TO THE MILEAGE AND IT CANNOT BE PROVEN WHAT CAUSED MY ISSUE EVEN THOUGH THEY TOLD ME THAT THE REPEATED JUMPING AND STALLING COULD CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN. *TR

NHTSA WEBSITE AND PHONE CALL REVEALED THAT 2005-2007 AVENGERS RECALLED FOR SAME EXACT ISSUE, BUT NOT CHARGERS. READ OVER 200 COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA WEBSITE AND AT LEAST 80% OF SAID COMPLAINTS ARE SAME EXACT ISSUE. AN INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE OPENED ABOUT THIS. IT IS A VERY EXPENSIVE FIX FOR THE OWNER, AND NOT THEIR FAULT. *TR
DRIVING MY 2006 CHARGER DAYTONA WITH MY TODDLER FROM LUNCH, GOING TO GET GAS, AND THEN GO HOME. MY CHARGER ENGINE DIED WHILE DRIVING. IT STARTED BUT SOUNDED DIFFERENT. I PUSHED INTO A PARKING LOT. THE ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE A RATTLING AND DIED OUT AGAIN. I LEFT THE KEY IN THE ON TO MAKE SURE FUEL GOT TO THE INJECTORS. STARTED AGAIN VERY BRIEFLY SAME NOISE THEN IT NEVER STARTED AGAIN. TOWED IT HOME. LIFTED THE PLASTIC ENGINE COVER FOUND A LARGE HOLE AND THREE INNER ENGINE PARTS (ONE WAS A SPRING, POSSIBLE PARTS TO A ROD) THAT HAD BLOWN OUT OF THE HOLE. I KEEP MY CHARGER UP TO DATE WITH CARE AND MAINTENANCE. I HAD NO PERFORMANCE ISSUES OR WARNING LIGHTS PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THE SERVICE CENTER TOLD ME HE HAS NEVER HEARD OF SUCH THING, HE WASN'T A "TECH", AND WHOEVER DID MY LAST OIL CHANGE "PROBABLY DIDN'T DO IT RIGHT". *TR
WHEN ENTERING AN INTERSECTION AND DURING A LEFT TURN, THE ENGINE FAILED RENDERING THE POWER STEERING INOPERABLE AND REDUCING BRAKING ABILITY. EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS CONTROLLABLE ALTHOUGH WITH SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN REQUIRED FORCE. I ALMOST WENT OFF THE ROAD AS A RESULT OF THE PARTIAL LOSS OF CONTROL BUT MANAGED TO RECOVER. SOMEONE WITH LESS STRENGTH MAY NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RECOVER. IN THIS CASE, NON-RECOVERY WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN HITTING AN OVERPASS. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THIS DEFECT BUT HAS NOT CLASSIFIED IT AS A RECALL. IT IS CLASSIFIED AS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND REQUIRES THE DEALER TO ORDER A FUEL TANK AND REPLACE THE ONE IN THE VEHICLE. PARTS ARE NOW RESTRICTED AND I WAS ADVISED THAT THEY MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR MONTHS. THIS IS NOT A CONVENIENCE PROBLEM\, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE MAJOR INJURY OR DEATH. *TR
AFTER REFUELING AND IF I LEAVE THE PUMP, BUT NOT THE STATION, I EXPERIENCE BUCKING AND/OR STALLING AND LOSS OF STEERING AND BRAKES. THIS HAPPENS EVEN UP TO A COUPLE OF MILES OF DRIVING. MY CAR BUCKS VIOLENTLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND EVEN STALLS. IF I STOP AT A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT, IT STALLS. IT HAPPENS ON A SOFT OR HARD ACCELERATION. I TRIED THEM BOTH. IF I DO LEAVE THE STATION IMMEDIATELY, IT WILL THEN HAPPEN ON A CITY STREET, ROAD, EVEN ON THE INTERSTATE. IT HAPPENS AFTER EVERY FILL-UP, SO TRAVEL IS NOT ONLY UNNERVING, IT'S UNSAFE... LOSING STEERING OR BRAKES. THEY TOLD ME NOT TO TOP OFF AT THE GAS PUMP. I DON'T. IT HAPPENS ON THE FLAT, UP HILL, DOWN HILL, TURNING RIGHT OR LEFT, WARM WEATHER OR COLD WEATHER, HIGH OR LOW HUMIDITY, IT STILL HAPPENS. I WAS TOLD THAT IT IS ABOUT A $1500 FIX. IF I HAD $1500, I WOULDN'T BE DRIVING A 13 YEAR OLD CAR.
