I HAVE A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. IT STALLED 3 TIMES ON ME, TWICE ON THE ROAD AND ONCE IN THE DRIVE WAY. I CALLED DODGE AND THEY SAID IT SHOULD RUN IF THE GAS TANK IS NO FULL. I TOLD THEM IT WAS ON 3/4 TANK. I SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR JULY 7, 2014 AND MY HUSBAND WENT IN. THEY ORDERED THE PART, IT'S CALLED THE FUEL TANK MULTIFUNCTION CONTROL VALVE. ONE WEEK LATER DODGE OF ELK GROVE CALLED AND THEY WERE CANCELLING EVERYONE'S APPOINTMENT'S. I BEEN WITHOUT A CAR SENSE MAY 30, 2014. I'VE BEEN CONTACTING DODGE OF ELK GROVE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY CAN NOT GET THE PART. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE DEALERS ARE GETTING 1 PART EVERY 14 DAYS. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE IT MIGHT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT THAT I DON'T WANT TO BE IN CONTROL OF OR A PART OF. *TR
AFTER FILLING UP MY GAS TANK, I DROVE DOWN THE ROAD FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES. WHEN I STOPPED AT A LIGHT, THE CAR BEGAN RUNNING VERY SLUGGISH AND THEN STALLED. CHECK ENGINE AND OIL LIGHT POPPED ON. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE KEY TO OFF AND SAT AT THE RED LIGHT FOR A MINUTE. I TURNED THE KEY ON AND THE ENGINE STARTED BACK UP AND I WAS ABLE TO PUT INTO DRIVE AND PROCEED TO MY DESTINATION. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN SINCE HOWEVER I REALIZE THIS IS A GROWING AND COMMON PROBLEM WITH OTHER 2006 DODGE CHARGERS. *JS
CANNOT SHIFT FROM PARK HAVE TRIED SO MANY THINGS AND DOESN'T WORK. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS SO HOPEFULLY I DON'T HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. *TR
I FILLED UP WITH GAS, PULLED OUT OF THE GAS STATION ONTO THE EXPRESSWAY ON RAMP AND THE ENGINE DIED. I ROLLED TO THE SHOULDER AND AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES IT WOULD FINALLY START. IT STALLED A FEW MORE TIMES THEN FINALLY IT WOULD RUN LONG ENOUGH TO GET ME HOME. *TR
WHEN I FULLY FILL AND TOP OFF MY GAS TANK THE CAR STALLS AND SPUTTERS. I KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AS I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE COMPLAINING ONLINE. MY CAR IS A DODGE CHARGER RT 2006. THIS IS UNSAFE AND THERE SHOULD BE AN IMMEDIATE RECALL THE FIX THE VAPOR CANISTER AND THE GAS TANK. IT MIGHT BE EXPENSIVE BUT IF YOUR CAR IS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 60 MPH AND POWER STEERING FAILS WHEN YOU'RE DRIVING IT COULD BE FATAL. FIX THIS IMMEDIATELY. *TR
MY DODGE CHARGER WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. SOME (NOT ALL) CHARGERS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE. UPON SEARCHING ONLINE, IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER ADDRESSED SOME CUSTOMERS VIA CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION K39. IT STATES THAT "SOME 2005 THROUGH 2007 MODEL YEAR DODGE CHARGER, MAGNUM, AND CHRYSLER 300 EQUIPPED WITH A FLOOR SHIFTER" ARE AFFECTED. THE TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFT LEVEL INTERLOCK SPRING HOOK ON YOUR VEHICLE MAY BREAK. A BROKEN INTERLOCK RETURN SPRING HOOK WILL RESULT IN THE INABILITY TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER OUT OF THE PARK POSITION." THIS IS A SAFETY DEFECT BECAUSE IF THIS VEHICLE WAS TO STALL AND THE DRIVER PUT IT INTO PARK TO RESTART, THE VEHICLE WOULD BE UNABLE TO GO BACK INTO DRIVE. IT IS A PLASTIC PIECE THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BUT CHRYSLER IS CHARGING $375 BECAUSE THE ENTIRE SHIFT ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE TAKEN APART TO ADDRESS. IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT CHRYSLER HAS RECOGNIZED THIS DEFECT ON SOME CHARGERS BUT WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR ON MY VEHICLE FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. MY CAR IS THE SAME YEAR AS SOME OF THE CARS IMPACTED BY THE RECALL. *TR
MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHEN I PULLED INTO THE TURNING LANE. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I HAD NO CONTROL. ONCE AT A COMPLETE STOP, I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR NORMALLY AND EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME PREVIOUSLY BUT I WAS ACTUALLY DRIVING AT A HIGHER SPEED AND WITH MY CHILD INSIDE!!. APPARENTLY I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM AS I HAVE READ THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING TO MANY DODGE DRIVERS THAT HAD 2006 MODELS. *JS
2006 DODGE CHARGER STALLED DURING RUSH HOUR STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. VEHICLE TOTALLY SHUT DOWN. I PUT VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. A DEFINITE SAFETY CONCERN. *TR

MY CAR STARTED TO STALL AFTER I FILLED UP AT THE GAS STATION. I PULLED OUT OF THE GAS STATION AND AS I WAS APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT MY CAR STARTED JERKING AS IF WAS GOING TO SHUT OFF. *TR
2 MONTHS AGO I WAS LEAVING WORK AND GOT IN MY CAR TO GO HOME. MY CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. I HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALER AND WAS CHARGED 1500 TO REPAIR!! AFTER LEARNING OF ALL THE GO RECALLS, I'VE COME ACROSS MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT SOME CARS WERE RECALLED AND SOME NOT, FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE! HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE? I AM REQUESTING THIS ISSUE BE INVESTIGATED AND GO TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE! SOME ARE BEING TOLD IT WASN'T RECALLED DUE TO NOT BEING A SAFETY ISSUE??? HOW IS IT NOT A SAFETY ISSUE IF YOU CAN'T MOVE YOUR CAR? I COULD HAVE BEEN ANYWHERE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION WHERE I HAD TO LEAVE. FURTHERMORE, EVEN IF IT'S NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE, HOW IS THE CONSUMER TO BE HELD LIABLE FOR AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURER DEFECT?? PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER. *JS
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER RT. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL ON THE FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
I HAVE A 2006 DODGE CHARGE RT WITH 130000 MILES. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT STALLS WHEN DRIVING WITH NO WARNING, LOOSING AL POWER INCLUDING POWER STEERING. THIS IS GETTING VERY DANGEROUS FOR MY FAMILY.
AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS THE ENGINE STARTED MISS FIRING AS SOON AS I LEFT THE FORECOURT, A FEW SECONDS LATER THE CAR STALLED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, IT STARTED AGAIN BUT CONTINUED STALLING. AS I TRIED TO GET OUT OF THE TRAFFIC IT STALLED AGAIN HALF WAY ACROSS A BUSY INTERSECTION AND CAME VERY CLOSE TO HAVING AN ACCIDENT WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. EVENTUALLY IT BEGAN TO RUN OK AND I GOT HOME, WHEN I LOOKED ONLINE THERE IS A LARGE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS WITH THIS HAPPENING TO MANY OWNERS OF 2006 CHARGERS AND ALL WITH THE SAME STORY. THIS FAULT COULD RESULT IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND I WILL SPEAK WITH MY NEAREST CHRYSLER DEALER. *TR
I HAVE HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY CAR STALLING AND IT SEEMS THERE ARE MANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THE FACT THAT THIS IS NOT BEING LOOKED AT AS A SAFETY CONCERN IS BEYOND ME. JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T REACH 90MPH WHEN IT STALLS DOES NOT MEAN ACCIDENTS WILL NOT OCCUR. IF I AM TURNING INTO A STREET AND TRAFFIC IS COMING IN MY DIRECTION AND I STALL SHOULD I JUST "RESTART" MY VEHICLE IN HOPES THAT SOMEONE DOESN'T T-BONE ME? SOUNDS LIKE A BAD PLOT TO THE START OF A MOVIE. JUST DO THE RIGHT THING HERE AND FIX THIS WORLD WIDE ISSUE AND LET US MOVE ON WITH OUR MUSCULAR CARS! *TR
MY CAR WILL STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING OR SITTING. I HAVE TRIED TO RESEARCH WHAT THE PROBLEM, OTHERS INDICATED A FUEL PURGE VALVE. MY CARS RUNS FINE OTHER WISE BUT THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPEN. *TR
WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, AFTER HAVING JUST LEFT A GAS STATION AND FILLING THE GAS TANK, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES NOW AT SLOW SPEEDS AS WELL. DOES NOT OCCUR EVERY TIME, BUT DOES OCCUR OFTEN AND ALWAYS WITHIN MINUTES OF REFUELING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT FROM PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 109,119.
RIGHT AFTER LEAVING THE GAS STATION FROM FILLING UP MY CARS' GAS TANK MY ENGINE STALLED WHEN I CAME TO A STOP ON A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. I WAS ABLE TO START IT AGAIN BUT IT TURNED OFF ON ME AGAIN, REPEATED THE PROCESS TWICE UNTIL THE LIGHT CHANGED AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME. DROVE AROUND MY NEIGHBORHOOD MAKING MULTIPLE STOPS TO SEE IT IF HAPPENED AGAIN IN WHICH THE ENGINE ONLY TURNED OFF ONCE MORE. *TR
MY VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES AFTER FILLING THE TANK. I THEN TOOK IT TO MY DEALER TO HAVE IT INVESTIGATED. IN REVIEWING THE NHTSA WEBSITE, I FOUND THAT THIS HAS BEEN ALREADY BEEN INVESTIGATED AND CHRYSLER AGREED TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON "CERTAIN" HEMI VEHICLES WITH A 19 GALLON FUEL TANK. INVESTIGATION PE 13-016. UPON SHARING THIS INFORMATION WITH MY DEALER (DODGE OF NAPERVILLE), THEY INDICATED THAT MY 2006 DODGE CHARGER WITH A HEMI AND 19 GALLON TANK WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL AND I WOULD NEED TO PAY $1700 TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED. THEY SAID IF IT WAS RECALLED AT A LATER DATE, I COULD APPLY FOR REIMBURSEMENT. *TR
THE ENGINE DIED JUST AFTER FUEL FILL-UP WHEN I WAS LEAVING THE LOT AND GETTING ONTO THE STREET. WHILE FILLING THE TANK, THE PUMP STOPPED AS IF THE TANK WAS FULL, BUT WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR AFTER FILL-UP, THE GAS GAUGE READ ONLY 3/4 FULL. WHEN THE ENGINE DIED, THERE WAS TRAFFIC BEHIND ME AND TRAFFIC AHEAD. I COULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT OR CAUSED ONE. I SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL, AND COASTED AND RE-STARTED THE CAR. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. IT IS DANGEROUS FOR ME, FOR MY FAMILY, FOR MY WIFE WHEN SHE IS DRIVING, AS WELL AS THE MOTORISTS AROUND ME. *TR
ALL OF THE LIGHTS LIGHT UP AND THE NEEDLES MOVE UP/DOWN ON THE DASHBOARD INTERMITTENTLY FOR LIKE 3-4 SECONDS AND NORMALLY DOES THIS TWICE CONSECUTIVELY AND THIS APPEARS TO HAPPEN RANDOMLY. *TR
AFTER REFUELING, THE CAR STALLS AT SPEED. THIS PRETTY MUCH NOW HAPPENS AFTER EVERY FILL UP. THE CAR ALWAYS RESTARTS, BUT USUALLY HAPPENS 2-4 TIMES AFTER INITIALLY REFUELING. THE DANGER IS, IT SOMETIMES HAPPENS AT SPEED, THE CAR QUICKLY DECELERATES IN TRAFFIC MAKING IT DANGEROUS. MANY TIMES WE HAVE HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD IN TRAFFIC TO RESTART. *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL UP THE CAR DIES FOR ABOUT 5-10 MILES EVERY TIME I COME TO A STOP. IT LOOKS LIKE THE ROLL OVER VALVE IS FAULTY IN THE TANK. I HAVE HEARD RUMORS THAT THIS IS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD ITEM. IS THAT CORRECT? *TT
2006 DODGE CHARGER R/T THIRD OCCURRENCE AFTER FILLING CAR UP IT STALLED AND COULD NOT START ON FIRST ATTEMPT. EACH TIME FILLING UP I DROVE MAYBE 100 YARDS AND THE CAR STALLS WITH NO WARNING. THEN GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH 200 MILES TO DRIVE GUESSING IF GOING TO STALL WITH A FAMILY OF FOUR IN THE CAR NOT GOOD. I CALLED THE DEALER THEY NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM AND I SHOULD BRING IT IN AND IT COULD BE SEVERAL DIFFERENT THINGS WITH A DIAGNOSTIC FEE $145.00. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND WAS ASTOUNDED HOW MANY CAR OWNERS WITH SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY LARGE SAFETY ISSUE AND MY DEALER WITH MY VIN STATED THERE ARE NO RECALLS WITH YOUR PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE FATALITIES TO FIX THE PROBLEMS DODGE KNOWS ABOUT !! THEY NEED TO RECALL IS JUSTIFIED. I JUST KNOW THE DEALERS WON'T FIX IT FOR FREE. FRUSTRATED DODGE OWNER !! *TT
I FEEL THAT CHRYSLER IS NOT HONORING THE AGREEMENT OF EXTENDING THE WARRANTY ON THE FUEL TANKS AS STATED. ITS BEEN MONTHS AND CHRYSLER EITHER ISN'T GOING TO WARRANTY THE TANKS OR THEY ARE BEING VERY SELECTIVE ON WHICH TANKS THEY CONSIDER DEFECTIVE. MY VIN IS NOT SHOWING BEING COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH IT MEETS ALL THE QUALIFICATIONS. THIS IS THE MESSAGE I RECEIVED FROM THE LOCAL DODGE/CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP REGARDING MY FUEL TANK ISSUE ON APRIL 10, 2014: IN CHECKING ON CHRYSLER'S WEBSITE, THERE IS NO LISTED EXTENDED COVERAGE REGARDING YOUR FUEL TANK PERTAINING TO YOUR PARTICULAR VEHICLE AT THIS TIME. RECALL'S ARE VIN SPECIFIC AND AFTER CHECKING YOURS ON CHRYSLERS WEBSITE IT DOES NOT SHOW ANY EXTENDED LIFETIME COVERAGE REGARDING YOUR VEHICLE IN PARTICULAR. I WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK AND I WAS GOING BETWEEN 50 TO 55 MPH ON THE BAY BRIDGE AND I FELT THE CAR SHAKE AND THEN STARTED MAKING A RADDLEING KIND OF NOISE LIKE IT WAS OVER HEATING THE TEMPUTER GAGE SHOOT UP AND THEN A NOISE LIKE THE AIR LET OUT OF A TIRE AND THEN MY CAR STARTED SMOKING AND THEN IT CUT OFF AND NOT START UP AGAIN AND WHEN IT DID START IT WOULD CUT RITE OFF AND THIS WAS THE 2ND ENGINE AND IT DID THE SAME THING BEFORE AND THE ENGINE IS STILL UNDER WARRTY. I ONLY HAD THIS 2ND ENGINE 2 YRS AND 5 MO. AND NOW I NEED A NEW ENGINE AND IVE BEEN ONLINE AND SEEING OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THEIR 2006 DODGE CHARGER HEMI MOTORS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED AS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT AND RESUMED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVEN SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO GET DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
IT IS HARD STARTING AND WILL STALL ANYWHERE BETWEEN 0 TO 45 MPH. WHEN IT STARTS ROUGH IT WILL NOT GO FORWARD OR REVERSE WITHOUT STALLING. IT SEEMS TO BE WORSE AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK. WHEN THE CAR STALLS IT DOES SO WITH NO WARNING AND CAN LEAVE YOU WITH NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES. IT DID IT OFF AND ON AT FIRST BUT NOW DOES ALMOST EVERY TIME I RUN IT. I TOOK IT TO A DODGE DEALER AND GAVE HIM A COPY OF THE LIFETIME WARRANTY GAS TANK PROBLEM AND TOLD HIM OF THE SYMPTOMS OF THE CAR. HE IGNORED ME AND DID 4 FLASHES ON THE CAR PLUS $110 OF "CLEANUP" WORK ON THE CAR AND TOLD ME IT WAS FIXED. ON THE WAY HOME IT STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND SHE HAD NO STEERING. THE DEALER PAPERWORK SAID THEY PULLED UP 4 CODES ON THE CAR'S COMPUTER, WHICH I GOT NONE OF WHEN I RAN MY CODE READER ON IT BEFORE TAKING IT TO THEM. ONE OF THE REPORTED CODES DOES NOT EVEN SHOW ON THE CHART AND ANOTHER ONE WAS A "C" CODE FOR A CHASSE PROBLEM. UPON GETTING THE CAR HOME, AFTER STALLING SEVERAL TIMES ON THE WAY HOME, I CALLED THE BANK AND STOPPED THE PAYMENT FOR THE WORK THEY SAY THEY DID. I HAVE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM (FARTHER AWAY) BUT HOW DO I GET THEM TO DO THE REPAIR I WANT, NOT WHAT THEY FEEL LIKE DOING? THANKS. *TR
SINCE 4-7-14 THRU 7-16-14 THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED TWO FUEL TANKS ( ACCORDING TO EXTENDED LIFETIME COVERAGE LETTER DATED MAY 8,2014), O2 SENSOR, TRANSMISSION MODULE,SPARK PLUGS, IGNITION COILS AND DISCONNECTED THE REMOTE STARTER. THE CAR CONTINUES TO STALL AND SHUTOFF. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY, CAR DIED. WAS ABLE TO START IT BACK UP AGAIN. GAS TANK ONLY 1/8 FULL. GOT OFF FREEWAY. CAR CONTINUED TO JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREETS, LEAVING ME STUCK IN THE INTERSECTION SEVERAL TIMES. *TR
I HAD JUST FINISH FILLING UP MY CAR WITH GASOLINE AND WAS DRIVING THROUGH THE SUB DIVISION. MY CAR SHUT OFF AT THE STOP SIGN. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASION IN THE PAST YEAR AFTER FILLING UP MY CAR. ON THIS DAY I STEP ON THE GAS TRIED RESTARTING MY CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP I WAS TOOK THAT MY ENGINE THROUGH A PISTON ON THE NUMBER 3 AND 5 AND I NEED A NEW ENGINE. NO ONE WAS ABLE TO TELL ME WHY THAT WOULD HAPPEN. WHEN I EXPLAIN WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM I WAS TOLD THAT MAY BECAUSE THE CAR WAS RUNNING AND IT WAS NOT GETTING FUEL AND IT THROUGH THE PISTONS. *TR
HAD MY VEHICLE IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. I HAVE BEEN NOTICING CLUNKING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL AND SHAKING PROBLEMS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. DEALER INSPECTED CAR AND FOUND LEFT AND RIGHT BALL JOINTS CRACKED AND BROKEN POWER STEERING LINE, ALONG WITH A BROKEN TIE ROD ON THE LEFT SIDE. I FIND THIS VERY DIFFICULT TO DIGEST AS THE CAR DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 25,000 MILES ON IT, IT IS NEVER DRIVEN IN SNOW, AND IS CONSTANTLY IN MY GARAGE. THIS CAR IS DRIVEN ON AVERAGE OF 4,000 MILES A YEAR, AND MAINLY ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN IT IS DRIVEN. NOW I AM FACING A 1500.00 REPAIR BILL TO REPLACE THESE PARTS. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND OTHERS HAVE NEEDED TO DO THIS SAME REPAIR NUMEROUS TIMES ON THEIR VEHICLES AS WELL. I THINK CHRYSLER SHOULD STEP FORWARD AND ADMIT THAT THESE PARTS ARE DEFECTIVE. THERE AREN'T EVEN ANY LUBRICATION ZERKS TO HELP PREVENT FUTURE ISSUES WITH THIS. NOW THAT SPRING IS HERE I WANTED TO GET THE CAR READY FOR SUMMER, NOW WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE IT UNTIL IT GETS FIXED, BUT ACCORDING TO WHAT I HAVE FOUND, I CAN EXPECT TO HAVE THIS DONE AGAIN IN ANOTHER 25,000 MILES. VEHICLE IS STALLING AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS. OCCURS WHEN IDLING (SUCH AS AT A STOPLIGHT) OR WHEN DECELERATING AT WHICH IT ALSO LOSES THE POWER STEERING. HIGHLY CONCERNED THIS WILL OCCUR IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION. CAN RESTART THE CAR USUALLY AFTER TWO ATTEMPTS. MAY GO TO THE NEXT LIGHT/STOP AND SAME INCIDENT WILL REPEAT ITSELF. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR A FEW MILES... (PRESUMABLY AS THE FUEL LEVEL GOES DOWN)... CAR BEHAVES AS NORMAL - WITHOUT ISSUE. SYMPTOMS ARE VERY MUCH LIKE A BAD TANK OF GAS. TOOK CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. DEALER RAN DIAGNOSTIC CHECKS AND NO ISSUES ARE REPORTED. DODGE REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING UNTIL DEALER CAN DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AFTER WORK MY VEHICLE STALLED OUT AND I LOST CONTROL. I HAD TO STRONG ARM THE STEERING WHEEL TO GET THE VEHICLE TO VEER ONTO THE EMERGENCY SHOULDER LANE. VEHICLES BEHIND ME SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES AND HONKED THEIR HORNS TRYING TO AVOID HITTING MY VEHICLE. PRIOR TO THE EVENT I FILLED MY GAS TANK. AFTER GIVING THE VEHICLE A FEW MINUTES I TRIED TO TURN THE IGNITION. AFTER SEVERAL TRIES THE VEHICLE STARTED. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE OVER 35 MPH AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND STALLED THE ENTIRE RIDE HOME. THAT WAS 3 WEEKS AGO AND THE ISSUE HAS WORSENED. MY VEHICLE IS STALLING IN MID-SECTIONS. IT'S SHAKING AND ALONG WITH THE FUEL LIGHT THE ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY DINGS. MY CODE READS ENGINE MISFIRING AND FUEL VALVE FAILURES. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO PINPOINT THE ISSUE AND TOLD ME TO RESEARCH THE ISSUE UNDER NHTSA.ORG. MY 2006 DODGE CHARGER WAS PURCHASED USED IN DEC 2013. SINCE THEN IT HAS OCCASIONALLY LOST POWER WHEN DRIVING.. BUT AFTER A FEW SECONDS RESTORED TO NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS. MONDAY 3/10/14, WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH ON HIGHWAY 251 IN ROCKFORD IT BEGAN LOOSING POWER AND STALLED COMPLETELY.. I BARELY HAD TIME TO GET TO THE RIGHT HAND LANE CURB. IT WAS A BUSY TRAFFIC SITUATION, AND I HAD STALLED JUST BEFORE CONSTRUCTION ZONE WHERE TRAFFIC WAS MERGING TO ONE LANE. AS I SAT AGAINST THE CURB A CAR WAS FORCED OVER STRIKING MY MIRROR OFF MY CAR... IT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. NOT AN EXAGGERATION, I FELT MY LIFE WAS GREATLY JEOPARDIZED. 2006 DODGE CHARGER THIS HAPPENED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. AFTER A FILL UP AT A GAS STATION, THE CAR WOULD STALL OUT, USUALLY WHEN JUST LEAVING THE GAS STATION. ALL THREE OCCASIONS, THE STALL OUT WAS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD TURNING ON TO. LUCKILY, EVERYONE WAS PAYING ATTENTION AND NO WRECK ENSUED. ACCORDING TO DODGE, THE PROBLEM IS SOME KIND OF GAS VALVE FAILED CAUSING THE CAR TO STALL. UNFORTUNATELY, DODGE SAID THE VALVE COULD NOT BE REPLACED. THE WHOLE GAS TANK HAD TO BE REPLACED. COST OF APPROXIMATELY $2500. SAFETY PROBLEMS AS I SEE IT: 1. VALVE SHOULD NOT FAIL AND CAUSE A STALL OUT. DANGER OF SERIOUS CRASH. 2. DESIGN IS DEFICIENT THAT YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE GAS TANK OUT AND PUT A NEW ONE IN TO FIX A DEFECTIVE VALVE. MILEAGE IS AN ESTIMATE FOR THE TIME OF THE LAST INCIDENT. *TR

BY THE TIME I GOT TO THE DEALER THE LIGHTS WENT OFF AND I SHARED THE OTHER DIAGNOSTIC WITH THEM BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT WAS REALLY WRONG. IT STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN MONTHS LATER AND I TOOK IT TO YET ANOTHER MECHANIC. THIS MECHANIC 'RESET THE COMPUTER" AND MADE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS TURN OFF. IT STOPPED FOR A TIME BUT THE PROBLEM CAME BACK. THIS TIME (140,000 MILES) THE ENGINE SHUT OFF ON THE HIGHWAY! I WAS SLIGHTLY TAPPED ON THE REAR BY THE DRIVER BEHIND ME. ANOTHER TIME A SEMI TRUCK WAS BEHIND ME AND I STALLED. LUCKILY WE WERE IN SLOW MOVING TRAFFIC. AGAIN AT HIGH SPEEDS THE ENGINE WOULD TURN BACK ON BUT THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY BABY IN THIS VEHICLE. THERE ARE A TON OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON DODGE FORUMS WITH THESE VEHICLES. DODGE NEEDS TO FIX THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR DIES!!!
LIKE A NUMBER OF OTHERS IN THE DATABASE WE HAD JUST FILLED THE GAS TANK AND DRIVEN A FEW MILES. AFTER STOPPING FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT WE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AFTER THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. WE JUST CLEARED THE INTERSECTION WHEN THE CAR BUCKED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE ENGINE DIED. WE PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ATTEMPTED TO START THE CAR. AFTER SEVERAL TRIES THE CAR STARTED UP, IDLED OK, AND WE PROCEEDED ON. THE NEXT TIME WE FILLED UP THE CAR THE SAME THING HAPPENED. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET WE FOUND THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM AS LIQUID GAS GETTING INTO THE FUEL VENT LINE WHEN THE GAS TANK WAS FILLED. WE SUBSEQUENTLY GOT GAS TWICE WITHOUT TOTALLY FILLING THE TANK AND HAD NO PROBLEMS. THE INTERNET SITE WE FOUND INDICATED THAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE EITHER THE PURGE SOLENOID VALVE OR A VALVE INTEGRAL TO THE GAS TANK. SINCE THE PURGE SOLENOID VALVE WAS THE CHEAPER FIX WE TRIED THAT FIRST. THAT FIX WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL AS THE CAR STALLED AFTER BEING FILLED UP. WE REPLACED THE GAS TANK YESTERDAY, FILLED THE GAS TANK, AND HAD NO STALLING OR HESITATION. SO, IT APPEARS THAT THE PROBLEM IS FIXED. HOWEVER, I COULD ENVISION A NUMBER OF SITUATIONS WHERE ONE COULD BE IN A LIFE-THREATENING SITUATION IF THE CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION OR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE. SINCE THIS APPEARS TO BE A WELL-KNOWN PROBLEM I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE DEALER WAS UNCERTAIN OF WHEN THE PART WAS TO BECOME AVAILABLE AND WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE UNDER THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THE PART WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR APPROXIMATELY ANOTHER 5-6 MONTHS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.

I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS CHARGER OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. I STOOPED FILLING UP AND ONLY FILL TO ABOUT 3/4 FULL AND I HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED THE ISSUE AGAIN. TODAY I CAME ACROSS A REPORT ON THE WARRANTY EXTENSION CONCERNING THIS ISSUE (PE13-016). I CALLED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE WARRANTY EXTENSION. I AM HIGHLY UPSET AND ANNOYED BY THIS TOTAL LACK OF REGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE! *TT
