TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER XT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD STALL SPORADICALLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED. THE CONTACT INQUIRED ABOUT A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE13016 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) HOWEVER, THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ONLY COVERED THE VEHICLE FOR UP TO 100,000 MILES AND THE CONTACT HAD EXCEEDED THE MILEAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.
WHEN TEMPS. WERE COLD LESS THAN 25 DEGRESS THE ACCELERATOR WOULD WOULD STICK AT 4,000 RPM. I COULD PUT MY FOOT UNDER THE GAS PEDAL AND LIFT IT UP TO A NORMAL IDLE. THE THROTTLE IS ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED. HERE IN MICHIGAN WITH MORE THAN 90" OF SNOW THIS SEASON AN ACCIDENT WAS WAITING TO HAPPEN, VERY UNSAFE. I TOLD THE DEALER WHAT WAS WRONG AND I EXPECTED A REPAIR $495.00 PARTS AND LABOR. I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE 4 DAYS OF CONVERSATION GOT ME NOWHERE. I PAID A $99.50 FOR DIAGNOSES AND TOOK IT ELSEWHERE. THE GAS PEDAL ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. APON A UNDER HOOD INSPECTION THE CONNECTOR THAT PLUGGED IN THE FRONT OF THE AIR ITAKE WAS REMOVED, THROTTLE PLATE ACTUATOR. WHEN I DROVE IT IN I COULD ACCELERATE, MY 6 MILE RIDE HOME HAD A TOP SPEED OF 20 MPH AND 2 DASH LITES WERE ON. I WENT TO KEVIN [SERVICE WRITE UP] AND HE JUST BLAMED IT ON THE GAS PEDAL ASSEMBLY...WRONG. THE GAS PEDAL ASSEMBLY HAS NO SIGN OF DAMAGE, RUST OR ANYTHING TO CAUSE THIS PROBLEM.
REFILLED WITH FUEL AND AS I WAS PULLING OUT ON TO THE STREET THE CAR STALLED. I RESTARTED AND BEGAN TO DRIVE. IT STALLED A 2ND TIME. AFTER I GOT IT STARTED AGAIN IT SEEMED OK. EVERY SINCE THEN, EVERY TIME I FILL UP IT STALLS OUT. I HAVE TO SIT IN THE GAS STATION LOT AND LET IT RUN UNTIL IT STALLS OUT. I AFRAID TO DRIVE ON THE STREET AS I MIGHT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. AFTER IT STALLS OUT A COUPLE OF TIME IN THE GAS STATION LOT, IT DOESN'T DO IT AGAIN UNTIL I FILL UP AGAIN. *TR
TYPICAL PROBLEM RELATED BY MANY AFTER REFUELING THE ENGINE DIES AND THUS, FOR OVER A YEAR NOW, I NEVER FILL TO MORE THAN 16 GALLONS. BUT, IF ONE TURNS LEFT WITH FUEL LEVEL AROUND 16 GALLONS, THE ENGINE QUICKLY DIES LEAVING THE VEHICLE VULNERABLE IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION WITHOUT STEERING OR BRAKES. LEFT HAND TURNS NOW HAVE TO BE MADE AT A VERY SLOW SPEED AFTER REFUELING WHICH CAN ALSO CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS IS CLEARLY A RECALL ISSUE AND CHRYSLER NEEDS TO OWN UP TO THIS SORRY ISSUE WITH A PRESTIGIOUS AUTOMOBILE. *TR
DRIVING AT 65 MPH ON THE FREEWAY, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHUDDER/ HESITATE, THERE WAS SO MUCH WHITE SMOKE FROM MY VEHICLE THAT I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING BEHIND ME IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE LOADED ONTO A FLAT BED TOW TRUCK. THE NUMBER 3 VALVE SEAT HAD DROPPED OUT AND SMASHED HOLES IN THE PISTON, THE DEBRIS HAD PUMMELED THE CYLINDER HEAD. THE DEBRIS HAD THEN BEEN SUCKED BACK INTO THE INLET MANIFOLD, THE DEBRIS WAS DEPOSITED INTO NUMBER 1 AND 2 CYLINDERS PUMMELING THE HEAD OF THE PISTONS AND CYLINDER HEADS. THERE WERE ACTUALLY SHARDS OF METAL EMBEDDED IN THE CYLINDER HEAD. THE VEHICLE IS NEXT TO WORTHLESS AT THIS TIME. THE VEHICLE IS A LIMITED ADDITION DAYTONA AND COST ABOUT $35K NEW. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH DODGE FOR MORE THAN A YEAR AS THIS IS A DESIGN FAULT AND APPEARS TO BE QUITE COMMON. DODGE REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I SPOKE TO AN EXECUTIVE OF DODGE WITH THE TITLE OF HEAD OF TOP CARE CUSTOMER CARE FOR FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES ON 4/9/2015, HER STATEMENT "YOU SHOULD NOT EXPECT MUCH MORE THAN 100,000 MILES FROM ANY VEHICLE". REALLY WANTS YOU TO GO AND BUY A CHRYSLER PRODUCT, I HAVE OWNED 5 OF THEIR VEHICLES IN 15 YEARS, NEVER AGAIN. *TR
MY CAR STALLS AFTER EVERY FILL UP FOR FUEL. I LATER DISCOVERED THIS WAS A COMMON COMPLAINT CAUSING RANDOM FIRES AS WELL AS REAR END COLLISIONS FROM STALLING ONTO FREEWAYS . I PAID $40K FOR THIS VEHICLE. MANUFACTURER NOR EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERS THIS COSTLY AND DANGEROUS DEFECT. I WOULD LIKE FOR THIS PROBLEM TO BE RECTIFIED BY A MANUFACTURES' RECALL OR CONSUMER REIMBURSEMENT. VEHICLE STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE COMING TO A STOP. HARD TO START AFTER STALLING. JUST FILLED THE GAS TANK, AND CAR STALLED TWO OR THREE TIMES GETTING FROM THE GAS STATION TO HOME. CAR STALLED THE NEXT MORNING THREE TIMES, AGAIN HARD TO START. *TR
CONTINUES TO STALL AFTER GAS FILL-UP IN TRAFFIC CAUSING OTHER CARS TO DODGE TO RIGHT OF LEFT TO AVOID COLLUSION. MAKES FOR DANGEROUS DRIVING AFTER FILL-UP. APPARENTLY MANY OTHER CHARGER OWNERS ARE HAVING THE PROBLEM AT AN INCREASING RATE. THIS IS SOMETHING CHRYSLER SHOULD LOOK INTO BEFORE PEOPLE GET INJURED OR WORSE! THE CAR STALLED A NUMBER OF TIMES IN TRAFFIC. I HAD JUST FILLED THE TANK. *TR
AFTER FUELING MY VEHICLE, I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH AROUND A CORNER AND THE VEHICLE STALLED AND DIED. ONCE THE ENGINE DIED, I WAS UNABLE TO STEER AND HAD TO HARD BREAK TO AVOID GOING INTO THE OTHER LANE OF TRAFFIC AND NARROWLY AVOIDED MISSING THE ONCOMING VEHICLE IN THE OTHER LANE. ONCE I WAS STOPPED I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, IT CONTINUED TO STALL THREE MORE TIMES WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE. I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, ON A CORNER WITH LITTLE VISIBILITY. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE ON THE FOURTH ATTEMPT. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE A COUPLE MILES TILL I STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE VEHICLE STALLED AND DIED AGAIN RIGHT AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. I AGAIN HAD TO RESTART THE VEHICLE THREE TIMES BEFORE IT WOULD STAY RUNNING. THERE WERE MULTIPLE VEHICLES BEHIND ME AT THE LIGHT, THANKFULLY THEY HAD COME TO A STOP BEFORE I STALLED. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE PAST, BUT IT IS GETTING WORSE AND I NO LONGER FEEL IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE COST FOR THIS REPAIR IS OVER $2,000 AND THERE IS NO MANUFACTURERS RECALL AT THIS POINT. IT IS MY OPINION THAT THIS IS NOT A WEAR ITEM, IT IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THIS IS MY FAMILY CAR, AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN AS THERE IS A GREAT RISK TO THEIR SAFETY. *TR
THE PROBLEM STARTED BACK IN DECEMBER OF 2013 AT 77,000 MILES. WHEN I FILL UP AT THE GAS STATION (I NEVER TOP OF) THE CAR STALLS AND SHUTS OFF. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL UP. I PULL OUT OF THE GAS STATION AND IT SHUTS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. DEALER CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. IT'S VERY FRUSTRATING. MY MAIN CONCERN IS SAFETY AND THE REPEATED SERVICE VISITS AND COST. THE LAST TIME WAS SCARY BECAUSE IT SHUT OFF AT A RED LIGHT. WHEN I STARTED UP THE CAR AGAIN IT SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I MANAGED TO GET HOME BUT THE CAR SHUT OFF SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE DRIVE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL AFTER REFUELING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE FUEL TANK VALVE WAS DAMAGED AND THE FUEL TANK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. ON 12-14-2013, I FILLED UP THE GAS TANK. I PULLED OUT OF THE GAS STATION AND INTO TRAFFIC AND STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. WHILE AT THE RED LIGHT, VEHICLE STALLED AND OIL LIGHT CAME ON. TURNED THE CORNER AT THE RED LIGHT AND GOT INTO MY PARENTS SUBDIVISION AND VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. GOT THE VEHICLE STARTED AND PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY. ON 12-15-2013, VEHICLE STALLED CLOSE TO PARENTS DRIVEWAY. ATTEMPTED TO RESTART. VEHICLE WOULD NOT START ON FIRST ATTEMPT AND ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT, I HAD TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR TO START THE VEHICLE. GOT IT STARTED AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN THE DRIVEWAY. NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM RIGHT AWAY AND I ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT THE ROLLOVER (VENT) VALVE IN THE GAS TANK. THEY CHECKED THE ROLLOVER (VENT) VALVE AND FOUND THAT IT WAS THE PROBLEM. GOT IT REPAIRED AND THE FINAL COST WAS $1446.47. *TR

VEHICLE BEGAN TO MISFIRE AND THEN STALLED APPROXIMATELY 1/4 MILE AFTER FILLING FUEL TANK. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND IS OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE SINCE VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND CONTINUE TO DESTINATION. ONLINE FORUMS ATTRIBUTE THE CAUSE TO A FAULTY VAPOR PURGE VALVE/EVAP CANISTER AND REQUIRES FUEL TANK REPLACEMENT. *TR
VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY STREET WHILE DRIVING DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. LUCKILY NO ONE HIT ME (ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAD MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR). I HAD JUST FILLED UP THE GAS TANK (DID NOT OVERFILL--GAS IS WAY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR THAT). HAD IT TOWED AND THE DEALER HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK, O-RING UNIT, VAPOR CANISTER, SOLENOID-PROPORTIONAL PURGE AND SOME MISC. PINS ETC. COST ME $1900.00 OUT OF MY POCKET WITH THE DEALER GIVING ME A 10% SERVICE DISCOUNT. THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT WITH THE VAPOR CANISTER FAILING, IF YOU WERE IN A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT THE CAR MOST LIKELY WOULD CATCH FIRE WHICH WOULD DEFINITELY DECREASE YOUR CHANCES OF SURVIVING. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN FOR ANYONE THAT IS DRIVING OR RIDING IN THE VEHICLE EVEN IF IT ONLY SHUTS OFF. YOU CAN NOT BRAKE OR STEER WHEN THE CAR SHUTS OFF SO GETTING OUT OF HARMS WAY IS A CHALLENGE WITHOUT GETTING HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. I SEE THAT THERE ARE A HUGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND IT NEEDS TO BE PUT OUT AS A SERVICE RECALL. NOT AN ALERT OR BULLETIN BUT AN ACTUAL RECALL. I GUESS WHEN PEOPLE START LOSING THEIR LIVES AND THE LIVES OF THEIR LOVED ONES THAT ARE PASSENGERS THEN MAYBE DODGE WILL DO THE RIGHT THING. I SEE THAT THERE IS SOME INFO OUT THERE THAT DODGE WAS EXTENDING THE WARRANTY ON THE FUEL TANK/SYSTEM AND LETTERS WERE TO BE SENT TO THE CAR OWNERS. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANYTHING I HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED. DODGE USED TO HAVE "SAFETY FIRST" ON THEIR WEBSITE. ODD, I DON'T SEE THAT ANYMORE. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 08V583000 (POWER TRAIN). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
CAR STALLED AT STOP LIGHT. TOOK A FEW TRIES TO GET STARTED AGAIN. THIS HAPPENS AFTER REFUELING THE CAR. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED, I AM IRRITATED THAT IT KEEPS HAPPENING. *TR
FUELED THE CAR, CAR STALLED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING. HAPPENS EACH TIME CAR IS FUELED. I HAVE TRIED FUELING SLOWLY, AND FUELING SMALL AMOUNTS, NOTHING WORKS. CAR WILL STALL 2-3 TIMES EITHER WHILE SITTING OR WHILE DRIVING. *TR
AFTER FUELING THE VEHICLE I DROVE ABOUT 1/4 MILE RELEASED THE GAS PEDAL TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AT A CONTROLLED INTER SECTION, THE MOTOR DIED DURING THE TURN. THE CAR DID NOT RESTART EASILY. THE CAR DIED 3 MORE TIMES IN ROUTE TO MY HOME WHICH WAS LESS THAN A MILE FURTHER. THIS HAS HAPPENED THE LAST 5 OR MORE TIMES I HAVE FILLED THE GAS TANK. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE NEW AND I AM THE SOLE DRIVER. I AM AFRAID THIS MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IN THE FUTURE IF NOT REMEDIED. YESTERDAY I SPOKE TO MY LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CAR IS SERVICED, I WAS INFORMED THE FIX FOR THIS IS REPLACING THE FUEL TANK DUE TO A DEFECTIVE PART INSIDE OF THE TANK WHICH IS NOT SERVICEABLE. I THAN CALL THE DODGE CORP. CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER WERE THEIR AGENT READ A PREPARED STATEMENT REGARDING THE EXPIRED WARRANTY. I FEEL THIS IS A DESIGN PROBLEM WHICH COULD LEAD TO A DANGEROUS SITUATION AS IT BECOMES INCREASINGLY WORSE. THANK YOU FOR THIS FORUM. *TR
FILLED UP FUEL TANK ON 11/28/13 AND ON 12/1/13 AND ABOUT 200 FEET AFTER EXITING GAS STATION THE CAR STALLED, I RESTARTED THE CAR AND IT DROVE ANOTHER FEW HUNDRED FEET AND IT STALLED A COUPLE MORE TIMES. AFTER READING SOME ARTICLE I FOUND THIS HAS BECOME A COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS CAR. I FEEL IT SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL DUE TO THE CAR STALLING SECONDS AFTER PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC RISKING GETTING REAR ENDED OR T BONED. *TR
AFTER FUELING CAR, THE ENGINE STALLED. LUCKILY I HAD NOT PULLED INTO TRAFFIC YET. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER A COUPLE OF ATTEMPTS AND DRIVE BACK INTO THE PARKING LOT. THE ENGINE STALLED AGAIN. AFTER THAT, THE CAR WOULDN'T START. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST DODGE DEALERSHIP. BECAUSE IT WAS THANKSGIVING, AND EVERYTHING WAS CLOSED, I HAD TO DELAY MY TRIP A DAY BEFORE CONTINUING ON TO MY DESTINATION. THE NEXT DAY THE DEALERSHIP CALLED AND SAID IT WAS RUNNING FINE AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I HAD NO FURTHER PROBLEMS UNTIL SUNDAY ON MY WAY HOME. I STOPPED TO FILL UP THE TANK AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME I DIDN'T LEAVE THE GAS STATION IN FEAR THAT IT MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR STARTED AND KEEP IT IDLING FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE IN TRAFFIC. THIS PROCESS TOOK ABOUT 2 HOURS. I CONTINUE TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WHEN FILLING THE TANK WITH GAS. I AM UNABLE TO TRAVEL OUT OF TOWN BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO GET STRANDED AGAIN AND OR WORSE, CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND INJURE SOMEONE. THE ONLY TIP I CAN OFFER THAT HAS HELPED WITH THIS ISSUE IS TO KEEP THE ENGINE RUNNING WHILE FUELING. I KNOW THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED, BUT IT HAS HELPED PREVENT THE ENGINE FROM STALLING AFTER FUELING AND CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. *TR
WHILE NAVIGATING A PARKING LOT (APPROX. 5 MPH) MINUTES AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK, THE ENGINE DIED. THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON, THE RPM GAUGE DROPPED TO ZERO AND THE STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. WE WERE ABLE TO SHIFT INTO PARK AND START THE CAR FAIRLY EASILY, BUT THE ENGINE TURNED OVER FOR SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE STARTING. THE ENGINE STALLED TWICE MORE WHEN LEAVING THE SAME PARKING LOT AND HAD TO BE STARTED AGAIN EACH TIME. WE EXPERIENCED ENGINE HESITATION (SEEMED TO LOSE ALL POWER) WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 40 MPH ON THE WAY HOME. THERE WERE AT LEAST FOUR HESITATIONS AND WE WERE WORRIED IT WOULD DIE COMPLETELY. THESE HESITATIONS HAVE HAPPENED TWICE BEFORE AND ALWAYS IMMEDIATELY AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK. THE SEVERITY OF THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE INCREASING WITH EACH INCIDENT. WE ARE VERY CONCERNED THAT WE WILL STALL IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHILE DRIVING AND ARE NOW AFRAID TO FILL THE TANK COMPLETELY. WE NEVER "TOP OFF" THE CAR'S GAS TANK AND ALWAYS STOP FUELING AFTER THE STATION PUMP SHUTS OFF AUTOMATICALLY. *TR
AFTER A FULL FILL UP, WHILE DRIVING CAR STARTED CHUGGING, AND STALLED. AT RED LIGHTS, OR STOP SIGNS, CAR STALLED AND DIED. AT A STOP, GOING TO START THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, CAR STALLED. *TR
I GASSED UP, AND THEN DROVE OFF. WHEN SLOWING DOWN FOR A STOP LIGHT, MY CAR'S OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND STALLED OUT. IT RESTARTED, BUT THEN SHUT OFF AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO RE-START AND THEN TRAVEL 35 MILES EACH WAY VISITING FAMILY. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ON DECEMBER 3RD AFTER GASSING UP, IT SHUT DOWN ON ME WHEN I GOT TO WORK IN THE MORNING, THEN STALLED AGAIN ON THE WAY HOME. ENGINE OVERHEATED, IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF AND, I NOW NEED A NEW ENGINE. THERE WERE RECALLS FOR SOME OF THE ENGINE COOLING FANS IN MY CAR YEAR AND MODEL (06 DODGE CHARGER), BUT I AM BEING TOLD THAT IT DOES NOT APPLY TO ME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH IMMEDIATELY AFTER REFUELING, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE OIL WARNING LAMP. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS THIS MORNING, AS I ACCELERATED AWAY FROM THE GAS STATION THE CAR BEGAN TO BUCK AND JERK. IT SMOOTHED OUT FOR A LITTLE WHILE, THEN AFTER ACCELERATING AWAY FROM THE NEXT STOPLIGHT IT JERKED AND MADE A LOUD NOISE. THIS IS HEAVY SUBURBAN TRAFFIC, SO VERY STOP-AND-GO. THE CAR BEGAN TO STALL, AND ONLY RESTART IF I DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHILE STARTING. GO A LITTLE BIT FURTHER, THEN BUCK AND STALL AGAIN. VERY DANGEROUS! I'M LEARNING THROUGH ONLINE VEHICLE FORUMS THAT THIS IS A RELATIVELY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR/MAKE/MODEL VEHICLE'S GAS TANK AND THE INTEGRAL "ROLL-OVER" VALVE WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO PREVENT LIQUID FUEL FROM ENTERING THE ENGINE, YET THE MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE A FAULTY DESIGN THAT IS LEADING TO POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. MY 2006 DODGE CHARGER STALLED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WITHOUT ANY WARNING. USUALLY WHEN I FILL THE GAS TANK. THE CAR JUST STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I CAN RESTART THE CAR BUT IT WILL HAPPEN ATLEAST 5 OR 6 MORE TIMES AFTER. I USE THE BOOK RECOMMENDED LEVEL OF GAS AT TWO DIFFERENT REPUTABLE GAS STATIONS, WITH THE THOUGHT THAT IT WAS BAD GAS. WARMED UP MY CAR AS I ALWAYS DID IN THE MORNING FOR 15 MIN PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND PROCEEDED TO THE DOWN THE STREET TO THE STOP SIGN CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND MY CAR STARTED TO IDLE HARD CONTINUED DOWN THE STREET AT 35 MPH AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A STOP LIGHT THE CAR STARTED TO IDLE HARD AGAIN THEN THE RED LIGHTING BOLT STARTED TO FLASH AND CAR SHUT OFF. I TOOK MY CAR TO FOUR DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS NO ONE KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. ONE MECHANIC SAID THAT IT COULD BE THROTTLE BODY SO I HAD HIM REMOVE IT AND CLEAN IT HE ALSO REMOVED THE CABLES TO BATTERY TO RESET IT CAR WORK FINE FOR THREE DAYS NO PROBLEM THE ON THE FOURTH DAY DID AS I ALWAYS DID WARM UP CAR AND TAKE OFF CAR SHUT OFF AT FIRST STOP LIGHT. I NOTICED THAT IT DIDN'T DO IT WHILE IT WAS WARM OUT SIDE THIS MORNING WAS REALLY COLD AND SAME ISSUE. *TR
AFTER FILLING THE FUEL TANK, THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY STALL WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD WITHIN 5 MILES OF FUELING UP. THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS IF I AM TURNING AND ANOTHER VEHICLE IS COMING AT ME. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I CAME TO KNOW THAT DODGE HAD A REAL ISSUE WITH SAFETY CONCERNING THE EVAP SYSTEM. I WAS TOLD LATER THAT AN UNSERVICEABLE VALVE ON THE GAS TANK WAS FAULTY AND THEREFORE THE GAS TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; ITS TOO EXPENSIVE. IT HAS BEEN VERY FRUSTRATING BECAUSE THE ENGINE STALLING AFTER FUELING HAS GOTTEN BAD. I'VE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD TWICE AND NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE A STOP OR RED LIGHT. 11/16/13 I HAD JUST FILLED UP MY GAS TANK ON I95 AT LADYSMITH, VA AND WAS COMING DOWN THE RAMP NORTHBOUND WHEN THE ENGINE SPUTTERED AND STALLED JUST AS I MERGED ONTO THE HIGHWAY. I PULLED OVER AFTER GETTING BLASTED BY TRUCKERS HORNS FOR MAKING THEM SLAM ON BRAKES. AFTER A COUPLE ATTEMPTS IT RESTARTED AND I TOOK OFF AGAIN, ONLY TO HAVE IT STALL AGAIN. IT DID THIS THREE MORE TIMES BEFORE IT FINALLY STARTED AND DID NOT STALL. SINCE IT DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN, I FIGURED I JUST GOT SOME BAD GAS. THEN IT HAPPENED THE NEXT TIME I FILLED UP. AND THE NEXT. AND THE NEXT. I CHECKED ON-LINE AND FOUND SEVERAL OTHERS WHO HAD EXPERIENCED THIS AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE GAS BEING FILLED TO THE BRIM THAT CAUSED IT. I TRIED FILLING UP LESS THAN A FULL TANK AND THIS DID SEEM TO WORK. ONLY PROBLEM IS I NOW WANT TO SELL OR TRADE IN THE CAR AND I DON'T FEEL RIGHT PASSING THIS PROBLEM ALONG TO SOMEONE ELSE. I SAW THE ARTICLE ABOUT NHTSA FORCING CHRYSLER TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON 2006 HEMI CHARGERS AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ONLY TO BE TOLD THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS AND WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM FOR $1100. RECENTLY, I SAW THAT DODGE HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE TANK; SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I GET MY MAINTENANCE DONE. THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS A FUEL TANK PROBLEM (THE SAME OTHERS HAVE HAD), BUT DENIED THAT THE WARRANTY WOULD COVER IT. I CALLED DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND THEY SAID THE SAME. I KNOW OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN AT LOW SPEEDS, BUT BOTH TIMES IT OCCURRED GOING OVER 60MPH FOR ME, AND I FEEL IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR

I OWN A 2006 DODGE CHARGER SRT8 WITH ABOUT 31,000 MILES ON IT. I JUST GOT THE VEHICLE ON OCTOBER 25, 2013 AND HAVE ONLY HAD IT FOR A MONTH. A COUPLE WEEKS AFTER I HAD THE CAR, I NOTICED A BIG PROBLEM. MY ENGINE WOULD JUST SHUT OF WHEN I WAS IDLING.
