VEHICLE WOULD NOT COME OUT OF PARK. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO SHOP "PINK" PLASTIC "SHIFT INTERLOCK LATCH" BROKE THE SHIFTER WAS REPLACED. *TR
CAR STALLS OUT AND LOSS OF POWER WHILE STOPPING FOR STOP LIGHT. OIL LIGHT COMES ON AFTER STALLING OUT BUT NO ENGINE LIGHT OR FAULT CODE SHOWS UP. CAR USUALLY STARTS UP RIGHT AWAY BUT DOES TAKE A COUPLE OF TRIES AT TIMES. CAR ALSO JERKS AROUND LIKE STARVING FOR FUEL. HAD A TUNE UP DONE, FUEL SYSTEM CLEANED AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SHOP COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS VERY DISCERNING TO MYSELF AND MY FAMILY DUE TO SAFETY. A CAR THAT STALLS FOR NO REASON OR WARNING IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
CAR RUNS ROUGH AND DIES. CAR DIED WHILE CROSSING A STEET IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. NEVER CAN TELL WHEN CAR WILL ACT UP, AND THIS IS A POLICE PATROL CAR. THIS PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD IN THIS YEAR MODEL, AND COULD LEAD TO A CRASH, AND EVEN DEATH. *TR
JUST AFTER FILLING THE TANK AND MERGING ON TO THE MAJOR DEEGAN EXPRESSWAY (I-87N) CAR DEAD STALLED IN THE HIGHWAY, CAUSING TO VEHICLES BEHIND ME TO SLAM ON THEIR BRAKES TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. IT TOOK ME TEN MINUTES TO GET MY CAR RESTARTED. ENGINE WOULD TURN OVER BUT NOT REMAIN ON. BUT AFTER TEN MINUTES OF TRYING THIS, CAR REMAINED ON AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME. I THOUGHT THAT I HAD BEEN GIVEN SOME BAD GAS, UNTIL THE INCIDENT REPEATED ITSELF AGAIN AFTER A FILL UP SEVEN DAYS AGO AT A GAS STATION NEAR MY HOME. THE OWNER THERE SAYS HE HAS SEEN A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH OTHER CHARGERS AFTER FILL UP. I THEN CALLED CHRYSLER AT 1-800-992-1997 ([XXX]?) AND CHRYSLER CLAIMED THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM BEFORE AND THAT I WILL HAVE TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALER AND HAVE IT REPAIRED AT MY OWN COST, BUT IF THEY'VE NEVER HEARD OF ANY PROBLEM LIKE THIS BEFORE THEN HOW DO THEY KNOW THE DEALER WILL KNOW HOW TO REPAIR IT? MY CAR WILL STALL INTERMITTENTLY FOR THE FIRST 2-3 DAYS AFTER I FILL THE FUEL TANK. USUALLY AT A STOP, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS TWICE. *TR
MINUTES AFTER FILLING MY TANK WITH GAS, I DROVE LESS THAN A MILE AND TURNED INTO A PARKING LOT. I WAS STILL DRIVING, AROUND 15 MPH, WHEN I HEARD A DING, AND IMMEDIATELY NOTICED A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. I PRESSED THE BRAKE AND QUICKLY NOTICED A LOSS OF BRAKING AS WELL. IT WAS THEN I REALIZED THE CAR HAD STALLED WHILE I WAS STILL MOVING! THANKFULLY I HAD NO ONE AROUND AND WAS ON A STRAIGHT STRETCH WHERE I COULD SLOWLY COME TO A STOP, PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTART. I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE, AND THE CAR PROCEEDED TO STALL OUT 2 MORE TIMES JUST SITTING THERE. THERE WAS NO WARNING SYMPTOMS AHEAD OF TIME - PERFECTLY SMOOTH IDLE AT THE CORRECT RPM, THEN IT JUST DROPS TO 0 AS IF THE KEY WERE TURNED OFF. I RAN INTO THE STORE FOR LESS THAN 2 MINUTES, CAME OUT AND DROVE HOME. I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY PROBLEMS SINCE THEN (THIS HAPPENED LESS THAN 24 HOURS AGO). THERE WERE NO CODES THROWN. I'VE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE '07 WHEN IT HAD 5K MILES ON IT. WITH A LITTLE OVER 88K MILES I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN BEFORE. I WAS LEAVING THE GAS STATION AFTER I FILLED UP THE CAR WITH GASOLINE AND THE ENGINE STALLED. I PLACED THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK AND TURNED ON THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, DROVE TO THE STOP LIGHT AND THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. THE CAR KEPT STALLING EVERY TIME I WOULD STOP FOR THE NEXT THREE MILES. THE CAR RAN FINE UNTIL I TOPPED OFF THE FUEL TANK AND THEN THE CAR BEGAN STALLING AGAIN. THE CAR STALLS AT EVERY STOP FOR THE NEXT TWO TO THREE MILES EVERY TIME THAT I TOP OFF THE FUEL TANK. I CANNOT AND HAVE NOT TOPPED OFF THE FUEL SINCE THEN FOR FEAR THAT THE CAR WILL STALL AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR
AFTER FILLING MY CAR UP AT A GAS STATION I WAS ENTERING THE FREEWAY AND MY CAR SPUTTERED AND STALLED ON ME ON THE ON RAMP TO THE FREEWAY. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED AND THE CAR LOCKED UP AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO STEER. FURTHER DIAGNOSES FROM THE DEALERSHIP SHOWED THAT THE EVAP VALVE WAS BAD ON THE CAR AND NEEDED A NEW GAS TANK. APPARENTLY THIS PROBLEM IS HAPPENING WITH A LOT OF DODGE CHARGERS, MAGNUMS AND CHRYSLER 300'S. *TR
WENT TO START MY DODGE CHARGER R/T AND THE ENGINE MADE A UNKNOWN TERRIBLE LOUD NOISE AND THEN WOULD NOT START. I'VE HAD ISSUES WITH THE CAR STALLING WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR WOULD DIE. BUT I'VE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS TERRIBLE LOUD NOISE OF THE ENGINE. IT'S CLEAR THIS ENGINE SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD THIS MALFUNCTION AT THE MILEAGE THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT, I BELIEVE THIS TO BE TRUE AS I TOWED THE CAR TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION OF THE ENGINE AND THEY HAD STATED THIS MALFUNCTION SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED AT THIS MILEAGE IF AT ALL. DODGE REFUSES TO OPEN THE ENGINE TO DETERMINE THE EXACT ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE WITHOUT MY FRONTING 480.00. I CALLED DODGE/CRYSTAL CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO DID NOT WANT TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE AND THEY ADVISED TO FILE A COMPLIANT WITH NHTSA. I WANT DODGE TO EITHER REPAIR THE VEHICLE OR TO BUY THE VEHICLE FOR THE AMOUNT I CURRENTLY HAVE INVESTED. I STRONGLY BELIEVE DODGE IS TO BLAME AS I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND HAVE FOUND THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED OCCURRENCE. *TR
ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO AT AROUND 65,000 MILES, MY 2006 DODGE CHARGER R/T STARTED SPUTTERING AND CUTTING OFF AFTER FILLING WITH FUEL. A STRONG ODOR WOULD COME FROM UNDERNEATH. IT WILL LAST FOR ABOUT 5-10 MILES AND STOP. I HAVE NO MORE PROBLEMS WITH IT UNTIL I FILL UP AGAIN. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES WITH ME PAYING FOR DIAGNOSTICS BUT THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG.I HAVE EXPLAINED TO THEM IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I PUT FUEL IN IT. NOW THAT I AM SEEING THESE COMPLAINTS, I AM CONTACTING THE DODGE DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THIS IS MY PROBLEM. IT IS DANGEROUS DRIVING THIS CAR LIKE THIS. I HAVE TO MAKE SURE I DON'T PUT FUEL IN IT IN THE CITY BECAUSE YOU WILL GET STUCK IN TRAFFIC AND RISK GETTING IN AND ACCIDENT. WHY WANT THE COMPANY DO A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM, IT IS VERY SERIOUS AND NEED TO BE FIX BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED.. *TR
STALLING HAPPENS AFTER FUEL UP. STALLING AT HIGH SPEEDS WHILE ACCELERATION AND WHILE STOPPED AT STOP LIGHTS. LOOSES POWER INSTANTLY ON FREEWAY THE KICKS BACK IN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WERE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS BEFORE THE ENGINE WOULD RESTART AND THEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RESUME NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED ONLY AFTER REFUELING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
SO MY CAR BEGAN TO STALL AFTER FILLING IT UP WITH GAS. MOST OF THE TIME IT STALLED WHILE STOPPED. A FEW TIMES WHILE IN MOTION. SINCE THE CAR DIES I HAVE LOST POWER STEERING. *TR
THIS CAR STALLS FOR THE FIRST 20-30 MILES AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK. IT STALLS IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS, WHILE IDLING, WHEN CRUISING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ETC... *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE AT A STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL LINES NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 250,000.
AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK THE VEHICLE STALLS AFTER DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE. HAS DONE THIS NUMEROUS TIMES. IT WILL SPUTTER FOR SOME TIME AND CONTINUE TO CUT OFF SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE DRIVING SMOOTHLY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS A FAULTY GAS TANK. AFTER REMOVING THE GAS TANK, I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP LATER THAT DAY. THEY ADVISED ME THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS CRACKED. THE TOTAL COST WENT FROM $1300 TO AN ADDITIONAL $300. *TR
TRANSMISSION SHIFTER INTERLOCK LEVER RETURN SPRING HOOK BROKE MY 2006 DODGE CHARGER WAS IN PARK OVERNIGHT, WENT OUT TO START VEHICLE, ONCE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING, TRIED TO TAKE THE GEAR OUT OF PARK TO DRIVE AND IT WOULD NOT RELEASE. TURNED CAR OFF, SAT FOR 5 MINUTES, STARTED CAR AGAIN, PUT FOOT ON BRAKE AND TRIED TO TAKE GEAR OUT OF PARK, IT WOULD NOT RELEASE. CALLED MECHANIC AND INFORMED HIM OF THE SITUATION, MECHANIC CAME TO SEE VEHICLE AND INFORMED ME THAT THE SHIFTER INTERLOCK LEVER SPRING HOOK WAS BROKEN, THAT'S WHY THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT COME OUT OF PARK. THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN TO 2ND VEHICLE THAT I OWN (DODGE MAGNUM) AS WELL, FOR HE'S HAD A LOT OF DODGE VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
INITIALLY, AFTER REFUELING MY VEHICLE (2006 DODGE CHARGER R/T WITH 5.7L HEMI) AT A GAS STATION, THE ENGINE WOULD HESITATE AND STUMBLE A MILE OR SO LATER, AND OPERATE NORMALLY AFTER A FEW MOMENTS. HOWEVER, BEGINNING WITHIN THE LAST MONTH, WHENEVER I REFUEL AT THE GAS STATION, THE ENGINE WILL HESITATE AND THEN STALL.THE OBD DOES NOT ILLUMINATE THE MIL OR REGISTER A DTC. THE ENGINE IS THEN HARD TO RESTART, AND ONCE RESTARTED AND THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT BEGIN TO MOVE IMMEDIATELY UPON PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR, AS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS IN PARK OR NEUTRAL. THE STALLING HAPPENS WHEN PULLING OUT OF THE GAS STATION, WHEN STOPPED AND IDLING, AND HAS HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. THIS PROBLEM HAS RESULTED IN SEVERAL NEAR COLLISIONS AS THE UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER HAPPENS WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC AND WHILE DRIVING. THIS CONDITION CONTINUES FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AND MILES. I HAVE GOTTEN INTO THE PRACTICE OF REFUELING AND DRIVING STRAIGHT HOME TO PARK THE CAR OVERNIGHT, AS IT SEEMS TO DRIVE BETTER GIVEN TIME TO SIT AFTER REFUELING. *TR
AFTER FILLING GAS TANK, ENGINE HESITATES AND/OR STALLS. I ONLY FILL UP UNTIL THE FUEL PUMP AUTOMATICALLY SHUTS OFF, I DO NOT ADD ANY MORE FUEL THAN THAT. THIS HAS HAPPENED ALMOST EVERY TIME I HAVE FILLED UP WITH FUEL. MOST OF THE STALLING/HESITATION OCCURS WHEN COASTING OR DECELERATING (COMING TO A STOP). THIS HAS CREATED MULTIPLE VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS DUE TO THE ENGINE NOT RUNNING AND I HAVE A LOSS OF THE POWER ASSIST TO THE STEERING. OCCASIONALLY THE ENGINE HAS A DIFFICULT TIME RESTARTING AFTER THE ENGINE STALLS. THIS WILL OCCUR APPROXIMATELY 4-8 TIMES AFTER A FILL-UP OF FUEL. *TR
2006 DODGE CHARGER R/T (CLOSE TO 70K MILES) FAILED TO ACCELERATE SHORTLY AFTER FUEL TANK WAS PARTIALLY FILLED (3/4 OF GAS TANK). INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN ON A 2 WAY/DOUBLE LANE CITY STREET. AS I PROCEEDED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN WHEN A CLEAR SECTION OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC WAS PRESENT, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OPPOSITE "ONCOMING" TRAFFIC AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE. IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE PROPER ACCELERATION, I HAD TO RESTART THE VEHICLE (WHILE ONCOMING TRAFFIC WAS FORCED TO STOP, ABRUPTLY). FORTUNATELY THE INCIDENT DID NOT INVOLVE ANY INJURIES NOR FATALITIES. THEREFORE THE REASON WHY THIS SAFETY COMPLAINT IS BEING SUBMITTED. NO PREVIOUS SIGNS OF THIS ISSUE WAS EVER NOTICED, NOR DID IT HAPPENED BEFORE. *TR
AFTER FUELING VEHICLE DROVE APPROXIMATELY .25 MI AND VEHICLE STALLED. ATTEMPTED TO RESTART VEHICLE AND AFTER A COUPLE TRIES WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND MOVE TO A SAFE LOCATION. VEHICLE STAYED RUNNING UNTIL I WENT TO BACK OUT AND THEN STALLED AGAIN. I LET CAR SIT FOR A BIT AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME SAFELY. TOOK TO A SHOP THE NEXT DAY WHERE THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY CODES STATING AN ISSUE. CAR SEEMS TO BE RUNNING FINE FOR NOW, BUT I AM FEARFUL OF WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT FROM PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
I CONTINUE TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY CAR STALLING AFTER REFUELING. I KNOW THAT NHTSA HAS BEEN INVESTIGATING THIS ISSUE FOR A WHILE (PE-13-016) AND THAT THEY CLOSED THIS INVESTIGATION ON FEB 10, 2014, AFTER CHRYSLER AGREED TO PROVIDE A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THE MULTIFUNCTION CONTROL VALVE ON FUEL TANK. I HAD BEEN WAITING TO RECEIVE MY LETTER, WHICH SUPPOSEDLY BEGAN BEING MAILED OUT IN JANUARY 2014, SO I COULD HAVE THIS FIXED. I TALKED TO MY DEALERSHIP IN MARCH WHO SAID THEY KNEW NOTHING OF THE PROBLEM AND THEY SUGGESTED CALLING CHRYSLER. I CALLED CHRYSLER ON APRIL 4, 2014, AND THEY SAID THEY ARE STILL INVESTIGATING THE PROBLEM AND THAT I SHOULD JUST WAIT FOR THE LETTER. I HAVE HAD TO DEAL WITH MY CAR STALLING OUT FOR NEARLY A YEAR AND WHEN I THOUGHT IT WAS NEARLY OVER, I WAS TOLD TO WAIT SOME MORE? WHY ISN'T CHRYSLER HONORING THEIR AGREEMENT WITH NHTSA? *TR
WHEN I GOT INTO THE CAR TO LEAVE WORK I COULD NOT GET IT OUT OF PARK. I GOT A RIDE HOME AND RETURNED THE NEXT DAY AND CALLED THE DODGE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THEY HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN NUMEROUS TIMES AND THAT IT COULD HAPPEN ANYWHERE. ONE OF THE MECHANICS HAD IT HAPPEN WHEN HE STOPPED FOR FUEL. THE PART COST $7 AND THE LABOR IS $175. I FEEL I WAS FORTUNATE THAT IT DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE I HAD MY INFANT GRANDKIDS WITH ME AND THAT IT HAPPENED AT WORK, SO AT LEAST I WAS NOT STRANDED SOMEWHERE ALONE. EVIDENTLY DODGE IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE MECHANIC SAID THEY USED TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE SHIFT MECHANISM AND NOW DODGE HAS COME OUT WITH A CHEAPER PART TO FIX IT. IT EVIDENTLY DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE YEAR BECAUSE THEY SAID THEY HAVE HAD IT HAPPEN ON BRAND NEW VEHICLES AS WELL AS OLDER MODELS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ADJUSTING THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT, BOTH THE ACCELERATOR AND THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO HAVE LOW ACCELERATION POWER. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT BOTH THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS WOULD RISE OR FALL SIMULTANEOUSLY DEPENDING ON THE ADJUSTMENT OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 143,000. *TR
AFTER FILL UP OF GAS TANK CSR WILL START AND DRIVE NORMAL FOR APPROX 1 MILE THEN BEGIN TO STALL OUT. THIS HAPPENS WHILE GAS PEDAL IS BEING DEPRESSED AND WHILE BRAKING. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR APPROX 10 TO 15 MIN THE STALLING STOPS. THIS HAPPENS AFTER EVERY GAS FILL UP. *TR
CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK - RESEARCHED ISSUE ONLINE TO FIND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLER/DODGE PRODUCTS THAT THE SHIFT INTERLOCK MECHANISM FAILS AND THE CAR BECOMES UNDRIVEABLE AS IT WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. TOOK APART SHIFT CONSOLE TO MANUALLY MOVE MECHANISM OUT OF PARK AND GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. DEALER CONFIRMS SHIFT INTERLOCK MECHANISM WAS AT FAULT. CONTACTED DODGE - ALTHOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS RECALLS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER DODGE/CHRYSLER MODELS/YEARS - THE 2006 CHARGER IS NOT "OFFICIALLY ON THE RECALL LIST", SO I HAD TO PAY FOR THE FAULTY MECHANISM REPLACEMENT OUT OF POCKET. *TR
WHILE DRIVING WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON THE CAR JUST STALLED OUT FOR ABOUT 3-5 SECONDS AND KICKED BACK ON. THIS HAS NOW BECOME MORE FREQUENT AND ALSO STALLS WHILE STOPPED NOW. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH RADIATOR FANS OVERHEATED AND BEGAN RUBBING TOGETHER. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT THEY WERE LUCKY TO HAVE THEM REPLACED BEFORE THEY BECAME FRACTURED AND ENTERED THE RADIATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND BOTH FANS WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 72,300. *TR
DROVE TO A BUSINESS AND ONCE PLACED IN PARK, THE GEAR SHIFT BECAME STUCK. CALLED AAA, THEY WERE GOING TO TOW IT, THEN ANOTHER DRIVER SHOWED UP FOR AAA AND KNEW JUST WHAT TO DO. HE TAKES APART THE CASE THAT GOES AROUND THE GEAR SHIFT AND PRESSES ON A PINK COLORED EMERGENCY PARK RELEASE LEVER, ( WHY IS THAT EVEN AN OPTION??!!! ) IT WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT ATTACHED TO ANY THING AS IT FELL DOWN INTO THE SPACE AROUND THE SHIFTER AND STILL RESIDES THERE. THE DISCUSSION OF TOWING IT CAME UP AGAIN, THEN WE NOTICED A CABLE ATTACHED TO THE SHIFTER AND AFTER PLAYING WITH IT HAVE DEVELOPED A SYSTEM TO UNLATCH IT FROM PARK. YOU HAVE TO PULL THE CABLE TO THE LEFT WITH A PEN TO DISABLE THE GEAR SHIFT. TODAY I TOOK IT TO WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS AND TO TAKE IT TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP. THE DODGE DEALERSHIP KNEW JUST WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT, BUT DENIES A RECALL ON THIS. I AM SCHEDULED TO HAVE IT FIXED MONDAY THE 12TH. I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO KEEP PAYING FOR FAULTY EQUIPMENT, THIS CAR HAS BEEN A DISASTER SINCE I BOUGHT IT. THE FRONT END HAS BEEN FIXED ABOUT 4 TIMES FOR VIGOROUSLY SHAKING AND A GOD AWFUL RATTLING NOISE ( GOES AWAY FOR A SHORT TIME THEN RETURNS SHORTLY AFTER BEING FIXED!!), NUMEROUS TIRES HAVE BEEN BOUGHT BECAUSE THAT MUST BE THE PROBLEM TOO ( OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF THE DEALERSHIP), THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT STAYS ON, THE ABS LIGHT SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS AND HAS LEFT ME WITH A NO BRAKE SENSATION ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. I HAVE ALWAYS OWNED DODGES, BUT NEXT TIME I PURCHASE A VEHICLE IT WONT BE A DODGE. *TR
I REFUELED THE GAS TANK WITH HIGH OCTANE GAS, AND WHILE DRIVING THE SHORT DISTANCE HOME, THE ENGINE STALLED THREE TIMES. THIS MADE BRAKING DIFFICULT AND SCARY, AS I WAS IN TRAFFIC. EACH TIME IT STARTED BACK UP, BUT LEFT ME VERY AFRAID OF WRECKING FROM POSSIBLY NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP THE CAR. THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AFTER REFUELING ON 9/13/13 AND 11/16/13 AND 1/31/14. I REPORTED THE FIRST INCIDENT THAT OCCURRED ON 4/28/13 ON A SEPARATE COMPLAINT FORM (XREF ODI #10562746. AS OF THIS DATE (2/3/14) THE MILEAGE IS 27,670. THE LOW MILEAGE IS BECAUSE I ALTERNATED BETWEEN THREE VEHICLES. *TR
WHEN I FILL THE CAR COMPLETELY UP WITH GAS, IT WILL STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL THE FUEL LEVEL LOWERS. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. I HAD MY OIL CHANGED AND ALL FLUIDS CHECKED AT A DODGE DEALERSHIP ON A WEDNESDAY. THAT FOLLOWING SUNDAY WHILE TRAVELING THROUGH TOWN, THE ENGINE OVERHEATED. AFTER MUCH INVESTIGATION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE RADIATOR FAN MOTORS HAVE LOCKED UP. THIS HAPPENED QUITE SUDDENLY AND I AM NOW WITHOUT A VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING SYMBOLS OTHER THAN THE OVERHEATING. I FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN ON LINE THAT PERTAINS TO THE REPLACEMENT OF THE RADIATOR FANS ON 2006 DODGE CHARGERS. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS NOT MANUFACTURED IN THE FACTORY THAT HAS THE SERVICE BULLETIN PERTAINED TO. I THEN CALLED MY DODGE DEALERSHIP AND MY SERVICE WRITER STATED THAT SERVICE BULLETINS DO NOT MEAN THE EXPENSES ARE PAID FOR AND I HAVE NO RECALLS ON MY VIN NUMBER. THEREFORE, DODGE CAN NOT HELP ME AND MY OUT OF POCKET COULD RANGE ANYWHERE FROM $500 TO OVER $1,000. THE SERVICE WRITER FURTHER STATED TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED INTO THE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY AND THEY WILL DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM FOR AN ADDITIONAL $100. ON 5 OR 6 OCCASIONS, WHEN GAS TANK IS FULL, MY CHARGER STALLS. ON ONE OCCASION, IT RESTARTED EASILY ONLY TO STALL AGAIN SECONDS LATER. ANOTHER OCCASION, STALLED,RESTART, STALLED, RESTART, STALLED, RESTART. ANOTHER OCCASION, STALLED AND TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART. HAS STALLED FROM SITTING AND IDLING , 10MPH AND 30 MPH. ONCE IT STALLED AS I WAS COMING TO STOP AT SIGNAL LIGHT AND NARROWLY AVOIDED REAR ENDING CAR IN FRONT OF ME BECAUSE WAS DIFFICULT TO APPLY BRAKE. *TR

TO HOT WITHIN SECONDS SIMULTANEOUSLY THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND BEEPED. IN REVIEWING THE MANUFACTURER MANUAL, WAS ADVISED TO SHUT OF ENGINE IMMEDIATELY AND TAKE IN TO DEALER FOR SERVICE. I CONTACTED MY SALES REPRESENTATIVE THAT I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM FOR ADVISE. WE DETERMINED DUE TO NATURE OF PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT GO FAR. I TOOK TO LOCAL MIDAS SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHOM ADVISED THERE WAS A GENERAL RECALL NOTICE. I CALLED LOCAL DEALERSHIP THAT DENIED COMPLAINTS OR LIABILITY FOR MY VIN. I THEN CALL CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT ALSO DENIED KNOWLEDGE OF ANY SAFETY NOTICES. I REQUESTED THE COST FOR REPAIR; HOWEVER, 1.5 LATER NO ESTIMATE. I DECIDED TO CHECK ONLINE MYSELF THOUGHT IT IN THE BEST INTEREST OF CURRENT/FUTURE DODGE OWNERS TO INITIATE AN INVESTIGATION COMPLAINT. *TR
AFTER FILLING WITH GAS THE ENGINE STALLED AND DIED. IT HAS CONTINUED TO DO THIS EVERY TIME THE TANK IS FILLED. *TT

AFTER REFUELING OF VEHICLE AND DRIVING FROM GAS STATION VEHICLE STALLS AND HARD TO START. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET IT APPEARS THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. NOW WHEN TRYING TO REFUEL THE VEHICLE THE PUMP KICKS OFF EVERY FEW SECONDS, UNABLE TO REFUEL AT A GAS STATION AT THIS POINT. ONLY WAY TO REFUEL AT THIS POINT IS BY USING A FIVE GALLON GAS CAN SO THAT THE AIR CAN ESCAPE THE GAS TANK THROUGH THE GAS TANK FILLER TUBE. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE CHECK VALVE ON THE GAS EVAP SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE WHICH IS INTERGRATED WITHIN THE GAS TANK. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY HAVE SEEN THIS MANY TIMES AND THE CHECK VALVE CANNOT BE REPLACED. TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM A NEW GAS TANK WILL NEED TO BE INSTALLED AT A COST OF $1,350. *TR
BEFORE ARRIVING AT WORK STOPPED AT MCDONALDS TO GET COFFEE. AFTER 10MIN RETURN TO CAR AND TRIED TO START AND WOULD NOT START. I TURNED KEY AGAIN CAR STARTED SHAKING AND STARTED WITH WHITE SMOKE COMING OUT OF EXHAUST. CAR WAS SHAKING REAL HARD I STEPPED ON GAS PEDAL AND PLACE IT IN DRIVE I DROVE TO THE NEXT STREET TO WORK LOCATION AND AS I WAS PUTTING CAR IN REVERSED CAR CUT OFF AGAIN. I STARTED IT AGAIN SMOKE AGAIN CAME OUT I PUT IN REVERSE WHILE GIVING GAS AND BACKED CAR INTO PARKING SPOT AT WORK LOCATION. I CALLED TOW TRUCK J & J TOWING THEY CAME AND I STARTED CAR AND DROVE UNTO FLATBED AND HAD TOWED TO MYERS AUTOMOTIVE MECHANICS. THEY SAID THE VALVE/CYLINDER #2 HAD BROKEN CAUSE SPARK PLUG TO BEND AND MELTED OTHER THINGS AND THAT THIS YEAR OF THE 2006 DODGE CHARGER RT WITH THE HEMI 5.7 WAS KNOW FOR THIS ISSUE THEY HAVE HAD TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF PROBLEMS WITH THESE MODELS/MAKE OF DODGE AND THAT EVEN GETTING A USED ONE IT WOULD DO THE SAME. THEY ADVISED A NEW MANUFACTURED ONE THAT DODGE APPARENTLY HAVE REVISED EDITIONS. THEY NEED TO REPLACED ALL THESE ENGINE ISSUES THAT THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT BUT LEFT THE CONSUMER TO DEAL WITH UNFORTUNATELY. *TR

IN JUNE 2013 I STARTED EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY SHUTTING OFF. TOOK VEHICLE TO SEVERAL DIFFERENT DODGE MECHANIC AND WAS ADVISED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND JUST NOT FILL THE GAS TANK TO FULL WHEN ADDING FULL. THIS WENT ON SEVERAL MONTHS AND AFTER SPENDING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR "PROBLEMS" NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ISSUE I TOOK TO A NEIGHBORHOOD MECHANIC WHO AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS DETERMINED IT NEEDED A NEW THROTTLE SWITCH (DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM) AND FINALLY REBUILDING THE COMPUTER. THIS HELPED THE PROBLEM A LITTLE AS THE STALLING OUT ONLY HAPPENED INFREQUENTLY. HOWEVER, RECENTLY THE PROBLEM IS REOCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY. *TR

NO ENGINE LIGHT INDICATOR OR ANYTHING. PLACE CAR BACK IN PARK AND RESTARTED. THIS HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES. FIRST TIME HAD TO GET SOME SENSOR RELAY REPLACED. NOT TO LONG AGO. SINCE THEN ABOUT A WEEK LATER AFTER FUELING OVER THE WEEKEND WENT TO WORK STOPPED AT A MCDONALDS CAME OUT TO DRIVE A STREET OVER TO WORK CARD WOULD NOT START. HELD DOWN GAS PEDAL CAR STARTED SHAKING HAD AND WHITE SMOKE CAME OUT EXHAUST. I PLACED CAR IN DRIVE DROVE TO WORK PARKING LOT AS I WAS PUTTING IN REVERSED IT STALLED AGAIN. SHAKING REAL HARD. GOT TOWED TO MYERS AUTOMOTIVE AND THEY ADVISED DODGE CHARGERS 2006 RT 5.7L ARE HAVING THESE ENGINE PROBLEMS WITH CYLINDERS AND LIFTER/VALVES. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 DODGE CHARGER 5.7 HEMI I HAD JUST FILLED MY CAR WITH GAS COMPLETELY FULL UNTIL THE ONE CLICK OF THE HANDLE, REPLACED THE FUEL CAP CLOSED THE FUEL DOOR AND STARTED THE ENGINE RAN JUST FINE, I MAKE A LEFT TURN OUT OF THE GAS STATION MAKE IT ABOUT 100 FEET AND IT STALLS I LOSE ALL POWER AND IT DIES I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE BUT IT CONTINUED TO THIS FOR SEVERAL DAYS I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP SO I REPLACED THE PUMP AND STILL HAD THE SAME ISSUES DO I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP AFTER THREE DAYS I WAS TOLD IT WAS POSSIBLY A BAD COIL PACK BUT THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHICH ONE IT WAS THEY REPLACED ALL PLUGS AND ONE PACK IT NOW RUNS BUT NOT THE WAY IT SHOULD I LOOKED UP SIMILAR ISSUES AND KEPT COMING ACROSS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH OTHER CHARGERS OF THE SAME YEAR THAT IT WAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE GAS TANK. *TR
MOST TIMES, AFTER REFUELING THE CAR WILL STALL WHILE DRIVING. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF THE TANK IS EMPTY OR HALF FULL PRIOR TO REFUELING. THE STALLING WILL HAPPEN WITHIN THE FIRST 10 MINUTES AFTER REFUELING. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN ANY OTHER TIME DURING VEHILCLE OPERATION. THE CAR HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, AT INTERSECTIONS AND DURING NORMAL OPERATION WITH NO WARNING AND POTENTIALLY COULD HAVE BEEN VERY HAZARDOUS. I AM AWARE OF THE SITUATION AND NOW WAIT FOR AT LEAST 10 MINUTES AFTER REFUELING BEFORE LEAVING THE GAS STATION. *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST THREE TIMES NOW. TWICE FOR SURE LEAVING A GAS STATION THE FIRST TIME I WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN LEAVING THE GAS STATION AND IT STALLED OUT. MOST RECENTLY I WAS LEAVING THE GAS STATION AND HAD MADE IT OUT ON THE ROAD AT ABOUT 35 MPH WHEN THE VEH STALLED. I MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER AND SHUT IT DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED AGAIN. IT DIED AGAIN ABOUT 150 FT LATER. LUCKILY THIS WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY MECHANICS SHOP. HE LOOKED AT IT TODAY AND TOLD ME I NEED A NEW FUEL TANK BECAUSE RAW FUEL IS GETTING PUSHED UP THROUGH THE VAPOR VALVE. I NOW SEE I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS ISSUE. CLEARLY IT'S A PROBLEM WITH THE VALVE. *TR
AFTER REFUELING STALLED OUT HAS DONE IT MULTIPLE TIMES. HAD ONE TIME WHILE PASSING IT LAGGED THEN WHEN I STOPPED AFTER IT STALLED OUT AGAIN. *TR
VEHICLE STALLS AFTER REFUELING AND PULLING OUT OF THE GAS STATION (INTO TRAFFIC). THEN, IT IS HARD TO START AND SPUTTERS AND STALLS FOR SOME TIME. IT APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL TANK VENT VALVE FAILING TO SHUT OFF WHEN THE TANK IF FULL. THIS ALLOWS RAW FUEL TO ENTER THE EVAPORATION SYSTEM WHICH PROBABLY RUINS THE EVAPORATION CANISTER AS WELL. THE FUEL TANK VENT VALVE IS INTEGRATED INTO THE FUEL TANK SO, THE FUEL TANK HAS TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO FIX THE PRIMARY ISSUE. OTHER COMPONENTS IN THE EVAPORATION SYSTEM MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED AS THEY WERE NOT DESIGNED TO HAVE RAW FUEL IN THEM. *TR
