I PURCHASED THIS 2006 DODGE CHARGER R/T FROM A DEALERSHIP IN WOODLAND, CA IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEAVING THE LOT I DROVE APPROX. 20 MILES ON MY WAY HOME THE CAR STARTED STALLING WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, I WILL BE DRIVING ALONG AND IT WILL SUDDENLY JERK AND LOSE ALL POWER FOR A SPLIT SECOND (IF SOMEONE WAS RIDING MY BUMPER IT WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT FOR SURE) AS IT LOST POWER THE RPM GAUGE WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN AND JUMPED BACK UP AS IF THE CAR DIED COMPLETELY AND RESTARTED ITSELF, IT CHIMED EVEN AS IF I HAD JUST STARTED THE CAR. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE ONLINE AND SEE ITS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM TO NO AVAIL. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP IN MY HOMETOWN AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM, SAID IT WAS SPARK PLUGS ETC I ENDED UP SPENDING $550 AND ITS STILL STALLING SOMETIMES UP TO 15-20 TIMES A DAY ITS VERY DANGEROUS UNFORTUNATELY THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND I CANT AFFORD TO KEEP DISHING MONEY OUT TO DODGE. I SERIOUSLY BELIEVE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH DODGE AND CHRYSLER VEHICLES AS I'VE SEEN ONLINE VERY MANY PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM BUT THERE'S NO SOLUTION AS FAR AS I CAN FIND! IM KINDA SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR LIKE THIS BUT ITS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION SO THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO!! ITS DANGEROUS! *TR
I HAVE A 2006 DODGE CHARGER R/T WITH A 5.7L ENGINE. MY CAR HAS STARTED TO RANDOMLY STALL MOSTLY AT SLOWER SPEEDS WHEN APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT OR MAKING A TURN. THERE IS NO WARNING THAT IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN, IT JUST SPUTTERS, BUCKS AND THEN STALLS. THERE ARE NO CODES AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR. IT WILL RESTART IF I PUT IT IN EITHER PARK OR NEUTRAL BUT CONTINUES TO CHUG AND SPUTTER AFTER RESTARTING. IT WILL DO THIS FOR AWHILE AND THEN WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN FOR SOME TIME. I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IS GOING TO DO IT OR HOW LONG IT WILL LAST. IT IS VERY UNNERVING SINCE IT HAPPENS AT LIGHTS AND IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS. IT HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY RESTART IT IN NEUTRAL AND NOT GET INTO A BAD SITUATION! IT'S VERY FRIGHTENING SINCE I LIVE IN A BIG CITY WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS!!!!! AFTER LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE WITH THE CAR AND SEEING THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT. A RECALL WOULD BE APPROPRIATE. *TR
I HAD JUST FILLED MY CAR WITH (93 OCTANE FUEL) AFTER PUTTING THE CAR BACK ON THE ROAD ,AS IT IS MY SUMMER VEHICLE. I NEVER FILL PAST FIRST CLICK. I STARTED IT AND IT STARTED IDLING ROUGH 200-300 RPMS AND IT QUIT. I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND HAD TO GIVE IT SOME GAS TO GET IT TO GO AGAIN WHICH IT DID,CHALKED IT UP TO COINCIDENCE. I PULLED OUT OF THE GAS STATION AND WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC AND NO SOONER DID I PULL OUT THAN DID IT STALL,NARROWLY MISSED BEING HIT BY A LARGE TRUCK,PUT IN NEUTRAL AND IT RESTARTED. HOWEVER IT DID NOT RUN VERY WELL IT WAS WHAT I CALL BUCKING AND SURGING AS I DROVE DOWN THE ROAD THE CAR WAS ALMOST UNRESPONSIVE AS FAR AS THROTTLE CONTROL ABOUT 15- 30 MPH. AS I LEFT THE CITY THE CAR STALLED AGAIN I ROLLED TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROADAND POPPED IT INTO NEUTRAL,IT RESTARTED AND IDLED NORMAL AGAIN. I WAS NOW ENTERING THE HIGHWAY TO GO HOME AND MADE IT HOME APPROXIMATELY 15 MILES AWAY. THE CAR SEEMED FINE AGAIN. I HAVE LONG HAD A STALLING ISSUE WITH THE CAR EVERY SINCE I PURCHASED IN JANUARY OF 2012. I HAVE TAKE CARE OF THIS CAR TO THE UTMOSTSTANDARD WHILE IN MY POSSESSION. THIS CAR IS IMMACULATE AND IS NOT A CLUNKER. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED THE STALLING ISSUE WHEN MAKING TIGHT TURNS AT PARKING LOT SPEED MOSTLY TO THE LEFT. THE ISSUE LIES IN THE FUEL TANK ITSELF THERE IS A VALVE ON TOP THAT FAILS AND LETS RAW GASOLINE INTO THE EMISSIONS VAPOR SYSTEM. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING! CHRYSLER NATIONWIDE IS GOING THROUGH 43 OF THESE TANKS ON AVERAGE A WEEK. THIS TELLS ME THERE IS A LARGE ISSUE. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY THE TANK IS NOT CHEAP OR SIMPLE OR EASY TO INSTALL WITH AN AVERAGE BILL OF 1200 -1800 DOLLARS DEPENDING ON HOW MANY COMPONENTS ARE DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THE RAW FUEL ENTERING A CLOSED SYSTEM.THERE ARE MANY CHRYSLER TSBS CONCERNING THIS CONDITION,I BELIEVE THEY UNDERESTIMATE THE SEVERITY OF THIS CONDITION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED DUE TO TRAFFIC....ENGINE STALLED AND SHUT OFF. ENGINE STARTED AGAIN ON RE-START. I HAD RECENTLY PURCHASED FULL TANK OF FUEL THIS HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY...6 - 26 - 13 ....AGAIN AT LOW SPEED DUE TO MORNING TRAFFIC...STARTED AGAIN ON RE-START....PURCHASED TANK OF GAS AGAIN YESTERDAY...BOTH TIME FROM DIFFERENT STATION. *TR
MY CAR HAS BEGUN STALLING IMMEDIATELY AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK. ORIGINALLY THOUGHT IT WAS BAD FUEL THE FIRST TWO TIMES IT HAPPENED BUT I HAVE NOW HAD THIS OCCUR 5 OR 6 TIMES. THE FIRST COUPLE MILES AFTER LEAVING THE GAS STATION, THE CAR WILL STALL BOTH WHILE IDLING AT A RED LIGHT, AND WHILE ACCELERATING.. *TR
AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK THE CAR STALLED OUT WHILE DRIVING. ITS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A LONG TIME NOW. THIS ONLY ACCRUES AFTER FILLING UP ONLY. *TR
I FILLED MY GAS TANK TO FULL AND IT HESITATES TO START AND ALSO SHUT OFF ON ME ONCE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THERE WAS A BEEPING NOISE THAT SOUNDED THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS PUSHED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF FOR AN HOUR AND WHEN IT WAS RESTARTED IT BEGAN TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED WITHIN TEN MINUTES. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON A REGULAR BASIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THERE WERE NO DIAGNOSTIC TEST PERFORMED NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
I HAD SOME ISSUES WITH MY CAR STALLING AND GETTING STUCK IN GEAR, I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC TO CHANGE THE STRAINER WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE THERE AT HIS SHOP ALONG WITH SOME BODY WORK. AFTER GETTING MY CAR BACK I DROVE IT MAYBE 2 DAYS BEFORE IT COMPLETELY JUST STOPPED GOING INTO GEAR. I CAN CRANK IT UP BUT THE CAR WILL NOT BUDGE. NOW TODAY 5/12/2013 MY BROTHER SHOWED ME A BUTTON THAT IS IN THE GEAR SHIFT THAT YOU CAN PUSH TO GET IT OUT OF GEAR. SO I GUESS THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE BUTTON THAT IS SUPPOSED TO PUSHED THIS IN WHEN YOU PUSH THE BRAKES DOWN IS NO LONGER WORKING. I WAS THINKING TRANSMISSION AND THAT IS NOT MY PROBLEM. *TR
VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN TODAY (OCTOBER 19TH, 2013) WITH NO WARNING WHILE MAKING A LEFT-HAND TURN AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION. FILLED UP EARLIER TODAY WITH NO TOP OFF. HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES PRIOR SINCE (MAY 2013). DEALER CAN NOT DIAGNOSE. NORMALLY HAPPENS AFTER FUEL FILL UP. AFTER COMPLAINING MULTIPLE TIMES TO THE DEALER, REPLACED ALL SPARK PLUGS AND PERFORMED A TRANSMISSION FLUSH AND RE FLASHED THE PCM AT MY EXPENSE, DESPITE HAVING WARRANTY COVERAGE THROUGH 2015 120K MILES BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT REPEAT THE PROBLEM ON A 5 MINUTE TEST DRIVE. THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN TWO DAYS LATER. AFTER MORE VISITS NO SOLUTION HAS BEEN MET AND THIS CAR IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SITTING IDLE IN TRAFFIC, A BUS CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE, CAUSING HIM TO CRASH INTO A PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS AND SUSTAINED BACK INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,762.
WHILE WAITING AT STOP LIGHTS, CAR IDLES FINE. THE MOMENT THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN AND I RELEASE THE BRAKE TO STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR STALLS. THIS HAS HAPPENED UP TO 4 TIMES IN ONE DAY. HAPPENED ONLY ONCE TODAY 3/6/2014.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 60MPH IN THE CENTER LANE DURING BUSY TRAFFIC AND IT WAS DARK, THE VEHICLE JUST SHUT COMPLETELY OFF. I ALSO HAD A MY 14 MONTH BABY IN THE CAR. THERE WAS LOST OF POWER, STEERING WAS LOST. I HAD TO SHIFT IT IN NEUTRAL AND GLIDE TO THE SHOULDER LANE ALMOST BEING HIT BY A TRUCK. I TURNED THE KEY OFF AND TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR, AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS THE CAR STARTED, WHEN I SHIFTED IT IN DRIVE AND PROCEEDED TO TRY AND GET BACK ON THE ROAD IT SHUT OFF AGAIN. THE ENGINE, ABS, TRACTION CONTROL & ELECTRICAL LIGHT WAS ON. I TRIED RESTARTING IT AND IT STARTED AND DROVE LIKE NOTHING HAD HAPPENED, EVEN THE LIGHTS WERE NO LONGER ON. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND TRIED TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THEY COULDN'T HELP ME AND SAYS THAT UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE SAME THING, THEY SAID THAT THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING. THEY SAID THEY WOULD KEEP MY VEHICLE AND TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON, IF THEY DON'T FIND ANYTHING THAN THEY WOULD KEEP IT AND TRY TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND I COULD BE WITHOUT MY CAR UNTIL THEY FIGURE IT OUT. SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT IT HAS HAPPENED AT LEASE 10 MORE TIMES. I RESEARCHED IT ONLINE AND THERE ARE MULTIPLE CASES OF THIS HAPPENING WITH CHRYSLER VEHICLES. THERE IS NOW AN INVESTIGATION ONGOING BUT UNTIL THEN MANY OWNERS HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM OR GO WITHOUT THEIR VEHICLE. MANY HAVE SAID THAT IT HAPPENED AFTER REFUELING THEIR CAR, FOR ME IT HAS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES AFTER REFUELING, BUT MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE IT WAS AT 1/2 AND 1/4 TANK. A REALLY BAD ACCIDENT TO INCLUDE SERIOUS INJURIES AND OR DEATH TO THE DRIVER CAN HAPPEN AND WHAT WILL HAPPEN THEN? BEFORE THIS OCCURS SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE IMMEDIATELY AND THE COMPANY SHOULD PAY FOR THE REPAIRS TO CORRECT HIS ISSUE. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED IMMEDIATELY! *TR

I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE SAME THING, THEY SAID THAT THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING. THEY SAID THEY WOULD KEEP MY VEHICLE AND TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON, IF THEY DON'T FIND ANYTHING THAN THEY WOULD KEEP IT AND TRY TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND I COULD BE WITHOUT MY CAR UNTIL THEY FIGURE IT OUT. I RESEARCHED IT ONLINE AND THERE ARE MULTIPLE CASES OF THIS HAPPENING WITH CHRYSLER VEHICLES. THERE IS NOW AN INVESTIGATION ONGOING BUT UNTIL THEN MANY OWNERS HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM OR GO WITHOUT THEIR VEHICLE. A REALLY BAD ACCIDENT TO INCLUDE SERIOUS INJURIES AND OR DEATH TO THE DRIVER CAN HAPPEN AND WHAT WILL HAPPEN THEN? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS ALLOWING TOO MUCH FUEL INTO THE ENGINE WHICH CAUSED IT TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,500. *TR UPDATED 7/15/13 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A MALFUNCTION OF A VALVE ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK, THAT WAS PART OF THE EMISSION SYSTEM.. RAW FUEL ENTERED THE FUEL CANISTER, WHICH MADE THE ENGINE RICH AND STALLED.
CAR WOULD NO START AFTER SITTING FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES COLD STARTS AND SHORT SHORT STARTS, EVEN STALLING WHILE DRIVING. HAVE TAKEN INTO DEALERSHIP AND THEY CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. *TR
STOPPED FOR GAS ON RT 9 IN NEW JERSEY FILLED TANK GOT BACK ON HIGHWAY WAS DOING 50MPH WHEN CAR STALLED ALMOST GOT HIT BY TRAFFIC CLOSE CALL STARTED RITE UP AGAIN KEPT STALLING. GOT TO SIDE OF ROAD CAR STARTED RITE UP BUT TRYING TO MERGE ON HI WAY WAS SCARY. FINALLY GOT BACK ON HIGHWAY ..JUST THOUGHT WAS BAD GAS. NEXT WEEK GOT GAS IN DIFFERENT GAS STATON KEPT STALLING AGAIN....USING COMPUTER FOUND OUT OTHER PEOPLE HAVING SAME PROBLEM.GAS CANT BE FILLED ..FROM THAT TIME I WAS BUYING LOWER AMOUNTS OF GAS. CAR WAS OK..DISCOVERED THE CAR CAN NEVER BE FILLED UP. CHANGED GAS CAP SAME PROBLEM . I FOUND OUT ITS A DODGE CHARGER PROBLEM IT WILL COST ME $2,000 TO CHANGE FILLER TUBE AND GAS TANK BUT NO WARRANTIES DODGE WILL NOT FIX PROBLEM. *TR
AFTER FILLING THE FUEL TANK THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND HESITATE. THIS HAPPENED WITHIN SEVERAL MILES OF THE GAS STATION. I THOUGHT IT WAS BAD FUEL. LATER AFTER FILLING UP AT A DIFFERENT GAS STATION THE SAME THING OCCURRED. THE THIRD OR FOURTH TIME THIS HAPPENED THE VEHICLE SPUTTERED AND DIED AND THE OIL SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS LAST INCIDENT OCCURRED AS I WAS HEADING FOR A BUSY HIGHWAY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CHRYSLER SERVICE DEPT. WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD NEED A NEW GAS TANK TO FIX THE PROBLEM AS ONE OF THE PARTS THAT FAILED WAS PART OF THE GAS TANK. I ASKED WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TANK IS A "WISHBONE" DESIGN THAT STRADDLES THE DRIVE SHAFT AND OVER TIME THE TANK SAGGED ON THE OUTER ENDS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM STOPS AFTER THE GAS LEVEL GOES DOWN. I NO LONGER FILL THE TANK ALL THE WAY AND THE SPUTTERING HASN'T HAPPENED AGAIN. I DON'T OVER FILL THE TANK AND I DON'T LET THE VEHICLE RUN WHILE FUELING. A DANGEROUS PROBLEM. *TR
WHEN OUT OF TOWN I FILLED UP MY DODGE CHARGER AND HEADED TO A HOTEL. ON THE ROAD MY CAR BEGAN TO STALL, BUT NOT COMPLETELY LOSE POWER. WHEN I SLOWED TO MAKE A TURN IT COMPLETELY DIED. AT THE TIME I THOUGHT I HAD GOTTEN BAD GAS, AND HAD MY CAR TOWED AND REPAIRED. HOWEVER, IT CONTINUED TO DO THE SAME THING ONLY AFTER FILLING MY TANK. I TOOK MY CAR TO FIRESTONE FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT I WOULD NEED A NEW FUEL TANK. HE TOLD ME THAT MANY PEOPLE WITH MY CAR HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. I GOOGLED THE ISSUES I WAS HAVING AND SURE ENOUGH HE WAS CORRECT. I EVENTUALLY GOT THE GAS TANK REPLACED AT FIRESTONE AND THERE HASN'T BEEN ANY ISSUES SINCE. *TR
I REFUELED THE GAS TANK WITH HIGH OCTANE GAS, AND WHILE DRIVING THE SHORT DISTANCE HOME, THE ENGINE STALLED THREE TIMES. THIS MADE BRAKING DIFFICULT AND SCARY, AS I WAS IN TRAFFIC. EACH TIME IT STARTED BACK UP, BUT LEFT ME VERY AFRAID OF WRECKING FROM POSSIBLY NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP THE CAR. *TR
AFTER FUELING UP, I PULLED OUT OF THE GAS STATION AND ONTO A MAIN ROAD. ABOUT 300YARDS FROM THE GAS STATION. I ACCELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 40MPH, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION MY CAR "DINGED" THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND MY ENGINE SHUT DOWN. I LOST ALL ABILITY TO TURN, OR BREAK. I HAVE A 2006 DODGE CHARGER R/T WITH THE 5.7. AT LEAST ONCE PER DAY (AND OFTEN MUCH MORE OFTEN), DURING ACCELERATION, CAR WILL GO INTO "LIMP" MODE, WHERE THE ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION WILL STOP PRODUCING POWER TO THE WHEELS. ENGINE LIGHT WILL "DING" AND RPM WILL DROP FROM ACCELERATION RPM DOWN TO ABOUT 2000 RPM AND CAUSE THE CAR TO HESITATE, CREATING AN ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION ON HIGHWAY MERGING. CAR WILL COME BACK ON LINE AFTER ABOUT 1-2 SECONDS, AND RUN NORMALLY. THE MORE I PUSH THE ACCELERATION, THE MORE LIKELY TO OCCUR. ALSO, CAR WILL SIMPLY STALL AT LOW SPEEDS OR WHILE IN IDLE. I BOUGHT THE CAR ABOUT 30 DAYS AGO, AND REPORTED TO THE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY, AND THEY DUPLICATED THE ISSUE. THEY THOUGHT IT COULD BE A SHORT, BUT AFTER 3 HOURS LABOR (THEY COVERED THIS COST), DID NOT CORRECT IT. THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IT IS, AND ARE NEXT LOOKING INTO A TORQUE CONVERTER POSSIBILITY, AND ALSO LOOKING AT THE THROTTLE BODY. NOT SURE AT THIS TIME IF THEY WILL COME GOOD FOR THE FIX IN THE LONG TERM. THIS STALLING LOSS OF POWER AND GOING INTO "LIMP MODE" SEEMS TO BE EXCESSIVELY COMMON ON THESE CARS, ACCORDING TO BLOGS AND DODGE SITES ONLINE. WHILE THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND GREAT WORK WITH SO FAR, THIS SHOULD FALL ON DODGE ITSELF, NOT THE DEALER, TO MAKE GOOD FOR, AS IT SEEMS TO BE A PREVALENT AND DANGEROUS ISSUE. THE CAR HAS BEEN OPERATING JUST FINE. ON THE DATE OF INCIDENT, I PULLED INTO A GAS STATION TO REFUEL, SHUT THE CAR OFF, FILLED THE CAR APPROX. TO 3/4 TANK. I STARTED THE CAR, IT RAN ROUGH THEN DIED. I COULD NOT START IT AGAIN. I TOWED IT TO A MECHANIC FRIEND AND HE LOOKED AT IT. AFTER MUCH INVESTIGATION HE FOUND THAT THE SPARK PLUGS IN CYL. 6 HAD BEEN HIT BY THE PISTON AND BENT THE SPARK PLUG ELECTRODES CLOSED. HE REGAPPED THEM, RE-INSTALLED THEM, STARTED THE ENGINE, SAME RESULT. THIS IS THE 5.7L HEMI V8. *TR

IN THE LAST YEAR I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE FRONT TIE RODS REPLACED THREE TIME. *TR
ENGINE STALLS AND DIES AFTER FILLING UP CAR. USUALLY DIES 4 TIMES THAN NO MORE PROBLEMS UNTIL I FILL THE CAR UP AGAIN. I HAVE WORKED WITH MY MECHANIC FOR ALMOST 1 YEAR TRYING TO FIND THE PROBLEM. THE SOLUTIONS SO FAR IS TO NOT FILL THE TANK UP ALL THE WAY. CAR COMPLAINTS.COM SHOW THAT NHTSA IS INVESTIGATING THESE COMPLAINTS. I CALL CHRYSLER ASSISTANCE ABOUT THE WARRANTY ON THE FUEL TANK BEING EXTENDED TO LIFE TIME TO COVER THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY SAID THEY DID NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT. AFTER FILLING MY CAR AT THE GAS STATION, CAR WOULD STALL DURING ACCELERATION IMMEDIATELY FILLING GAS TANK. IT WOULD CHOKE OR TRY TO CUT OFF WHEN APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. SOMETIMES EVENTUALLY SHUTTING OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF ROAD, REQUIRING MULTIPLE KEY TURNS TO GET VEHICLE STARTED AGAIN.

WHILE THE CAR DID SPUTTER, I WAS ABLE TO GET TO WORK SAFELY. I ONLY EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE IF THE CAR IS FULLY GASSED UP. IF I HEAR A HISSING SOUND FROM THE TANK, I KNOW THAT THE CAR IS NOT GOING TO STAY STARTED. *TR
ON 03/21/2013, AT APPROXIMATELY 1830 HOURS MY CAR WOULD NOT START FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I HAD TO GET MY VEHICLE TOWED TO MY HOUSE WHERE A MECHANIC EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND OBSERVED WATER LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE. HE STATED THE CAR WAS OVERHEATING WHEN THE GAUGE NEVER DOCUMENTED SUCH A THING. HE ALSO STATED THAT THERE IS A DAMAGED HEAD GASKET AND MAY HAVE ADDITIONAL DAMAGE DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE IS MAKING A "WEIRD" NOISE AND THE ONLY WAY TO DIAGNOSE ANY FURTHER PROBLEMS IS THROUGH TAKING THE ENGINE APART. I DON'T KNOW HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN TO A 2006 VEHICLE. NEVER PURCHASING ANOTHER DODGE EVER AGAIN. THIS VEHICLE NEVER GAVE ME ANY PROBLEMS AND NOW ALL THIS MECHANICAL STUFF HAPPENED OUT OF THE BLUE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A POLICE IMPOUND LOT AND WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
TOOK CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR TUNE-UP;AND TRANSMISSION SERVICE ON MARCH13, 2013; ON APRIL 17, 2013 THE CAR TOTALLY SHUTDOWN AS I TURNED INTO THE GAS STATION. I GOT IT STARTED, IT JERKED AS IF IT WAS CHOKING,I MANAGED TO GET TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT SHUT DOWN AGAIN,JUST BEFORE I MADE IT UP TO THE SERVICE LANE AT THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR AXLE SEALS WERE LEAKING, WHICH I HAD REPAIRED,ALSO THAT AN UPDATED MEMORY CHIP SHOULD HAVE BEEN INSTALLED IN MARCH,SO THAT WAS DONE. PICKUP MY CAR ON APRIL 18, 2013 AND WHILE SITTING IN TRAFFIC, THE CAR WAS SHAKING AND FELT AS THOUGH IT WAS ABOUT TO CUTOFF. I PUT IN PARK WHILE AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT AND PRESSED ON THE GAS TO RAISE THE ENGINE;AS I TURNED INTO MY DRIVEWAY, IT STALLED AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP,THEY INITIALLY SAID THERE WAS A COIL THAT WAS MISFIRING BUT THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE COULD NOT DETECT IT. I PICKED MY CAR UP ON APRIL 25, 2013 ONLY TO HAVE SOMETHING ELECTRICALLY DRAINING MY BATTERY DOWN TO 4 OR 5 VOLTS EVERY OTHER DAY. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, TECHNICIAN SAID THEIR DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE BATTERY,ALTERNATOR NOR ANY OF ELECTRICAL PARTS. I HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR PRIOR TO HAVING THE ABOVE SERVICES DONE. AFTER SPEAKING WITH A MECHANIC, I WAS TOLD THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON HAVING THESE TYPE OF PROBLEMS, ESPECIALLY AFTER A NEW SOFTWARE CHIP HAS BEEN INSTALLED. PERHAPS THIS AND OTHER ISSUES NEED TO REALLY BE ADDRESSED WITH CHRYSLER. *TR

TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE SAID THE ERROR CODE WAS CONTAMINATED OIL. I HAD RECENTLY HAD OIL CHANGED, BUT HE CHANGED IT AGAIN AND IT DIDN'T DO IT FOR A FEW MONTHS. IT HAS NOW STARTED DING IT AGAIN, EVERYTIME I FILL THE TANK WITH GAS..AM TAKING IT TO DEALER TOMORROW (11-2013). *TR

FILLED GAS TANK TILL THE PUMP AUTO SHUT OFF. PULLED OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY, ACCELERATED TO ABOUT 20 MPH, LET OFF TO TURN AT NEXT INTERSECTION AND CAR STALLED. RESTARTED AND PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. WAITED 10 MINUTES AND RESTARTED, RAN ROUGH UNTIL GOT BACK ON INTERSTATE. HAS HAPPENED AGAIN ON 6/6/2013. *TR
WAS COMING DOWN A HILL WHEN MY ENGINE DIED AND THE DASHBOARD CHIME STARTED RINGING, PLUS THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON. WAS VERY LUCKY BEING ABLE TO WRESTLE THE CAR, STILL GOING DOWNHILL WITH NO POWER DRIVING OR POWER BRAKE ASSIST, INTO A 7-11 JUST BEFORE A MAJOR INTERSECTION (FOUR LANES ONE WAY, SIX LANES CROSSWISE). CALLED A TOW TRUCK. HAD BEEN SITTING THERE FOR A HALF HOUR AND ON A LARK WE TRIED TO START IT UP AGAIN--AND IT DID START (IMMEDIATELY AFTER INCIDENT, I COULD NOT START). BUT I WAS UNSURE OF RELIABILITY SO HAD IT TOWED TO SHOP, WHICH COULD FIND NO PROBLEM. DROVE IT AWAY THE NEXT DAY AND DID RESEARCH, AND FOUND MULTIPLE REPORTS IN AN ENTHUSIAST FORUM (CHARGERFORUMS.COM) SAYING THIS ISSUE AFFECTED THEM AFTER THE GAS TANK WAS FILLED. BELIEF IS FLAW IN VALVE LEADING TO EVAP SYSTEM--NO ONE WITH NEW CHARGERS SEEMS TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM, PERHAPS RESIDE BUILDUP OVER TIME (ONE FORUM MEMBER, AFTER REPLACING TANK, CUT SECTION AWAY WITH VALVE AND REPORTED ACCUMULATED RESIDE ON VALVE). ONLY KNOWN SOLUTION SAID TO BE REPLACEMENT OF GAS TANK (BECAUSE VALVE IS BURIED IN TANK) OR NOT FILLING UP ALL THE WAY. SINCE THEN, I HAVE ONLY FILLED GAS TANK TO 3/4 MARK MOST OF THE TIME. THAT ELIMINATED THE PROBLEM EXCEPT FOR TWO MORE INCIDENTS WHEN I WAS CARELESS AND LET IT FILL CLOSE TO TOTALLY FULL. *EVERYONE* WHO GETS NEW GAS TANK REPORTS THIS PROBLEM AS SOLVED. MILEAGE ABOVE IS APPROXIMATE. *TR
THE CAR WOULD LOSE ALL POWER WITHIN A 10TH OF MILE AFTER FILLING UP WITH GASOLINE. THE CAR GIVES NO WARNING SIGNALS, BUT STALLS OUT. THIS HAPPEN ALSO WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS A FOURTH OF TANK OF GAS. THE CAR WOULD RESTART, WITHIN MINUTES AFTER PLACING IT IN PARK. ( REMIND YOU I AM SITTING IN MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY WITH NO TAIL LIGHTS, OR FLASHERS) THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN OF MINE. I WAS LUCKY THAT I DID NOT GET REAR ENDED WHEN THE CAR STALLED DURING "RUSH HOUR" TRAFFIC. THE NEXT DAY, I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE PROBLEM CHECKED AND FIXED. I WAS INFORMED THE FUEL TANK CANISTER HAD A VALVE THAT WAS OPERATING INCORRECTLY CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THE FUEL TANK AND CANISTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TOTAL COST TO ME WAS $1548.00. THE COST WAS HIGH, BUT THE CHANCE OF GETTING INTO A WRECK AND CAUSING INJURIES WAS WORTH THE PRICE TO FIX TO ME. I FEEL SINCE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH OTHER 2006 CHARGERS AN INVESTIGATION OF THE PART NEEDS TO HAPPEN BEFORE SOMEONE DOES GET KILLED. *TR
