THE ABS, BRAKE AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON. THEN WHEN YOU HIT THE BRAKES YOU WOULD FEEL A VIBRATION. THE BRAKES DO NOT VIBRATE ANY MORE BUT ALL THE LIGHTS ARE STILL ON. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2007 CHARGER FOR THIS BUT NOT THE 2006. *TR
ON FEB. 27TH, 2012, I STARTED MY CAR IN AN ATTEMPT TO DRIVE TO WORK. THE CAR STARTED UP FINE. I TRIED TO SHIFT FROM THE PARK POSITION TO REVERSE, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO ANY OTHER GEAR - IT WAS STUCK ON PARK. I FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE MANUAL WHICH ADVISED TO PRESS THE OVERRIDE SWITCH LOCATED IN THE COMPARTMENT NEAR THE SHIFTER. THIS DID NOT WORK. INSTEAD, I HAD TO TOW MY CAR TO THE NEAREST AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND WAS PRESENTED WITH A BILL OF $456 FOR PARTS AND LABOR TO REPAIR THE SHIFTER. APPARENTLY, THIS IS HAPPENING WITH MANY DODGE CHARGERS, YET A RECALL ON THIS HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND THERE IS A FORUM WHERE PEOPLE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE COMPLAIN OF THE SAME THINGS. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY AND DODGE NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. STARTED THE CAR, PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND PROCEEDED TO SHIFT THE GEAR INTO DRIVE. MY GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT MOVE OUT OF PARK AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS, FORCE AND EFFORT. CALLED AAA AND WHEN THE AAA DRIVER CAME I EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT MY GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT COME OUT OF PARK. THE DRIVER EXPLAINED TO ME THAT HE GETS OVER 100 CALLS A WEEK FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE DRIVER REMOVED THE TOP OFF OF MY GEAR CASE AND SHOWED ME HOW TO RELEASE THE CABLE TO GET THE GEAR SHIFT TO COME OUT OF PARK. I FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT MY CAR'S VIN # IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. IT IS AN INSULT AND DEPRESSING THAT SUCH AN ASTRONOMICAL NUMBER OF CHRYSLER VEHICLES ARE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM, HOWEVER ONLY A CERTAIN NUMBER OF VEHICLES ARE RECOGNIZED AS BEING UNDER THE RECALL. I WAS READY TO LEAVE WORK FOR THE NIGHT AND MY CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK WE TRIED TO USE THE EMERGENCY RELEASE BUTTON ON THE SIDE OF THE GEAR SHIFT BUT IT DIDN'T WORK.I CALLED A MECHANIC AND HE CAME OUT GOOGLED THE PROBLEM AND SAW THAT IT MAY HAVE BEEN A SHIFTER ASSEMBLY DEFECT,AS HE LOOKED AT THE ASSEMBLY THERE WAS NOTED TO B A CABLE WIRE THE WAS ALSO DISLODGED,HE ADVISED ME TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A DODGE DEALER FOR REPAIR.THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE ENTIRE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY AND CABLE HAD TO BE INSTALLED. *TR
AFTER REFUELING, THE CAR STALLED UPON MODERATE ACCELERATION. I THOUGHT IT WAS A ONE TIME ISSUE, BUT TOOK IT TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP AFTER THE THIRD INCIDENT. THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ONLINE, I FOUND THAT THE PROBLEM IS APPARENTLY WITH A PURGE SOLENOID VALVE THAT CANNOT BE REPLACED WITHOUT THE ENTIRE GAS TANK BEING REPLACED, AS WELL AS THE EVAP CANISTER. THE CAR HAS BEEN DOING THIS MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY, ALMOST TO THE POINT OF DOING IT EVERY FILL UP. IF IT DOESN'T STALL WHEN THE ENGINE IS RESTARTED, IT DOES IT RANDOMLY WITHIN A FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING. EITHER WHILE ACCELERATING, OR CRUISING. THIS IS A LARGE SAFETY ISSUE, AS MY WIFE DRIVES THIS CAR INTO THE CITY OF CINCINNATI FOR WORK, AND THE CAR HAS STALLED AFTER SHE REFUELS. WE ARE NOT LEAVING THE ENGINE RUNNING DURING REFUELING, AND WE ARE NOT TOPPING OFF THE TANK. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ONLINE AND IT APPEARS TO BE HAPPENING TO SEVERAL PEOPLE. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED SPORADICALLY ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, AND I HAVE BARELY AVOIDED CRASHING A FEW TIMES WHEN THE CAR STALLED WHILE I WAS TURNING. I HAVE A 2006 DODGE CHARGER R/T AND EVERY TIME I FILL UP THE CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING, SOMETIMES AT SLOW SPEEDS OR ONCE YOU MAKE A COMPLETE STOP. IT HAS HAPPENED SINCE 2012. I TAKE CARE OF THIS VEHICLE. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE GAS WHICH I CHANGED THE GAS OCTANE AND STILL THE SAME RESULTS. I THOUGHT THE ISSUE WOULD PASS BUT IT HASN'T. I HAVE STALLED IN TRAFFIC BY THE GRACE OF GOD I WASN'T HIT. TOOK THE CAR TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP A FEW TIMES THEY STILL CAN'T SEEM TO FIND A REASON AS TO WHY IT STALLS. I TALKED WITH A GUY ONE DAY AND HE SAID THAT HIS WIFE CAR HAS DONE IT AND NOT TO FILL UP OR REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM. WHY WOULD I NOT FILL UP IF I'M TRAVELING ESPECIALLY OUT OF TOWN AND WHY REPLACE THE SAME FUEL SYSTEM THAT'S GOING TO EVENTUALLY GIVE THE SAME RESULTS. SOONER OR LATER SOMETHING BAD IS GOING TO HAPPEN AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT IT. REALLY, WHO KNOWS IF IT'S GOING TO STALL EVEN IF YOU DON'T FILL UP AND STALL AT THE WRONG TIME AND SOMEONE GETS IN AN ACCIDENT GETTING SERIOUSLY INJURED OR POSSIBLY DEATH DUE TO SOMETHING AS FILLING UP A VEHICLE. RIDICULOUS YOUR LIFE COULD BE IN DANGER DUE TO PUTTING FUEL IN YOUR VEHICLE AND NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THERE'S A COMPLAINT ABOUT IT LOOKS LIKE NOTHING WILL GET DONE UNTIL SOMEONE ACTUALLY LOSE THEIR LIFE. I HAVE A 2006 DODGE CHARGER RT 5.7L HEMI. I JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS CAR. AT TIMES WHEN I AM ACCELERATING QUICKLY OR PRESS WIDE OPEN THROTTLE THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF FOR A SECOND AND THEN CUTS RIGHT BACK ON. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AS WELL AS THE LIGHTNING BOLT ICON FLASHES AND I ALSO HEAR A CHIME AS WELL. THE RPMS DROP ALL THE WAY TO ZERO AS IF IT IS STALLING AND LOSING ALL POWER BUT IMMEDIATELY CUTS RIGHT BACK ON. THROUGH RESEARCH I HAVE NOTICED THIS IS AN ON-GOING PROBLEM WITH A LOT OF CHARGER OWNERS AND A RECALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN ISSUED BY DODGE BY NOW BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER R/T. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE STARTED THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK, BUT THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THEY STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT CLIP FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 96,000.
AFTER FUELING MY 2006 DODGE CHARGER R/T, THE CAR WILL BEGIN TO SPUTTER AND COMPLETELY SHUT-OFF. THIS RESULTS IN THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND HAVING TO PUT THE CAR INTO PARK IN ORDER TO RESTART. IT WILL OCCUR MULTIPLE TIMES, SOMETIMES WHILE IDLING, BEFORE IT WILL BEGIN TO ACT NORMALLY.IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. AT FIRST, IT WAS SPORADIC BUT NOW IT IS EVERYTIME I FILL UP THE GAS TANK. IT CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS AS IT CAN HAPPEN ANYTIME AND WITHOUT WARNING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WHENEVER HE DROVE A QUARTER OF A MILE AFTER REFUELING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ROLL OVER VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 70,000. UPDATED 06/12/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE VALVE ONLY BE REPLACED BY REPLACING THE GAS TANK. UPDATED 06/13/12
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED CONTINUOUSLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO HAS NOT DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
GEAR SHIFTER WAS PUT IN PARK WOULD NOT COME OUT OF PARK COULD NOT PUT IT IN GEAR, 2007 AND 2008 HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR THAT PROBLEM AND SERVICE HAS BEEN ACCOMMODATED AT DEALERSHIP. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT FAILS TO RETRACT COMPLETELY, CAUSING THE METAL CLIP TO GET CAUGHT IN THE DOOR WELL WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THE CLIP WEDGES THE DOOR SHUT AND THE DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED FROM INSIDE, TRAPPING THE DRIVER INSIDE THE CAR. THE DOOR CAN BE OPENED FROM OUTSIDE WITH CONSIDERABLE EFFORT. DENTS REMAIN IN THE DOOR WELL AS EVIDENCE OF THE CLIP WEDGING THE DOOR SHUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES. DATE OF THE FIRST INCIDENCE AND MILEAGE ARE ESTIMATED.
5.7L HEMI ENGINE. FOR THE PAST 2 YRS, ENGINE WILL STALL AFTER FILLING-UP THE GAS TANK. THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN AFTER EVERY FILL-UP, BUT OCCURS AT RANDOM FILL-UP INTERVALS. THE ENGINE WILL STALL MULTIPLE TIMES UNTIL IT'S BURNED OFF APPROXIMATELY 1 GALLON OF GAS, THEN OPERATES NORMALLY. STALLING MOSTLY OCCURS WHEN VEHICLE COMES TO A STOP. HOWEVER, I'VE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES WHEN THE STALL OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH. *TR
VEHICLE WILL NOT COME OUT OF PARK DUE TO FAILED SHIFT INTERLOCK MECHANISM. SHIFT INTERLOCK FAILS DUE TO A 1/8 INCH TAB BREAKING OFF AND RELEASING THE SPRING NOT ALLOWING THE DRIVER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK. THE VEHICLE STILL STARTS BUT WILL NOT MOVE. THIS PROBLEM WILL MAKE IT APPEAR THIS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLES TRANSMISSION. THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH SEVERAL DODGE CHARGER(S) AND CHRYSLER 300 VEHICLES. WHEN ENGAGED IN PARK, WILL NOT DISENGAGE, EVEN WITH USE OF EMERGENCY RELEASE DETENT. WILL ONLY RELEASE WITH USE OF HIDDEN RELEASE AT FRONT OF SHIFTER, AND IF REENGAGED INTO PARK, WILL REOCCUR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE CONTACT CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO HAVE THE VEHICLE MOVED. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE GEAR SHIFT COVER TO UNLOCK THE GEAR SHIFT. THE CONTACT WAS THEN ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURE WERE NOTIFIED, BUT THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC NOTICED ENGINE SLUDGE AND ADVISED THAT THE BUILD UP OF SLUDGE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT ANTI-FREEZE MIXED WITH THE OIL AND CAUSED THE SLUDGE BUILD-UP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
EVERY TIME YOU FILL UP THE GAS TANK THE CAR WANTS TO STALL. I'M TOLD THERE IS A SOLENOID IN THE GAS TANK THAT FAILS AND IT LETS RAW FUEL GO TO THE EVAP CANISTER CAUSING A STALL CONDITION. THIS SOLENOID VALVE IS MOLDED INTO THE GAS TANK AND THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT IS TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK. THIS STALL CAN HAPPEN WHILE YOUR SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT OR JUST PULLING OUT INTO AN INTERSECTION. THE INTERSECTION SITUATION IS VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
VEHICLE STALLS AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS DUE TO A FAULTY VALVE IN THE GAS TANK. COULD CAUSE A COLLISION IF THE CAR STALLS IN FRONT OF ON COMING TRAFFIC. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ONLY COMMON TO THE CHARGER BUT TO ALL CHRYSLER VEHICLES. THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE VALVE IS NOT SERVICEABLE. *TR
AT CERTAIN SPEEDS MY VEHICLE WILL VIBRATE. GOING OVER SPEED BUMPS OR INTO EVEN THE SLIGHTEST POT HOLE THE VEHICLE WILL VIBRATE. WHEN SLOWING DOWN OR COMING TO A STOP THE FRONT END WILL VIBRATE. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED MY FRONT TIRES NEEDED TO BE CHANGED AND/OR ROTATED TO THE BACK DUE TO AN UNUSUAL WEARING ON THE TIRES. THE WEAR WAS ON THE OUTISDE OF THE TIRES. WHEN TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK INTO CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT THEY ADVISED I WILL PROBABLY SOON BE NEEDING NEW TIRE ROD ENDS AND THIS IS WHAT MAY HAVE CAUSED MY FRONT TIRES TO WEAR SO EASILY. ESPECIALLY PURCHASING THE CAR USED IN JULY 2010 WITH ALL BRAND NEW TIRES AND NOW NEEDING TO REPLACE ALL FOUR AND ITS ONLY DECEMBER 2011. SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANAGER ADVISED THIS WAS A BIG ISSUE WITH THE EARLY MODEL CHARGERS BUT CHRYSLER STILL HAS YET TO ISSUE A RECALL. I PROLONGED TAKING THE VEHICLE IN TO PURCHASE NEW TIRE RODS. I WENT IN RECENTLY FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE SERVICE MANAGER ADVISED ME I NO LONGER NEED TO BE DRIVING MY VEHICLE WITH THE RODS I HAVE ON. IT WAS A RECOMMENDATION EARLIER BUT NOW HE IS HIGHLY ADVISING ME NOT TO DRIVE. WITHIN 3 OIL CHANGES THE RODS HAVE DIMINISHED GREATLY. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE CHRYSLER IS LETTING THE PURCHASERS TAKE THE BUTT-END OF THIS ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE GEAR LEVER FAILED TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE. AFTER WAITING A FEW MOMENTS, THE GEAR SHIFT CABLE WAS SLIGHTLY MOVED INTO A DIFFERENT POSITION IN ORDER FOR THE GEAR TO SHIFT CORRECTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT OF A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V583000 (POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: LEVER AND LINKAGE: COLUMN SHIFT). THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
THE CAR BUCKED AND ACTED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL ENTERING THE FREEWAY. THIS HAPPENED AFTER FILLING UP WITH FUEL AT THE GAS STATION. THIS CONDITION HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORST. WHEN I FILL UP, I CAN ONLY FILL TO APPROXIMATELY 3/4 FULL TANK IN ORDER TO PREVENT STALLING WHEN STOPPING OR ACCELERATING AROUND A TURN. APPARENTLY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ROLL OVER VALVE ON THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. IT STOPS WORKING OVER TIME AND ALLOWS RAW FUEL TO ENTER THE EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM THAT IS ONLY DESIGNED TO HANDLE VAPORS. THIS CAUSES THE BUCKING, STALLING CONDITION. THIS CONDITION IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC. THIS VALVE IS NOT A SERVICED ITEM AND ONLY COMES WITH THE FUEL TANK. THE COST OF A NEW FUEL TANK IS ABOUT $800 + LABOR. DODGE SHOULD REPLACE THE TANK FOR A MINIMAL FEE BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT. PLEASE PURSUE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED DUE TO THIS ISSUE. *TR
APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH AGO, THIS PROBLEM STARTED TO OCCUR; AFTER FUELING UP THE VEHICLE WILL START TO STALL RANDOMLY AND CONTINUOUSLY. NO MATTER WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. AFTER LOOKING THE PROBLEM UP ON THE INTERNET, I DISCOVERED THAT THERE HAS BEEN THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME MAKE/MODEL VEHICLE, ALONG WITH SIMILAR MODEL VEHICLE, AS I AM. APPARENTLY THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF BUT DO NOT WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM OR RECALL IT TO HAVE IT FIXED. FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING ON THE INTERNET THE PROBLEM IS OCCURRING IN THE FUEL TANK, WHERE THE FUEL CONTROL VALVE ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK (ONLY SERVICED WITH THE TANK), FAILS AND ALLOWS RAW LIQUID FUEL TO ENTER THE EVAP SYSTEM. A SHORT TIME AFTER START UP, THE PCM ACTUATES THE PURGE SOLENOID TO PURGE THE VAPORS FROM THE CANISTER. RECENTLY I STARTED HAVING AN ISSUE WITH MY CHARGER. UPON ENTERING A HIGH WAY AND ATTEMPTING TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC DURING MORNING RUSH HOUR, MY CAR LOST ALL POWER UPON ACCELERATION. THE ENGINE DID NOT STALL BUT THE TACHOMETER DROPPED TO NEAR ZERO, THE ENGINE LIGHT AND POWER LIGHT FLASHED BRIEFLY AND THEN RETURNED TO NORMAL. I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AGAIN AND SAME THING HAPPENED. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO AVOID A PRETTY SIGNIFICANT ACCIDENT WITH THE CARS BEHIND ME AND THE ONES I WAS MERGING ON TO THE HIGHWAY WITH. THE SYMPTOMS DISAPPEARED FOR A FEW WEEKS AND THEN STARTED AGAIN AND PROGRESSIVELY BECAME WORSE. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER THAT INVESTIGATED AND FOUND IT TO BE THE POWER CONTROL MODULE WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE QUITE EXPENSIVE. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON A FORUM THAT I BELONG TO AND FOUND MANY INSTANCES OF THIS. CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND SIMPLY PUT THEY DID NOT SEEM TO CARE. THERE ARE MANY DEFECTS ON THIS YEAR OF CHARGER AND NOT ONE OF THEM HAS EVER BEEN COVERED, AT LEAST THE ONES THAT I HAVE. I CONSIDER THIS LATEST INCIDENT TO BE SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM AND HOPE THAT IT GETS INVESTIGATED. AS FOR ANOTHER CHRYSLER PRODUCT, NEVER AGAIN IN MY LIFETIME. ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT DAYS AND TIMES, THE 2006 DODGE CHARGER CUTS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING, WHEN CAR COMES TO A HALT/STOP AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN AND THE ENGINE CUTS COMPLETELY OFF YET THE RADIO AND LIGHTS STILL WORK. JUST TODAY, TRAVELLING WITHIN 7-8 MILES FROM MY WORK TO HOME THE CAR CUT OFF 6 TIMES AND I AM SCARED TO DEATH THAT THIS CAR WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. MY CAR WAS RECALLED FOR THE COOLING FANS LETTING MY CAR OVERHEAT. THE DEALER REPLACES THE FANS AND THE ASKS IF I WANT HIM TO FIX MY OVERHEATING ISSUE. I THOUGHT THAT WAS WHY MY COOLING FANS WERE THE ISSUE. IT STOPPED OVERHEATING FOR A MONTH MAYBE AT MOST THE I HAD TO HAVE A NEW RADIATOR, T-STAT, AND WATER PUMP. WITHIN A COUPLE WEEKS ON MY WAY TO MY DOCTOR THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE DROPPED TO 140 AND DIED. I STARTED IT UP AND IT HAS A QUICK KNOCKING NOISE THAT SEEM TO TICK TOO QUICKLY TO BE A ROD PLUS THE CAR DOESN'T DIE. I TURNED IT OFF AFTER HEARING THE KNOCKING AND HAD IT TOWED HOME. I BOUGHT MY 2006 DODGE CHARGER R/T BRAND NEW IN JUNE OF 2006. I ALWAYS FILLED THE TANK WITH GAS UNTIL THE PUMP AUTOMATICALLY SHUTOFF. I NEVER TOPPED OFF WITH GAS OR CONTINUED FILLING THE TANK ONCE THE PUMP WOULD AUTOMATICALLY STOP. THIS WAS NEVER A PROBLEM FOR 5 YEARS. LAST YEAR IN OCTOBER OF 2011 AT AROUND 73,000 MILES THE CAR WOULD STALL AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE OCCASIONALLY RIGHT AFTER FILLING UP IN LIVE TRAFFIC USUALLY AT A STOP LIGHT OR PARKING LOT DRIVEWAY. I WOULD HAVE TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER FROM DRIVE TO PARK SINCE THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND RESTART THE CAR WITH NO PROBLEM. TODAY AT 75,600 MILES ON MARCH 27, 2012; I FILLED UP AS USUAL AND THE CAR ENGINE TURNED OFF IN TRAFFIC ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. I READ ON CHRYSLER OWNERS' FORUMS ONLINE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH PLENTY OF CHRYSLER VEHICLES AND CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF IT. THE FIX IS A WHOLE NEW FUEL TANK WITH A BETTER FUEL VAPOR VALVE AND THE COST WOULD RUN $1300-$2000 FOR VARIOUS CAR, VAN, AND TRUCK OWNERS. THE ONLY OTHER METHOD I WAS ADVISED BY A DODGE SERVICE ADVISOR WAS NOT TO FILL THE CAR UP ALL THE WAY, PERHAPS TO 3/4 OF A TANK FULL.
