THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
DRIVING ABOUT 60 MPH ON HIGHWAY. NOTICED IT WAS DRIVING ROUGH. TOOK IT TO MY FRIENDS HOUSE WHERE IT STARTED SMOKING. PARKED IT AND HAD IT TOWED TO SHOP. THEY SAY PISTON #4 BROKE, CYLINDER IS SHOT, NEEDS NEW ENGINE.
MY 2006 CHARGER RT BEGINS TO STALL OUT EVERY TIME AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK. IN FACT, ANYTHING PAST 2/3 OF A TANK WILL CAUSE THIS ISSUE. THE STALL GENERALLY HAPPENS WHILE AT A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT, WHEN THE RPMS ARE LOW. THE ONLY WAY TO CONTINUE IS TO TURN THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF AND RESTART IT WHILE PUMPING THE GAS. IF I AM ABLE TO GET TO THE HIGHWAY AND UP TO SPEED BEFORE STALLING OUT THE ENGINE SPUTTERS AND THE RPMS DIP A COUPLE OF TIMES BEFORE STABILIZING. THIS ONLY HAPPENS ~3-10 MINUTES AFTER PUTTING GAS IN THE TANK. I DRIVE A 2006 DODGE CHARGER RT. IT JUST RECENTLY PASSED THE 100K MILEAGE AFTER A ~600 MILE TRIP HOME TO SEE THE FAMILY. I'VE HAD THIS PROBLEM OCCUR MANY TIMES OVER THE PAST 1-2 YEARS AND I AM BECOMING WORRIED THAT THIS MAY BE A COMMON ISSUE. AFTER A BIT OF RESEARCH, I'VE FOUND THAT THIS IS ACTUALLY PRETTY COMMON WITH 2006 CHARGERS AND FEEL THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT DODGE AUGHT TO ADDRESS. PROBLEMS WITH THE GAS TANK AND EVAP SYSTEM IN THIS VEHICLE APPEAR TO BE A FREQUENT OCCURRENCE AND CAN RESULT IN VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. THIS HAS BEEN A MINOR INCONVENIENCE AS OF YET BUT I'M CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD CAUSE VERY SERIOUS PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE, IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY.
WHEN DRIVING AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE THE ENGINE WILL COMPLETELY CUT OUT NOT COMPLETELY STALL THEN KEEP GOING. IT HAS STALLED ON OCCASION BUT MOST OF THE TIME DOES NOT. WHEN SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED PROBLEM GOES AWAY THEN WILL RANDOMLY REOCCUR DAYS LATER. ALSO HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME WHEN A CHEAP METAL PART IN THE START MECHANISM BROKE MY HUSBAND HAD TO TAKE THE IGNITION SWITCH APART TO FIX IT WHEN I CALLED CHRYSLER THEY SAID THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS BUT NOT FOR MY VIN NUMBER. ALSO HAD AN ISSUE WHERE THE CAR WOULD NOT COME OUT OF PARK ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS BUT NOT FOR MY VIN NUMBER.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN OVER TO START THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO DIE RANDOMLY. THIS TIME, THE VEHICLE DIED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE ONTO THE INTERSTATE (FROM THE RAMP). THIS TIME WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND SAID NOTHING ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY THAT IT COULD BE RELATED TO THE FUEL TANK VALVE. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BELIEVES IT IS THE FUEL TANK VALVE AND RECOMMENDED WE CONTACT DODGE BECAUSE THE CAR SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE TSB AND THE TANK BE REPLACED...UPDATED 08/25/15*BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER EACH FILL UP OF THE GAS TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A PISTON IN THE ENGINE SEIZED AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VALVE SEAT DROPPED, WHICH DESTROYED THE CYLINDER WALL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENTIRE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,111.
CAR WOULDN'T START AFTER THREE TRIES. SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING BLEW UP THE FIRST TIME I TRIED STARTING IT. HAD CAR TOWED TO DODGE. IT WAS THERE A WEEK BEFORE THEY LOOKED AT. THEY CALLED US ON A WEDNESDAY SAID THE HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN WAS GONNA COST $4500 TO FIX. THEN THEY CALLED BACK ON A FRIDAY SAID THE PISTONS WERENT' GETTING ANY OIL, ENGINE, NEED TO REPLACE ENGINE. NOW IT'S GONNA COST $8,000. HOW YOU GO FROM $4500 TO $8000 IN A MATTER OF TWO DAYS???
DROVE TO A DENTIST APPOINTMENT, CAME OUT, STARTED CAR, IT MADE A LOUD BOOM THEN SHUT DOWN. TRIED STARTING AGAIN, NO BUENO, WOULDN'T START. HAD IT TOWED TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAY OIL IS NOT GOING INTO THE PISTONS. CYLINDER IS SHOT, NEEDS NEW ENGINE. IT'S BEEN SITTING AT THE SHOP FOR OVER A MONTH NOW. REALLY...A NEW ENGINE THAT'S GONNA COST ME $8,000 NO WARNING, NO SENSORS....NOTHING! JUST HAD CAR SERVICE A FEW MONTHS PRIOR
WE HAD NO WARNING (E.I. ENGINE LIGHT NOT LIT, NOT RUNNING HOT, NO STRANGE SOUNDS, ETC.). THE CAR DIED SO WHEN IT WOULDN'T START UP AFTER TRYING FOR A SECOND TIME, WE TOWED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER HOURS. THE NEXT MORNING WE GET A CALL SAYING THAT THE VALVE SEAT GUIDE FAILED AND AND THE PISTONS WEREN'T GETTING ANY OIL IN THE 4TH CYLINDER OF THE MOTOR. SO THE MOTOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT'S GONNA $8000. IT'S BEEN SITTING AT THE DEALERSHIP GOING ON THREE MONTHS. WITH ALL THESE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME THING, DODGE SHOULD BE DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE DODGE! I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS EVERY SINCE MY CAR MALFUNCTIONED. DODGE/DIAMLER CHRYSLER NEEDS TO BE SUED! I AM WAITING FOR A CLASS ACTION LAW-SUIT TO BE ANNOUNCED-
ENGINE JUST STOPPED WORKING. NO WARNING. CAR WAS JUST SERVICED A FEW MONTHS PRIOR. PRE MATURE ENGINE FAILURE
10 MINUTES AFTER FILLING UP THE CAR COMPLETELY DIED NO POWER STEERING , NO POWER BRAKES NO LIGHTS . CAR RESTARTED THEN DIED A SECOND TIME. BRAKES AND STEERING ARE A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD UNDER THESE CONDITIONS.

MY CAR IS SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING CAUSING UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. I HAVE CHECKED NUMEROUS FORUMS AND MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS COULD RESULT IN A FATALITY. I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR JUST SHUT OFF THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT I WAS NOT ABLE TO START THE CARE AGAIN UNTIL I GOT IT BACK IN PARK. IT HAS HAPPENED 2 TIMES NOW.
NOTE: I AM DOCUMENTING MY MOST RECENT DATE OF INCIDENT BECAUSE THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY INCONSISTENT, UNPREDICTABLE INCIDENCES TO RECALL THE FIRST. THESE ISSUES HAVE GONE ON FOR PROBABLY AT LEAST 3 MONTHS NOW. TODAY WHILE WAITING AT A STOP LIGHT, MY CAR DIED AS LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I GOT READY TO GO. I WAS STILL IN IDLE/ NO ACCELERATION. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND ATTEMPTED TO START. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED AND MOVING BEFORE THE LIGHT CHANGED BUT NOT SOON ENOUGH. I EVEN PUT FLASHERS ON SO DRIVERS BEHIND ME WOULD KNOW I WASN'T GETTING ANYWHERE ON FIRST ATTEMPT AT MOVING. (THIS OCCURRED 2 DAYS PRIOR WHILE WAITING IN LINE OF TRAFFIC---TWICE IN THE PARKING LOT. ON SUNDAY IT DIED AT LEAST 5 TIMES WHILE WAITING IN LONG LINE OF TRAFFIC/CONGESTED PARKING LOT AFTER AN EVENT.) ONCE I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION TONIGHT, I DECIDED TO CHECK FOR CODE AND GOT NONE. THEN AFTER IDLING ABOUT 5 MINUTES IT DIED. I AGAIN STARTED IT AND LET IT IDLE. IT DIED AGAIN. I DID THIS A FEW MORE TIMES WITH SAME RESULT IN EVEN LESS IDLE TIME. I DID NOTICE THAT THE LAST TIME SHOWED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE OIL LIGHT. I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS PART OF THE FUEL TANK ISSUE FOR WHICH I GOT A RECALL LETTER LAST MAY OR NOT. THIS IS GETTING FRUSTRATING. (BY THE WAY, I HAVE A HALF TANK OF GAS. I HAVEN'T REFUELED IN A FEW DAYS.) PRIOR TO THIS RANDOM STALLING IT WOULD 'HICCUP' DURING ACCELERATION. THE RPM'S WOULD PLUMMET AND A CHIME WOULD GO OFF. THIS LASTED MAYBE A SECOND AND THEN RETURNED TO NORMAL. SOME HICCUPS HAVE BEEN MILD WHILE OTHERS WERE JERKY. WHEN I TALKED TO DODGE SERVICE DEPT ABOUT HICCUP THEY DIDN'T THINK THIS WAS FUEL TANK ISSUE. FORTUNATELY, BOTH PROBLEMS AREN'T OCCURRING AT SAME TIME BUT BOTH HAVE BEEN FRUSTRATING. THE HICCUPS HAVEN'T OCCURRED SINCE THE DIEING STARTED. I AM FRUSTRATED AND CONCERNED ABOUT OUR SAFETY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION INTERLOCK LEVER WAS DEFECTIVE. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE SHIFT LEVER REMAINED IN THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000.
VEHICLE JUST DIED FROM PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURE AT 5 MPH AT 515AM ON A FRIDAY.
I WAS DRIVING AROUND WITH SOME FRIENDS ONE NIGHT AND STOPPED TO TALK TO THEM FOR A MINUTE. I DROVE AROUND THE BLOCK AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. WHEN I WENT TO START THE CAR, IT WOULDN'T START AND WHEN IT FINALLY DID, IT SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND SHUT OFF. IT TURNS OUT THAT THE CAR DROPPED A VALVE SEAT AND RUINED THE MOTOR OF THE CAR. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN THE 5.7 HEMI IN THE CHARGERS. I HAVE SEVERAL FRIENDS THAT HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR CHARGER.

THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

AS I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, CHIMES WHEN OFF IN THE CAR THEN THE CAR JUST COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I RESTARTED AND CAR DROVE FINE. THE EXACT SET OF INCIDENTS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES A DAY OVER A COURSE OF A FEW MONTHS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO A LOCAL DODGE DEALER. AFTER SPENDING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS GETTING, TCM, ECM, MAJOR TUNE-UP, SPARK PLUG COILS, SENSORS REPAIRED THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED. I HAVE HAD OVER THREE DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOPS ATTEMPT TO DIAGNOSE THIS ISSUE AND NO ONE COULD FIGURE IT OUT. I NOTICED THAT THE PROBLEM OCCURRED EVEN MORE FREQUENTLY AFTER FILLING UP AT THE GAS STATION. DRIVING LIKE THIS MAKES ME FEEL VERY UNSAFE. THIS CAR HAS STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND IN FREEWAY TRAFFIC. AFTER READING SEVERAL ONLINE THREADS IT APPEARS THAT OTHER 06 CHARGER OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES AND IT TENDS TO POINT TO A FAULTY SENSOR IN THE FUEL TANK. I NEED THIS MATTER RESOLVED. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE.

CAR SHUTS OFF DURING ACCELERATION FROM STOP LIGHT NUMEROUS TIMES. CAR SHUTS OFF AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND STARTS BACK RUNNING WITH A SURGE IN ACCELERATION. THIS HAPPENS WITH AND WITHOUT CRUISE CONTROL ON. GOING UP OR DOWN HILLS AND ON LEVEL PAVEMENT. AMOUNT OF GAS IN TANK DOES NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. CHANGED TO DIFFERENT KEY NO KEYRING WITHOUT CHANGE IN SYMPTOMS. MOBILE 1 SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGED REGULARLY. CAR IS DRIVEN BY OLDER DRIVER WITHIN SPEED LIMIT. PURCHASED CAR NEW WITH NO MILES ON IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT WILL GET SOMEONE KILLED. LAST DRIVE WAS 20 MILES. CAR SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED ITSELF 5 TIMES GOING DOWN THE ROAD AT 40 MPH. I WANT TO REPAIR THE CAR BUT CHRYSLER/DODGE WILL NOT ISSUE A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. FIRST DODGE I HAVE EVER OWNED.
BOTH FRONT WHEES HAVE FALLEN OFF DUE TO FAULTY SUSPENSION COMPONENTS. THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL FELL OFF WHILE AT INTERSTATE SPEED WHEN THE TOP BALL JOINT FAILED. LUCKILY IT FELL INWARD. THE DRIVER SIDE WHEEL FELL OFF WHEN IT WAS PUT UP ON THE RACK AT THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE FAULTY FUEL PUMP. AGAIN, THE UPPER BALL JOINT FAILED.
