TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE GASKETS WERE REPLACED AND NEW TIRES WERE INSTALLED ON MAY 1, 2009. THE ALARM INDICATOR WAS THE ONLY GAUGE HE REMEMBERED ILLUMINATING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 34,725.
REAR LEFT OUTER CV JOINT BROKEN. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2007 DODGE CHARGER SE ON FEB 17 2009. I HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE INCLUDING THE AIRBAG LIGHT BEING ON WHICH THEY FIXED BY RECALIBRATING THE UNIT. THE LEFT WASHER FLUID MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE PASSENGER HEADLIGHT HAD CONDENSATION THAT WAS POORLY REPAIRED BY PLACING SILCONE AROUND MY HEADLIGHT. THE SHOP ALSO SAID THAT THEY HAD TO RECALIBRATE THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE IT WAS SLIPPING AND WAS CAUSING MY SPEEDOMETER TO DROP TO 0 BUT THE RPM WOULD NEVER MOVE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT LOSE POWER. ON MARCH 7 I DROVE 90 MILES AWAY FROM HOME WHEN I EXITED MY VEHICLE AND GOT ABOUT 10 FEET AWAY THE CAR EXPLODED IN FLAMES. THE CAR DROVE BEAUTIFULLY THE ENTIRE TRIP NEVER HESITATED AND NEVER OVERHEATED, NEVER INDICATED ANY KIND OF PROBLEM!!!! THE ENTIRE FRONT OF MY CAR TO THE DASH WAS COMPLETELY MELTED WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF THE CAR EXPLODING. LUCKILY I DID NOT HAVE MY CHILDREN WITH ME AND I WAS NOT IN HOME AS I PARK MY NEW VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE, I WOULD HAVE LOST EVERYTHING I OWN. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO BUST OUT THE REAR WINDOW TO GET MY PURSE BECAUSE THE ONLY KEY HOLE IS IN THE FRONT DOOR AND THE FOB WOULD NOT WORK TO UNLOCK THE CAR. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD!!! IF MY 2 SMALL CHILDREN HAD BEEN IN THE CAR I WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET THEM OUT IN TIME BECAUSE OF HOW FAST THE CAR EXPLODED!!! THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DETERMINED THAT IT WAS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM UNDER THE HOOD. THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM 2 WEEKS AGO TOLD ME TO GO '!@#$%MYSELF AND DEAL WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY THAT IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM. AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS CYCLE UNCONTROLLED TO THE LOCK POSITION, SEVERAL TIMES A MINUTE. AUTO FEATURE WORKS, THEN CONTINUES. LOCK MODE ONLY. *TR
PEBBLES OR DEBRIS HAS ENTERED THE LOWER COOLING VALANCE ON MY 2007 DODGE CHARGER IS TO WIDE, WHICH ALLOWS ANY AND ALL DEBRIS TO DAMAGE THE AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER. WHICH DODGE DOES NOT COVER OR RECOGNIZE AS A DESIGN FLAW. THE A/C CONDENSER IS EXPOSED TO ANY AND ALL OBJECTS COMING THROUGH THAT PARTICULAR AREA. THE 3 LBS OF FREON RELEASED TO THE ATMOSPHERE, WHICH WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION THE FREON WILL GO THROUGH ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND EVENTUALLY END UP IN THE PASSENGER AREA. FREON IS A OXYGEN DISPLACEMENT TYPE GAS WHICH CAN CAUSE SICKNESS, VOMITING,HYPOXIO AND EVENTUALLY SUFFOCATION. THIS IS A POSSIBLE SAFETY HAZARD. FREON 134A ALSO EXPELS A TOXIC GAS IF EXPOSED TO TEMPS ABOVE 452F WHICH CATALYTIC CONVERTERS REACH TEMPS ABOVE 500F. *TR
MY DAUGHTER HAD WARPED ROTORS REPLACED BY LOCAL MECHANIC AND INFORMED SHE NEEDED RACK AND PINION REPLACED. ALSO CONTROL ARM AND TIE ROD END. AN EXTRA $1100 ON TOP OF ROTOR COSTS. IS THIS CAR SAFE FOR HER AND HER TWO YEAR OLD SON TO BE ON THE HIGHWAYS WITH ? DODGE SHOULD BE ASHAMED. SUBMITTED BY CONCERNED FATHER/GRANDPA. HOPE THIS SAVES A LIFE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR HAS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AT LEAST THREE TIMES. NO STEERING, NO POWER NOTHING. ALSO WHILE SITTING AT SIGNALS OR STOP SIGNS MY CAR SEEMS TO SURGE OCCASIONALLY, TO WHERE IT FEELS LIKE I HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE AND THEY SAID THEY CANNOT "SEEM TO REPLICATE" THE PROBLEM. *TR
KEYLESS REMOTE FOBS SUDDENLY ONLY STARTED WORKING ON AND OFF TO UNLOCK DOORS. AT TIMES, HAVE TO PRESS REMOTE UNLOCK 15 OR MORE TIMES TO GET IT TO WORK. HAPPENS THROUGHOUT THE DAY, EVERY DAY. CHANGED BATTERIES, STILL DID NOT HELP. WORKING WITH A DEALERSHIP TO DETERMINE POSSIBLE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE CHARGER. WHEN SHIFTING THE GEAR INTO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED A PUDDLE OF TRANSMISSION FLUID UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY IDENTIFIED FIVE ERROR CODES ASSOCIATED WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE TECHNICIAN FURTHER STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY; THEREFORE, THEY WOULD NOT ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. SHE IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER IN REFERENCE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS 08V583000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:LEVER AND LINKAGE:COLUMN SHIFT) AND 06V341000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,000. UPDATED 3/11 /09 *CN UPDATED 03/13/09. *JB
APPROACHING TRAFFIC LIGHT TRANSITIONING FROM YELLOW TO RED, CAR IS COASTING AT 20MPH, PROCEEDED TO STOP FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE BRAKE WAS SOLID AS THE CONCRETE PAVEMENT, THE STEERING WHEEL COULD NOT MOVE. THE CAR DID NOT STOP PROCEEDED FORWARD HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT WHICH WAS A FENDER BENDER, HOWEVER TOTAL LOSS OF A PURCHASED BRAND NEW DODGE CHARGER WHICH HAD GONE TO THE SERVICE CENTER EVERY WEEK AFTER PURCHASING FOR A RESET OF THE COMPUTER SYSTEM JUMPING SKIPPING STOPPING, HOWEVER UN - FINAL ANSWERS IT WAS ALWAYS COMMUNICATED THE CAR WAS FINE AND GOOD TO GO. AS A RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT THE RULING WAS NOT AGAINST ME AS A DRIVER, HOWEVER, AN ATTORNEY WHO SPECIALIZED IN MANUFACTURED DEFECTS WAS A COMMUNICATION AFTER SEVERAL ATTORNEYS LISTENED TO THE CASE BUT DID NOT TAKE ON THE REPRESENTATION. ALSO AS A RESULT NOW 3 YEARS LATER, $35,000 BACK SURGERY, CONTINUED MEDICAL BILLS, PERM DISABLE PERMIT DUE TO INABILITY TO FUNCTION NORMALLY BEFORE ACCIDENT EXCRUCIATING PAIN DAY IN AND OUT. NO HELP NO CAR PERSONAL INSURANCE PAID EVERYTHING / GAP WHEN THE ATTORNEY TOOK CASE COULD NOT FIND THE TOTALED CAR? ....THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THAT. ONE ATTORNEY STATED THE COMPANY IS RESPONSIBLE, HOWEVER STATED IT IS A CASE THAT WOULD BE MAJOR. IS ONE'S DEBT AND PERSONAL LIABILITY AS A CITIZEN NOT IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO RECEIVE HELP TOWARDS THIS MATTER? I AM AFRAID I WILL LIVE IN AND SUFFER WITH THIS PAIN IN DEBT TIL DEATH! 2007 POLICE PACKAGE DODGE CHARGER WAS INVOLVED IN A VEHICLE PURSUIT OF A SUSPECTED INTOXICATED DRIVER. AS CHARGER PROCEEDED THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, IT WAS INVOLVED IN A MULTI-VEHICLE COLLISION RESULTING IN A VEHICLE FIRE. *TR
ABOUT 40K MILES INTO OWNING THE CAR I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY CAR STALLED OUT. ONCE I PULLED OVER I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR BUT WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NOW APPEARING. THE CAR MADE IT THE REST OF MY DESTINATION BUT HAS NOT BEEN THE SAME SINCE. THAT WAS 5 YEARS AGO. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF RANDOMLY. THERE APPEARS TO BE LITTLE POWER LEFT WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. WHEN STEPPING ON THE GAS THE CAR RESPONDS BUT WILL IDLE DOWN AND FEEL CLOSE TO STALLING OUT EVEN WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. I TOOK TO DODGE AND THEY REPLACED A PART THAT COST ME $800 TO FIX (INTAKE MANIFOLD TUNING VALVE). OF COURSE THIS DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS OF FOR ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE IT CAME ON AGAIN. THEY DID NOT WANT TO HELP ME OUT. I WAS TOLD IT COULD BE ANOTHER $1200 IN REPAIRS. I DID NOT WANT TO SPEND THIS MUCH MONEY AS I DO NOT HAVE CONFIDENCE THAT THEY HAVE A RESOLUTION. THE CAR HAS NEVER PERFORMED ANY BETTER. I HAVE PUT LESS THAN 3K MILES/YEAR ON THE CAR FOR THE PREVIOUS TWO YEARS. I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE THAT MY CAR WOULD HAVE LASTED THIS LONG IF MY COMMUTE WAS LONGER OR STOP AND GO TRAFFIC WAS INVOLVED. I HAVE TO TAKE MY WIFE'S MUCH OLDER CAR WHEN I NEED TO MAKE LONGER COMMUTES. I AM VERY UNSATISFIED. *TR
WITHIN A YEAR OR SO OF FIRST PURCHASING THE CAR (2007) I NOTICED IT WOULD FEEL LIKE SOMEONE HIT ME FROM BEHIND AS I GOT OFF THE INTERSTATE AND WAS WAITING FOR A LIGHT. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THIS WAS THE ENGINE "BUMPING" TO KEEP IT FROM STALLING. I WOULD EITHER GIVE IT GAS OR PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND IT WOULD BE OK. WITHIN THE LAST YEAR THE CAR HAS ACTUALLY STALLED ON ME AT THE LIGHTS. I NOTICED THIS MOSTLY AFTER DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70-75 MPH FOR MY 20 MIN DRIVE TO WORK AND AS I SLOWING DOWN TO GET OFF THE EXIT IT SEEMS TO "BUMP" AND NOW "STALL". I HAVE HAD THE CAR STALL THREE TIMES IN A ROW ON A SINGLE INSTANCE RECENTLY WITH THE THIRD TIME IT FINALLY CAUGHT AND DID NOT STALL, BUT I FEARED IT WOULD NOT START AT ALL. I HAVE HAD AN INSTANCE RECENTLY OF THE CAR STALLING WHILE AT LOW SPEEDS (10-20 MPH) AS I'M SLOWING DOWN. ALL OTHER TIMES WERE AT AN ACTUAL STOP. RECENTLY THE CAR STALLED AND IT TOOK 2 TIMES TO GET IT TO RESTART AND WHEN IT RESTARTED IT WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY GO INTO GEAR, EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS IN "DRIVE". MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING FOR THIS TIME AND ALTHOUGH I AM PRIMARY DRIVER, HE HAS EXPERIENCED THE "BUMPS" OVER THE YEARS. IN THIS LAST INSTANCE THE CAR HAD BEEN ON A BACK ROAD AND WHILE STILL ONLY DRIVING ABOUT 20-30 MINS THE SPEED WAS NEVER HIGHER THAN 45-50 MPH. *TR

I OWN A 2007 DODGE CHARGER SE I BOUGHT BRAND NEW 8/7/2007 AT 5,000 MILES I NOTICED A SQUEALING NOISE WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT HEAR ANY NOISE FROM THE BRAKES AND THAT MAYBE IT WAS DIRT GETTING IN THE BRAKES. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY CLEANED THE BRAKES AND I SHOULD HAVE NO PROBLEMS. THE SAME DAY I STILL NOTICE THE SAME SQUEALING NOISE WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AT 6,000 MILES AND ALSO ADVISED THE DEALERSHIP OF THE BRAKE PROBLEM AGAIN. SERVICE PERSON SAID HE WOULD TEST DRIVE TO SEE IF HE COULD HEAR THE NOISE AND AGAIN HE COULD NOT HEAR THE NOISE. I WENT IN FOR MY 12,000 MILES OIL CHANGE DEALERSHIP DID AN INSPECTION OF THE CAR FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH MY BRAKES AND STILL DID NOT HEAR THE NOISE. NOW AT 15,500 MILES WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH I TRIED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AND DISCOVERED THE WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I COULD NOT MOVE THE WHEEL AT ALL AT FIRST I THOUGHT THE CAR HAD STALLED BUT THERE WAS NO LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASHBOARD TO INDICATE THAT SO I STOPPED MY CAR AND PUT IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND THE WHEN RELEASED AND I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL AGAIN. WELL 5 DAYS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN THIS TIME I WAS DRIVING 45 MPH AND WAS TRYING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN AND AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN ONCE AGAIN THE WHEEL IS LOCKED UP. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY AND I WAS ADVISED AFTER LEAVING MY CAR THERE FROM 8AM UNTIL 3:30 PM I WAS ADVISED BY THE SERVICE PERSON THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM AND I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THIS CAR. WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 65 MPH AND NEED TO TURN SUDDENLY AND THE WHEEL LOCKS UP I COULD BE KILLED OR HURT OR HURT SOMEONE ELSE ON THE ROAD MY CAR IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SERVICE MANAGER TO SEE IF HE CAN SEE IF THE PROBLEM WITH THE WHEEL WILL OCCUR WHILE HE IS DRIVING. *TR
I WAS USING THE SCISSOR JACK ON MY 2007 DODGE CHARGER TO PLACE MY CAR ON JACK STANDS IN ORDER TO CHANGE THE OIL. AS I WAS REMOVING THE JACK STANDS, THE SCISSOR JACK FAILED WHILE THE CAR WAS RAISED FAR ENOUGH TO REMOVE THE JACK STAND. HAD I NOT USE JACK STANDS I CERTAINLY WOULD HAVE BEEN CRUSHED. I KNOW THAT MANY FOLKS DO NO EMPLOY JACK STANDS WHILE WORKING ON THEIR CARS AND THIS EQUIPMENT DEFECT CERTAINLY HAS THE POTENTIAL TO KILL SOMEBODY.*TR
PARKED CAR IN DRIVEWAY, SET HAND BRAKE AND IT FAILED. WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP AND DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT IT IS A "PERIODIC ADJUSTMENT" THAT MUST BE MADE TO THE HAND BRAKE. WE WERE NOT INFORMED OF THE NEED FOR A "PERIODIC ADJUSTMENT" AT TIME OF PURCHASE, AND IT IS NOT POST ANYWHERE IN THE *TR. ADJUSTMENT COST OUT OF OUR POCKET. CAR ONE YEAR OLD.
REVERSE WENT OUT IN TRANSMISSION. THERE WAS NO WARNING OF ANY SORT. HAD NO IDEA THAT I EVEN HAD ANY PROBLEMS. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. WAS WITHOUT MY VEHICLE FOR ALMOST A MONTH WHILE STILL HAVING TO MAKE PAYMENTS AND FIND ANOTHER WAY OF GETTING AROUND.VEHICLE WAS JUST OVER A YEAR OLD. GOT THE VEHICLE BACK AND THE REVERSE WENT OUT IN THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN AS WELL AS THE REAR MAIN SEAL LEAKING. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP FOR MORE REPAIRS AND WAS WITHOUT MY VEHICLE AGAIN FOR ALMOST A MONTH. NOW, THE MOTOR IS KNOCKING AND SKIPPING AND VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 95,000 MILES. THESE CARS ARE LEMONS AND I DON'T KNOW HOW CHRYSLER CORPORATION IS GETTING AWAY WITH THIS AND I SURE DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE BUYING A DODGE. WISH I HAD NEVER BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AND SOMEBODY NEEDS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND MAKE IT RIGHT. SAD PART IS I AM STUCK WITH A VEHICLE THAT IS GOING TO NEED MAJOR ENGINE REPAIRS OR ENGINE REPLACE AND I STILL OWE ON THE VEHICLE AND OF COURSE THERE IS NO WARRANTY LEFT. *TR
THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THIS HAS HAPPEN AND I HAVE 12,000 MILES ON MY 07 DODGE CHARGER. ALTHOUGH THIS IS NOT A SAFETY CONCERN AT THE MOMENT, IT REDUCES THE VEHICLES VALUE ( TRADE IN ). CHRYSLER ENGINEERS NEED TO REDESIGN THIS SO THAT CORROSION DOES NOT TAKE PLACE. WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 DODGE CHARGER MY CELL PHONE CHARGER CAUGHT ON FIRE IN MY CONSOLE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THIS WAS NOT WARRANTIED. I HAD TO PAY $1,000 OUT OF POCKET. 2007 DODGE CHARGER R/T AWD, BRAKE SQUEALING AND UNACCEPTABLE ROTOR WEAR SINCE 9000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP JUST TELLS ME IT'S FROM THE HEAT, AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE. THEY RESURFACED ROTORS AT 20K MILES AND IT WENT AWAY FOR A MONTH OR SO. IT HAPPENS AROUND 130 TIMES PER 140 MILE COMMUTE. ( AT LEAST). I HAVE BEEN IN SITUATIONS WHERE MY BRAKES FEEL LIKE THEY ARE NOT GOING TO STOP MY VEHICLE AT ALL. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR OR SUCCESSFULLY DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. A SECOND DEALER STATED THAT THE BALL BEARINGS COULD BE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,262.

THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT FEELS THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE IT SHUT OFFS WITHOUT WARNING, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,600 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000.

LUCKILY I AM A POLICE OFFICER AND HAD A SEAT BELT CUTTER. THE VEHICLE IS A 2007 DODGE CHARGER POLICE PACKAGE. IF THERE HAD BEEN AN ACCIDENT WITH A FIRE, THE PASSENGER WOULD HAVE BEEN TRAPPED A DIED. THIS WAS A RENTAL CAR FROM ENTERPRISE AND THE CUSTOMER BEFORE HAD JUST TURNED IN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE SHE WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES AND STEERING. ENTERPRISE REFUSED TO DOCUMENT THE INCIDENT AS PER THAT CUSTOMER AND THEN PROCEEDED TO GIVE THE VEHICLE TO MY SON FIVE MINUTES LATER.
