THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V583000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SAN LEANDRO CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (LOCATED AT 1444 MARINA BLVD, SAN LEANDRO, CA 94577, (510) 254-3294), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR FEES. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A MECHANISM IN THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED PRIOR TO THE RECENT FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
MY 2007 DODGE CHARGER COOLING FAN BROKE AND BUSTED THE RADIATOR I NEED TO IF AND WHEN IT WILL BE UNDER A RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT. A NOISE COULD BE HEARD FROM WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO DECELERATE UNTIL AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOTH AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ABS MODULE. THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V4930000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. I WAS ON I-495 LEAVING LONG ISLAND NY , DRIVING AROUND 50-55 MPH WHEN MY 07 DODGE CHARGER 2.7 LITER TURNED OFF ON THE EXTREMELY BUSY FREEWAY. IM USUALLY IN THE FASTLANE , BUT THIS PARTICULAR DAY I WAS TRAVELING IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE. SO NO DAMAGE WAS DONE. THERE ARE NO WARNING INDICATORS OR WARNINGS OF THIS PROBLEM THAT OCCURS , BEFORE OR AFTER. THERE HAS ALSO BEEN NUMEROUS TIMES THAT THE VEHICLE HAS TURNED OFF WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE ON A GREEN LIGHT. THAT HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME MANY REAR END ACCIDENTS. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO MANY MECHANICS INCLUDING THE DODGE DEALERSHIP AND NO ONE COULD SEEM TO FIND THE PROBLEM. THERE ARE MANY OTHERS ON THE DODGE CHARGER FORUM WITH THE SAME PROBLEM , AND FEEL THE SAME DANGERS THAT COULD BE CAUSED IF THIS PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED OR AT LEAST IDENTIFIED. IF ALL DODGE CHARGERS HAVE THIS PROBLEM , IT COULD CAUSE MANY DEFECT RELATED ACCIDENTS. THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE WARNING AND THE CAR RUNS FINE UNTIL IT UNEXPECTEDLY SHUTS OFF. I HAVE SPENT OVER $800 FOR TEST AND OTHER WISHFUL REPAIRS WITH STILL NO ANSWER TO FIX THE PROBLEM. CHECK THE DODGE CHARGER FORUM. I DIDN'T BOTHER TO SIGN UP BECAUSE THERE WAS NO SOLUTION. *TR
2007 DODGE CHARGER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO STALLING ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING OIL AND WOULD STALL ON THE HIGHWAY. ALSO, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HER MECHANIC, SHE WAS INFORMED THE BOOT WAS CRACKED AND OIL WAS ALL OVER THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE.
TRANSMISSION SHIFT LEVER WOULD NOT MOVE FROM THE PARK POSITION. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO ENGAGE A RELEASE VALVE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK BUT COULD NO LONGER SECURE THE VEHICLE IN PARK WHEN PARKING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO SECURE THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO PARK THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A PLASTIC PART IN THE GEAR SHIFTER WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE GEAR SHIFT CABLE WAS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE THROTTLE AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AS THE ENGINE RPMS DECREASED. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD SHOULDER AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE NO LONGER ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.

I WAS DRIVING HOME ALONG WITH MY WIFE FROM RUNNING ERRANDS WHEN MY VEHICLE SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING AT 45MPHS PER HOUR. I CALLED AAA TO COME AND TOW MY VEHICLE. THEY DID JUST THAT AND THE SERVICE-CONTRACTED TOWING COMPANY FOR AAA DROPPED MY DODGE CHARGER RT OFF TO THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP THAT I'M ACCUSTOMED TO GOING. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE BATTERY WAS DRAINED HEAVILY FROM THE ENGINE PROBLEM. SO HE TOOK OUT THE OLD BATTERY I HAD AND PUT IN A NEW BATTERY. ONCE HE DID THAT HE TRIED TO GET THE DODGE CHARGER RT TO START BUT THERE WAS NO LUCK. BUT EVENTUALLY SOME ELECTRICAL POWER WAS RESTORED TO A LEVEL IN ORDER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST TO BE PERFORMED. ONCE THIS MECHANIC COMPLETED THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST HE TOLD ME THAT THE CODES HE RECEIVED ARE IDENTICAL TO THE RECALL PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE 2007 MODEL OF THE DODGE CHARGER RT. HE TOLD ME THAT THE 2007 MODEL FOR THIS VEHICLE HAD THE MOST RECALL PROBLEMS FOR THE ISSUE THAT I EXPERIENCED WHICH WERE ENGINE PROBLEMS. HE SAID THAT THE ENGINE PROBLEMS WERE THE SECOND MOST RECALLED ISSUE AFTER THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS FOR THIS VEHICLE. HE TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO INVESTIGATE ABOUT GETTING A RECALL COMPLAINT MADE FOR THIS VEHICLE WITH THE MANUFACTURER (DODGE), BECAUSE THE ENGINE PROBLEM JUSTIFIED THE SAME RECALL ISSUES THAT PREVIOUS OWNERS HAD WITH THE MODEL AND YEAR OF THIS VEHICLE. PLEASE HELP ME BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THAT THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY EXPIRED. *TR
TRANSMISSION SHIFTER INTERLOCK LEVER PROBLEM: I READ THERE WAS A "SILENT" RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM ONLY FOR CARS BUILT BETWEEN JUNE AND SEPTEMBER OF 2007. MY CAR WAS BUILT SHORTLY BEFORE THIS PERIOD. MY QUESTION IS: WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL FOR ALL VEHICLES HAVING THIS PROBLEM? A DEALERSHIP QUOTED ME OVER $400 TO REPLACE A SINGLE PINK PLASTIC PART WITH A SMALL, FRAIL HOOK (WHICH IS WHAT BROKE OFF) THAT ATTACHES TO A SMALL SPRING. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART AND A DESIGN FLAW THAT WARRANTS A COMPREHENSIVE RECALL. I CANNOT EXPLAIN TO YOU HOW MUCH THIS HAS UPSET ME AND WOULD REALLY LIKE THE NHTSA TO TAKE THE APPROPRIATE ACTION AND ISSUE A RECALL FOR ALL CARS AFFECTED. THANK YOU. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THE GEAR SHIFT ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION ISSUED BY THE MANUFACTURER PERTAINING TO THE SHIFT INTERLOCK MECHANISM; HOWEVER; THE VIN WAS INELIGIBLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,147.

MY 2007 DODGE CHARGER WAS RENDERED INOPERABLE WHEN THE ENGINE COOLING FAN BLADES SEPARATED UNEXPECTEDLY, CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE RADIATOR. THIS INCIDENT ULTIMATELY RESULTED IN ENGINE FAILURE. WHEN THIS INCIDENT WAS REPORTED TO THE CHRYSLER GROUP, THE CASE MANAGER WAS INFORMED OF A RECALL THAT ADDRESSED THIS SAME ISSUE. PLEASE REFER TO CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION L08 ENGINE COOLING FANS. THIS NOTIFICATION CAUTIONS OWNERS THAT THE ELECTRICALLY POWERED RADIATOR COOLING FANS ON ABOUT 52,000 OF THE REFERENCED VEHICLES (INCLUDE 2007 DODGE CHARGER) MAY SEPARATE DURING FAN OPERATION AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE RADIATOR. THIS EXACT FAILURE OCCURRED TO MY VEHICLE COSTING ME IN EXCESS OF $2000 BUT THE CHRYSLER GROUP REFUSED TO OFFER ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE FACT THAT MY VIN FELL OUTSIDE OF THE RANGE TO THE VINS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THAT MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I REQUEST THAT A THE EXISTING RECALL BE EXPANDED TO ALL OF THE VEHICLES TYPES LISTED WITHIN THE 2006-2008 TIME FRAME INSTEAD OF LIMITING TO THE 52,000 ESTIMATED IN THE NOTIFICATION. *TR UPDATED 01/24/13
COULD NOT MOVE THE GEAR SELECTOR OUT OF PARK. FORCED IT INTO REVERSE THEN INTO DRIVE WENT ON MY WAY,IT'S BEEN SEVERAL MONTHS AND WORKING JUST FINE. NO REPAIRS NEEDED. I HOPE I WON'T NEED TO DO THAT AGAIN,IF IT DOES HAPPEN AGAIN I MIGHT TAKE IT TO THE DEALER OR RISK BRAKING THE [XXX] THING. A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO UNLOCK THE BAND THAT WAS INSTALLED IN THE GEAR BOX. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO REPLACED THE GEAR SHIFTER. THERE WAS A VOLUNTARY RECALL ISSUED BY THE MANUFACTURER PERTAINING TO THE TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFTER; HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,900.
I WAS LEAVING WORK, AND ENTERING I-285 OFF EXIT RAMP, I SAW A VEHICLE THAT WAS STOPPED AHEAD OF ME APPROX. A QUARTER OF A MILE UP AHEAD OF ME, SO I BEGAN TO APPLY BRAKES TO PREPARE TO STOP AHEAD...AND I REALIZED THAT MY BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT MOVE OR GIVE IN TO EVEN APPLY PRESSURE TO BRAKE. I WAS GOING APPROX. 45 TO 50MPH...AND I CRASHED AND REAR ENDED A CAR FULL FORCE WITHOUT ANY BRAKES AT ALL. BOTH AIRBAGS DEPLOYED...IT WAS AWFUL AND THE SCARIEST THING THAT I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. IT RESULTED IN A 4 CAR ACCIDENT. I SUFFERED A BROKEN ANKLE IN TWO PLACES, TORN FOOT LIGAMENTS, AND BURNS FROM AIRBAGS. I AM ANGRY, BECAUSE I FOUND OUT ABOUT SEVERAL RECALLS THAT ARE OUT WITH MY CAT THAT I WAS UNAWARE OF. I OWN A 2007 DODGE CHARGER RT WITH A HEMI. THE GEAR SHIFTER IS STUCK IN PARK. I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM ON POLICE CARS BUT THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT PART OF THAT RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE MILEAGE IS 88,125. IT'S FUNNY I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM THAT WAS FOUND THROUGH A DEFECT INVESTIGATION CONDUCTED ON MORE THAN 20,000 POLICE CARS. THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED IN THOSE VEHICLES AND IT SHOULD BE FIXED. THE VEHICLES ARE BUILT THE SAME AND I UNDERSTAND POLICE CARS NEED TO BE PROGRAMMED DIFFERENTLY WITH REINFORCED SUSPENSION AND OTHER FEATURES TO DO THEIR JOBS BUT ITS THE SAME CABLE ON MY CAR THAT DISLODGES THAT'S FOUND ON AN OFFICERS CAR. THERE WAS A RECALL DONE FOR 05-07 CHARGER/MAGNUM/CHRYSLER 300 LX MODEL VEHICLES, FOR AN ISSUE WITH THE SHIFT LEVER. UPON CALLING THE CHRYSLER CORP. TO SEE IF THE R/T MODEL (WITH AN UPGRADED ENGINE SIZE) WOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL, I WAS INFORMED IT WAS NOT. IF THE RECALL WAS ON THE BASE MODEL, IT SHOULD BE RECALLED ON ALL, AS THE BASICS OF THE CAR STRUCTURE ITSELF, AND THE BASIC PARTS USED, WOULD MOST LIKELY BE THE SAME. IF THEY ADMIT TO A DEFECTIVE PART IN THE LX, DO RIGHT BY THE CUSTOMERS, AND ALLOW THE RECALL TO ENCOMPASS ALL MODELS OF THE VEHICLE. *TR

FOUND OUT THAT CHRYSLER HAS A DEFECTIVE PART IN THESE CARS CALLED THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER INTERLOCK LEVER RECALLED ON SOME MODELS (NOTIFICATION CODE K39) . HOWEVER, THE OTHER DODGE CHARGERS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT HAS THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART. INSTEAD, THEY WANT TO CHARGE THE CONSUMER TO FIX THE PROBLEM ALTHOUGH IT IS WELL KNOWN THAT IT IS A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM. (ITS A CHEAP PLASTIC PINK RELEASE BUTTON THAT GOES OUT AT ANY GIVEN TIME CAUSING THE CAR TO BE STUCK IN PARK) THIS IS A WIDESPREAD, WELL KNOWN, HIGHLY DOCUMENTED DEFECTED PART THAT THE RECALL ONLY COVERED ON FEW MODELS NOT ALL MODELS. THIS IS A CHEAP AND UNETHICAL MOVE ON CHRYSLER-DODGE'S PART TO HAVE THE CONSUMER BEAR THE COST WHEN IT IS NOT THE CONSUMER'S PROBLEM. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ACROSS THE BOARD ON ANYAND ALL VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THIS CHEAP PIECE OF PLASTIC. 07 R/T CHARGER GOING HOME TRAVELLING 20 MILES AN HOUR ON COUNTRY ROAD I HEAR A WARNING LIGHT GO ON. THE TEMPERATURE GUAGE LIGHT IS ON AND ITS PAST RED. THE ENGINE LIGHT AND THROTTLE CONTROL VALVE ALSO GO ON. I AM ABOUT 1 MILE FROM MY HOUSE SO I DRIVE AROUND 5 MPH TO GET TO THE HOUSE. 50 YARDS AWAY THE TEMPERATURE NEEDLE GOES ALL THE WAY TO COLD. I STARTED TO THINK ITS ELECTRICAL. I PULL IN MY DRIVEWAY AND CHECK FLUIDS. ALL ARE FINE. HUSBAND TAKES HIS CAR AND GOES AND BUYS A THERMOSTAT THINKING THATS IT, IT WASN'T. WE NOTICED ANTIFREEZE AT THAT POINT LEAKING. WHEN LOOKING FOR LEAK HE NOTICED THAT THE FAN ASSEMBLY BLADE WAS SHATTERED ON ONE SIDE AND THAT IT HAD DUG INTO THE RADIATOR. SO AGAIN HE GOES BACK TO THE STORE TO PURCHASE A FAN ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLS IT. IT STARTS FINE, TAKES IT FOR A 30 MILE TEST DRIVE AND ON THE WAY HOME IT STALLS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. HE FINALLY GETS IT HOME, TRIES TO START IT AGAIN AND NOW ITS MAKING A GRINDING NOISE. HE CUTS ENGINE OFF, CHECKS FOR OTHER PROBLEMS, TRIES TO START AGAIN BUT THIS TIME ITS A LOUD KNOCKING. WE CALL TOW TRUCK, TOW IT TO DEALERSHIP AND AM TOLD THAT IT NEEDS NEW ENGINE AND THE COST IS $8000 AND SAID MANUFACTURER WARRANTY DOESN'T COVER IT EVEN TOUGH TO ME IT SEEMS LIKE A DEFAULT IN MANUFACTURING. AFTER RESEARCHING FURTHUR I NOTICED THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS FOR BOTH PROBLEMS, THE FAN ASSEMBLY AND THE ENGINE BLOWING A MAIN SEAL. JUST WAY TOO COINCIDENTAL THEY HAPPENED BACK TO BACK. WHILE DRIVING SOUTH ON LAKESHORE DRIVE IN CHICAGO, MY CAR ENGINE SHUT OFF ON ME. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT INCIDENT. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND IT IMMEDIATELY STARTED AGAIN. YES, A RIGHT HAND TURN AT LESS THAN 5 MILES AN HOUR SNAPPED THE OUTER TIE ROD IN TWO. HOW FORTUNATE AM I THAT THIS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT DID NOT BREAK WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY? THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE OUTRAGE THAT DODGE KNOWINGLY PLACES UNSAFE COMPONENTS ON THEIR CARS, AND REFUSES TO RECALL THEM WHEN THE PARTS CONTINUE TO FAIL. DODGE RECALLS THE TIE RODS ON THE DAKOTA, RAM, AND DURANGO; BUT AFTER THOUSANDS OF PUBLIC COMPLAINTS THAT CHARGER TIE RODS ARE BAD ALSO, THEY DO NOTHING ABOUT IT.
