WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH MY CAR SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING I LOOKED IT UP ONLINE MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME INCIDENT HAPPEN TO THEM I FEEL IT'S VERY SERIOUS MATTER
MY 2010 DODGE CHARGER CAUGHT FIRE AND EXPLODED. I WAS SITTING IN IT WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER RUNNING, WAITING FOR MY SON. I SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING, BUT NOT LIKE PLASTIC OR THE SMELL WHEN IT'S OVERHEATING. I LOOKED AT MY DASH AND THE THERMOSTAT NEEDLE WAS STRAIGHT UP THEN I SAW A LITTLE PUFF OF SMOKE OUT OF THE CORNER OF MY EYE. I POPPED THE HOOD AND FLAMES SHOT ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. I OPENED THE DOOR AND ROLLED OUT BECAUSE MY SEAT WAS RECLINED. I COULD SEE FIRE UNDER THE HOOD, I REACHED BACK IN AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF THINKING MAYBE IT WOULD HELP. I GRABBED MY PHONE WHICH WAS STUCK TO THE DASH WITH A MAGNET AND I RAN LIKE HELL!
WIFE WAS DRIVING CHARGER WHEN THE GAUGES, RADIO, AC WENT HAY WIRE AND A FEW SECONDS LATER THE CAR JUST DIED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND WOULD NOT START BACK. HAD CAR WAS TOWED AND VERY COSTLY AS SHE WAS FAR FROM HOME. FROM WHAT I COULD FIND ONLINE IT SOUNDED LIKE THE BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR, REMOVED BOTH AND HAD THEM TESTED AND BOTH ARE IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. CHARGED BATTERY UP AND CAR STARTED RIGHT UP SO WE TEST FROM IT. WHILE DRIVING IT ONLY A FEW MILES WE NOTICED THAT THERE IS A STRANGE NEW WHINING NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THERE HOOD, ESP/ TRATION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON AND CAR DIED AGAIN CHARGED BATTERY AGAIN AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP AGAIN HOWEVER WE ARE RELUCTANT TO DRIVE IT AGAIN DUE TO THIS ISSUE. SOUNDS LIKE ALOT OF PEOPLE IN ONLINE FORUMS ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE, BUT YET NO RECALLS OR FIX'S FOR WHATEVER THE ISSUE IS
THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON WHEN VEHICLE AFTER VEHICLE IS RUNNING FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, WHITE SMOKE APPEARED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS POSSIBLY DUE TO A CRACKED BLOCK OR ENGINE HEAD. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING THE VEHICLE TO BE INSPECTED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE DIODES IN MY ALTERNATOR HAVE GONE BAD AND DRAINED THE BATTERY. THERE ARE RECALLS FOR THIS ON OTHER THE OTHER SIZED ENGINE AND SEEMS TO BE ALL PREVIOUS YEARS, BUT MINE WAS SKIPPED AND NOW IT HAS HAPPENED TO MINE

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THERE NEEDS BE A RECALL FOR THE 2010 DODGE CHARGER SXT. WHILE DRIVING HOME ON THE INTERSTATE, JUST AS I'M MERGING ON TO MY EXIT, THE CAR SHUTS COMPLETELY DOWN WHILE IN MOTION DURING TRAFFIC. I HAD NO IDEA THAT IT HAD COMPLETELY STALLED UNTIL I TRIED TO GIVE IT GAS AND TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AS I WAS GOING INTO TO A CURVE WITH CARS IN FRONT OF ME AND BEHIND. HAD TO FIGHT LIKE [XXX] TO TURN THE WHEEL AND USE THE BRAKES TO BRING THE CAR TO A COMPLETE STOP. I TRIED TO START THE ENGINE WITH NO SUCCESS. IT KEPT TURNING OVER MAKING A "RU RUR RUR RUR RUR" SOUND WHICH WAS ACCOMPANIED BY THE SMELL OF WIRES BURNING AND A RED LIGHTNING BOLT THAT APPEARED ON THE DASH. TRIED TO START AGAIN, IT BECAME WORSE. HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP TO SEE WHAT THE ISSUE IS. HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING YET. CALLED DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THEY COULD SHED SOME LIGHT ON THE SUBJECT, THEY RELUCTANTLY DECLINED TO DO SO IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE. THE DEALERSHIP I TOOK IT SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM AND SUGGESTED THAT IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM. DODGE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ASAP. THE WIRING HARNESS COMING OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION BURNT AND ALSO THE WIRE'S GOING TO THE O2 SENSOR BURNT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO CRANK ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THE BATTERY WAS DRAINED. THE BATTERY AND CHECK ENGINE INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTO CENTER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 164,000.
DRIVING HOME AND BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE CAR KILLED ON ME MID-RUSH HOUR ON A VERY BUSY STREET BETWEEN 3:00PM TO 6:00PM OUT OF NO WHERE. I HAD HELP TO GET IT OFF THE MAIN ROAD AND ASKED FOR A JUMP START THE CAR STARTED UP AND TEN MINUTES INTO THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND THE CAR KILLED. CALLED A TOW MAN DUE TO THE RISK LEVEL OF NOT KNOWING WHEN THE CAR WILL KILL AGAIN AND MOST IMPORTANTLY WHERE IF I DID THE JUMP STARTED AGAIN. REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR/BATTERY BUT ISSUE REMAINS WITH BATTERY LIGHT COMING ON AND SHORTLY AFTER CAR KILLS. A SLIGHT DIFFERENCE IS THE REPLACED BATTERY ALLOWED CAR TO REMAIN DRIVEN LONGER BEFORE IT KILLS. BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON TWO TO FOUR MINUTES LATER CAR KILLS. (REPLACED BATTERY) BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON FIFTEEN/TWENTY MINUTES LATER CAR KILL.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ALL THE PARK REVERSE NEUTRAL AND DRIVE LIGHTS STARTED HAVING FLASHING SQUARES AROUND THEM AND A 8 APPEARED AT THE END OF THEM. THEN THE TRANSMISSION STARTED GETTING STUCK AT HIGH SPEED AND NEARLY MADE ME LOOSE CONTROL.
HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY BRAKES AS NHTSA RECALL REF. #12V197000 THAT 119,000 2011 DODGE CHARGER WHERE RECALLED FOR THE SAME REASON AS MY CAR THERE IS ONLY 4 MONTHS BETWEEN MY CAR AND THE RECALL I HAVE SPEND OVER $500 ON NEW BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER THE RECALL STATES THAT ABS NEED TO BE RELOCATED BECAUSE OF OVER HEATING AND U LOSE ALL YOUR BRAKES IT IS MY WIFE CAR AND CAN CAUSE A ACCIDENT PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM DODGE IS SAYING IT NOT ON RECALL LIST
ALTERNATOR/BATTERY/ELECTRICAL. HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH BATTERY FOR YEARS. CONSTANTLY HAVE HAD BATTERIES REPLACED AND/OR TESTED AND RECHARGED. PURCHASED THE CAR FROM DEALERSHIP 12/11. LAST BATTERY REPLACEMENT AUGUST 2017. OCTOBER 2017 HAVE HAD THREE JUMP STARTS. 10/14/17 RECEIVED A JUMP START AND WAS DRIVING THE 20 MINUTES TO RECHARGE BATTERY THINKING IT WAS THE BATTERY ISSUE AGAIN. CAR BEGAN MAKING NOISE SO PARKED IT AND LIFTED HOOD TO CHECK THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. NOISE GOT LOUDER AND THEN GOT BACK IN THE CAR. CAR BEGAN MAKING NOISES AGAIN AND THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR ENGINE TURNED OFF AND WOULDN'T TURN BACK OVER. LUCKILY MADE IT BACK TO A PARKING GARAGE. CONTACTED CHRYSLER ON 10/15/17. CAR MANUFACTURED 8/10 WHICH IS DURING THEIR RECALL PERIOD FOR VEHICLES WITH ALTERNATOR ISSUES. THEY ADVISED I GO TO A DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE CAR INSPECTED AND FOLLOW UP WITH THEM.
I BROUGHT A VEHICLE WITH A ROLLED BACK ODOMETORAND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS CAULKED OVER SO YOU COULD NOT SEE IT WAS ON.AFTER I BROUGHT THE CAR FROM AN INDIVIDUAL IT FAILED EMISSION TESTING. MY MECHANIC DISCOVERED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS CUALKED. I DECIDED TO LOOK UP THE VIN ONLINE AND SAW THE CAR WAS SOLD AT AUCTION ON 9/25/17 ON THE ODOMETOR READ 199955. THE PCM - POWER-TRAIN CONTROL MODULE FAIL, CAUSING THE MOTOR TO ROCK AND JERK PERFIDIOUSLY FROM SIDE TO SIDE AS IF YOUR TIRE ON THE RIGHT SIDE IS ON A FLAT AND WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY. CAN STOP ARE STALL OUT AT ANYTIME WITH OUT YOU BEING AWARE. IT HAPPEN WHILE IN MOTION AND TRYING TO PARK IT.
CAR SHUT OFF ON ME WHILE GOING DOWN INTERSTATE 70 MILES AND HOUR LEFT LANE PASSING TRAFFIC, NO POWER STEERING, BRAKES. THANKFULLY A TRUCKER SAW MY DISTRESS AND LET ME OVER TO GET OFF INTERSTATE. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND BODILY INJURY AS AIR BAGS WOULD NOT HAVE DEPLOYED EITHER. WOULD NOT RESTART HAD TO HAVE TOWED, STARTER REPLACED, NOT THE ISSUE. UPON RESEARCH IT APPEARS THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH SEVERAL CHARGERS AND OTHER MODELS PRODUCED BY CHRYSLER. APPEARS TO BE A WIN MODULE ISSUE BUT NO RECALLS ONLY FOR THE T& C . WIN MODULE IS BEING REPLACED AT A HEARTY PRICE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO THIS SITUATION AS THE WIN MODULE IS BEING USED IN NEWER MODELS. AND THIS RANDOM SHUTTING OFF IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE PUT APPEARS TO JUST KEEP GETTING PUSHED ASIDE. WILL HAVE REPAIR BILLS AVAILABLE ONCE COMPLETED.

THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V200000(ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), ALTHOUGH THE CONTACT REFERENCED IT AS A POSSIBLE EXPLANATION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 66,000.
MY 2010 DODGE CHARGER WAS UNDER RECALL FOR TIMING CHAIN AND CHAIN GUIDE TENSIONER. WE TOOK IT TO A LICENSED GARAGE THAT'S BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR MANY YEARS. THEY SAID THEY ORDERED THE BIGGEST TIMING CHAIN. IT LASTED 6 MONTHS. WE WERE 7 HOURS FROM HOME ON OUR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY VACATION. WHEN THE CHAIN BROKE WE WERE DRIVING SO THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. THE GARAGE SAID WE NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. IT'S BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR OVER A MONTH BECAUSE THEY CANNOT FIND AN ENGINE THAT WORKS TO THEIR SATISFACTION. SO, MY CAR IS ONLY 7 YRS OLD AND NOW I DON'T TRUST IT. WHY WAS THERE A RECALL IN THE FIRST PLACE? IS THE 3RD TIMING CHAIN GOING TO BRAKE ALSO? I WONDER WHAT'S REALLY WRONG WITH THIS CAR. BAD ENGINEERING?? I WOULD LOVE AN INVESTIGATION TO BE DONE IF POSSIBLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT, THERE WAS AN ODOR OF BURNING WIRES THAT EMITTED INTO THE VENTS OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE UNDER THE HOOD AND FROM THE ALTERNATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE ABS AND THE BATTERY WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. A FEW MINUTES LATER, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
TAKATA RECALL: MY 18 YEAR OLD SON WAS IN A CAR CRASH AND SUFFERED FROM TBI. HE WAS UNPLUGGED FROM LIFE SUPPORT 8 HOURS LATER. NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO HELP HIM. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED WITH GREAT FORCE AND CAUSED TBI. HE HAD UNCONTROLLABLE BLEEDING FROM BOTH EARS AND MASSIVE BLEEDING ON THE BRAIN. WE NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON HIS CAR UNTIL TWO MONTHS AFTER THE ACCIDENT. *TT UPDATED 9/13/18*JB
APPROXIMATELY 8 MONTHS OR SO AGO I HAD TO REPLACE MY BATTERY BECAUSE IT WAS "TOO WEAK" FOR MY CAR. I DID SO AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE UNTIL ABOUT A MONTH AGO WHEN I TRIED STARTING MY CAR AND IT TOOK ABOUT 5 MINUTES FOR ME TO FINALLY START IT, IT WAS STATIONARY. I CAME HOME WITH MY EYES STINGING AND SWOLLEN AND THIS ONLY HAPPENED WHEN I WAS IN THE CAR. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I REALIZED THE BATTERY BLEW UP AND THERE WAS BATTERY ACID ALL OVER MY TRUNK. I WENT ONLINE TO SEE IF IT WAS COMMON AND I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL FORUMS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THEIR BATTERIES BLOWING UP. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD FOR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE. I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR ITSELF OR THE BATTERY, BUT I DO THINK THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. THE BATTERY IS A DURALAST BATTERY.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT A FIELD EVALUATOR WOULD INSPECT THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,000.

TAKATA RECALL - I HAVE A YOUNGER DRIVER DRIVING A CAR WITH A PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG RECALL. THIS RECALL WAS ISSUED OVER A YEAR AGO AND IT HAS STILL NOT BEEN COMPLETED WITH NO TARGET DATE GIVEN. I PURCHASED THE CAR SO THAT IT COULD BE DRIVEN SAFELY AND FULLY. MY CHILD HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO HAVE A PASSENGER IN THE CAR FOR OVER A YEAR. THE DEALER DOES NOT SEEM TO CARE, NHTSA DOES NOT SEEM TO CARE, AND TAKATA DOES NOT SEEM TO CARE. YOU WON'T EVEN SAY NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL LAW SUITS AND LOSS OF REVENUE THAT IT WOULD COST THE MANUFACTURERS. YOU HAVE CLEARLY CALCULATED THE COST OF DEATH AND/OR INJURY AT A LOWER VALUE THAN THE POTENTIAL LOSS OF REVENUE THAT WOULD RESULT FROM FIXING THE ISSUE OR DEEMING THE VEHICLES AS NOT DRIVABLE. IT IS RIDICULOUS AND UNACCEPTABLE. I WANT THE CAR FIXED OR REPLACED ASAP. MY CAR HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SO I WENT TO AN OFFICIAL DODGE DEALER TO FIX. THEY CLAIMED IT WAS A FAULTY VALVE IN MY FUEL SYSTEM AND CHARGED ME $470 TO FIX. SINCE FIXED, I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK AND NOW WHENEVER I ENTER MY CAR, IT SMELLS OF RAW FUEL. AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES, THE SMELL GOES AWAY, BUT I HAVE FOUND MANY DIFFERENT PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT IT. THE DODGE WAS THEN REAR-ENDED BY A TRUCK TRACTOR WITH A LOADED TRAILER TRAVELING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS ESTIMATED AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH. THE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY IN EITHER COLLISION.
