HELLO I READ ON A LOT OF 2011 CHARGERS OF THE SMELL OF GAS WHEN U FILL UP THE CAR THE INSIDE OF THE CAR STILL SMELL STRONG LIKE IT'S LEAKING SOMEWHERE IT SAYS IT'S A DEFECTED GAS TANK.I HAVE THAT ISSUE GOING ON NOW AND WAS WONDERING WHY THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS SITUATION SINCE A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS? THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION SINCE MY KIDS ARE IN THE CAR INHALING THESE FUMES.
FILLED UP WITH GAS AND HAD A STRONG SMELL IN CAR AFTER CHECKING I FOUND OUT THAT THE GAS TANK WAS LEAKING AROUND THE FUEL PUMP SEAL HAD IT REPLACED AND STILL LEAKS IF YOU FILL ABOVE 3/4 TANK THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD DUE TO GAS LEAKING ON THE GROUND IF SOMEONE DROPPED A CIG. ON THE GROUND WHERE THE GAS IS IT COULD EXPLODE AND THE FUMES INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT CANT BE GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH,I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD HAVE TO FIX .I JUST PURCHASED THE CAR 11/23/2015

THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS EACH TIME THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED THE MANUAL AND AUTOMATIC MODES FOR THE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS. THE FAILURE PROGRESSED TO THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHTS AND THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHTS RANDOMLY SHORTED OUT. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO MANUFACTURER RECALL TO ADDRESS THE REPAIR. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V467000 (AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS). THE DEALER SCHEDULED A REPAIR APPOINTMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
AS I TURNED TO PULL IN MY DRIVEWAY, ALL AT ONCE THE ABS LIGHT AND STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON MY DASH, THE POWERSTEERING QUIT WORKING, ALL AT THE SAME TIME THE VEHICLE HAD BEGUN MAKING A LOUD HIGH PITCHED HUMMING NOISE WITH SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD THAT HAD A VERY INTENSE BURNING, ELECTRICAL TYPE SMELL. THEN THE DASH FLASHED THAT THE CAR WAS IN BATTERY SAVER MODE, SUBSEQUENTLY DYING ALTOGETHER. UPON HAVING TOWED THE CAR TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INFORMED ME THAT I NEEDED TO A) REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR B) REPLACE THE BELT AND C) REPLACE THE BATTERY BECAUSE THE ALTERNATOR CAUSED IT TO GO BAD. THE TOTAL FOR ALL REPAIRS WILL BE $1224. I STILL DON'T HAVE THE VEHICLE BACK, BUT I'VE DONE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ONLINE AND LEARNED THAT THERE IS A RECALL (RECALL NUMBER P60) INVOLVING SOME 2011-2014 MODEL YEAR DODGE CHARGERS AND THEIR ALTERNATORS. SEEING AS MY VEHICLE IS A 2011, AND I AM HAVING THIS EXACT ISSUE, I NEED TO KNOW WHY MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL. HAVING ALTERNATOR FAILURE WHEN MY VEHICLE IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD IS UNACCEPTABLE, NOT TO MENTION, IT IS INCREDIBLY UNSAFE TO LOSE POWERSTEERING, ABS AND ESC AS THE VEHICLE SMOLDERS FOR HOURS EVEN AFTER COMPLETELY DYING.

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN INTERNAL EVAPORATION LEAK, WHICH CAUSED CARBON MONOXIDE TO EMIT INTO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,657.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET AT ABOUT 40MPH. HAD TO UTILIZE MANUAL TRANSMISSION TO OPERATE VEHICLE. DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT, THOUGHT IT WAS MY FAULT. HAPPENED TO MY DAUGHTER ALSO WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING AS WELL. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 70K MILES, THIS OCCURRED AT ABOUT 62K MILES. LOW BEAM LIGHTS ALSO GOING OUT OCCASIONALLY. HAVE NEVER RECEIVED RECALL INFORMATION REGARDING THESE ISSUES BUT HAVING THESE ISSUES NON THE LESS.
STRONG FUEL ODOR NOTICED AFTER FILLING UP FUEL TANK. VISIBLE FUEL LEAK NOTICE UNDER RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE OF CAR WHILE CAR PARKED. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP. LEAK THOUGHT TO BE CAUSED BY PROBLEM WITH O-RING ON PASSENGER SIDE FUEL TRANSFER PUMP. O-RING REPLACE. SEEMED TO RESOLVE PROBLEM UNTIL NEXT FILL UP. THEN LEAK RETURNED. SEAL CHECKED, AND ANOTHER NEW O-RING INSTALLED. LEAK CONTINUED. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION AFTER VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF THE HONEY COMB SURFACE OF THE FUEL TRANSFER PUMP SEEMS TO BE FILLING WITH GAS AFTER VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF. MECHANIC CONTACTED DODGE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THAT A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED ON THE HEMI MODELS FOR A SIMILAR PROBLEM. HOWEVER NO RECALL IN PLACE FOR THE 6 CYLINDER MODEL. FUEL TRANSFER PUMP REPLACEMENT RECOMMENDED. NOT COVERED BY ANY WARRANT. AS THIS FUEL LEAK OCCURS DIRECTLY UNDER THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT AND FUEL SEAMS TO PUDDLE IN THIS AREA CAUSING FUEL VAPOR TO ENTER PASSENGER COMPARTMENT THIS SEEMS TO BE A LEGITIMATE SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY BY DODGE.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS LOW VOLTAGE ON THE BATTERY, WHICH KEPT BEING DRAINED WITHOUT WARNING. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED BY THE CONTACT, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. ALSO, THE LATCHES FAILED TO FUNCTION ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOORS. THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH LATCHES. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE STABILITY TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE ENGINE, AIR BAG, AND BRAKE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 16V352000 (AIR BAGS), 16V043000 (STRUCTURE), 15V467000 (AIR BAGS AND SEAT BELTS), 14V643000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), 14V101000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING), 13V118000 (AIR BAGS), AND 12V497000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, SERVICE BRAKES, AIR). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
I HAVE A 2011 DODGE CHARGER, AND I'M HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRUNK IT JUST OPENS FOR NO REASON. ALSO THE ALTERNATOR WENT OUT, AND THEY CLAIM MY CAR IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST BUT IT HAS THE EXACT ALTERNATOR AS THE ONES ON THE RECALL LIST. THIS IS RIDICULOUS.
I HAVE A 2011 CHARGER R/T AWD AND HAD THE BATTERY SAVER MODE COME ON YESTERDAY, ALONG WITH A WINDING NOISE AND ELECTRICAL BURNING ODOR. AFTER THIS THE CAR WOULD NOT START NO MORE AND THE BATTERY DRAINED. JUST GOT A CALL FROM DODGE IT IS MY ALTANATOR GONE BAD. THEY HAVE A RECALL WITH THIS ISSUE FOR OTHER VEHICLES BUT NOT MINES AND ITS THE SAME TYPE ALTANATOR.
MY DODGE CHARGER HAS ABOUT A 43,000 MILES AND I NOTICED A GASOLINE ODOR IN MY CAR, SO I STOPPED TO LOOK TO SEE IF GAS WAS LEAKING FOR MY CAR AND IT WAS LEAKING GAS COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE. I HAD MY CARE TOWED TO MY NEAR BY MECHANIC SHOP AND THEY FOUND THAT THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM MY FUEL PUMP. I CALLED DODGE TO REPORT THE ISSUE AND THEY SAID, ITS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS UNSAFE TO HAVE GAS LEAKING FROM A CAR AND ESPECIALLY WITH JUST 43,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE SAVE BATTERY, TRACTION CONTROL, AND THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FRONT HEADLIGHTS BECAME INOPERABLE AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS OPERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED AND FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V101000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
OUT OF NO WHERE AND FOR THE PAST 8-10MO., MY 2011 CHARGER HAS BEEN LEAKING FUEL. ANYTIME THE VEHICLE IS FILLED WITH FUEL OVER 3/4 FULL, IT LEAKS ONTO THE GROUND OF THE PASSENGER SIDE BACK TIRE AND FUMES FILL THE CABIN, SO BADLY YOU CAN'T DRIVE IT UNLESS ALL THE WINDOWS ARE DOWN, SO YOUR NOT ASPHYXIATED BY THE FUMES. THE FUEL ODOR IS SO BAD THAT YOU COULD SMELL IT FROM A DISTANCE IN MY DRIVE WAY.THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON FOR THIS REASON AND MY A/C RECIRCULATE WILL NOT WORK (AS A SAFETY PRECAUTION), AS WELL AS THE AUTO START ON THE KEY FOB. I TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP AND THEY REPLACED THE FIRST SEAL. ALL SEAMED TO BE FINE UNTIL I FILLED UP WITH GAS WHICH WAS THE DAY AFTER THE REPAIR. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A SIDE SEAL THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THAT REPAIR DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. I GOT UNDER MY CAR TO SEE WHERE IT WAS LEAKING FROM AND HOW MUCH WAS LEAKING AND I SHOT A VIDEO. I COULDN'T ATTACH THE VIDEO, BUT IT APPEARS THAT IT IS LEAKING DIRECTLY FROM THE TANK ITSELF. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ON OTHER COMPLAINTS IT IS A MANUFACTURE'S DEFECT OF THE TANK ITSELF, AND OVER TIME CAN NOT SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF THE FUEL. WITH THE BATTERY AND CABLE'S BEING EXTREMELY CLOSE TO THE LOCATION OF THE TANK AND LEAK, THIS IS AN EXPLOSION WAITING TO HAPPEN. IF SOMEONE DROPS OR LIGHTS A CIGARETTE NEAR OR BY THIS LOCATION IT IS AN EXPLOSION WAITING TO HAPPEN. MERELY STARTING THE VEHICLE IS A RISK. THE INVESTIGATION REGARDING THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ACCELERATED. ITS SAD THAT PEOPLE HAVE TO BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR DIE, BEFORE SOMETHING IS RECTIFIED. THE VEHICLE IS NOT OLD ENOUGH FOR IT TO BE A "WEAR AND TEAR" ISSUE. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED.
ON SEPT 27,2015 WITHOUT WARNING MY GEAR SHIFT BECAME STUCK IN PARK. I WAS NOT ABLE TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT OUT OF PARK. I WAS NOT ABLE TO PICK UP MY DAUGHTER FROM ANOTHER PART OF TOWN WHO WAS STRANDED BY HERSELF FOR 1 HR PLUS. AS A CAR OWNER I'M LIVID BECAUSE THIS HAS BEEN A DANGER AND INCONVENIENCE. THIS CAR HAS LESS THAN 80,000 MILES ON IT AND SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE ISSUES. I KNOW I'M NOT THE FIRST AND WONT BE THE LAST WITH THIS COMPLIANT. THIS PART SHOULD BE PLACED UNDER INVESTIGATION AND THE PART SHOULD BE RECALLED.
I WAS DRIVING BACK HOME FROM WORK WHEN MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ON THE FREEWAY. ALL THESE LIGHTS CAME UP ON THE DASHBOARD FROM TRACTION ABS BATTERY CAME ON. LUCKILY I COULD PULL OVER I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON BUT IT DID IT ANOTHER 3 TIMES BEFORE I GOT HOME VERY UNSAFE.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS, OVER HEATED AND CAUSE HEAD LIGHTS TO GO OUT.
MY 2011 DODGE CHARGER V8 HAS LESS THAN 27K MILES AND MY ALTERNATOR WENT OUT LAST WEEK. $619.99 LATER, I DID RESEARCH TO FIND OUT THERE IS A RECALL BUT ONLY ON THE V6 ENGINE, NOT THE V8. I THINK DODGE NEEDS TO INCLUDE THE V8'S IN THIS RECALL AS THERE IS NO REASON MY ALTERNATOR SHOULD HAVE GONE OUT THIS SOON!!
I WAS DRIVING AND ACCIDENTALLY DRIFTED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC GUARD RAIL GOING APPROXIMATELY 45 I HIT (BEST GUESS) AT ABOUT A 40 DEGREE ANGLE. I HIT MY HEAD AND SHOULDER ON THE DRIVER SIDE GLASS AND AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
WHEN FILLING TANK UP WITH GAS FULL. FUMES FROM GAS CAN BE SMELLED INSIDE CAR. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND GOT A DIAGNOSTIC REPORTING EVAP LEAK. I TOOK IT TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP AND WAS QUOTED THAT GAS TANK SEALED WILL NEED REPLACE WITH FUEL PUMP.
EVERY TIME I FILL THE CAR UP WITH GAS TO FULL I SMELL FUMES INSIDE THE CAR. ALSO, IF THE CAR IS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WHICH IS AT A DOWNWARD SLOPE, FUEL RUNS DOWN THE FUEL LINES AND ONTO THE PAVED BLACKTOP, LEAVING TWO VISIBLY LARGE GASOLINE STAINS. UNTIL THE CAR HAS BURNED OFF HALF OF THE FILLED TANK, THE ODOR OF GASOLINE IS SO STRONG IN THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR IT GIVES ME BAD HEADACHES AND I HAVE TO ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN TO GET FRESH AIR. THIS HAS BEEN A NOTICEABLE PROBLEM FOR 6 MONTHS. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE JULY OF 2011. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE CAR MAY CATCH ON FIRE IF I CAN SMELL THE GASOLINE FUMES FROM INSIDE MY CAR.

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V467000 (AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS) AFTER THE CRASH OCCURRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 13V118000(AIR BAGS) AND A MANUFACTURER SERVICE CAMPAIGN FOR THE ENGINE TIMING CHAIN AND CHAIN GUIDE. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED FOR THE TIMING CHAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
AFTER REFILL INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE SHOWED HEAVY GAS SMELL. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED AND DISAPPEARED RANDOMLY. AFTER 2ND REFILL GAS SMELL RETURNED. LOCAL DEALER SUGGESTED EVAP CANISTER REPLACEMENT. WHEN CHECKING MORE THOROUGH IT SHOWED DURING REGULAR IDLE FUEL PUMP ON PASSENGER REAR WAS LEAKING DURING PRESSURE BUILD UP. ONCE FILLED GAS STARTED DRIPPING BEHIND RIGHT REAR WHEEL NEAR HOT EXHAUST PIPE. AFRAID THAT VEHICLE COULD CATCH FIRE DUE TO BATTERY WIRING BEING LOCATED IN IMMEDIATE AREA OF LEAK.
ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY
ABOUT 30 MINUTES AFTER REFUELING I NOTICED A STRONG FUEL INSIDE AND AROUND THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST TIME I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT THINKING THE MAYBE FUEL SPILLED DOING REFUELING. ON THE NEXT FILL UP I NOTICED THE SAME ODOR. THIS TIME I DECIDED TO CHECK TO SEE WHERE THE ODOR WAS COMING FROM. WHILE PARKED, I NOTICED FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM UNDER THE CAR NEAR THE REAR RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR. IT WAS A CONTINUOUS DRIP. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE ISSUE AND TO SEE IF THERE HAS BEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS/ RECALLS. THEY STATED THAT THEY WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. THEN I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE HAD BEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM AND NEED IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. THIS PROBLEM COULD CAUSE SOME SERIOUS INJURY OR EVEN DEATH. DUE TO THE COST OF THE REPAIR, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET THIS FIX. I HAVE NOTICED AS LONG AS I DIDN'T FILL THE TANK PASS 3/4 TANK, THE FUEL DOESN'T LEAK. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MATTER!
BROUGHT VEHICLE INTO DEALERSHIP DUE TO A "BATTERY SAVER MODE" MESSAGE IN MY EVIC, ALONG WITH A SLIGHT WINDING NOISE HEARD IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND A SLIGHT ELECTRICAL BURNING ODOR. DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE ISSUE AND SENT ME HOME. NEXT DAY, THE SAME MESSAGE APPEARED IN MY EVIC AND A VERY STRONG ELECTRICAL BURNING ODOR COULD BE SMELT COMING THROUGH MY VENTS IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY OBSERVED BOTH THE MESSAGE AND STRONG ODOR. POPPED VEHICLES HOOD AND A VERY STRONG ELECTRICAL BURNING ODOR WAS OBSERVED AND THE OUTSIDE OF THE ALTERNATOR WAS BLACK AND HOT. THEY INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE V-8, BUT THERE WAS FOR THE V-6 ALTERNATORS (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000) AND EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED DURING THE AFFECTED BUILD DATES, THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. WHEN I WENT OUT TO MOVE MY VEHICLE FROM WHERE I HAD PARKED, THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND EMERGENCY BRAKE (WAS NOT ENGAGED) LIGHTS WERE ON. WHEN VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO DRIVE, WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURNED ON AND VEHICLE STALLED OUT. CURRENTLY WAITING TO SEE IF WARRANTY COMPANY WILL COVER THE ALTERNATOR.
AFTER A REPAIR OF THE ALTERNATOR AT THE END OF SEPTEMBER AND BEGINNING OF OCTOBER 2014, A FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT ALSO IN OCTOBER 2014, AND THE RECALL REPLACEMENT OF THE ALTERNATOR IN JUNE 2015, THE CHECK ENGINE SOON LIGHT ON MY DODGE CHARGER LIT UP AGAIN IN AUGUST 2015. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR YET ANOTHER REPAIR ONLY FOR THEM TO RUN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIAGNOSTIC AND FOUND ANOTHER FUEL SYSTEM LEAK. HOWEVER, THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO SCHEDULE ME FOR A REPAIR UNTIL SEPTEMBER 1, 2015. AFTER TAKING THE CHARGER IN FOR REPAIR, FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC DISCOVERED THE FUEL FILLER TUBE WAS AT FAULT AND A REPLACEMENT WAS NECESSARY. I HAVE HAD IT REPAIRED AND TWO DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE SOON LIGHT HAS LIT BACK UP. I HAD TO TRAVEL FOR WORK SO I WILL UPDATE WITH MY NEXT COMPLAINT ONCE IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,436.

WHEN DRIVING THE CAR IT STARTED FLASHING THE ABS BRAKE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, THEN THE STEERING BECAME VERY HARD TO DO THEN IT WENT INTO BATTERY SAVING MODE AND THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING. WAS TOLD BY DODGE THE ALTERNATOR WENT OUT AND THAT THE V8'S WERE NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL ONLY THE V6'S EVEN THOUGH MINE DID THE SAME AS THE ONES UNDER RECALL.

GAS TANK RUBBING ON BACK SEAT CAUSEING HOLE IN GAS TANK LEAKS INTO PASSENGER COMPARTMENT
STARTED CAR WEDNESDAY MORNING. STRUGGLED TO START BUT DID START. LATER THAT DAY WENT TO PUT GAS AND STRUGGLED EVEN LONGER TO START BUT DID. IMMEDIATELY DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO A MECHANIC AND CAR WOULD NO LONGER START. ALL YOU HEARD WAS CLICKING. HAD IT TOWED 40 MILES AWAY TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS THE STARTER. REALLY?? STARTER ISSUES AT 83000?? SO FAR HAVE HAD TO REPLACE CAM SHAFT SENSOR, FAULTY HEADLAMPS, AIR BAGS, ABS AND BRAKE SYSTEM, ALTERNATOR, BATTERY, VALVE COVER GASKETS, AND NOW STARTER. CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD.

THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS INFORMED THAT THE THERMOSTAT WAS NOT PROPERLY CLOSED AND THAT A DIAGNOSIS NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V046000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) BUT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
FIRST THE ABS AND ESC LIGHTS CAME ON THEN THE MESSAGE BATTERY SAVER MODE THEN THE RADIO TURNED OFF AND THE AC STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR THEN THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND TRIED TO START IT BUT IT WOULD NOT START BUT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS DID COME ON FOR 1 PASS AND THE SPEEDOMETER AND TAC ALSO DID 1 PASS LEFT TO RIGHT AND BACK SLOWLY. CHECKED THE INTERNET AND SEEN OTHERS WITH SAME PROBLEM CAUSE BY THE ALTERNATOR AND THEIR IS A CURRENT RECALL ON THE V6 BUT I HAVE THE HEMI V8. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DODGE DEALER.
ON 7-25-15 I FILLED CAR UP WITH GAS AND AFTER DOING SO SMELLED A STRONG GAS SMELL ON THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. I CAME HOME AND PARKED THE CAR. MY HUSBAND WENT OUTSIDE NEAR THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED SMELL AND BEGIN TO DO A WALK AROUND THE VEHICAL AND NOTICE THAT IT WAS LEAKING GAS FROM THE TANK. HE IMMEDIATELY WENT TO THE INSIDE OF THE CAR AND PULLED OUT THE BACK SEAT AND NOTICE THE GAS WERE COME FROM AROUND THE SEAL OF THE GAS TANK. HE SAID WE NEED TO GET SOME OF THE GAS OUT OF THE TANK. WE DRIVE IT A DISTANCE TO SEE IF THE SMELL WOULD GO AWAY BUT IT NEVER DID UNTIL IT WERE AT A HALF OF TANK. HE THEN ON 7-27-15 REPLACED THE SEAL AND WENT BACK TO THE GAS STATION TO FILL THE CAR UP AGAIN AND THE STRONG FUEL SMELL RETURNED AND THE TANK BEING LEAKING AGAIN. I THEN STARTED TO LOOK AND SEE IF THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE AND NOTICED IT SEEMS TO BE A KNOW DANGEROUS ISSUE WITH THE GAS TANK ON THIS VEHICLE THAT NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO ASAP. I AM SO AFRAID THAT IF SOME THROWS SOMETHING FLAMMABLE NEAR THIS VEHICLE ITS GOING TO IGNITE. VERY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS RESOLVING!!

ON 07/20/2015 AT AROUND 1:15 I PARKED MY VEHICLE IN CONCORD MILLS MALL PARKING LOT, WENT IN TO RETURN A PRODUCT. I RETURNED TO MY CAR AROUND 1:25, ATTEMPTED TO START MY VEHICLE(PUSH BUTTON START) IT CYCLED TO THE "RUN" POSITION, BUT THE CAR DIDN'T START. AFTER ABOUT 4 ATTEMPTS I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG BECAUSE I SMELT A "BURNT ELECTRICAL SMELL". I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND POPPED MY HOOD, I TOOK A LOOK AROUND AT ALL PHYSICAL FEATURES OF THE ENGINE TO TRY AND LOCATE A VISUAL PROBLEM. NOTHING WAS VISIBLE TO MY EYE, I THEN GOT BACK INTO THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE AGAIN, AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS I CALLED TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO ASK A COUPLE QUESTIONS ON WHAT MIGHT BE GOING ON, AFTER SOME SPECULATION WE CAME TO CHECK MY FUSES. I THEN EXITED THE VEHICLE AND TOOK A LOOK AT MY FUSE BOX LOCATED UNDER MY HOOD, I NOTICED THAT I HAD A 30AMP 58V "BOXED SHAPED FUSE" THAT HAD BLOWN. I VISITED A NEAR BY ADVANCE AUTO PARTS STORE TO PURCHASE A FUSE, THEY DID HAVE ONE SO I PURCHASED THE FUSE AND RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE TO INSTALL. ONCE I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE I DISCONNECTED MY "+ POSITIVE" BATTERY TERMINAL AND INSTALLED THE FUSE. AFTERWARDS I RECONNECTED THE BATTERY TERMINAL AND ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE AGAIN. ONCE AGAIN I GOT NOTHING, I ALSO CHECKED THE FUSE AND IT HAD BLOWN AGAIN. I THEN CONTACTED A TOW TRUCK AND WAS TOWED TO HENEDRICK DODGE ON 7/20 AROUND 5:45. THEY CONTACTED ME ON 7/21 AND I WAS TOLD THAT MY ENGINE WIRE HARNESS HAD MELTED!! AND THAT IT HAD SHORTED OUT MY STARTER. I'M VERY UPSET BECAUSE I FEEL THAT THIS ENGINE HARNESS COULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE. MY OBD DIDN'T MAKE ME AWARE OF ANY TYPE OF ISSUE OR NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT EVER CAME ON. MY CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED ON TIME TO FACTORY STANDARDS AT ONLY DODGE DEALERSHIPS. NO MAJOR WORK HAS EVER BEEN DONE TO MY VEHICLE BEFORE ALSO. I'M GETTING THE $1600.00 FIX BUT FEEL BOTHER THAT SOMETHING COULD CATCH FIRE.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

ENGINE CAME ON. CAR WOULD NOT START. HAD TO JUMP START CAR
VEHICLE IS LEAKING FUEL AND FILLING INTERIOR CABIN WITH GASOLINE FUMES AFTER REFUELING. GASOLINE IS POOLING ON THE GROUND WHEN PARKED. DODGE INFORMED OF THIS PROBLEM THROUGH CUSTOMER SERVICE. WAS INFORMED THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE HOWEVER, THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE DODGE CHALLENGER HELLCAT FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM.

I OWNED AND PURCHASED MY 2011 DODGE CHARGER SINCE 5-17-2014. ON 7-13-2015, MY SON WAS GETTING READY TO LEAVE ART INSTITUTES OF ATLANTA/DECATUR, THE 2011 CHARGER HE WAS OPERATING WOULD NOT CRANK. AFTER THE WRECKER ARRIVED TO GET READY AND TOW, THE CAR CRANKED AND HE MADE IT HOME FROM DECATUR, GA TO MCDONOUGH, GA. THE NEXT DAY, 7-14-2015, I TRIED TO START THE CAR AND IT WOULDN'T CRANK TILL I CALLED A WRECKER ON 7-16-15 TO TOW THE VEHICLE TO LANDMARK DODGE IN MORROW, GA. THEY CALLED ME ON 7-20-2015 AND INFORMED ME MY WARRANTY OR CHRYSLER WOULD NOT COVER THE ISSUE BOTHERING THE CAR (LOST ENGINE GROUND AND MELTED GROUND WIRE, LEFT SIDE ENGINE AT MOTOR MOUNT). THEY TESTED THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM, STARTER, STARTER WIRING AND RELAY, AND TIGHTENED ALL ENGINE GROUNDS, REPLACED ENGINE GROUND LEFT SIDE AT MOTOR MOUNT. IT WAS REPAIRED ON 7-20-2015. THE REPAIR CAME UP TO $308.29 (PARTS AND LABOR). PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER ON THE 2011 CHARGER BEFORE IT HAPPENS TO SOMEONE ELSE AND IT REALLY COSTED ME. UPDATED 9/28/15 *LN. WITH VEHICLE IN PARK AND BRAKE PEDDLE PUSHED DOWN, GEAR SHIFTER WOULD NO SHIFT FROM PARK TO ANY GEAR. TURNED CAR OFF AND OPEN DOOR THEN SHUT DOOR. RESTARTED THE CAR AND STILL SAME RESULTS. LOOKED UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN AND FOUND A METAL BRACKET HAD FALLEN OUT FROM THE SHIFT COLUMN. UPON REPLACING THE METAL BRACKET, SHIFTER WOULD SHIFT TO ANY GEAR BUT WOULD NOT GO BACK INTO PARK. SHIFTER WOULD STOP IN NEUTRAL AND NOT GO TO REVERSE OR PARK. UPON TILTING THE METAL BRACKET THAT HAD FALLEN, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD RETURN TO REVERSE AND PARK.
