TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V118000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
6/19/15 THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ORIGINALLY FOR A RECALL ON THE ALTERNATOR. AFTER THE JOB WAS COMPLETED I DROVE THE CAR HOME AND HAD TROUBLE SHUTTING IT OFF. AFTER SHIFTING IT THROUGH THE GEARS SEVERAL TIMES IT SHUT OFF. THE NEXT DAY I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE NEXT WEEKEND AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR HOME AND IT SHUT OFF FINE. THE NEXT DAY THE PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THIS TIME THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD TO SHIFT IT THROUGH THE GEARS AND IT WOULD BE FINE. ALSO TOLD THAT THE ONLY WAY TO SHUT THE CAR OFF WAS TO REMOVE A FUSE TO THE FUEL INJECTION. TRULY NOT AN ACCEPTABLE ANSWER. 7/13/15 THE CAR WOULDN'T SHUT OFF AT ALL. DROVE IT TO THE DEALER AND IT'S BEEN THERE EVER SINCE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD SEVERAL DIFFERENT THINGS BY THE DEALER, LITHIA DODGE, MEDFORD, OR. THE LATEST IS AN ACTUAL DODGE CORPORATE ENGINEER IS SUPPOSED TO CALL THEM BACK. NOT EXACTLY SURE HOW A CAR CAN BE DESIGNED WITHOUT AN ALTERNATE WAY TO SHUT IT OFF IF THE PUSH BUTTON START AND STOP DOES NOT WORK. THE DATES ARE APPROXIMATE AS MY PAPERWORK IS IN THE CAR.

WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR FLASHED RANDOMLY, AND THE AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING FUNCTIONS FAILED TO WORK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE ACTUATOR, COMPRESSOR, AND THERMOSTAT WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE SERVICE ENGINE INDICATOR CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE AND THE VEHICLE DROVE ROUGHLY. THE CONTACT ALSO RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V352000 (AIR BAGS). THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE BECAUSE THEY WERE ON A NATIONAL BACKORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I NOTICED THERE IS A RECALL ON EXTERIOR HEADLIGHTS ON 2011 DODGE CHARGERS, MANUFACTURED BETWEEN MAY 2010 AND NOVEMBER 2011 MY CHARGER R/T MAX WAS MANUFACTURED IN THAT TIME. BUT THIS RECALL IS NOT NOTED TO MY VIN #, I LOOKED INTO IT THE RECALL IS ON EXTERIOR HEADLIGHTS IS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CHARGERS MANUFACTURED IN THE TIME NOTED ABOVE, THAT IS EXACTLY THE PROBLEM IN MY VEHICLE MANUFACTURED IN THE SAME TIME FRAME. WHEN I START MY CAR THE LIGHTS TURNS ON, BUT AFTER I BEGIN DRIVING THEY TURN OFF ON THE RIGHT SIDE.

STARTED MY VEHICLE AND AS I DROVE AWAY FROM PARKED, WARNING MESSAGE (BATTERY SAVING MODE). ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER 2 MILES, CAR BEGAN TO SMELL OF "ELECTRICAL BURNING". WHEN CAR STOPPED, ALL POWER LOST. OPENED HOOD AND ALTERNATOR WAS SMOKING. HAD CAR TOWED TO DODGE, AND AM TOLD NO RECALL ON MY VIN (5.7L ENGINE), EVEN THOUGH THIS IS THE EXACT PROBLEM THAT THE 3.6L ENGINES HAVE AND ARE RECALLED. I AM SEEKING FULL REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE COST OF THIS $786!
FILLED GAS TANK ON WAY TO WORK. GOT IN CAR TO GO TO LUNCH AND NOTICED A STRONG GAS SMELL. CALLED MY HUSBAND (HE IS AN ASE CERTIFIED MASTER TECH, GM MASTER TECH.) HE INFORMED ME THERE MUST BE A FUEL LEAK. THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, HE PUT HIS SCANNER ON IT AND IT PULLED A CODE OF P0496 (SMALL LEAK DETECTED). THE SMELL WOULD GO AWAY WHEN THE GAS LEVEL WAS UNDER 1/2 TANK. WOULD ONLY FILL TO 1/2 AFTER THAT. AFTER A WEEK OR SO THE SMELL WOULD COME BACK WITH ONLY 1/2 TANK OF GAS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS STAYED ON ALL THIS TIME. HUSBAND PULLED THE REAR SEAT OUT ON JULY 11TH TO DISCOVER FUEL POOLING FROM THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER FUEL MODULE, THE GAS WAS LEAKING THROUGH THE PLASTIC. CONTACTED THE DODGE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE UNAWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS LIKE THIS. JULY 12TH WE ORDERED A NEW BOSCH PREMIUM FUEL PUMP (PART# 67774). ON JULY 17TH I RAN THE FUEL DOWN SO ONLY 1 GALLON WAS LEFT IN TANK. LET THE CAR SIT FOR 2 HRS. HUSBAND REMOVED THE MAIN PUMP, WHICH FELL APART. UPON REMOVING THE PRIMARY FUEL PUMP (RIGHT SIDE) THE PRESSURE WAS SO STRONG IT BLEW FUEL ALL OVER HIM AND THE INTERIOR OF THE BACK SEAT. THE PUMP HOLDS FUEL PRESSURE FOR WAY TO LONG AFTER IT IS TURNED OFF. NOT TO MENTION THAT THERE IS ONLY 2 PIECES OF PLASTIC/FOAM BETWEEN THE FUEL PUMPS AND THE BACK SEAT. THAT, IN ITSELF IS DANGEROUS. IS THE EXCESSIVE PRESSURE WHAT CAUSED THE PLASTIC FUEL PUMP TO CRACK AND ALLOW THE FUEL TO POOL ON TOP? I LOVE MY CAR BUT AM VERY AFRAID TO DRIVE IT NOW. I AM NOT ONLY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY BUT ALSO THE SAFETY OF ANYONE SITTING IN THE BACKSEAT (KIDS/GRANDKIDS). WHAT IF I GET REAR ENDED AND THERE IS A SPARK THAT IGNITES THE POOLED FUEL, WILL CHRYSLER THEN ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM AFTER MY CAR EXPLODES? ALTERNATOR FAILURE IN A 4 YEAR OLD CAR. WOW. DRIVING DOWN THE AUTOBAHN AT 130KPH, AND YOUR CAR SHUTS OFF, NOT COOL. SHOULD HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH BEFORE I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE.

I HAVE A 2011 DODGE CHARGER R/T AWD MAX AND ABOUT A YEAR AGO SOME OF THE "RACETRACK" TAILLIGHT LED'S STARTED GOING OUT ON THE BOTTOM ON EACH SIDE. NOW THIS WINTER I WENT OUT TO STORAGE TO START IT UP AND I NOTICED THAT I NOW HAVE EVEN MORE LED'S THAT ARE OUT. NOT ONLY DO I VIEW THIS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE THESE LED'S ESSENTIALLY ACT AS THE CARS REAR RUNNING LIGHTS, BUT IT IS ONE OF THE KEY FEATURES OF THIS CAR AND IT LOOKS REALLY CRUMMY WHEN THEY GO OUT. AND I KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE. I HAVE SEEN AND HEARD MANY PEOPLE THAT OWN 2011-2014 DODGE CHARGERS HAVE THIS ISSUE. I THINK DODGE SHOULD STEP IN AND REPLACE THE CENTER SECTION OF THE TAIL LIGHTS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND DROVE DOWN A HILL AND INTO A SWAMP OF WATER. DURING THE CRASH, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUFFERED A HEAD INJURY DURING THE INCIDENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL HAD A LOUD METAL ON METAL SCRAPING NOISE, BOTH WITH BRAKING AND WITHOUT BRAKING, IN BOTH DRIVE AND IN REVERSE POSITIONS. THE NOISE ONLY LASTED FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO MILES AND COULD NOT BE REPLICATED, WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE TIRE PLACE. THEY DID REPLACE SOME BRAKE HARDWARE ON THAT SIDE, SAYING THAT IT WAS A THIN METAL PIECE BEHIND THE BRAKE PAD WAS BENT. BUT NOW, TWO WEEKS LATER THE WHEEL WAS MAKING THE SAME NOISE BUT NOT AS LOUDLY AND IT ALSO WENT AWAY ON ITS OWN AFTER DRIVING A FEW MILES. IN ADDITION MY DRIVERS FRONT TIRE IS TERRIBLY OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND WORE THE OUTER EDGE OF THE TIRE NEARLY BALD. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE BRAKE HARDWARE OR NOT, I HAVE NOT FULLY INVESTIGATED IT YET. WHEN THE TIRE SHOP DID AN ALIGNMENT ON MY CAR THEY WERE UNABLE TO CORRECT MY ALIGNMENT PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT HAD TO DO WITH THE WAY THAT THE MOTOR WAS SITTING IN MY CAR. MY CAR IS AN ALL-WHEEL-DRIVE AND IT WAS INTO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR THE TIMING CHAIN GUIDE RECALL A YEAR AGO. MY TIRES AT THAT POINT TIME WE'RE ONLY TWO YEARS OLD NOW THEY ARE ONLY THREE YEARS OLD. THE UNEVEN WEAR ON THE TIRE HAS BEEN WITHIN THE LAST YEAR. AT THE RECALL REPAIR MY CAR HAD 33,000 MILES ON IT AND CURRENTLY MY CAR HAS 43,000 MILES ON IT. I HAD NEW TIRES PUT ON AT 18,000 MILES. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT RANDOMLY ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AFTER BEING SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V197000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, SERVICE BRAKES, AIR). THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,200.
RECEIVED MESSAGE ON CONSOLE WHY DRIVING "BATTERY SAVER MODE" DROVE 1 MILE AND PULLED INTO GAS STATION. WHILE PARKED AND CAR RUNNING RADIO, ABS, STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEMS ALL WENT OFFLINE. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND SMELLED ELECTRICAL BURNING. OPENED HOOD AND BURNING SMELL WAS STRONGER. I RETURNED TO THE CAR AND ALL ELECTRICAL POWER WAS COMPLETELY DRAINED. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED UNDER MY CARPORT FOR APPROXIMATELY 35-40 MINUTES. I CAME OUT GOT IN THE CAR AND SEEN SMOKE COMING FROM THE PASSENGER VISOR. I PULLED THE VISOR DOWN AND IT BURST INTO FLAMES. I JUMPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE RAN BACK IN THE HOUSE CALLED 911 AND STARTED APPLYING WATER BUT THE FLAMES KEPT COMING BACK. THEN FINALLY AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS I PUT THE FIRE OUT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS A RECURRING FAILURE. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC REPAIRED THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY AND FRAMING. I NOTICED A STRONG GAS SMELL IN AND AROUND THE CAR SEVERAL WEEKS AGO AFTER FILLING UP BUT I DID NOT OVERFILL OR SPILL GAS ANYWHERE. AFTER HAVING A MECHANIC DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE HE FOUND THAT THE FUEL PUMP UNDER THE REAR SEAT ON THE RIGHT SIDE WAS LEAKING AND HAD FUEL POOLING UP AT THE TOP. AS FIRST STEP HE REPLACED THE O-RING SEAL ON THE FUEL UP. AFTER REPLACING THE SEAL THERE WAS NO LEAK INITIALLY BUT IT OCCURRED AGAIN AFTER THE NEXT FILL UP. SO IT SEEMS THE LEAK ONLY OCCURS WHEN THE GAS TANK IS FULL. SINCE THE SEAL WAS ALREADY REPLACED BUT THE LEAK IS STILL THERE I TOOK IT TO THE DODGE DEALER WHO WILL HAVE TO DIAGNOSE IT FURTHER BUT THEY TOLD ME THAT IT IS MOST LIKELY THE GAS TANK THAT IS LEAKING AND THEY HAVE SEEN MANY PROBLEMS LIKE THIS ALREADY AND I AM NOT THE FIRST ONE. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT DODGE HAS UPDATED THE FUEL TANK RECENTLY SO OBVIOUSLY THERE IS A FLAW WITH THE OLD DESIGN WHICH IS PROBABLY WHY I AM HAVING PROBLEMS. NOT ONLY IS THIS A COSTLY REPAIR WHICH IS UNFAIR TO CONSUMERS BUT IT POSES DANGER SINCE FUEL IS LEAKING UNDER THE SEAT AND COULD POTENTIALLY IGNITE AND SET THE WHOLE CAR ON FIRE. *TR

WE HAD RECALL P08 HEADLAMP WIRING PERFORMED ON 2/22/15 AT PALMEN DODGE IN RACINE WI. 2 MONTHS LATER WE MOVED TO ARIZONA. WITHIN 6 MONTHS AFTER THIS RECALL WAS ADDRESSED WE CONTINUED TO HAVE HEADLIGHTS GO OUT. AFTER A COUPLE OF TIMES I STARTED KEEPING RECEIPTS. APPROX. EVERY 6 MONTHS WE HAD TO REPLACE OUR HEADLIGHTS (SOMETIMES 1, SOMETIMES BOTH). WE FINALLY HAD A DEALERSHIP BUILT NEAR OUR HOUSE THIS YEAR (RODEO DODGE- SAN TAN VALLEY AZ) SO WE WERE ABLE TO TAKE IT IN WITHOUT TOO MUCH INCONVENIENCE- WE ONLY HAVE 1 CAR & NO RENTAL WAS OFFERED. THE IDENTIFIED THE ISSUE WAS A HEADLAMP HARNESS AND NEEDED TO REPLACE IT. THE COST FOR THIS WORK WAS $729.77. THEY ADVISED THAT IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER THE PREVIOUS RECALL. HOWEVER WHEN READING THE P08 RECALL IT DOES INDICATE "YOUR DEALER WILL REPLACE THE HEADLAMP HARNESSES AND REPLACE THEM IF REQUIRED". IT SEEMS OBVIOUS TO ME THAT THERE WAS A HARNESS OVERLOOKED WHEN THE RECALL WAS ADDRESSED IN 2015 THAT CAUSED US TO CONTINUALLY REPLACE HEADLAMPS EVERY 6 MONTHS. I HAVE RECEIPTS FROM THESE HEADLAMPS FROM: FEB 2017, DEC 2017, MAY 2018. THERE WERE A COUPLE ADDITIONAL TIMES BETWEEN MAR 2016 AND FEB 2017 THAT I DID NOT THINK TO KEEP RECEIPTS. I FINALLY HAD THE ISSUE ADDRESSED WHEN BOTH HEADLAMPS WENT OUT IN DEC 2018. SERVICE WASN'T COMPLETED UNTIL 3/5/19 AS IT WAS DIFFICULT FOR US TO BE WITHOUT A CAR FOR THE LENGTH OF TIME WE KNEW IT WOULD TAKE TO HAVE FIXED. I AM ASKING FOR REIMBURSEMENT FROM DODGE IN THE AMOUNT OF $971.37 TO COVER THE WORK DONE TO REPLACE THE HARNESSES AND REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE HEADLIGHTS I NEEDED TO HAVE REPLACED OVER TIME (ONLY THE ONES I HAVE RECEIPTS FOR). ON START UP, THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON. I CHECKED THE TIRE PRESSURE READ OUT FOR ALL TIRES AND FOUND I WAS NOT RECEIVING A READING FROM THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL. I CONTACTED A LOCAL SHOP TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS RECALL FOR 2011 AND 2012 CHARGER'S WITH POLICE GROUP. I WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE DIDN'T QUALIFY WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. CAR ONLY HAS A LITTLE OVER 24K MILES AND IS 3 1/2 YEARS OLD.
