WHILE SHIFT LEVER INDICATOR WAS IN PARK AND ENGINE WAS IDLING VEHICLE JUMPED INTO REVERSE AND TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET. VEHICLE CRASHED INTO TREES, CAUSING PROPERTY AND VEHICLE DAMAGE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES DURING THIS INCIDENT. DEALERSHIP EXAMINED VEHICLE, AND REPLACED DRIVESHAFT IN AN ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. ON 06-NOV-2001, WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AND IDLING, IT JUMPED OUT OF PARK INTO REVERSE AND TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 20 FEET. IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP VEHICLE, A TIRE ROLLED OVER OWNERS ANKLE. DEALERSHIP WAS CURRENTLY EXAMINING VEHICLE FOR SECOND INCIDENT. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / DOCUMENTATION. *AK
THE VEHICLE CHANGED GEARS WITHOUT THE BRAKES BEING APPLIED.*JB
UPON STOPPING VEHICLE ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS 2ND & 3RD ROW SEATBELTS (WITH CHILD CAR SEAT IN THEM) DISCONNECTED THEMSELVES CAUSING THE CHILD CAR SEAT TO FALL FORWARD.
I HAD HEARD THAT THERE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE DODGE DURANGO BALL JOINTS GOING OUT BEFORE 60,000 MILES. I TOOK THE SUV TO THE DEALER AND THEY TRIED TO TELL ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. I WENT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER AND THEY REPLACED MY ENTIRE LOWER CONTROL ARMS.*AK
ENGINE HEAD BLEW WHILE GOING 60MPH. CONSUMER NOTIFIED DEALER. CONSUMER WILL ADD ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.*AK
WHILE DRIVING, THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL LEVER BECAME DISENGAGED FROM THE TRANSMISSION, BECAUSE DEALER DID NOT INITIALLY FILL THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TO ITS MAXIMUM OPERATING CAPACITY, ALSO THE LINKAGES HAD COME UNDONE, PROBLEM HAS REOCCURRED 3 TIMES.*ET
I HAVE A 2000 DODGE DURANGO WITH THE UPPER BALL JOINT PROBLEM IN THE SUSPENSION. IT HAS BEEN AN ACTIVE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT THE LAST 40,000 MILES. I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX IT, NOR DO I BELIEVE IT'S MY OBLIGATION TO FIX IT. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL, SINCE THIS IS A DESIGN ISSUE, AND DODGE SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING THIS SAFETY HAZARD. IT IS ALSO A NUISANCE SINCE IT CREATES A VERY LOUD SOUND ON TURNS AND BUMPS. MANY PEOPLE STARE AT MY DURANGO WHEN THEY HEAR THIS NOISE. IT DOESN'T HELP THEM SELL CARS! *JB
THE CUP HOLDERS IN THE FRONT ARE VERY DANGROUS CAUSE THEY WILL NOT HOLD A LARGE CUP SHEN YOU COME TO A STOP. THE DRINK GOES FLYING AT LOW SPEEDS TO THE PASSANGER OR DRIVER FLOOR CAUSEING DRIVER TO REACT WITH ONE HAND TO RECOVER IT , LEAVING THE OTHER ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND CAUSING YOU TO JURK IT AND CHANGE LANES AND POSSIBEL ACCIDENT IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND ONE CAN NOT CONTROL YOUR REACTION.. VERY DANGEROUS BUT A VERY SIMPLE FIX!!*K
HIT GUARD RAIL HEAD ON AT 65MPH, AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY, ROLLED TRUCK 2-3 TIMES. SECOND NEW DODGE AUTO THAT AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY IN ACCIDENT.
WHEN TRYING TO STOP, THE BRAKES SEEM TO GRAB AND THEN THE CAR SLIDES AND THEN THE BRAKES WOULD GRAB AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES AND RESULTED IN CONCERN RE: THE SAFETY OF THE BRAKES. SOMETIMES THERE IS A CLICKING SOUND AFTER THIS HAPPENS. THEREFORE THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DODGE DEALER TO HAVE THE BREAKS CHECKED AND NO PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED. BUT ON 4/7/01, WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, A LOUD ROARING SOUND OCCURED AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO SLIDE AS IF THERE WERE NO BRAKES, WHICH CAUSED A COLLISION INTO THE REAR OF A VEHICAL AT A STOPLIGHT. THE NOISE CONTINUED AFTER THE COLLISION FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS, FOLLOWED BY A STRONG BURNING ELECTRICAL SMELL. THE CAR WAS DRIVEN TO A PARKING LOT AND HAS BEEN DRIVEN HOME AND DOES HAVE BRAKING ACTION NOW. *AK
WHEN CAR GOES OVER ANY BUMP IT MAKE A GROANING NOISE. SOUNDS LIKE MY 10 YEAR OLD PICKUP. IN THE SHOP 2 TIME. NOT FIXED. *AK
I HAVE HAD THREE INCIDENTS OF BRAKE FAILURE WITH MY 2000 (2WD, ABS) DURANGO. ONE RESULTED IN A THREE-CAR ACCIDENT WITH A TOTAL OF $38,000 (AND STILL COUNTING) DAMAGE.*AK
RIGHT TIRE BLEW OUT ON 3 LANE HIGHWAY, CAR SWERVED TO LEFT TO AVOID 18 WHEELER , HIT THE DITCH, SPUN AND HIT THE GUARDRAIL END, WHICH BLEW THE LEFT FRONT TIRE AND CAR SPUN ACROSS 3 LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. MY 16 YEAR OLD SON HIS GIRLFRIEND AND MY 9 YEAR OLD NARROWLY ESCAPED INJURY . POLICEMAN AT SCENE WAS LEARY OF TIRES FROM THE START. SO ARE WE. *AK (TIRESIZE: XW4)( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: XW4 )

SINCE OWNERSHIP OF THE VEHICLE TWO ENGINES WERE REPLACED. FRONT END HAD BEEN REALIGNED ON AT LEAST TWO OCCASIONS DUE TO EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE TIRES. ALSO, FUEL PUMP HAD BEEN REPLACED TWICE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND GOING OVER A BUMP VEHICLE LOSES CONTROL. IT FEELS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE, IT FEELS LIKE VEHICLE IS GOING TO CRASH INTO NEXT VEHICLE. TOOK TO DEALER, AND THEY SAID ITS ONE OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TRUCK. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
2000 DODGE DURANGO 2 WHEEL DRIVE. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW. CURRENTLY HAS 39,000 MILES ON IT. AVE HAD TO REPLACE BOTH UPPER BALL JOINTS ON THE VEHICLE ALREADY (APPROXIMATELY 23,000 MILES WERE ON THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME). NOW, I AM TOLD, I HAVE TO REPLACE THE RIGHT UPPER AGAIN. I ALSO HAVE TO REPLACE THE RIGHT INNER TIE-ROD, AND THE RACK & PINION BUSHINGS. I HAVE HAD CONSTANT FRONT TIRE WEAR PROBLEMS SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW. I AM ON MY THIRD SET OF TIRES FOR THE FRONT END.*AK

THERE IS A CONSTANT SQUEAKING NOISE WHICH BECOMES LOUDER WHEN HITTING A BUMP OR TURNING THE WHEEL. A DEALERSHIP HAD FIXED IT THE FIRST TIME AND THEN HAD TO REPLACE IT AGAIN ONLY DAYS LATER, STATING THAT IT WAS A DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. SIDEVIEW MIRRORS ARE OVERSIZED AND CREATE A BLIND SPOT FOR SMALLER DRIVERS. THREE TIMES MY WIFE CAME VERY CLOSE TO ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS BLINDSPOT. MFR REFUSE TO REPLACE OR RECOGNIZE THERE IS A PROBLEM

WINDING SOUND IN STEERING WHEN TUNING WHEEL,HORIBLE SOUND WHILE TURNING WHEELS AND BACKING UP,DOOR LOCKS ARE IN LOCKED POSITION (CAN'T OPEN TO GET OUT OF CAR AND LOUD SOUND GOING OFF WHEN DOOR LOCKS ARE SUPPOSED TO SELF LOCK AT 25 MPH)BOUGHT CAR IN 2001, AFTER 6 MO TOOK CAR TO DEARERSHIP TO REPORT PROBLEMS WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. STILL HAVE PAPERWORK TO SHOW OF THE COMPLAINTS.I HAVE 3 SMALL GRANDCHILDREN I TAKE CARE OF AND TRANSPORT IN THE VEHICLE. MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON THE AZ 101 FREEWAY SOUTHBOUND IN THE 'FAST LANE" WHEN THE TWO LEFT SIDE TIRES, FRONT AND REAR, BLUE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SPIN TWO COMPLETE REVOLUTIONS AND END UP IN THE CENTER LANE IN A NORTHBOUND DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE DID NOT TURN OVER, BUT MY DAUGHTER DID SUFFER A CONCUSSION, BRUISED CHEST, WHIPLASH AND INJURIES TO HER HIP. SHE IS CURRENTLY RECEIVING MEDICAL TREATMENT. SINCE THE ACCIDENT WE HAVE DISCOVERED THAT ANOTHER OF THE TIRES HAS A PIECE OF THE TREAD ABOUT THE SIZE OF A HALF DOLLAR, THAT HAS LIFTED FROM THE CENTER PART OF THE TIRE CASING. VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION AT 40MPH. UPON IMPACT, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.*AK
I CARRIED MY VEHICLE TO SEARS AUTOMOTIVE SHOP TO HAVE MY BRAKES CHECKED BECAUSE MY BRAKE PEDAL WAS SPONGY. THE MECHANICS CHECKED MY TRUCK AND SAID MY BRAKES WERE FINE, BUT I HAD A BAD MASTER CYLINDER. THEY DIDN'T TOUCH ANYTHING, BUT THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER BECAUSE IT'S UNDER WARRANTY. CARL GREGORY CHECKED THE BRAKES AND CAME TO THE SAME CONCLUSION, THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS BAD. THEY ORDERED THE PART AND IT WAS IN THE NEXT DAY. THEY PUT THE NEW MASTER CYLINDER ON AND MY BRAKES ARE STILL SPONGY. MY BRAKE PEDAL CONTINUES TO GO ALMOST TO THE FLOOR BEFORE THEY START BRAKING. I AM STILL TRYING TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED.*AK
PRESSED BRAKE ABS KICKED IN AND WOULD NOT STOP. CLEAR DAY, DRY CLEAN ROAD, AND NO SKIDDING. 3TIMES IN SHOP STILL A PROBLEM. *AK
VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE SHORTLY AFTER PARKING IT. IT GAVE NO INDICATION OF A PROBLEM PREVIOUS TO THE FIRE. DEALER GAVE NO EXPLANATION OR REASON FOR THE FIRE. *AK
OIL FILL, WHEN CHANGING OIL, THERE IS A MILKY WHITE SUBSTANCE. HAS NOT AFFECTED PERFORMANCE OF VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.*AK
NO WRECK - FIRST, COMPLAINED TO DODGE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED A "BELT" SAYING THAT'S WHAT IT WAS IN 2000 AFTER 22397 MILES, THEN I COULDN'T TAKE THE SQUEEKING ANY MORE IN 2001 AND HAD THE WHOLE UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY REPLACED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC AT 41306 SINCE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY BY THEN. THIS MECHANIC WAS SHOCKED THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD TO HAVE THIS REPLACED, BUT FOUND IT WAS THE SOURCE OF MY "SQUEEK". CONTINUAL SQUEEK FROM ABOUT 17000 MILES UP TO WHEN FIXED AT 41306 MILES. SEEMS, IT'S STARTING TO DO IT AGAIN SOMEWHAT (NOT LIKE ORIGINAL PROBLEM THOUGH). NOW, NO ONE WILL WANT TO PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE AS A USED CAR, PLUS THE TRADE-IN VALUE WILL DROP DRAMATICALLY. *AK

WHILE MAKING A TURN POWER STEERING LOCKED UP, AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY DEALER, THAT THE CLOCK SPRING BROKE, AND THAT THIS COULD CAUSE THE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY.*AK
DRIVING ON TO AND ON RAMP AT ABOUT 7MPH THE TRUCK BEGAN ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND WE SPINNED OUT OF CONTROL TO THE LEFT AND HIT A GAURDRAIL, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE FRONT BUMPER/RIGHT FENDER AND RADIATOR, MAYBE MORE I WILL GET AND ACTUALL COST ESTIMATE TODAY. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE CRUSIE CONTROL IS ACTIVATING BY ITSELF. *AK
WHEN VEHICLE IS IDLING AT A RED LIGHT RPMS WILL GO UP AND DOWN, THEN ENGINE WILL STALL. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. *AK
I HAVE TWO: 1: BRAKE ROTORS ARE ONCE AGAIN OUT OF ROUND/WARPED SUV HAS 37,000MILES ON IT, USED MOSTLY ON WEEKENDS. PADS HAVE OVER 90 PERCENT LEFT. FIRST ROTORS WERE CHANGED AT 20,000 MILES (ABOUT 1-2 YEARS AGO) PADS THEN WERE STILL 80 PERCENT LEFT. MY OTHER CAR , DRIVEN JUST AS MUCH, DOES NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. 2- POWER STEERING IS NON-EXISTANT WHEN TEMP IS UNDER 32 DEGREES. AFTER YOU LET THE CAR WARM UP ABOUT 1 MIN., IT STARTS TO WORK.*AK
CONSUMER WAS IN TRAFFIC AND TRIED TO SLAM ON BRAKES BECAUSE ANOTHER DRIVER IN FRONT HAD STOPPED, AND CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP, CONSUMER STOOD ON BRAKES, AND VEHICLE STILL DIDN'T STOP.*AK DEPRESSING BRAKES TO FLOOR CAUSED THE ENGINE TO REV UP TO A HIGHER IDLE RPM. *YH

WHEN DRIVING ON UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE AS I-94 FWY, VEHICLE EXPEIRENCES LOSS OF SPUR TRACTION AND BRAKE-OUT. IN THREE LANE TRAFIC, BRAK-OUT IS A MAJOR FAILURE AND CAUSES WITH UN-EXPIREANCED DRIVER BAD EXIDENCE. PLEASE CHECK WITH MANUFACTURE, SINCE 5 OTHER OWNERS IN MY COMPANY EXPERIANCE THE SAME INCEDENT ALLMOST ANY DAY. *AK
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF MY 2000 DURANGO SLT 4X4, SINCE THE TIME OF PURCHASE IN 2000. I HAD MY VEHICLE IN THE SHOP FOR THE REAR ROOF A/C FAN MOTOR GOING ON AND OFF EVERY TIME I AM IN THE CAR WHILE THE A/C SWITCH IS OFF. I HAVE ALL RECORDS AND CAN CONTACT THE DEALER FOR PROOF THAT THIS ISSUE WAS REPORTED, INSPECTED AND WORKED ON NUMEROUS TIMES AND NEVER RESOLVED. 9 YEARS LATER, AND THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS AND HAS LEFT ME QUITE UNHAPPY ESPECIALLY WHEN THIS VEHICLE WAS MY FIRST PURCHASE ON MY OWN AND I'M REMINDED OF THE ISSUE EVERYTIME I'M DRIVING THE CAR. I HAVE NO OTHER COMPLAINTS EXCEPT FOR THIS A/C ROOF UNIT FAN MOTOR GOING ON AND OFF ON ITS OWN FOR UNKNOWN REASON. SOMETIMES, IT MIGHT STOP IF I PLAY WITH THE TEMPERATURE AND FAN CONTROLLERS ON THE FRONT DASH, BUT HAS NOT BEEN SPECIFIC. I HAVE EVEN SPOKEN TO THE DEALER MANAGER WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITHIN DAYS AND WEEKS AND CONTINUED TO MONTHS AFTER NUMEROUS UNRESOLVED REPAIR ATTEMPTS TO CLAIM UNDER THE LEMON LAW AND THE DEALERSHIP GUIDED ME OTHERWISE. EVEN THOUGH ITS BEEN 9 YEARS, I STILL OWN THE VEHICLE AND REALLY DO WISH TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AS I PLAN TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE AS I DO KEEP IT ROUTINELY MAINTAINED AND SERVICED. THIS VEHICLE HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY/ROAD EIGHT (8) TIMES. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIR THREE TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS. THIS VEHICLE ALSO HAS A FAILURE TO START PROBLEM, ALSO OCCURING SEVERAL TIMES. REPAIR HAS BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL.
DUE TO DEFECTIVE BRAKE RETAINER SPRING WHICH CAME OFF AND CAUSED BRAKES TO BE LOOSE/ FALL AND CRACKED THE RIM, AND HAD NO BRAKING ABILITY WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED A CRASH. COMMON PROBLEM. DEALER WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
SIDE VIEW MIRROR BASE IS TOO LARGE TO SEE THROUGH, AND IS BLOCKING THE VIEW WHEN TRYING TO MAKES TURNS. DEALER HAD BEEN CONTACTED FOR THIS SITUATION. *AK THE OVER SIZED OUT SIDE MIRROR IS A DESIGN FLAW AND THE DRIVER IS EXPERIENCING DIFFICULTY IN MAKING LEFT TURNS. *YH
