MY 2000 DODGE DURANGO ALL OF A SUDDEN JUST STALLS ON ME WHILE DRIVING. MY CHILDREN HAVE BEEN IN THE CAR WHEN HAPPENING SCARES ME BC OF TRAFFIC HITTING ME. I'VE CHANGED ALL SENSORS FUEL PUMP SPARK PLUGS AND SPARK PLUG WIRING RADIATOR FAN CLEANED CADILLAC CONVERTER CHECKED ALL RELAYS ALL GOOD WIRING IS ALL GOOD BUT STILL HAVING ISSUES A NO BUS CODE POPS UP WHEN DIES AND HAVE HAD THE TRUCK ITS DIED SEVERAL TIMES AT INTERSECTION HIGHWAYS WORK EVERYWHERE ITS VERY DANGEROUS AND I'VE CHECKED AND LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUES. THESE VEHICLES NEED TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED ESPECIALLY LIKE A CHILD I'VE GIVEN UP ON DRIVING MY TRUCK BECAUSE I'M NOT PUTTING MY CHILDREN IN ANYMORE DANGER. AND I'VE SEEN PEOPLE ON HERE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE. *TR

THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE COOLANT CAUSED THE VEHICLE STALL AND EXHIBIT A ROUGH IDLE. THE DEALER DID NOT ADVISED TO WHAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A LOUD HUMMING NOISE IN THE REAR END COMING FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AT AROUND 30 MPH, AND GETS LOUD WHILE INCREASING SPEED. DEALERSHIP WANTS $1200 JUST TO INSTALL A NEW ONE, PRICE DOES NOT REFLECT THE $2500 REAR DIFFERENTIAL. WIDESPREAD PROBLEM, AND NO ACTION I BEING TAKEN. OBVIOUSLY A FLAW ON THERE END, THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN BEAT AND IN PRISTINE CONDITION. CALLED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, ONLY FOR THEM TO TELL ME THE WARRANTY EXPIRED 10 YEARS AGO, OBVIOUSLY BUT EVERYONE'S WARRANTY EXPIRED AND ARE HELPLESS BECAUSE OF A PROBLEM AROSE BY THEM. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FOUR DIFFERENT INDEPENDENT MECHANICS FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANICS REPLACED THE SPEED SENSOR, BATTERY, FUEL PUMP, SPARK PLUGS AND THE COILS BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. ENGINE SHUT DOWN TO 400 (FOUR HUNDRED) RPMS. PULLED TO SIDE OF HIGHWAY LUCKILY AND ENGINE SHUT OFF. WOULD NOT START. I HAVE OWNED THIS TRUCK FOR 12 YEARS. SOMETHING STARTED SMOKING AND POSSIBILITY OF FIRE WAS A MAJOR CONCERN. *TR
THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE MY WIFE AND CHILDREN ARE IN THE CAR ALSO. MY DURANGO SHUTS OFF WITH OUT WARNING. THERE IS NO ENGINE LIGHT ON, IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN THE MOST WHEN GOING INTO REVERSE AND WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A TURN OR FOR A LIGHT. MY WIFE REFUSES TO DRIVE THE CAR ANYMORE BECAUSE SHE FEARS FOR HER AND OUR CHILDREN'S SAFETY. I HAVE LOOKED ALL OVER THE INTERNET FOR THE SOLUTION AND NO BODY HAS ONE. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND IF IT CAN'T BE, A RECALL ON THE TRUCK SHOULD BE PUT OUT, MOPAR SHOULD HAVE TO BUY BACK ALL CARS WITH THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. *TR

A SECOND PASSENGER SUSTAINED BURNS FROM THE SEAT BELT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 153,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE GOING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH CRASHED INTO THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEFT HAND, HIP, AND RIB. THE CONTACT AND HER CHILD WHO WAS IN THE REAR MIDDLE SEAT WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE. THE CONTACT'S CHILD SUSTAINED BRUISES TO THE SHOULDER FROM THE CHILD SEAT STRAPS. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN AWAY FROM THE SCENE AND WAS NOT TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP. PRIOR TO THE CRASH WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH ,THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE BRAKES WOULD NOT RESPOND AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SLID AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,164.

WHILE DRIVING NB ON SOUTHWEST HIGHWAY IN PALOS THE LIGHT CHANGED TO YELLOW, THEN RED, I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE WAS SLOWING DOWN AS NORMAL. SUDDENLY THE BRAKE PEDAL HIT THE FLOOR AS IF THE HYDRAULICS FLUID HAD BEEN LET OUT OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT WENT ON AND I COULD HEAR THE ANTI LOCK SYSTEM MAKING NOISE. I PUMPED THE BRAKES QUICKLY AND CAR STOPPED IN JUST ENOUGH TIME TO PREVENT AN ACCIDENT. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND OPENED THE HOOD TO INSPECT THE FLUID LEVELS, THEY WERE PERFECT, NO LEAKS EITHER. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT WENT OUT, THE BRAKES DO NOT APPEAR TO BE WORKING CORRECTLY HOWEVER, I WILL HAVE A MECHANIC CHECK THEM OUT ON FRIDAY. *TR
2000 DODGE DURANGO. CONSUMER STATES PRESSURE LOSS AND ENGINE FAILURE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAS POOR VENTILATION THROUGH ITS AIR CHAMBER CAUSING ENGINE OIL SLUDGE. THE OIL PRESSURE CIRCUIT IS ON THE SAME CIRCUIT AS THE IGNITION SWITCH WHICH MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO DIAGNOSE THE REAL PROBLEM. *JB
DURING THE ACCIDENT MY TRUCK WAS HIT HEAD-ON BY A VAN AND THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAD HEAD INJURY (HEADACHES, MEMORY LAPSES, CONFUSION, BLURY EYES, BACK/LEGS PAINS TILL THIS VERY DAY. CHRYSLER WAS INFORMED SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WITH THE TRUCK BEFORE THE ACCIDENT AND THEY REFUSED TO RESOLVE IT AND AFTER THE ACCIDENT, THEY STILL REFUSED TO RESOLVE IT.

THE CONTACT ALSO TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND THE MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 202,000.
WHILE BACKING MY DODGE DURANGO ONTO BOAT RAMP TO TAKE A JETSKI OUT OF THE WATER, I LOST ALL BRAKES AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP FROM GOING IN THE WATER. AFTER INSPECTING THE BRAKE LINES I NOTICED THEY RUSTED ALL THE WAY THRU AND CAUSED ALL FLUID TO LEAK OUT RESULTING IN COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKES. A REPAIR STATION ESTIMATED 1500 TO 2000 TO REPLACE BRAKE LINES, AND SAID IT IS COMMON ON DURANGOS AND DAKOTAS DUE TO BAD METAL LINES FROM FACTORY. THEY ALSO SAID BRAKE LINES SHOULD NOT RUST OUT LIKE THIS AND IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD RESULT IN FATALITIES WITH ALL THE AFFECTED MODELS STILL ON THE ROAD. *TR
I HAVE A 2000 DURANGO 5.9 THAT WILL SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. NO CODES ARE STORED, AND THE DASH READS "NO BUS". IT HAS DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS AND WILL ALWAYS RESTART AFTER A FEW MINUTES. THIS LAST TIME IT WOULDN'T RESTART AND WE HAD IT TOWED HOME AND IT STARTED UP AFTER THAT JUST FINE. I HAVE REPLACED MOST OF THE IGNITION SYSTEM AND PULLED THE FUEL PUMP TO NO AVAIL. IT IS MY WIFE'S CAR AND SHE AND I BOTH CAN'T TRUST IT ANY MORE WITH THE SAFETY OF MY WIFE AND CHILDREN. THERE ARE MULTIPLE POSTS AND COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT NO SINGLE "FIX", AND NOTHING OFFICIAL FROM DODGE ADDRESSING THIS VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
YOU CAN BE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND ALL OF A SUDDEN EVERYTHING SHUTS DOWN AND DASH LITES UP NO BUS. YOU LOSE POWER STEERING AND ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. LOOK ON INTERNET DURANGO NO BUS AND HUNDREDS OF POSTS COME UP WITH PEOPLE WITH SAME PROBLEM. CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND BECAUSE MY EMPLOYMENT SITUATION I DO NOT HAVE 1000'S OF DOLLARS TO REPLACE COMPUTERS AND PCM'S. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND THEY SHOULD BE RECALLED. THERE IS A FLAW! IT CAN HAPPEN GOING 65MPH OR 35 MPH. IT HAS HAPPENED TO US AT LEAST 10 TIMES IN A 2 WEEK PERIOD. IT IS NOW PARKED IN GARAGE BECAUSE OF THE DANGER. IT COULD KILL PEOPLE. *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY CIRCULAR DRIVEWAY STEERING LEFT AND THE WHEEL BASE WOULDN'T TURN. SO I BACKED UP AND CONTINUE TO GO AROUND THE CURVE, ONCE I REACHED ABOUT 200 FT OFF MY DRIVEWAY, MY CAR COME TO A COMPLETE STOP ON IT'S OWN. I BACKED INTO MY DRIVEWAY DRAGGING MY PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WHEEL SIDEWAYS. ONCE I GOT OUT TO CHECK WHAT WAS GOING ON, MY TIE ROD END HAD BECOME COMPLETELY STRIPPED OFF THE RACK AND PINION. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTIONS, SOMEHOW THE GROVES ON THE RACK AND PINION HAD WORE DOWN SO MUCH IT ALLOWED THE TIE ROD TO STRIP AND RELEASE. I WAS SO GLAD I HADN'T BEEN DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN ON THE HIGHWAY, THIS WOULD HAVE CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO FLIP AND PROBABLY KILL US. WELL, IT SEEMS THE ENGINE OIL HAD NOT BEEN TRAVELING THROUGH THE MOTOR AND APPARENTLY DAMAGED INTERNAL PARTS TO THE TUNE OF $2700.00, WHEN I LOOKED IT UP ONLINE, I LEARNED THIS HAS HAPPENED TO NEARLY EVERY 4.7 V8 THAT CHRYSLER MAKES, MY COMPUTER LIT UP WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS, EVERYWHERE. WHY IS IT THAT CHRYSLER IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR A MOTOR DEFECT THAT THE CONSUMER HAS NO CONTROL OVER? ALL MAINTENANCE HAD BEEN DONE ON THIS ONE, AND HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF METICULOUSLY. RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2000 DODGE DURANGO SLT 4X4. CAR DROVE FINE FOR FIRST 2 DAYS. DAY 3: STARTED MY CAR, IT DIED HALF WAY DOWN MY DRIVE WAY, COULD NOT GET IT STARTED AGAIN. PUSHED IT BACK AND LET IT COOL DOWN. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ON, TEMPERATURE IS NORMAL. STARTED IT AFTER 20MINUTES AND IT STARTED UP. LET IT IDLE FOR A COUPLE MINUTES, AND STARTED DRIVING AGAIN. AS SOON AS MY FOOT LEFT THE GAS, IT DIED AGAIN. I HAVE NOT REPLACED ANYTHING YET, AS I HAVE BEEN DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE PROBLEM. I WAS SHOCKED TO FIND OUT WHAT I HAVE. ON ONE WEBSITE ALONE THERE ARE OVER 100 CASES OF THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, NUMEROUS SUPPOSED FIXES, AND NONE WORKING. THIS IS A VERY VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM, AND IT SEEMS TO BE DUE TO THE PLACEMENT OF THE PCM SENSOR AND IT OVERHEATING. THIS ISSUE HAS PLACED SEVERAL DRIVERS IN DANGER, WITH THE CAR DYING IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS AT RANDOM TIMES, AND LOSING POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. I OWN A 2000 DODGE DURANGO SLT 4WD. THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHEN THE OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE EXCEEDS 75 DEGREES. I HAVE TRACED THE ISSUE TO THE PCM OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH BECOMES SO HOT THAT YOU CANNOT TOUCH ITS METAL HOUSING WITH YOUR HANDS. THE PCM IS LOCATED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, BOLTED ABOVE THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE. THE PCM HAS THREE WIRE HARNESSES ATTACHED TO IT, AND ONCE THE PCM HEATS UP, A "KILL" SWITCH IS TRIGGERED AND THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF. SHORTLY AFTER, THE ODOMETER READS "NO BUS" AND THE ONLY WAY TO RESET THE PCM IS TO LEAVE THE IGNITION KEY IN THE "ON" POSITION, PULL THE PCM WIRE HARNESS THAT IS CLOSEST TO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT, RE-SEAT THE HARNESS AND HOPE THAT YOU HEAR A "CLICKING" SOUND. THE VEHICLE NORMALLY RE-STARTS, BUT WILL AGAIN TURN OFF AT INTERMITTENT TIMES. ON A TYPICAL DAY OF 80*, I WILL PERFORM THIS PROCESS SEVERAL TIMES IN MY 22-MILE ROUND-TRIP TO WORK.
