HELLO I HAVE A 2004 DODGE DURANGO HEMI 5.7 AND IT STALLS WHILE DRIVING AND SOMETIMES AT STOP LIGHTS,IT STALLED TODAY WHILE DRIVING ALMOST CAUSING ME TO CRASH. IT HAS DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES.. *TR
ON SATURDAY 2/28/09 I NOTICED MY CARS THERMOSTAT ELEVATED TO H=HIGH. I CALLED THE DEALER THEY ADVISED ME TO BRING I IN. THEY HELD THE CARD FOR 4 DAYS ,BUT CALLED ON THE 3RD DAY TO TELL ME THE DIAGNOSTICS STATED I NEED TO CHANGE THE FAN CLUTCH ALTHOUGH IT'S WORKING FINE, HE ALSO STATED WHILE HE'S IN THEIR HE MIGHT AS WELL CHANGE THE THERMOSTAT AND A BELT NEAR THE FAN.. HOWEVER WHEN QUESTIONED IF THIS WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM HIS RESPONSE WAS I CANNOT GUARANTEE ANYTHING. TODAY I'M HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND HIS REPLY IS OH -WELL WE NEED TO LOOK FOR SOMETHING ELSE AND BY THE WAY YOU CAR IS 5 YEARS OLD AND THINGS HAPPEN..MY CAR IS 5 YEARS OLD WITH 43K MILES. MY CONCERN IS IN REGARDS TO THE RECENT RECALL ON SOME 2004 DODGE DURANGO HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL PANEL CATCHING FIRE. I WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT MOORE SPECIFICS REGARDING THE REASON FOR SUCH A PROBLEM . I'M TRYING TO TROUBLE SHOOT MY PROBLEM TO SEE IF I'M WITHIN THE SCOOP OF THE RECALL. *TR
THE PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT A MONTH AGO, I HAD EXPERIENCED MY CAR OVERHEATING IN THE WINTER WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE TEENS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE (DODGE DURANGO) TO MY LOCAL DEALER, HE STATED HE WILL RUN A DIAGNOSTICS REPORT, 3 DAYS LATER HE CALLED ME TO SAY THE VEHICLE IF FINE, HOWEVER HE NOTICED THE FAN RAN SLOW THEREFORE HE DECIDED TO REPLACE THE FAN CLUTCH AND A BELT ALSO REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT, I PAID HIM 600.00 DOLLARS AND WITHIN 3 DAYS IT'S OVERHEATED AGAIN AND I HAD TO RETURN THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. HE STATED HE WILL LOOK AT IT AND HE CANNOT MAKE ANY PROMISES. I DECLINED TO LET THEM SERVICE THE CAR. I HAVE NOW PLACED IT IN THE HANDS OF MY MECHANIC, AFTER SEVERAL DAYS TRYING TO TROUBLE SHOOT THIS PROBLEM HE REPLACED THE WATER PUMP, THIS WOULD NOT RELIEVE THE PROBLEM, AFTER MANY HOUR ON THE INTERNET I CAME ACROSS A REVIEW THAT SUGGESTED THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE RADIATOR. WE DECIDED TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR; THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THE RADIATOR WAS NOT ABLE TO SUPPORT THE ENGINE CAPACITY, WHICH CAUSED IT TO OVERHEAT. *TR
DODGE DURANGO 2004 LOST ALL FUNCTION PULLING INTO PARKING LOT. LOST ENGINE, BRAKES, STEERING, ELECTRICAL. LIKEN IT TO A POWER PLUG BEING PULLED OUT AND INSTANTANEOUS LOSS OF ALL CONTROL. WAS ABLE TO RESTART WITHOUT MISHAP. TOOK IT TO NEAREST DODGE DEALERSHIP ONLY TO NO AVAIL. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. TOOK THE CAR HOME ONLY TO HAVE IT HAPPEN THE VERY NEXT MORNING AGAIN DURING DECELERATION TO A STREET LIGHT. TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DODGE DEALERSHIP. FOUND NOTHING WRONG.BUT CHANGED THE BATTERY IN THE EVENT LOW VOLTAGE WAS THE ISSUE. POWER CUT OUT AGAIN DURING A DECELERATION AND TURNING A SLIGHT RIGHT AT A FORK IN THE ROAD. THIS TIME WITH ENTIRE FAMILY ONBOARD. LOSS OF STEERING, AND BRAKES. BUT INSTRUMENT PANEL STAYED LIT. AND ALL HEAT RADIO. WILL NOT TRY DRIVING AGAIN UNTIL SOLVED. NOTE: NOTHING WAS DONE TO THE CAR BEFORE INCIDENTS STARTED TO OCCUR. NO OIL CHANGE, CAR WASH, POTHOLE, BREAK-IN. NOTHING. LOST ALL FAITH IN "CERTIFIED" DODGE MECHANICS AS THEY CAN'T EVEN LOOK UP THE ISSUE AND CONFIRM SIMILAR OCCURRENCE. I'VE FOUND SEVERAL VIA LIMITED INTERNET SEARCH. NO SOLUTIONS HOWEVER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 8 MPH IT STALLED AND SHUT OFF. THE ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAYED A MUFFLER SIGN AND THE LIGHTS SHUT OFF; HOWEVER, THE DEALER STATED THAT IT WAS NOT RELATED TO RECALL 07V092000, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS REPLACED ON THREE OCCASIONS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REPLACEMENTS WERE CONSIDERED AS GOOD WILL REPAIRS. THE DEALER ALSO ADVISED THEM TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER IN THE STATE. THE MANUFACTURER AND THE STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED; HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER HAS NO RECORD OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE IA 86,384. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AND STATED THERE WERE OTHER COMPONENTS THAT CAUSED THE FAILURE INCLUDING THE BATTERY. THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO LOCKED AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. IN JAN 09 ANOTHER DEALER STATED THE FAILURE WAS NOT RELATED TO THE INSTRUMENT PANEL; HOWEVER, THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE INDICATED THAT IT WAS. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE OVERHEATS AT TIMES. IT MAY OCCUR AT ANYTIME WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS IN IDLE OR WHILE DRIVING. ALSO, IF THE DOORS ARE OPENED FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START. IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START, A JUMPER CABLE MUST BE USED. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED RECALL 07V092000 DID NOT APPLY TO HER VEHICLE. HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHY OR WHAT ACTUALLY CAUSES THIS FAILURE, BUT THE GEAR SHIFT WILL ALL OF A SUDDEN AND UNEXPECTEDLY LOCK UP WHEN TAKING THE RUNNING VEHICLE OUT OF PARK . THIS HAS OCCURRED A VARIOUS TIMES THROUGH OUT THE PAST YEAR, NOT SHOWING ANY REAL REASON OR CONSISTENCY WITH WEATHER, OR OTHER ELEMENTS PLAYING AS A FACTOR FOR THIS TO OCCUR. ONE WOULD GO TO PULL THE GEAR SHIFT DOWN AND IT JUST WAS AS IF IT WAS JAMMED OR LOCKED, DURING THESE PAST TIMES OF OCCURRING TRIED TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON, OR JUST RELEASING THE BRAKE AND PRESSING BACK IT (SOMETIMES SEVERAL TIMES) AND IT WOULD ALL OF SUDDEN MOVE AND ALLOW IT TO GO INTO GEAR, UNTIL THE OTHER DAY THIS HAPPENED AND UPON ENTERING THE RUNNING VEHICLE AND GOING TO PLACE IT INTO GEAR THE GEAR SHIFTING CABLE BROKE. THE VEHICLE IS BEING TAKEN TO THE GARAGE TO HAVE THE CABLE REPLACED. *TR
RECENTLY OUR DURANGO BEGAN MAKING A LOUD TICKING NOISE AT INITIAL START UP OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH WOULD DECREASE AND ULTIMATELY GO AWAY AS THE CAR WARMED UP. I TOOK MY CAR TO MY LOCAL SERVICE SHOP (NOT DODGE) TO HAVE OTHER WORK PERFORMED AND ASKED THEM TO TRY AND DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THE SAID THAT THE BACK TWO BOLTS CONNECT THE MANIFOLD TO THE BLOCK OF THE ENGINE AND THE HEADS OF THE BOLTS THAT SECURE THE HEAT SHIELD WERE BROKEN. THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO CONTACT THE DEALER BECAUSE IT LOOKED AS IF THE HEADS OF THE BOLTS AND THE BOLTS THEMSELVES HAD JUST BROKEN OFF, PROBABLY DUE TO HEAT FROM THE ENGINE. MY VEHICLE HAS 68,000 MILES SO I CALLED TO SEE IF IT WAS COVERED UNDER THE 70,000 MILE WARRANTY. WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE CAR, THEY TOLD ME THAT SOMEONE HAD TO HAVE BROKEN THE BOLTS OFF, BECAUSE THAT JUST WOULDN'T OCCUR. I TOLD THEM THAT THE ENGINE HAD NEVER BEEN WORKED ON OTHER THAT ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT BECAUSE I HAVE NOT USED THEM FOR OTHER SERVICE, SO THEY DID NOT KNOW IF THE BOLTS HAD BEEN BROKEN OFF BY SOMEONE ELSE. I PAID FOR THE REPAIRS AND THEY STARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE SAME TWO BOLTS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND IS CAUSING THE SAME NOISE. WHEN QUESTIONED ABOUT THIS, THEY STUCK TO THEIR INITIAL RESPONSE THAT SOMEONE IN THE PAST HAS BROKEN THE BOLTS, EVEN THOUGH I STRESSED AGAIN THAT NO OTHER WORK HAD BEEN DONE ON THE ENGINE OR EXHAUST. WHEN ASKED TO HAVE THE OWNER OF THE DEALERSHIP GIVE ME A CALL CONCERNING THE ISSUE, THE CALL WAS NEVER RETURNED. SO, I GUESS I AM GOING TO HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THE REPAIRS MADE TO THE PASSENGER SIDE AS WELL, EVEN THOUGH IT SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE BOLTS THAT WERE USED TO SECURE THE MANIFOLD AND THE HEAT SHIELD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT TOOK HIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR ROUTINE INSPECTION AND VARIOUS WARNING INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. A TECHNICIAN STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V092000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT PANEL) WAS OUTSTANDING ON HIS VIN. THE TECHNICIAN FURTHER STATED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE CLUSTER AT THE COST OF $700 BECAUSE THE REMEDY WAS TO REPAIR THE DOME LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 69,940.
MY 2004 DODGE DURANGO IS HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES. MOST OF MY LIGHTS ON MY INSTRUMENT PANEL STAY ON AT ALL TIMES, MY SPEEDOMETER OR ODOMETER WILL NOT WORK AND MY HEATING AND A/C WILL NOT WORK. MY REAR DEFROST AND REAR WIPER WILL ALSO NOT WORK. DEALERSHIP REFLASHED MY COMPUTER AND UPDATED COMPUTER BUT HAD NO AFFECT AT ALL. EVERYTHING ON THE EXTERIOR WORKS GREAT AND RUNS GREAT. *TR
COMPONENT: UNKNOWN OR OTHER DETAILS: 2004 DURANGO WITHIN THE PAST 12 MONTHS HAS STALLED 3 TIMES WHILE DRIVING AND WAS ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY START BACK UP. ALSO, THE RADIO FROM TIME TO TIME WILL NOT WORK, SAME ISSUE WITH THE KEYLESS ENTRY. I'VE TAKEN THE CAR TO DEALERSHIPS AND NO ONE CAN PINPOINT A PROBLEM. THE ENGINE LIGHT ALSO BEEN ON AND OFF FOR A YEAR. THE DEALERSHIP "FLASHES" IT'S COMPUTER TO RESET THE LIGHT. *TR
2004 DODGE DURANGO INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD NOT GO OFF. NEXT MORNING WENT TO START THE TRUCK SMOKE AND THEN FLAMES ENGULFED THE TRUCKS HAD TO CALL 911 TO HAVE FIRE PUT OUT. I WAS TOLD BY LOCAL DEALER AFTER RECALL CAME OUT NOT TO WORRY ABOUT THE RECALL THAT IT WAS A PAIN TO CHANGE THE PART OUT AND THAT THEY NEVER SAW ANY PROBLEMS WITH ANY OF THE ONES THEY HAD CHANGED BEFORE. *TR
DURING MEDIUM/HEAVY RAIN THE ENGINE STALLS BADLY OR COMPLETELY DIES. ALSO HAPPENS DURING CAR WASHES, THOUGH NOT A SAFETY ISSUE THEN- JUST AGGRAVATING! :( RESTARTS ONLY AFTER RAIN SUBSIDES. THIS CREATES A VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITION- FOR MYSELF AND THOSE VEHICLES AROUND ME. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE. DESPITE COUNTLESS COMPLAINTS, IT APPEARS DODGE HAS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE OR ADDRESS IT FOR SEVERAL YEARS, ALIENATING MANY PREVIOUSLY LOYAL CUSTOMERS (THIS WAS A VERY POPULAR SUV). THE FACTORY WARANTY WAS EXPIRED/NEAR TO EXPIRE WHEN MOST OF US BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE THIS SO WE HAD LITTLE RECOURSE. AS MY VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AND HAS LOW MILES FOR ITS AGE, I PLAN TO KEEP IT FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE- CIRCUMSTANCES PERMITTING... THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME POST MY CONCERN HERE! HEATER BLOWS GOOD, THEN STOPS BLOWING, THEN WILL START AGAIN. THE AIR CONDITIONING ALSO DOES THIS. HEATER AND AIR IN BACK WORKS FINE. IF YOU SHUT CAR OFF AND RESTART WILL WORK. IT IS WINTER NOW AND I CAN'T SEE TO DRIVE. *TR
OUR 2004 DODGE DURANGO SEEMS TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ITS CTM UNIT. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF PROPERLY. I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS INSTANCES OF THIS SAME PROBLEM IN MY SEARCHING THE INTERNET. THIS UNIT SHOULD BE RECALLED BY DODGE SINCE THE PREVIOUS MODEL YEAR HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE SAME CTM COMPONENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS INSTALLING THE CHILD SEAT IN THE VEHICLE, THE SEAT BELT LATCH PLATE CRACKED. THE CHILD SEAT COULD NOT BE INSTALLED. SHE STATED THAT THIS WAS THE THIRD SEAT BELT TO FAIL IN THE SAME MANNER. THE FIRST REPAIR WAS MADE UNDER WARRANTY. THE SECOND REPAIR WAS PAID FOR BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE PART FOR THE REPAIR WAS ORDERED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT WOULD BE REPAIRED FOR FREE BECAUSE IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. NIGHTTIME. POURING RAIN. TURNED A CORNER IN A PARKING LOT AND THE POWER STEERING JUST QUIT. TURNED CAR OFF AND RESTARTED. POWER STEERING WAS BACK. FIRST AND ONLY TIME IT HAPPENED SO FAR. *TR
IN JUNE I HAD AN INCIDENT WHERE MY ENGINE STALLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET AND AT THAT SAME TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD BEEN COMING ON AND OFF. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER, BUT OF COURSE THE LIGHT WAS NOT ON. THEY HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER AND FOUND NO PROBLEMS. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT AND THE LIGHT HAS COME ON AND OFF OVER THESE FEW MONTHS. WHILE DRIVING I HAVE NOTICED OVER THE PAST MONTH OR TWO THAT ON OCCASION, WHEN I AM DRIVING ANYWHERE BELOW 50 MPH, THE RPM NEEDLE WOULD DROP. SOMETIMES IT WAS A SMALL DROP BUT YOU COULD STILL FEEL THE LOSS OF SPEED. AT OTHER TIMES IT WAS A SIGNIFICANT DROP AND YOU WOULD FEEL THE CAR JERK AS IT RESOLVED ITSELF. ON 3 OCCASIONS THE ENGINE DID STALL COMPLETELY LIKE IN JUNE. LAST NIGHT IT BECOME MORE PROBLEMATIC. IT CONT TO DO THE ABOVE BUT VERY FREQUENTLY AND NOW IF I STOP AT A LIGHT OR TO MAKE A TURN, WHEN I PUSH THE PEDDLE THE CAR GOES VERY SLOWLY AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO NOT STALL IS TO GIVE IT MORE GAS AND THIS MAKES THE CAR SPRINT FORWARD. I HAD TO TURN INTO TRAFFIC AND ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IN MY OPINION AND IT LOOKS LIKE MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES. I AGREE WITH SOME OF THE OTHERS THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. *TR
DODGE 2004 DURANGO STALLED WHILE TAKING A RIGHT TURN ONTO SIDE STREET. UNABLE TO FINISH TURN OR GOT OFF THE ROAD. I WAS PANICKED, FOUND FLASHERS TO TURN ON, THEN INSTRUCTED TO BY HELPFUL PASSERBY TO TURN KEY OFF, AND RESTART CAR. THIS WORKED, HASN'T HAPPENED AGAIN. I TAKE THIS VERY SERIOUS, MY YOUNG, NEW DRIVERS, CHILDREN ARE ABLE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AND WOULDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO IF THIS HAPPENED TO THEM. I WANT THIS TAKEN CARE OF AT DODGES EXPENSE. DODGE DURANGO SUV , MODEL SLT 4WD 4.7 8 CYLINDER ENGINE NEEDS A NEW CLOCK SPRING TO MEET MASSACHUSETTS INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS AFTER VEHICLE ACCIDENT. AUTO BODY SHOP LOCATED IN ANDOVER MA (WOODSWORTH MOTORS). CANNOT FIND REPLACEMENT FOR CLOCK SPRING AFTER ALMOST 3 WEEKS OF EFFORT. PLEASE ADVISE ASAP FOR POTENTIAL SOURCE, NEW OR USED. I PURCHASED A 04 DODGE DURANGO 1-1/2 MONTHS AGO. I WAS ONLY GIVEN 1 KEY. THEY KEYLESS ENTRY AND KEY ARE ONE. THE KEYLESS ENTRY DOES NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK THE VEHICLE. THE PRONG THAT HOLDS THE BATTERY DOWN BREAKS OFF EASILY. IF YOU TRY TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THE VEHICLE IT SETS OFF THE ALARM.I AM UNABLE TO LOCK MY VEHICLE UNLESS I SET THE ALARM OFF. I HAVE CHANGED THE BATTERY, STILL DOESN'T HELP. I LOOKED UP ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THIS HAPPENS WITH THIS VEHICLE OFTEN BECAUSE IT IS POORLY MADE. I WAS TOLD I HAD TO PAY $200 TO REPLACE THE KEY AND IT WILL MOST LIKELY HAPPEN AGAIN. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS ITEM AS IT HAPPENS OFTEN AND I AM UNABLE TO LOCK MY VEHICLE WHICH MAKES IT MORE LIKELY FOR MY VEHICLE TO BE BROKEN INTO. THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THIS ITEM, HOWEVER I READ ON OTHER CASES THAT EVENTUALLY THIS ISSUE LEADS TO THE SECURITY SYSTEM LOCKING DOWN AND THE VEHICLE NOT WORKING. SHE MANAGED TO USE THE CAR MOMENTUM TO DIRECT THE CAR INTO A SIDE ROAD, WITHOUT HITTING ANY OTHER CARS. SHE WAS 30 SECS. FROM THE FREEWAY ENTRANCE). SHE MANAGED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR ( ALL OTHER DOORS TO THE CAR WERE LOCKED EXCEPT THE DRIVER DOOR - WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU ARE IN THE BACK SEAT ?)) AND NOTICED BLUE SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. SHE TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE BUT WITHOUT SUCCESS. SHE CALLED AAA AND WAS EVENTUALLY TOWED TO STATELINE DODGE IN FORT MILL. THE BATTERY AND CONNECTIONS WERE SO HOT THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER COULD NOT TOUCH THEM..AND STILL SMOKING. THE GARAGE EXAMINED THE BATTERY CABLES AND VERIFIED THEY WERE MELTED TOGETHER(SEE INVOICE). WE WOULD NEED A NEW BATTERY AND CABLE. I CALLED THE GARAGE TO INFORM THEM THAT A NHTSA SAFETY RECALL D40 WAS ISSUED IN 2004, CONCERNING RE-ROUTING THE BATTERY CABLE AS IT COULD LEAD TO AN UNDERHOOD FIRE. I WAS EXPECTING NOT TO BE CHARGED WITH THE BATTERY AND REPLACEMENT CABLE. HOWEVER THE RECALL NOTICE TALKS ABOUT CABLE CONTACT WITH THE UPPER CONTROL ARM OF THE SUSPENSION AND IN MY CASE THE CONTACT WAS WITH THE EXHAUST GAS RECYCLE TUBE, WHICH IS 1" AWAY FROM THE CONTROL ARM. I WAS CHARGED $460 FOR THE WORK AND AM NOW WRITING TO CHRYSLER FOR RECOMPENSE. THIS IS A POTENTIAL SERIOUS ISSUE FOR DURANGO OWNERS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE ON A FREEWAY AND THE ENGINE CUTS OUT OR YOUR CAR IS PARKED IN YOUR GARAGE AT NIGHT AND THE BATTERY IS RED HOT. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON 09/19/08 COMING DOWN A HILL, I PRESSED MY BRAKES TO STOP AND THE TRUCK KEPT ROLLING. I PUMPED AND PUMPED UNTIL I CAME TO A STOP. I HAD SOMEONE LOOK AT IT BEFORE I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND MY STEERING COLUMN BOX WAS RUBBING AGAINST MY BRAKE HOSE AND PUT A HOLE IN IT. IT HAS STALLED WHILE STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN, UPON ACCELERATING INTO A TURN, AND MANY OTHERS. AFTER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, WE REPLACED 2 O2 SENSORS AND THE STALLING STILL OCCURS. AFTER A THIRD DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, WE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND THE STALLING STILL OCCURS. NOW THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING INDICATED WE NEED TO REPLACE THE EGR FLOW SENSOR. I CURRENTLY HAVE 74,836 MILES. I HAVE SPENT APPROX $1000 IN PARTS ALONE TO REPAIR THESE ITEMS AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL NOT FIXED. *TR

I HAVE A 2004 DODGE DURANGO WITH 73,600 MILES. FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS IT'S BEEN ACTING UP. THE SECOND I SLOW TO A STOP OR PUT IT IN PARK, THE RPMS START JUMPING AROUND. PRIOR TO THE UPGRADE INTERIOR LIGHTS DIMMED BEFORE SHUTTING OFF, THEY NO LONGER DO, AFTER THE UPGRADE, THE DRIVER MEMORY SYSTEM THAT REMEMBERED SEAT AND MIRROR POSITIONS, HEAT/AC SETTINGS AND RADIO SETTINGS NOW FUNCTIONS DIFFERENTLY .. ALSO, NOT SURE IF THIS IS RELATED BUT THE DRIVERS DOOR, WHEN CLOSED WOULD NOT TURN THE INTERIOR LIGHTS OFF. THE FRUSTRATION IS THAT THERE IS NO LONGER A MECHANICAL SWITCH TO ACCOMPLISH THIS SO IT APPEARS THAT THIS PROCESS IS SOFTWARE CONTROLLED.
