TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE LOW OIL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED INTO THE NEAREST SERVICE STATION TO CHECK THE OIL. SHE ADDED ONE QUART OF OIL AS INDICATED BY THE OIL DIP STICK. SHE RESUMED DRIVING AND AFTER APPROXIMATELY FIVE MILES, THE ENGINE BEGAN KNOCKING. SHE PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO NORTH CAROLINA. ONCE IN NORTH CAROLINA, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT A NEW ENGINE WAS NEEDED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 148,000.
I KEPT HEARING A TICKING AND THERE WERE ISSUES AS FOR TRANSMISSION. I TOOK IT BACK THE 1ST DAY I BOUGHT IT AND SPOKE TO THE GUY WHO SOLD IT TO ME. THEN THE GUY LEFT TO GO TO ANOTHER COMPANY. SO THEN GOT SOMEONE ELSE AND 3MORE TIMES WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. *TR
THE CAR STALLS OUT IN RAINY CONDITIONS AND COMPLETELY DIES IN CAR WASH. PROBLEM CAN BE REPRODUCED EVERY SINGLE TIME IN WET CONDITIONS.VERY DANGEROUS AT HIGH SPEEDS AND COULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS, IF THE REAR WINDOWS ARE ROLLED DOWN THE CAR BEGINS TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY TO THE POINT WHERE THE DOORS FEEL AS IF THEY ARE GOING TO BE PULLED OFF. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS ABOUT 1 MTH AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, IT TOOK ME BY SURPRISE AND I WAS ALMOST IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF ITS SEVERITY. ENGINE STALLS INFREQUENTLY AT LOW SPEEDS <15MPH AT THE SAME TIME BEFORE THIS HAPPENED RPM JUMPS UP-IF A RECALL IS CLOSED WILL IT REOPEN IF THIS IS AN ALREADY KNOWN PROBLEM. *TR
DRIVING , WHEN CAR STARTED MISSING, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, TOOK TO CHRYSLER DEALER, HAD TO REPLACE IGNITION COIL, SERVICE MANAGER SAYS WATER ENTERED INTO IT AND CAUSED FAILURE, CAR HAS 28,900 MILES ON IT, I THINK IT IS A DEFECT THAT SHOULD OF BEEN REPAIRED AT NO COST, I HAVE OLD PART. *TR
ON SATURDAY 2/16, THE DOME LIGHTS WERE NOT DIMMING AND GOING OUT AND THERE WAS A SLIGHT SMELL OF HOT WIRES. BY SUNDAY THE SMELL WAS VERY INTENSE. WE LEFT HE CAR PARKED AND PLANNED ON GETTING IT TO THE DEALER ON MONDAY. MONDAY MORNING I WENT OUT AND STARTED THE TRUCK TO LET IT WARM UP BEFORE I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. I WENT BACK INSIDE FOR A COUPLE MINUTES. WHILE I WAS INSIDE, A NEIGHBOR RANG THE DOOR BELL AND TOLD ME THAT THE CAR WAS ON FIRE. I CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT THEY CAME AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. WE HAD THE FIRE INSPECTOR COME OUT SO WE COULD HAVE A REPORT ON FILE. BOTH THE FIRE INVESTIGATOR AND THE INSURANCE CLAIMS AGENT FELT THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY THE WIRING UNDER THE DASH. THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS WITH A GAPING HOLE STRAIGHT THROUGH THE DASH, BEHIND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND THE INTERIOR COMPLETELY GONE. *TR
I HAVE BEEN GETTING A CONTINUOUS ALL THE GAUGES ON THE DASH WILL START FLUXUATING LIKE THE COMPUTER IS RESETTING IT SELF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. ALSO THE AIR BAG SYSTEM SHOWS A MALFUNCTION DURING THE SAME TIME THE GAUGES FLUX. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAY THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING UNLESS IT HAPPENS WHILE IT'S HOOKED UP TO THE COMPUTER TO READ IT WHILE IT HAPPENS. THE RECALL FOR THE INSTRUMENT PANEL HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO GO AWAY FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS BUT NOW IT DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. SORT OF GETTING CONCERNED IF THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WILL THE VEHICLE CATCH ON FIRE. *TR

I WAS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT AND WAS SLOWING TO A STOP. AS I SLOWED DOWN TO MAYBE 10 MILES AN HOUR, THE VEHICLE STALLED OR SHUT OFF. I HAD NO POWER STEERING OR ANYTHING. MANAGED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND IT RESTARTED. NEVER DONE IT SINCE, BUT I HAVE RECENTLY LEARNED OF MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2004 DODGE DURANGO. THANKS *TR
SEE FIRST COMPLAINT 10237419. I'M HAVING CONTINUED FRONT END STEERING/SUSPENSION PROBLEMS. HAD THE LOWER BALL JOINT REPLACED ON 09/28/07. BY FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR I'M EXPERIENCING WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEMS... CLUNKING SOUND (METAL TO METAL) THAT STARTS WHEN ENGINE AREA IS HOT. AFTER 45 MINUTES OF DRIVING. VIBRATION CAN BE FELT IN THE STEERING AND FLOOR BOARDS. THE NOISE IS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY LOUDER AND I FEAR THAT SAFETY MAY BECOME A ISSUE. THE DURANGO MAKES A SOUND SOMETHING LIKE THE TIRE AND RIM IS GOING TO VIBRATE RIGHT OFF THE VEHICLE. I'M NOW ON MY THIRD MECHANIC....RICHMOND, CA. HILLTOP DODGE, WHO TEST DROVE MY DURANGO AND HEARD THE SOUND ON 08/12/08. THEY INSPECTED THE FRONT BALL JOINTS, TIE RODS, AND ASSURED THAT EACH AREA WAS TIGHT . THEY DEEMED THAT THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE, BUT WEREN'T SURE OF THE PROBLEM. THEY THINK IT MAY BE LOOSENESS IN THE LOWER STEERING SHAFT. DEALER/MECHANIC SAID THE PROBLEM NEEDED TO BE MORE CONSISTENT TO ISOLATE THE NOISE. INSPECTION CHARGE $124.95. PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN IDENTIFIED OR RESOLVED, BUT SOUNDS SIMILAR TO WHAT HAS BEEN INVESTIGATED FOR POTENTIAL RECALL IN THE PAST. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE INTERIOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AFTER DRIVING FOR ONE MILE. HE NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE LIGHT SWITCH AND INSTRUMENT PANEL. HE EXITED THE VEHICLE BEFORE IT BURST INTO FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE FIRE WAS NOT CAUSED BY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT, BUT APPEARED TO BE FROM AFTERMARKET WIRES. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V092000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT PANEL). THE CONTACT HAS A VIDEO OF THE INCIDENT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 59,900.
AFTER THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE 2004, ON A HILL IN A CURVY TURN, AT THE STOP ON THE HILL THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. DEALER COULD NEVER RECREATE THE SITUATION, NEVER FIXED. NOW THERE IS A FIX OUT THERE. OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS, HAVE NOTICED VEHICLE STALL WHEN IT RAINS, (WET MOISTURE), THE RPM'S GO UP AND WAY DOWN. BEEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, FIRST TIME REPLACE WIRES, PLUGS, NOT IT, NEXT FLASH AND UPGRADE SOFTWARE, NOT FIXED, THEY CANT RE-CREATE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WILL STALL, UNKNOWN WHEN IT WILL STALL, MAY RUN GREAT DAY 1 IN THE AM, NOT RUN IN THE AFTERNOON. MAY RUN OK FIRST 20 MINUTES, THEN WILL DECIDE TO STALL. PRIOR TO THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE VEHICLE WOULD RUN FINE IN DRY WEATHER., NOW WITH THE UPGRADE, VEHICLE DOES NOT START PROPERLY. DEALER CAN NOT SEEM TO FIND A FIX TO THE STALLING ISSUE. *TR

I TOLD HER I WANTED TO SEE IF THIS WAS COVERED UNDER THE 7 YEAR/70,000 MILE WARRANTY ' SHE SAID, I DID NOT HAVE THAT ' I SAID YES I DID THAT'S WHAT MADE US BUY THE VEHICLE. SHE SAID TO CONTACT THE PLACE WHERE WE BOUGHT IT FROM ' IN ROXBOROGH - SHE SAID, WHAT PROBLEM ARE YOU HAVING. I TOLD HER THAT THE PROBLEM STARTED WHEN I GOT THE RECALL FIXED FOR INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. WE HAD WIRING HARNESS TO THE 8 CYCLINDER. THEN THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. BUT I DID NOT NEED ANY OIL ' I GET MY OIL DONE REGULARLY. THREE DAYS LATER THE DODGE STARTED REVVING VERY HIGH LIKE SOMEONE IS PUSHING ON THE PEDAL. THE CAR JERKS AND THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON NOW. SHE PUT ME ON HOLD TO CHECK THE WARRANTY INFORMATION. SPOKE TO LESLIE, SUPERVISOR. SHE TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME ' WHAT YOU DO OUT SIDE OF CHRYSLER IS YOUR PROBLEM. I TOLD HER THERE IS ALL SORTS OF NOTES ON LINE FROM PEOPLE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH ENGINES AND TRANSMISSIONS. SHE SAID, THERE WAS NO RECALLS ON THIS.*CN
MY 2004 DODGE DURANGO HAS 55,000 MILES ON IT. BOTH KEYLESS ENTRY FOBS QUIT WORKING. THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK MY TRUCK IS MANUALLY, VIA TURNING THE KEY IN THE DOOR. EVERY TIME YOU DO THAT, THE ALARM GOES OFF. I RESEARCHED THIS ONLINE, TO FIND OUT THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, EVEN CARS STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. (THOSE UNDER WARRANTY, SAID DODGE WOULDN'T FIX THEM). THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. THERE'S NO REASON DODGE CAN'T HAVE A RECALL AND FIX THIS KEY ISSUE. I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH DODGE "CUSTOMER RELATIONS" AND GOT NOWHERE. NO HELP, NO INFORMATION ON HOW TO FIX IT, AND CERTAINLY NO RECALL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE GEAR SHIFT STICKS WHILE APPROACHING A STOP. THE FAILURE MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED FOUR TIMES WITHIN A SIX MONTH PERIOD. THE FIRST TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THEY STATED THAT THE BRAKING SYSTEM FAILED. A NEW MASTER CYLINDER WAS INSTALLED, WHICH TEMPORARILY REPAIRED THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED SIX WEEKS LATER. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT CURRENTLY HAS AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER TO FURTHER INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE VIN AND RECALL NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,000.

VEHICLE STALLS AT LOW SPEEDS AND WHEN TURNING. IMMEDIATELY RESTARTS. HAD LOCAL DEALER LOOK AT IT, BUT THEY CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. FACTORY CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NO HELP. HAVE READ MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT SAME CONDITION ONLINE. *TR

THE FAILURE WAS IDENTICAL TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V578000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:BATTERY:CABLES) AND SAFETY RECALL NUMBER D40 ISSUED BY DAIMLER CHRYSLER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED THROUGH AN INSURANCE CLAIM. DAIMLER CHRYSLER SENT AN INDEPENDENT CLAIMS ADJUSTER, WHO TOOK A REPORT OF THE INCIDENT. ON DECEMBER 17, 2007, THE MANUFACTURER SENT THE CONTACT A RESPONSE VIA MAIL THAT DENIED CLAIM FOR ANY SORT OF REPAIR REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE RECALL. THE TOTAL ESTIMATED COST IN DAMAGES WAS $1,870 PLUS TOWING. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,800 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,900. UPDATED 01/29/08 *BF
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. WHEN SLOWING DOWN FROM 30 MPH TO MAKE A TURN OR ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE AFTERWARDS, THE VEHICLE STALLS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE COMPUTER ACCELERATION AND IDLE CHIP NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN SEVERAL TIMES TO HAVE THE IDLE AND ACCELERATION CHIP REPROGRAMMED AND THE FAILURE WAS NOT PERMANENTLY CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN AGAIN FOR A NEW DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ISSUED A REFERENCE NUMBER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,161 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000. UPDATED 3/4/08 *CN

IN JUNE OF 2007, THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V092000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT PANEL). AFTER THE REPAIR WAS MADE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS DID NOT WORK, THE DOOR OPEN CHIME WOULD NOT SOUND, AND THE KEY WOULD NOT LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DOORS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,397 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.

THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND, APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES LATER, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V092000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT PANEL) SIX MONTHS AFTER THE FIRE OCCURRED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
2004 DODGE DURANGO WITH 5.7 LITER HEMI ENGINE. HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING ENGINE STALLING WHILE DRIVING ON 4 OCCASIONS. THERE HAVE BEEN TWO OCCASIONS WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AND TURNING AND TWO WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. AFTER THE FIRST 2 OCCURRENCES THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE EVENT AND AS A PRECAUTION REPLACED THE EGR VALVE. AFTER GETTING THE TRUCK BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP THE ENGINE STALLED 2 MORE TIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEED. TRUCK IS BACK IN THE DEALERSHIP AND ONCE AGAIN THE DEALERSHIP CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD SCRATCHING NOISE WHEN SHE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. AS OF NOVEMBER 20, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.

PROBLEM WITH "FRONT SUSPENSION/BALL JOINTS" 2004 DODGE DURANGO: HAD EXCESSIVE FREEPLAY IN LOWER BALL JOINTS. LEFT MORE THAN THE RIGHT. BALL JOINTS WERE REPLACE WITH CHRYSLER/DODGE PARTS ON 9/28/07 AT 60,577 MILES. THE REPAIR COSTS $544.69. AT 65,202 MILES I STATED EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS AGAIN. VIBRATION THAT CAN BE FELT IN THE STEERING AND FLOORBOARD UNDER THE DRIVERS FEET. A METAL ON METAL CLUNKING SOUND STARTS AFTER THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN FOR A 1/2-HOUR (WHEN HOT) AND IS ONLY HEARD WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. HAD TWO SHOPS LOOK AT IT BUT THEY COULDN'T HEAR THE NOISE. NOW AT 65,738 MILES, THE NOISE IS GETTING LOUD AND I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY. WILL THE TIRE COME OFF OR WILL THE ABILITY TO STEER BE GO OUT COMPLETELY AT SOME POINT? *TR
THERE IS A VISUAL BLIND SPOT AT THE FRONT WINDSHIELD ON BOTH SIDES. VERY DANGEROUS!!!! THE MOLDING IS TOO WIDE. I HAVE BEEN VERY LUCKY NOT TO HIT PEOPLE DRIVING OR WALKING. THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED IMMEDIATELY...DODGE HAS A HUGE PROBLEM HERE!! *TR
2004 DURANGO LIMITED STALLED WHILE BRAKING TWICE. STALLED ONCE AT A STOP LIGHT. HAS THE 5.7L HEMI ENGINE WITH 50K MILES. TOOK IT TO DEALER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT GET IT TO STALL AND WE WOULD HAVE TO KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR IT. THEN I FOUND THE TSB ON LINE DETAILING THE ISSUE. AFTER LOADING OUR BOAT AT A RESERVOIR AND PREPPING THE BOAT ON THE TRAILER, I STARTED THE DURANGO TO LEAVE THE LAKE, AND THE ENGINE WAS KNOCKING. A GUY FROM THE MARINA CAME BY AND SAID "IT'S KNOCKING ISN'T IT, THAT IS THE THIRD DODGE THIS SUMMER. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER AND WAITING A WEEK FOR A DIAGNOSIS I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS AN EVACUATION CANISTER MOUNTED ON THE FRAME RAIL ABOUT MID-VEHICLE. IF THE VENT TO THIS CANISTER GETS IN THE WATER IT WILL SUCK WATER INTO THE INTAKE OF THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE HAD HYDRO-LOCKED AND WAS DESTROYED. I WAS TOLD THAT EVEN THOUGH WE ONLY HAD 37,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, CHRYSLER WOULD NOT WARRANTY THIS BECAUSE IT WAS CONSIDERED SUBMERGED.6 WEEKS AND $7000.00 IN REPAIRS AND RENTAL CAR FEES, WE HAVE FINALLY GOTTEN OUR VEHICLE BACK. I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT GETTING IN WATER UP TO THE HUBS OF THE REAR WHEELS, I WOULD BE AT RISK OF THIS HAPPENING AGAIN. I AM NOT SURE THAT IT WAS EVEN IN THAT DEEP WHEN IT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME. I AM GOING TO GET RID OF THIS VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE APPROACHING A STOP AT 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE STEERING FAILED. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE RADIO REMAINED ACTIVATED. THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE IN ORDER FOR IT TO OPERATE NORMALLY. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC AND HAD A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED, BUT NO FAILURES WERE FOUND. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,100 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
LAST YEAR I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR MY 2004 DODGE DURANGO CONCERNING AN ELECTRICAL COMPONENT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BERRYVILLE DODGE IN BERRYVILLE,AR TO HAVE IT FIXED. THEY DID THE RECALL AND WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR THE DRIVER DOOR LOCK WOULD NOT WORK ALONG WITH THE RADIO/CD/DVD/SAT RADIO COMPONENT. I COMPLAINED THEY SAID TO CALL CHRYSLER. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY DENIED RESPONSIBILITY. THEY SAID IT WAS COINCIDENCE! I WENT TO 2 OTHER DODGE DEALERS AND BOTH SAID THE SAME THING HAD HAPPENED AT THEIR DEALERSHIP BUT THEY FIXED THE RADIO AND DOOR LOCKS. THE BERRYVILLE DEALER REFUSED AND CHRYSLER REFUSED TO REPAIR UNLESS I PAID FOR IT.($80 FOR THE LOCK, $600 FOR THE RADIO). IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT? CALLING CHRYSLER IS A WASTE AND THE DEALER WONT DO ANYTHING EITHER. *TR
OUR 2004 DODGE DURANGO WAS IN OUR DRIVEWAY IN PARK, THE ENGINE TURNED OFF, RADIO ON, BOTH FRONT DOORS OPEN AND KEYS STILL IN THE IGNITION. THE TRUCK HAD BEEN SITTING THERE FOR 5 MINUTES OR MORE TILL I GOT MY NEIGHBOR TO HELP ME UNLOAD A GRILL OUT OF THE BACK. MY WIFE HOPPED INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE TO TURN THE RADIO DOWN WHEN THE TRUCK BEGAN TO ROLL FORWARD WHILE IN "PARK". MY WIFE WAS KNOCKED OUT OF THE TRUCK AND WAS HURT BADLY ON HER LEG AND IT RAN INTO MY NEIGHBOR'S CAR THEN ROLLED INTO THE STREET. I RAN AFTER THE TRUCK TO STOP IT FROM GOING ANY FURTHER, I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE THEN LOOKED AT THE SHIFT HANDLE AND IT WAS STILL IN "PARK". *TR
I PURCHASED A 2004 DURANGO IN NOV OF 2006. I HAD NO REAL PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE UNTIL RECENTLY. TOOK VEHICLE IN TO DEALERSHIP FOR RECALL OF INSTRUMENT PANEL. DEALERSHIP TOOK CARE OF THIS AND 2 WEEKS LATER TEMPERATURE GAUGE STARTED READING HOTTER THEN USUAL. CONTACTED DEALERSHIP WHO THEN STATED UNRELATED. RECENTLY WENT ON VACATION AND 300 MILES FROM HOME VEHICLE TEMP GAUGE READ HOT. PULLED OFF INTERSTATE TO NEAREST SERVICE STATION. NO DEALERSHIP NEAR HERE. MECHANIC FOUND NO CODES TO INDICATE PROBLEM. REPLACED WATER PUMP, THERMOSTAT, HOSES, CHECK RADIATOR, NEW FLUIDS, BILL TOTAL 377 DOLLARS. 3 MILES LATER CAR STILL TRYING TO OVER HEAT. TOWED TO VA FOR 1,000 DOLLARS NOW AT DEALERSHIP. CAR ALSO SEEMS TO SOMETIMES NOT BE IN GEAR WHEN PLACED IN DRIVE AND YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE ENGINE JUST REVS. AT DEALERSHIP NOW WE SHALL SEE WHAT THEY SAY. *TR

HE SUFFERED BRUISING AND WHELPS ON HIS STOMACH. EVERY TIME HER SON MOVED, THE SEAT BELT GREW TIGHTER. SHE CONTACTED A DODGE DEALER IN HER AREA, BUT THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN THE FAILURE. THE NUMBER OF CYLINDERS, ENGINE SIZE, AND A VALID VIN WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 60,000.
WE WERE TRAVELING UP AN INCLINE AND REACHED IT'S PEAK AT ABOUT 40MPH. IT WAS AT THIS TIME THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED AND LOST POWER. NO POWER STEERING AND HARDLY ANY BREAKING POWER. WE WERE ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER ONTO A SIDE ROAD. WE PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND IT RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY. VERY DANGEROUS AS I WAS CARRYING MY YOUNG DAUGHTER WITH ME. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE FIRST TIME I SHRUGGED IT OFF BUT THE SECOND TIME WAS SCARY HENCE THIS COMPLAINT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IN THE VEHICLE KEEPS COMING ON FOR NO REASON. I HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES TO BE FIXED , BUT IT ALWAYS COMES BACK ON. MY DODGE DURANGO 2004 HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP (DEALER) FOR OVER A MONTH DUE TO OVER HEATING. OVER THE COURSE OF THIS TIME, THE THERMOSTAT, RELAYS, WATER PUMP, AND FAN CLUTCH WERE CHANGED. THE RADIATOR FLUSHED. THE DEALER NOW BELIEVES ITS THE HEAD. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS GONE ON. WORST YET, THE CAR HAS STALLED ON ME TWICE DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC WHILE TRYING TO TURN AT A LOW SPEED. THIS WORRIES ME SINCE I COULD HAVE GOTTEN IN AN ACCIDENT EACH TIME. I WANT THE CAR OUT OF THE SHOP BUT I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. I NO LONGER FEEL CONFIDENT TO GO ANYWHERE PARTICULARLY LONG DISTANCES WITH IT.

THE DEALER MADE THE REPAIR LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED THE SAME DAY AS THE RECALL REPAIR WORK WAS COMPLETED. AS OF JULY 5, 2007, THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 30,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200.
MY VEHICLE UNDERWENT INSPECTION FOR SAFETY RECALL #G07. IT WAS DETERMINED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE ELECTRONIC CLUSTER IN MY 2004 DODGE DURANGO HAD TO BE REPLACED, DUE TO FIRE HAZARD. WHEN THEY PULLED THE OLD CLUSTER, AN ELECTRICAL SURGE DAMAGED THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR OF MY VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE CLUSTER, AND TOLD ME THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HAD BEEN DAMAGED WHEN THEY PULLED THE OLD CLUSTER. THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE AND TOLD ME THAT IT WAS DRIVABLE. THEY ORDERED A PART TO REPAIR THE DOOR AND TOLD ME THEY WOULD REPAIR IT. WHEN I PICKED UP MY VEHICLE, I WAS NOT ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE OR THE INSIDE. THIS WAS ON JUNE 14TH. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO ENTER OR EXIT MY CAR VIA THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR FOR OVER 1 WEEK. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN RETURNED TO ME AS "DRIVABLE". I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, AND ASKED FOR A RENTAL UNTIL THE ISSUE WITH THE DOOR IS RESOLVED. THEY INFORMED ME THAT CHRYSLER HAD TO APPROVE THE RENTAL, AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE RENTAL FEES MYSELF. THE DEALERSHIP CREATED A SAFETY HAZARD IN MY VEHICLE, AND RETURNED IT TO ME AS DRIVABLE, AND THEY ARE GOING TO MAKE ME PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR. THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR ON MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN LOCKED FOR 9 DAYS - I HAVE BEEN CLIMBING THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, FOR 9 DAYS. *TR

I RECENTLY NOTICED THAT THE SUV WAS MADE A LOUD TICKING SOUND AT STARTUP, GETTING A LITTLE SOFTER AS THE MOTOR HEATED UP. RETURNING THE VEHICLE TO THE PURCHASED DEALERSHIP,WHICH WAS INSPECTED FOR A FEE, AND FOUND THE CAUSE TO BE THE ALUMINUM SCREWS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE MANIFOLD WHICH BROKE, CAUSING THE LOUD EXHAUST. I THEN PAID $225.00 TO HAVE THE TWO SCREWS DRILLED OUT OF THE ENGINE, AND HAD THE SCREWS REPLACED ALONG WITH A MANIFOLD GASKET. *AK

I AGREE WITH COMPLAINT# 10060005, I FEEL WATER IS POSSIBLY GETTING INTO PLACES IT SHOULD NOT BE, THE DEALER HAD ALREADY RESEALED THE TOP OF MY TRUCK BECAUSE MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WAS LEAKING AND WATER WAS DRIPPING FROM MY HEADLINER!, NOT LONG AGO AFTER IT RAINED WATER WAS COMING IN NEAR THE WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, WE CALLED THE DEALER AGAIN, AND THEY TOLD US THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM THE FIRST TIME! (I HAVE PICTURES OF THE WATER DRIPPING IN MY TRUCK!) I ALSO HAVE VIDEO OF THE CONTROL PANEL AS I WAS DRIVING, WITH THE GAUGES JUMPING AND LIGHTS COMING ON AND OFF! ON THE MORNING OF APRIL 14, 2007, I WAS DRIVING HOME WHEN THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL ON MY DODGE DURANGO 2004 BEGAN TO SMOKE. IT WAS A MATTER OF SECONDS BEFORE THE SMOKE TURNED BLACK AND THICK. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALLED 911. IT WAS A MATTER OF SECONDS BEFORE FLAMES CAME BLASTING OUT OF THE ELECTRICAL PANEL OF MY VEHICLE. THE FIRE SPREAD VERY QUICKLY THROUGH THE PLASTIC ON THE DASHBOARD BREAKING THE WINDSHIELD. THANKFULLY, A GENTLEMAN THAT HAPPENED TO LIVE NEAR BY, BROUGHT OUT A FIRE EXTINGUISHER MANAGING TO PUT OUT THE FLAMES AS THE POLICE GOT THERE, FOLLOWED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE POLICE THEN DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT PROCEEDED TO HOSE DOWN THE ENTIRE CAR AS A PRECAUTION SINCE THE CAR STILL WAS EXTREMELY HOT TO THE TOUCH. I IMMEDIATELY REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND A RECENT RECALL FOR THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL OF MY VEHICLE. HOWEVER, UNTIL TODAY, APRIL 22, 2007 I STILL HAVEN'T GOT A LETTER OF NOTIFICATION FROM DAIMLER CHRYSLER. EVEN WORSE, THEY HAVEN'T EVEN HAD THE COURTESY TO RETURN MY NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS. I INITIALLY FILED THE COMPLAIN WITH THEM ON APRIL 16, 2007. ITS BEEN OVER A WEEK AND I STILL HAVEN'T HEARD A WORD. ACCORDING TO THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER, MY CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS, WHICH IT MEANS THAT I NOT ONLY NEED TO COME UP WITH A DOWN PAYMENT FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE, WHICH I CAN'T AFFORD AT THE MOMENT, BUT THAT I ALSO LOST FAITH IN THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION. I REFUSE TO RISK MY CHILDREN'S LIFE IN ANOTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLE. FOR NOW I WANT DAIMLER CHRYSLER TO FACE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. MEANWHILE, I HAVE BEEN CARELESS AND I HAVE NO WAY TO GET TO SCHOOL (I AM A FULL TIME COLLEGE STUDENT) OR TO GET MY CHILDREN TO THEIR NORMAL ACTIVITIES. THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION SAYS THAT THEY CAN'T AUTHORIZE A RENTAL UNTIL WHENEVER THEIR ADJUSTER CONTACTS ME. I HAVE CALLED THEM AT LEAST FIVE TIMES WITH NO RESPONSE. *TR
