EVERY TIME I FILL UP THE VEHICLE THERE IS A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF GAS THAT SPLASHES OUT BEFORE THE PUMP TURNS OFF. IT GOES ALL OVER THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT WAS REFUELING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE NOZZLE SHUT OFF AND GASOLINE BEGAN SPEWING FROM THE VEHICLE FILLER NECK. THE CONTACT ASSUMED THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE FUEL PUMP AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SECOND GASOLINE STATION WHERE THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE MOLDED VALVE AND CONTROL VALVE WAS FAILING AND THE TANK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. EVERY TIME I FILL THE FUEL TANK ON MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO, WHEN THE PUMP SHUTS OFF, APPROX A PINT OF FUEL SHOOTS OUT OF THE FUEL TANK. SOMETIMES UP TO A FEW FEET AWAY. THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR TO THAT WHICH WAS DESCRIBED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP). THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE MANUFACTURER NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ADD FUEL TO THE VEHICLE, GASOLINE WOULD SPILL OUT ONTO THE GROUND. TO AVOID THE SPILLAGE, HE WAS ONLY ABLE TO ADD A HALF TANK OF FUEL TO THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL 05V034000 FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY: FILLER PIPE AND CAP. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
EVERYTIME I GO TO THE GAS STATION TO PUMP GAS I GET A HUGE SPLASH OF GAS ALL OVER ME AND MY VEHICLE. I WAS DOING SOME RESEARCH AND I THINK ITS COVERED AS A RECALL BUT DODGE SAID IT WAS NOT WHEN I CALLED. I AM GOING TO PRINT OUT THE RECALL NOTICE AND BRING IT IN. HOW CAN YOU HELP ME GET THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM RESOLVED AS MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU GET IT ON YOUR WORK CLOTHES AND SMELL LIKE GASOLINE ALL DAY AND LEFT GAS SPILL ON THE CAR, GAS STATION CONCRETE ETC. NOT SO PLEASANT. ITS BEEN ONGOING FOR I WOULD SAY OVER A YEAR AND THE OVER FLOW IS GETTING WORSE AND SQUIRTING EVERYWHERE. SO SCARED TO PUMP GAS AND STAND FAR AWAY SO SPLASH DOES NOT HIT ME AND CLEAN UP AS BEST AS I CAN EVERYTIME I PUMP GAS. *TR
MY DURANGO WILL STALL WITHOUT WARNING. IT NORMALLY DOES THIS AT LOW SPEEDS SUCH AS COMING UP ON A STOP SIGN OR DOING A 3 POINT TURN. WHEN IT STALLS YOU LOSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. *TR
FUEL POURS OUT OF THE FUEL PORT DURING REFUELING. THE FUEL TANK DOESN'T TRIGGER THE SHUT OFF OF THE FUEL. *TR
I OWN A 2005 DODGE DURANGO SLT 5.7 LITER V8. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 43,100 MILES ON MY VEHICLE. AS OF RIGHT NOW, EVERYTME I FILL UP MY CAR, THE PUMP WILL CLICK OFF AND THEN GAS WILL START SPRAYING OUT OF THE GAS TANK. IT HAS RECENTLY HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN A ROW WITHOUT FAIL. IT APPEARS IT'S SEVERAL CUPS OF GAS THAT SPRAYS OUT. I HAVE TO MAKE SURE I AM CLEAR OF THE GAS TANK PIPE OR I WILL BE COVERED IN GAS. I CONTACTED DODGE WITH THE ISSUE AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE ANY RECALLS. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON MY OWN AND LEARNED THAT THERE WERE TWO RECALLS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I WAS ADVISED TO FILE A COMPLAINT TO LET SOMEONE KNOW THERE ARE STILL MORE OF THESE DANGEROUS ISSUES HAPPENING. PLEASE HELP WITH THIS ISSUE. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
AT THE COMPLETION OF FUELING MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO, THE FUEL PUMP WILL SHUT OFF, THEN 1-2 SECONDS LATER APPROXIMATELY 1 CUP OF FUEL WILL SPIT BACK OUT OF THE FUEL TANK. IT HAS OCCURRED 4 TIME OVER THE PAST 2 MONTHS (EACH TIME I FILL UP). WHILE RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, I CAME ACROSS NHTSA ACTION NUMBER RQ08005, AND CONTACTED CHRYSLER (CASE #20241304) WHO TOLD ME TO BRING THE VEHICLE INTO DELRAY MOTORS TO EVALUATE. THEY REPLACED THE FILLER PIPE, CHARGED ME $403.21, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. AFTER RETURNING THE CAR TO DELRAY MOTORS, THEY HAVE MADE VARIOUS ACCUSATION REGARD ME NOT REPRESENT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, AND NOW THEY ARE SAYING THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE RECALL BECAUSE IT WAS COMPLETED IN AUGUST OF 2005 (WHICH WAS NEVER DONE). HOW DO I GET DODGE/CHRYSLER TO HONOR THIS RECALL? *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER REFUELING THE VEHICLE, FUEL WOULD SPILL BACK OUT ON THE GROUND. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY) BUT WAS ADVISED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
FUEL SPIT BACK OUT OF THE FUEL FILLER NECK WHEN FILLING UP GAS TANK. THIS BEGAN OCCURRING IN DECEMBER 2010 AND OCCURS 100% OF THE TIME THE TANK IS FILLED. ESTIMATED .5 - 1 GALLON OF FUEL IS SPILLED EACH TIME. THIS ISSUE IS SIMILAR TO EXISTING NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 09V003000 / RECALL RECALL 09V-003 /RECALL 05V-034. I CALLED MY LOCAL DODGE DEALER AND THEY STATED MY VIN # IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALLS STATED ABOVE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. MY DURANGO HAS A BUILD DATE OF MARCH 2005 AND THE RECALLS ABOVE ONLY COVERS DURANGOS BUILT THROUGH NOVEMBER 2004. I AM ASKING THE INVESTIGATION BE REOPENED TO DETERMINE IF THE EXISTING RECALLS NEED TO BE EXPANDED TO COVER ADDITIONAL BUILD DATES/VIN NUMBERS.
2005 DODGE DURANGO STALLS SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK AT LOW SPEEDS, WHILE BRAKING, TURNING, PARKING. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON CURVES, SENDING US INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC SINCE POWER STEERING GOES OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN A SCHOOL PARKING LOT SEVERAL TIMES, CREATING A HAZARD. NO PARTICULAR DATE, AS MANY INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED. TAKEN IT IN TO DODGE TWICE FOR SERVICE AND THEY TELL US THAT NOTHING IS WRONG. OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE WRONG AS THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED BEFORE. WE WANT THIS FIXED. WE LIKE THE TRUCK OTHERWISE. IT WOULD BE GREAT IF WE FELT COMPLETELY SAFE IN IT, BUT THIS IS HARD TO DO WHEN IT STALLS WITH NO WARNING. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE FILLER CAP CHECK VALVE ON THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE CONTACT SPOKE TO THE MANUFACTURER, THEY ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 183,000.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A USED 2005 DURANGO. IT SPITS FUEL OUT THE FILLER NECK HORRIBLY WHEN TRYING TO FILL IT UP. EVEN ON SLOWEST SETTING ON THE PUMP HANDLE IT LAUNCHES FUEL ONTO THE TRUCK, PUMP HANDLE, AND ENOUGH TO "RUN" IF GROUND IS SLANTED. I CONTACTED DODGE WHO SAYS BASICALLY ITS MY BABY. I HAVE TO BUY A TANK TO FIX IT. BUT SIMILAR VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ISSUE ARE COVERED UNDER A RECALL. WHEN I QUESTIONED IT TO THE DODGE REPRESENTATIVE HE INSISTED IT WAS A DIFFERENT ISSUE. HOW CAN THIS BE POSSIBLE FOR 2 VEHICLES TO HAVE THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN, ONLY TO FIND SOME ARE COVERED AND SOME ARE NOT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS AND EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT SITUATION, NOT TO MENTION THE EMBARRASSMENT. *TR
FUEL SPILLS OUT WHEN REFUELING. WHILE REFUELING, THE TANK WILL FILL, THE GAS PUMP HANDLE WILL 'CLICK' OFF, THEN A SECOND LATER FUEL SPRAYS OUT ONTO THE GAS PUMP, VEHICLE, GROUND AND ANYONE STANDING NEARBY. THE PROBLEM MAY HAPPEN SEVERAL FILL-UPS IN A ROW, OR MAY SKIP A FILL-UP, AND DO IT AGAIN THE NEXT TIME. FUELING SLOWLY, VERY SLOWLY, DOES NOT STOP THE FUEL SPRAY SPILLAGE. THIS HAPPENS AT ANY FUEL STATION IN AT LEAST 6 STATES NOW. *TR

NUMBER: 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY) AND CALLED THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE ADDING GASOLINE TO THE FUEL TANK IT WOULD SPILL BACK ONTO HIM. THERE NHTSA RECALL #05V034000, FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE STORAGE, TANK ASSEMBLY FILLER PIPE AND CAP. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED HER THAT HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL; THEREFORE SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,812.
I OWN A 2005 DODGE DURANGO AND AT ABOUT 68,000 MILES IT STARTED SPEWING GAS FROM THE FILLER TUBE JUST AFTER THE PUMP CLICKS OFF. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST THE GAS PUMP BUT AT EVERY REFUELING SINCE THE INITIAL INCIDENT THE SAME THING HAPPENS. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE I FOUND THAT DODGE HAD RECALLED SEVERAL 2005 DURANGO'S BUT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I FEEL DODGE HAS UNDERESTIMATED THE SCOPE OF THE RECALL NEEDED TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. GAS BEING SPEWED OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE IS NOT ONLY A DANGER TO THOSE REFUELING AND SURROUNDING THE AREA WHERE REFUELING IS OCCURRING BUT ALSO HARMFUL TO THE ENVIRONMENT. I WOULD ESTIMATE ABOUT 3 TO 4 CUPS OF GAS SPEW OUT IN EACH INSTANCE. *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
I OWN A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS FUEL SPILLED FROM THE GAS TANK OPENING DURING THE END OF MY REGULAR FILL-UPS. I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE PUMP BUT NONE OF THE OTHER CUSTOMERS HAD THAT PROBLEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES. I WILL BE CALLING THE MANUFACTURER CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM AND PRAY FOR A RESOLUTION I WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR. *TR
WHEN I PUT GAS ON MY CAR THE VALVE IN THE FUEL THANK DOES NOT CLOSE AND LEAK GASOLINE TO THE FLOOR. *JS
MY COMPLAINT IS THE SAME AS IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER : 05V034000 HOWEVER DODGE REFUSES TO CORRECT IT. I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO WHEREIN THE FUEL TANK FILLER TUBE INLET CHECK VALVE DOES NOT FULLY CLOSE AT THE END OF REFUELING. THIS ALLOWS FUEL TO ESCAPE FROM THE VEHICLE FILLER NECK. CONSEQUENCE: FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE CAN RESULT IN A FIRE. DODGE HAS TOLD ME THAT MY VIN NUMBER DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR A RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT IS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO WITH THE SAME SAFETY ISSUE. THEY SAY THAT THE QUALIFYING VEHICLES WERE BUILT BEFORE 10/12/2004 AND THAT MINE WAS BUILT AFTER THAT DATE. I MAINTAIN THAT THEY EITHER USED THE SAME BAD PART IN MY VEHICLE OR DID NOT PROPERLY FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM FACED WITH A $825 REPAIR BILL FOR A DESIGN/PART FLAW THAT THEY DID NOT CORRECT AND THEREFORE SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING AT THEIR EXPENSE. THIS FAULTY PART WAS REPLACED ON AUGUST 12, 2008 IN RESPONSE TO MY COMPLAINT 10219910 BUT HAS FAILED YET AGAIN. THE RECALL ON THE SERVICE DICUMENT WAS LISTED AS E01-410-567-1836 FROM BUSINESS CENTER/MARK WITTHOLZ. THE DEALER ONCE AGAIN HAS REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE $825 REPLACEMENT COST. PLEASE CONSIDER RULING ONCE AGAIN THAT THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION CAUSED BY AN OBVIOUSLY FLAWED PART SHOULD BE REPAIRED AT CHRYSLER'S EXPENSE. THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO TELL ME THE MAKE OF THE REPLACEMENT TANK INSTALLED ON AUGUST 12, 2008 SO I HAVE INDICATED FAILED ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO SUBMIT THIS COMPLAINT. *TR
WHEN REFUELING GAS SPILLS FROM THE FILLER TUBE WHEN THE NOZZLE CLICKS OFF. THIS HAS OCCURRED 5 OR 6 TIMES IN A ROW SINCE NOVEMBER 15, 2010. IT HAS BEEN A CONTINUOUS PROBLEM SINCE IT BEGAN. THIS OCCURS AT FILL UP. IT HAPPENS AT VARIOUS GAS STATIONS, SO IT IS NOT A GAS PUMP FAULT. THIS IS THE SAME CONDITION REPORTED IN CAMPAIGN 05V034000 AND 09V003000. MY VEHICLE VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, BUT IT HAS THE SAME DEFECT SYMPTOMS AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. CHRYSLER WAS CONTACTED. CHRYSLER WILL NOT INCLUDE IT IN THE RECALL, BUT SAID THEY MAY HELP WITH THE REPAIR PENDING A DEALERS REPORT. *TR

NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO FAILURE. AT BEGINNING OF NOVEMBER 2010 BEGAN TO FILL GAS TANK, WHEN TANK FULL, GAS NOZZLE CLICKED OFF AND A COUPLE OF SECONDS LATER GASOLINE SPRAYED OUT ALL OVER MY PANTS AND ALL OVER THE GROUND. SINCE THAT TIME, EVERYTIME TANK IS FILLED, THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED. MY CONCERN IS IF THERE IS AN IGNITION SOURCE WITH ALL THE GAS THAT LEAKS OUT, A FIRE COULD RESULT, OR IF THE PUMP HAPPENS TO HAVE A FLANGE NEAR END, IT HAS SPRAYED OUT FROM SIDES, AND IF CHILD HAPPENS TO BE WALKING BY, IT COULD SPRAY A CHILD IN THE EYES. I DO HAVE A VIDEO OF ONE OF THE EPISODES OF GAS COMING OUT FROM AROUND PUMP NOZZLE AFTER PUMP CLICKS OFF. I DID CALL CHRYSLER AS IT APPEARS THERE IS A SIMILAR RECALL, HOWEVER THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT MY AUTOMOBILE IS NOT PART OF THAT RECALL. THEY HAD ME TAKE IT TO A DODGE DEALER TO GET IT FIXED AND SAID THEY WOULD COMPENSATE ME FOR SOME OF THE COST TO GET IT FIXED, HOWEVER WOULDN'T TELL ME WHAT AMOUNT THEY WOULD PAY UNTIL AFTER TAKING IT IN. PER SERVICE DEPT REPORT "THE FUEL TANK FLAPPER IS STICKING". THE FUEL TANK AND FILLER NECK ASSEMBLY WERE FIXED TO REMEDY THE ISSUE. OLD PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. CHRYSLER SAID THAT THEY WOULD PAY FOR ALL BUT $250.00 FOR WHICH I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR. *TR
WHEN REFILLING THE VEHICLE GASOLINE SQUIRTS OUT OF THE RECOVERY TUBE. THE HAPPENS AFTER EVERY FILL UP, IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU FILL UP QUICK OR SLOW. AFTER THE SHUTOFF ENGAGES FUEL SPILLS ALL OVER YOU, THE DURANGO AND THE GROUND.
FIRST, THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING. THEN, THE SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER QUIT WORKING WHEN THE ABS, PARKING BRAKE, CHECK ENGINE, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ALL CAME ON. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO REPAIR THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER RECALL, AND WAS TOLD THAT IT NEEDS A NEW ABS CONTROL MODULE AND WIRING HARNESS. THE WIRING HARNESS IS COMPLETELY MELTED, PROBABLY BECAUSE OF A SHORT IN THE CONTROL MODULE - AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT I WAS TOLD AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE WIRING HARNESS IS ON A NATIONAL BACKORDER UNTIL LATE SEPTEMBER, SO I AM WITHOUT ABS BRAKES, TRACTION CONTROL, AND A SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER UNTIL THEN. *TR
WHEN FILLING FUEL TANK, A LARGE AMOUNT OF FUEL SPRAYS OUT RIGHT AFTER THE PUMP SHUTS OFF. EASILY A QUART OF GAS SPRAYS EVERYWHERE. EVEN REFUELING SLOWLY DOES NOT PREVENT THIS. SPILLED GAS PRESENTS A FIRE HAZARD.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED, AND STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT IMMEDIATELY AFTER BUYING IT. GAS OVERFLOWS OUT OF THE GAS TANK ALMOST EVERY TIME I FILL IT UP. IT'S GOING TO CATCH ON FIRE AT SOME POINT BECAUSE OF THIS. ALSO, THE ENGINE STALLS OUT AT RANDOM TIMES CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STEER AND BRAKE VERY POORLY UNTIL RESTARTED. I NOTICED THAT OTHER MODEL YEARS OF THIS SAME VEHICLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THIS ONE, HOWEVER DODGE REFUSES TO FIX THIS ONE - EVEN THOUGH OTHER MODEL YEARS HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND REPAIRED. THIS STUPID THING IS GOING TO BLOW UP ONE DAY AT THE GAS STATION, OR I'M GOING TO CRASH INTO SOMEBODY WHEN IT STALLS, BUT I CAN'T AFFORD TO SPEND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO TAKE IT EVERY MECHANIC ON THE PLANET TO FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT - ESPECIALLY SINCE DODGE ALREADY KNOWS WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT - BUT JUST WON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR BUILDING IT POORLY. *TR

2005 DODGE DURANGO HEMI. WHEN DRIVING APPROX 30 MPH MY DURANGO JUST DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. I LOST ALL STEERING AND BRAKES. ITS A MIRACLE I DIDN'T CAUSE A 20 CAR PILE UP. I WAS JUST ABOUT TO GET ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. I HAVE 3 KIDS WHO WERE LUCKILY NOT IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME. THEY TOWED MY DURANGO TO A LOCAL SHOP WHO COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT WAS WRONG. THEY INTURN TOWED IT TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME RIGHT AWAY THAT THE VALVE SPRING WENT AND NOW I NEED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. I CANNOT BELIEVE THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS, ESPECIALLY WHEN I SEE HOW MANY OTHER HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. DODGE NEEDS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND TAKE CARE OF ALL OF US WITH THESE ENGINE PROBLEMS. AT THIS POINT I'D RATHER BUY A TOYOTA THAT ANOTHER DODGE. THE 2005 DODGE DURANGO VEHICLE IS SHOWING SYMPTOMS LISTED IN RECALL 09V003000 -- AT THE END OF REFUELING, SOME FUEL ESCAPES FROM THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE FILLER NECK, WHICH, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, CAN RESULT IN A FIRE. THIS IS A CONSISTENT ISSUE, ALTHOUGH THE AMOUNT OF ESCAPED FUEL VARIED FROM STATION TO STATION. DEALER SUGGESTED MY VEHICLE IS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL BASED ON THE VIN NUMBER, AND THEREFORE ANY REPAIRS WOULD BE PAID OUT OF POCKET.
