TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ADDING FUEL TO THE VEHICLE IT BEGAN TO SPILL OUT FROM THE FILLER NECK. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER FUEL WAS ADDED TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP) AND 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN DISPENSING FUEL INTO THE FUEL TANK TO THE FULL CAPACITY LEVEL, FUEL WOULD SPRAY OUT CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL TANK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO DEFECTIVE INLET CHECK VALVES. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY) YET THE CONTACTS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER TO FILE A COMPLAINT AND NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
2005 DODGE DURANGO SPILLS FUEL WHEN FINISHING FILLING THE TANK. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, BUT DODGE WILL ONLY INCLUDE CERTAIN VINS IN THE RECALL, EVEN THOUGH THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL VEHICLE IS AFFECTED WITH DIFFERENT VINS. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT CAN RESULT IN A FIRE OR EXPLOSION. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THERE WERE TWO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS 09V003000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY) AND 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY: FILLER PIPE AND CAP). THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DEFECTS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
THE FUEL TANK SPEWS GAS AT ME WHEN I FILL IT UP, AND SOMETIMES ONLY WHEN I PARTIALLY FILL IT GAS COMES OUT AS WELL. DODGE HAS A RECALL ISSUED ON SOME 2005 DODGE DURANGO VINS, BUT MINE IS NOT IN THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT HAS THE PROBLEM. I NEED HELP GETTING IT FIXED AS DODGE CURRENTLY DOES NOT FEEL IT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. IT FIRST OCCURRED A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM. *TR

THE CONTACT LOCATED A RECALL PERTAINING TO THE FAILURE FOR THE FUEL SYSTEM UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V003000 (GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY) BUT THE CONTACTS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WAS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE A FIRE AND THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,700.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE BOTTOM OF HER GASOLINE TANK WAS COVERED WITH RUST. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO HAVE IT REPAINTED AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE SINCE THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE EITHER. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 71,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGES WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I HAVE ALREADY FILED THIS COMPLAINT BUT NEVER GOT ANY RESOLUTION AND THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. THE ENGINE STALLS AT LOW SPEEDS. IT SOUNDS JUST LIKE YOUR WHAT IS DESCRIBED IN YOUR INVESTIGATION EA05018. IT IS NOW AT THE MECHANIC AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A PROBLEM SO FAR. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND IF THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT I WANT TO KNOW WHY CHRYSLER/DODGE OR THE ODI CANNOT OFFER A FIX IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SAFETY IS FURTHER COMPROMISED? *TR
THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH OUR DURANGO. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS ABOUT ONE MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT IT USED WITH APPROX 60K MILES ON IT. IT IS TOTALLY AT RANDOM. I'M ALWAYS ABLE TO POP IT INTO NEUTRAL AND START IT BACK UP AGAIN AS IF NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH THIS IS NOT ONLY THAT THE ENGINE TOTALLY SHUTS OFF(AS IF THAT ISN'T A HUGE ISSUE IN ITSELF), BUT THAT THE POWER STEERING/POWER BRAKES GO OUT AS WELL MAKING THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ACCIDENT A HUGE ISSUE. IT HAS ALWAYS HAD A STUTTER WHEN DRIVING. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER, BEING TOLD THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM OR PULL ANY CODES. IN ORDER FOR THEM TO FIND THE PROBLEM I WOULD HAVE TO PAY THEM TO LOCATE THEIR DEFECT. AT THIS POINT DODGE NEEDS TO RESOLVE THIS SINCE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THIS HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN, THE VEHICLE STALLED. WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED, THERE WOULD BE NO POWER STEERING, BRAKES OR ELECTRICAL POWER. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE IF THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000.
FUEL (APPROXIMATELY 1/4-1/2 GALLON EACH EVENT) SPRAYS OUT OF FUEL TANK FILLER NECK DURING REFUELING WHEN TANK REACHES FULL POINT. EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS REFERENCED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID 09V003000. HOWEVER, DODGE REPORTS MY VIN IS NOT ONE OF THE AFFECTED MODELS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. INITIALLY THOUGHT IT MAY HAVE BEEN A ONE-TIME FLUKE, BUT HAS SINCE CONTINUED TO EJECT FUEL FROM THE TANK EVERY TIME I REFUEL THE TANK UPON REACHING THE FULL POINT DURING REFUEL. HAD NO INDICATIONS OF ANY PROBLEMS PRIOR TO FIRST EVENT; RECEIVED NO MALFUNCTION LIGHTS. AFTER FIRST EVENT, NOTICED LOUD VENTING SOUND COMING FROM TANK APPROXIMATELY 5-10 MINUTES LATER WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD - INITIALLY THOUGHT I HAD AIR QUICKLY ESCAPING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR TIRE, BUT REALIZED IT WAS COMING FROM THE TANK. HAS NOT DONE THIS SINCE. TO DATE, I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY MALFUNCTION LIGHTS OR INDICATIONS, OTHER THAN THE CONSISTENT FUEL SPILL EVERY TIME I FILL UP THAT WILL SOON BEGIN TO EAT INTO THE PAINT IF NOT REMEDIED SOON. I DEPEND ON THIS VEHICLE TO MAKE LONG-DISTANCE TRIPS FREQUENTLY, TRAVELLING THROUGH LOCATIONS WITH NO SERVICES, SO NOT COMPLETELY FILLING THE FUEL TANK IS NOT A SAFE OR VIABLE LONG-TERM OPTION. VEHICLE NOW HAS 90,000 MILES.
I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO THAT WAS PURCHASED FROM CARS PLUS IN LENOIR, NC IN MARCH 2010. STARTING ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE ALL POWER WHILE IT WAS BEING DRIVEN IF YOU START AROUND A TURN OR HIT THE BRAKES. THIS DOES NOT OCCUR EVERY TIME YOU TAKE A TURN OR HIT THE BRAKES. IN THE PAST THREE WEEKS IT HAS HAPPENED 8 TIMES. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE VEHICLE LOOSES ALL POWER. YOU HAVE NO BRAKES AND NO POWER STEERING. THERE ARE NO WARNINGS THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN. WE HAVE HAD IT TO THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER TWICE AND SOMEONE ELSE ONCE. NOTHING PULLS UP ON THE COMPUTER AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. DODGE HAS TOLD ME THIS IS MY PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE ABOUT 800 COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM IN THE 2005 DURANGOS ON THE COMPUTER, BECAUSE MY WARRANTY IS OUT. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT. I DON'T WANT ANY INJURY TO COME TO MY CHILDREN OR SOMEONE ELSE'S CHILDREN. I AM PAYING PAYMENTS ON A VEHICLE I CAN'T DRIVE AND DON'T WANT TO TRADE IT IN AND SOMEONE ELSE GET STUCK WITH THIS VEHICLE AND POSSIBLY GET INJURED DRIVING IT. I DON'T HAVE ANY MORE OPTIONS AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT TO DO. MY INSURANCE COMPANY HAS TOLD ME I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ACCIDENT IN THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY CAN'T FIND A DEFECT. MY 2005 DURANGO HAS BEEN SHUTTING COMPLETELY OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING IT. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL WAS ENGAGED, THE RIGHT TURN LIGHT FLASHED AS OPPOSED TO THE LEFT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN SHIFTING THE STEERING COLUMN UP OR DOWN, IT WOULD CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS INITIALLY OCCURRED SPORADICALLY BUT PROGRESSED INTO A FREQUENT FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,750 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,846.
WHEN FILLING WITH FUEL, THE TANK IS NOT PROPERLY VENTING SO WHEN FILLING IS COMPLETE IT, 3 SECONDS LATER IT FORCES FUELS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK AND SPRAYS FUEL EVERYWHERE. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK, GAS WILL SPRAY OUT OF THE TANK. SOMETIMES THE PUMP WILL AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF, OTHER TIMES IT REQUIRES MANUAL ASSISTANCE. ACCORDING TO WWW.MOTORTREND.COM, THERE HAVE BEEN TWO RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM - ONE IN 2005 AND THE OTHER IN 2009. WHEN CALLING DODGE, THEY STATE THAT THOSE RECALLS MAY HAVE BEEN "VIN SPECIFIC" AND THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY RECALLS IN THE SYSTEM FOR MY VEHICLE. *TR
GAS SPITS BACK EVERY TIME IT IS FILLED. THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGES IT IS A VERY WELL KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED MANUFACTURING FAULT, BUT IS NOT AUTHORIZED TO REPAIR IT, AS THE VEHICLES' VIN DOES NOT FALL WITHIN THE RANGE SPECIFIED BY CHRYSLER'S LAST TWO RECALLS. *TR
MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO KEEPS "SHUTTING OFF" WHILE I'M DRIVING. I AM USUALLY TURNING AND GOING LESS THAN 20 MPH WHEN IT SHUTS OFF. MY RADIO STAYS WHEN THIS OCCURS. I HAVE TO PUT IT IN PARK AND TURN IT BACK ON. IT HAS DONE THIS SINCE 2006 SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED IT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED TWICE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT NOTHING SHOWS UP WRONG. THEY SUGGESTED THE NEXT TIME IT DOES IT, TO LEAVE IT BE AND HAVE IT TOWED. THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED, BUT FOUND NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY: FILLER PIPE AND CAP) AND WAS TOLD BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,000.

WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK WITH GASOLINE THE GAS SPITS BACK UP OUT OF THE GAS TANK FILLER TUBE AND ALL OVER THE PERSON FILLING UP THE GAS TANK. THE DODGE DURANGO HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM ON FEB 1, 2005 NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V034000. AFTER NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS CHRYSLER ON JAN 6, 2009 NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V003000 EXPANDED THE RECALL AND REPORTED TO THE NHTSA THAT THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED IN PRODUCTION AND THE NHTSA CLOSED THE CASE. WELL, CHRYSLER DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM OR THE FIX HAS FAILED. MY DURANGO WAS PRODUCED AFTER THE LATEST RECALL ENDING DATE AND HAS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE TAKEN MY DURANGO TO THE DEALER ON SEPT 14, 2011 AFTER REPORTING THE PROBLEM TO CHRYSLER (CASE NUMBER 21324740). THE DEALER CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM. CHRYSLER OFFERED TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK FOR $200.00. I DECLINED THE OFFER BECAUSE I BELIEVE THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED. THIS IS A SERIOUS LIFE / SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO LIGHT! *TR
FUEL SPRAYS OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS FILLED. THE SHUT-OFF CANNOT BE RELIED UPON, AND THE TANK CANNOT BE FILLED FULLY. CONTACTED DODGE 800 NUMBER AND DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED MY VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, ALTHOUGH IT DISPLAYS THE SAME SYMPTOMS OF THE RECALLED VEHICLES. *TR
OVERFLOWING GAS AT THE END OF FILLUP. THE PUMP SHUTS OFF AS IT SHOULD, BUT THEN GAS OVERFLOWS OUT. WE ARE NOT TOPPING OFF - THIS HAPPENS WITH THE FIRST SHUTOFF OF THE GAS PUMP. *TR

AT THE END OF FUELING FUEL GUSHES BACK FROM FUEL FILLER RECEPTICAL. THIS HAPPENS USING PUMP SET FOR AUTO CUT OFF OR MANUAL OPERATION. THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME FUELING IS COMPLETED WITHOUT STOPPING SHORT OF AUTO FUEL CUT OFF BY THE PUMP. THIS TO ME IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS ANY SOURCE OF IGNITION COULD CAUSE A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I HAVE FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH MANY DIFFERENT DURANGO YEAR MODELS BUT ONLY TWO SEEM TO FALL UNDER THEIR RECALLS, THIS PROBLEM IS NOT RELATED TO ANY OF THE NORMALLY CONSIDERED NORMAL WEAR ITEMS BUT RATHER A SYSTEM THAT SHOULD BE REASONABLY CONSIDERED TO LAST THE LIFETIME OF THE VEHICLE. THIS OCCURS EACH AND EVERY TIME THE CAR IS FUELED. DODGE HAS A RECALL ON THE GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY RECALL FOR 2005 DODGE DURANGO'S BUT MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED. I HAVE A SAFETY ISSUE ON THE VEHICLE WHEN I'M FUELING THE VEHICLE UP AND THE GAS PUMP SAFETY SWITCH CLICKS AND SHUTS OFF THE PUMP WHEN THE TANK IS FULL, FUEL SPEWS BACK OUT OF THE TANK. THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE PLACED IN NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED, WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE CAM SHAFT AND CRANK SENSORS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
MY VEHICLE HAD THE ENGINE LIGHT COME ON (MIL), AND WAS INSPECTED FOR MASS STATE INSPECTION. IT FAILED DUE TO EMISSIONS. THE ENGINE LIGHT INDICATED A EVAP LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN TO A LOCAL SERVICE STATION FOR THE ISSUE, AND I WAS ADVISED THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED REPLACEMENT AND THAT THE TOP WAS CORRODED (PLASTIC). THE SERVICE SHOP THOUGHT IT WAS ODD AS THE VEHICLE WAS MAINTAINED PROPERLY, LOW MILEAGE, AND NEVER SAW THE PLASTIC JUST CRUMBLE LIKE THIS. THEY HELD ONTO THE ORIGINAL CHRYSLER FUEL PUMP FOR A WHILE AND THEN DISCARDED IT. ONCE REPAIR COMPLETED, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO BUCK (PULLING). IT WAS BROUGHT BACK TO SERVICE SHOP, AND NO CODE WAS AVAILABLE, BUT WAS TOLD COMPUTER NEEDED TO CATCH UP AS IT WAS CLEARED AT TIME OF REPAIR DUE TO THE BATTERY BEING DISCONNECTED. A WEEK PASSED VEHICLE STILL BUCKING. BROUGHT TO DEALER, KELLY CHRYSLER JEEP AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE ISSUE AND INSPECTED NEW FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT FOR FAULTY WORKMANSHIP AND FOUND NOTHING. DROVE TRUCK, AND STILL BUCKING. BROUGHT TO ANOTHER LOCAL SERVICE STATION, AND THEY REPLACED TWO SENSORS, CRANK SHAFT, AND EGR. BUCKING STOPPED, BUT ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. INSPECTED AGAIN, AND STATES EVAP LEAK. LOCAL SERVICE DOES NOT HAVE SMOKE MACHINE, SO TRUCK WENT TO THE DEALER, KELLY CHRYSLER AND FOR RECALL ON INLET VALVE. UPON INSPECTION, TOP OF WHOLE FUEL TANK CORRODED AS WELL AS THE FUEL PUMP AGAIN. FIRE HAZARD! PROBLEMS ALL CONNECTED TO FUEL SYSTEM. THE INLET VALVE CAUSED THE FUEL TO SPILL OVER AND UNDER THE REAR LEFT OF THE TRUCK CAUSING CORROSION TO THE PAINT, AND THE TOP OF THE TANK AND FUEL PUMP. THIS IS THE 2ND FUEL PUMP IN 2 YEARS??? IT TOOK CHRYSLER 8 YEARS TO ADVISE ME OF THE RECALL FOR THE INLET VALVE AND NOW THERE IS ALL THIS ENSUING DAMAGE AS A RESULT BESIDES THE FIRE HAZARD AND THE FUMES THAT ROSE UP IN THE TRUCK BODY. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGES! *TR

THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND WENT TO START IT AND IT WOULDN'T START. TOOK 3 TIMES UNTIL IT DID START AND STAY STARTED. I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM TAKING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL AND TRIED TO TURN TO GO UP THE HILL TO MY STREET WHEN I REALIZED I COULDN'T TURN OR STOP CAUSE MY VEHICLE CUT OFF AGAIN AND I LOST COMPLETE CONTROL SINCE I HAD NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES. I ALMOST WENT INTO THE DITCH BUT LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO STOP SINCE I WASN'T GOING VERY FAST. THIS WAS MY LAST STRAW SINCE IF I DO WRECK IT WILL BE MY FAULT AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR IT SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL OUT ON THIS SITUATION. FOR THE FOURTH TIME IN AS MANY MONTHS, MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO HAS COMPLETELY LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THIS PAST FEBRUARY, I HAD THE DEALER PUT IN NEARLY $2000 WORTH OF WORK IN ADDITION TO FIXING THE RECALLED ISSUES OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND FUEL TANK. THE POWER LOSS HAPPENED AFTER THIS AND AFTER HAVING TAKEN IT BACK ONCE TO THE DEALER I WILL NOT TAKE IT TO THEM AGAIN DUE TO POOR SERVICE. I HAVE ALSO HAD MY LOCAL MECHANIC RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON THE CAR, BUT NOTHING COMES UP. THE CAR SIMPLY LOSES POWER AND I AM FORCED TO TRY TO STEER IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT IT IN PARK, AND START IT UP AGAIN. NO "CHECK ENGINE" OR OTHER WARNING LIGHTS COME ON. WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MILES PER HOUR IN A RAIN STORM THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SUFFERED A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. ENGINE WOULD STOP AND THEN RESTART, ALL POWERED EQUIPMENT WOULD TURN OFF AND THEN BACK ON. EVERY LIGHT IN INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD GO OFF AND THEN BACK ON AGAIN. VEHICLE WAS UNRESPONSIVE TO CYCLING OF THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WOULD TURN OFF WHILE THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS IN THE FULL RUN POSITION. THE VEHICLE WOULD CONTINUE TO RUN WHEN IGNITION SWITCH WAS MOVED TO THE OFF POSITION. AFTER BEING POWERED OFF FOR A LONG TIME AND WITH THE KEY COMPLETELY REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND ANY ACCESSORIES (RADIO, AC, ETC) WHICH HAD BEEN POWERED ON BEFORE SHUTDOWN, WOULD RE-ACTIVATE. *LN

THEY ALSO ADVISED HIM THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER (09V003000-FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY). THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 68,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.
