DT: ENGINE STALLED ABOUT 5 DIFFERENT TIMES WHILE SLOWING DOWN. SHE STARTED VEHICLE AND IT DIED WHILE SHE WAS SITTING STILL. DEALER DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS, AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW IF IT WILL BE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET.*AK UPDATE 11/15/05. *JB....CONTACT COMPLAINED ABOUT VEHICLE STALLING. MANUFACTURER'S RECALL OF FUEL TANK, AND AIRBAG LIGHT PROBLEM. IN REGARD TO STALLING, THE CONTACT WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE STALLING PROBLEM COULD NOT BE REPEATED BY SERVICE TECHNICIANS AND THAT NO CODES WERE AVAILABLE AFTER COMPUTER DIAGNOSIS. THEN, WAS TOLD TO START VEHICLE WHEN IT STALLS THE NEXT TIME AND HAVE IT TOWED DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP. IN THIS WAY, THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO OBTAIN THE CODE FOR THE PROBLEM. ALSO, THEY TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THE IDLE WASN'T CORRECT AND THEY ADJUSTED IT APPROPRIATELY. CONCERNING THE FUEL TANK RECALL, AFTER RECALL SERVICE WAS PERFORMED, THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED. FINALLY THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND STAY ON DURING VEHICLE OPERATION. THE DEALERSHIP INVESTIGATED IT AND FOUND A WIRE PROBLEM WHICH THEY REPAIRED. *AK
DT: THE CONTACT WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING SYSTEM. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS THE FRONT END VIBRATED. THE SERVICE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
SUN ROOF WAS LEAKING, THE HOSES WERE PLUGGED UP, VEHICLE BRAND NEW. WATER LEAKED THROUGH THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENT IN ROOF, WHERE DIGITAL INFORMATION DISPLAYED. THEY ORDER PARTS, HAD THREE OF THE TUBES/HOSES, BUT ONE ON NATIONAL BACKORDER. *NM
FUEL TANK INLET CHECK VALVE FAILS CAUSING GAS TO LEAK OUT AT CONCLUSION OF A FUELING WHEN STATIONARY. THIS HAS DAMAGED THE REAR QUARTER PANEL OVER THE YEARS. THIS IS THE SAME CONDITION AS COVERED IN CHRYSLER RECALL NO. H45, HOWEVER, THEY ONLY RECALLED 18,951 MANUFACTURED FROM OCT-NOV 2004. THIS DURANGO (MARCH 2005), AS WELL AS MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE COMPLAINED, IS OUTSIDE OF THOSE DATES AND YET HAVE THE SAME DEFECT. H45 SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ALL 2005 DURANGO MODELS.
ONCE AGAIN WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 DURANGO SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A TURN THE VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION. ONCOMING TRAFFIC JUST MISSED COLLIDING WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO THERE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE ACCELERATOR STICKING CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO HAVE EXCESSIVE RPM. ALSO THE FRONT END SEEMS TO HAVE SOME TYPE OF PROBLEM, WHILE TURNING THE VEHICLE THE FRONT END KNOCKS AND FEELS AS IF THE WHEELS ARE GOING TO FALL OFF. DAIMLER CHRYLSER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE STALLING PROBLEM AGAIN. THIS IS MY SECOND DURANGO AS THIS WAS THE REPLACEMENT FOR THE 2004 (LEMON) DURANGO WHICH DAIMLER CHRYLSER BOUGHT BACK. CHRYSLER STILL HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE STALLING PROBLEM AS THIS SEEMES TO BE A BIG PROBLEM WITH THE 2004 MODEL YEAR AS WELL. THE DEALESHIP HAD A MECHANIC TEST DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND THE STALLING COULD NOT BE REPRODUCED. THEREFORE NOTHING WAS FIXED AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS, HOPEFULLY SOMEONE LOOKS INTO THE CRASH DATA STATISTICS OF HOW MANY DURANGO HAD CRASHES DUE TO VEHICLE STALLING. *AK
WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK ON OUR 2005 DURANGO GASOLINE POURS OUT OF THE FUEL TANK FILLER NECK WHEN IT IS FULL. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FILLER TUBE BUT THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. *AK
GASOLINE SHOOTS OUT OF THE FUEL TANK FILLER NECK WHEN THE GAS TANK IS FILLED UP. *JB
WHEN COMING TO A STOP OR SLOWING DOWN, WHILE TURNING THE VEHICLE IT STALLS OUT , DEALERSHIP FLASH A NEW PROGRAM IN THE COMPUTER, HAPPENED AGAIN ABOUT A WEEK LATER AFTER THIS WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED , ALSO STALLS WHEN YOU FIRST START THE VEHICLE AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE. *JB
ON THE NEW 2005 DODGE DURANGOS V6 THERE COULD BE THE POSSIBILTY OF A ROLL BACK ON A HILL OR INCLINE THE CAR DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE THE GAS WHEN BEING ACCELERATED AND IT FELLS AS IF IT WOULD ROLL BACKWARDS AT ANY TIME I RETURNED MY NEW ONE AND HAD TO TAKE A BIG LOSS ON MY PURCHASE AND THEN I GOT A V8 INSTEAD THEY DID NOT EVEN ACKNOWLEGED THE CAR AS HAVING A PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY SAID IT WAS TO KNEW TO MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENT YET AND HAD TO WAIT AND SEE IF THE MANUFACTURER MAKES A AJUSTMENT OR A RECALL. I JUST WANT SOMEONE TO MAKE NOTE OF THIS PROBLEM IN CASE SOME WAS TO GET HURT BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THE DURANGO I WAS AFRAID AND SCARED WHEN I WENT UP A HILL AND IT DID NOT RESPOND RIGHT WHEN IT WAS SUPPOSE TO TAKE THE GAS AND IT WOULDNT AND I WAS NOT EVEN ON BIG HILL AND I WOULD HATE TO HAVE TO DRIVE IT AROUND ANY MOUNTAIN RESORTS IT COULD BE DANGEROUS IN MY OPION, BUT MY DEALERSHIP ACTED AS IF IT HAD NO PROBLEM AND THAT WAS VERY UPSETTING TO ME THEY ACTED AS IF IT WAS SOMETHING I WAS DOING WROUNG BUT I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY KIND OF PROBLEM OR EVERY EXPERIENCED ANY PROBLEMS LIKE THIS BEFORE. SO PLEASE MAKE NOTE OF THIS I MAY HELP SOMEONE IN THE FUTURE BECAUSE I TALKED TO CHRYSLER REPS AND THEY ACTED LIKE IT WAS NO BIG DEAL AND THAT WAS VERY WRONG TO BE BRUSHED OFF LIKE I WAS NOW I KNOW WHY PEOPLE DO GET HURT BECAUSE OF PEOPLE NOT WANTING TO DEAL WITH IT BECAUSE THEY DONT WANT TO ADMIT THERE IS A PROBLEM SO I TOOK A BIG LOSS IN MY PURCHASE BECAUSE I COULD NOT FIND ANY ONE TO HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM OR FIX IT AND I DID NOT WANT TO GET HURT THEY WOULD NOT HELP ME . *AK
I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH AND I FELT A JOLT. THEN CAR LEANED TO THE LEFT SLIGHTLY AND THEN JERKED SHARPLY TO THE LEFT ABOUT FOUR TO FIVE FEET INTO A CEMENT PILLAR. I HAD TO GET OUT OF THE CAR THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE BECAUSE THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WAS PINNED SHUT BY THE PILLAR. WHEN I GOT OUT AND WALKED AROUND TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE I SAW MY LEFT FRONT TIRE LAYING FLAT PARALLEL WITH THE GROUND, PINNED PARTIALLY UNDER THE VEHICLE. ALL OF THE COMPONENTS OF THE TIRE (THE BRAKES, SUSPENSION, BRAKE LINE, ETC.) WERE STILL ATTACHED TO THE TIRE. WHERE THE UPPER BALL JOINT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE WAS A LARGE CRACK IN THE METAL, AND THE TIE ROD WAS SNAPPED. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE FRONT LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE IMPACT WITH THE PILLAR. I AM CURRENTLY IN LITIGATION WITH THE MANUFACTURER BECAUSE THEY WERE SAYING IT WAS MY FAULT. I WAS DRIVING A 2005 DODGE DURANGO WITH 2042 MILES ON IT THAT WAS PURCHASED ON 11/30/04.*AK
I HAD WON THIS VEHICLE IN A LEMON LAW SUIT AGAINST CHRYSLER. WHEN I PICKED UP THE NEW VEHICLE (DODGE DURANGO 05 W/ 5.7) IT HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE SALESMAN ASSURED ME THAT IT WAS BECAUSE THE CAR WAS LEFT RUNNING WHILE THEY WERE PUMPING GAS. LIGHT WENT OFF AFTER SHUTTING OFF AND OPENING GAS CAP. *NM
RECALL CAMPAIGN 05V034000 CONCERNING FUEL TANK FILLER. FUEL SPILLED OUT OF THE FILLER NECK WHEN REFUELING TO FULL. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *AK
2005 DODGE DURANGO LIMITED (5.7 HEMI). WHILE DRIVING SUV IT JUST TURNS OFF. PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES NOW AND HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 3 TIMES WHERE THEY SAY THEIR IS NO PROBLEM. *JB
DT: WHEN COMING TO A STOP VEHICLE DIED. ONCE AT A STOP SIGN. VEHICLE DIED WAS WHEN THE GAS APPLIED. THERE WERE NO DASH LIGHTS WHEN THE VEHICLE DIESD THIS WAS A 2005 VEHICLE. THERE HAD BEEN 4 STALLING PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE IDLES IN HIGH AND WHINES. THE IDLE IS NOT ALL THE TIME. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS 3 OR 4 TIMES. THE CLIMATE WAS NOT A FACTOR. THE VEHICLE HAD CONTIUALLY HAD ONGOING PROBLEMS. THE DEALERSHIP TRIED TO FIX THE STALLING PROBLEM. THE COMPUTER HAS BEEN RESET , AND AN IDLE SWITCH WAS ADDED. RIGHT NOW CONSUMER IS WAITING FOR THE TOOLS FROM CHRYSLER TO FIX THE RECALL PART. THE CONSUMER CALLED IN ADVANCE FOR AN APPOINTMENT. DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE ALL DAY, BUT THEY VDIDN'T HAVE THE CORRECT TOOLS.*AK
WHEN CONSUMER ROLLS THE WINDOWS DOWN IN THE 2005 DODGE DURANGO THE WHOLE VEHICLE SHAKES.*MR CONSUMER STATES THAT WHEN WINDOWS ARE DOWN THE PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE EARS HURT. SERVICE MANAGER WAS ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM BUT REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM, SAYING IT WAS AN ENGINEER PROBLEM AND TOLD CONSUMER TO JUST ROLL THE FRONT WINDOW DOWN. CONSUMER FEELS THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT, OR IN AN ACCIDENT.*SB
EACH TIME WE FILL THE FUEL TANK OF OUR 2005 DODGE DURANGO THE TANK OVER FLOWS AND FUEL COMES POURING OUT AROUND THE REFUELING NOZZLE AND SPILLS OUT ONTO THE CAR AND ALL OVER THE GROUND. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS SITUATION IN THAT AT LEAST HALF A GALLON OF FUEL THAT SPIILLS OUT THAT COULD IGNITE AND SPREAD TO THE FUEL TANK AND CAUSE AN EXPLOSION. FORTUNEATELY IT IS WINTER NOW, BUT IN THE SUMMER THE CHANCES OF FIRE AND EXPLOSION ARE MORE LIKELY. THE CAR IS A NEW MODEL FOR DODGE AND I THINK THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED IMMEDIALTEY. I PLAN ON CONTACTING THE DODGE TO IDENTIFY THE PROPLEM WITH THEM. I'M SURE THEY WILL NOT SHARE WITH ME IF OTHER DURANGO OWNERS ARE HAVING A SIMILAR PROBLEM.*AK
LETTER FORWARDED FOR POSSIBLE FOLLOW UP REGARDING CONSUMER CASE AGAINST CHRYSLER MOTORS. *TGW TWO RECALLS WERE ISSUED AND THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN EITHER. THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE WAS BUILT IN JULY 2005, WELL AFTER THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED IN PRODUCTION. RECALL NUMBERS 09V003000 AND 05V034000. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED DODGE, BUT WAS TOLD HIS VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER FELL OUT OF DEFECT RANGE. *JB
