2005 DODGE DURANGO. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO THE FUEL TANK INLET VALVE RECALL NOTICE ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAS BEEN TRYING FOR MORE THAN 18 MONTHS TO GET CHRYSLER TO HONOR THE RECALL. TO DATE, WITH NO SUCCESS. RIGHT AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE CONSUMER BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH GAS SPILLING OUT OF THE TANK AS IT WAS BEING FILLED. THE PROBLEM SUBSEQUENTLY RETURNED AND THE DEALER GAVE HIM COSMETIC EXPLANATIONS. AFTER THE VEHICLE, NEARLY CAUGHT ON FIRE, IT PROMPTED THE CONSUMER TO INVESTIGATE AND HE SOON DISCOVERED A RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM HE EXPERIENCED. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE SUN ROOF WAS MAKING A NOISE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE SUN ROOF. AFTER REPLACEMENT RAIN LEAKED IN THROUGH THE SUNROOF ASSEMBLY AND FLOODED THE VEHICLE. THE SUN ROOF WAS REPLACED AGAIN AND THE NOISE RETURNED. ADDITIONALLY, THE SEAT BELT LIGHT CAME ON WHILE THE SEAT BELT WAS IN USE. THE DEALERSHIP DISCONNECTED THE SENSOR, AND ORDERED REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR THE ENTIRE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY. THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON WITH NO WARNING. THE DEALERSHIP ORDERED PARTS FOR REPAIR OF THE AIR BAG. *AK
WHEN FILLING VEHICLE WITH GAS THE PUMP STOPS WHEN FULL AND GASOLINE SPILLS OUT OF THE FILL PIPE ONTO THE VEHICLE AND PAVEMENT, CREATING A FIRE HAZARD AND AN UNNECESSARY WASTE OF GASOLINE AND EXPOSURE TO HARMFUL FUMES AND LIQUID.*AK
ENGINE STALLS AT FREEWAY/HIGHWAY SPEEDS CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL - NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL FAILURES - TRANSMISSION - A/C BLOWS BOTH COLD & HOT AIR AT SAME TIME - POWER SWITCHES GETTING HOT TO TOUCH - REPAIRING DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX - EACH TIME IT IS WORKED ON - PROBLEMS MULTIPLY AFTER THEY FLASH/REPROGRAMMED PCM/COMPUTER
WHILE DRIVING IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC ON SUNDAY JULY 17, 2005, MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO (~1700 MILES) ENGINE SHUT OFF. I PLACED THE CAR IN NEUTRAL (I WAS STILL ROLLING) AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHIUCLE AND RESTART THE ENGINE. I TOOK THE CAR INTO A 5-STAR DEALERSHIP (WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED FROM) AND THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR 2 DAYS. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CONCLUSION WAS THAT THEY COULD FIND NO TROUBLE. I HAVE SEEN SIMILAR FAILURES WITH THIS VEHICLE ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE, SO I FEEL CONFIDENT THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED CASE.
DT: 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE DEALERSHIP CASE NUMBER IS: 4607005. WHEN THE CONSUMER SET THE CRUISE CONTROL AND WAS GOING DOWN A HILL, THE VEHICLE WILL GAIN ABOUT 15 MPH AND THE CONSUMER WOULD HAVE TO STEP ON THE BRAKE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY SENT THE INFORMATION TO THE MANUFACTURER, THE DEALER TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR A TEST DRIVE AND THE MANUFACTURER SAID THAT IT WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY. SO THEY SAID APPLY THE BRAKES WHEN NECESSARY. THE LOCAL DEALER/CHIEF MECHANIC SAID THAT THIS SHOULD NOT BE LIKE THIS. *JB *SC
HAD DRIVEN 05 DURANGO ABOUT 5 MILES. WHEN BRAKING TO ENTER THE DRIVEWAY AT HOME, VEHICLE ENGINE SHUT OFF. NO POWER AT ALL. VEHICLE HAS 4513 MILES WITH A 5.7L HEMI.
FOUR TIMES BETWEEN THE MONTHS OF FEBRUARY AND JULY 2005 MY VEHICLE HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS. ALSO, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START DAILY EACH MORNING FOR A PERIOD OF TWO WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WOULD BE JUMP STARTED AND RUN CORRECTLY DURING THE DAY, HOWEVER, WHEN LEFT OVERNIGHT, THE BATTERY WOULD BE DEAD. THE DEALER COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ANSWER FOR THE STALLING. REGARDING THE ELECTRICAL, THEY TESTED THE DRAW AND HELD THE VEHICLE FOR TWO WEEKS. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS, THEY INDICATED THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL DEVICE BEHIND THE DASH BOARD. THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED, HOWEVER, THE STALLING CONTINUES.
ON JULY 8, 2005 AT 6:30 AM, I OPENED MY CAR DOOR TO GO TO WORK AND THERE HAD BEEN AFIRE INSIDE THE CAR DURING THE NIGHT, CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE INTERIOR. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY STATE FARM APPROVED REPAIR CENTER. AFTER REPAIRS WERE STARTED, THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS DETERMINED BY THE REPAIR SHOP TO BE A WIRE UNDER THE SEAT THAT WAS FOR ELECTRIC SEATS WHICH IS NOT AN OPTION IN MY CAR. DODGE WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY SAID TO STOP REPAIRS UNTIL THEY SENT AN INSPECTOR TO LOOK AT CAR. HE CAME THE FOLLOWING WEEK AND DETERMINED DODGE WAS NOT AT FAULT AND SEALED THE FILE AND WAS TOLD TO RETAIN A LAWYER IF I WANTED TO FIND OUT WHY, OTHERWISE TOO BAD. I FOUND A RECALL ON 2001 DODGE RAMS THAT WAS FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM AND 2 REPORTED SUCH FIRES IN 2001 DURANGOS. MY CASE IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND DODGE REFUSES TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE NHTSA ID IS 01V253000. OBVIOUSLY DODGE DID NOTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND HAS NOT RECALLED THE 2002 DODGES. PLEASE HELP ME. VALERIE DAVIS. *NM
I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE WAY THE VEHICLE IS ENGINEERED THERE ARE SERIOUS BLIND SPOTS. THIS IS OBSERVED WHEN THE DRIVE LOOKS TO HIS RIGHT. THE PASSENGER SIDE "B" PILLAR IS IN THEIR DIRECT VIEW. THE WAY THE FRONT COCKPIT IS DESIGNED YOU CAN'T SEE OVERHEAD STREET LIGHTS WHILE STOPPED OR APPROACHING A STOP BAR. THERE ARE ALSO BLIND SPOTS TO THE PASSENGER SIDE AND REAR AND DRIVER'S SIDE REAR OF THE DRIVER. *NM
I BOUGHT A 2005 DODGE DURANGO A WEEK AGO AND IT HAS STALLED OUT 2 TIMES.
MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO MFG DATE 9/04 WAS NOT PART OF THE E01 RECALL AND HAS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH FUEL 'WELL BACK". *TR
DT: THE CONTACT STATED VEHICLE STALLED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TWICE TO A CERTIFIED DEALERSHIP. DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS DONE. HOWEVER, NO CODES WERE CAPTURED. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE SOFTWARE TWICE. THIS HAS NOT SOLVED THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE IS IN THE DEALERSHIP AWAITING ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE UPDATES. *AK
ON 4 SEPERATE OCCASIONS VEHICLE ENGINE HAS STALLED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. MOST RECENT EVENT OCCURED ON TOLL BRIDGE NEARLY CAUSING ACCIDENT/LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE.
DT: THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING IT HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING. CAR HAD BEEN DRIVEN FOR ABOUT ONE MINUTE THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY MOVING ABOUT 5 MPH OR LESS. THE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN PARK AND RESTARTED JUST FINE. A MONTH LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED AT A STOP SIGN, THIS TIME THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE SITTING AT STOP. THERE WAS NO WARNING THIS TIME EITHER. OWNER DOESNT REMEMBER IF THE ELECTRIC IN VEHICLE WAS OFF OR NOT. THIS TIME THE VEHICLE STARTED RIGHT BACK AGAIN. THEN OWNER CONTACTED DEALERSHIP, THERE IS NOTHING THE DEALER CAN DO ABOUT IT BECUASE NO INFO IN THE SYSTEM ABOUT IT. THE DEALERSHIP NEEDED THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO INSPECT, THEN THE OWNERS COULDNT TAKE TO DEALER AT THAT TIME BECAUSE THEY NEEDED THE VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN WITH SHUTTING OFF SEVERAL TIMES. THEN ON JUNE 2, AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUTT OFF AGAIN. THIS TIME THE VEHICLE STARTED BACK UP AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER. THE DEALER REPORTED NO PROBLEM, THE DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER SHOWED NO ERROR CODES. THEN STALLED AGAIN THE 24TH OF JUNE. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 45 THIS TIME, AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AGAIN LATER THAT DAY, THE VEHICLE WERE ON, AIR CONDITIONING, ALL SHUT OFF. THE DASH LIGHTS WENT OUT. THERE WAS NO ELECTRICITY IN THE VEHICLE EXCEPT FOR THE TAIL AND HEAD LIGHTS, AND THE VEHICLE HAD NO BRAKE LIGHTS, AND THIS WAS DANGEROURS BECUASE THIS TIME THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AT NIGHT. THE VEHICLE STARTED AGAIN AND WAS DRIVEN FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP. THEN VEHICLE WAS TOWED HOME.
MY HUSBANDS 2005 DODGE DURANGO 5.7 HEMI, PURCHASED IN MAY, STALLED THREE TIMES ALREADY. THE FIRST TWO TIMES IT STALLED HE WAS TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT. IT HAPPENED AT 1,281 MILES. WE TOOK THE CAR IN AND THEY ROAD TESTED THE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY RECOMMENDED FURTHER DIAGNOSIS IF CONDITION PERSIST. WELL IT HAS, MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE IT WAS SNOWING WHEN HIS WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING CAUSING HIM TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. WHEN HE GOT BACK INTO THE CAR TO DRIVE, THE DURANGO STALLED AGAIN!! IT ONLY HAS 8,000 MILES ON IT. THE DEALER HAS IT AND THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IS GOING ON. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT OR WORSE DIE BECAUSE OF THIS STALLING CONDITION. *JB
THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES FOR STALLING PROBLEMS , RECENTLY BROUGHT IN AGAIN ON 06-20-05 FOR STALLING , VEHICLE IS HARD TO START THEN WILL STALL AFTER STARTING , ALSO STILL STALLS OUT IN TURNS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, MANUFACTURER STILL WON'T RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM AS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD

THE RPM GAUGE GOES UP THEN FALLS TO 0, AND CAR DIES. SERVICE DEALER STATED THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND SUGGESTED THAT THE CONSUMER USE A HIGHER OCTANE GAS. THEY ALSO SUGGESTED THAT VEHICLE MAY HAVE BAD GASOLINE, AND IT IS WORKING ITS WAY THROUGH THE SYSTEM. *AK *NM
THE NEW DODGE 2005 WITH THE HEMI ENGINE IS STALLING AT POINT OF ACCELERATION. MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE IN THE CAR AT A STOP LIGHT AND WHEN SHE WENT TO ACCELERATE THE CAR STALLED. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG...HAPPENED 7 MORE TIMES. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR A MONTH. SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE IF WE DON'T GET THIS RESOLVED. I WENT TO MYCARSTATS.COM AND FOUND MANY MORE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM! BRAND NEW DODGE DURANGOS 2005 CARS STALLING ON ON RAMPS, INTERSECTIONS AND ALL WE GET IS THAT THEY CANT FIND THE PROBLEM FROM THE DEALER AND CHRYSLER STATES THEY HAVEN'T HEARD OF ANY ISSUES. DT: CONTACT OWNED A 2005, DODGE, DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING OVER 40 MPH WITH THE BACK WINDOWS DOWN, THE DOORS AND THE WINDOWS SHOOK VIOLENTLY. HAD TO PUT THE BACK WINDOWS UP TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. CONTACT HAD FOUR PEOPLE FROM THE DEALERSHIP DRIVE THE VEHICLE, AND THEY NOTICED THE SAME THING. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY WERE THE FIRST ONE TO BRING THIS PROBLEM TO THEIR ATTENTION. THE CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD SAME PROBLEM. THE ONLY SOLUTION WAS TO CRACK THE FRONT WINDOWS.*AK
VEHICLE STALLS WHEN MAKING A SHARP TURN AT SLOW SPEEDS. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON AT LEAST 4 OCCASIONS USUALLY WHEN TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE OR MY DRIVEWAY. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND NO CODES WERE PRESENT FROM THE ONBOARD DIAGNOSTICS. THE DATE SHOWN IS THE MOST RECENT DATE OF THE OCCURRENCE, THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED SHORTLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. *JB
DT: THE AIRBAG LIGHT CONTINUED TO COME ON. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES. THERE HAVE BEEN NO CRASHES. THIS WAS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. REPAIRS WERE DONE ON THE IGNITION SWITCH AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THIS WAS THOUGHT TO BE RELATED TO THE REASON WHY THE AIR BAG LIGHT CONTINUED TO COME ON. THE AIR BAGS HAD NOT DEPLOYED. THE LIGHT FOR THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAG AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER FOR THIS PROBLEM. *AK UPDATED 12/27/05. *JB
MY 2005 DURANGO STALLS AT LOW SPEEDS, OFTEN WHILE DECELERATING (TURNS, PARKING ETC) AND IS CAUSING A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. ENGINE STALL CAUSES POWER FAILURE TO STEERING AND BRAKES AND HAS ALMOST CAUSE ACCIDENTS. THE CAR STARTS BACK UP RIGHT AWAY AFTER BEING PLACED IN PARK. GAS FILLER LINE EJECTS FUEL WHILE FILLING CAR. *TR
I PURCHASED A NEW 2005 DODGE DURAGNO LIMITED EDITION WITH THE HEMI 5.7 ENGINE ON 2/1/05. LAST WEEK, AROUND THE 3200 MILE MARK, I EXPERIENCED MY FIRST ENGINE STALL WHEN PULLING INTO A PARKING PLACE. NO LIGHTS OR OTHER INDICATORS COME ON TO WARN YOU THAT YOUR CAR IS ABOUT TO DIE! THE CAR STARTED UP AGAIN IMMEDIATELY AND RAN FINE FOR THE NEXT 3 DAYS. THREE DAYS LATER, I WAS DRIVING IN BUSY ATLANTA TRAFFIC TRYING TO TURN LEFT ACROSS TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC. I HAD PLENTY OF ROOM WHEN I BEGAN MY TURN, BUT THE ENGINE STALLED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY, DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION WITH NO STEERING ABILITY, AND I ALMOST GOT HIT BY SEVERAL CARS AND A LARGE TRUCK. THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STARTED BACK UP AGAIN. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY DODGE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID "HAVEN'T HEARD OF THAT BEFORE SO YOU'LL NEED TO BRING IT IN SO WE CAN RUN SOME DIAGNOSTICS". I PRINTED OFF SOME OF THE COMPLAINTS AT THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND TOOK THEM TO THE DEALER WITH ME. THE SERVICE ADVISOR PROCLAIMED, "THE INTERNET IS OUR WORST ENEMY, DON'T LISTEN TO THAT STUFF". WHICH TO ME MEANT, "DODGE DOESN'T WANT YOU TO HAVE ANY CLUE ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH YOUR CAR". I TOLD HIM THE INFORMATION CAME FROM THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND TOLD HIM OF THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS, BUT HE DIDN'T SEEM TO CARE. THREE HOURS LATER THE DEALER CALLED AND TOLD ME TO COME PICK UP MY DURANGO AND TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALER. HIS DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE WAS BROKEN AND HE HAD NO IDEA WHEN IT MIGHT BE FIXED! I TOLD HIM TO TAKE IT TO THE OTHER DODGE DEALER. STILL WAITING TO FIND OUT WHAT THEY MAY OR MAY NOT DO. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED AT THE LACK OF EXCITEMENT ON THE PART OF DODGE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING MY CAR. I AM SINGLE, HAVE NO FAMILY IN THIS TOWN TO HAUL ME AROUND OR BORROW A VEHICLE FROM, AND DODGE DOESN'T CARE. I AM NOT VERY HAPPY ABOUT HAVING TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE BASED ON THE ACCIDENT I WAS ALMOST IN A FEW DAYS AGO. I GUESS SOME PEOPLE WILL HAVE TO DIE BEFORE SOMENOE DOES SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.
EVER SINCE I PURCHASED MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO IN MAY, 2005, I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO COMPLETELY FILL THE GAS TANK. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO FILL THE TANK, THE GAS GETS BACKED UP IN THE STEM TO THE TANK, AND IT SHUTS OFF THE GAS PUMP. THIS MAKES IT VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL WHEN THE GAS TANK IS TRULY FULL OR IF IT IS JUST BACKED UP IN THE FILLER STEM TO THE TANK. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IT, AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS AN "E-VAMP" LEAK IN THE TANK. THIS WAS FIXED AND I WAS TOLD THE TANK WAS ALSO FIXED AND READY FOR NORMAL FILLING. AS SOON AS I LEFT THE DEALER, I TRIED TO FILL THE TANK, BUT IT WAS NOT FIXED. I IMMEDIATELY INFORMED THE SERVICE PERSON, WHO WAS STILL THERE. I AGAIN BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE, AND THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED. (AFTER BRINGING THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN FOR A RIDE TO THE GAS PUMP SO HE COULD SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS.) THE VEHICLE WAS GIVEN BACK TO ME WITH A NEW FUEL TANK, AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *JB
(1) NORMAL DRIVING ON I-4 ABOUT 75 MPH (2) WANTED TO ACCELERATE AND THE RPMS WOULD NOT GO PAST 3000. I TRIED SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GO FASTER AS IT USUALLY DOES GO WELL BEYOND 3000 BUT NO AVAIL. I EVEN PUT IT IN NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING AND THE SAME THING OCCURED. (3) I PLACED THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL TURNED IGNITION OFF THEN ON, PROBLEM SOLVED AND HAS NOT OCCURED SINCE THEN AT THE TIME I HAD ABOUT 2100 MILES ON THE TRUCK. ON 5/21/05 MY 2005 DURANGO WITH 5.7L ENGINE STALLED WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN INTO A PARKING LOT. LACK OF POWER STEERING MADE DRIVING DIFFICULT. I RESTARTED THE CAR, TURNED INTO A PARKING SPOT AND THE ENGINE QUIT ONCE AGAIN.
I BOUGHT MY 05 DURANGO BACK IN MAY OF 05 AND I'VE HAD TO DEAL WITH ALL THREE OF THE MAJOR COMPLAINTS, THE FUEL SPEWING OUT, THE STALLING, AND THE 4X4 ACTIVATING! THE FUEL THING I ALWAYS NOTICED BUT ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS SOMETHING THAT JUST HAPPENED. THE 4X4 ENGAGING HAPPENED WHEN IT STILL HAD THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO GET IT REPAIRED. THE GOOD THING IS THAT THEY FIXED IT, THE BAD THING IS THAT IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY! THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY REPLACED THE 4X4 CONTROL MODULE AND I HAVEN'T HAD A PROBLEM SINCE THEN! I'M NOT POSITIVE IF THAT'S THE NAME OF THE MODULE. THIS WAS BACK IN 2008 AND I HAVEN'T HAD THAT PROBLEM SINCE THEN. HOPEFULLY THAT HELPS SOME THAT ARE DEALING WITH THAT SAME ISSUE! THE STALLING HAPPENS HERE AND THERE, NOT TOO OFTEN AND USUALLY WHEN I'M AT A STOP SIGN. I LOVE MY DURANGO, JUST HATE THE WAY DODGE IS JUST LEAVING ALL ITS CUSTOMERS ON THEIR OWN WHEN THERE SHOULD BE RECALLS FOR ALL THESE ISSUES!! I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO APPROXIMATELY 5000 MILES. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL OCCASIONS (SIX INCIDENTS) WHERE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND I HAD PROBLEMS ACCELERATING, THE ACCELERATOR WAS REVVING UP AND I COULD NOT GO FASTER THAN 20 MPH. I FELT AS THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT, THE RPM GAUGE WOULD NOT GO PAST 1. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, I WAS GOING ON THE FREEWAY 65MPH, AND THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AGAIN, THIS TIME MY CAR SLOWED DOWN TO 40MPH AND I COULD NOT PICKUP SPEED, I PANICKED BECAUSE I WAS ON THE FREEWAY WITH MY KIDS AND I WAS AFRAID SOMEONE WAS GOING TO HIT ME FROM BEHIND. I IMMEDIATELY EXITED THE FREEWAY AND TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE CAR WAS DRIVEN BY A SERVICE TECH AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIM. WHEN HE PUT IT ON THE COMPUTER NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN. SO I GOT MY CAR BACK, ON THE 2ND DAY AFTER THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AGAIN. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AGAIN THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. THE SERVICE DEPT WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE NOTHING SHOWED UP ON THE COMPUTER. WE CONTACTED DAIMLER CHRYSLER AND THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER FOR THE 3RD TIME. THEY SAID IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN AN ELECTRICAL COMPONENT OR THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE TIGHTENED (WHATEVER THAT MEANS) THEY DROVE IT FOR A WEEK AND THEY STATED NOTHING HAPPENED WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING IT. THEY SAID THAT "THE COMPUTER ADJUST TO EACH DRIVER DIFFERENTLY AND BECAUSE I MAY BE A SLOW ACCELERATOR (MEANING I GENTLY TOUCH THE GAS PEDAL THAT MAYBE THIS WAS HAPPENING TO ME" I STATED THAT THIS INCIDENT HAD NOT ONLY HAPPENED TO ME, BUT MY HUSBAND AS WELL. I GOT THE VEHICLE THINKING MAYBE IT WOULD BE FINE, BUT YESTERDAY AS I WAS DRIVING MY KIDS THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AGAIN, AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 20MPH ON A 45MPH LANE. THE ENGINE WAS REVVING UP AS THOUGH I HAD THE CAR ON NEUTRAL AND IT WOULD NOT MOVE. 2005 DODGE HEMI DURANGO HAS ON 5 SEPARATE OCCASSIONS STALLED WHILE AT IDLE OR VERY LOW SPEED. VEHICLE CAN BE IMMEDIATELY RESTARTED. I AM THANKFUL ALL EPISODES HAVE BEEN AT LOW SPEEDS. DEALER CLAIMED THEY WERE UNAWARE OF THIS PROBLEM.
THE VEHICLE IS MAKING POPPING NOISE WHEN TURNING. MY HUSBAND & I PURCHASED A 2005 DODGE DURANGO WITH A HEMI ABOUT A MONTH AGO. ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO (MAY 11, 2005), I PUT THE DURANGO IN REVERSE (I WAS IN A STOP POSITION), AND THE ENGINE JUST DIED OUT. I PUT IT IN PARK AND STARTED THE ENGINE AGAIN. I DROVE TO MY MOM'S TO PICK HER UP. AGAIN I WAS IN A STOP POSITION, PUT THE DURANGO IN REVERSE, AND THE ENGINE DIED OUT AGAIN. AFTER I DROPPED OFF MY MOM, I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE DURANGO TO THE DEALER. THEY KEPT IT THERE AND TESTED IT FOR SEVERAL HOURS. NOTHING HAPPENED. THEY COULD NOT VERIFY MY COMPLAINT. THEY DID TELL ME, HOWEVER, THAT THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE RE-PROGRAMED. THIS PAST SATURDAY, MY HUSBAND & I DROVE THE DURANGO TO KONA FOR THE DAY. WHILE DRIVING UP A RAMP AT ONE OF THE HOTELS, THE ENGINE DIED OUT AGAIN! FIRST THING MONDAY MORNING (5/23/2005), I CALLED THE DEALER'S SERVICE DEPT. AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. (I SPOKE TO SHERRI) THEY CHECKED WITH THEIR SERVICE MANAGER, WHO ALONG WITH THE MECHANIC, CALLED STAR. THEY TOLD THEM TO INSALL A "CO-PILOT". THEY (THE MANAGER, SERVICE ADVISOR AND THE MECHANIC, ALONG WITH MYSELF) DO NOT THINK THAT MAKES ANY SENSE. THE DURANGO JUST DIES OUT, AND THE CO-PILOT WOULD ONLY MAKE SENSE IF MYSELF OR MY HUSBAND HAD THE TIME TO PRESS THE BUTTON BEFORE THE TRUCK DIED OUT. IN THIS CASE, THE TRUCK JUST DIES OUT, SO WE DON'T HAVE THE TIME TO PRESS THE BUTTON FIRST. I'M AFRAID THAT THE TRUCK WILL DIE OUT WHILE DRIVING AND WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
I HAVE AN 05 HEMI DURANGO LIMITED WITH 3,300 MILES ON IT. SINCE NEW THE VEHICLE HAS OCCASSIONALLY DIED WHEN MAKING LOW SPEED TURNS. THE DEALER HAS INFORMED ME THAT THE PCM FLASH PROVIDED BY DODGE HAS NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM AND THEY ARE STILL WORKING ON A FIX. OVERALL THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED FIVE TIMES. I HAVE ALSO FILED A SIMILAR COMPLAINT FOR MY 05 RAM 2500 WITH THE HEMI ENGINE.

ON MARCH 14, 2005 I PURCHASED A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. TO DATE THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 4 TIMES. THE FIRST TIME IT TORE UP I WAS GETTING ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS TO ACCELL THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SHOP AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE COMPUTER LOST IT'S MIND AND HAD TO BE RESET. THE SECOND TIME IT DID THE SAME THING ONLY THIS TIME THE SHOP COULD NOT FIND ANY THING WRONG. THE THIRD TIME IT DONE THIS I WAS SETTING AT A RED LIGHT AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT GO OVER 15 MPH. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SHOP AND REPAIRED IT. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE NUMBER 4 FUEL INJECTION. THE LAST TIME IT TORE UP WAS THIS PAST WEEKEND. I HAD ALL 5 OF MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I WAS ATTEMPTING TO GET ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. I WAS FORCED INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND ALMOST HIT BY A TRACTOR TRAILER. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM. THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME TO CONTACT CHRYSLER. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM.

WE PURCHASED A 2005 DODGE DURANGO HEMI IN APRIL OF 2005. SINCE THEN THE ENGINE HAS STALLED IN A VARIETY OF SITUATIONS AT LEAST 15 TIMES. WE HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALER ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS AND THEY SAY THEY CANNOT DIAGNOSE OR FIX THE PROBLEM IF THEY CAN'T EITHER DUPLICATE IT (THEY COULDN'T) OR FIND A FAULT CODE (THEY DIDN'T). NOW THEY WANT ME TO LEAVE IT FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD, WHICH ISN'T POSSIBLE. THE MOST COMMON TIME FOR IT TO STALL IS TURNING AT SLOWER SPEEDS, THOUGH IT HAS STALLED AT IDLE AS WELL (I.E. STOPPING AT A STOP LIGHT, COASTING). THE TWO WORSE TIMES FOR ME WERE TURNING LEFT ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND NEARLY GETTING SLAMMED BY A SCHOOL BUS, AND ANOTHER TIME NEAR THE SAME SCHOOL WHERE THE ENGINE STALLED AS I ROLLED AT 20 MPH AND DIDN'T REALIZE IT UNTIL I ALMOST RAN UP ON A SIDEWALK WITH KIDS GOING TO SCHOOL. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE TRUTH. OTHER TIMES HAVEN'T CAUSED IMMEDIATE DANGER BUT THE NEXT TIME COULD BE MUCH MORE SERIOUS. SOMEONE WILL BE HURT OR WORSE IF CHRYSLER DOESN'T DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!!!
