Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2009-2013 Jeep Wrangler, Chrysler 300, Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger vehicles, and 2009-2011 Dodge Dakota vehicles sold, or ever registered, in the states of Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), and the U.S. Virgin Islands or "Zone A." Additionally, Chrysler is recalling certain 2009-2010 RAM 4500 Cab Chassis, RAM 5500 Cab Chassis, RAM 3500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Wrangler, Chrysler 300, Dodge Dakota, Dodge Challenger, and Dodge Charger vehicles ever registered in the states of Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia or "Zone B." Chrysler is also recalling certain 2009 RAM 3500, RAM 2500, RAM 4500 Cab Chassis, RAM 5500 Cab Chassis, Dodge Durango, Chrysler Aspen, RAM 3500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Wrangler, Chrysler 300, Dodge Dakota, Dodge Challenger, and Dodge Charger vehicles ever registered in the states of Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger frontal air bag, these passenger air bag inflator may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling.
Remedy Status
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the recall repair is complete. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began February 28, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U03.
Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 Ram 1500 trucks manufactured from February 27, 2008, through June 30, 2009, and from December 1, 2009, through October 20, 2011; model year 2009-2011 Dodge Dakota trucks manufactured from February 27, 2007, through June 30, 2009, and from December 1, 2009, through September 30, 2011; model year 2009 Chrysler Aspen trucks manufactured from January 3, 2008, through December 18, 2008; and model year 2009 Dodge Durango trucks manufactured from January 3, 2008, through December 18, 2008. The rear axle pinion nut may loosen due to an undersized pinion spline that can allow relative motion between the nut and companion flange.
Remedy Status
On November 7, 2013 Chrysler notified owners that dealers would install a pinion nut retainer, free of charge. In July 2015, and under a consent order with NHTSA, the company agreed to offer owners three options for remedying their vehicles: perform the original remedy, offer to repurchase the vehicle at the fair market value plus 10%, or offer an additional incentive offer towards the purchase of a new Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, or Fiat vehicle. Chrysler will notify owners of the new recall options in a letter expected to be mailed on August 31, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753. Chrysler's recall campaign number is N08.
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2009 Dodge Durango and Chrysler Aspen vehicles manufactured January 17, 2007, to December 18, 2008, and 2010 RAM 3500 cab chassis manufactured September 25, 2009, to February 1, 2010. The affected vehicles are equipped with a dual-stage driver frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture.
Remedy Status
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the recall repair is complete. Chrysler has notified owners, and dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began January 11, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S92. BRAKE BOOSTER WHEN THE WEATHER IS COLD, THERE IS A LOUD CLICK AT THE BRAKE PEDAL, FOLLOWED BY AN AIR PUMP SKINS AT THE FIREWALL WHEN CAR COMES TO A STOP. SOMETIMES THE BRAKE USE IS DEFINITELY REDUCED.
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A RECALL ON MY DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG. BEFORE THEY STARTED TO DO THE WORK THEY SAID THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO MY CAR BECAUSE IT WAS AN OLDER MODEL. I AM VERY UPSET THAT I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SAFETY REASONS AND THEY COULD DAMAGE MY CAR IN THE PROCESS! HOW UNFAIR ON THE PART OF THE CONSUMER TO MAKE THEM PAY FOR POSSIBLE DAMAGE WHEN THEY ARE TAKING THEIR CAR IN FOR SAFETY REASONS! AND DODGE DOESN'T BELIEVE IN THE INTEGRITY OF THEIR OWN PRODUCT AT THE SAME TIME! THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE NHTSA!

HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIRS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR RECALL REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE FUEL TANK WOULD NOT FILL UP PROPERLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT TOOK 45 MINUTES FOR THE FUEL TANK TO BECOME FILLED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING A SCREEN INSIDE THE FUEL TANK THAT WAS FILLED WITH PARTICLES, WHICH BLOCKED THE FUEL FROM ENTERING THE TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000. UPDATED 09/29/16*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE GAS TANK RUSTED, DUE TO THE GAS LEAK. UPDATED 10/04/16. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DEVELOPED AN OIL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER FAILED. THE MECHANIC TRIED TO ORDER THE PART, BUT IT WAS ON BACK ORDER BECAUSE THIS HAD BEEN A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD SEND THE PART ONCE IT BECAME AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,527.
MY 2009 DODGE DURANGO 4WD V8-5.7L HYBRID IS LURCHING AND THUMPING DURING BREAKING AT LOW SPEEDS. A CERTIFIED MECHANIC DETERMINED THE ISSUE IS THE "REAR AXLE PINION NUT". THE MECHANIC ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THIS PART IS UNDER RECALL ON MY MODEL AUTOMOBILE (N08130925-051). A CALL TO CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE REVEALED THAT MY VEHICLE HAS AN 8.25 REAR AXLE AND THE RECALL IS ONLY ON VEHICLES WITH A 9.25 REAR AXLE. THE REPRESENTATIVE AT CHRYSLER SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO HELP ME. I FIND IT INCREDIBLY UNREASONABLE TO HAVE RECALLED THIS VEHICLE MODEL WITH THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM ON A DIFFERENT SIZE AXLE AND NOT ALSO FIX THE RECALLED PROBLEM ON MY VEHICLE. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER SENT AN INDEPENDENT INSPECTOR TO PERFORM A BRIEF INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE. THE INSPECTOR STATED THAT THE FIRE UNDOUBTEDLY ORIGINATED FROM THE DRIVER'S SEAT MOTOR CONTROL SWITCH, WHICH MOVES THE SEAT. THE CHRYSLER ENGINEERS REVIEWED THE INSPECTOR'S REPORT AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE YEAR OF THE VEHICLE AND THE NUMBER OF YEARS THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000.

I READ COMPLAINTS ALL OVER NOBODY OR NOTHING TAKES CARE OF IT SHE ALSO HAD AN ACCIDENT WITH THE TRUCK BECAUSE AT STOP LIGHT SHE SAID THE TRUCK IDLE RACED TO FOUR THOUSAND RPM AND TOOK OF ON ITS OWN HIT FIVE CARS BEFORE IT STOPED. DURING THE FIRST EPISODE/EVENT, SUDDENLY, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTS BEGAN TO FLASH ON AND OFF, THE WARNING CHIMES SOUNDED, THE ILLUMINATION FOR THE RADIO AND OTHER SIMILAR COMPONENTS BEGAN TO FLASH ON AND OFF. WHEN I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, THERE WAS A PERSISTENT LOUD CLICKING NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD, AS WELL AS VARIOUS INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTS CONTINUED TO FLASH EVEN WITH THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT AN ELECTRICAL JUNCTION BOX UNDER THE DASH HAD 'CORRODED', AND IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THEY ALSO ADVISED THAT THIS WAS DUE TO WATER FROM FOLLOWING A WIRE LEADING FROM THE ROOF. THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A SUN/MOON ROOF. THE COST, PARTS AND LABOR, WERE OVER $ 800.00. IN JANUARY 2013, THE SAME SYMPTOMS RETURNED. THIS TIME AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AT ALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER AND THE SAME PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED. THIS TIME I WAS TOLD IT WAS CAUSED BY THE "WATER FROM MY BOOTS." THE FACT THAT THIS JUNCTION BOX IS ABOVE THE FLOOR LINE MAKES THAT EXPLANATION IMPLAUSIBLE. THE COST TO REPLACE PARTS AND LABOR, $ 775.00. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE DURANGO HYBRID. THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE ON AND ONCE THEY PUT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE INSTRUCTIONS STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE SHIFTED INTO DRIVE WITHOUT THE BRAKES BEING PRESSED. THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT ALSO WAS ONLY ABLE TO CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MINIMAL ABILITY. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT CRASHED INTO THE GARAGE. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE INSPECTED BY AN ENGINEER, BUT THAT HAD NOT HAPPENED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 50,000.

WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK WITH FUEL THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH GAS SHOOTING OUT OF THE FILLER NECK WHEN TANK IS NEARLY FULL. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE DUE TO GAS SPILLING OUT ONTO THE GROUND POSSIBLY CAUSING A FIRE HAZARD. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL UP THE GAS TANK.
