THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
ON OCTOBER 2,2012 I PURCHASED A DODGE DURANGO WITH LESS THAN 100 MILES.. I HAVE ALWAYS KEPT UP WITH SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. I'M STILL SEARCHING FOR ALL MY PAPERWORK.. I FOUND PAPERWORK WHERE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AT 81,552 -02/21/15--12/31/15--10/14/17--10/14/17---10/17/17--04/02/18.. I HAVE SPENT OVER $3,000 DOLLARS TO REPAIR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NOW IM TOLD THAT THIS VEHICLE THAT I HAVE PAID APPROXIMATELY OVER $40,000 NOT INCLUDING ALL THE REPAIRS WILL NOT BE FIXED AND PERHAPS I NEED TO TRADE IT IN FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE.. I AM EXTREMELY OUTRAGED WITH THIS COMPANY AND FEEL I HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF. THIS VEHICLE HAD AND HAS A LOT OF RECALLS ALL WHICH I HAVE KEPT UP ON AND STILL IM NOT ABLE TO ENJOY MY VEHICLE..I DONT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ANYMORE.. ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND EVEN AFTER ALL THE MONEY INVESTED IM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS..I HAVE ALL THE DOCUMENTS RELATING TO THIS ENGINE PROBLEM. I WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER.. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS A BURNING ODOR AND THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. WHEN THE IGNITION WAS TURNED TO THE ON POSITION, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL SMELL OF BURNING PLASTIC AND THICK SMOKE APPEARED FROM THE VANITY LAMP AND ENTERED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TOWED DUE TO THE DANGER OF THE VEHICLE ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V879000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, INTERIOR LIGHTING). THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V530000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.

THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE GEAR INTO PARK AND THEN BACK INTO DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START PROPERLY WHEN THE KEY WAS INSERTED INTO THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY START AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CONTACT HAD RECEIVED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V115000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND STATED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE DEALER WAS UNCERTAIN WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE UNDER THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
MY WIFE AND MOTHER-IN-LAW WHERE LEAVING THE HOUSE WHEN MY WIFE WENT TO USE THE BRAKES SHE HAD TO PRESS WITH TWO FEET TO GET THE BRAKES TO STOP THE CAR. SHE REPORTED HEARING AIR WHEN SHE DEPRESSED THE BRAKES. I SENT THE CAR TO DARCARS IN SILVER SPRING MD FOR THE RECALL AND I TOLD THEM WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THEY TOLD ME THE PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR WHEN THEY TRIED IT AND DID THE BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL ON FEBRUARY 3RD. ON FEBRUARY 13 LEAVING THE HOUSE FOR WORK THE BRAKES WERE VERY HARD TO WORK TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAD GONE OUT AGAIN. BOTH TIMES WERE WHEN THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS WELL BELOW FREEZING. I AM DROPPING IT OFF TODAY AGAIN, MY PROBLEM IS IF THE BRAKES DON'T FAIL THEY WILL TRY TO GIVE THE CAR BACK TO ME AND FROM BEING TOLD IT HAD ALREADY HAD HAPPENED I WOULD THINK THEY WOULD KNOW THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAS BEEN DAMAGED AND WOULD HAVE CHANGED IT OUT INSTEAD OF PUTTING MYSELF AND FAMILY BACK INTO A CAR THAT IS NOT SAFE TO BE ON THE ROAD. *TR

OUR DODGE DURANGO 2012 WAS PURCHASED IN JANUARY 2015 FROM RICK KEEFER DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM IN YULEE, FLORIDA. TWO WEEKS LATER THE ENGINE LIGHT LIGHTS UP AND THE ENGINE IS SPUTTERING. RETURNED THE CAR TO DEALER WHOM REPAIRED VEHICLE AND SAID IT WAS THE OXYGEN SENSOR AND REPLACED. AGAIN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE RAN ROUGH. RETURNED THE CAR TO DEALER WHOM REPAIRED AND SAID THEY REPLACED THE CONVERTER. SOON AGAIN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. FOUND FUEL CAP 'POPPED OFF' A FEW TIMES, ENGINE LIGHT GOES OUT THEN ON AGAIN. RETURNED TO DEALER WHOM REPLACED FUEL CAP. THERE WAS ALSO AN OIL LEAK FIXED. AGAIN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND OFF AND THE ENGINE WOULD RUN ROUGH. SMOKE WOULD POUR OUT THE TAILPIPE, ENGINE SPUTTERING, DROVE BACK FROM MOUNTAINS. RETURNED CAR TO DEALER. THEY REPLACED POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND OXYGEN SENSOR (AGAIN). AND AGAIN, LATE JUNE 2015, ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND ENGINE SPUTTERING. DEALER TAKES CAR. DEALER TELLS US THEY ARE GOING TO 'GO THROUGH IT' AND DRIVE VEHICLE ENTIRE TIME. WE RECEIVE RENTAL CAR. DEALER CALLS AFTER WEEK AND SAID VEHICLE IS READY FOR PICKUP BUT THEY ARE AWAITING A CONVERTER AND ARE GOING TO REPLACE OXYGEN SENSOR ALSO. VEHICLE MILEAGE LOGGED; VEHICLE WAS NEVER 'DRIVEN'. RENTAL CAR TIME WAS USED UP. RETURNED CAR TO DEALER WHEN PART WAS IN. DEALER REPLACED CONVERTER BUT NOT O2 SENSOR?? THEY SAID IT DIDN'T NEED IT. DROVE CAR ABOUT 10 MILES AND GOT OUT. A VERY STRONG SMELL OF BURNING PLASTIC IS COMING FROM CAR. DEALER NOT RETURNING CALL. WILL BE RETURNING TO DEALER MONDAY JULY20, 2015. STILL DRIVING WITH STRONG PLASTIC BURN SMELL. LIFTED HOOD. WIRING HARNESS ABOVE HEATER LINE AND CONVERTER(MANIFOLD) IS BURNING. ENTIRE RIGHT SIDE OF ENGINE IS UNBEARABLE HOT. SILVER METAL BOX IN FRONT OF FUSE PANEL IS SO HOT IT BURNS TO THE TOUCH. CAR READS NORMAL TEMPS? MOST PROBLEMS ON BLOG OCCUR IN HOT SUMMER MONTHS. COINCIDENCE?

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND AN ABNORMAL NOISE EMITTED FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,800.
ENGINE WOULD NOT CUT OFF AFTER PUSHING CUT OFF AND START BUTTON. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE HIGHWAY AT THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT. THERE WAS NOT ANOTHER VEHICLE WITHIN A MILE OF ME IN ANY DIRECTION. THERE WAS THIS LOUD BANG AND THEN THE SUNROOF SLIDER STARTED VIBRATING SOMETHING AWFUL. I HAD TO SLOW MY SPEED DRASTICALLY IN ORDER TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HOLD THE SLIDER SHUT UNTIL I GOT HOME. THE SUNROOF HAD LITERALLY EXPLODED AND THERE WERE SHARDS OF BROKEN GLASS SITTING ON TOP OF THE SLIDER. THE SOUND ALONE WAS SCARY, BUT THANK GOODNESS I DIDN'T HAVE THE SLIDER OPEN SINCE IT WAS COLD AND CLOUDY, OR I COULD HAVE GOTTEN INJURED BY THE EXPLOSION AND THE SHATTERED GLASS FLYING INTO THE INTERIOR OF MY VEHICLE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE SO THAT THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE. *TR
I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN FOR A PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES OR BRAKES AND THEY FOUND A LEAK. AT FIRST THEY QUOTED ME ON THE TRANSMISSION COOLER AND ALL OF THE HOSES. IT WAS AROUND $1,100. MY HUSBAND BROUGHT IT BACK AND COME TO FIND OUT IT WAS ONLY LEAKING FROM THE ACTUAL COOLER AND THE HOSES DID NOT NEED TO BE CHANGED. IT IS LEAKING WHERE THE TUBE IS SAUDERED TO THE END CAP ON THE TRANSMISSION COOLER. SHOULDN'T THIS BE A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND NOT COST ME OVER $900? THE CAR IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. I AM OVER THE 36,000 MILE MARK BUT THE CAR IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD AND THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. SHOULDN'T DODGE COVER FOR THIS REPAIR OR IT EVEN BE A RECALL SINCE IT'S FROM A DEFECT AND NOT ANY THING THAT HAS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING? *TR
STARTED MY TRUCK AND WHEN I WENT TO PUT IT INTO DRIVE UPON APPLYING THE BRAKE THE PEDAL WAS HARD AND WHEN I APPLIED PRESSURE THERE WAS A "HISSING" "AIR NOISE". I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE IT WAS JUST REALLY COLD OUT AND IT NEEDED TO WARM UP A BIT MORE, SO I PUMPED THE BRAKES AND IT SEEMED BETTER. DEFINITELY DIDN'T THINK THAT A TRUCK I HAVE HAD LESS THAN 3 YEARS WOULD HAVE ANY BRAKE ISSUES. WELL I WAS WRONG...WHEN GOING TO PULL OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, WHICH IS ON A MAIN ROAD, I WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKE AND THE CAR WASN'T STOPPING. QUICKLY THINKING I PUSHED ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND STOPPED MYSELF AND MY YOUNGER SON FROM ROLLING INTO TRAFFIC GOING WELL OVER 40MPH. IF I HAD NOT BEEN DOING UNDER 10MPH MY SON AND MYSELF WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED AND POSSIBLY DEAD. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY RECALL ON THIS TRUCK BUT APPARENTLY AFTER LOOKING UP BRAKE PROBLEMS ON THIS VEHICLE THERE WITHOUT A DOUBT IS AND I AM NOT THE FIRST PERSON TO HAVE THE BRAKES FAIL ON THEM. VERY SCARY AND NOW THAT MY HEART IS BACK IN MY CHEST, VERY MAD!
I BOUGHT MY 2012 DODGE DURANGO 3 WEEKS AND IT IS NOT STARTING PROPERLY. I USED THE KEYLESS REMOTE ENTRY AND STARTER BUT THE CAR WILL NOT START OR SOUNDS LIKE THE STARTER IS STUCK. I HAVE TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND TRY AGAIN. IT WILL NORMALLY TAKE 4-5 TRIES JUST TO GET THE CAR STARTED AND IT DEPENDS IF IT WILL CONTINUE TO RUN. I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THIS AND NOTICED MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS. *TR

THERE'S A CRAYON SMELL WITHIN MY VEHICLE THAT CAN BE OVERBEARING. I'VE READ OTHER FORUMS ABOUT THIS. I'VE READ IT CAN BE THE GLUE THAT'S USED IN MANUFACTURING. THE SMELL STILL HASN'T GONE AWAY.
MOST TIMES WHEN I GO TO START THE TRUCK IT WILL NOT START. IF IT DOES START IT DIES IMMEDIATELY. WHEN I TRY TO START IT AGAIN, THE STARTER SEEMS TO GET STUCK, SO I TURN THE KEY OFF AND HAVE TO TRY IT AGAIN. EVENTUALLY IT WILL START AND RUN NORMAL. JUST THIS MORNING, I WENT TO MOVE THE VEHICLE, AND IT HAD NO POWER. ONCE I HOOKED UP THE JUMPER CABLES I COULD HEAR A HUMMING NOISE, WHICH I ASSUME WOULD BE THE FUEL PUMP, AS I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT IT NOT TURNING OFF DUE TO THE TIPM. AFTER I STARTED IT AND LET IT RUN FOR A WHILE I SHUT IT OFF AND COULD STILL HERE THE FUEL PUMP. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PULL THE FUSE SO THAT MY BATTERY WILL NOT DIE DUE TO A DEFECTIVE PART. I JUST GOT THIS TRUCK A LITTLE OVER 2 MONTHS AGO AND HAVE HAD THE STARTING PROBLEM SINCE I'VE GOT IT. NOW I GOT THIS FUEL PUMP ISSUE. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF AND, AT THIS POINT, HAS CHOSE NOT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT. *TR

I'VE HAD AT LEAST TWO THINGS THE CHRYSLER SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS NOT ASSURED ME I NEEDED. A FRONT END ALIGNMENT DONE IN NJ AND A "BYPASS" FUEL PUMP ADDITION DONE AT LUSTINE?? I FEEL LIKE CAR HAD A HEART ATTACK BECAUSE OF A COMPUTER SENSOR ISSUE. NOW THEY SAY ITS SHAKING AND I NEED SPARK PLUGS AND THE DASH IS LIT UP BUT AFTER THE ADDITIONAL $3310..THEY ARE STILL NOT SURE WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT OR WHY IT SMELLS OF GAS EXCEPT GAS IS ON THE SPARK PLUGS AND SHOULDN'T BE AND NEW ONES WILL 'POSSIBLY' GET ME CLOSER TO FINDING OUT THE ISSUE(S) ON MY 2012 DURANGO. $325 NJ $476? THIS VEHICLE HAS 2 RECALLS ON IT. THE FIRST IS THE BRAKE BOOSTER. WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE PART WAS AVAILABLE AFTER CALLING THE DEALER IN FEBRUARY OF 2014. IT WAS FIXED DEC 29, 2014. IN DEC OF 2014, WE RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE FOR THE ALTERNATOR, AND WERE TOLD PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. ON DECEMBER 20TH, 2014, WE WERE LEAVING ON A FAMILY VACATION, LOADED AND READY TO GO WHEN THE VEHICLE FAILED. THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD AND WOULD NOT START. THE DEALER PICKED UP THE VEHICLE WHILE I LOADED MY FAMILY IN 2 DIFFERENT TRUCKS TO MAKE A 90 MILE DRIVE TO THE CRUISE TERMINAL WHERE WE PAID $55 TO PARK EACH TRUCK. I CAME BACK SUNDAY THE 28TH OF FEBRUARY AND THEY HAD NOT REPAIRED THE CAR, STATING THEY WANTED $90 LABOR TO REPLACE THE BATTERY AND $275 FOR A NEW BATTERY, WHICH WAS DAMAGED BY THE ALTERNATOR. AFTER HOURS OF CALLING, CHRYSLER FINALLY APPROVED A NEW BATTERY, BUT THE OLD ONE WAS PUT BACK IN AND CHARGED. DUE TO BEING OUT OF THE COUNTRY, I HAD TO USE E-MAIL TO MY MECHANIC TO GET THINGS AUTHORIZED. WE DID NOT GET A RENTAL FOR THE ENTIRE WEEK AND MY MOTHER-IN-LAW WAS LEFT HOME WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR THE WEEK(CHRISTMAS WEEK). THE ALTERNATOR THAT WAS PUT ON THE CAR IS STILL UNDER RECALL AND COULD FAIL AGAIN AND WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD NEED TO BRING IT BACK IN FOR A NEW ALTERNATOR AT A LATER DATE. THE NEW ALTERNATOR IS STARTING TO MAKE A HUMMING NOISE LIKE THE LAST ONE AND NEITHER CHRYSLER OR THE DEALER WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT BECAUSE IT IS STILL WORKING. MY WIFE WILL NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT IS FIXED DUE TO THE WARNING OF THE CAR DYING OR CATCHING FIRE AND HAVING OUR 3 YEAR OLD WITH HER IF IT HAPPENS.
