WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS PUSHED DOWN TO ACCELERATE THERE WAS A HIGH PITCHED WHIZZING SOUND THAT WAS ASSOCIATED WITH EVERY REV OF THE ENGINE. AFTER DRIVING APPROX. 8 MINUTES THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH PANEL. TOOK THE CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED. AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY, IT WAS DEEMED THE ALTERNATOR WAS BAD AND IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT. THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED THE NEXT DAY AND THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. DODGE CURRENTLY HAS A RECALL (P60) ON DURANGOS FROM THE SAME YEARS AS OURS. HOWEVER, DODGE SAYS MY ALTERNATOR DOES NOT FIT THE RECALL BECAUSE IT IS 180 AMP AND NOT 160 AMP. WHEN THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED, THERE WAS A BACKORDER ON THE ALTERNATOR THAT FITS MY DURANGO. I FOUND THIS IRONIC AND QUESTIONED WHY THERE WOULD BE A SHORTAGE OF ALTERNATORS IF THIS TYPE WASN'T EXPERIENCING FAILURES. MY ISSUE FITS THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS MANY OTHER DODGE OWNERS. I FEEL THE ALTERNATOR WAS BAD AND PERHAPS THIS IS JUST ONE OF MANY THAT DODGE ISN'T RECOGNIZING AT THIS TIME. THERE IS NO RECOURSE AS OF NOW THROUGH DODGE BUT I WANT TO MAKE SOMEONE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE TO PREVENT SOMEONE FROM DEALING WITH THE SAME ISSUE. IF WE WOULD HAVE DRIVEN TOO FAR THE CAR MAY HAVE SHUT OFF AND CAUSED A HAZARD ON THE ROADWAY. I FEEL THIS IS TOO NEW A VEHICLE TO HAVE SUCH DETRIMENTAL FAILURES. DODGE HAS BEEN OF VERY LITTLE HELP. IN FACT, FIAT CHRYSLER MADE IT ABUNDANTLY CLEAR THAT MY VEHICLE DID NOT FIT THE RECALL AND WHEN I ASKED WHY A GROUP OF PEOPLE HAD TO BE AFFECTED TO CARE THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. 08-10-15 I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE, COWBOY CHRYSLER 409-385-3796 ABOUT THE NOTICE I RECEIVED ABOUT TWO SAFETY RECALLS R09 FUEL PUMP RELAY AND P36 SUN VISOR WIRING. I WAS TOLD THE DEALERSHIP HAD GOTTEN IN 15 OF THE PARTS AND USED ALL 15 TO REPAIR VEHICLES. I WAS TOLD I WOULD BE PUT ON A LIST AND CALLED WHEN MORE PARTS CAME IN TO THE DEALERSHIP. 08-21-15 I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THEY HAD GOTTEN IN 18 OF THE PARTS AND I AM THIRD ON THE LIST TO BE CALLED WHEN MORE PARTS COME IN. CAN YOU HELP ME GET THE NECESSARY REPAIR PARTS DELIVERED TO THIS DEALERSHIP?
THERE HAS BEEN NUMEROUS SAFETY RECALLS ON THIS YEAR VEHICLE. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO OUR DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES ONLY TO BE BRUSHED OFF BY SAYING THE RECALL PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE YET. HOWEVER WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WITH ALL KIDS INSIDE, THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROX. 35-45 MILES PER HOUR. NOW THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE DURANGO. WITHOUT WARNING, THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V115000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE FOR MONTHS TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING A SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I NOTICED A BURNING SMELL AS I WAS GOING DOWN THE SLIGHT DECLINE FROM THE DEALER LOT ONTO THE STREET. I RETURNED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHERE THEY INSPECTED THE CAR AND DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS A FAILED ALTERNATOR. BECAUSE OF THE COSTLY REPAIR, I OPTED TO GET A SECOND OPINION. THIS MECHANIC ALSO DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS A FAULTY ALTERNATOR. HE CHECKED THE VIN FOR A RECALL, AND DID NOT SEE MY VIN LISTED, THOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE ALTERNATOR ON DODGE DURANGOS MADE IN 2011-2014, MATCHING THE SPECS OF MY AUTO. BECAUSE THE CAR WAS A 2012, I ASKED IF THIS IS COMMON FOR SUCH A "YOUNG" CAR. HE DID NOT THINK IT WAS A TYPICAL ISSUE. WHAT HE ALSO THOUGHT WAS ODD WAS THAT TRACKING DOWN A REPLACEMENT ALTERNATOR TO FIT THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT; THERE WAS ONLY ONE COMPATIBLE PART AVAILABLE WITHIN A SIX STATE RADIUS, AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WERE NOT PRESENTLY BEING MANUFACTURED TO ACCOMMODATE THE NEED. WE WERE LUCKY TO SECURE THE ITEM AND HAVE IT OVERNIGHTED. THE LACK OF PARTS AND ALLEGED HOLD ON MANUFACTURING DREW THE ASSUMPTION THAT 1) THERE WERE SEVERAL OF THE SAME MODEL EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES AND/OR 2) ADDITIONAL RECALL WAS IMMINENT. HE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED ME TO CONTACT CHRYSLER TO REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT AND OFFERED TO ACT AS AN EXPERT WITNESS AND TESTIMONY TO WHAT HE ENCOUNTERED. FCA (CHRYSLER) WAS NOT RESPONSIVE.
THERE WAS A SMELL OF SOMETHING BURNING, THEN MY WIPERS CAME ON ( CLEAR DAY OF SUNSHINE), SHORTLY AFTER THAT THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON RIGHT BEFORE THE CAR CUT OFF.
WAS LEAVING MY HOME FOR WORK AND COMING UP TO STOP SIGN WHEN MY VEHICLE STALLED. RADIO WAS STILL ON BUT CAR NOT RUNNING. I HAD TOWED TO SHOP WHO TOLD ME THERE WAS A RECALL THAT NEEDED TO BE TAKEN CARE OF THAT WAS PROBABLY CAUSING TROUBLE. THANK GOD I WASN'T IN TRAFFIC. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO TOLD ME PARTS FOR TIPM FUEL PUMP RELAY WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR RECALL REPAIR. CALLED CHRYSLER WHO STATED PARTS ARE AVAILABLE AND FOR THAT REASON THEY DENIED RENTAL CAR. WEBSITE CLEARLY STATES "REPAIR PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE" DEALERSHIP INSISTED PARTS NOT AVAILABLE AS WELL. VICIOUS CYCLE WENT ON FOR 2 WEEKS, BACK AND FORTH 2 HOUR PHONE CALLS UNTIL CHRYSLER ADMITTED THAT THEY WERE ATTEMPTING TO USE ANOTHER PART FROM A DIFFERENT VEHICLE "FOR NOW". 3RD WEEK INTO ORDEAL I GET CALL FROM DEALERSHIP THAT I NEED TO PAY $300 FOR TIPM CONNECTOR WHICH IS NEEDED FOR RECALL REPAIR TO BE COMPLETED. OBLIGATED TO PAY SINCE CHRYSLER STATED PART IS NOT UNDER RECALL OR WARRANTY BUT YOU CAN'T DO ONE WITH OUT THE OTHER. DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. 3 WEEKS WITH OUT VEHICLE SO AT THEIR MERCY PAYING FOR PART. NO COMPENSATION OR RENTAL FROM CHRYSLER. FAILED TO MENTION 1 WEEK AFTER PURCHASE IN 2012 VEHICLE OVERHEATED LEAVING ME STRANDED. ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND OF COURSE UNABLE TO RETURN DEFECTIVE VEHICLE SINCE I SIGNED MY LIFE AWAY WHEN I BOUGHT IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE HAD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIPM MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
I HAD AN ALTERNATOR REPLACED AFTER MY CAR COMPLETELY DIED WHILE DRIVING IN NOVEMBER. I FOUND OUT THAT THEY PUT IN A SIMILAR PART BUT DIDN'T PUT IN THE OFFICIAL REPLACEMENT PART UNTIL 8 MONTHS LATER. I COULD HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR AGAIN AND PUT MYSELF AND SON IN DANGER IF IT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY LIKE THE FIRST TIME. NOW THEY ARE FINALLY DOING IT BUT DIDN'T TELL ME IT WASN'T COMPLETE UNTIL I BROUGHT MY CAR IN FOR ANOTHER ISSUE. DURING THAT TIME I STARTED GETTING A BAD KEY MESSAGE AND THE RED SECURITY SYSTEM DOT ON MY INDICATOR PANEL WOULDN'T SHUT OFF. AT TIMES LEAVING ME STRANDED AND WOULDN'T START. I TOOK IT IN 3 WEEKS AGO AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT. THEN OUT OF THE BLUE IT STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN AND I HAD TO REQUEST A TOW SINCE IT WOULDN'T START. THEY ARE SAYING IT'S THE WIN MODULE., BUT I AM NOT CONVINCED. I WANT TO KNOW IF THIS CAN BE AN EFFECT OF THE ALTERNATOR ZAPPING THE SYSTEM WHEN MY CAR DIED AND ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WENT HAYWIRE. IT ZAPPED MY BATTERY AND IT HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE SAME WIN MODULE IN MY CAR THAT IS IN OTHER MAKES AND MODELS HAS BEEN RECALLED IN SEVERAL OTHER CARS BUT NOT MINE. THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO.
THE FUEL RELAY WAS RECALLED ON MY CAR (NHTSA # 15V-115); I WAS TRYING TO DRIVE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT FUNCTION. I TOOK IT TO A DODGE MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE INTERNAL FUEL RELAY PUMP THAT FAILED. THIS IS PART OF THE TIPM. THE PART THAT FAILED WAS PART OF THE RECALL. PRESTIGE DODGE STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT FIX THE PART, AS THE SPECIFIC RECALLED PART (PART OF THE TIPM) FAILED BUT THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT. I CALLED DODGE CUSTOMER CARE (CASE NUMBER 27223921) AND WAS INFORMED THAT I COULD EITHER PAY FOR FULL REPAIR (AS THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE TIPM REPLACEMENT) OR "DRIVE WITH A FAULTY PART"--THOSE LAST WERE THE DODGE REP "KATELYN'S" EXACT WORDS. I WOULD NOT NEED THE NEW TIPM UNLESS THE FUEL PUMP (WHICH WAS RECALLED) FAILED--I WAS WILLING TO TAKE ONLY THE INTERNAL FUEL PUMP, BUT DODGE REFUSES TO PROVIDE THIS PART. AT THIS POINT, DODGE AND PRESTIGE DODGE IS REQUESTING THAT I PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR A PART FAILURE CAUSED, AND ACKNOWLEDGED, BUT DODGE. I AM REQUESTING ASSISTANCE TO MAKE DODGE UPHOLD THEIR PART OF THE NHTSA RECALL AND FIX MY CAR. THERE IS A FIX (REPLACE THE TIPM), BUT THEY FEEL THEY SHOULDN'T PAY FOR IT. THE PART HAS ALREADY FAILED, AND THEY NEED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL COASTING. THE CONTACT MANEUVERED TO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE CONTACT PREVIOUSLY RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V115000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART TO REPAIR THE DEFECTIVE COMPONENT WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
CHRYSLER HAS PUBLISHED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) NUMBER 17-007-14. I EXPERIENCED THE SYMPTOM OF THIS TSB AS A CLUNKING SOUND FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. IT IS CAUSED BY THE SELF LEVELING SUSPENSION (SLS) SHOCK STRUT UPPER MOUNT FAILING. THE SLS IS A COMPONENT OF THE OPTIONAL TOW PACKAGE. BEFORE I UNDERSTOOD WHAT THE ISSUE WAS, I TOWED A 23' 4,500 LBS TRAILER OVER 1,200 MILES. I EQUIPPED MY DURANGO WITH A WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION AND ANTI-SWAY HITCH ASSEMBLY RATED AT 8,000 LBS AND ENSURED BOTH THE TOW VEHICLE AND TRAILER WERE NEAR PERFECTLY LEVEL. ADDITIONALLY I WAS REQUIRED BY THE STATE OF MARYLAND TO HAVE THE TRAILER SAFETY INSPECTED WHICH CONFIRMED THE AXLES WERE PROPERLY ALIGNED, WHEEL BEARINGS WERE SERVICEABLE, AND THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROLLER WAS FUNCTIONAL AND ADJUSTED PROPERLY. DESPITE THE FACT THE TRAILER WAS WELL WITHIN THE TOW VEHICLE OPERATING LIMITS, THE TOW VEHICLE AND TRAILER EXHIBITED UNSAFE LEVELS OF DYNAMIC INSTABILITY. THIS DYNAMIC INSTABILITY MANIFESTED AS A ONE-TO-ONE LATERAL OSCILLATION OF THE TOW VEHICLE, LATERAL SWAY INSTABILITY OF THE TRAILER, AND WHAT I WOULD CHARACTERIZE AS A DANGEROUS REDUCED CONTROLLABILITY OF THE TOW VEHICLE AND TRAILER. I ASK THAT THE NHTSA EXAMINE THIS ISSUE AND THAT THIS TSB BE ELEVATED TO A MANUFACTURER FUNDED RECALL ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES. VEHICLE OWNERS MAY NOT RECOGNIZE THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE ISSUE OR UNDERSTAND THE EFFECTS ON TOWING STABILITY. THIS NOT ONLY PUTS THE TOW VEHICLE AT RISK, BUT ALL OTHER VEHICLES SHARING THE ROAD. ADDITIONALLY, THE HIGH COST OF MITIGATING THIS ISSUE (GREATER THAN $1,000) WILL VERY LIKELY CAUSE A LARGE NUMBER OF VEHICLE OWNERS TO DELAY THE REPAIR OR EVEN DECIDE NOT TO HAVE IT ADDRESSED AT ALL. CHRYSLER AND DODGE HAVE AN INTRINSIC RESPONSIBILITY TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE WITH A RECALL FOR THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS AS WELL AS ALL DRIVERS WHO SHARE THE ROAD.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V115000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,500.
THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP PLAZA DODGE INVERNESS FLORIDA HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. RECALLED FOR A FUEL PUMP RELAY SWITCH WHICH COULD MALFUNCTION CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO "STALL WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING". THEY TELL ME IT COULD "EASILY BE 6 MONTHS BEFORE THEY GET THE PARTS". THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, THIS IS A DANGER TO MY FAMILY AND ALL THE OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD! RECALL WAS RECEIVED IN JUNE 2015. THAT IS TOO LONG FOR THIS TO WAIT.
FUEL PUMP RELAY INTERMITTENTLY INOPERATIONAL. MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WILL NOT ADDRESS ISSUE ON KNOWN RECALL WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO "REPLICATE" ISSUE AT SHOP. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT FAILURE SO REPLICATING IF IS A ROLL OF THE DICE THAT COULD COST ME HUNDREDS BEFORE AN ACTUAL REPLICATION HAPPENS. THIS IS ABSURD AND CHRYSLER NEEDS TO MAKE RIGHT ON THIS ISSUE.

FIRST INCIDENT: I DROVE ABOUT 80 MILES OUT OF TOWN. ONCE I MADE IT TO MY DESTINATION I RETURNED TO MY TRUCK TO FIND OUT THAT THE DOORS WOULDN'T UNLOCK.
